"Well, Buddy is a yellow lab. He's s-s-s-seventeen inches at the shoulder with a short coat, and technically still a puppy. My mom got him for me as a g-g-g-gift when a friend of hers had a litter of puppies. He's very… He's very playful. His favorite game is Fetch. I play it with him almost every day. He's a lot of responsibility, but he's absolutely w-w-w-worth it."

"My Sophie is a white standard poodle. She's the sweetest thing, very cuddly. She's about twenty-three and a half inches at the shoulder, and we got her a modified continental cut so she looks pretty. Sophie also loves to go swimming and play in puddles. She can get muddy once in a while, I don't mind. I love making my Sophie Baby look all clean and pretty."

"Rex is a European Doberman. He's loyal, intelligent, and tough as nails. My parents got him for me as a gift. He's got a short coat and is twenty-eight inches at the shoulder. Before we adopted him, someone cropped his ears and docked his tail. That's illegal in my country, but whoever did it to him is bound to be dealt with eventually. Rex LOVES to roughhouse. It's exhausting, but whatever makes my Champion happy."

"My little Mitsi is a golden teacup Pomeranian. I found her at the animal shelter and simply had to have her. She's a tiny little thing, about eight and a half inches tall, but that only makes us love her more. She loves playing with her squeaky toys and will play tug-of-war with Rex and one of his rope toys. I almost named her "Fluffy" because of her coat, but "Fluffy" is more of a cat name, so I named her after my great aunt."

I have a Shiba Inu named Gigi. She's around sixteen inches at the shoulder, has a beautiful, golden goat, and the cutest curly tail. Giselle and I picked her up about a year ago when she was just a little puppy. She's such a precious little dog."

"My family recently adopted a French Bulldog named Lulu. She is the sweetest little thing. She's 13 months old, fawn-pied colored, and is about 18 inches tall at the head. Most Frenchies have breathing problems, but not my Lulu. Her snout is just big enough that she can breathe easily. And she is SUCH a loving dog. She adores people, cats, and other dogs. I can't tell you how many times she's jumped up on me to greet me."

Today was the day. Everyone was preparing for the mission, they needed to get the red team's Intel, just as they had so many times before. The trick was also defending their own.

Bait stood in the kitchen, helping Nikolai with making breakfast for the other eight people living on the base.

"Is easy to cook, eggs make good breakfast because they have good protein. Helps your body have energy." The team's Heavy explained, placing a bowl on the counter and picking up an egg. "You tap on counter so it cracks, they go in bowl and then you use whisk to break them up" he continued to explain, showing the clone how to properly crack the eggs into the bowl.

The younger man followed his instructions, carefully cracking an egg into the bowl. He continued to help in the kitchen, cracking eggs and doing whatever else he was instructed to do. It was nice to actually help as they made breakfast together.

By the time the pair had finished preparing breakfast, everyone had gathered in the common area, the space somewhat crowded as everyone had their own little conversations. Bait found himself at the dining table, alongside everyone else, a decent little serving of breakfast on his plate. The Spy took a seat beside his clone, resting a hand on his shoulder for a moment before reaching into the internal pocket of his suit.

"I have a gift for you." The Spy spoke in a quiet tone, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he took a simple golden watch from his pocket, fastening it around one of Bait's wrists. "If you choose to accompany us on this mission, this will help keep you safe. Press this button here to cloak yourself, as long as you stay still, you will be undetectable." The spy explained, pointing to the button on the side of the watch.

The clone listened carefully, nodding as the spy explained how to use the cloaking device.

"It is your choice. Whether you stay here or come with us, it's your decision to make."

"I do not care what he decides!" Soldier piped up "We do not know if he can fight! He is a liability! What do you think you're doing, Frenchie? He's going to get himself killed!" He stood up from his seat, placing his hands firmly on the table as he spoke, his helmet still mostly covering his eyes.

"We all get ourselves killed, you idiot. That's why we have the respawn machine. Medic has already added him to the system in case anything does happen." Spy groaned slightly, pinching the bridge of his nose for a moment as he looked at the Soldier.

"Good point. I will sit back down now." The Soldier did as he said, plopping back down in his chair and continuing to eat his breakfast.

After breakfast, everyone went their separate ways, gathering their belongings and weapons that they would need before regrouping for the second time that day. The Engineer explained the plan, mapping out different routes in and out of the RED intelligence room, Spy assisting where he could with explaining who could do what. The two worked well together, occasionally sparing affectionate glances towards one another as they discussed.

The debriefing went well, and Bait had decided to come with the rest of the crew. Spy helped him find a uniform, giving him one of his balaclavas that he no longer wore. The suit was light and maneuverable, it all felt so natural to him as he adjusted his hat slightly. Maybe he would actually be able to fight... If only he could face his fears.

You're so right! Puppies are a HUGE time commitment with all the training and socialization necessary for a healthy happy dog! A lot of times, people will opt for notoriously friendly breeds like labradors or goldens because they think they'll be easy, but don't realize that even though they're kind, social dogs, they're bred to work! They're HIGH ENERGY and also very needy.

Puppies are a huge lifestyle change but they're so so worth it if a shift in daily schedule is possible! Morgan is adorable, I would love pupdates as she grows up <3

there’s a reason labs and goldens took turns being the most popular dogs in America for a while (frenchies are actually the current most-popular) - they’re really social animals, they’re very very trainable (morgan is VERY SMART GIRL who has ALREADY LEARNED a lot of important things and she’s like… a baby). but yes, they’re also higher-energy dogs! with labs and goldens this will depend somewhat on the dog’s lineage as well - chocolate labs are notoriously kind of crazy, for example, but also you’re looking for “show line” dogs rather than a hunting dog if you’re getting a family pet, as labs and goldens bred for hunting actually tend to be a bit different from the “standard” you’ve met before and also are higher-energy dogs who need more work to do.

but like, even a morgan, who is indeed show lineage and not hunting and also from a lineage of dogs that were mostly family pets in their time instead of working dogs, will require a LOT of exercise - I think the number the breeder gave me is that she should be walking as much as three miles every day, and I plan on teaching her stuff like tug to get energy out, and also I’m already worried she’s a little bored in her puppy area and am planning on expanding that out and getting more brain toys (like treat hiding puzzles). goldens are not actually a bad first dog, so long as you’re confident in your ability to control a larger dog, as they don’t tend to be as “aloof” or as obstinate as some dogs can be, and also are VERY trainable both due to being smart and due to being extremely food-motivated, but they’re very needy dogs who get lonely easily, so that should be kept in mind! also, big dogs need big space and if you don’t have a yard, there are other dogs that are much better for that (I’m pretty sure that’s why frenchies became so popular; they’re much more apartment-sized dogs). this is actually also part of why I can be a LITTLE wary of doodles; poodles tend to be higher-strung than the golden and while the GOAL is “poodle fur/low-shedding with a golden temperament” you can never be fully certain with a crossbreed that you won’t get “golden fur and shedding with a poodle temperament”, which is a different dog. (standard poodles tend to be less high-strung than the minis and toys to be fair, but they’re still somewhat more high strung dogs than a golden.) also goldens are a large breed and remain “puppy” for like, two years, so if you aren’t prepared to handle puppy energy that long maybe go for a different breed.

…as you might imagine I did a bunch of research. this is a huge paragraph. but YES. they’re so worth it if you can handle the lifestyle change that it requires. my body is still trying to adjust to the fact that I now have to wake up at like, 6:30 am, and go to bed by 11 pm, so that puppy learns schedule and also because puppy guaranteed 100% cannot last longer in her crate than that and even that’s pushing it a LITTLE, although she’s been surprisingly good about sleeping through the night so far. but she’s so good and cute and I love her already so, as stated. it is worth it!

Riker: Immediately I thought, 'easy, he's got big golden retriever energy.' but then. I remembered he's from Alaska. So obviously he has to be a Husky. Same friendly, no braincells energy but with a penchant for mischief.

Troi: I think a cocker spaniel would be a good fit for troi. Intuitive, yet cheerful dogs, quite like her.

Episode 2x02 of The Boys! Okay, that was too much tv for one day, my head is not liking it. Note to self, no more than one episode a day.

It’s impressive how well the show keeps so many storylines happen in one episode without making it feel excessive. I think I’ll say something for each storyline, actually. I’m enjoying this.

The boys - it’s happening even faster than I thought, Hughie setting the basis for becoming the leader of the group, or least the one that restructures how the group works. Frenchie called Butcher because he thinks they need Butcher as their leader, but they have outgrown Butcher. Butcher needs to catch up with them now, change his behavior and stop with the omissions. He does a little bit when he realizes the others are not following him, telling them about Becca and all, but he still has a long way to go. All of them have way to go as a team.

Stormfront is intriguing, or better yet, Edgar’s intentions in hiring her are. Because the narrative made a big deal out of her being the only one that Edgar chose himself. The others were approved by Homelander, i.e. they were Stillwell’s creatures. (One could speculate whether Edgar promoting Stillwell was a way to control her better, but now that she’s dead, we can’t really tell.)

When Annie joined the Seven and acted against the script, she was immediately reprimanded to try to rein her in. Stormfront is openly acting in a way that goes blatantly against the regular superhero propaganda of Vought, and with Edgar telling Homelander that they’re not a superhero company but a pharmaceutical company, I’m wondering if Edgar’s plans are to dismantle the current superhero propaganda line (Stillwell’s creation rather than his?) for something else, something that does not need Homelander the way Stillwell’s line did.

In addition to this, I believe she’s there to investigate on the others. Her pushing Annie’s buttons so insistently have led Annie to reveal a lot about herself that she really shouldn’t have. That she agrees with Stormfront’s remarks on Vought, that she’s not what she appears, that speaking too freely about Vought is not safe--girl, you cannot trust a stranger with this information! Be careful!

(I wonder if with all this “if Homelander finds out about this you’re dead!!” is narrative irony and it’s not actually Homelander she needs to be careful of. Well, it kinda happened already with A-Train, although in this case the threat is that A-Train goes talking to Homelander.)

Now, speaking of Homelander--ouch. He actually has Feelings(TM) about the situation with the kid. I think he’s sincere when he basically says he’s desperate to find someone like him, because being “a god” is so isolating and lonely, and he also projects (not necessarily being wrong about it) his trauma about growing up in a lab onto Ryan’s situation of growing up in what is essentially a golden cage, but still a prison. Of course it’s a prison to keep something out rather than something in, but when you build a wall to keep something out, you also keep something in. He has a point when he brings this up to Becca, although of course the reason all of this is happening is that Becca (and Vogelbaum) wanted the kid to be the least like Homelander he could possibly be, which is not a bad concept.

(I think the thing will blow up in both Becca’s and Homelander’s faces in different ways. Then again, what in this show doesn’t blow up in people’s faces.)

The Deep’s situation is quite interesting because he’s being taken in by a straight-on textbook cult, but it could actually help him out (until it doesn’t) or at least be a catalyst for him to help himself. I guess it will be an Experience(TM), painful but useful. I wonder if Eagle is a cult man through and though or if he has his own goals (joining the Seven himself?). I have suspicions. I think you can imagine what my suspicions are.

That first shot of his paper where it says “What could I not live without” and his answer is a large MY TALENT makes me also suspect he’s going to lose it at some point. Bit of too on your nose, you know? He also has a pattern of really shitty luck. We also gotta introduce the concept of the possibility of a supe losing their powers sooner or later, right?

A-Train--I really feel for the guy. He’s not a bad guy and the circumstances of the narrative placing him opposite the protagonists is so frustrating (in a good narrative way obviously). He and Popclaw made distructive mistakes that stemmed from the fact that their powers are more of a curse for them than blessings. One could argue it goes for everyone in the show (I mean, it’s true), but A-Train and Popclaw’s arc serves the purpose to highlight how much of a curse these powers are rather than a blessing (in their case, a literal drug that leads to her death and almost kills him too). The official story is that supes are chosen by Jesus, the harsh reality is that their powers are really not good for them, and they end up lonely and making bad life choices because of them. I do hope A-Train gets some peace eventually, but I’m not getting my hopes too up.

Speaking of how supes are made - oh, Kimiko’s brother. Interesting arc. Until now, “terrorists” were random extras we didn’t have an attachment to, but now we have an emotional attachment to him through Kimiko. He represents the people who do become “terrorists” because they have a cause for it - they want to destroy America because America destroyed their people first. Kimiko’s brother saw a man clothed with the American flag come down from the sky and slaughter his village. Of course the narrative cannot say he’s “right”, because America is both the Homelanders but also the Hughies and the MMs so wanting to destroy it all is too extreme, but it’s still interesting that, by giving this perspective to a character that we have a kind of attachment to, shows us that it might be a “wrong” perspective but still one that has a validity to it. Our protagonist do want to destroy the toxic capitalistic, militaristic part of America, after all.

Maeve. Now that she’s come clean to her ex about the reason she left her, I am really afraid for the poor woman’s chances of survival. I mean, not because of Maeve, but because of how narratives function. I’m afraid the hospitalization for something minor is foreshadowing for something way more severe.

She’s so cute in civilian clothes. Please put Maeve in more sweaters. Actually put more characters in more sweaters in general. #sweatersupremacy

On a final note, the reason why Homelander kept Butcher alive. He didn’t have to. He could have just pulverized him and get rid of the problem. Butcher would have been imputed for Stillwell’s murder and mysteriously disappeared forever. I suppose it’s because Homelander respects/is impressed by him? How many people, after all, are not afraid of Homelander? Does Homelander not want him out of the picture because he’s a challenge, something he has so little of?

a smol, shaky cavachon mix who did very well for his haircut

a golden puppy who had perhaps the worst owner i’ve encountered so far

a happy aussie boy whose owner was rude to us :/

a tan frenchie who was very suspicious of our biscuit treats but happily took the chicken

an exceptionally friendly goldendoodle

a very tiny yorkie who’d just gotten back from surgery next door ;_;

I wouldn’t own a French Bulldog because I think breeding dogs we know will have health problems is bad but wow do they have this personality. Every Frenchie I have ever met had been wild. They scream, they go from 0-60 in half a second, they’re excited. If given the change they will jump 5 feet in the air, or launch themselves into your lap (or your head, which happened to me and it’s still the funniest thing ever)

And Aussies/Collies? They’re such PEOPLE DOGS. They don’t even fucking care about other dogs they’re like “fuck off what if the human gives me a comand I have to be LISTENING” and I love them. Labs too, they’re like chill collies. Winemariners are all neurotic but I love them too because they’re big spooky-looking babies who just need reassurance all the time. Doodles are the devil (even if they’re fucking cute, and smart, and nice dogs). They’re crazy, can turn out HUGE and are always messy because no one gets their hair cut. Golden Retrievers are the sweetest fucking dogs i’ve ever met and I would die for the one we have at work he’s perfect. Little dogs are lovely, even if they can be assholes. I just FUCKING LOVE DOGS AND I MISS THEM

I wish common traits of popular dog breeds were more widely known.

Like oh, you want a Lab? Be prepared to exercise with them for HOURS every day. They are not low-energy dogs. They need to exert themselves or they will do things like eat your clothes/get into your pantry/destroy your things/etc. Also, there are a ton of really poorly bred/inbred labs that have a lot of health issues -so be prepared to spend a good amount of money on vet bills. 

Want a Golden Retriever? Basically all the same problems as a Lab, but you also have to be prepared to take care of all that fur.

German Shepherd? It’s a working dog. You will not be able to leave this dog alone all day. They are some of the most anxious fuckers I’ve ever met. You will need to spend a lot of time training them or they will be destructive and/or aggressive. These are the kind of dogs that will eat through your wall when you leave them home alone. On top of that, they’re very poorly bred and WILL have health issues. I’ve honestly never met one over the age of 5 that hasn’t had some sort of health problem.

English Bulldog? Please don’t get one. Please. Do. Not. Get. One. Humans have fucked them up so much with terrible breeding. These are a few of the COMMON health issues that they have: major respiratory problems, overheating, severe skin allergies, eczema, dry skin, acne, arthritis, degenerative spine disease, cherry eye, hip dysplasia, joint & ligament injuries, idiopathic head tremors, heart disease, and cancer. 

Frenchie? All the problems of an English Bulldog in a smaller package. I know everyone thinks they’re so cute, but please... don’t support the horrific damage that people have done to the breed.

Pug? A lot of the same problems as a Frenchie or English Bulldog, but with the addition of issues that come with bulging eyes. Again.... Please don’t. If you want the funny personality of a Pug, try to look for a pug mix - they will likely be healthier. 

Husky? Prepare yourself for a huge trouble-maker. This is a high energy dog that needs something to do. You’re going to need to have a lot of free-time to spend with them and a lot of patience. They don’t like being left alone for too long and they’re amazing escape artists. A husky at my job once climbed the chain link fencing of her kennel and tore through the chicken wire that was zip tied over the top, tearing off multiple nails in the process.  Additionally, they have a LOT of fur. They shed a ton and you will need to brush them constantly. They’re also not a good dog to have in hotter climates. 

Chihuahua? Don’t get one if you just want a cute little thing to dress up and carry around. They have a big attitude, and need to be trained and exercised like any other dog. If you don’t respect their body language/warnings that tell you when they’re uncomfortable, they will end up biting you.

Australian Shepherd/Border Collie? I’m putting these two together because they are very similar. They’re herding dogs. They have a lot of energy and they’re very smart. If you don’t exercise and train them, they will get BORED, and that will lead to nothing but trouble. Also, they tend to live pretty long lives, so be prepared to have this dog for 15 years.

Miniature Dachshund? Oh man. Be prepared for a lot of personality. This is one of the hardest dog breeds to train, and that includes housebreaking!! So don’t get this dog if you can’t handle a few “accidents” in the house. They’re stubborn, they bark a lot, they love to dig, and they want to kill small critters. Be careful with them - they’re prone to back problems and some other health problems. And they’re another breed that lives a long time. My miniature dachshund lived 16 years. 

( I don’t mean to sound condescending or mean at all, so please forgive me if I come across that way. I just work with so many dogs every day and I see a lot of people get dogs that they don’t know how to deal with. It’s very frustrating/upsetting and I wish there was a way to prevent it. )
