20240720: the History of LEGO Castle day 202. 70404 King's Castle (2013, 1003 pieces, 216 different parts) King's Castle is a light bluish gray (LBG) castle with blue high accents, with white and blue plastic flags and triangular shields displayed above the gate. There are seven minifigures in this set. -The Lion King has a metallic gold crown, a yellow minifigure head with white and LBG full beard, a dark blue cloth cape, a dark blue dual-sided torso with medium blue arms and yellow hands, a white printed fur lining with a gold crown chain and eleborate gold belt over a medium blue shirt, and printed dark blue legs with black nets along the hips and a gold chain and a printed dark blue belt with gold squares. The torso and legs are unique to this set. The head was only found in six sets. -The dragon knight has a black knight helmet, a dual-sided yellow minifigure head with black facial scruff, bushy black eyebrows and brown circles under the eyes, a dual-sided black torso with red arms and black hands with printed silver square studded mail, a silver printed belt with a silver buckle, a red dragon head with a red border on a black triangular print in the center, a silver neck protector with silver buckles on the back, black armor with a red dragon head on a black triangular background with a red border, and black legs with printed hexagonal red kneepads and a black printed belt. -A dragon soldier has a black axe helmet, a dual-sided yellow minifigure head with thick dark red sideburns and rat patch, a dual-sided black torso with red arms and black hands with printed silver square studded mail, a silver printed belt with silver buckle, a red dragon head with a red border on a black triangular print in the center, a silver neck protector with silver buckles on the back, black armor with a silver neck protector and a red front-facing dragon head on a black triangular background with a red border, and black legs with printed hexagonal red kneepads and a black printed belt. -A dragon soldier has a black angled cheek protection helmet, a yellow dual-sided minifigure head with black sideburn scruff and an open mouth grin missing one tooth, a dual-sided black torso with red arms and black hands with printed silver square studded mail, a dark brown printed belt with a silver buckle, a red dragon head with a red border on a black triangular print in the center with dark brown buckles on the back, and plain black legs. -A castle soldier has a metallic silver pike helmet, a yellow minifigure head with black facial scruff, a dual-sided dark bluish gray (DBG) torso with blue arms and black hands, silver chain mail with a silver neck protector collar, and a dark brown belt with a gold crown printed in the center, and DBG legs with a black belt. -Castle soldier with metallic silver axe helmet, yellow minifigure head with black eyebrows and a neutral mouth, two cheek marks, a DBG torso with blue arms and black hands and a dual-sided printed white and blue halved shirt with a brown cross-torso belt and a brown waist belt with gold crown symbol, and DGB legs with a black belt. -A knight with a flat silver helmet with blue plume and LGB gray visor, a yellow minifigure head with DBG sideburns, a dual-sided DBG torso with blue arms and black hands, printed silver plate mail with a large gold crown in the center over a halved white and blue background with a silver chain belt and a brown and gold clasp, flat silver lion armor, and DBG legs with printed metallic silver hip armor and a printed black buckle with silver notches. Rare and unique pieces in this set include: -The blue and white horse barding with side lion head, pearl gold horse battle helmet, and plastic blue and white banners with lion head emblem are all unique to this set. -White horse with black bridle and posable legs was found in 5 sets. you know something that I never really understood when first watching the show was jestros job, like before he became evil. the wiki says he was "King's jester" which probably just means he entertain guests at parties (that we know the king freaking loves). However, jestro, if we're honest, wasn't that good of a jester due to his low self-esteem. Jesters are supposed to be witty, confident, musicians, and storytellers, and we never actually see jestro do any of these things in front of a crowd besides the first episode i think. i mean yeah he tells monstrox about his past which can kinda count as storytelling and he is seen to be pretty witty, that's only after he joined the battle on evil on the side of evil. this leads me to believe that he was more of a clown than a jester. he doesn't seem to have a close relationship with the king (jesters were sometimes a king's most trusted confidant), he is only brought in front of crowds for juggling (not jokes or storytelling), and people don't respect him (they laugh at him, not with him). also knowing jestro, he probably felt like a failure as a jester and that definitely didn't help his self-esteem

Then if you have really acute hearing you can hear two easterlings in suits sneak a silents as only trained ninjas can across the roofs, these clandestine soldiers communicate with sign-language so they can´t be overheard while on mission... but actually the wouldn´t need to be this silent since soon a very loud hunt and by two dogs chasing a cat across the square in front of the old parliament building where the Wizard-King have his base in the divided capital... it is also here the two assassins and spies stop and hide behind two flags above the parliament gate... Now in the middle of the night a human voice with a foreign accent is heard: - Flesh lotten fish! Flesh lotten fish, come and buy some extla cheap lotten fish, half the plize I take... Only half a fish for half a lotten Gloat or pelaps a whole fol a gold coin, vely cheap!!! it is the Fishmongrel trying to sell some of his surplus fish on the black-market dead at nigh... nothing rare or odd with that! That is just an ordinary day in this city, neither is the woman who´s still up expecting a shady night costumer, but her costumer was scared away by the next thing happening on this square, a miners wagon pulled by a drought horse and a small rickshaw-like pull-wagon arrives, both loaded with the rare power crystals the Wizard-King Need so desperate... then out of thin air black falcon troops rush out of the old building like armor clad ants the take their positions, then follow a troika of Slavic elite Guards and finally the crowned Wizard-King Himself!!! the following conversation follows: - (Wiz-king) Good Lads, very well done, how many kilos are there? - (Lorry driver) Exalted king out of king and mage out of mages, I think we have collected about the weight of 25 standard men, a fortune, one of our miners died when the cave caved in, when we dug him up he was already dead as squashed tomato! - (Wiz-King) oh, how sad to here that you lost a coworker, he will be added to our holy list of heroes when the siege and civil war is over... - (Lorry Driver) No, worries, his widow will get 50% of his share of the gold we will be payed for these crystals... - (Wiz-King) Gold, eah, well, I will pay you after the siege and after our glorious side have won the civil war.... - (Lorry Driver): Hey No way, you promised us gold straight away, isn´t that right Turnip and Molelander... The two other miners nod! - (Lorry Driver): if you don´t want to pay perhaps Prince Albert will!!! the Wizard-Kings eyes turn even darker than they were before then he screams: - (Wiz-king): Traitors I knew it, Guards seize the nasty traitors and confiscate their transports and and all of their belongings, put them in the prison dungeon together with the worst criminals.. the guards and soldiers carry out their masters bidding! the shadowy figures above use sign language to say: We have enough information, let´s head back to the palace to inform the Prince!!!

20240115: the History of LEGO Castle day 015. 6080-1 King's Castle (1984, 679 pieces, 91 different parts) Size-wise, the King's Castle is the largest area of any castle so far, though the 375-2 / 6075-2 "Yellow" Castle still has more pieces. That's mostly because the King's Castle is built using 30 of the large 2x5x6 light gray castle wall panels. The castle itself is light gray built on three thin green baseplates; one 16x32 and two 16x22. The large 16x32 plate is for the main tower, which includes not only a black drawbridge with string attachment, but also a black brick-built portcullis, also with a string attachment so you could raise and lower it! The front of the main gate is decorated with two crossed brown lances and one each of the blue lion on a yellow background with a red border on a triangular shield and the brand new yellow lion on a blue background with a red border on a triangular shield. This main gate plus the two rear towers all have red and yellow flags waving in the wind; one of several indications of the Crusaders or Lion Knights. The front portion of the castle attaches with hinges to the other two green baseplates, allowing for a full opening of the castle and attachments to other, smaller sets such as 6040-1 Blacksmith Shop, 6061-1 Siege Tower, and even 6073-1 Knight's Castle. The King's Castle also features the same back two tower design as has been common with LEGO castle sets so far, but this castle is unique in being the first LEGOLAND Castle System set so far to actually include a staircase in the back so minifigures can actually get to the parapet and defend the castle, though there still isn't a way for the minifigures to get to the two rear towers. The King's Castle came with two black horses and two white horses, two knights with red torsos and blue arms with a silver breastplate and blue legs with a black belt, two knights with red torsos and black arms with a silver breastplate and red legs with a black belt, four axe-wielders with red torsos and blue arms and the gold and black crossed axe pattern on a blue background triangular shield with blue legs and a black belt, and introduced the archer with a red torso with blue arms and a gold lion on a blue background with a gold triangular shield outline with red legs and a black belt. Only the "Yellow" Castle (375-2 / 6075-2) has more minifigures and minifigures in this set have swords, shields, bows and arrows, halberds (which I still do this day call axes), spears, lances, capes, three different kinds of helmets in two different colors, four different plume colors, and horses with saddles! This set had a number of difficult to find pieces, most notably the white horse saddle, which is only found in this set (6080-1) and the Jousting Knights (6021-1) also from 1984. The black 1x4x6 door, used for the jail in the back right hand corner of the castle, was also only found in two western sets in 1996 (6769-1 and 6761-1) and the upcoming 6062-1 Battering Ram from 1987. The bricks themselves are still without inside ridges (such as the 2x2, 2x3, and 2x4 bricks). The 1984 King's Castle has a lot of memories for me. I think this was my very first LEGO set. I remember getting this one LEGO castle set as my absolute only present that year and how my entire family from grandparents to siblings to parents all combined their resources to get me this for Christmas when I was very young. I have built, disassembled, and rebuilt this castle more times than I can count and it's actually a really amazing feeling to use my own bricks from my childhood to build this set. I told so many stories with this set and it's definitely got a special place in my building experience. This is the first set I've reviewed designed by Niels Milan Pedersen and you can find a list of other sets he's designed on BrickSet. (ngl i kinda channel all my unresolved art inspiration from Lego Monkie Kid there lol I was so in love with the show a couple of years ago, but never got around to drawing any fanart)

Uhh, tbh I do not have many of them? <;D So far I have a few common/boring ones (which are mostly about monkeys in general lol??):

While Apetrully is the 33d Monkey King, due to his obligations in Big Green, the Monkey Castle is ruled by a council of most trusted, in his name.

Since we never see any other Monkeys in the show, I like to think that they are one of the biggest pacifists in the Hidden Kingdom but Apetrully was an outlier who, while a pacifist is the one who wants to DO something for peace. Other monkeys? Not so much. But, as one of the richest species, they sponsor Apetrully's war/peace efforts, even if they do not participate in them.

Apetrully is a blacksheep amongst his people. A lot of monkeys are sort of 'royalty', high on social status (maybe because of their connection to legendary First Monkey King...) and do not spend much time socializing with others, while Apetrully eagerly reached out to both other animals and humans. But his people actually see it as a good thing, so he has a lot of support as 33d King (with a tiiiiny exception of dissedants in his court, but thats not for here and now ;3)

I like to think that Apetrully was an orphan, who lost his parents, but was saved by some outsiders and brought back home to Monkey Castle. That small kind interaction with other animals/humans became a seed for his desire of everyone living together in peace.

We saw that Apetrully has some battle prowess, so I like to think that he was educated not only in politics/logistics of war as he was growing up, but also trained physically, but his pacifism and beliefs prevent him from making much use of that knowledge.

I like to think that he is much more graceful than anyone suspects, but because he is constantly in disguise he kinda acts more clumsy than he actually is.

It krept up on him suddenly, but after the finale of defeating the Twin Masters and High Roller, Apetrully realized that he doesnt want to be a King anymore. He seriously thinks about passing on the position and title, and fully focusing on Big Green as a new bastion of peace. Also about telling the truth about who he is to everyone.

Apetrully knows every hero's backstories (and secrets and past, even if in broad strokes)! And despite his seemingly air-headed and chatty nature, he guards all the knowledge others entrusted on him.

It just seemed like destiny when an 8 year old child strayed from the feeding group one day, too entertained by chasing a fat tabby cat that had jumped the wall to the garden

Whatever parent or guardian that came with seemingly hadn't noticed - not that they were alive long enough too

And, of course, Felix was the one to deliver the child to Master Aro considering he's the only one with a modium of decorum or respect for life in the castle

Any of the other guards would have eaten you on sight to be honest (they wouldn't in the future but you're just some random human child right now, they don't care about you yet)

Aro takes one look at you're little form, sticky fingers; muddy knees; grazed elbows; a leaf in your hair

1) none of them can fully keep track of you're emotions,why are children so confusing???

4) they're used to the traumatic stuff of vampire life, you are not, they don't realise that

Aro wants you to grow up appreciating everything he does, there are many 'daddy/daughter dates' where he takes you to see plays, musicals, concerts, or whatever that he deems suitable

Caius pretends to be impressed with your drawings and fakes excitement at whatever lego monstrosity you've made

Alec shows you the world, taking you around on his days off to Scotland, Brazil, India or wherever you randomly point to on a map

Felix let's you use his cloak as a blanket when he's not using it, you like to play with it and use it for dens and pillow forts (it can also be used as one of those massive fabric parachute tent bubble thingys the class played with in nursery/FS1/kindergarten and hid under (you know what I'm talking about))

Demitri let's you win at hide and seek despite his gift letting him know where you are at all times. He is also not above pretending to play to keep you out the way and quiet for a solid five minutes before you come out giggling saying you won again

Jane will capture butterflies and set them free with you because she knows you love them and you also love to chase them

The queen's are always dressing you up like a doll and doing your hair, they basically get a list from the secratery of everything humans need (food, water, socialising etc) and fulfil those needs for you

The secratery is the only one who actually knows what you want and need most times, being human herself. The kings are seriously considering turning her instead of just killing her you your sake

And God forbid anyone touches their precious baby, you've grown on them and they'd burn the world for you in an instant
