hiya medusa its been a while! im curious - as someone who has been watching phil for a while now, have you noticed anything specific thats changed with how he does rp/creates his characters? ive not had the chance to see much of his qsmp stuff, but i imagine having done various smps with various levels of rp/lore, there must have been changes to his approach

Okay so there have been two big changes from DSMP to QSMP that I've noticed. The first one is just that Phil is way more willing to do lore, and to tell his own story? In DSMP he was constantly deferring to whoever the writers were for the arc and never wanted to run over any of that, so he'd be really reluctant to join RP when it wasn't "official canon" and he'd be very careful not to overstep the bounds of the story other people had written. It was always lore being written by someone else— wilbur or techno or tommy or sam or dream— I think the syndicate end is the only one he actually fully wrote? On QSMP he's WAY more open with telling his own story. With the ender king possession arc that we just had, he just role-played for I think over two hours over two different streams, and that was a story he built collaboratively with the admins, but it was also one he clearly had a hand in himself. So I would say just the willingness to roleplay and tell a story is much increased. And he's using cinematics and special Minecraft skins and voice modulators— he's going for it!

The other change is uh, the gay roleplay and flirting. If you watch things like Hexxit Homies Phil definitely used to be more comfortable playing into the relationship rp, but on DSMP he was surrounded by minors or characters he was canonically related to or creators who didn't really go for flirting on-screen (techno). So all of that stopped. And then he went to QSMP and FitMC was there, and Charlie Slime, and Etoiles, and Missa, and boy. Phil flirts back/rps back now. And will say things like "stay away from my platonic husband!" and put his bed next to someone's, and pole dance on his husband, and tell FitMC he's stolen his heart, and talk about his cock with Etoiles, and much more. You can just tell that he has way less issue with the jokes and the implications now. Which honestly makes perfect sense, playing into gay rp with someone who can legally rent a car and who is clearly delightedly making jokes about it is not the the same as with a sixteen year old. To understate the situation slightly.

👨‍❤️‍👨 - Are Beeduo a healthy relationship?

It’s definitely not a perfectly healthy relationship but I feel like it’s healthier than some of the others relationships on the dsmp. They have a pretty bad lack of communication and trust, which has caused some issues/problems. Given the fact that they are traumatized teenagers, I’m not surprised that they have trust, communication, or relationship issues. I have absolutely no doubts that they love one another, but I think with some work on communication and trust, it has the potential be a healthier relationship.

🌟 - Was Technoblade justified in executing Tubbo?

I don’t really think it was justified. understandable? maybe, I know peer pressure can make people do stupid shit. but I don’t know about justified. I can never fully get behind most theories on why he did it, at most I can just find it understandable. I think in the end tubbo was a kid and should have never been executed, no matter who did it.

I’ve been revisiting it recently, working on extending scenes + a new chapter (so hopefully it’ll be updated to a slightly better version soon) but even as is I’m still really happy with it, that I took the plunge to actually share my writing :)

47. what story are you most proud of?

Oh that's a hard one. I have a few stories I've done that I've loved but most proud of is probably the one that's been living in my wips for over a year now: My Friendly Crystal. Literally my only original work that has lasted this long and one day I will let the world see it I hope. Not today tho lmao.

73. how do you visualize scenes? do you see it like a movie in your head, or do the words just flow?

depends on what I'm writing I guess, usually I visualize it as like an audio book with little visual cue screens I guess? and if I'm trying to have it be read in a certain way, like I want it to read like a video transcript, I try to imagine how it would sound and feel done in that medium :)

an example of this was when I wrote a (now scrapped) chatfic and wrote it imaging what it's like to text in a group chat and then move to talking in person and decided to add in stuff like video transcripts and switching to games in the middle of conversations. but that took so long to get through about 5k and it was only a quarter of a way through the story so I had to stop, too much work !! too much code !!! I made a functioning little game for it i was too deep haha

sorry if this is a bad/nonsensical take im wildly hungover but i honestly think part of peoples skirting away from just shipping Phil with people is that he isn't conventionally attractive. like tbh if the man looked like.... [insert hot male celebrity here] i think any "age difference" wouldn't even be a point of argument. i will try to elaborate if this doesn't make sense lol

Okay so I am stuck in my house and I turn up to every phil stream as the background noise to my housebound life so Phil's face is VERY familiar to me. So I did honestly forget that that could be an element. But I have definately seen people commenting on phots of like wil and phil together, or phil and kristin together, like "lol we see who got the looks in the family" or "how do the most beautiful women pull the most mid guys" so like, that could definately be an element? People pulling a "face only a mother could love" but with assigning him dad instead of assigning him "person people kiss".

But with that said, that is just silly to me. For one thing, I'm not thinking about the real person's face, that is a happily married guy in the north of england, I'm thinking about the murdery bird man. And people draw that bird man VERY pretty. And for another, even if you were drawing from the streamer's face for your art, he looks FINE. He looks like someone my coworker would be happily dating and talking affectionately about how much of a nerd he is but also how he made a cake for her birthday. Like, come on, not everybody looks like Wilbur/Forever/Cellbit/Shubble/Niki/Quackity but we're still allowed to find them attractive!

Yeah that could be an element, which just goes to show how silly twitter is. It's fine to find people attractive, and also it's fine to find normal-looking people attractive. Open your mind, twitter folks.

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

ooohmygod where do i even start okay okay

authors in no particular order: Tamsyn Muir (The Locked Tomb series) is hilarious first of all, and also made me really start considering narration/character perspective. Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games, Gregor the Overlander) imprinted on my tiny 11 year old brain and is probably the reason i like to write in present tense. other authors i read as a kid: Gail Carson Levine (Ella Enchanted), Jeanne Birdsall (The Penderwicks), Annie Wedekind (A Horse of Her Own (reread this recently and realized i write scenerie a lot like her lol)). Casey McQuiston (Red White & Royal Blue) has definitely been a more recent influence.

for fic: @astronomeridian writes smut that sounds like real genuine people having sex and is always on my mind when im trying to write smut. @some-sort-of-siren 's college!au is a definite influence on LDDF, i just love how it writes dialogue, every conversation is so vivid and raw and real. also like, not to expose myself a little, but runchrandom/infraredphaeton

Z: Major character death–do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate?

honestly this is so fandom specific. i wrote a hunger games AU, im not exactly opposed. I think there's beautiful tragic mcyt fics and i eat them up. but like, main character death in rwrb isn't for me. so it's not about characters, more about fandom vibe lol
