Deborah walked into the club, her tail dragging behind her as she did.

She had heard that Valentino's club had a singer that was to die for.

Ironic, considering everyone here was already dead.

Usually Deborah wouldn't walk into clubs. She was a catholic woman and wouldn't hear of such things as strip clubs.

But everyone had told her that this performance was more of a nightclub thing, which she much preferred over whores and sluts stripping down, dragging Jesus' sacrifice through the gutter.

Deborah found a table near the front, the smell of alcohol and other liquids making themselves known through her cat nose.

"And now, one of the more popular attractions of the night, coming from the house of valentino, everyone give it up for Aponi!" The announcer called.

As the music started, Deborah looked up in shock. The scent of her early departed daughter wafting its way through the club.

Deborah's mouth dropped.

As Deborah watched her daughters performance, a gentleman looking no older than 35 sat down at her table.

"I do apologize for the intrusion, but I always do love her performances," the man says as he sat back to watch Lilly.

His main color was red. He seemed to be a deer demon, and was fairly handsome.

"No trouble at all. She's my daughter," Deborah stated as she took a sip from the martini she didnt remember ordering.

The man glanced at the woman in shock.

"Well then I'm obligated to tell you, your daughter won't be here any longer. I'm going to make a deal with her later today to sing at my new nightclub. She truly is interesting," the man explained.

Deborah raised an eyebrow.

She knew her daughter was a good singer, but she never thought she was THAT good.

Deborah looked away to bring her attention back onto her daughter, and when she turned back the man was gone.

Deborah turned to her daughter, only to make eye contact with her immediately.

Lilly's eyes went wide in shock before she glanced around and gained her composure.

She recognized her mother.

Aponi walked down the stairs of the stage and to where Deborah could make out the outline of the man she was speaking with earlier.

Lilly sang to him in a seductive way.

Deborah did NOT like that.

Maybe Lilly was a whore after she moved out.

She was probably asking for it with Jason. Yes. That's why.

Lilly was a little whore and killed herself, ending up down here.

Deborah glared. She knew the system wasn't messed up. God has a plan for everyone.

Deborah returned her attention to her daughter as she walked back on stage.

Lilly walked to the microphone stand, placing the kicrophone in it as she sang.

As Lilly belted out the last notes, Deborah grabbed her purse and briskly walked out of the club.

Aponi walked into her dressing room and began to bite her nails.

"Knock knock toots! We gotta rush outta here if we're gonna move into the happy hotel soon," Angel stated as he walked into the room. "'Poni whatchu bitin' ya nails for? Val woukd kill ya if he found out you were damaged even a little," Angel spoke as he walked and took Aponi's hands out of her mouth.

"I think my mother was here...." Aponi muttered.

"What? Oh please. She's probably still on earth livin' her life. Ya got nothin' ta worry bout. Now cmon. The only boxes left is your shit and I ain't movin it all," Angel teased before taking Aponi's hand and practically dragging her out of the club.

Wednesday News & Notes from Ocala Horse Properties

Happening this week – the 2024 $100,000 Conceal Grand-Prix Eventing Showcase at Bruce’s Field, presented by Taylor, Harris Insurance Services (GPE) Organizing Committee and the Aiken Horse Park Foundation.

Making the podium at all five editions of the event – and scoring a hattrick of wins – Liz Halliday has three chances to defend her title, with Cooley Quicksilver (winner of the 4*S at Kentucky last season), Cooley Nutcracker (winner of two 4*L events in 2023) and last year’s champ (and Kentucky 5* third place finisher) Miks Master C all set to take their turn in the start box. It’s tough to bet against her, but with a super-stellar lineup, the competition is hot hot hot!

We’ll see all the US big hitters – the likes of Phillip Dutton, Will Coleman, Buck Davidson, Will Faudree and Lillian Heard Wood, who all bring two rides, with Boyd Martin and Doug Payne each having three shots at the title. And the list goes on… Maryland 5* winner Austin O’Connor is over from Ireland, and there are not one but two 2023 Pan-Am Games gold medalists in the form of Caroline Pamukcu (individual gold) and Canada’s Coleen Loach (team gold). There are just too many top contenders to mention here – one thing’s for sure, we’re in for a stacked competition and we can’t wait!

The action kicks off with dressage at 8am EST on Friday, followed by show jumping at 3pm. The cross country gets underway on Saturday at 12:30pm. You can watch it all play out live on H&C+ (subscription required) and we’ll of course be bringing you everything you need to know – keep it locked onto EN and follow @goeventing as we dive into the 2024 season.

Also of note: Today is National Public Sleeping Day, which, to my understanding, means that it’s entirely legal – and indeed encouraged – for you to take a nap, wherever and whenever the Zs take you. Think staff meetings, while waiting in line, during particularly boring conversations you’d rather not be having – please not in the saddle. Wednesday News and Reading

We’re kicking off today’s News and Reading with a couple of cool opportunities – first up the chance to have your event horse’s conformation critiqued by former USEA YEH Championship judge Chris Ryan. All you need to do is send a conformation photo and short video of your horse – straight on and from the side – being led at walk and trot to [email protected] and it’ll be considered as part of the USEA’s Conformation Critique series. You only have ‘til Wednesday March 6th, so cameras at the ready and have at it.

Next up, bookings are open for British Eventing’s webinar with Sally Mcginn from Mind Oddessey, where she’ll be talking all things reflection. From making balanced reflections and dealing with post competition blues to identifying strengths and working on the gaps, the session sounds like it’ll be super helpful for those of us who are striving towards competition aspirations as well as less competitive but thoughtful riders who use reflection to improve their performance when working towards goals at home. The webinar will take place on March 14th at 7pm GMT and costs £15.

And while we’re on the topic of things coming up – what better way to celebrate an extra day this year than to get quizzy with it? In aid of the British Eventing Support Trust but absolutely open to anyone around the world who enjoys getting quizzical, this leap year quiz night is sure to be a blast – and there’s a trophy at stake. If I win, can I claim it as an eventing win? My general knowledge may not be quite so general as it could be, but I’ve for sure got a better chance of winning a quiz than an event. If you’re up for the competition, you need to register to receive the Zoom link, which you can do right here. The questions will be comin’ at ya from 7pm GMT / 2pm EST tomorrow (February 29th). With a bunch of medals to his name, including Olympic gold, US based British eventer and USEF Emerging and Development Coach Leslie Law is a voice we listen to when it comes to training tips. 17-year-old Austin Skeens got to do just that in person when he had the opportunity to train with Leslie as part of the USEF E18 training program, and lucky for us, he’s shared what he learned. With tips for all three phases, from straightness in dressage and nailing your show jumping warm up to making good choices for your horse on the cross country, there’s lots here for us all to take away and work on.

Yes, we’re once more revisiting the phenomenon that is Shane Rose’s mankini – which is apparently not one of the silliest riding costumes ever seen. A research poll conducted by the ‘Chillax Institute’ has concluded that the scrap of neon orange was actually a rather fitting choice, given its aerodynamic properties and the weather in Australia at this time of year. And as far as the accolade of ‘silliest riding costume’ goes, Shane’s mankini didn’t even make the top-five on the list. It’s probably time we put ‘mankini-gate’ to bed, but there’s for sure one more laugh to be had in this satirical jaunt.

And finally… Saving the best / weirdest / most hilarious ‘til last, I present to you donkey basketball. Yes, really. It’s basically basketball on donkey-back, and the justification for such an intriguing addition to the sport is the added unpredictability these stubborn equines bring to the game. You will see plenty of planting. You probably won’t see a donkey doing a slam dunk. (If you’re in any doubt that this is a thing, here’s proof.)

We’re so lucky to be involved in a sport where age and sex pose relatively limited barriers to not only enjoying the sport, but also competing at the highest levels within it. From show jumping legend John Whittaker, who’s still at the top of his game aged 68, to eventing’s own eight-time Olympian, Andrew Hoy, aged 65, and long-time hero Pippa Funnell, who’s smashing it for the horsegirls at 55, there are many shining examples of the longevity that equestrian sports provide athletes. At the other end of the scale are competitors such as Sky Brown, Britain’s youngest ever summer Olympian, who won a bronze medal in skateboarding in Tokyo. Harry Joseph Lennix III (born November 16, 1964) is an actor. He is known for his roles as Terrence "Dresser" Williams in The Five Heartbeats (1991) and as Boyd Langton in Dollhouse. He co-stars as Harold Cooper, assistant director of the FBI Counterterrorism Division on The Blacklist. He has played Calvin Swanwick / Martian Manhunter in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. The youngest of four siblings, he was born in Chicago to Lillian C., a laundress, and Harry Lennix Jr., a machinist. He attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary South and Northwestern University, where he majored in Acting and Direction. In his senior year at Northwestern, he was the coordinator of the African-American student organization, For Members Only. He starred in Keep the Faith, Baby (2002) as Rev. Adam Clayton Powell Jr.in Titus (1999), as Aaron the Moor; and as Commander in Chief. In the film, he has had supporting roles such as Comfortably Numb (1995), Get on the Bus (1996), Love & Basketball (2000), The Matrix series (1999–2004), Ray (2004), Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004), Stomp the Yard (2007), and State of Play (2009). In television, he had a recurring role in Diagnosis: Murder as Agent Ron Wagner as well as a voice-over role in the Legion of SuperHeroes. He had a recurring role in the sixth season of 24 as fictional Muslim civil rights activist Walid Al-Rezani. He appeared on the series House M.D. as a paralyzed jazz trumpet player, and in six episodes of ER as Dr. Greg Fischer. He appeared in the episode "The Blame Game" of the first season of Ally McBeal. He played President Barack Obama in the comedy sketch show Little Britain USA. In 2007, he was an official festival judge at the first annual Noor Iranian Film Festival. In July 2014, he formed his own production company Exponent Media Group along with long-time business partner Steve Harris. EMG had a distribution deal with NEHST studios for three of the company's titles Mr. Sophistication, H4, and Revival! If This Can Could Talk!

When pulling some films out of storage, we ran across this nondescript can. No label, just a bit of edge numbering (that doesn’t really look like any of our collections’ old numbering), and the can is pretty beaten up and corroded.

The film inside it was fine, but it’s what’s really inside the can that’s so special!

From c. 1948-1950, the names of students and their schools!

These could be the signatures of some “A/V boys” who handled showing educational films in classrooms, though there are a number of girls’ signatures. Back in the day when 16mm films were a regular feature of classrooms, there was usually one boy chosen by a teacher to retrieve the film projection cart from a storage room or the library, and pick up the film that would be shown on it in the classroom.  This doesn’t mean girls never got chosen to do that job, but it generally was a boy.

As the film was circulated to schools throughout the southeast, someone started signing and then everyone started doing it.  Let’s take a look at the names and places, some of which are a little hard to make out.

ever since she was a young girl, rosalie was complimented about her appearance. always the pretty girl, the delicate girl, the girl always at the center of attention. she grew with that mindset as well, and built a fantasy life in which the beautiful girl found herself a rich, loving husband, had children with him and lived happily ever after. she would have it all, be the most envied girl in all of chicago.

rose never left envious of anyone else’s life until she saw how happy her best friend was with the simple yet loving life she had. rose wanted that for herself, no matter the cost. she found a wealthy suitor at only eighteen and was sure she had met the man of her dreams. but things did not quite turn out how she had expected. rosalie’s fiancée was not the proper family man she had hoped. and she didn’t realize it until she was walking home one evening.

royce was an awful, despicable sample of a human. after he and his friends assaulted rosalie in the middle of the street, they left her for dead, bleeding on the ground. and for the first time in her short life, rosalie wished for death. but rather than getting what she wanted, a man took pity on her and saved her, giving her a second chance at life. after three days of the most excruciating pain she had ever felt, rosalie awoke with a new thirst; both for blood and vengeance. she got her revenge on the men who hurt her, making sure they suffered long and deeply before taking their lives.

while the original plan was for rosalie to be edward’s new mate, she had no attraction toward him and was quite enraged that he was not attracted to her either. only two years passed until rose found the person that would become her mate and partner in life. she rescued emmett from being mauled by a bear and took him to carlisle so he could save him by turning him into a vampire as well. since then, the two have been inseparable. emmett is her other half, the yin to her yang, the only person to ever truly understand and accept rose for all her flaws. he is the person who saved her, not physically but mentally and spiritually.

the return to forks was not her first choice, but rosalie followed the family nonetheless. she often moves away with emmett for long periods of time, but she agreed to once again go back to high school and college, to play the typical twenty-something year old human girl looking for fun new experiences! only this time around, a human threatened the safety of her family and got them involved with the volturi. one could say rosalie is not quite pleased with the situation or the one who caused all this mess.

TRIVIA.

although rosalie may seem frivolous and vain, she is quite intelligent and has attended several high schools and universities. she has degrees in electrical engineering, business, and astrophysics, and has also studied medicine to help carlisle when necessary.

rosalie is also extremely passionate about cars and has quite a collection that she keeps in pristine conditions.

she is the most difficult to conquer out of the coven, mostly due to her past trauma and general distrust in people. she especially dislikes everything and everyone that might pose a threat to her family, may it be the volturi or a dull human.
