There’s a lot going on here that I’m still discovering in game. Like the fact that he might be able to take on draconic features despite being in his werewolf form. I have sketchbook pages full of this half-man, half-wolf, half crystal dragon creature.

So wandered around and took some glamor shots of this beauty.

My biggest take aways: Clouds are annoyingly difficult, making a glow effect with paint is fun, and rendering flesh rolls and wrinkles is very satisfying.

What if Cynder never turned undead?

The Artists of Skylands server put out a challenge on making element swapped characters, and I decided to chose to do Cynder for this challenge.

On the same server, someone mentioned a headcanon that Cynder was originally an Air element dragon before she became Undead by Malefor, so I thought to myself "what if I made a design for her if she never became undead?" I decided to make her a lightning dragon, since her powers do revolve around using lightning.

"Go on, what were you about to say, uncle?"

Zhang Qiulan (張秋嵐) is a lightning dragon-kin and the head of the noble Zhang family. After her father (previous head of the clan)'s death, the Zhang family squabbled heavily over who would be the next head. The previous head fathered only Qiulan and a illegitimate son who had no interest in the position. It is said that Qiulan's struggle to regain her birthright as the heiress was a bloody and harsh one, as her uncles and the other men of her clan doubted her skill to actually succeed her father.

She's the aunt of my other ice dragon-kin character, Mengxue! -- Her half-brother is the father of Mengxue, and Qiulan took Mengxue in after Mengxue's parents died. Although she is has a fierce and unyielding personality as the head of clan who used to uphold too many traditional ideas, she is very doting on her niece. Not having any children herself (and not planning to), she plans to instate Mengxue as the next head of the clan.

The character's in her name are Autumn (qiu 秋) and mountain mist (lan 嵐) -- so she has a very regal name of "autumn's mountain mist".

Here's her design without the dramatic lighting -- I wanted to make her a blue dragon as in the legend of the four beasts. In DND standards, the colour of the scales corresponds to the type of element the dragon is. White is ice like Mengxue and blue is lightning :D

i really really really like her eyes -- I tried to make them as draconic as possible. There's also a version with white pupils but I think the darker ones look more draconic so 😔

I am also very proud of the mountain mist symbol on her shirt IT TOOK ME FOREVER LMAO. She usually doesn't wear feminine hanfu and instead wears like those magistrate robes XD

Anyways TLDR her storyline is her effing up the misogynistic views of all the uncles LMAO we call this a #girlboss move
