you don't understand just how monumentally stupid shooting that Australian reporter with a rubber bullet live on tv was. That reporter works for Channel Nine which is, I would argue, Australia's most conservative free to air tv channel. And keep in mind that most people in Australia don't have cable. It is owned by the Packer family, the gambling tycoons who own Crown Casinos and are friends of the Murdoch family. More specifically, James Packer and Lachlan Murdoch are friends and have done business deals together in the past (to not a great success). Americans might be more familiar with Lachlan's work overseeing Fox News for the past decade or so.

Up until that shot was fired, that reporter was giving the mildest of reporting. The bare bones of what was physically happening on the ground without the context needed to understand why the protesters were there in the first place. It was designed to look unbiased whilst leading people to side with the cops. And then you shot her in the leg.

Salve:) do you have any Italian YouTube commentary channels (or any channels of commentary isn’t your thing) where they don’t speak super fast? I want to get used to how the language sounds ~

Salve :) I don't know any commentary channels (maybe @sayitaliano can help? Or anyone else who reads this - feel free to add your suggestions), but here are some other channels that are easy to understand as a beginner:

- italiano con Lucrezia (has vlogs, grammar explanations, book recommendations, vocabulary, etc)

- italiano con amore (talks about italian culture, recipes, language learning advice etc)

- podcast italiano (italian language and culture, the difficulty varies (I think they are sorted by level? At least on the podcastitaliano homepage they are), but he generally speaks pretty slowly and clearly

- Easy Italian (this is great for hearing different people speak: it's short videos of street interviews about a range of topics, with simultaneous subtitles in English and Italian).

Those are the ones I watched a lot in the beginning. I hope you find something you like! Italian is truly a beautiful language, enjoy your journey with it! :)

I wish youtube or social media as a whole had a feature where you could put in a language and based on the data that youtube is already abusing for advertisments, would suggest videos and channels who make content that fit to your own consumption habits in that language

Armored Core: Ass Man

Way WAY Better than I expected. Some flaws -- but probably due to Peter Watts (the writer) not having enough creative control, or involvement with storyboarding. Blame Amazon for that.

Keanu's acting suggests he's known addicts personally -- not just for the vocalizations but completely nailing the very specific flavour of emotionally-eroded-escapist-exceptionalist-egotism it brings, which probably means him and Watts are on the same page. Phenomenal.

Watts doesn't quite get mechsploitation/mechposting but for an outsider he gets impressively close more than once and he is playing many of the right notes.

Fights are pretty good.

Slightly too much exposition.

Could stand to be significantly more horny and existential.

Genuinely impressed.

Edit: Just learned about River Phoenix. Keanu's clearly chanelling people he's met. The pathos, dignity and sincerity, and tragedy and the understanding of the power-fantasy at the root of every addiction is peak. This could have been cynical and it wasn't. Very very impressed.
