3.) What fandoms do you write for?

Currently: Kingsman & Star Wars. (I really never thought I'd be in either of them but I'm glad I am.)

4.) What are your top five fics by kudos?

gold and pink and glittering: 498, Hartwin, E. I'm still surprised to this day how much people liked it. First smut in several years.

the lean and hungry type: 453, Obikin, E. First time getting to do alpha/beta, and written from around 11pm to 4 am and then another hour proofreading. I was mildly delirious, ngl.

offer a little salt for that wound: 463, Hartwin, E. OOH man I had this one in my head and wouldn't leave me tf alone. My plot bunnies aren't USUALLY visual, but this one was!

cold water on your tongue: 429, Obikin, E. Still surprised this one took off tbh! I had a lot of moments where the fic felt awkward to me and not worth salvaging. But I think it makes people happy, and god, I can't really ask for more than that!

5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do when I can! Have a pretty decent streak going, I think? I think I owe a really lovely commenter from like 5 days ago and nnnghh the guilt is heavy.

6.) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Potentially empty spaces, empty phrases (Obikin) depending on how you decide the ending goes! But objectively: let me stay (TimJon).

7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

oh fuck, who are you, the cops? (me, looking at my fics in despair)

I think the honor goes to cold water on your tongue. Everything else tends to end in a bittersweet or incomplete ("to be continued") kind of way.

8.) Do you get hate on fics?

Not outside of TMA. It's been absolutely lovely being in Kingsman / Obikin fandoms. I genuinely showed up here low-key scared for my life, and I've been shown nothing but kindness and support.

9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Yes, and welcome to the first of the "UH IDK? [awkward shrug/hand wave]" questions because... I have no idea how to answer that. Like, what are the quantifiers here? Level of depth (NO PUN INTENDED) in how explicit it is, or what bits are rubbing against what bits, or like, if I specialize in any particular kind of smut (if there aren't pins for "I WRITE BDSM SMUT", I demand we print them) or— tldr: IDK. Vibe. The vibe kind. oh my god not vibrator vibe brain why are you doing this

10.) Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Nope. I've thought about fusions, though! Like, I feel a fic where Obi-Wan is a Kingsman and picks Anakin as his candidate--maybe it was Qui-Gon's dying request still, and when Obi-Wan became a knight and a seat next opened up, he reluctantly said, FINE.

(Now I'm wondering what knight Obi-Wan would be. Gawain? The original version of him, not the vulgarized mythos of later romances. Which leaves Anakin to be Agravaian, which is pretty perfect tbh. I mean he could also be Mordred since they're all brothers)

11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yup! Multiple times. It never stops feeling Not Okay.

12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know of?

13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Nope.

14.) What's your all time favorite ship?

oh fuck you are the cops.

Uh. tbh this is a really hard question until I asked myself: a 100k fic written by an amazing author: what pairing would you be more excited about? And my heart... my heart said Hartwin.

15.) What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Ahh, sadly the post-Vday canon divergence Hartwin fic. I'm told it stands on its own as is, though. So maybe that counts for something?

16.) What are your writing strengths?

I have no idea. You saw what happened during the smut question, I fell apart like a jenga tower! And that was a simple question!

Honestly though, I don't know. That I manage to carry enough vibes to be entertaining? That's pretty good.

17.) What are your writing weaknesses?

I will not clutch the camera and shove my face into it and whisper everything in a voice ragged with despair I will not clutch th—

18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Google Translate, my dearest friend. (Unless it's Spanish, I can handle that on my own.)

Granted, if I have a friend who speaks the language, you can bet I'm knocking down their door like a SWAT squad.

19.) First fandom you wrote for?

UH SO FUNNY STORY. I watched IT (the TV series) when I was like, 7. Was very confused for many reasons (partly because I missed the first hour) but also i was a Weird Child, and also Not American.

But! I didn't know it was based off a book written by a dude, so one day I just... started writing the story down in a notebook when I was 8. Because I figured I liked the movie (I assumed it was a movie at the time) so much, why NOT turn it into something to read?

20.) Favorite fic you've ever written?

Beholding's Own. Lightning-in-a-bottle kind of situation, 10+ year break from writing, and also re-entering fandom after said 10+ year long break. It's really hard to live up to that kind of fondness.

From new fics? the devil is a gentleman. I can't help it, this Obi-Wan and Anakin are hilarious. They are so dumb and yet so smart.

Do I Know You?

Harry Hart x Merlin

For Day 20 of @whumpril's 2023 Challenge: disoriented / "Where am I?"

Warnings: 18+, angst, language, canon-divergent

A/N: The way that I have missed writing for these two so so much. My favorite superspy boyfriends. I love them. I love them so much.

There had been so many things that they were supposed to be taking care of, that they simply needed more manpower to take care of it all. Merlin, Eggsy, and Roxy were three extremely capable agents, but they were only three people. There were too many moving pieces to take care of for just three people. While most of what they had been doing with Harry had been kept extremely close to the vest, it looked like they were running out of options.

That was how Percival ended up getting dispatched to go to Kentucky. Merlin didn’t give him any of the details outside of the fact that Harry was there and needed to be brought back home. He tried to prepare Percival for what he might be walking into, but he didn’t give him any of the background on it. It wasn’t necessary for the task at hand. When everything was all said and done, Merlin would give him, and the rest of the agents that were still left within their circle, the full run-down of what had gone on.

When Merlin, Eggsy, and Roxy finally made it back to HQ, when the worst of it was all done and over with, they weren’t expecting to see Percival sitting in one of the stray chairs the medical wing, eyes squinting behind his glasses as he scrolled on his tablet. What they expected even less than that, was to see someone laid up, wires and tubes hooked up to them and monitors beeping to keep track of their vitals.

Eggsy was finally shedding his suit now that he felt like he was far enough out of harm’s way to do so. He shot Percival a confused look before nodding towards the hospital bed. “Who the fuck is that?”

Percival didn’t even look up from the device in his hands. “Your mentor.”

For the next few seconds, the only thing in the room that moved as the line on the heart monitor that was hooked up to Harry. It was ironic, really, since he was the only one out of all of them who was supposedly dead.

Eggsy stepped in closer, like he thought that Percival was lying to him. “How…?”

That got the agent to finally look up. Taking a deep breath, he locked the tablet in his hands and rose from his chair. He tucked his device under his arm as he walked closer to the hospital bed. He looked down at Harry, or rather, what he could see of him. A majority of the man’s face was wrapped up in bandages. The doctor’s had done more for Harry than they’d needed to do for any agent in a very long time. Now they were all stuck waiting to see if any of it was going to do him any good.

“By some miracle,” Percival said, prying his eyes away from Harry and looking at the other agents in the room, “he wasn’t dead when I arrived.” He paused, locking eyes with Merlin. “Lucky is a grave understatement.”

Merlin cleared his throat, trying to speak with the same lack of emotion that he usually did even though there were tears in his eyes. “What’re we doing now?”

Percival gave a slight shake of his head. “Waiting. Medical team said that that’s all there is to do.” He made his way around the bed so that he was on the same side as the rest of them. “I didn’t think that would be a problem. There is going to be a lot of cleanup ahead for everyone. Things are going to be in limbo for a bit.”

Merlin nodded. “Right.”

There was a beat of silence, Percival taking a moment to look over Eggsy and Roxy. They looked exhausted but all things considered, relatively unharmed. Still, looks could be deceiving. He was speaking to both of them despite the fact that his eyes were locked on Roxy. “You should take a seat. I’ll have the doctors come and check both of you out.”

Roxy shook her head, “We’re—”

“Sit,” Percival cut her off, his tone firm but the intention behind it was a caring one. “It’s protocol after every mission anyway. Better get used to it, Lancelot.” For a moment the barest hint of a smile cracked across his usually stoic face before he turned and walked off, going to follow through on his promise to send the medical team in.

Roxy was about to take a seat when she saw that Merlin had drifted over to the bed where Harry was laying. She couldn’t see the man’s expression, but she could imagine it well enough. Clearing her throat, she spoke up. “They’ll have to look you over too, Merlin.” She waited for him to look back at her over his shoulder. “You should sit.”

He nodded, nose twitching slightly as he tried to keep his emotions in check. He walked over to the chair where Percival had been sitting. But, rather than just taking a seat, he pulled it over so that it was directly beside Harry’s bed. He didn’t say anything about it as he sat down. Eggsy and Roxy shared a wordless glance, both of them opting to not break the silence that had covered the medical wing. Instead, they each picked a different bed to sit on the edge of while they waited to get checked out themselves.

In the days and weeks that followed, it turned out that Percival was right. The world may have been caught up having to clean up the mess that Valentine had made, but Kingsman had been left to start straightening out its own messes as well. The damage done by Valentine, by their former Arthur, weren’t things that they could ignore. There was no pushing forward like none of it had ever happened. Tending to that wasn’t nearly as easy or straight-forward as they had been hoping, but they were getting it done.

They were all kept plenty busy. Whenever Eggsy found himself with any kind of down-time, though, he made his way to the medical wing. The guilt that rested on his shoulders was impossible to shake whenever he looked at Harry. It’d been hard to stomach when he thought Harry was dead. Him being in this weird, comatose limbo, however, just made the guilt feel more complex—it didn’t lessen it. Eggsy didn’t know if showing up all the time the way he did really did anything to help either of them, but once he started, he couldn’t stop.

Sometimes when he showed up, he’d see Merlin there. He never really stuck around once Eggsy showed up. A few times he offered to come back later, trying to give Merlin whatever time he felt like he needed, but Merlin always refused it. There was always some comment about how he had things that he had to get back to anyway. Eggsy didn’t doubt the truth of that—Merlin was the busiest person he’d ever met. But Eggsy also wasn’t so naïve to think that that was the only reason that he was so quick to take off.

This time, the room was empty with the exception of Harry when Eggsy showed up. Walking over, Eggsy camped himself out in the chair beside Harry’s bed the way that he always did. He’d asked the doctors a few different times if they knew whether or not Harry could actually hear anything that they were all saying. They always came back with the same answer: that there was no way to know for sure, but that everyone should assume that he was able to hear and understand everything.

It was a little odd for Eggsy to get used to at first, having a conversation with someone who couldn’t talk back to him. It was especially odd given that it was Harry, a man who always had some sort of comment or quip in reply to everything that Eggsy had to say. But he adjusted. He’d make one-sided small talk with him, give him updates about things going on in the agency. He was sure that Merlin probably told him more of the same, but Eggsy was fairly certain that his way of telling stories had a little more life and fun to it than Merlin’s.

Eggsy was scrolling on his phone, telling Harry about the latest and greatest in terms of movies that were coming out. It was a bit ridiculous, really, to think that there were still film premieres going on less than a month after the world had been a hair’s breadth from going to shit. But everyone just kept pushing on.

“Just think,” Eggsy said with a chuckle, “this time next year they’ll prob’ly have some movie comin’ out about all the shit with—”

He stopped short when he heard the rustling of sheets beside him. His eyes widened as he leaned forward, shoving his phone into the pocket of his track-jacket before grabbing onto the railing that went along the side of the hospital bed. He didn’t even dare to breathe as he continued to watch, continued to listen. That one small, split-second sound of bed sheets was the most that anyone had heard out of Harry since he’d been brought back home.

And then he heard it again. Eggsy’s gasp turned into something of a surprised laugh as he saw Harry’s limbs starting to move beneath the thin blankets that were draped over him. He fought the urge to reach out and pull them off, give Harry some more range of motion. He wanted to, but the last thing he wanted to do was the wrong thing, something that would send Harry backwards.

Then Harry gave his head a slight turn. A good third of his face was still covered in bandages, but more of it was visible now. He still had his left eye and the area around it completely covered. However, as Eggsy sat there with bated breath, studying the parts of Harry’s face that he could see, he noticed the way he was starting to twitch and move.

Eggsy felt like he should be shouting for a doctor, like he should be saying something encouraging to Harry as he slowly but surely started to return to the land of the living. But he couldn’t get his brain to work that way. For once, he was left absolutely speechless.

He watched as Harry’s eye slowly started to open. He blinked slowly a couple times, trying to adjust to the light  and also the strange sensations of being bandaged and completely wired and tubed up in a hospital bed.

Eggsy’s mouth opened and closed a few times, still at a complete loss for words. But, when he saw that Harry’s eye was finally open, and that it looked like he was really starting to come around, he managed to force out a very raspy, choked up, “H-harry?”

It caused the man to flinch, not having noticed someone sitting in what was now very much his blind spot.  He slowly turned his head. Eggsy could see that he moved his arms and went to prop himself upright a little more, but he couldn’t quite manage that yet. Settling for being able to turn his head enough to see who was sitting next to him, Harry took a few long seconds studying Eggsy. His expression was so neutral that it almost pained Eggsy in a way. He’d been hoping for some kind of a reaction. Joy, relief, hell he would’ve even understood and settled for anger. But for the moment, Harry was giving him nothing.

Eggsy repeated his name again, this time with his voice a little more under control. “Harry. You’re,” he let out a relieved laugh as tears gathered in his eyes, “you’re alive. Holy shit. You’re alive.”

He cleared his throat, giving a slight shake of his head. “I’m sorry—do I, do I know you?”

All of the joy and relief that had been on Eggsy’s face immediately drained. Shifting in his chair, Eggsy gestured to himself. “It’s me. Eggsy.”

Harry’s lips turned downward into a pensive frown. “My apologies, Eggsy. I don’t, I don’t believe we’ve met. You must have mistaken me for someone else.”

Eggsy could’ve sworn that he felt his heart constricting in his chest. Letting out a deep sigh, he finally got his brain to start kicking into gear. He knew that it wasn’t going to do him or Harry any good if he just sat there feeling defeated by Harry not recognizing him.

Standing up, Eggsy brushed his hands off on his jeans. “I’m, uh, I’m gonna go get the doctors, yea? Have them look you over.”

Eggsy was hardly through the doorway into the next room over when he started calling out for doctors, nurses, literally anyone who could do anything for Harry. Once he had successfully gotten someone’s attention, he took off across HQ to go and find Merlin.

He barged into Merlin’s lab without knocking, something that the man had repeatedly told Eggsy was one of his biggest pet peeves. Merlin’s sigh practically echoed in the room as he got ready to turn around and scold Eggsy about it all over again. He didn’t get the chance to, though, because Eggsy was already spitting out the best news that he’d had for anyone in a long time.

“He’s awake.”

Merlin’s brows drew together. “What?”

“Harry,” he elaborated. “He’s awake.”

Whatever Merlin had been working on before Eggsy came in fell completely to the wayside. Before Eggsy could even make any kind of comment to prompt Merlin to follow him, the man was already out of his seat and nearly bowling Eggsy over to get to the door. The two of them quickly made their way back towards the medical wing. Eggsy couldn’t remember there ever being another time when Merlin seemed so determined about getting somewhere. He was just getting ready to try to prepare Merlin for the fact that Harry probably wasn’t going to remember who he is when Merlin barged into the medical wing. This time he was the one that skipped the knock.

“Merlin,” Eggsy called after him, even though it was no use.

Harry, as well as the doctor and nurse who were by his bedside, all turned and were staring at Merlin. None of them had been expecting the dramatic entrance, especially not from Merlin of all people. He didn’t care, though.

He strode over, adjusting his sweater as he went, like that was going to make him seem less eager and frazzled. The whole time, though, he didn’t take his eyes off Harry. The relief at seeing him sitting upright, looking around and breathing and living, it was nearly enough to bring him to his knees.

“Harry,” a smile broke across Merlin’s face, “welcome home.”

Everyone in the room besides the two of them were waiting silently, holding their breath. Eggsy was waiting for the other shoe to drop, for Merlin’s relief to be dashed the same was his was. They were all standing around, waiting to see what Harry was going to have to say to yet another person so emotional and relieved at seeing him even though he had no idea who they were.

Much to everyone’s surprise except Merlin’s, Harry’s mouth slowly started to curve into a smile. “Hamish? What,” he shook his head slightly, his body relaxing a bit now that he had the comfort of a familiar face, “what happened? Where am I?”

Eggsy felt like he had been slammed in the gut with a battering ram. The simultaneous blows of Harry recognizing Merlin with no delay at all, and finding out that Merlin’s real name was Hamish was nearly enough to knock him off his feet.

Clearing his throat, Merlin was fighting to keep his emotions in check as he stepped in a little closer to Harry’s bed. “You’re in the medical wing, Harry,” he explained, hand resting on the rail of the bed. “We’re back at headquarters.”

Harry let out a soft, tired chuckle. “Headquarters?” He shook his head. “It’s not the time for games. You can just say we’re at the hospital.”

“Harry—”

Merlin stopped short when Harry reached over and rested his hand on top of Merlin’s. “When do we get to go home?”

It felt like Merlin’s windpipe was going to close up completely as his emotions crept up from his chest into his throat. He shook his head, trying to muster up whatever words he could. “Not for a bit.” He brought his other hand up and rested it over Harry’s. “You should rest. This is,” he gave a small nod as he fought to keep his composure, “a lot.”

Harry nodded. “Right. You’ll talk to the doctors, then?” When Merlin nodded, he turned back to the doctor and nurse who were beside his bed. “Just tell him everything. He’s good with those things.”

Merlin pretended that he didn’t feel all of the tears in his eyes. He patted Harry’s hand lightly. “I’ll be right back.”

Harry gave him one more nod as he leaned back against his pillow again, his hand slipping out from between Merlin’s. Merlin spared another second of looking at Harry before turning, motioning for the doctor and nurse to follow him. They stepped back towards the door of the medical wing, giving Harry some space to breathe and also some privacy so that they could discuss everything that was going on without him having to hear it all.

Eggsy was shaking his head as the three of them walked over to where he was standing. Unable to take his eyes off of Merlin, he said, “What the fuck was that?”

The doctor took a much calmer approach in his questions to Merlin. “How long have you known Harry?”

Merlin blinked once, long and slow as he tried to think about the answer to that question. At this point, Harry had been part of Merlin’s life for more years than he hadn’t been. Looking at the doctor, he shook his head slightly. “Too long to count.”

He nodded, scribbling notes down on his clipboard. “That’s why he recognizes you and not the rest of us, then.”

No one said anything for a moment, and it was Merlin who broke the silence. “What do you need me to do?”

“Talk to him,” the doctor replied with no hesitation. “Be there. Don’t,” he gestured vaguely with his hand for a moment, “don’t try to force him to remember things. If the memories come back, they’ll do it on their own time.”

Eggsy’s face was the perfect picture of confusion. “Yea? And who’s gonna tell him that he’s a spy? That he got shot in the face by a maniac who—”

“That will come with time,” the doctor said, cutting him off. “But he just woke up. We need to be sure that his memories are the only thing that were compromised. Once we figure that out,” he paused, like he knew that he wasn’t exactly sure what was going to come next, “we’ll plan out a next step. For now, we’ll give the two of you some time. He’s stable—we’ll come back later to run some tests.”

After a few more brief exchanges, Eggsy, the doctor, and the nurse all finally took their leave. Eggsy lingered back for a moment, stealing a brief second with Merlin just to reiterate that if there was anything else that Harry needed, anything that he could do, to just ask. Even when Merlin was walking back towards Harry’s bedside, Eggsy found himself standing in the doorway for a few extra seconds, trying to wrap his head around the scene that was playing out in front of him.

Merlin went back over to Harry’s bedside. This time, though, instead of sitting on the chair next to the bed, he took a seat on the edge of the mattress. The relief that he felt as he looked at Harry, bandages and patchy memories and all, far outweighed any of the worry. He was alive. Even after everything that had happened, Harry was alive. That was more than Merlin ever thought was going to be possible.

“What did the doctors say?” Harry asked, a hint of a smile on his face despite the exhaustion and gauze.

Merlin shook his head, trying not to overthink it as Harry reached for his hand out of habit, entwining their fingers. “Told me I need to stay here and talk to you.”

Harry chuckled, head rested against the pillow behind him. “Unfortunate for you, then.”

He laughed, tears in his eyes at the familiarity of it all, despite how long it’d been since things were so easy, so soft between them. All the years that had gone by, all the ways that circumstances had changed, the ways that they changed as men, in that moment none of it mattered. It may as well had never happened. There was a small, selfish part of Merlin that couldn’t help but to think that if Harry’s memories never came back, that they’d get to have this all over again. But there was no guarantee of that. And, again, it was a selfish thing to think about and want. As Merlin looked at the drowsy smile on Harry’s face, felt the way that Harry’s fingers interlocked and traced over his own, he couldn’t help but to think that being selfish for a bit wasn’t the worst thing in the world. None of it was guaranteed to last anyhow.

Monthly Fic Recs - February 2024

You may notice that I, uh. Did not keep up with the Fic Feature Friday thing. *sheepish grimace* But! I am determined to share fic recs! So monthly ones it shall be. Mostly, these are all recent things, and to be honest I've read very little fic at all this year, wrapped up in new job and life stuff. But there's some great stuff here that I did manage to read in the quiet in-between times, I hope you find something to enjoy! And so, in no particular order except how I bookmarked them, THE RECS! STRANGER THINGS In the Kitchen or the Tulips by teddywesworl, ~44,000 words, Steve/Eddie Eddie’s face is way too hot, and the damn heart monitor is gonna give away his secrets if it doesn’t shut the fuck up. Steve Harrington carried me out of Hell, he thinks, deliberately. A prickle of something frantic festers at the base of his skull as he pictures himself limp in Steve’s arms, Steve’s hands clutching at his filthy jacket, his blood-soaked jeans. Did he have to do CPR? Did he peel Eddie’s clothes away from the gore of his midsection to get a look at the damage?

Did he touch me? Did he touch me? Did he touch me?

OR: A touch-activated telepathic soulmates AU.

Renegades (Leave a Light On) by queerofthedagger, ~67,000 words, Steve/Eddie Eddie doesn't expect to get into trouble for his recent drug business, although he probably should have. Even less does he expect Steve Harrington of all people to save his sorry ass with a nail bat that looks awfully at home in his hands. Least of all, though, does he expect Harrington to insist on skipping town for a while to avoid the fallout.

The Winter holidays of '84 seem intent on proving him wrong on all fronts. Thrown into a spontaneous road trip-slash-cut-and-run to San Francisco—just until things back home blow over, Munson—Eddie has all the time in the world to confront such questions as: why would Harrington care to help him? Why does he wake up from nightmares more often than not? And, maybe most importantly, why is the former King so ready to leave Hawkins behind on a whim?

Or: idiot boys make impulsive idiot decisions, and along the way—reluctantly but inevitably—they fall in love. A story of endless winter streets, finding family, and leaving home to find a new one. MERLIN Albionist by Galauvant, ~1,700 words, gen Arthur & Merlin (& Aithusa) The cry sounds again, and Arthur’s feet freeze, a chill sliding down his spine. There’s something hauntingly familiar about the cadence of the sound.

It’s not quite the same, but Arthur just knows. It’s impossible, but he knows.

He draws Excalibur now, quickening his pace, but his feet are light.

Minutes later, there it is:

A white dragon- a living, breathing dragon roughly the size of a stallion, crouched in front of a cave. One of its wings is held at an odd angle, and unlike the giant monstrosity that once terrorized Camelot, this one looks gaunt and weak.

Or: In a handwavey canon divergence where Arthur knows about Merlin's magic and Aithusa escapes captivity, there are two men and a young dragon.

KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE Magic Maketh Man by Brokenpitchpipe, ~17,000 words, Harry/Eggsy It takes Eggsy three seconds to tear his eyes off the feed, slam the laptop shut, apparate to Harry’s side, and somehow manage to get back to St. Mungo’s with the added weight.

It takes him another two minutes to realize that Harry’s glasses are still on his face, and the tiny little LED atop the brow is still blinking obediently.

Merlin’s goddamn balls. He’s fucked. TEEN WOLF (Don't) Stay by alocalband, ~18,000 words, Derek/Stiles Stiles goes away to college, and Derek suddenly falls ill. Obviously, the two things are completely unrelated. And, obviously, Stiles doesn't make the drive back to Beacon Hills at every available opportunity, to the detriment of his academic career, because he's secretly in love with the guy. That would be ridiculous. STAR WARS (original trilogy. yes i am confused by this too.) Take Care by spqr, ~12,000 words, Han/Luke The time dragged, and dragged, and the Falcon didn’t help matters by breaking whenever Han looked away for a second. It was like she didn’t want them to get where they were going, like she was actively sabotaging herself — an insane thought which Han kept to himself, since he didn’t want Chewie to smack him in the head, until the fourth literally brand new part broke in the space of an hour and he said in despair, “Oh, come on. Don’t tell me you’re mad at me too, baby,” and looked up to find Luke watching him thoughtfully, crouched at the edge of the open hatch.

“I can talk to her, if you want,” he offered.

Damn, my favorites always rotate, but I'll give it a go! In no particular order:

As Time Moves On - This was one of my most challenging fics to write in trying to a) expand on a minor character in Kingsman who had a handful of lines and b) who the fandom really vilified at times. But I'm happy I pushed through it: it's one of the few fics I look back and I'm like "damn, I don't hate it" -- and the art is gorgeous. <3

détente - I wrote this Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy canon divergence fic with @missbeckywrites, and to this day, it feels like the most natural collab I've done! It was so much fun exploring how Bill and Jim would (kind of realistically) get a happier ending and the work both would take to get to it.

a taste of home - This was so much frickin' fun! @mxo1on and I got paired up for the sheith event, and we absolutely bonded over cultural dishes and the challenges of creating childhood favorites in space!

In our Italian Restaurant - I gravitated towards angst in the SK8: THE INFINITY fandom, but I enjoyed imagining this golden spot of peace within Joe's restaurant. It really hit home with me how SK8 is a queer allegory and how that a sense of community, to be your true self, to hang out with the ones you love is essential. <3

my heart is on the house - When I think of fics where I undoubtedly had fun writing, this pops into mind! I saw the quad espresso (hopefully joke) post and around 3,500 words of catradora poured out! I enjoyed writing from Catra's snarky POV and exorcising my customer service demons lol

⁽ ¹ ⁾  i'm a fairly active partner, especially ooc. i like being friends with the people i write with as i'm quite a chatty person and i get rather enthusiastic about ships / dynamics so i could go on and on for hours about whatever we plot. i gravitate towards people who are similar, enthusiastic about plotting and chatty. i like to do things like make pinterest boards, playlists, share headcanons, etc. so if you're similar, we'll get along great! ⁽ ² ⁾ when it comes to plotting, i really love in-depth plotting. if you're the type that replies to everything with whatever you want or up to you, we're probably not going to get along well. i will always put a lot of effort into coming up with ideas and things so i ask that the same sort of effort is given back as well. i want us to both love the dynamic we're plotting! ⁽ ³ ⁾ i write the following: canons, ocs, canonxcanon, ocxcanon and ocxoc. i have preference for ocs and for ocxoc and canonxoc. i also write mxf and fxf, inclusive of trans/nb muses. i have a heavy preference for writing female muses but i am happy to double so long as we both put in the same sort of energy into both plots. ⁽ ⁴ ⁾ in terms of content preferences, i heavily lean towards dark, mature, taboo themes. with that being said, i do also love fluffy sweetness! i'm always happy to have a good mix of both. i also do write smut and i enjoy a good balanced ratio between smut and plot. i'm happy to share kinks / limits and things in private. i don't typically like writing smut without much plot, i always at least a bit of plot. some of the themes / types of plots i enjoy are: age gaps (no minors), forbidden / secret relationships, power dynamics, dependency, toxic relationships, corruption, crime/mafia related, pregnancy plots, small town plots, mumus, celebrities, fake dating, arranged marriage, apocalypse, cheating / affairs. in terms of some of the fandoms i enjoy (this list is definitely not conclusive so we can chat about it!): criminal minds, scream, the last of us, star wars / the mandalorian, marvel / dc, twilight, peaky blinders, kingsman, top gun: maverick, triple frontier, justified, divergent. ⁽ ⁵ ⁾ i am big big big pro-communication. i am absence friendly but not ghost friendly. i will always communicate with my partner about any absences or if i just need to take a break or if i'm losing muse for something. i ask for the same from you. i've had way too many experiences recently of people just disappearing for weeks on end without a single word or just leaving servers without saying anything. all i ask is for some communication. if you're losing muse, let me know! we can refresh / rework our dynamic, try something new, etc, or we can call it a day. sometimes it just doesn't work out and that's okay! if you need to step away and take a break or just need to be absent, that will never bother me at all! i will happily sit back and wait so long as you communicate that with me. i really hope i don't come off as a stickler for this but i've been experiencing this a lot lately and it's so disheartening when i get really engaged and enthusiastic about a dynamic only for it to just either fizzle out because of disappearances or for it to end altogether without a word. this is, of course, not applicable to being away for a few days and not saying anything, etc, i'm more so referring to ghosting for weeks at a time!

Fic I wish more people read: My last years entry for the Rusty Quill Big Bang! Sasha/Grizzop, class swap fic based on a romance novel blurp, A Wicked Liason. Also The Six Disappearances of Ella McCray fics mostly because I wished there was more content for it and more people who listened to it.

Fic I agonized over: All of them, currently the RQBB from this year (coming soon)

Fic that popped out fully-formed: pretty much all of my drabbles and most fics tbh because I don't like writing without having a clear idea of the story. But the last fic that wasn't a drabble that I remember punching it's way into my brain fully formed and then wouldn't leave was Due South, Fraser/RayK, ace discussion fic, Cassette Player.

Fic I'm proud of: All of my longer fics, because I am not very good at writing longer things. But especially Home Coming (Teen Wolf, Stiles- centric, canon divergence) which is 51,687 words long and the longest fic I've ever written. For reference, this is currently longer than my past RQBB fics combined (new fic not counted).

They say life is full of second chances. Eggsy should know, he was given one when Harry proposed him during the candidate trials. But how many second chances does one get in a lifetime?

Decades after Poppy Adams and the loss of a very special person, Eggsy is proposed as Arthur by his predecessor, Harry. While the crown may be heavy on the head, it’s his only shot at living a relatively normal life, and repairing his estranged relationship with his teenage son, Lee. He expects it to be as rocky as it sounds, while also juggling his new title and a candidate trial to fill his retired seat as Galahad.

What he doesn’t expect is one of the candidates proposed to have the face of the man he loved. One who died years ago. The face of the late Merlin, only 25 years younger.

One could imagine the shock and devastation Eggsy felt, even more so once the young man’s memories surface and Eggsy has to come to terms with more than just second chances.
