Love me like you sought me
but found yourself. if I’m the
trees, you’re the wind & I can’t
dance without you. sometimes I cry
for all the breaths you didn’t
get to take - when your heart is an
abandoned house, I will look for
you in every room - I’ve known
you in lifetimes we’re both too
young to have
lived

Words you've inspired as songs are desired in moments while looking at you. I've wrestled with demons inside of my head as melodies live and die on your lips and I'm singing your name.
Dance with me.
Dance with me.
Dance with me though these limbs may be old and my voice may break I'll sing all of your praises. Hold me tight while I call out your name, the dreams in the mists pull me closer tonight and I'm lost once again.
Sing to me
Bring to me
Love on me while I lead you on and play your name in my head. Twirl into the light while you give into a life that we've promised to live. Wonder as we wander into promises left to the right of your faith.
Lead me away, let the forests begin to swallow us whole. I'm beginning to give into all of your memories and whims you're my heart's desire. Stoke and burn this fire.

Just before 7 am on March 3, Danny Lemoi posted an update in his hugely popular pro-ivermectin Telegram group, Dirt Road Discussions: “HAPPY FRIDAY ALL YOU POISONOUS HORSE PASTE EATING SURVIVORS !!!”
Hours later, Lemoi was dead.
For the last decade, Lemoi had taken a daily dose of veterinary ivermectin, a dewormer designed to be used on large animals like horses and cows. In 2021, as ivermectin became a popular alternative COVID-19 treatment among anti-vaxxers, he launched what became one of the largest Telegram channels dedicated to promoting the use of it, including instructions on how to administer ivermectin to children.
But despite Lemoi’s death, the administrators of his channel are pushing his misinformation—even as his followers share their own worrying possible side effects from taking ivermectin and some question the safety of the drug.
Lemoi, a heavy equipment operator who lived in Foster, Rhode Island, “passed away unexpectedly” on March 3, according to an online obituary post by his family last week. He was survived by his parents and brother. The obituary gave no details about the cause of his death.
In the Telegram channel, administrators broke the news of his death to his followers. “Though it was obvious that Danny had the biggest heart, it was unbeknownst to him that his heart was quite literally overworking and overgrowing beyond its capacity, nearly doubled in size from what it should have been,” the admins wrote, adding: “We understand that this is going to raise questions for those who were following him.”
The admins added that Lemoi had undergone testing on his heart last year, but the results had shown no cause for concern.
Lemoi began taking the version of ivermectin designed for animals on a daily basis in 2012, after he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, according to a detailed account of his medical history he gave on a podcast last November. He said then that five months after first taking the drug, he quit all other treatments and believed ivermectin had “regenerated” his heart muscle.
During the pandemic, Ivermectin became hugely popular among anti-vaxxers, many of whom were taking and recommending the veterinary formulation of the drug, rather than the one designed for human use. While ivermectin for humans is used to treat serious illnesses like river blindness, it has repeatedly been shown to be an ineffective treatment for COVID-19.
And according to the Missouri Poison Center, ingesting large doses of ivermectin formulated for animals has a long list of side effects, including seizures, coma, lung issues, and heart problems. Veterinary ivermectin is not a cure or effective treatment for COVID, the FDA has repeatedly warned, and is highly concentrated because it is designed for large animals like horses and cows. “Such high doses can be highly toxic in humans,” the FDA cautions.
“Danny was fully convinced that his heart had regenerated after his incident with Lyme disease that almost ended in congestive heart failure,” the admins wrote, before claiming that “a family history of heart disease and chronic stress” were why his heart had ultimately become engorged. “All of his other organs were unremarkable,” the admins wrote. “And this was determined to be a death by unfortunate natural causes.”
The admins of Lemoi’s channel did not respond to VICE News’ questions about where they got their information about his death. Lemoi’s surviving family did not respond to VICE News' request for comment on the cause of his death.
But a review of Lemoi’s Telegram channels shows that many of his followers who are taking his dosage recommendations, or “protocols,” for veterinary ivermectin are experiencing numerous known side effects of taking the drug.
“I’m 4 months now and all hell’s breaking loose, all pain has hit my waist down with sciatic, shin splints, restless leg syndrome, tight sore calves & it feels like some pain in the bones,” a member wrote on Friday.
Lemoi explained away the negative side effects of taking veterinary ivermectin by describing them as “herxing,” a real term to describe an adverse response that occurs in people who take antibiotics as a treatment for Lyme disease.
“My wife has been taking ivermectin for 3 months,” a member wrote Friday. “She is being treated for autoimmune hepatitis, thyroid, and vertebrae issues. She has had some serious HERXING. Today she has a migraine, vomiting and severe stomach pain. Does anyone have any ideas how to help, and are these HERXING symptoms?”
Some members of the group are taking ivermectin not only as a treatment against COVID, but as a cure-all for almost every disease—from cancer and depression, to autism and ovarian cysts—believing that every disease is caused by a parasite that is removed from the body by ivermectin, just as animals are given the drug to treat parasitic worms like tapeworm.
Lemoi also formulated an ivermectin regimen for children, and numerous members of the group reported that they were using it. This week alone one member wrote that she had established another group for “parents of children on the spectrum, cerebral palsy, pans/panda, downs etc.,” who are using the Lemoi’s recommended children’s dosage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When some members of the group blamed Lemoi’s death on ivermectin, they were criticized in the Telegram channel; their fellow group members claimed they were spreading misinformation.
“No one can convince me that he died because of ivermectin,” one member wrote this week. “He ultimately died because of our failed western medicine which only cares about profits and not the cure.”
Despite Lemoi’s death, administrators said this week the Telegram channel would live on, and the group is attracting new members who continue to take ivermectin despite suffering serious side effects.
“I am very new to this... I’ve been on Bimectin paste for 20 days,” one new member wrote on Friday morning, explaining that he too was suffering from Lyme disease. “I have severe chest pain. Costochondritis symptoms. Air hunger, internal tremors, brain fog, headaches on the back of my head, anxiety, depression, doom and gloominess.”
Oh...just remembering all the MAGA freaks on here that were foaming at the mouth over ivermectin and wondering why @staff never gave us a "report medical misinformation" option...

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 8 | Chapter 9 | Chapter 10: Discussions
------
Titan’s study seemed to be darker than it had ever been before, the King’s mood leaking into the surrounding environment. Trench’s unease was well hidden on his face, but it was still there, and he exchanged a worried look with X20 as Titan sat in front of them with his eyes closed, chin on his clasped hands as he mulled over their failures of the day.
Finally, his eyes opened, and he regarded them both with a disappointed stare. “X20. You should be glad that you removed any and all information about the plan from Lemoy. That is your only saving grace. How could they have escaped, you idiot?” Titan hissed, expecting an answer.
“W-Well, I…” When X20 couldn’t answer, Titan regarded him with a cold look. His attention was on his once arch-enemy in a second.
“And you.” He began. Troy had to hide the shivers that went up his spine. “I gave you a chance to make things right. And yet, even after how she betrayed you when you needed her, you hesitated,” he mentally counted how many times his Captain failed to land the final strike, “five times.” Titan huffed. “That’s five times too many, Tempest.”
X20 blanched at the use of the Captain’s real name, looking over at the human, shame at having forgotten to take out that stupid key forgotten. He watched Troy with concealed sympathy. Troy frowned, but seemed to take it in his stride. “Sire, all I can do is apologise. I thought I was ready to face her in battle, and I wasn’t…”
Titan huffed after a while, standing up. “I understand the land-dwellers were once your friends, but they are now your enemies. I expect you to treat them as such.” He folded his arms behind his back as he circled the two of them. X20 was instantly reminded of a barracuda circling its prey. “If either of you fail me again, you will pay for it. Do you understand?”
“Yes, sire.”
“Yes, O Titan.”
“Good. Now get out of my sight…” Neither of them needed telling twice. They were out of there in a shot.
------
Atlanta placed her dinner next to where Phones and Fisher were sitting in the cafeteria with a sigh. It had been a week since the Battle of Pacifica, and they’d heard nothing from Titanica. Phones gave her a look as he chewed. He swallowed his mouthful, hoping to strike up a conversation with her. “Hey Atlanta.” He started.
“Hey.” She replied halfheartedly.
“How’s your day been so far?” Atlanta grimaced. “That frantic, huh?”
His friend let out a snort of amusement. “No, not like that. If anything it’s been the opposite.”
Fisher poked at his food. “Quiet, huh?”
“Too quiet…” Atlanta agreed, picking up her fork as Marina sat opposite the human trio. “Especially after what happened in Pacifica.” She sighed. “I don’t like how uneventful things have been.”
Fisher shrugged. “Well, they lost, which I doubt was the plan. Bet they weren’t banking on Marina being so hardcore.” The young Lieutenant gave the mermaid a grin, and she blushed a light green at the praise. “They’re gonna have to adjust for it.”
“I suppose…” Atlanta smiled softly in Fisher’s direction. He had a point. Marina’s hand signals caught her eye. “What’s up Mari?”
The mermaid made a series of gestures, asking for a time to talk to Commander Shore.
“Of course I can get Dad to talk to you. He’d never say no to you… But,” Atlanta raised an eyebrow, “what is this about?”
Marina made more hand signals. Phones eyes widened.
“It’s about your fight with Troy?” Marina nodded at the question. Phones hummed. “Okay. The Commander will wanna hear it, and so will we.”
------
The knock on the door was a surprise, his mask slipped on in a flash, even though he knew it could only really be one person. “Come in.” Sure enough, in stepped X20, carrying a brown paper bag in with him. “What brings you here, X20? Shouldn’t you be out gathering information in Marineville?” Troy took off the mask mid-sentence, eyebrow raised at his subordinate. If Titan ever found out the surface agent was here and not in the field-
“I returned here to report to his majesty about my mission’s progress in person. I’ve got a few marine hours before I’m due to leave Titanica.” X20 admitted in that nasally voice of his. Surprisingly, it didn’t annoy the former WASP as much as it used to. “Thought you might want some company while you’re working. I believe your kind call it ‘socialising’...” The surface agent frowned slightly, sceptical. Making friends had never been the Titanican way, so it didn’t come as naturally to X20 as it did Troy, but he was determined to make this work. He’d been so lonely even before serving Titan, and humans had always praised the benefits of calling someone a friend. Maybe, just maybe, he’d be able to experience that for once.
Troy hummed. “We do.” He looked at the overwhelming stack of reports he had to deal with. Having someone to talk to had always made work fly by for him. He missed that. He missed it a lot… “What harm could it do?” At his superior’s invitation, X20 sat down, pulling out a couple of items out of the bag. Troy’s eyes widened. “Where did you get these?”
X20 placed them in front of the Captain. “I heard they were your favourites back on the surface, before you joined us.” The soft drinks seemed to shine in the fading light of the office. Above the waves, X20 knew the sun was setting, signalling the end of the day. It wouldn’t be the end of it for King Titan’s right and left-hand men, however. “You must be pretty sick of seawater and algae by now. I’ve also heard getting gifts for someone is the best way to start a friendship, but I’m not sure what to do now…” The agent admitted.
Troy offered him a genuine smile, something he felt he hadn’t done in a long time. “Now…” Troy started, more than happy to give X20 some guidance here. “Now we talk about what we like, what we don’t like. We share funny stories from our past and what we want to do in the future. We-” He cut himself off as the images of Atlanta, and then Phones, flashed through his mind. Before X20 could say anything about his sudden silence, he pushed the thought of his former friend and girlfriend to the side. “We talk about fears and uncertainties. We get to really know the people we’re with, as if they’re our blood family.”
“I see.” X20 grinned in understanding. “So, where should we start?”
Troy rubbed his chin in thought. “Well, you already know what my favourite drink is,” he gestured to the cans on his desk, “so, what would you say your favourite is?”
In the end, they ended up talking for a couple of hours, only stopping when an aquaphibian interrupted them to find X20. Their time was up. It was time for the surface agent to return to his mission on the surface. Troy sighed when everyone was out of earshot, his thoughts drifting once more towards Atlanta. It had been surprisingly easy to talk to X20, but it had been even easier to talk to her.
Throughout years of building up their relationship, of sharing everything, they’d finally gotten to a point where Troy couldn’t have imagined a life without her. He’d even gotten a ring for her to offer her. To ask her to spend the rest of her life with him. But Titan had taken him in before he could ask, and his love for her was called into question. Did he even still love her anymore?
There was no way he’d give himself back to the WASPs. But was there a way to convince the woman he loved to join the Titanican cause? He shook his head almost as soon as the thought appeared. Atlanta’s feelings for him were strong, once upon a time, but her love for her father was most definitely stronger at the moment.
Defeated, he took one last look at the ocean out of the window, the vast waters beyond the city now completely black. He stood up, sliding his mask back on. He had a few checks to make before calling it a night.
------
Commander Shore was the first to speak. “Troy was hesitating?” The control room was silent upon Marina’s reveal. From the outside, it would’ve looked as if he just kept missing his mark, but the mermaid knew him too well than to believe that. “You’re certain?” Marina nodded, determined.
“I knew it…” Phones muttered. “I knew there’d be a way to get through to him!”
Fisher grinned. “Yeah, he’d never want to hurt us, no matter what side he’s on.”
“Hold on.” Shore held up his hands, signalling a time-out. “I already know what you’re thinking, and it’s out of the question.” Phones froze. “You’re not going to Titanica to try and convince Troy to come home.” Shore frowned, offering the Lieutenant a sympathetic look. “I’m sorry. But it’s too dangerous.”
“But Commander,” Fisher began, “this may be our best chance. If Troy’s having doubts, he’s more likely to listen to us.”
The Commander sighed. “I’m well aware. But the Titanican attack on Pacifica was costly, even if we did win. Too many crews are gravely wounded.” His previously sharp gaze drooped as his mind drifted to the officers who had lost their lives that day. His companions were similarly subdued. “Or worse…” He locked eyes with Phones, who looked back at him sadly. “We’re weakened while they’re recovering. Stingray will remain on standby until then. That’s-”
“Sir, please don’t say it.” Fisher cut him off hurriedly.
“That’s an order.” Everyone gave him a look. “Oh, don’t give me that.” He subtly rolled his eyes. He swore up and down he didn’t just have one child sometimes. “You all know I’m right. Now, you all better get to bed. It’s late.”
“Commander!” The frantic voice of one of the cadets floated through the doors. “News from Patrol Vessel Number 33!” Everyone looked at the young woman, curious. “They have captured a Titanican vessel just a few miles west of the beach. And they have a prisoner.”
Commander Shore raised an eyebrow. “I can tell there’s something particularly special about this prisoner…” He smirked when the cadet nodded. “Well, speak up soldier! Who’s the lone soul who’ll have to deal with WASP interrogation first thing tomorrow?”
“It’s Surface Agent X20, sir…”

A Rhode Island man who promoted ivermectin died from a common side effect to the veterinary medicine, sparking concerns from his followers about their own reactions to the drug.
Danny Lemoi, of Foster, had been taking a daily dose of veterinary-grade ivermectin since 2012, after he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and he said he quit all other medical treatments five years later because he believed the drug intended for large animals like cows and horses had "regenerated" his heart muscle, reported Vice News.
“Though it was obvious that Danny had the biggest heart, it was unbeknownst to him that his heart was quite literally overworking and overgrowing beyond its capacity, nearly doubled in size from what it should have been,” wrote the administrators on his Telegram channel. “We understand that this is going to raise questions for those who were following him.”

Time is a gunshot to the heart, a puzzle framed for cloudy skies that snooze on seasonal wishes. I hope your days are soft, your thoughts are kind to you, and your heart grows lighter with each new thing it holds. There will never be a day where I don’t want to hold every piece of you in my hands, feel you like a quiet morning rain, look at you like the brightest star. I get through my days a little easier just knowing that you exist.
Our story may not be perfect, but it’s ours, and that’s what I love about it.

The battle for Pacifica has begun...
Hi *waves in no update for eight months*
I have no words for how late this is honestly. Big life stuff happened, I went to ComicCon (which was a blast; I went as Marina and met some awesome new people >:3), exams came and went, and then I got hit by the combined forces of a whopper of writer's block and burnout from aforementioned exams.
I would say the update times will get better from here, but I'm heading into the last year of university and will get very busy from September. Fingers crossed though ^^
Anyway, on with the chapter! >:D
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 8 | Chapter 9: Battle of Pacifica
------
Phones examined the bars across the large windows carefully, humming worriedly as he did so. They were too narrow to squeeze between, so escaping that way was out of the question. The doors were locked and bolted from the outside. If they ever did get out, it wouldn’t be for a long time, and the Titanican attack on Pacifica may well be over. Phones groaned, jiggling the door handle in frustration in a last ditch hope it would come loose somehow. No luck…
He stole a glance over at Fisher, who was also looking for a way out. They caught each other’s eyes, and the younger aquanaut slumped his shoulders in defeat. It looked like they’d be here for quite some time.
------
“And you are certain they cannot escape?” X20’s screen showed his King and his immediate superior, standing side by side as the battle raged on behind them. From the looks of it, the Titanicans had their enemies on the run.
“Positive, Captain.” X20 confirmed. “I made sure of it. And even if they do get away, I removed anything from my personal files relevant to the plan…”
“I applaud you for your foresight… For once.” Titan hummed, muttering the last part under his breath. “Losing Lemoy as a base of operations is not ideal, but it is necessary.”
Trench nodded in agreement. “Well done, X20. Return to Titanica and await further instructions.” He looked back at the chaos behind him. “The battle is almost over from the looks of it, so your assistance will likely not be required.”
X20 saluted, and the video winked off. Titan turned to his second-in-command. “Return to the battlefield. I realise you might have…” the tyrant frowned, “hesitations about it, but the Princess is a force to be reckoned with. If we are to win, she must be taken care of.”
Trench couldn’t help the proud smile that spread across his face. Of course Marina was carving her path through the enemy. He’d seen her in action before. Pacificans were pacifists by nature, but the rivalry with Titanica had changed that, and their Princess had WASP training under her belt, in addition to the combat lessons Aphony had insisted she take after returning from her capture. She was a worthy opponent.
Of course he had doubts about fighting the mermaid. She had once been like a sister to him. But if his King were to get any further in his goal, it was necessary. “I will not fail, O’ Mighty One…”
“See that you don’t…” Titan turned his attention back to the window, overlooking the battle. The sea-green blur that was Princess Marina, cutting down Aquaphibian after Aquaphibian, taunted him. “You know better than anyone, I am not merciful to those who fail me.”
Trench saluted, turning on his heel, and headed into battle against his former allies.
------
“You got any paper and a pen?” Fisher asked, beyond bored. The aquanauts were sat at the small table, watching the sun set on the horizon. All they could really do was wait. The beauty of the sunset currently meant nothing. “I wanna write something…”
Phones gave him a look. “Really?”
Fisher shrugged. “Hey, it’s not like we have anything better to do.”
“Good point.” Phones stood up. “Well, to answer your question, yes, I have a pen,” he took the item out his pocket, placing it on the table in front of Fisher, “I don’t have any paper, but I might be able to grab a blank page from a book over there…” He pointed towards the small bookshelf, getting up and walking over to grab a book, when a thought crossed his mind. “Wait a minute…” Fisher looked at him quizzically as he bent down to look through the keyhole of the door. Phones smirked when he realised he couldn’t see through the small hole. The key was still in there! X20 must’ve forgotten to take it out. “Of course!”
The younger Lieutenant raised an eyebrow. “What’s going on?”
Phones hushed him, getting more and more excited by the minute. “Never mind that, just gimme that pen back.” Fisher gave Phones a look, but did so anyway. The older man knelt down, judging the space under the door. Good. It was just big enough for this to work…
Grabbing a larger book, Phones tore a page out, slipping it under the door so it would be under the outside keyhole. He left a small slither of paper so he could pull it back towards him. Fisher’s eyes widened when he realised what his friend was up to.
Phones took apart the pen, grabbing ahold of the ink cartridge inside, and gently threaded it through the keyhole. Soon enough, a thud was heard on the other side of the door as the key fell. Fisher gave him a hopeful look. “Think it fell where we want it to?”
“Guess we’ll find out soon enough.” Phones knelt down, and gently pulled the piece of paper towards the aquanauts. The silver gleam of the key was their reward. Phones picked it up with a flourish, exchanging a smirk with Fisher. Next stop, Pacifica.
------
Marina twirled through the water with grace as she exchanged blows with her friend turned enemy. When Trench had first appeared on the battlefield, he had muttered out an apology to Marina, heard only by her. The Princess had shuddered at the robotic voice. It was hard to forget the way she’d heard Troy’s dulcet tones behind it, now she knew it was him wearing the mask. Silently, she had given orders to the soldiers under her command, both Pacifican and WASP alike, to keep away from them as they fought. They’d obeyed, making a move to guard the throne room, where her father was anxiously awaiting the conclusion of the battle, and the return of his only child.
Blades clashed, Marina giving Trench a pleading look. If any part of him was still Tempest, it would at least stir something in him. She wished she knew what was going on his head. She wished she could see the emotions on his face.
On the other side of the watertight mask, Troy was struggling to keep the tears at bay. He hadn’t expected it to be so hard to face Marina in combat. Physically, they were almost evenly matched, with him just outclassing her, but there was something in the Princess’s pleading gaze that gave him pause everytime he went in for what should be the final strike. She was part of the reason why he’d left WASP, wasn’t she? So, why was it so hard to fight her?
“Stingray!” The panicked exclamation from one of the Aquaphibians caught everyone’s attention. Every faction involved looked up as the silver super-sub sped towards the greater WASP fleet. Marina and her people on the field grinned as it lead an attack on the Aquaphibian ships. Their enemy looked on in fear, knowing instantly that they would lose the battle. The Princess was certain she could Titan growl from wherever he was watching.
“Captain Trench.” The King’s cold voice caught his attention. “Issue a full retreat. We’ll never win with Stingray on their side. I’ll discuss both your and X20’s failures once we are safe behind Titanican walls…”
The human nodded, even though he knew his superior wouldn’t see it, and shivered. “Yes, sire.” Making a subtle gesture toward the closest Aquaphibian, the order quickly spread, and soon, the invaders were on the run. As they watched them leave, the Pacificans silently cheered, embracing each other in celebration. Marina smiled gently as her gaze swept along her people, never prouder to call herself a Pacifican. She was taken aback when she was pulled into a tight hug, although her grin widened when she realised who it was, holding her father just as tight.
On board Stingray, Phones and Fisher sadly watched as their once friend retreated with the enemy, even as the sounds of their colleagues on the comms and the sight of the Pacificans celebrating flooded their senses. Fisher cleared his throat. “I forgot to ask…” Phones turned to look his friend in the eye, grateful for the distraction. “How’d you know how to get the key?”
Phones smiled sadly at Fisher. “Troy taught me.” Phones sighed as he remembered that day. They’d been so excited to work on the same crew. Where had it all gone wrong? “It was on our first mission together.”
Fisher took note of the older man’s downcast face. “We’ll get him back, Phones.”
Phones sighed, turning Stingray’s nose back in the direction of Marineville. “I hope you’re right…”
