Enha when their actress partner films with a hot actor
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jealous boyfriend enha! established relationship, actress reader, 1164 words, requested!!
Tumblr media
Heeseung
He pretends he's not phased at all
He knows you love him obviously, you spend like four hours a week crying and telling him how pretty he is and how much he means to you
But that was before he knew it was THE Song Kang
"Baby, he's literally the prettiest person ever!"
"You think he's prettier than me?" You pout
"Don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to"
Homeboy is SWEATING watching you guys film
Literally saying a hallelujah when there's no romance between your characters
But when you come back and tell him he was right that it was the prettiest person ever he gets mad about it
LIKE YOU SAID IT FIRST ???!
But he wants to be the only boy you think is pretty 😔
Won't let you escape his grasp for the next week
Jay
Listen he likes to act all confident, but deep down he is a little bit insecure about his looks
So when you tell him you're filming with one of the actors who made "worlds most beautiful" list
😐 he is not impressed
On the outside he's all "oh that's cool"
But on the inside he's screaming crying throwing up
Wears the outfits he knows make you weak the whole week leading up to it
I'm talking turtle necks, rolled sleeves, rings, all of it 😵‍💫
His masterplan is working, and you get so affectionate you don't even want to leave him to film
He lowkey feels so silly about being jealous when on a film break you bring your costar over and introduce him to "the love of my life Jay"
Jake
Literally SO POUTY
"Noooo, baby do you haveee to??"
Acts like it's the worst thing to ever happen
"What if you just quit your job as an actress?? I can take care of you!! I'll pay for everything!! You'll never have to work again!"
"Jake, I like my job"
"But I thought you LOVED me!"
Insists on going with you to set (also leaves a hickey on you that your makeup artist is very mad about 😭)
You have to ignore him the whole time you're filming because you know he's making those injured puppy dog eyes and you just can't handle it
He literally is hanging out with the actor during one of his breaks tho so ???
He's all "yeah bro you're awesome" so you think it's all good now
But then you go over to them and he gives you the most mind melting, earth shattering, blush inducing kiss ever right in front of your coworker
You will never recover
Sunghoon
Tells you he's more attractive than the other guy 🤪
You tell him because you want to be open and warn him
But he's all "okay and? He's not better than me, why should I be worried?"
You're like wow my boyfriend is so mature and cool
But you realize very quickly that he is, indeed, worried
"Hey y/n, be honest. Do you prefer blondes or brunettes?"
"Hey y/n, do you think idols or actors would make better husbands?"
"Hey y/n, do you think onscreen chemistry ever transfers off screen?"
"I prefer whatever color is currently on your head, you over anyone of any profession, and I wouldn't know because I don't need to worry about that seeing as how I'm in a very happy relationship."
He grumbles at your answers, mad you caught on
He's not one for pda but he does bring you a bouquet and your favorite drink to the film sight <3
Sunoo
The guy was one of his favorite actors!!
He was so so excited for you to work with him, until he found out he was your love interest 😐
"YOURE GONNA KISS ANOTHER MAN?!?"
"Sun, he's married." 😒
"YEAH UNTIL HE FALLS IN LOVE WITH YOU AND GETS A DIVORCE!"
He boycotts the actors other shows 😭 whenever you guys hang out and watch dramas together he'll turn it off if the guy comes on screen
Eventually gives up on drama nights and makes you watch a bunch of enhypen performance videos instead
"Wahhh he's so handsome! Even more handsome then that actor, don't you think?"
"Yes Sun, you're way more handsome."
He's fishing for compliments but you don't care, willing to give him all the reassurances you have
You think he's gotten over it by the time filming comes up
But lo and behold... he's sent you an entire coffee truck with pictures of the two of you and messages about your relationship 😭
Jungwon
He wants SO BADLY to be okay with it 🥹
He was so supportive, celebrating with you when you first got the role and now coming to every filming that you have
Except he's noticed the slowly developing love story between you and the hottest guy on the show
So when you get the script for episode ten and read it to him he knows it's coming
"Oh, so you're like... gonna kiss someone else?"
You literally want to burst into tears, he's so precious and he looks like a little sad cat and just- 😭😭😭
"Yeah, but we've both been very open that we have partners! His girlfriend is on set all the time too! And you can totally be there when we film it!"
He shudders, "I'm not sure I want to"
But he goes anyway, and you introduce him to your costars partner
So now they're standing together, making small talk and looking away every time they say action
"I'm gonna need a drink," she mumbled after her boyfriend has to get his makeup fixed because of your lipstick on him
"Yeah, me too"
Riki
Listen, he is your number one fan
He’s seen every episode and won’t let you read him the script because he wants to find out with everyone else
He checks Twitter about it all the time too
So when soompi reports that there’s a new, very attractive guy on set— he sees it immediately
“Hey ynie~ can I come to filming with you?”
You’re so suprised, because he never wants to come with you
“Really? You’re not freaking out about it being spoiled for you?”
“I just want to be with you 🤷🏻‍♀️” he says it so nonchalantly like you’re not literally turning into mush because of it
“Okay!”
So fast forward, your hair and makeup is done, costume on, and you’re finally getting ready to film
You’re on set while the scene before you is shooting, and your boyfriend lets out a gasp
“Who is that shirtless man over there?”
You look over and shrug, explaining the new character
“Why is he shirtless??” Man is so fixated on this
“He’s always like that.”
“WHAT?”
There’s been a shirtless actor walking around you all days of the week and you hadn’t said anything
Steps up the pda immediately, holding your hand during off times and loudly cheering for you during shooting
By the end EVERYONE knew you were dating

With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA on strike, I want to take this moment to talk about one really important thing that I've alluded to but haven't gone into depth on, and people don't like to hear because of a lot of the noise, but-
We need to also support VFX unionization efforts (everyone's with me so far right...?), and in doing so, acknowledge the labor actually involved in using new technology (not just AI, but whatever the NEXT big breakthrough is too, and the one after that, and the one after that, indefinitely) and credit the people operating it properly-
Aaaand I've lost some people, but hear me out.
Sure, it's easy to type a single prompt and get a result that looks kinda nice. "Kinda nice", however, isn't going to cut it for most productions! It's like photography that way. As ubiquitous as good-quality cell phone cameras are, anyone can just point and click with some very basic understanding of what makes a passable composition and get something that's pleasant on the eyes.
And yet, generally speaking, people aren't grabbing random people with cell phones off the street to shoot movie posters! Because even a layperson can tell the difference between the photo you get when you stop a random stranger on the street and ask them to take a photo of you and your friends together, and the photo you get when a trained professional sets up the actors in a studio, with deliberate lighting, a thorough understanding of what lens(es) to use, and so much more.
Photography is easy. To be able to get a professional quality result? Not so much. Sure, sometimes a total rando who barely knows how to use a camera will luck out and get the shot of a lifetime - but it sure doesn't happen often and you DEFINITELY can't make a whole profession out of hoping for it.
The same goes for AI.
Most singular AI pieces that are high enough quality to get people really excited take hours, and hours, and hours of work and refinement and retrying and tweaking to get right. I mean, go test out a free image generator and pay attention - you might get a lot of results that look fun just by typing in a very silly prompt, but good enough to be a major part of a movie without any alteration? ....maybe one in a million - and then you still probably have to upscale it! And the standard for "nice to look at for a moment" vs. "good enough to be a major part of a professional production" will only get stricter and stricter as things get more saturated and people see Default Midjourney Style or the like as being super boring and amateurish for anything bigger than a literal one-man production, too (which sucks on a tiny level for me personally because I like Default Midjourney Style, but that's not important).
I point this out because bringing this up in the context of unionization helps to kill the entire motivation behind using AI to undercut manual art. The higher-ups want the world to think it's just mindless, super-easy button-pushing that anyone can do, so it's fine to crunch people even HARDER than they already crunch VFX artists or outsource it to people they can pay subminimum wages, right?
It's not. It never is. It never will be. We need to cut it off at the pass before one more studio even fucking tries it.

Tumblr media
MAD RESPECT
He has ALOT of respect for you in general but this? it just tenfolded bro
Tries to come to all your competitions!! and vise versa, unless your competition times overlap :'D
Comes to your practices too <3
Always makes sure to bring snacks and drinks for you
Keeps track of your diet if you have one, but ALWAYS makes sure that you arent pushing yourself too much
Coming to his games with your team/friends to cheer!
He would be SOOOOOOOOO flustered but cmon, he looks ADORABLE when he is <3333
Tumblr media
VERY SUPPORTIVE AND GOOFY!!!
He stops by your practice and tries to do your routine, it ends up in a mess and your coach is scolding you both LMAO
But he only had good intentions!
He wanted to take your mind off things like the competition since he knows it makes you nervous, and nervous you is well- not the best you 😭😭
again, he BRAGS to anyone and EVERYONE. about you and how youre so cool doing all those tricks and things ykyk!!
He probably drags isagi to watch your competitions tbh
When you come to watch his matches and cheer, he has the BIGGEST smile ever!! 🥹🥹
Its basically like shoving 5kg of sugar into his mouth, hes so energetic and motivated now <3
Tumblr media
guys theres literally a reason why i didnt add him on the artist hcs and its bcs i genuinely think that he wont give a fuck 🧍
Like, you do cheerleading? okay cool👍
But for the sake of this hc then imma put all my brain juice into this one
Might come to your practices whenever he has spare time/he remembers and gives you either those nice energy drinks or some suspicious green fruit-vegetable shake 💀💀
But thats pretty rare
most of the time, you two meet up and do yoga/cool down together, maybe get icecream after bcs SCREW YOUR DIETS FOR ONCE ‼️‼️
If you come to his matches to cheer, then he would mostly be surprised because from the manga and light novel, no one really watched his matches
So he feels warmth blooming in his chest and subconciously works harder to score a goal
Tumblr media
Its hard to find out which one of you two is the cheerleader tbh
deadass cheers MORE than you when it comes to your competitions no SHIT
also, your outift fees? covered. transportation fees? no need, get on his limousine. Props being too expensive? Honey no, 'Expensive' doesnt exist anymore remember?
He basically covers for everything you spend 🧍🧍
Im gonna bet on everything that you have this room in the mikage corp thats specifically for your private practices, like the one reo used to practice soccer
Pays his teammates to go with him to cheer you on your competitions 😭😭😭😭
Come to his matches to cheer and this guy will MELT
his teammates tease him for giving you the googly eyes LMAOOO
Tumblr media
Unlike rin, this guy actually cares
kinda
well, more than rin, thats for sure <3
He's a busy guy so he mostly watches you on his phone
speaking of that, he has this album on his gallery thats just pics and vids and clips of you 😭
AND LET ME TELL YOU
IT TAKES UP LIKE 24GB OF HIS STORAGE 💀💀💀💀
Hes dedicated so atleast theres that 🤷😭
When you come to his matches, he might not see you at first bcs theres literally tens of thousands of people but when he does?
He performs a small gesture with his arm/s from a small routine you both came up with <33
Tumblr media
(599 words)
im sorry dis is short, i literally dont know wat else to write 😭😭😭

Semicolon tattoo and third years
Because I accidentally did trey and Cater as second years lol
First years and summary
Also spoilers for chapter 6 and 7 with Idia and Malleus-
Cater: he likes takeing pictures that show off your tattoo. He think it is lovely and helps bring our your beauty. He sees that what he does means alot to you. But he dosent ask about it, he dosent dig, he just is there by your side
Trey: while the two of you were talking and bakeing, your tattoo came up. So, you shared it, being able to do whatever while talking. Trey listened and said that he was glad you're still here. If you ever needed help you could allways come to the doorm and ask, they would allways havw your back here.
Leona: literally, no fucks. He just, dosent care. If you do open up about your tattoo and it's meaning, he may verbally brush you off but, he gets literally all of Savanaclaw to be nicer to you and help you out if you seem to need it or ask for it. He also just, pays off Crowly for your rent and gets ruggie to go grocery shopping with you. Due to him being Royalty, he may not be allowed to get a tattoo unless it's in his cultural style. But also being the younger overlooked child, it probably dosent matter as much. But I don't think he would unless something happens to motivate him to actually start trying. Then he would get one in his cultural style.
Rook: he conciders it beautiful and helps being out your natural beauty. I think this man would adore those with tattoos that excentriate their natural features and not bury them too much. He would also put together the meaning behind it quite quickly aswell. He won't do anythjng about it unless he sees that you need it. He'll lend an ear if you wish to tell him your story and your problems. He is there to help
Vil: Modeling isn't exactly friendly to those who come in with tattoos, but if you're already apart of the industry and the tattoo has some sort of meaning, it's more accepted. One day while liveing with you, he does decide to ask about it, so, you share you story, he is genuinely shocked by it. But it's a bit of a grounding moment for him that, struggling like you are, and liveing like this, and he sees how exaughsted you are, how it's hard for you to care for yourself. He sees that, this is a common thing, for others out there too. Everyone has something that they struggle with. If only if he asked sooner. He still overblots, but after it, he directly apologized to you, knowing he just added more on your plate again. I think he would get a black and purple apple semicolon tattoo, as to not let everything bottle up so much that it poisons his work and those around him again. It keeps him grounded and reminds him of whats important and what he learned from while attending NRC
Iida: he has probably tought of getting some tattoos tbh, of differnt series that he adores and what makes him happy. Of course, he would probably work with a tattoo artist to make a tattoo gun that is painless and quickens the healing time. I think, after everything, he would text you and ask about your tattoo, and that it's just a simple semicolon it must mean something, right? So you awnser him and tell him the story and the meaning. He appreciates you shareing that with him. He also tells you how you can enter his room and will text you the code daily if you need someone to just kinda chill with and do whatever. He gets a blue fire one with yellow in the middle as a memorial to thr late ortho and the birth of the new one.
Lilia: I think he would've gotten one when he was younger, when drunk, on a dare by someone else he worked with. So he knows a bit about them, he probably put together the meaning of yours, so pushes Malleus and the boys to hangout with you and let's them know it's ok to ask about anything they wish to. He dosent need to know you story, he knows what you all need are friends. He'll also pop on whenever to just be a dad and check in
Malleus: I think he would be one of the first people you tell. He asks about it, wanting to get to know you better (and with Lilias support) so, you tell him your story. This worry him, he asks, if you even want to go back to a world that, let's that happen to you, if you stayed here, there are people who can help. You may either ponder on it, or just say, even tough I've struggled, I have those I love who are at home waiting for me... its when Malleus first develops some visable blot in ages. It goes away after a few days, but it worries those around him. When he overblots, he tries to make you a dream where you can be here and there, where you can be happy, and don't have to suffer. But... you leave. After the incident, you comfort him and show that everything needs time to heal, some wounds of yours are healed, others aren't. But time will heal them, along with being open and shareing with those you care about, like what you did when you told him. I think, malleus understands this. He decides on getting a matching one to you (even if you tell him not to) haveing his own version of it that is similar to yours but tailored to him, make him happy. He would also get one for Lilia, Silver, and Sebek. He'll do it for any friend that passes, and every time he gets a new retainer. It's to keep the ones he loves close to his heart, even if they aren't with him anymore. He will love them in spirit.

Wandersong (Wandersong)
In a game all about music, this is a song about defying fate. This is bringing the voices of the world together, regardless of how different they are. This is a last gasp of a dying world, showing that it still has more to give. (It's also a huge spoiler, so uh... play Wandersong, folks! You won't regret it!)"
Against the Kitchen Floor (Will Wood)
And I swear! I will die trying!/I'm still in the process, but I'm making progress; I promise I honestly wanna prove improvement's possible, I swear!/I'm so fucking sorry! I'm not a good person, I'm barely a person at all, But someday I'll be perfect, and I'll make up for it all!
Less rare than scarce, less diamond then rough/Unlikely to be more than just the coal you failed to crush
I'm catatonic in your arms, crying, "How did I cause so much harm?"/I'm down pounding my head against the kitchen floor/Apologizing for my life and ever entering yours
The vertex of my redemption arc/I’m searching on that virgin heart
"The raw emotion! And I strongly relate to desperately wanting to improve for someone you love. I belt out this song when I feel really hopeless"
"my one OC. also me. also it's just a really good song. one of will's best imo. screaminbg"
"Literally hits almost all of my self-esteem issues. Feeling like people only care about you for your body? Check. Not understanding why anyone would want you? Check. Thinking that all you do is hurt people? Check. I don't cry very often but this song DEFINITELY made me teary"
"one of those if u aren’t paying attention to the lyrics ur like this is nice but once u hear them its an OW holy OW and guilt and I’m sorry feelings"
"Just. Loving someone but not feeling like you’re good enough and trying to improve."
"Not only does this song have lyrics that are deeply relatable to me, but this song also feels very deeply personal to the artist and I feel that anyone who listens to it for the first time has that same feeling of getting punched in the gut. Just the lyrics and the melody and Will Wood’s incredible vocals make this song an absolute masterpiece and I cry every time I hear it."
"One reason I'm attached to this song is because my friend sent it to me and said "I'm kin assigning you this song" and ruined my life (/j) It messed me up because I've always had a hard time in my life figuring myself out and dealing with my emotions, and for what feels like the first time, this song has been able to near perfectly describe how I feel about myself and my impact on other people, and it always just meant so much to me that my friend who sent it to me knows me better than I know myself and shared the song with me and I love them dearly."

Sorry if this is a bit specific but do you think you could write something for Trent where you’re both dating and you’re an England footballer’s sister, and then they interview your brother and Trent together whilst you’re in the room and bring you up and it’s quite fluffy (that probably made no sense) 💕💕
Blush
DISCLAIMER: Apologies this took so long even though it's so short, poorly written and I hate it! but the request was so cute!

Tumblr media
'What time are you guys filming that video?' You asked, watching your boyfriend and brother playing a game of Fifa, after they promised you it was their last round 3 rounds ago..
You were currently at St. George's park with them for the day, with a bunch of other players' family being present too for an event, but right now you were frustrated they weren't showing you any attention, locking you in the gaming room with them to watch.
'Helloo?' You called, playfully kicking them in the back.
'Soz babe, we're supposed to be doing it now I think.' Replied Trent, now feeling defeated as Jadon had just won.
'You're a cheat you.' He complained, as you began to laugh watching Jadon rub it in his face.
'I'm just too good, tell him Y/n.' Said Jadon, nudging you.
'Don't get ahead of yourself mate, remember I beat you every time.' You joked, provoking laughter from Trent who began to tease him.
You'd been with Trent just over a year now, having been introduced accidentally by your little brother Jadon. You couldn't say he was the happiest to find out you were together, with it definitely taking some time for him to get used to, eventually paying off as him and Trent were now the closest they'd ever been, making you almost jealous as your brother had stolen your boyfriend off of you.
The social media memes and jokes didn't help either, especially since you were a huge Liverpool fan, finding it awkward when United would play them, cheering both of them on but hoping for one winner, your boyfriend and your team.
'Shit we need to go.' Reminded Jadon, as you all left the room for them to be filmed.
They were filming a segment of 'Roommates' where they'd answer questions about each other, leaving you sat in the corner to enjoy the whole thing, fighting back your giggles when the two of them would overreact on getting a question wrong.
'Who is Trent's favourite artist, A: Kanye B: Drake C: Adele..' Read your brother, and you wished you could answer it for him because it was so obvious.
'Hmm, I can imagine him listening to all 3, but I'm gonna say Kanye.' Answered Jadon, as it was time for Trent to react.
'It's Adele man!' Explained Trent, Jadon in disbelief.
'Is that true? Are you heartbroken bro?' Pushed Jadon, making everyone in the room laugh.
'I won't stand for any Adele slander, and I literally went to her concert last month, sent you pics.' He tutted.
'Oh yeah, when you and Y/n went together?' Asked Jadon, receiving confirmation.
'You introduced Y/n and Trent didn't you Sanch?' Asked a player, walking by and eavesdropping on the interview, making you a bit uncomfy as you were unsure what the two would say, with both you and Trent having your relationship very private from the start.
'Shall I just tell the story then?' Asked Jadon, with the crew and other players cheering him on to do it, making you roll your eyes as you knew your brother loved being a story-teller, you and your boyfriend sat still listening, and you couldn't help but admire how shy he got.
'Well, we were playing Liverpool, and I was having a talk with Trentski after the match...'
'Then Y/n comes over to talk to me, and completely blows me off for Trent.' Explains your brother, making Trent burst out laughing.
'No it did not happen like that!' You playfully interjected, your face not in the video and only your voice.
'Let me finish! So she completely ignores me and starts telling Trent about how amazing his performance was... then 2 months later they're a thing.' Added Jadon.
'You did it to yourself man.' Smirked Trent, as the conversation went on a little longer. He looked over to see you smiling, with you still a bit unsure about this being posted on the England YouTube channel, hoping it'd be edited out. He gave you a little nod and thumbs up, as a way to tell you it's fine, and reassured you it wouldn't be a big deal, before you left them to finish the shooting, wandering over to the snacks table.
'Hey baby.' You heard a voice say, realising it was Trent wrapping his arms around you, as you were more focused on which cupcake to pick.
'You all done?' You asked, caressing his arm, the two of you weren't fans of PDA but you had missed your boyfriend today, not really caring at the moment.
'Yep, you ready to leave?'
'Yes please, where's Jadon?' You asked, aware you were his ride home too.
'Ah here he comes.' Said Trent, both of you watching him toddle over to you guys.
'We gonna get going then?' Questioned your brother, and you got your car keys ready for the lengthy journey back to Manchester.
Both of them were now sat in the car with you, with Trent in the passenger seat too tired to drive, and Sanch in the back already passed out from exhaustion, even though all they did was play Fifa the whole day.
'He looks just like you y'know.' Observed Trent, turning his back to see Jadon with his mouth wide open snoring away.
'Oi, watch it!' You joked, playfully slapping his arm.
'What? Not a bad thing he's a beautiful guy.' Said Trent.
'Starting to think you fancy him more than me now.' You bantered, making Trent put his hand on your thigh.
'Nah not yet, but I have to say I do love that kid a lot, without him I wouldn't have known you.' He said, making you blush.
------
A week went by, the video was finally out, and you and Trent made sure to watch it immediately.
Most parts were cut out, making the video way shorter than the hour it actually took to film it, but of course, the part about your relationship was kept in, and you dreaded opening the comments to see people's opinions.
'Sancho is the real wingman.' Said one person.
'They've got the best bromance.' Said another.
'Wish my mate would set me up with his sister.' You repeated, reading one of the comments that the two of you found hilarious. Most of the comments were extremely supportive, all of them finding it adorable that Jadon was the reason for your relationship, being in awe of you both.
'This one's me favourite, "gonna be awkward when they break up" but we're not gonna break-up babe.' Said Trent.
'I'd hope not, I think Jadon would be the most heartbroken.' You explained, shutting your laptop as you'd read almost all of the comments.
'Oh he would would he?' Trent said, teasing you.
'Yes, yes he would, because he loves you like a brother.' You told him, seeing Trent's face light up.
'That's sweet that, he doesn't have to worry though because luckily I love his sister even more.' He revealed, puckering his lips like a child for you to kiss, making you giggle like a fool.
The video soon blew up, with it gaining tons of new likes, views and comments, a majority still positive but the minority not being able to stand the three of you, only providing entertainment for your lazy night in as you re-read their negative comments and laughed, no one knowing how strong your relationship was but you guys.

okay. this fucking picture made me so mad i went on a 15 minute rant to my sister while she was trying to read her book.
so ive been looking at a lot of pictures of posts on pinterest because thats just where i spend most of my time. most of these posts are on the topic of adhd. ive never been properly diagnosed, but reading through these posts has made me feel so welcomed and understood (more than my parents have made me feel, pretending that this is "all just a phase that ill get over soon because pretending to have adhd is just the thing right now") that i realized ON MY OWN that "hey maybe i do have adhd." well.
Tumblr media
i found this post while scrolling through pinterest, and it really sparked my anger.
i have a friend who was diagnosed with add before it was considered an "outdated" term and scrapped because apparently ALL FUCKING FORMS OF NEURODIVERGENCY THAT ARENT AUTISM ARE JUST "ADHD".
i read this post and it was what sparked my anger and my 15 minute rant to my sister. people who get degrees in this stuff, or counselors at schools, never really know what youre going through. all they know is that youre having some problems and they need to be solved.
Tumblr media
which brings me back to this picture. if you look up "is add still a thing" on google, this is the first picture to pop up. and just seeing the visual aids they put with it makes me furious enough to throw something or someone out a fifth story window. the little girl is fucking SMILING while thinking about the most common shit people think us neurodivergent folks think when distracted. first off, no. false. we dont just think of video games and candy. we think of the randomest shit possible, like how long can i sit here without blinking or what kind of funny shit can i draw on this one sheet of paper.
and ALSO.
you cant just categorize adhd as TWO SEPARATE THINGS and call it good. we dont fit under two umbrellas. theres too many of us. we each have our own figurative umbrellas that only we ourselves can fit under, no one else. thats the problem with neurotypicals. they fit the typical stereotype for humans: we try to understand everything by putting it in a box. those lists of "symptoms"? i match every single one. on both sides. so ha. take that SCIENTISTS. what am i? some kind of freak of nature because i dont fit under just ONE of your precious categories?
i also looked up what "inattentive" means and it made me angrier. according to oxford languages, "inattentive" means "not paying attention to something", which doesnt seem too bad, right? it fits some people perfectly with their symptoms, right? but its not the definition that bugs me. its the example sentence thats used. "a particularly dull and inattentive student". basically saying that if you dont pay attention well to something, youre dull and boring.
im sorry, what? sometimes i have trouble paying attention, sure, but you ask any of my friends and they can agree i am NOT boring in any way, shape, or form. non of them would describe me as "dull". inattentive? sure, but not dull. so to call it "inattentive" adhd, instead of just add, is stupid! my friend with ADD (not fucking adhd, stupid scientists) is one of the funniest, most entertaining people ive ever met. shes an incredible artist, super smart, and knows how to make anyone laugh. does that sound dull to you? does she have problems focusing sometimes? yes. does she struggle with doing something sometimes? yes. but dont the rest of us?
my point is, when i see things like this, it pisses me off. like, unless all of the scientists who agreed "add" is an outdated term have it themselves, i refuse to believe its outdated and i will continue to say that my friend has it. she was literally diagnosed by the doctor telling her "you have attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder without the hyperactivity." THATS JUST FUCKING ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER YOU DUMBASS!!!
anyway, i hope im not the only one who feels this way. i just felt it necessary to get this out there. maybe someday, people wont be so dumb and single minded. in my opinion, neurodivergent people are superior in intellect and creativity, but i guess until someone like that takes over the world and dropkicks neurotypicals into the stratosphere, we'll never know.

I just got a submission for a kid’s book by a self published author for work (children’s librarian) and instead of being mean I’m just going to give some advice to aspiring children’s authors.
1. Please read some picture books. Many people write books for kids cause they think it’s easy. It’s not. They never get the voice. They think they can tell a bland story and bludgeon the audience with morals but that’s not compelling. Just because your book has pictures does not mean a 3 year old will want to sit through 10 sentence paragraphs every page. Go look at Eric Carle, Janell Cannon, Matthew Cherry, James Dean, etc. See how they do it. Kids can tell, man.
2. Do not get mad when you try to bring your book to your local library and they don’t want to add it to the collection. Libraries have collections policies you should be aware of before trying to pawn off your work. Some libraries have dedicated local author sections. Others don’t accept any self published material because they receive literally hundreds of submissions a month. Shelf space is limited. Time to review and order material is limited.
2a. Do not submit AI generated spam. Goes without saying.
3. PAY AN ARTIST! Seriously, I’ve gotten books that look like someone took the clip art from Canva and threw them together into a book. Sometimes it is actual clip art. Sometimes, this is by very serious artists who are probably not being paid much if anything to do the work and sometimes it’s by the author themselves. The art is the biggest selling point of a picture book. Do not skimp because you think your story/message is SOOO powerful it can overcome looking dull and like it was made with the cast of bitmojis.
4. Do not put fake awards on the cover. It just makes the book look faker than it already is.
5. Hire an editor. Your friends, partners, family, etc are fine to bounce ideas off of but if you’re serious, hire someone to read your book and make pointed critiques. You need critiques and feedback.

I received this message last night, but as I blocked the anon who sent it, I don't have the original ask. I didn't think that I was going to respond at all, but there are some lingering thoughts about it that I'd like to speak to.
I'm appalled by the assumption that I don't leave feedback on Ao3 or Wattpad. Of course I do. I leave comments on fics on every platform I consume them on. I am also imperfect - I don't have the time or energy to leave an effusive comment on every fic - but I leave a one sentence comment. I leave kudos. I let them know that I enjoyed.
I do consume free content on other sites without engaging with it. The difference is that on Youtube or TikTok, the content I'm consuming is compensated. My viewing of it feeds an algorithm that then promotes it to other users. My viewing of it allows the creators to become members of their respective platforms' creator fund. My viewing of it enables these creators to get sponsorship deals that can then literally pay for things. When I consume free content on other sites without interacting the creator is getting paid. Their labor is being compensated.
It is illegal to monetize fanfiction. To attempt to make money off of it would bring about lawsuits from the corporations that own the characters and universes we write about. It would destroy sites where fanfiction is hosted, as it has in the past. We attempt sometimes to get something in little ways, like a patreon or a ko-fi, but these operate as systems of donation because any other method of payment is illegal. (You can go to the ko-fi link in my bio and see that nobody has donated to it. I'm not asking anyone to.) So you see, my content isn't like other free content you access on the internet. The only way I get anything out of my work is through interaction.
Of course I write for myself. But do not be so naive as to believe that I post it on the internet for my own validation. I could very well write my pieces and keep them to myself, or only share them in a discord server of friends who I know will appreciate it. I post them online to share them with a wider fan community who also love the characters. I post them online to get feedback. Yes, I am deliberately baiting reactions. I am creating art; its purpose is to make people feel things, and I'd like to know if it's effective. I am no more entitled to feedback than you are to an endless stream of free content that you, admittedly, have the option of not engaging with. But to assert that I am somehow being greedy or obtuse speaks to your lack of understanding of how this works. Or perhaps it is indicative of your callous disregard for the art that you so readily consume.
Imagine a painter friend of yours shows you their new work that they are excited about. They present it to you, all excited and hopeful. You stare at the painting impassively. You don't smile, you don't react.
Your painter friend's face falls. "Do you like it?" they ask.
"You showed it to me for free," you reply. "I don't owe you anything."
No, reading my work is not a debt to be paid in forced reaction. I did not say that I was owed feedback, nor did I "demand" it. It is absurd to assume that this was my intention. It is equally absurd to act as though fan creators are benevolent art martyrs who should expect nothing in return for their work but the supposed satisfaction of a job well done. It is absurd to think that readers play no role, that this is not a symbiotic relationship between artist and art consumer.
If you do not want to accept responsibility in this relationship, that is your choice. You are right in that regard; I can not control your behavior. But do not expect me to continue on as though nothing is amiss. Do not act as though I should be grateful for every little scrap I am given and never speak up for myself. And do not tell me that I have no right to my feelings ever, but specifically in regards to the diminishing returns of the labor I am doing.
We are not here to die on the swords of your indifference in perpetuity. Press the fucking reblog button.

Can you explain how AI is different from human artists learning from other artists? Or why AI isn't okay but fanart is?
While these are super loaded questions, I will answer this as if you are asking in good faith.
Don't make me regret this.
So, these are two different questions with two different sets of answers. I will answer the second question first, because that is easy and very solidly anchored in the copyright law already:
Fanart, legally, is not okay. Literally, fanart is copyright infringement.
The reason why it is generally considered alright is two-fold:
One because the people making the fanart (so the ones taking the copyrighted characters and transforming them) mostly don't do it commercially and if they do, it usually is on such a small scale and in a way that there is no way that they would compete with the original copyright holder (all of these are points which are codified in the law under Fair Use).
And that brings us to two: While the copyright holder could STILL demand take downs they usually don't (even if it is their legal right) because most companies realise that fanart is free advertisement.
And there is the big crux of the matter: Artists ARE making use of their right as the copyright holders to demand that their copyrighted material is not used for a commercial product (because that is what most image generators are!) which directly competes with them.
Now, to answer your first question:
Even specialists in the field of machine learning will concede that, no, computers do NOT learn like humans. And everyone who says so is either grossly oversimplifying things or actively, maliciously misrepresenting the issue.
Ignoring the fact that the machine does not learn my itself, but that it needs humans to do the learning and classification for it, humans always interpret, while a machine can only ever make copies.
It's the difference between drawing yourself and making a photo collage with random snippets and pasting it roughly where it makes sense.
There is no interpretation, no INTENT behind any machine creation and the results are only given meaning by whoever looks at it. It's finding shapes in clouds.
Here, too, scale is a factor: I, as an artist who studies photos and other artists' works, can only do so at a certain pace. I'm fast, but not billions of images taken in and put out fast. There is no way a single artist, or even a small group of artists, will ever be able to study so many pieces and be able to put out so much work that it puts EVERY OTHER ARTIST out of work.
And that is the issue. It is a borderline monopoly issue that is based in a massive case of billions of copyright infringements.
When we say "theft" we don't mean LITERAL theft. The theft we're talking here is the same as wage theft.
Does an employer actively go in and steal the money out of their employee's pocket? No. But they are taking their labour without the intent of paying them for it.
That is the exact same form of theft artists are facing here.
Against our will, our works are used for a, and I repeat, COMMERCIAL PRODUCT that makes millions and billions of dollars and actively puts entire creative industries out of business.
If you don't see a problem with that, I don't know how to help you.
Image generators SOLELY benefit the already rich. It is monopolising art as a career into the hands of very few.
On the backs of our labour.
That's the difference.
That's the issue.
And we have asked nicely for our work not to be used. We have begged and pleaded with the companies. We have tried to explain the issue and they do not care. Even those companies who allow opt out make it nearly impossible to do so, putting even more strain on those people they have harmed.
The law is working too slowly, slow enough that by the time we have regulations the field of creative work might have forever changed for the worse.
And there really is no "just git gud" argument here, as many are implying. Because companies and the billionaires that run them really don't care about quality as long as they can get it cheap and fast. And no artist who wants to survive can put out enough art to compete with Image Gens. It doesn't matter that the generated pictures have mistakes or plain make no sense. If it's cheaper than a human, they will use it.

I'm blocking anyone who reblogs this post on sight:
Tumblr media
Post by othersidedisc which reads "ai is making it so everyone can make art" everyone can make art dipshit it came free with your fucking humanity
Oh, so disabled people who can't make art are not human?
And every time people bring up disabled people who legitimately can't make art it's all "there are assistive devices. Here's an inspiration porn story of a paralyzed man who overcame his paralysis to draw a comic. Clearly everyone can do that" FUCK. OFF.
"It's stolen art blah blah". First of all, if you printed off a hundred thousand images from google images from other artists and cut them up so small they couldn't be recognized and made a collage of them that could go in any major gallery across the country and would be recognized as "real" art. But write a program to do the same and it's evil? You've been watching too much terminator.
Secondly, if you're worried about ethical concerns, PUSH FOR MORE ETHICAL AI, NOT GETTING RID OF IT. You don't fucking push to make physical art accessibility tools illegal because the people making them are underpaid or work extracting the raw materials in dangerous conditions or even are stealing natural resources from indigenous people (do you only care about stealing when it's a polished finished product? or only because it affects white people?).
In fact, most people don't even blame the people that still use those tools despite the ethical ramifications being about LIFE AND DEATH for extremely marginalized people. With AI art, an artist is not receiving money from someone who was never going to pay them anyway. People are so incensed over a theoretical artist not having complete control over their property, yet don't actually care all that much about the actual LIVES of people working to make any other accessibility tool.
It's very transparent.
And before someone tries to "gotcha" us with "well computers are also made unethically, checkmate".
I know. That's how I know you don't care about the people's lives mining rare earth metals for computer parts or assembling them in sweatshops. Because not a single person has mentioned that until I brought it up about other accessibility tools.
Anyway fuck it. All you nasty fucking ableists have made me pro-AI. If I have to see another disabled person who can make art literally say it's ableist to ever suggest a disabled person couldn't do something with enough accommodations (do you even recognize what you're saying?!), or that it's ableist to say that disabled people would have to resort to art theft to do art (oh so now it's disabled people's fault that "art theft" is happening?) or anything I'm going to throw up on all of your shoes.
And maybe consider what "art theft" actually is. Consider that the corporations running the AI are PROFITING off of TRAINING their data sets on art they do not own. An individual person collaging thousands of artists' pieces into a unique new art piece unrecognizable to the originals is not an art thief - quite frankly, even if they sell it. Using a program to cut out thousands of hours of human labor required to do this doesn't change that (computing power is literally SUPPOSED to streamline human processes like this).
Don't get me wrong, I'm not an AI art bro who thinks there's nothing wrong with it ever and that it's always perfectly ethical and that the people concerned with it are all [lack of intelligence used as insult].
I've just been convinced by the weakness of and holes within anti-AI arguments plus the massive ableism of anti-AI supporters that being anti-AI is not a position I want to stand with them on.

Same anon as before talking about writing stuff and worrying about if people will find it (but not the same anon as the other asks before that) - I think many people who are budding writers and artists have these concerns and bring them to you because you A). Are a creator yourself so you know what you're talking about in a verified sense and B). Idk about other anons but some of us (like me) take your reasoning (and critique) in regard to writing seriously because of your experience and how you analyze stuff such as LO.
I think at least some of us (again I can't speak for everyone nor can I or should I) wants to make sure they're not making mistakes such as the ones RS does in writing.
Also I might just take you up on your offer of Zelda fanfic - I do so love LoZ 😅.
ugh god, am I y'all's role model now or smthing? why would you do that to yourself (ㆆ_ㆆ)
okay but jokes aside, obviously people can't help who they look up to and I'm not gonna be a dick if y'all look up to my work and what I do here, just remember also that you're not obligated to agree with everything I say or take it to heart, you also shouldn't take my analysis of LO and how it's written/drawn personally because so much of that analysis is within the VERY specific definitions in which LO exists, definitions that don't really apply to many other webtoons on the platform. If there's anything I say or criticize LO for that speaks to you and your own work on a certain level, try not to take it as a direct personal attack towards you and more just like... if the things I'm saying about LO feel like they apply to your work, take it as advice for improving your own craft.
Or don't! You can literally ignore me and do what you were gonna do anyways. I literally cannot take that away from you and you absolutely shouldn't let me. I have no real power over anyone here, that's what I mean when I say I'm just a guy participating in their hyperfixation so don't feel like you gotta take me too seriously lmao
Also, yeah, okay, I'm a webcomic creator myself, but to put myself on the cross for once - I've never succeeded at this gig. Rekindled is the most consistent audience I've had in years, I think the last time my work was in a banner rotation was in 2015 (and it wasn't on WT), and I somehow make something like $20/month off Patreon. I've had small victories along the way, it hasn't been all bad, but this isn't my living and chances are low I'll ever find mass success with it. Everything I said about not taking my opinion too seriously because I'm just a random Internet guy applies to people like Rachel as well, while I criticize her work on the basis of it being a commercial product that should know better and I DEFINITELY harp on her for a lot of shit, at the end of the day she's in no way obligated to pay even a second of attention to me because she's made way more money in webcomics in the last 2-3 years than I could ever dream of making in the 10 years I've been doing this, that's something I can't take away from her and that was never the goal when it came to discussing her work. All I have to show for my own efforts is experience and rhetoric, and a few odd readers who have been around so long I wonder why they even still follow me LOL I am your typical "can never live up to the success of those who they criticize" chronically online shitposter. I don't think I should have to be on Rachel's level to be able to discuss her work, mind you, that's half the function of an audience to begin with, but it's not like I have any real legitimacy in this industry that you should worry about what I have to say. It's not like I'm capable of robbing Rachel of her awards or the money she's made lol
And by all means, go ahead and look for my fanfiction stuff, but I'm not providing any eye bleach because I wrote it when I was like, 13 years old, so search at your own risk lmao
(and if you do find it, no you didn't (︶^︶)/hj)

Does Greek mythology count as a fandom? Probably not but still there's definitely the community there.
Also i don't like the minute something becomes popular like a series or movie people jump to fanart and i feel the anxious urge that i have to draw it only because it's popular and it may gain popularity.
It's general yeah for commissions but internet has become hostile to new artists so eventually just focus on what i like the most. Though it's also not bad when your art gets appreciated.
well I count everything as fandom. Greek mythology itself is.... a mythology. The entirety of myths from a specific time and place. I would say "the people who like greek mythology" can consider themselves/be considered part of a fandom for sure. fandom isn't a scientific term so we can say "the cat fandom" etc, whatever we want.
Okay yeah, I understand the fear of missing out, but we also need to remember that the fanartists usually actually like the thing. when something is popular it means many people watch it and a percentage of these people are artists. if 1 in 50 people draws, when 50 people watch something then you have only 1 making art, if 50.000 people watch it then you have a thousand artists. that's an over simplification but I hope you get my point. FOMO is an issue we need to work on in ourselves because it's a useless burden.
There's a discussion i've seen happening a lot about the problem with fandoms getting faster and faster, where the majority of fans consumme everything within a month and then forget the thing afterwards, making fanartists feel like they have to rush. That's a problem with media in general imo, and it's up to everyone individually to understand this is a problem, slow down and enjoy things more and for a longer time. But there will always be people who are fans of a thing years and years after it's done. Star trek fanart, or lotr fanart is still doing extremely well out there.
When everyone and their mother is trying to market you a new band, a new game, a new series it doesn't help. At the same time, nobody can police how long people spend on any one interest and nobody owes anyone their free time and attention.
OKay so for commissions, as I said, if your art is good, and you build yourself a small community of artists (even just a few dozens of people) who will see you making a "commissions open" and reblog it, you can get some jobs. then one job will bring another, but it's a very slow process. Another thing about commissions is that you will absolutely get orders that do not interest you at all, and unless you're crazy succesful, you'll have to take them to make a living. so if you see your "making fanart of things you maybe aren't crazy about" as part of your job, maybe that will make it easier.
But literally, don't stress. Just post your art and try to focus on growing as an artist. If you don't rely on commissions to pay rent and food, literally give 0 fucks about the audience.
Final note, it really is extremely rewarding and the best motivation, to have your art appreciated by others. The more you grow and the more you share it, the more of that you'll get. People are usually very drawn to others who are passionate. Whatever you're passionate about, share it. Be annoying, even. post stupid sketches, post whatever. I thought I was just gonna be screaming into a void about alcibiades but i've found a bunch of people who also want to scream about him and it's great.
P.S. PRO TIP I JUST THOUGHT OF. One could say this is a bad thing, idk, but the way social media is, it pays off to show yourself along with your art. I don't mean show pictures. I mean post about your day. Post your thoughts, whatever. Make your presence more personal rather than "I just post my art", especially on places like twitter and tumblr. On instagram, you can do that through stories. Share funny things, be engaging. I have favorite artists that I know nothing about, but the ones I feel like I know personally I will be more likely to support by buying merch/commissions or helping them promote their stuff. It makes people feel like they can talk to you more.

forgive me for writing so much about tumblr but i have a lot of thoughts
here's the thing about tumblr. i've found it interesting how we continue to call our profiles our "blogs" even though they function differently to the common idea of a blog (like livejournal). but in a way, calling our profiles our blogs makes sense. they're our place to post things we've made or repost content we like. it's more personal than twitter, which has an "information" or "discourse" lens applied to it. the focus on twitter has increasingly been to encourage sharing of information (i.e news or opinions). tumblr's focus has always (afaict) been to encourage sharing of our creations, kinda lumping blogging in there as "self expression" or something to that effect. technically speaking, artists should be more at home on tumblr than on twitter.
but people using their blog as ONLY a blog (no reblogs, just their thoughts or creations - like a livejournal) are in the minority on this site, right? make no mistake, i follow tons of artists who use their blog in a very focused way, but mostly we're all reblogging other people's posts, putting their art on our blogs and riffing in the tags on people's jokes. it is very much a site of Content, Things To Share. the fact that we can blog on here almost feels oddly secondary. but, ok. tumblr is a site for people to post their creations/content, and said content finds an audience through being discovered or reblogged.
so why is it so damn hard to find anything?
like, ok, obviously we can do that. type words into the search bar and you will definitely find posts. but dont you often wonder why the hell some posts showed up in your search and others didnt?
Tumblr media
you're telling me filtering searches by top posts of all time isnt showing me the post that has this exact string of text (+- punctuation), but is showing me posts that... have those words in them, scattered, and sometimes not even that exact word ("piss" vs "pissing")?
what about when you try to search for a word or phrase that you KNOW is on a blog in some post, but searching for it brings up NOTHING? i just had to deal with this when searching someone's blog for a specific post i had just seen on my dash - i can only imagine tumblr told me no such post existed because it wasnt tagged with that word.
and all of this feels so obviously wrong, right? even without tags, we should be able to search for words or phrases in a more reliable way on both the site and our blogs. i dont think im alone in the thought that the search function is almost useless - even if it gives me what im looking for sometimes, it can be a struggle, and mostly it just doesnt feel worth it. this is how we can keep ourselves in insular circles and struggle to break out of them. it is literally easier to do this than it is to find new shit.
so, yknow, staff isnt wrong when they say this:
Tumblr media
tumblr does need growth, but not necessarily by attracting new users (though, idk, i wouldn't mind that). tumblr needs internal growth. this site is stuck in the early 2010s in a way that is baffling to me, and it has continuously failed to adapt to its userbase's needs in a way that honestly doesnt make sense, and when they do change something, it just ends up causing more strife between staff and users.
so, for example: tumblr needs money to keep functioning, obviously. the common practice is to have ads on the site. but oops, the ads suck and everyone hates them. ok, allow users the option to pay to get rid of ads. but oops, a lot of people dont want to give money to the site that continuously breaks itself (among many other complaints). ok, meet users in the middle and allow them to pay to advertise their stuff - this should be, like, the perfect mix of everything, right? being able to advertise your content on the content site? but oops, this is only a good option because finding new content is so goddamn hard that random people shoving their posts onto your dash is the only remaining viable option. when you have to rely on pure chance/luck for your posts to even be found, even when you do everything in your power to increase their visibility, you're not gonna want to stay here.
i feel like addressing the search function should be the staff's top priority before they implement anything else. we need to be able to find content on the content site. i think thats pretty obvious. once it works the way it already should have, then they can worry about what comes after. i think people feel this animosity with staff because we're struggling to continue to use this site while they struggle to find ways to get money out of us. i think if people felt they could actually use tumblr in the way it intuitively feels like it should be used, that kind of animosity would be more rare*. but until we get that, any change to the site is going to feel wrong.
fwiw though, i'm glad to see staff say that the site basically doesn't work. like. goddamn. took them long enough. i just hope (probably baselessly) that their acknowledgement of this issue will lead to some fixes that benefit the foundational usage of the site.
*yes, there is animosity towards staff for other reasons - like, yknow, how innocuous selfies of trans women get flagged as "mature" (among other things) - but that's an issue of culture/enforcement and not necessarily the raw function of the site, so i feel like it's best suited for a different post
tl:dr PLEASE FIX THE FUCKING SEARCH FUNCTION, IT NEVER SHOULD'VE BEEN ALLOWED TO BE THIS BAD AND I THINK ITS ISSUES HAVE BEEN A MAJOR REASON FOR TUMBLR'S STEADY DECLINE

adding to the latin conversation 🫶 it is completely true. i think latin americans do have a culture of being passionate about the things we love, such as music and sports. but what this person said is so so true about every concert here being potentially the last. harry has done so many shows across the us and europe, i have no idea when he will tour here again, and i totally understand because it must be so tiring. but, you know, by the end he will have toured both the us and europe twice in the last two or so years. we don’t really have that. and aside from the fact that international artists only come to brazil, argentina and mexico, when they do, it’s not like they tour the country. here in brazil, for example, 98% of the time they only come to são paulo and rio, which is so incredibly frustrating, because brazil is huge. i know europeans would say “but they usually only come to one or two cities here as well”, but the fact of the matter is that traveling to different cities/countries is a lot easier for them. they can literally do it by train, whereas in brazil people like me, who aren’t from the southeast (são paulo and rio) have to pay expensive plane tickets. i don’t know if anyone here knows this, but if you don’t count the state of alaska, brazil is bigger than the USA. and we don’t get half of the amount of shows they have over there. also, every single country in europe fits in the territory of brazil – like, every single one of them, together. of course, not counting russia. and harry usually plays more shows in new york alone than he does in the entirety of our continent. plus, it is expensive to bring those concerts here, so we don’t get stuff like the kitchen, the different stage. that would make it even more expensive. we pay more to receive “less” and a lot less often.
so yeah, i don’t think people from europe/the us get how different it is for us. i’m still quite shocked harry added so many extra dates in são paulo and this time he is even coming to a different city, curitiba. but it is still frustrating, you know? and not his fault at all. it has everything to do with capitalism and the industry, and nothing to do with harry or any other artist, but it’s still not nice, you know.
I'm so glad you all are sharing this information because, while I know artists don't come to your countries as often as they do Europe and the US, I hadn't known all the details of what makes it such a big deal when they come to LatAm. And all of that is so helpful when it comes to recognizing what a huge amount of privilege we have here (and in Europe). I'm so glad to hear Harry added more shows in more places. And I know Louis went to a ton of places artists don't always travel to. I hope you get to see them both!
