bull ride
Tumblr media
summary: out at a bar, jack watches you ride a mechanical bull and he can't wait to go home so you can ride the real thing.
pairing: jack “whiskey” daniels x f!reader word count: 2.0k warnings: 18+ content; no use of y/n (but a lot of nicknames); some swearing; dirty talk; unprotected p in v; public sex (kinda); spanking; jack being lowkey cringe
• masterlist •
This had been supposed to be just a nice little evening out at the bar in town. Just a few drinks, some food and each other's company.
What Jack hadn’t expected to happen was to watch his girl ride a mechanical bull while he had the hardest boner of his life. He hadn’t known that the bar had installed one of these things recently and he also hadn’t known that she was quite good at riding it.
Though he did know she was quite good at riding other things.
Jack watched her from his place at their table, sipping his whiskey as she was thrown back and forth, almost effortlessly moving with the mechanical beast. A laugh on her face the whole time, he swore she gave him a nasty little look whenever she faced him again, paired with a wink.
A wink that only made his dick throb harder.
Adjusting himself in his jeans, he stared at her bouncing breasts without any shame, a small hiss leaving him as he imagined her riding him like this. Moving back before she slid to the front again, pretending to wave a cowboy hat around with a loud laugh while the people around her cheered her on.
What a goddamn sight that was for his old cowboy heart. Seeing his girl ride a damn metal bull was as close as he’d ever get to see her ride the real thing.
She lasted an impressively long time, almost a minute long before she eventually got thrown off. Giggling and laughing all the while, her hair tousled and her face red when she came back to him. Adjusting her clothes as she walked.
And knowing immediately that he was horny as hell as she sat down opposite of him, the biggest grin on her face.
What a teasing little thing she was.
“I kinda wanna go again.” She said, sipping her own drink. The twinkle in her eye was playul, letting his blood boil hot.
“I know a different bull you can ride at home, sugar.” Jack replied with a wide grin, his dark mustache stretched wide over his white teeth. He shifted in place, his cock uncomfortably straining against the zipper of his jeans. “That one’s gonna be even more fun.”
A grin that matched his spread on her features, emptying the last of her drink while waving someone over to pay.
They had barely made it a quarter of the way home when he had to pull over, grabbing her by the chin to pull her into a hungry kiss, his fingers digging into her skin. Her hand reached out to palm him through his jeans, a low groan escaping him and tumbling right into her mouth.
He reluctantly pulled back, only to motion for her to get out and get into the truck bed of the Bronco. Needing her on his dick right now, riding him like she had that damn bull. The image still flickered in front of his eyes, the way she moved on that thing, like she knew exactly what she was doing to him.
“Wanted to be a cowgirl too, huh?” Jack asked, when he sat down at the edge of the truck bed, his hands on her waist pulling her closer. Their lips met again, his tongue slipping into her mouth while her arms snaked around the back of his neck, almost knocking his hat off of him.
“Maybe.” She giggled in between kisses, feeling his hands move under the hem of her shirt, his fingertips ghosting over her hot skin.
Who would have known this would get him so hot and bothered? Just by holding onto that thing like her damn life had depended on it.
Well, in a way she definitely had known. It was one of the reasons she had suggested this bar over the other ones they frequented.
“Let’s see how long you can last on this bull, pretty cowgirl.”
His hands moved to her jeans, working the button open before pulling down the zipper. Thank fuck it was summer, Jack really couldn’t have waited all the way home if it was any colder than right now.
Her pussy was already wet when he let his hand wander into her pants, rubbing over the slick, wet spot that had formed on her panties. She whimpered against his lips, breaking from him to look down at where his hand vanished, finding her clit through her underwear and pressing against it with one thick finger.
Languid movements, chuckling at how her breath hitched in her throat and her hips bucked into his touch. Rubbing over it again and again, enjoying the sweet sounds that left her, gasping and moaning, her feet shuffling apart.
“Jack, please.” She moaned, her lips finding his again in a sloppy kiss, her hands cupping his cheeks. “Don’t tease me, please, baby.”
His finger pressed down harder before he moved his hand back, biting her lip when she whined in protest. Going from cocky to putty in his hands so quickly.
Such a sweet thing, helping him take off her pants, her own hands palming his hard cock, making him groan.
“You’ve been teasin’ me the whole time you were on that damn thing.” He said, yanking her underwear down her legs while she continued kissing him. “C’mon, darlin’, you know this bull needs that cowgirl to ride him.”
A giggle left her, helping him to quickly work open his pants and move them down far enough over his ass that his cock sprang free. Hard and angry, in some desperate need for attention.
Jack hoisted her up, her legs straddling his narrow hips. He really didn’t care that they were on the side of the road and any passing car could see them do this, they were practically in the middle of nowhere anyways.
Taking his hat off of his head, he placed it on hers with a smirk, his hand finding her hips again and squeezing the warm flesh hard. How pretty she looked like this, watching her take his cock in hand to line herself up with him before she slowly sank down.
A guttural sound left her, enjoying the way he stretched her open more and more with every inch, until she sat in his lap.
“Atta girl, lookin’ so pretty takin’ my dick.” He chuckled, giving her ass a sharp smack which made her gasp. “C’mon, show me up close how you rode that thing.”
As she started to move, bouncing in his lap while bracing herself on his broad chest, he leaned back onto his elbows, enjoying the show. Mesmerized by how his dick vanished inside of her tight pussy over and over again, glistening in the low lights.
It made it hard to not just cum instantly, her perfect tits jiggling with every movement, her head thrown back. All while she kept making those noises, unabashed and loud in the silence of the night.
“Oh, fuck, Jack.” She moaned, one of her hands moving to her own breast, kneading it, rolling her nipple between two fingers. “Fuck, you feel so good.”
He chuckled, just watching her work.
“You liked ridin’ that bull more than this one, didn’t you, sugar?” The words were meant to egg her on, her hips stuttering momentarily before falling back into a rhythm, faster now. “Probably still thinkin’ ‘bout that huge piece of metal between your legs.”
She whimpered, his words only getting her closer to the edge. Changing the angle just slightly, she finally found more friction against her clit while his cock dragged along all the wonderful parts inside of her pussy. So thick and deep, each bounce better than the last.
Fuck, she wished he was fucking her right now, pounding her into the truck bed, knowing he would make it fast but hard with how worked up he was.
It was a miracle he hadn’t busted inside of her yet.
“No, Jack.”
He chuckled, one of his hands reaching out to smooth over her hip and down to her ass, caressing the spot where it had come down harshly. Only to do so again, loving the noises that left her lips.
“You better not, the only bull you need to ride is right here, sugar.” He said, helping her movements by guiding them once they started to falter.
Completely lost in the feeling of his cock, eyes closed and bouncing on him like her life depended on it.
“Just work it, baby, just like that.” The praise made her feel hot, sweat breaking on her skin as she continued to focus on the feeling of him inside of her. “Gimme a yeehaw, sweet cowgirl, c’mon!”
It was ridiculous, a breathless giggle leaving her as she opened her eyes and looked at him. She loved the smirk on his lips and the mischievous glint in his eyes.
Still, she obliged, taking one hand off his chest to lift his hat off of her head, just like she had pretended to earlier.
“Yeehaw, baby!” She yelled, making him laugh beneath her, wishing he could take a picture of this. Her, against the starry sky in the middle of nowhere, waving his hat around.
Maybe he should do that another time.
“Atta girl, keep ridin’ it, show that bull who’s the boss!”
Another harsh smack on her ass, the area red and stinging but simply adding to the feeling.
Jack could be so ridiculous sometimes, but she enjoyed it, grinding down into him harder.
“This bull’s got some stamina.” She breathed out, nothing but a whiny whisper. “Fuck, I’m close.”
He sat up again, his hands pushing her down into his lap, feeling her grip him tight when his lips found hers.
“Soak it, sugar,” Jack groaned against her lips, teetering right on the edge, “be a good little cowgirl for me and soak my cock with that talented pussy.”
His fingers found her clit, hurling her right over the edge with just the smallest touch, her arms wrapping around his neck once again as her pussy convulsed around him, breathless moans leaving her.
It made her head spin, the intensity of her orgasm and as her hips faltered, he kept guiding her movements, his fingers still working on her clit. Too much at once, biting his lip as he finally fell over as well.
Pressing her down into his lap, his dick spilling deep inside of her with a deep groan. He could never get enough of that feeling of her tight pussy.
His arms encircled her waist, keeping her close as she slowly caught her breath, slumped against him. That was too much of a workout tonight, first her session on the mechanical bull and now her rodeo on this one.
“What a ride.” She chuckled, leaning back to look at him. Taking his hat off of her, she placed it back on his head. “How d’you enjoy this rodeo, cowboy?”
Jack laughed, squeezing her tight.
What a filthy little thing.
“Never enjoyed bein’ ridden more than with this damn fine cowgirl on top of me.” He answered, giving her a little pat on the hip, signalling her to move off of him. If they were home already, she could have stayed sitting on his cock all night long but unfortunately they still had a bit of a drive in front of them.
She understood, moving off of him, still smiling but missing the feeling of him inside of her already.
Jack helped her get dressed again after he had put his own pants back in place, steadying her as she stood on wobbly legs.
“Which one did you enjoy more, darlin’?” He asked once they were finished and back in the car again. “There’s only one right answer here, sugar, so choose carefully.”
She giggled, pretending to think for a moment as he started the Bronco and took off.
“The mechanical one was wild.” She said, seeing him raise an eyebrow, just the corner of his lips curling up. “But nothing’s better than the real deal, don’t worry, Jack.”
He laughed at that, shaking his head.
“Nothin' better than a real bull to ride, that’s true, sugar.” Looking over at her briefly, she could still see the mischief in his eyes, promising nothing good. “But you should get a few more lessons in, cowgirl. There’s a lot to learn.”
She rolled her eyes, one of her hands laying on his thigh.
“And I’m sure you’ll be more than happy to teach me “

Kingsman Fic Ideas/Prompts
Charlie gets kicked out or at least punished for the water prank.
Parachute test fix-it (Perhaps Merlin takes a minute to understand why Eggsy has said chip on his shoulder)
What if Eggsy and Charlie were the last two in the parachute test?
"Manners maketh man. You'd do well to remember that Mr. Hesketh." Or Harry is none too pleased when he finds out how Charlie has been treating Eggsy.
What if Charlie had passed the loyalty test?
Harry lets Eggsy teach Dean a lesson after Eggsy fails the final test and comes home and finds out that Dean hit his mom.
Post-TGC: Merlin lives, but Eggsy still feels guilty.
H/C after train track test
Maybe Eggsy is upset that he was drugged.
Maybe Eggsy has been drugged before, so he has a panic attack or a nightmare after the train test.
Maybe Eggsy is still freaked out a little because he thought he was gonna die.
Eggsy gets de-aged to 4 years old (mind and body). Harry takes care of him until they can turn him back. (GEN FIC) Based on this fanart:
Harry apologizes to Eggsy for what he said and the assumptions he made in the Black Prince.
Tilde tells her parents about Eggsy.
After the toast to Merlin, Eggsy leaves the room (maybe he goes to the bathroom or something) and breaks down. Harry or Tequila or Ginger Ale comforts him.
Tilde meeting Daisy and Eggsy's mother for the first time.
Post-TGC: Eggsy has nightmares about Merlin and almost losing Tilde, and Tilde comforts him.
During training, Eggsy has nightmares about Dean.
After Merlin's "most dangerous job interview" speech, Harry explains the bruises on Eggsy's cheek and neck.
After the water test, all of the recruits receive physicals. Eggsy doesn't have much medical history because Jamal treated most of his injuries. The doctor and/or Merlin are concerned about the scars and/or broken bones or bone fractures that didn't heal properly.
"When was the last time you ate?" Or Eggsy's first meal at Kingsman. He's not particularly gross or rude about eating; he just eats very fast. Roxy or Merlin is concerned. In other words, Eggsy has food insecurity issues.
"What's his story?" Or during or after TGC: Ginger Ale or Champ is curious about Eggsy, and ask Harry what Eggsy's story is. Or maybe they ask Eggsy himself
Songfic based on "Waiting For Superman" by Daughtry about Michelle waiting for Lee to come back home even after Harry told her he was dead.
Songfic based on "Save Me" by Jelly Roll
Songfic based on "How to Save a Life" by The Fray
Reacher (TV) x-over: Tequila tries to recruit Reacher.
Reacher (TV) x-over: Dixon or Neagley is recruited to Statesman to be the new Ginger-Ale
Arrow x-over: Kingsman needs the Green Arrow's help.

I know I'm good in abandoning my art.
But you guys don't even know how good I am in abandoning fan fiction.
I have at least 300 Percilot FF WIPs on my phone storage and no, I AM NOT EXAGGERATING
Last year someone posted a Kingsman Christmas prompt list and I really wanted to submit a Percilot Oneshot for EVERY SINGLE DAY
*breaths heavily*
But... I didn't...
Not even for one...
So I was like: "Alright... but next year I definitely will-"
NO, YOU WON'T

Rosie: Masterlist
Agent Whiskey/ Jack Daniels (Kingsman)
Tumblr media
Coming Soon
Case Files from your time as a Statesman Agent and your increasingly complex relationship with your field partner, Jack Daniels.
Pairing: Jack Daniels/ Agent Whiskey x f!Reader
Rating: 18+ Summary: Rosie is the parallel part of Bug/Reader's story as she pursues her career at Statesman. It takes place alongside Changes and documents the parts of life that Javi doesn't get to see.
A/N: The Changes spin-off story I never expected! Couldn't have Javi having all the 'fun' in Colombia now, could we? This is totally just for fun and seemed like too good of an opportunity to pass up since I started dangling the Statesman side plot. Can definitely be read as a stand-alone if Javi/ Changes isn't your thing, but can also be disregarded if Jack/ deviating outside of the main plot of Changes isn't your cup of tea.
Chapter/ One-Shot Index
Case File #1: New York
Case File #2: Austria

Do you have any favorite John Wick fanfics?
Yo, thanks for the question!
To be honest, I almost didn’t read fan fiction, probably because in a moment of strong hyperfixation I preferred to look for other content. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything special on ficbook (Russian ao3). But I read my friend’s work!
I think if I get around to reading and find ones that I especially like, I’ll definitely post a selection here! In principle, I will also try for other fandoms, for example Kingsman or Mafia.

wait while i'm here and while we're on the topic of different pedro characters have you ever considered/will you ever consider writing for my baby daddy frankie morales from triple frontier!!!!!!!!!
Hi Bestie!!
So I have brain rot for Joel very hard, and I am a sucker for anything Star Wars (also masks SORRY) so I’ll always have a deep and abiding love for Mando.
But outside of them I’ve considered/have plans for/hoping for the right idea/intend to write at some point:
- Javier Peña: I mean look. Obviously yes. Also I have a lot of requests for Javi and a lot about his character intrigues me. I’m planning to actually finish Narcos (I know, I know but I’ve been too busy writing fics to pay attention to a TV show and I have to really pay attention to Narcos because I don’t speak Spanish!) when I’m done with Lavender and Beskar Doll and noodle on some ideas I have for this character.
- Oberyn Martell: my first Pedro love. Bisexual king. Sex on legs. Feminist. I just need the right set up for him, that’s it. Actively trying to give myself brain rot with him.
- Frankie Morales: definitely on the table. Haven’t found the right way to do it yet but I loved this character (also we can loop in Oscar Isaac so, honestly, this is the dream) and I’d love for him to be more in the drivers seat for high stress situations. (…also I feel like he’d be so sweet in bed.) I’ve only seen Triple Frontier once, so I need to watch it again and get more of a feel for Frankie.
- Jack Daniels: I was a big fan of the original Kingsman (I LOVE Matthew Vaughn and that style of action movie is my exact thing) but I think I’ve seen Golden Circle more because I fucking love Agent Whiskey that much. Have a loose idea here but not one that I feel/see clearly enough to take action on quite yet.
TBH I’m open to just about any Pedro character (like I need to see Prospect. Really bad. I feel like Ezra is gonna wreck my shit) because that man just rewired my brain at some point. I legit didn’t even consume fan fiction before like February of this year, and Beskar Doll was the first fic I wrote and Lavender was my second. I’m not sure why my obsessive fandom over other characters and franchises never made me do this but here we are lol
Now that I’m into this as a hobby I really enjoy, I’ve also considered writing for Poe Dameron because Oscar and Star Wars is the dream. Cassian Andor is another that I’ve thought about.
But yeah! I’d be open to most Pedro characters!
And I love you!!

I think another reason is why self-aware media and fiction can get tiring is that it often delves into insulting the genre or fans of that genre.
There’s a big difference between affectionate parody/satire where the writers are actually genuine fans of the genre but knows enough the pitfalls to poke fan at it in good spirit. Movies like Spaceballs, Shrek, Knives Out and the first Kingsman are great in that regard.
Then there’s the type of self aware media where it feels like the writers just hate the genre they’re writing in and all the jokes about it feels like they have a surface level understanding of it. So now it’s like we have to listen to these characters become the author’s mouthpiece on a genre they hate superficially. Rick and Morty like you said often does this exact thing.
It’s like “if you hate doing this than why are you forcing yourself to write this and making everyone watching miserable with you?”

Argylle (2024) review
Tumblr media
Mr Cavill, you sir are fine class gentleman. But that flat-top haircut is a disgrace and you know it.
Plot: Reclusive author Elly Conway writes best-selling espionage novels about a secret agent named Argylle who's on a mission to unravel a global spy syndicate. However, when the plots of her books start to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, the line between fiction and reality begin to blur.
I have noticed critics have really been harsh on this movie, with as of this writing Argylle holds a 35% review approval from Rotten Tomatoes. It’s not that bad. In fact it’s really enjoyable. Yes, it’s really dumb, but it’s also fun. Director Matthew Vaughn’s latest is gladly a crowd-pleasing action spy flick that is full of twists and bombastic set pieces, that takes inspiration from the 1973 French comedy The Man from Acapulco starring Jean-Paul Belmondo, where the novelist too was getting mixed into their fictional created spy world. Yes, there are an abundance of twists, so much so that if you really look into it there are so many logical gaps and absurd plot holes, however this movie embraces its silliness and simply tries to out-do each twist with another one, as if in a personal race of wit. Some turns are predictable, some less, but it’s all good fun and every time the story threw another narrative curveball I couldn’t help but have a smile on my face.
That’s really what this movie boils down to - it’s an irreverent over-the-top espionage blockbuster that’s a ton of fun, featuring an all-star cast of famous people, most of whom are only cameos (Dua Lipa fans please reserve your expectations), all of whom are having the best time ever and you’re enjoying the ride alongside them. Henry Cavill does his best Bond impression, however even though he’s the titular character he’s actually hardly in the movie. I’m serious, aside from the opening sequence he pops in maybe 5 minutes total in the whole film? Yep, guess that’s your first twist there. Argylle hardly has any Argylle. Nevertheless Cavill as always is a charmer, but maybe wait till Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare to get your proper 2024 fill of Henry Cavill. Dua Lipa does a dance; John Cena’s in there somewhere but I couldn’t see him (almost as if he’s, dare I say, invisible!); Catherine O’Hara excels; Bryan Cranston does the evil-dude-in-a-lair trope with the gusto of Walter White for he is indeed the one who knocks, and Samuel L. Jackson is heavily under-used, acting as only a MacGuffin to give the movie’s finale some extra stakes, though that does fall a bit flat. However the main characters of Argylle are Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell. This is their movie. With Howard playing writer Elly Conway with a delightful spark, but it’s Sam Rockwell who’s the MVP, which shouldn’t come as a surprise as he’s great in these type of sarcastic roles. He gets one of the best lines and moments, and honestly he’s on top form.
In terms of negatives, the CGI is bad. Like astonishingly bad. There are some truly cool action sequences, but they were consistently hindered by the overused obvious green screen which was so jarring, and at times it felt like even when characters were standing just talking that they were still enveloped in CGI. Heck, this movie includes a cat which by the way adds nothing to the plot, but it’s there and for the most part it’s a CGI cat, which just looked daft. Also at over 2 hours the movie could have easily cut off a little fat and shortened its runtime, as it did overstay its welcome a little. That being said this is the most fun I’ve had with a Matthew Vaughn flick since his first Kingsman movie, and it was nice to switch off my brain and simply enjoy a silly nonsensical piece of entertainment. Oh, and the soundtrack choices throughout were great. Can never go wrong with a lil’ Barry White.
Overall score: 5/10

Dear A Rough Sketch...
A love letter to fan fiction. To the story that got me to where I am today, and to the people who I truly owe everything to.
I was catching up with a friend of mine this evening, someone who has loved and supported the story of A Rough Sketch, when it dawned on me that I’d neglected to ever really go into detail about why this story meant so much to me, and what my motivations were for writing it. I realised that for someone who supported me so much, I’d never shared with more than three people the emotional drive behind this story. So, here we are.
It’s early 2023, and after a winter off work due to my job then being seasonal, I went back to set up for the new season. In myself I felt happy, and I was excited to be going back to work full time after time off over Christmas. I’d missed my work friends, and was starting to run out of things to do at home to occupy my time.
The date is the 11th of February, 2023. There’s an event on at work which introduces the new staff members of the season to the existing team, as well as give everyone a low down of the changes that have been made since the end of the last season in November, 2022. It’s a lovely day, but after a week working flat out doing really physically demanding tasks, I’m exhausted. Still, I show my face, and I mingle.
Then, I got sick. Really sick.
What started as just the flu turned into a violent chest infection, and by the time the new season began on February 17th, I was suffering. As an asthmatic, the infection floored me. In a bid to get my part of the business up and ready for opening day, I had overworked myself too hard, and I never gave myself enough time to rest. I couldn’t afford to be off, and as there weren’t enough people on site yet, nobody was worried about them getting ill from me. So, I kept going.
A week after we opened, my chest had still never gotten better. By now I had torn through muscles, tendons, and ligaments in my ribs from the force in which I was coughing. I was very close to a hairline fracture getting worse, too. I’d pushed my body to its absolute limit, and I couldn’t carry on. The day my voice gave out, leaving me completely mute for two days, was my breaking point.
I got signed off sick from work less than two weeks after we opened for the new season. Ordered to be on bed rest, I fell very quickly into a depressive cycle, hating the fact that having just gone back to work I was now looking at being off, again. The only thing that made me smile was that I’d recently gone back to A03 to read fanfiction, and I thought ‘well, at least now I can catch up on my reading!’.
But after two days of reading, it wasn’t enough. I wanted to write again. I’d written for A03 about four years ago, at the time, but since the end of 2018 I put down my keyboard one day and never really thought about it. But after reading more Kingsman fanfiction than I care to mention, I picked my keyboard back up again, my own ideas brewing by this point.
Within a few days I’d released a 16,000 word fic, and a week later on March 7th there was already a part two. The writing bug bit me, but as I sat down to write part three there were already ideas whirring in my mind for things outside of Kingsman. By the time March was over I already had 3 Kingsman fics under my belt, and one for Narcos.
As I was writing more, I began branching out with what I read. I stumbled across a few Pedro fics, and I really enjoyed a lot of them. Some of them went a bit far, in my opinion, and it didn’t really feel like him. But the majority were sweet, and the authors had clearly done their research ahead of writing their fics, and it made for a delightful reading experience.
So, I set to work, and A Rough Sketch was born. Mid-March 2023, I sat down and wrote the opening lines; “This book was going to be the fucking death of you”. What it became, though, was the very antithesis of what our dear reader went through.
I had always wanted to write a romance book, and the ‘meeting someone cute in a coffee shop’ trope was absolutely something I would have done. Either that, or something else quaint, like a bakery. And I’d always known that I wanted to write something set in Wales, too. It’s a place that means so much to me, and in a way is like a home.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time in Wales, specifically in the north west. Every summer I’d be there with my grandparents, and up until the age of about 15 I had never known a holiday anywhere other than Wales. I didn’t mind though; I enjoyed going with my family, and as I got older and more aunts and uncles began to pass away, those annual trips became more and more special. We had restaurants we’d frequent every summer, friends we’d visit, walks we’d always do – everything. Every year we’d pack our bags and head to the north west, and hole up there during the summer. I loved it.
Both of my grandparents’ health took a turn when I was about 17, and the trips had to stop. My grandfather (a nurseryman by trade, just as in A Rough Sketch) had recently had cancer removed from his body, and my grandmother’s arthritis had just kept getting worse, making the trip from where we live in England too much for them both. But, in their honour, my mother and I would still go that year, just with a twist. We went south that year, staying in a caravan off the south west coast, near Lamphey. From here, we were just a short drive from the town of Tenby, and while we were passing through we hopped on a boat to take us to Caldey Island…
At Caldey Island, I cried when the Monks chanted. I spent an ungodly amount on the little chocolates that were hand made by the same Monks, my mother picking up some coffee flavoured drops which teenage LadyBess had absolutely zero palette for (and, to this day, I still hate coffee as a drink. Sorry, Pedro…).
The final stop on that holiday was Cardiff itself. Being a huge Doctor Who nerd, the city got added to our holiday just for me. We all geeked our little minds out whenever we went past a filming location, we visited a pop-up museum for the show; everything. I absolutely fell in love with the city, and I never wanted to leave. I’d always known that, one day, I wanted to write a book. But that holiday solidified to me where I’d set it.
Life got manic after that trip. I grew up, moved out, and unfortunately I would never go to Wales with my grandparents again.
My grandfather passed away when I was 19. His cancer came back, and after several weeks of fighting, he slipped away. He was in his nineties when he died, and had a good life, although the last few years of his life were a series of him getting knocked on his ass, health wise, and then bouncing back. We always expected him to just keep bouncing back, but our time with him had to run out one day (does this sound familiar?).
My grandmother died 18 months later, to the exact day. Complications from a surgery meant that one day she just never woke up again. We had to make the painful decision to let her go after multiple failed attempts to wake her. I sat by her side as the nurse muted the heart rate monitor, letting us say goodbye to her in peace…
When I sat down to write A Rough Sketch, I had no plans for it aside from it was going to be a fluffy meet-cute with Pedro, some tension and pining, ultimately ending with the two of them together about to travel the world with one another. It was going to be bare boned, at best, and act as nothing more than the blueprint for what I would eventually come to write as my first proper novel. As we all know, that didn’t happen one iota.
As you can probably tell already, I poured so much of me and my life into this. If I could get away with mentioning a place I once visited in Wales, I did (spoiler alert I’ve visited the majority of the big towns in Wales by now so In Loving Memory is not escaping this same fate!). Reader’s parents live in the village I used to visit, reader lives in Cardiff. There’s a visit to Tenby, and Caldey, and that chapter alone is filled with my lived experiences of when I went many moons ago.
But the more I wrote it, and the more the story developed (all with the help of your support, I might add), the more aspects of my life started to weave their way into the story. My grandparents, specifically, became major influences to it. Places I visited with them, conversations we once had, and even down to the grief I felt when they died. The epilogue was so rough to write, but it did me a world of good.
I don’t think I ever got over my grandparent’s passing. I certainly never processed it at the time. They helped my mother raise me after my own father walked out, and we were incredibly close. I don’t say this for sympathy, I had a wonderful upbringing, (and my father can quite frankly suck it) but it did mean that losing them both so close together was the most pain I’ve ever felt.
I went back to the north west of Wales last summer, for the first time since they passed. My partner drove us over the brow of the hill, and it opened out onto the village. A village that, for over a decade, I called a second home. I broke down. Nothing had changed as I walked around, and it was like time itself had stood still while the world continued moving. I loved that, though, and it made me believe for a brief moment that if there is any kind of afterlife, at least my grandparents could come back here together and recognise where they were.
Going back fixed part of me, but I’d argue writing A Rough Sketch fixed me more. All the pain and agony of losing people who meant so much to me, writing about places that are unknown to so many, but are the reason I am who I grew into…it was like therapy, honestly. For the first time since they died I actively dealt with my grief, channelling it into my writing; the happiness, the sadness, and the pain.
But why am I telling you all this? The story of A Rough Sketch finished in July, and I’ve got In Loving Memory to work on now which adds to this universe. Why am I saying all this here? Why does it even matter?
This story is something which means so much to me that I struggle to actually put it into words. In spite of the fact I churned out over 260,000 words in this story, the right words to truly express how much this whole process meant to me fail me often. I hope I’ve managed to do some of my reasoning justice. But almost three months after closing the book on A Rough Sketch (pun entirely intended), I am still at a loss for words for the support and love this work received, and I don’t think I’ll ever find a way to thank you all so much. So, here we are. Writing a love letter to this fic, from me, but also me writing a thank you note to each and every one of you.
I’ve seen some discourse online recently about “Why do people turn fanfiction into books?”, criticising authors for wanting to do that. I’ve seen before the argument that “You only got views because it’s fanfiction. It won’t do those numbers as a book”. And, yeah, they’re not wrong. If this had been released as the original story I first envisioned it as, and not fanfiction, it absolutely wouldn’t be about to hit 18,000 reads.
But just because this started its life as fanfiction, doesn’t mean it’s bound to stay like this forever.
The story of A Rough Sketch will be very different when it is printed on pages to the one here on A03 – but you know what? I like that. This version is fanfiction, after all, and this version deserves to have its own space on the internet. I poured so much of myself into this work that it should be able to shine. And every single one of you who read, commented, and left kudos will forever be people I am in debt to because you helped me so much without even realising it.
I started this year feeling just okay, but I can honestly say that writing this story was the best thing I could have ever done. Whatever happens with this story, the way my life has changed since writing it is something I don’t think I’d have ever envisioned if you’d just told me what could happen. I would never have believed that writing fanfiction would bring me such clarity, peace, and a sense of closure. This story allowed me to be so vulnerable and to process things I’d had locked away for nearly five years now.
To say a fanfiction changed my life sounds absolutely insane, but that’s what happened here, and to the people who supported this work as it was going live week after week, this letter is for you as well. I can truly never say thank you enough to you all. Getting to write this has opened so many doors for me, and not just when it comes to writing. I found my happiness again while writing this, and so much of that I owe to my wonderful friends who I made along the way. I love you all so much.
Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. It warms me to see so many of you reading my other works, interacting with me on Twitter or Tumblr, or even coming back here. I hope that you can feel a sense of pride knowing how much your support helped me, especially given where I was at mentally while writing this. I now can’t imagine my life without spending at least an hour a day tapping away on my laptop, and while I’m sure some people would look at that and think I’m regressing back into my shell, if anything I have a new lease of life.
Thank you, to every single one of you.
All my love and thanks, forever,
LadyBess xxx

It’s so wild how agent Peña and whiskey are in two completely different universes yet I’m convinced they’re in the same one bc they are identical and I refuse to believe otherwise 🤣👨🏻! two entirely different characters but I always think of narcos and kingsman when I see one or the other. 🫨🫨🫨
P.s I love your little notifications when u are planning to post deserve it! It’s always something I look forward too!! Xoxo
And jeez! can’t a fandom thirst over a fictional character?! I mean if one is so repulsed by it then maybe this isn’t the platform for them cuz tumblr is a content platform for us fan geeks.
Keep up those posts and u Do u! They make me giggle btw 😘
You know anon, I actually thought of the same thing!!! Like the first time i thought of that I was planning the end of my deserve it series and i realized they have the cowboy background that's pretty much similar: the ranch, the animals, etc, though javi isn't much of a cowboy, it's a similarity.
Then, when i was thirsting over jack but couldn't actually find many gifs of him, i stared at a javier one and was like:
IS JAVIER PEÑA AGENT WHISKEY WITH NO HAT????
and it's funny because whiskey is so against drugs and javi works for the DEA so yeah, that's cool, isn't it??
Hehehe I like the little notes to let my besties know another chapter is coming, i just like how you guys get excited because i get so excited too and it always makes me happy!!!
I got off work now and I'll write some more but i don't think I'll finish tonight because i am so into this chapter i want it well written for you all 💘
Well yeah, idk what was up earlier but let's just ignore it and move on, I get a lot nicer messages than bad ones, lol!!!

ARGYLLE (2024)
Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, Sofia Boutella, Rob Delaney, Jing Lusi, Richard E. Grant, Louis Partridge, Stanley Morgan, Alfredo Tavares, Tomás Paredes, Alaa Habib, Bobby Holland Hanton, Kandy Rohmann, Fiona Marr and Chip the cat.
Screenplay by Jason Fuchs.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn.
Distributed by Universal Pictures. 139 minutes. Rated PG-13.
There is something a little bit off about the action spy comedy Argylle from the very beginning, and it’s not just the fact that the filmmakers don’t know how to spell argyle.
Still, it started out somewhat promisingly. It is the tale of a thirty-something middle-classed bachelorette named Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) who has become a best-selling author by writing a series of novels about a debonair spy named Argylle (which, for some reason is pronounced argyle even though with the double L spelling it should be pronounced “ar-jill.”)
Argylle is played by Henry Cavill, and it should be noted that Cavill has a relatively small role here, despite getting top billing and being front and center in the poster. Cavill is just playing the fictional character in some fantasy sequences strewn throughout the story.
Novelist Conway is the lead character here. She lives a fairly uneventful life, doing readings (in which she seems to read the entire book right up to the very end?) at local bookstores and hangs out with her beloved cat. She is finishing the fifth book in the Argylle series, but she seems to have hit a brick wall as far as ideas go. So she decides to take herself and her cat on a train (she’s afraid to fly) to visit her parents (Catherine O’Hara and Bryan Cranston) in the hope that the change of scenery will help her come up with an ending.
While on the train, she meets up with an eccentric traveler named Aidan (Sam Rockwell) who claims to be a fan – and a spy. He also claims that she had somehow stumbled on a story in the last book which actually had happened and there are bad guys that assume she knows more about real-life espionage than most would expect.
Suddenly people everywhere are trying to capture or kill Elly and she is thrown into an adventure more crazed than any that she had ever written. She must take to the road with Aidan in order to save her life and figure out who is after her and why. She is in near constant danger – as is her cat (honestly, the poor kitty is way mistreated in this film, thrown around, dropped off a high-rise building, shot at, and forced to spend hours stuck in a kitty backpack.)
The early parts of Argylle were actually pretty much fun, but then about halfway through the film there is a major plot twist that pretty much lost me. I won’t say what it is – spoilers and all – but if you see it you will surely know. Then after that twist, you either buy into what Argylle is selling or not, and frankly I really didn’t.
In the meantime, the film just keeps on and keeps on (nearly two-and-a-half hours for this?) with one flashy-but-cartoonish (and fairly inexplicit) action sequence after another. A highly choreographed gun, knife and hand-to-hand fight in the middle of billows of colored smoke and throbbing strobe lights pretty much show what you are getting here. If you think it looks cool, then you may like Argylle. I felt it looked kind of ridiculous. No one has fought like that since West Side Story – or at least since the “Beat It” video. And at least those fights didn’t have to put up with the sensory overload of the special effects.
Argylle is apparently a loose offshoot of the Kingsman movie series – films which I must admit I have never seen, although a friend of mine is a huge fan. And, from what I hear, the Kingsman films share this movie’s light action vibe. But I have to think, or at least hope, that the Kingsman films are better than this.

Same anon from the movie question: you're a Heath Ledger fan? Who are your other favourite actors?
I love these film related questions 😭
So here are my top actors. Some of them I have seen most of their filmography and others only a little but still think they are remarkably talented and/or entertaining. The favourites I’ve listed are purely about their performances, not necessarily the films themselves.
1) Heath Ledger. Obviously. I have loved him my whole life and I can barely think about the man without crying. He was phenomenal and could do anything. I’m so sad he didn’t get to see his own Oscar win. Favourites: 10TIHAY, A Knight’s Tale, Brokeback Mountain, The Dark Knight
2) Jake Gyllenhaal. Give this man an Oscar already. Every few months I suddenly remember his filmography exists and rewatch as much of it as I can. Favourites: Brokeback Mountain, Zodiac, Prisoners, Donnie Darko, Nightcrawler, Love & Other Drugs, (I could list several more)
3) Nicolas Cage. Okay so maybe he’s not the best actor in the world but I will watch anything this man is in. And I mean ANYTHING. Favourites: National Treasure, Knowing, TUWOMT, G-Force, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
4) Pedro Pascal. Another obvious one. He’s so good and I’m so glad he’s getting so much appreciation at the moment. Give him an Emmy please. Thank you. Maybe not the first that comes to mind when you think of “great actors” but certainly should be. Favourites: Prospect, TUWOMT, TLOU, The Mandalorian, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Narcos
5) Viola Davis. I cry every time she cries. She always hits me right in the gut and you can feel every ounce of pain. She’s EGOT for a reason. Favourites: HTGAWM, Prisoners, The Help, Fences
6) Angela Bassett. You know you’re going to see a good performance when Angela Bassett appears on your screen. Favourites: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, 911, AHS
7) Paul Dano. Soft-spoken and constantly being beat-up on screen. And yet he’s incredible every time. Favourites: The Batman, Little Miss Sunshine, Love and Mercy, Okja, There Will Be Blood, Prisoners, Swiss Army Man
8) Samuel L. Jackson. Every time this man says “motherfucker” I smile uncontrollably. Favourites: MCU, Pulp Fiction, The Incredibles, Star Wars, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Snakes on a Plane
9) Queen Latifah. Brings a certain energy that cannot be matched. Favourites: Chicago, Hairspray, Ice Age
10) Lucy Liu. I fell in love with her when I saw Charlie’s Angels for the first time. Favourites: Charlie’s Angels, Kung-Fu Panda, Chicago,
11) Michelle Yeoh. She’s just cool, man. I don’t know what else to say. Favourites: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Last Christmas, Reign of Assassins
12) Jeff Goldblum. He plays every character the same but IT WORKS and I love it every single time. Favourites: The Fly, Cats & Dogs, Thor: Ragnarok
13) Willem Dafoe. I never intentionally watch films with him in them but always get a million times more excited when he shows up in them. Favourites: Spider-Man, American Psycho, The Great Wall
14) Joe Mazzello. Underrated actor honestly, deserves a lot more appreciation and better roles. Petition to get him a better agent. A lot of his work as a child are great as well. Favourites: Bohemian Rhapsody, Jurassic Park, The Pacific, Undrafted, Dear Sidewalk, The Cure
15) Leigh Whannell. The guy is Australian and plays whiney, pathetic characters. What’s not to love? He’s also a great writer and director! Favourites: Saw, Dying Breed, Cooties, Insidious

I don’t write fiction. So why am I here? That's a story I’d like share.
Six months ago my husband and I got Disney+.  Among other reasons, I pitched that we'd finally get to see the Mandalorian, which our friends had been raving about. He was deeply unconvinced that we needed another streaming service.  And cable.  When the madness of Christmas was over we binge watched the Mandalorian, including all the “making of” specials, because that's a thing we do.  You all recall how ghastly Mando looked in that first season’s final episode, I'm sure.  So when we watched the specials, I was very confused by a really good looking guy named Pedro Pascal who spoke quite informatively about his role.  I’d never heard of him! I could possibly say I'd been hiding under a rock, but I looked at his credentials on IMDb. Of everything he appeared in we had see but two: that long ago episode of Buffy and Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle and I had no recollection of him in either.
“What!” you say, “You didn't watch Game of Thrones?”  Well, yes we did: to the end of Season 3 when we gave up (the Red Wedding did me in).  I embarked on remedial Pedro watching.  Along the way I started looking for articles and interviews, and finally saw the goof that he really is; the flip side of the fine, serious actor.
My husband started needling me about the amount of time and attention I was giving this obsession
new interest.  I’m raving fangirl (I mostly hide it well), so I looked for other fans, and here you are!
More tomorrow…
