After bidding the team goodbye the next morning you and Bucky head to the kitchen for breakfast.
"How was your first night in the new place?"
"Good. Slept okay. How'd you sleep?"
"I have a hard time getting to sleep any given day but once I did last night I was good."
In the kitchen you pull out a frozen breakfast burrito to heat and grab an apple and peanut butter.  Bucky fixes a huge bowl of cereal. 
"Why aren't you on the mission?" Bucky asks.
"You want the official answer or the truth?" You ask.
"The truth, always."
"Steve didn't want you to be alone so he asked me to stay."
"You were okay with that?"
"Well, you know, my 'particular skills are not needed for this mission'" You say imitating Steve.
"You don't mind being my babysitter?"
"Well, first, I'm not your babysitter. You're a big boy and can wipe your butt all by yourself. Second, I don't mind having some time to take it easy. It's usually hard to come by. And, lastly, the rest of the team has worked with you before. I like that it gives me the chance to get to know you. Not the file or news reports or rumors, but you as a person." Bucky seems taken aback by your answer. "You said you wanted the truth, always." You smile and Bucky seems to relax a bit.
"Thanks." He pauses for a minute but then smirks, "Wipe my own butt? You always had that mouth on ya?"
"All my life." You smile at him.
"Apple and peanut butter?" Bucky asks as he watches you eat.
"It's delicious!" You pick up a fresh slice, scoop some peanut butter onto it. Leaning over the table you hold it up for Bucky to take a bite. "Try it." He eyes you as he bites into the slice you are holding out to him.
"Okay. Weird but good "
You giggle at his expression and pop the other half into your mouth. 
"Are you always happy like this? You always seem to be on the verge of laughing." He asks suddenly.
"No. But, I don't know, I guess I've had the privilege of living my life unlike you and Steve. It's given me the time to work through things, figure out what makes me happy. I guess I've just lived long enough to learn contentment. And I think that's the basis of happiness."
"Lived long enough? You're what? 25? 30?"
Your face falls. "You haven't read my file."
"No."
"Have you read any of them?"
"No. It feels... invasive. Like I'm prying."
"It's not. It's just basics. Nothing overly personal. Abilities. Skills. Things you need to know in the field." You say emphatically. "For example, let's say we're on a mission. I get shot. Femoral artery hit. Bleeding out. What do you do?"
"Apply a tourniquet. Determine if I can complete the mission without you dying."
"Wrong. You just wasted time and possibly cost us the mission. You do nothing. I don't need medical attention." You take a deep breath, "I'm a Gifted. I have healing abilities. My body will force out the bullet and the wound will be repaired within 90 seconds. Blood supply restored in minutes. You and Steve heal fast but I put your abilities to shame there."
"Do you have any other abilities?"
"Additional strength, not your level but decent. Increased metabolism. Slow aging." You pause and look directly into his eyes, "And empathic telepathy."
"Like Wanda?"
"Wanda's a little different. She's more telepathic in the sense of reading minds and forcing waking dreams. My ability allows me, if I choose to, read people's emotions. And I can imbue people with emotions."
"Force them to feel things?"
"Ye...yes." You say hesitantly and then look him directly in the eyes, "Look, I have read your file and I know you've had your mind messed with enough. I will never, NEVER do that to you without your consent. Never."
You stare at each other for a moment before Bucky gives a slight nod.
"Is it helpful?"
"My specialty was deep cover. Being able to force trust, calm, caring. It makes getting to the inner circles easier. But after doing it for so long I had to get out. I was other people so much I started to lose myself. So, I told Fury that I wanted out. And then the world blew up and I ended up right back in the middle of it. I think I'm where I'm supposed to be now."
"How do you do it?"
"I just think it and I kinda push it to the other person. It's even easier when I'm touching them. If a person can somehow resist me mentally, once I touch them the resistance fades."
"What all can you make them feel?"
"Any emotion. Several if needed."
"Fear? Panic?"
"Yes."
"Pain?"
"Emotional pain, yes."
"Love?"
"Yes."
"Pleasure?"
You look at Bucky and raise an eyebrow at that one before replying in a low voice, "Yes."
"Have you done it to me?"
Voice strong again, "No. Never without your permission."
"Our teammates?"
"Only with their consent. Most people want to try it at least once."
"I have nightmares sometimes." Bucky says quietly.
"Yeah." Your tone softens.
"Could you calm me if that was happening?"
"I can, yes. I can also help you sleep. Do you want me to?"
Bucky stares into his bowl of cereal for a moment. When his eyes flicker up to you there is a tinge of red to them. He gives a slight nod. Reaching over you curl your hand around his wrist. "You're my teammate, my friend. I'll do anything I can to help you. Anything, okay?"
Bucky gives a small nod.
"Okay. Time to get some training in. Don't want Steve to think I'm slacking the first day without him." You start clearing your breakfast dishes.
"He's a real drill sergeant, huh?"
"Sometimes." 
"Wait, how old are you? I take it, older than 25."
You laugh, "That's sweet, Buck. I'm 62."
"So Sam was including you in his geriatric patients?"
"I think you have to be over 65 to be in that category. You and Steve are still the geezers of the place." You smirk at him. "I'll catch up with you later."
"I'll see you in the training room in a bit."
"Sounds good." You say as you walk to the elevator. Your heart hurts a little for Bucky knowing it had to be hard for him to ask for help. You hope he knows how strong he is, how brave to ask.
Before Bucky heads to the training room he detours to his room. Going to the desk he pulls out the stack of files Steve had given him and quickly located Santi's. Flipping it open he read:

Bucky closes the file and heads to the training room. He spots Santi lifting weights and joins her. "So, 'The Saint', huh?"
You laugh, "You read my file?" 
"Yeah."
"That's what you took away from it? My code name?"
"Bella Santi Delarosa. Beautiful Saint of the Rose?"
"I was born on All Saints Day. My parents were Catholic." You shrug. "Any other questions?"
"I noticed the slight southern accent so Alabama made sense. Did you grow up there?"
"Until I was 13."
He wanted to ask what happened but knew it wasn't the right time to get into it. Deciding on a subject change, "Expert marksman?"
"You bet your ass."
"I was gonna bet lunch, actually."
"Knives or guns?"
"Knives."
"Yay!" You clap your hands as you move to the weapons cage to pull out knives. "Let's start with a target and we'll see if we need to get to trick shots to determine a winner."
Bucky glances at the body shaped training target at the end of the range, picks up a knife, and says "Right eye." The blade finds its mark with barely a glance. 
"Left eye." Hit.
"Left shoulder." Hit.
"Right shoulder." Hit
"Center mass." Hit.
"Same." Hit within millimeters of his knife.
"Nose." Hit.
"Mouth." Hit.
Getting an idea you move in a bit closer as he says "Forehead" and aims. As he's preparing to throw you reach on tiptoe and blow in his ear. The knife hits the target's groin. 
"I'm sorry. Did you say forehead or foreskin? If it was forehead, you were a little low on that one, weren't you?" You say still right next to Bucky's ear. Bucky turns eyes wide and swallows hard. You smile innocently up at him. 
"Wouldn't you call that cheating?" Bucky's voice is gravelly as he stared down at you.
"I'd call it winning. After all, out in the field there's all kinds of distractions. You have to get used to them." You say in mock innocence with a sweet smile.
Bucky tries to keep a straight face but a chuckle slips through. "Fine. I'll give you this one, Doll."
"I accept your defeat. There is this great diner right by the Museum of Natural History. They have phenomenal burgers and then we can go to the museum."
"I thought the bet was for lunch."
"Well, I figured I'd take you to the museum as a consolation prize. After all, I did cheat."
"I'm not taking you away from any plans?"
"Those were my plans. Now, you get to pay for lunch though."
Bucky laughed and his heart warmed a little at the thought that you had planned out the day with him. 
"Let's finish training and then we can get ready to head out." You say heading back to the weights.
Three hours later, you arrive at the diner and both order burgers and fries.
"Can I ask you something? Personal?" Bucky asks, glancing at you nervously.
"Anything. I'm kind of an open book. Which is unusual in this group."
"Yeah." Bucky says on a short laugh "What happened to your family?"
You knew it was coming at some point. "You want the short or long version?"
"Long if you're comfortable with telling it."
"Yeah." You pause to collect your thoughts. "You read my file so you know I grew up in Mobile, Alabama. My parents were Marco and Guilia and I had a brother named Luca. He was two years younger than me. My parents wanted more kids but it just didn't happen. We were a big Italian family. Steve always says he knows I'm Italian because I'm loud, always eating, and am touchy-feely."
Bucky laughs "Sounds right. You've never shied away from touching me."
"Sorry." You say feeling a slight blush creep up. "Please let me know if I make you uncomfortable. I just don't think about it much."
"No, I like it. Most people don't get very close to me. Keep going"
You smile blushing a little more but continue with the story. "My grandparents, my dad's parents, had a bakery. Most of the family worked there. I loved it. I had 8 aunts and uncles, a million cousins. Big, big family. Nice life, ya know. Lots of love and lots of drama. Then when I was thirteen, we were driving home from my cousin's birthday party and our car was hit by an 18-wheeler. My parents died on impact. Luca…" you pause and swallow hard willing the tears away. Clearing your throat you continued, "Luca died while they were trying to get us out of the car. He was such a sweet kid. Tender-hearted and quiet. I should have died too. My injuries were severe but that's when my mutation kicked in. Before they even got me out of the car my injuries healed. I didn't understand what happened. The doctor explained the mutant gene while I was in the hospital. I was so wracked with guilt that I lived. I didn't want to hear anything about it. Then my family… they were scared of me. I could feel it. They turned me over to the state. They didn't want anything to do with me. I was put in a group home and first chance I got I ran. Ran for nine years before SHIELD found me. They took me in. Taught me that my mutation was a calling not a curse." 
The food came at that point and you both dug in hungrily. Bucky looked up after a few bites. "What'd you do the nine years you were running?"
"Petty theft, lot of trespassing, might have been a grand theft auto somewhere in there, and then I joined the circus."
Bucky laughed, "Serious?"
"Yeah. I got a job helping set up and take down for a circus and when they left I kinda stowed away and they let me stay. I grew up dancing and doing gymnastics, so they taught me aerial silks and rope tricks. I ran errands, took care of the animals, cooked, and eventually even performed."
Bucky narrows his eyes at you, "You're pulling my leg."
"No. It was the 70s. I'll show you some pictures when we get back."
"What exactly are aerial silks?"
"They're sheets of silk you use to perform contortions while kinda flying in the air. I'll show you one day. I still love doing it." Bucky still looked skeptical. "What?" You finally ask when his face was still scrunched up.
"You really have pictures?"
"Yes. Tell me about when you and Steve were kids." Trying to get the subject off of you for a minute. 
You looked across at Bucky and saw a genuine smile on his face for a moment. He launched into a story and was more animated than you had seen before. It was endearing the way his face lit up talking about pre-serum Steve and their antics. He looked young and happy for a few minutes. 
The spell was broken when the waiter delivered the check. Staying true to the bet, Bucky paid and then you walked to the museum a block away. You had already purchased the tickets online and went right in. It was only 12:30 and it seemed to be a slow Tuesday as you were nearly alone in every exhibit. Bucky was enthralled. He went from display to display pointing out observations, wondering at the discoveries, and fascinated with the history. Sometimes even grabbing your hand to follow him. You were enthralled by him. It seemed like for a few hours the weight lifted from his shoulders. 
You stay at the museum until closing and then head back to the tower. Bucky talks nearly the entire way back about the museum exhibits. You thought your heart would burst that your outing made him so happy. 
Heading to the kitchen you look in the fridge. "What do you want for dinner?"
"You pick."
"If I pick, we're ordering pizza."
"Sounds good to me. What movie do you want to watch?"
"You're not sick of me yet?" You smile, amazed that he wanted to spend more time with you.
"No! I mean, you don't have to watch a movie with me. I just thought, ya know, pizza and a movie. You had, uh, mentioned the Star Trek movie yesterday, so I thought maybe..." He trailed off.
"Sounds good to me." You echoed his earlier sentiment and he smiled at you.
You sat on the couch eating pizza and watching the movie. After a while you ended up shifting to lean into Bucky and rest your head on his shoulder.
"You okay?" He asks.
"A little cold. I'm sorry, am I making you uncomfortable?" You say, moving away a little. He doesn't answer. Instead he grabs his hoodie and drapes it and his arm over you giving a little squeeze. You snuggle into him. It's a little harder to concentrate on the movie enveloped by his warmth and smell. 
After the movie was over, Bucky looked over at you, "Tired?"
"No, not really. You?"
"No."
"What'd you think of the movie?"
"It was interesting. I'd like to see the next one. Right now, I'm interested in seeing some pictures someone told me they have."
"Oh, yeah. Let's go to my room and I'll find them." You stand and stretch your arms over your head bowing your back. When you look at Bucky still sitting on the couch his eyes aren't quite on your face. You clear your throat ostensibly and his eyes snap up to yours while his cheeks gain a little pink tinge. "Come on, Buck." You turn away smiling to yourself. 
You get to your room and find the photo album with pictures from the Seventies in it. Placing it on the bed in front of both of you, you skip the first few pages and flip until you find pictures from the circus. They're starting to fade with age, but there you are riding an elephant, another showing you contorted in the silks, one where you are surrounded by clowns, cooking in a tent, and a few more showing your circus life. 
"You weren't kidding!"
"Of course not! It was actually a pretty fun time in my life. It was easier being accepted there. Once I got past being first of May."
"First of May?"
"Green. New. Takes awhile for circus folk to warm up but they're good to you once they do. They were like a big family." 
"Why'd you decide to leave?"
"SHIELD. They could help me learn to control my powers. And to be able to use them for something good."
"What are these other pictures?" Bucky asks as he flips back to the beginning of the album. 
"Oh!" You say in surprise. You reach for the album but Bucky is already looking at the pictures. Resignedly, you explain, "That was the last family portrait we took."
Bucky looks up at you sorrowfully, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have." He goes to hand you back the album.
"No, it's okay. It's been a long time since I looked at them." You point to the next photo. "That was my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary."
"Is that the entire town of Mobile?
"No, that's just my grandparents, their kids, and all my first cousins."
"First cousins?!?"
"Yeah, they were prolific. What can I say? My parents were picked on because they only had two of us."
"How old are you here?" He points to a picture of you holding a stuffed bunny.
"Three, I think." The next picture is you holding a baby Luca. You reach out and touch his little cherub cheeks but only feel the cold plastic covering the photo.
"You miss him?"
"Yeah. I guess you never stop. Losing a sibling sucks, ya know? They're the ones that are supposed to be with you through it all. You expect grandparents and parents to die, but your siblings are supposed to be there. Do you?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I miss Rebecca."
"Sorry. I shouldn't have brought that up."
"No, it's okay. But I probably should get some sleep."
"Yeah."
Bucky gets up and puts the album back on your shelf. "Night, Santi."
"Night, Bucky." You say in a small voice.
"Hey." He waits until you look up at him. "You okay?"
You force a smile, "Yeah, I'm good."
He hesitates, studying you. 
Finally, you give in to yourself. "Actually, can I have a hug?"
"Absolutely!" He walks over to you taking your hand and pulling you up before wrapping his arms around you. You put your arms around his waist and your head on his shoulder. After a minute you feel a soft kiss pressed to your forehead. "Sweet dreams, Doll."
"You, too." You say as you reluctantly let go. You change into a sleepshirt and get ready for bed. Knowing sleep won't come for a while you pick up a book.
A couple of hours later you feel your stomach twist in knots and a loud grunt issues through the wall followed by "NO!" Getting up quickly you knock on Bucky's door, "Bucky, are you okay?" You listen for a second but only hear another grunt. You knock again, "Bucky?" You say a little louder. 
"Стоп!" Hearing the Russian word from Bucky made your decision. You turn the knob and walk in. Bucky is thrashing a bit on the bed. His right hand is clenched around the sheets.
"Bucky, wake up. Hey. Come on, Buck." You put a knee on the bed and lean over to shake Bucky. The moment you touch his shoulder he sits up. The knife in his left hand lands with a thunk in your side. You hiss at the pain but stay still. "Buck. Bucky, hey." His eyes are far away and you know he hasn't come out of it yet. You put your right hand over his hand gripping the knife and your left on his shoulder suffusing calm into him. "Buck, I'm calming you. You said it was okay. Look at me, darlin'. Hey, hey." You see his eyes begin to focus. Finally, he looks at you. "Good. Hey, love, I need you to let go, okay?" You gently nudge his left hand which is still firmly holding the knife in you. You see him glance down and panic blanches his face. Suffusing calm again you take your left hand and touch his face drawing his attention to yours. "I'm okay. I just need you to let go. Bucky, talk to me."
"I'm so sorry!" Comes out in a panicked whisper as he lets go. 
"Bucky, I'm fine. Healing ability, remember?" You gather the ends of your shirt and brace to pull out the knife. "Mmmm...had to be a serrated one, huh?" You press the shirt to the wound to staunch the blood flow and look at Bucky. He looks shattered. "Bucky, everything's okay."
"I stabbed you." He whispers.
"Better me than anyone else." You give a humorless little laugh. You wipe the knife on part of your shirt and set it down on the nightstand. 
"I stabbed you."
"90 seconds, Bucky. 90 seconds and I'll be healed. No harm, no foul."
"I stabbed you and you're laughing." He looks at you incredulously. 
"What's a little stab wound between friends?" You smile but he still looks lost. "Bucky, another empathic part is I can let you feel how I'm feeling. Can I show you?"
He nods and you put a hand on his. "What do you feel?"
He looks in your eyes finally, "Calm. Caring. Worry for me."
"Exactly. I'm fine. Now, are you okay? You were having a nightmare."
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay." You pull him into a hug keeping your bloody side away from him. He puts his right arm around you and runs his left hand up your arm to your neck. Pulling away he looks into your eyes, glances down to your lips, and then back with an almost questioning look. It doesn't take empathic ability to know what he's feeling and your heart twists a little. You raise up a bit and kiss his forehead like he did for you earlier that night.
"I'm gonna get cleaned up. Can I borrow a shirt?" You stand up and that's when Bucky notices you had bunched your shirt up to stem the wound exposing your legs and a pair of peach colored panties. 
Tearing his eyes away he stands up quickly and pulls open a drawer. "Yeah, here, Doll." 
You look in the drawer and pull out a black ribbed tank from the top. "This will work." You say as you head into his bathroom. 
Bucky watches you walk away thinking with the peach colored underwear it almost looked like you weren't wearing anything down below. He shook the thought away. Nice, Buck, you stab her and then ogle her, he thinks to himself. 
You take off the shirt you are wearing and grab a cloth to clean off the blood. After washing your hands you slip on the tank. It comes down just past your butt and almost looks like a dress on you. A very short dress. Staring at yourself in the mirror for a second you can't deny the feelings developing in you. Bucky is...you can't even describe it. Beautiful inside and out. But too often your empathic abilities had interfered with real feelings. You had wanted to kiss him in that moment but the emotional charge was too much. What if that's all it was? The heat of the moment? It was too soon. You'd known him for less than 48 hours. Sighing, you shake off your thoughts and walk back out. Bucky eyes you from where he is sitting on the bed. 
"You okay?" He asks. 
"Yes. See? No harm, no foul." You lift the tank up to show him. 
He raises his left arm and touches your side. The cool touch from his metal hand breaks your skin into goosebumps. You cover his hands with yours and for a moment get lost in his eyes when he looks up at you. 
Breaking eye contact you pull the shirt back down, saying softly "It's late. You should go back to sleep." 
"I don't think I can." He says.
You sit next to him on the bed. "Lay down. Get comfortable. I'll help you."
He lays on his side and hugs his pillow. Running your hands through his hair, you suffuse calm and see the tension slip away a bit. Giving him a minute before suffusing lethargy, you watch as his muscles start to relax. Finally, you suffuse a sleepy feeling. You can't force sleep but have found that when these three feelings combine they make a fairly good sleep cocktail. Bucky's form slowly relaxes and you continue to run your hands through his hair suffusing the sleepy feeling until his breathing evens out. You retrieve your ruined shirt and bloody cloth from the bathroom and the knife from the nightstand. You don't want him to have any reminders when he wakes. Switching off his lamp, you reluctantly head to your own bed.

I was seeing how little he was eating, how hungry she was getting and how difficult it was for her to shift those fat stores. Her pregnancy was a major turning point. PCOS had been mooted before but it was never confirmed until a scan ended up with the radiographer saying “Your ovaries look a little polycystic to me”. This was followed a number of weeks later by a diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes, accompanied by the standard advice – eat regular meals (six per day plus snacks) and make sure you have loads of carbohydrate at each – accompanied by the offer of medication. Well, we were both determined that that wasn’t going to happen, so I set about researching, which is what I do best (well, one of two things, but we’ll come to the other much later). The obstetricians could not believe her blood sugar readings – they were better than most non-diabetics. One of them even asked to see the glycometer, as such low readings could not be possible. How did we do it? By ignoring all the advice we were given, reducing carbohydrates to a very low level (although not keto levels at that point) and using a small number of carefully researched supplements. We didn’t mention the supplements to any medical professional; we had enough patronising advice from them, but it was following the science that allowed my wife to avoid medication and to produce a daughter who was born incredibly healthy and with a great start in life.
I don’t want to criticise the medical community too much, most of them are only trying their best, but there is a certain amount of arrogance which tends to come with being a doctor, which often is not concomitant with their intelligence or knowledge. Just as in any other field of endeavour, ability as a medical practitioner is on a bell curve. In other words, there are a few who are fantastic at their jobs, a few who are truly awful, and most are pretty much middling in ability. I’ve taught students who became doctors, and if I were ever given an appointment with them, I’d run a mile! Most doctors follow the guidelines, and it’s a lottery as to whether you get to see the occasional few who do enough research in the right areas to go beyond that. If we educate ourselves to a high enough level, we may be able to help our doctors to help themselves and then eventually to help everyone else.
So back to the story. So this whole pregnancy episode got me really intrigued. Was everything I knew actually complete bullshit? I had spent around close to 300 hours during Hayley’s pregnancy reading papers and getting familiar with the biochemistry and biology of nutrition, and countless more hours not sleeping but thinking about what I had read. It completely changed my attitude to my own knowledge. It had also deeply concerned me. How could everyone have been so wrong on this for so long? Well, it turns out that they absolutely could be, and the reasons are complex and too long for now (stay tuned for a post on this precise subject), but there was something else that intrigued me.
I have Crohn’s Disease. For those of you who don’t know, Crohn’s Disease is an autoimmune disease of the gastrointestinal tract. What this means is it causes inflammation, ulceration and pain, anywhere from the mouth to the anus. It is essentially when your own immune system decides that your gut is a foreign object and therefore needs destruction. My own Crohn’s was mainly confined to the colon, although I also got very large and painful mouth ulcers. Crohn’s is usually treated with steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs, immunosuppressants, which damp down the immune system, and a more recent sort of therapy called biologic therapy. I had been a biologic many years ago, but I was fairly lucky in that I was OK on just anti-inflammatories and immunosuppressants, however the immunosuppressants were not pleasant. I got every illness going. If I got a cold, I had it bad for two weeks, including having to spend a day or two in bed. I had got to the end of my tether; there had to be another way.
Enter ketone bodies. So if you know anything about ketogenic diets you probably know that when you restrict carbohydrates enough that your body starts to use fat to create substances called ketone bodies, the most important of which for human metabolism is a chemical called Beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB). Well, it turns out BHB has a strong anti-inflammatory effect. “Aha,” I thought to myself,” This might be worth a go”. It was. I had tried to come off medication several times previously, under medical supervision, of course. Always, within about six weeks, I would have a serious and painful relapse. Not this time. I bit the bullet, stopped my medication (this time without telling any medical professionals) stopped the carbs and waited, fully expecting the usual relapse. It’s now been two years drug free and I have never felt better. I would go as far as to say I have no symptoms of Crohn’s. While I would hesitate to say all Crohn’s sufferers should do this, especially the way I did it, it might be worth a try if you’ve had enough of the side effects of your drugs, or if you can’t get any relief and just want an extra bit of help. With medical supervision, of course. It might also be worth a try if you have any other autoimmune disorder, such as ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus and maybe even multiple sclerosis. Please don’t take this as medical advice but try to educate yourself and your medical practitioners as much as possible on this subject. If you want any help in this endeavour please let me know.
Well, this has been a long and rambling story, but we’re almost up to date. Since my discoveries I have helped a number of friends and family members send their type 2 diabetes or prediabetes into remission, lose weight and become healthier, both physically and mentally. My wife is slimmer, healthier and feels generally better. I didn’t even realise I had fat to lose but the recent appearance of my abdominal muscles seems to confirm that I actually had a fair bit to get rid of. All by getting rid of refined sugar, starchy carbs and the vast majority of processed foods, and getting BHB levels up. Do I think that everyone should be doing keto? Absolutely not. Everyone’s biology is unique – some people will respond fantastically to a ketogenic diet, some people will get less than nothing from it. But for those for whom it works it is life changing. Hopefully via the website, this blog and the planned videos we will be able to help more people get what they need out of this incredibly powerful dietary intervention.

I keep forgetting that I’m meant to treat my CBD oil and vitamins I take as my medication...
As in I forget to take them at the same time every day and then wonder why they don’t work so well on the days I take them late or forget them entirely. Like I know I’m meant to treat them that seriously. But it just seems to happen that I mess up on taking them at regular times.
I’m not really sure how to stick to a schedule consistently. I seem to manage ok briefly and then it all collapses and not having my CBD oil & vitamins at the correct time has a knock on effect to everything else meaning it becomes even harder to even try to stick to any schedule.
And its not like its a complicated schedule. Its literally just to be up at 10am and to take my vitamins and CBD oil with breakfast, preferably before 11am. Don’t have to be dressed before then - pjs are fine to get something to eat (or all day. I may wear them most of the time except bed time so...) & I always have a glass of drink next to my bed at night just so there is something to drink in the morning without getting up too.
But I’ll still forget to take them until later which means that it messes up everything else. I take high strength vitamin D as most people in my country are somewhat deficient in vitamin D just due to it not being very sunny here and I very very very rarely even leave the house. So yeah, need to take those. If I take them at 10am-11am then that seems to give my body enough time to use the vitamin D to help with melatonin production which then in turn helps regulate my sleep cycle a bit. If I take them later in the day, then everything is delayed to the point that I don’t feel tired enough to go to bed when my boyfriend does, so he’ll go up first and then because I have zero time perception, and terrible task switching ability, I end up staying up unreasonably late. So like now its nearly 6am. Not gone to bed yet. Both yesterday and today I ended up taking my tablets later than is best for me - closer to 3pm. And since taking them at 10am means I can usually feel tired enough to go to bed by 11pm, taking them around 3pm delays that and you get to now kind of times where if it were summer, it would already be light outside.
I keep thinking that there is no way my combo of stuff I take is really helping me all that much, but then I’m shown that it really does when I mess up the timing. Which makes it harder to avoid messing up the next timing.... Like they’re not even to try to fix any executive dysfunction issues. I take the CBD oil to help treat my bipolar disorder (I have not had a serious manic or depressive episode since I started taking it which has been incredible as I had no such luck on any of the antipsychotics or mood stabilisers or SSRIs I was trialled on before - they just made me physically ill on top of mentally ill & certainly did not stop psychosis). Its also helped reduce my anxiety and somewhat reduces my sensory issues. Not totally, meltdowns can still happen, but its increased my threshold which is nice. I take cod liver oil to help with my joints and its supposed to be good for staving off depression, so for that too. Then I take vitamin D because I’m deficient in it, so have to keep my levels topped up (interestingly, if I miss a day & take two the next, I do tons better, so perhaps I’m actually more deficient than I originally thought). Then finally I take vitamin B tablets for the energy, metabolism boost, and its also helped my nails so that’s nice (I like to paint them because its stimmy in so many ways).
I don’t really know where I’m going with this and its already so long. Just I wish I had some level of control over my ability to tell the time, follow schedules even very simple ones and just in general feel like less of a shitty human. Oh yeah and if my joints could please stop being so clicky clacky and just stay put where they are meant to, and if my muscles could please relax for just once in their miserable life that would be nice too. *grumbles in old*

Although I am not one of those people who find themselves unable to work in the morning without daily caffeine intake,
I love the warm kind that makes me feel the happiness that coffee provides me. Life is full of delicate pleasures, as I like to call it, and coffee is one of my countries. However, as I write this, I am about to start my (fourth) experience "A Month Without Coffee". Well, it's not a big experiment, but it's more of a "habit" control. I used to drink up to six cups a day in January, and for me, this is too much. People just say, drink less. No need to give it up completely. Why are you doing that? She loves coffee. I love coffee. I love coffee! It is not bad advice. When giving up caffeine, or any other addictive substance, it is advised to reduce it gradually rather than absolutely nothing to minimize withdrawal symptoms... but I can't do that. I am not an "admin". All or nothing, I find it easier this way. So I'm going to go from six cups today, to zero tomorrow, and that's how you'll stay for the next 28 days. I think you can change your habits by knowing what drives your behavior. Take a few seconds to ask yourself why you're about to drink something. You always have a reason why you should make the choices you make, and when you drink a lot throughout the day, paying attention to whether this reason is productive or unproductive for your health is worth doing. I think of 4 reasons why I chose to choose coffee. Socially (Meet a friend for coffee) - For warmth - For strategic reasons (just before training) - For fun (I just love coffee time) I am sure you have other reasons to add it. "Addict" was not shown on my list, as I do not think I am "addicted" or "dependent" on coffee, or anything else in this regard. I think another reason to give up is not only due to serious health considerations, but also to prove to myself that coffee is not controlling me, I choose to drink it, and it can stop at any time. All I have to do is replace my coffee with a drink that rewards me in the same way, and this is much better for my health. Another way to control what you drink is to look for signs that make you choose: a specific time of day (such as morning), a particular place (such as Starbucks), when you are with certain people (for example your co-workers), or emotion (such as feeling tired) ), Or ritual behavior (such as waking up with coffee). By getting rid of caffeine, your body will start doing this to remove accumulated toxins and restore adrenal and liver functions. You'll convince yourself that you directly are managing, and you'll choose and stick with it. This is often something you'll know.

he can walk about in sunlight for very limited amounts of time if he is fully fed, otherwise unharmed, mainly because of his extensive age, but we’re really only talking minutes rather than hours - it is not a pleasant experience and it’s really only a parlor trick he pulls out when he absolutely has to make an appearance or has a meeting that cannot be otherwise handled / postponed / etc. he can last about fifteen minutes before suffering external trauma after twenty minutes it’s noticeable to most anyone and while he could probably survive being stuck outside for a full day it would take years and ridiculous amounts of blood to restore his health unless some other magical intervention or extremely powerful blood was available to heal him.  (i may opt for him having a daylight / daywalking ring or brooch or necklace at some point later but i haven’t quite decided).
he has super speed, strength, agility, has skin that is extremely hard to penetrate but not impossible, he can climb walls and leap extreme distances, he is capable of moving at speeds impossible for the human eye to track and he can fly but does not change shapes or turn into a bat or smoke etc.
he does not have to sleep in the earth, or in a coffin, but he does have earth of his homeland in most of his permanent estates and does have sunlight proof /fire proof rooms below ground in most of them as well, and does have things like sun proof windows / curtains / shutters etc. installed in his many residences.  when traveling he has safe guards like his own curtains to hang in his rooms, will sleep under the bed or in closets etc. if necessary.  
he can glamour / hypnotize / command people to his control, to make them do anything for the most part, he’s only met a few in his 4000 years that have been able to resist him.  he cannot glamour other vampires unless they have fed on his blood / are off his bloodline.
he can create ‘ghouls’ aka humans or animals that feed on his blood and this allows him to better control them, manipulate them, for them to sense his intentions and desires if the bond is strong enough, to know if he is in danger etc. extended exposure to his blood concretes the bond of ghoul to master to the point that they would do anything to protect him / to make him happy (renfield etc.) even killing themselves or loved ones to keep him safe.  this bond also allows him to sense their emotions, if it goes on long enough to read their thoughts.  the humans / animals that feed on his blood become stronger, faster, more intelligent, require less sleep, have more stamina, heal faster, etc. the blood is an addiction and can lead to some detrimental side effects if he with holds it or if the ghoul is unable to be fed for some other reason - he often has stashes of his blood stored in his estates for servants or his current paramour in case he doesn’t return before they need a ‘refill’ - usually once a month is enough to maintain / further strengthen the bond.  
he does have a soul per se but if his humanity / attachments to the world lessen beneath a certain level then it’s pretty much the same as turning off humanity or losing his soul and it takes about four times as much effort to creep up that ladder back towards ‘human’ than it does to fall down the ladder.  he’s gone up and down over his many years but very rarely has he succumbed to the darker nature of his species for long.  he prefers to hover at a middle ground, being more immoral than evil, content to linger in the very murky grey, neither very good, nor very evil.
he can eat human food and drink but it does nothing to sate his actual hunger.
he can survive quite some time without blood because of his age but he relishes in the act of feeding and will usually feed at least once a night because… he can.  a few drops of his blood on the wound seals the bite marks and a quick glamour makes the victim forget all about it.  he rarely kills anymore unless it’s necessary to protect himself, his property, etc. or if he’s entirely too riled up - though that’s a fairly rare occurrence.
his eyes are preternaturally dark, but usually that’s just written off as one of his traits - they can gleam a crimson sheen when he’s feeding or extremely angry or lustful etc. but it isn’t something most people see, or would notice unless looking for it specifically.
his fangs retract and protract at his behest, he has four elongated upper canines and two elongated lower canines.  
to create a childer he must drain them to the point of death and feed them his own blood, then bury them in the earth and wait for them to rise.  
a stake to the heart, prolonged exposure to fire or sunlight, beheading are the most efficient ways to kill him though he’s survived quite a long time and is faster and stronger than most of his species, especially the modern generation whose blood has been so diluted / weakened over the millennia.  each generation of vampire created is a little bit ‘less’ than the one before it etc.
garlic, holy water, silver, crosses etc. have no effect on him.
yes he can have sex, no, he can’t father children biologically though he has adopted and raised children throughout the ages.
he casts a reflection & can be caught on film / photography / video.
he is affected by drugs, alcohol, poisons but on a much, much, much smaller degree than humans because his metabolism is practically nonexistent as he doesn’t actually absorb human food or drinks.  the only things that his body can actually absorb are blood, so anything that might mingle with his blood has a very, very minor effect on him.  human diseases by and large do not effect him as his blood is strong enough and powerful enough to simply eat away at any imperfections in any blood he might drink.  he can become affected by drugs and alcohol in the system of the humans / other vampires he feeds off of and if he’s looking for an actual buzz / high he’ll go find someone already intoxicated or drugged to feed off of.  while the buzz doesn’t last as long for him as humans, it still affects him until he has used up / burned through the blood.
he does not have a discernible heartbeat and he does not require breath, though he does breathe.  
while he is not bound by the need for earth from his homeland for normal sleep and recuperation, if he is badly damaged or enters a state of torpor being stored in a casket in the earth from greece or in greece itself does increase his speed of healing.
he can choose to go into a state of slumber for long periods of time, with something of a mental alarm clock that is set for however long he wishes to rest, or until where he slumbers is disturbed, or if a mental call from one of his ghouls awakens him.  upon awakening, depending on how long he was asleep, it takes longer for him to gain clarity and strength and he must ususally feed in greater frequency/quantity than if he has been awake and normally functioning.
he is not immune to binding spells / circles etc. meant for the damned / undead / or if the witch etc. is in possession of his true name - something that he has taken great pains to eradicate from history for predominantly this reason.  he can be controlled via necromancy, though it takes a pretty powerful witch to be able to counter his age / power / natural willpower.  
he has learned mental skills to block minor telepaths but is not entirely invulnerable to them especially if they are powerful or are making a targeted invasion into his thoughts
he does not have any ability to prevent dreamwalkers etc. from entering his dreams and often encounters ghosts and restless spirits in his sleeping thoughts.
I will say that Alexander is susceptible to the effects of vervain as seen in TVD - humans that wear it or imbibe it are protected from his mesmerism and if they’ve drunk it their blood weakens him / if he drinks or eats something with it in it will weaken him though not entirely stupefied etc.
Also he can usually sense other supernatural creatures as being in the vicinity by that prickle at the nape of the neck sensation but if in a crowd etc it won’t be immediately pinpointed. Generally when close enough to catch the persons scent the distinct elements of their blood will at least point him in the right direction - if he’s crossed paths with one he’s identified before. Werecreatures tend to smell like their other form, vampires especially metallic and don’t typically have heartbeats plus other telltale signs that might vary per subspecies (aka a particular verse canon), witches smell like whatever particular element they relate to etc etc. Dragons the same but with a distinct ozone / metallic undertone and so forth. Sirens, mermaids etc smell like the sea. (happy to adapt specifics per other characters canon or preference per thread BTW)
As far as cross canon interactions I am fine with assuming there is more than one species / bloodline of vampires thus resulting in different canons having different weaknesses etc. If Alexanders abilities and powers being different from your characters canon is a problem for some reason feel free to come talk to me I’m sure we can work something out.
Also I’m going to go with the fact that a stake will immobilize him (ie the originals in tvd etc) but it takes fire, sunlight, beheading etc. to actually kill him just because he’s literally fucking ancient.  This allows for more opportunities w/ plots where he might be incapacitated etc. and actually works as a vulnerability imo rather than a bonus.
& If necessary Alexander can burn through stores of his blood for an extreme boost to strength, durability, willpower (to resist torture, supernatural methods of control, to keep his temper in check), to heal faster (useful for enduring sunlight longer etc), to move faster etc. But the cost is pretty poignant and if he burns through too much and his reserves of blood get too low he risks either being forced into unconsciousness with all of its inherent vulnerabilities or full out losing control and going on a rampage until he feeds enough to satiate himself fully.

LARRY KING LIVES LIFE IN OVERDRIVE
Larry King, the rumbling voice of midnight questions, stares at Pat Buchanan, the White House director of communications. King's eyes are intense and prying, his chin is jutted toward the target, his lips are parted to give the impression that he is hanging on every word, about to interrupt but holding back to wait for a gem.
Except for six hours of sleep every 24 hours, Larry King keeps this expression all day and all night.
King's schedule puts demands on his phenomenal energy at an all-time high: He does a daily, hourlong interview show, Larry King Live, for Cable News Network, which reaches more than 300,000 households. He then does The Larry King Show for Mutual Radio, which has been cut back to a live four hours, with the first hour recycled for a five-hour package that reaches 3 million to 5 million people a week. In between these obligations, he writes two newspaper columns. On his slow days, he travels to sports arenas and does color commentary for Home Team Sports -- its audience by mid-June standing at 100,000. Once a month he does a worldwide talk show for the Voice of America and his next guest is scheduled to be Ronald Reagan.
"Certainly I have a weird life. But I like everything I do," says King. At the end of his workday (and night), his companions and staff feel like they just took the red-eye from California in non-reclining seats. Millions of people work two or even three jobs to make ends meet. But, for perhaps the first time in his life, King isn't worried about money. Mutual alone is paying him a reported $2 million on a five-year contract.
Strangely enough, King, 51, never seems to be in a hurry. Lean with a bit of a belly, he moves at the deliberate pace of a batter stepping up to the plate. The voice and metabolism are fed by coffee and cigarettes. He rarely drinks. A long time ago, he mastered naps -- he takes them during the five- minute news breaks on the radio show.
The time is now 11:30 a.m. King already has dressed, taken mucho vitamins and one aspirin -- "because the late Dr. Michael Halberstam told me to" -- worked for an hour on his personality column for USA Today, haggled a bit with an editor on his next book, talked with an insurance company about his daughter's graduation present of a Firebird, and complained that he was missing that night's Orioles game. Before 4 the next morning, he will stop another three times and ask, "Am I crazy?" and then "What is my real complaint? I can't have dinner when I want to, I can't see the KING, F-3
baseball game. But what if I had to be a librarian? No, instead, today I'm going to talk to Pat Buchanan and Harry Blackstone."
This is how he survives.
He eats lunch at Duke Zeibert's, dinner at the Palm. He gets one of his daily calls from his daughter, Chaia King, 17, and his oldest friend, author and consultant Herbert Cohen.
He doesn't prepare beyond his daily consumption of several newspapers, backed up by information from his contacts and his nearly 30 years behind the mike.
"I work with an acquired dumbness, a street dumbness," says King. That means he tries to think about what Joe Citizen would want to know.
From 5 to 9 a.m., he sleeps. He wakes up without an alarm. He tries to nap from 3 to 5 p.m., but the telephone jangles. Sometimes he calls someone personally to ask them to be on the show, such as New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, his first guest on CNN.
It's now 12:15 p.m. King is at his daily table in Duke's in full view of the glass doors. He has ordered coffee and is nibbling on the onion rolls. When his platter of fruit and cottage cheese arrives, he largely ignores it. He talks about his forthcoming book. "Sterling Lord is the agent. He's the kind of guy, you have dinner with him and they remove the plate, you have the crumbs, he doesn't have any. Impeccable," says King.
Bill Aber, the general manager of cable TV's Home Team Sports, tells a King endurance story: "On Wednesday, April 4, 1984, King had done his regular show, then he flew to Cleveland to do a luncheon banquet, then he had to meet us in Baltimore for our kickoff. The game was rained out and at 6 p.m. Larry interviewed celebrities for our party. Then he left at 7 to go to the Capital Centre to do some color on the Caps. Then he did the Wednesday all-night show."
In the last month King spurned offers from every major network and syndicator, says his agent, and renewed his contract with Mutual. The perks include 12 Fridays off and four weeks of vacation each year and a new luxury car every two years. Now he is driving a gray Riviera, on which Mutual put an "L King" vanity license plate, which King hates. Since the phones started lighting up on Jan. 30, 1978, when he was heard on 28 stations, he has built his affiliate stable up to 262 stations. His is the only talk show ever to win the prestigious Peabody Award. In the last few weeks, he signed with CNN for a reported $200,000 over three years. Once that show gets rolling, King says, he will tape a couple of shows a week.
He has had cameos in two movies -- Ghostbusters and Lost in America -- and television will increase his recognition by sight, not just sound. July 12 is King Day in Baltimore. Where once the Mutual show was taken on the road to build up audiences, now it's taken out to satisfy demand. In the next few months it will travel to the All-Star Game in Minneapolis, and to media gatherings in Nashville and Dallas.
It is now 8:15 p.m., the start of his evening's work.
Walking into the television studio, he says, "you got to be pretty weird to be doing radio, television and newspapers. Godfrey used to do it. I'm tired right now but . . . something about that light going on . . . I can't explain it."
Makeup is applied to his face and hands. Then King and Buchanan are facing each other.
At 10:20 p.m. he is at Mutual's studios on the 12th floor of a suburban Virginia highrise. This is home, behind the microphone, checking out the baseball game, doing promotions for a new station. During a commercial break he will do a 2 1/2-minute interview with Harry Blackstone Jr., the magician, for something called Larry King in Focus. On Saturdays the network runs The Best of King.
King has been in one studio or another since 1957, when he moved to Miami after finishing high school in Brooklyn. In Florida he quickly established himself as a radio interviewer, added a newspaper column and did commentary on Miami Dolphins games. But he ran into some well-publicized financial troubles, which forced him to leave broadcasting for four years. In 1979, shortly after taking the Mutual job, he filed bankruptcy for $350,000 in debts. Because of his past financial difficulties, his money is now handled by Bob Woolf, the agent he shares with Doug Flutie, Larry Bird and Gene Shalit. King says he gets a $150 weekly allowance.
Now it's 11:50 p.m. He glances over a press release and talks about his approach.
"You need the ability to listen. A lot of broadcasters don't know how to ask a question. One of my idols, Jimmy Cannon, could pick up every detail but he couldn't ask a question in the locker room. You have to keep it spontaneous, always be curious. I have a good memory, I never expect the answer. I don't think I am a better interviewer than I was at 25. I can relax people."
"Jimmy Hoffa embodies everything you want in an interview, except one thing. You want someone with a chip on their shoulder, passion, a little bit of anger, the ability to relate to the question and to talk about their business. But he didn't have a sense of humor."
At 12:06 a.m., his jacket is off and cigarette dangling. Blackstone is sitting where Gerald Ford, Bob Hope, Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Brooks, Milton Berle, Sophia Loren and scores of others have sat.
At 3:55 a.m. he gets up from the chair, stretches and says he feels really tired. He doesn't hang around the studio. "We have entertained and informed the callers, and we only reach 1 percent of the audience," says King.
He ads: "I don't think much about it. I don't take it home with me."
And he goes home. But he'll be up again in four hours. Making that face.

Should You Really Eat if You’re Not Hungry And Have Constipation?
Constipation usually happens most often due to changes in diet or routine, or due to inadequate intake of fiber.
It’s 8 p.m. and you haven’t eaten since 12 p.m.
You know it’s dinnertime time, but the thing is…you’re not all that hungry. Couple this with the fact that you haven’t really gone to the bathroom since yesterday morning, and the last thing your body is telling you is, “I am hungry.” 
To make yourself eat or not eat when you’re constipated?—That is the question. 
THE (CONSTIPATION & APPETITE) STRUGGLE IS REAL
Constipation induced loss of appetite is real. 
Your regular poop patterns are backed up and it feels like there’s a lot less room in your stomach to eat. 
You wonder if eating another meal will just make things worse, overcrowding your gut even more.
Also, you get hungry, but get full just as fast—as if your body is playing tricks on you (and fights back) when you do eat.
You WANT to eat, but the whole gamble of whether or not you WILL have a golden poo that day is downright exhausting.
Maybe you should just snack? 
Or eat prunes? 
Maybe, sip a smoothie? 
Or eat as normal—and pretend and hope it will all go away?
Aye, aye, aye!
You hate having to think so hard about it. 
You are not alone.
GET THE FACTS
In an ideal world, we’d poop two to three times per day,30 to 60 minutes after every main meal, and move approximately a total of 12-inches of feces out of our body daily *without the use of coffee, supplements, laxatives, colonics, or any other methods). 
However, this is not the case.  
Approximately 99% of people will experience constipation at some time in their life—technically defined as a condition in which you have fewer than three bowel movements a week, or you experience hard, dry and small bowel movements that are painful or difficult to pass.
Constipation can lead to other symptoms as well, including bloating after meals, painful stomach cramps, low energy (1, 2), anxiety, low mood and…loss of appetite. 
Constipation typically doesn’t just come from out of nowhere—like something you’re born with. Outside stressors that contribute include:
Poorly chewed food
Eating too fast or on the go
Low-fat or low-carb diets
Artificial sweeteners
Travel (“traveler’s constipation”)
Eating higher amounts of dry foods (nuts, bars, jerky, gluten-free products)
Antibiotics, birth control, NSAIDS and other medications
Bacterial overgrowth in your GI tract
Low water intake (dehydration) or poor quality water
Not eating enough
Chronic stress (high-intensity workouts, low sleep, anxiety and mental stress)
Sedentary lifestyle or overtraining
Poor or slow GI motility (transit time)
Hormonal imbalances
Food intolerances
Eating too many raw vegetables or dietary fiber at once
  —Just some examples.
With such a wide array of triggers, it’s no wonder that constipation has become a “norm” for many people.
Leaving you with the same dilemma.
Will experiencing “normal” appetite, eating and bowel patterns EVER be in the cards for you?
The short answer: Yes, they can be. 
Just like eating Big Macs and Dortio chips are not technically normal for humans (but have become “normal”), constipation does not have to be your normal either. 
Before we talk about a few ways to help you address your constipation, what should you do when you’re constipated and not hungry?
EATING & CONSTIPATION
The reason why loss of appetite often strikes with constipation is often due to slowed GI-motility—it’s as if food is sitting there, undigested and taking it’s pretty (sweet) time moving through your system.
What causes slow GI-motility?
Multiple factors!
An overgrowth of unhealthy bacteria, low stomach acid, restrictive eating  and/or an irritated intestinal wall can often lead to “sluggish digestion” and consequently, the appetite loss often experienced with constipation. 
When the gut is imbalanced to any degree, this often sets the stage for other imbalances as well—both digestively (i.e. constipation) and nutritionally (i.e. nutrient deficiencies). 
For instance, bacterial overgrowth in your small intestine may find your gut bugs completely happy campers, left feasting and eating residual, fermenting (undigested) food particles in your gut. This signals to your brain that something inside is getting fed, suppressing the hunger signals of otherwise hungry organs and cells, simply because these unhealthy bacteria have put a cap on the “norm” delivery of nutrients throughout your body.
Nutrient imbalances are another side-effect of poor digestion and a trigger for loss of appetite. 
Particularly, those nutrients associated with energy, appetite and metabolism, including: Zinc, low Vitamin B-12 and lowered hormone levels (ghrelin—the “hunger hormone”).
In fact, a 2017 study in the Journal of Neurogastroenterology Motility (Monsinka et al, 2017) found that patients who were given gherlin treatment experienced improved GI symptoms and elimination. 
Another study (Skrovanek et al, 2014), on the effectiveness of zinc for patients with Ulcerative Colitis (i.e. intense IBS), found that healing was positively connected to adequate zinc levels. Zinc is a mineral responsible for appetite regulation. 
Cortisol levels (stress hormones) are another “elephant in the room” that must be addressed with constipation. 
Simply put: When your body is stressed, cortisol gets out of whack.
Imbalanced cortisol not only can trigger constipation itself, but also perpetuate the lack of appetite you may experience with constipation since your body is in the midst of “running from a bear” (for dear life). (And the last thing your body wants to do when it’s stresses is eat while it’s running—Even though you may need to eat). 
INSATIABLE APPETITE & CONSTIPATION
While lack of appetite is the common symptom we’re addressing here, others with constipation experience the opposite—
Regular hunger levels, numerous times throughout the day—only to feel bloated or more constipated shortly after eating, then dipping in energy again two to three hours later, hungry again, eating and perpetuating the cycle.
The hunger is there—but the ability to digest or “handle” the food is not. 
Insatiable or frequent hunger followed by energy dips, fatigue, shakiness, bloating and/or constipation between meals is another direct sign, for some, that your blood sugar is imbalanced and something else is going on underneath the hood (malabsorption, bacterial overgrowth, fungal infection, low stomach acid).
Often times in this case, we are eating, but still starving—our cells and organs are not getting the nourishment they need simply due to the underlying gut imbalance—missing the mark every time.
Additionally, when we eat, we not only eat for one, but for trillions of gut bugs—both healthy and unhealthy.
If we are feeding more unhealthy gut bugs, rather than healthy balanced gut bugs, then our energy supply quickly runs dry—leaving you needing food within a matter of hours, even though you are still constipated. 
SO, SHOULD YOU EAT IF YOU’RE CONSTIPATED?
The short answer: Yes.
Regular, balanced meals (in conjunction with a gut healing approach to your “gut issues”) is the best bet for helping your body heal from GI “issues” over time.
Although you may not always feel like eating—i.e. a growling or an empty stomach—it’s also important to recognize other signs of hunger that can help point you to nourishing your body (even if you’re apathetic to the thought of food).
Feelings like: Fatigue or sleepiness, increased thoughts about food around meal times, sluggishness, difficulty focusing or concentrating, shakiness, headaches, weepiness, and anxious thoughts can be other signs of hunger, and helpful evidence to motivate you to eat enough.
Interestingly, not eating enough food or nourishment for our bodies itself can also perpetuate constipation. 
A study (Chun et al, 1997) of patients with anorexia and severe IBS found that, due to their lack of nourishment, they had a slower colonic transit time. However, when they started eating regular, balanced meals, their colonic transit time increased (i.e. their poop patterns improved).
However, this is not to say that being mindful of and addressing underlying gut issues is still critical.
Other studies of patients with eating disorders—both those with anorexia (lack of appetite) and bulimia (often associated with binge episodes and insatiable appetite)—have found that both populations have a higher incidence of constipation, bloating and other gut symptoms (both pre-and post recovery). 
What this means for you, me and any of the average population? Whether you’re under-eating, over-eating or have ongoing “gut issues” yourself, there is often more to the story of healing from your gut issues than just “eating enough” or “eating the right foods.”
IBS, constipation, and frequent bloating can often stem to several of the GI imbalances we’ve already discussed (bacterial overgrowth, low stomach acid, nutrient deficiencies), and in order to heal, not just have “some relief,” the bigger piece of the puzzle may need to be addressed. 
WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT
Healing from chronic constipation is no one-size-fits-all-approach, but here are a few starting points, and tips for eating enough—even when you’re constipated.
1. Address Stress.
The elephant in the room. Do a gut-check with yourself. What stressors are present in your life right now potentially contributing to constipation? Not just mental stress either. The big areas of influence to consider include:How much sleep are you getting? (Ideal: 7-9 hours)How much water are you drinking? (Ideal: Half your bodyweight in ounces of water)
What environmental toxins do you use or come into contact with daily? (Ideal: Least amount as possible. Glassware containers, stainless steel waterbottles, non-toxic beauty and cleaning supplies)?
How much are you moving your body?
(Ideal: Daily movement encouraged, and everyone’s threshold is different, but incorporating balance is essential—strength, conditioning, low-intensity aerobic work-walking, play, and flexibility—not doing the same thing every day)
How do you let it out or connect? (Ideal: Open communication and connection with people close to you in life; meaningful relationships; feeling of belonging)
Where is your fun? (Ideal: Not all work and NO PLAY; Taking time for YOU each week to do things that are fun and enjoyable).
2. Identify YOUR Food Intolerances.
Just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean it’s “good” for your body (right now). You can be intolerant to broccoli, apples, chicken or kale for all that it matters. Keep a mindful food log for the next 3 days to note how you feel around, before and after meals. (Fun fact: We often crave or think about foods we are intolerant to. This is your gut bug’s way of signaling to you: “Feed me!”)
3. Basics.
Basic gut health is like taking a multi-vitamin or fish oil tablet you’ve been told to take for years (actually BETTER than those). Seeking to support a healthy baseline of gut health may be a missing link if you’re just trying to eat healthy foods alone. This includes:
Drinking enough water.
Chewing your food well.
Taking a quality probiotic supplement
Eating fermented foods and pre-biotic foods.
Bonus: Apple Cider Vinegar (1 tbsp. in water before meals).
4. In-the-Moment Relief.
For those days constipation has ya down, try one of these arsenals:
Yoga sun salutations, moving or going on a walk.
Apple Cider Vinegar (1 tbsp. in water beforemeals)
Ginger tea or kombucha
Sauerkraut—2-3 forkfuls
Squatting—and hanging out there for a minute (or a Squatty Potty)
Mindfully drinking water throughout the day
5. Dig Deep.

Performing cardio later on in the day at night or early evening  is fine   as long as you have the motivation and energy to do it.
