Hello!
I don’t know if your matchup requests are still open and if not you can totally ignore this, but I was wondering if I could get a Lotr/The Hobbit matchup (preferably male).
A bit about myself:
Female / 5’7 / eneagram 6 / Gemini
My top two love languages are quality time and acts of service.
In my spare time, I love to read and write. It is a great passion of mine, and I hope to make something of it one day.  Sometimes I journal as well.
I love to be outside in nature because it allows me to unwind after a long day. I also really like going on walks while listening to music in the mornings.
I do have a horrible habit of getting so wound up in projects that I forget to rest both mentally and physically. Taking care of mental health has been the primary struggle, but I have gotten better at it over time.
I prefer to be kind to all I meet, but sometimes my desire for justice gets in the way.
I also really like watching people do an activity. Sitting in silence watching someone else do something they’re passionate about is very healing and cozy for me.
My personal aesthetic can be described as vintage-inspired; think long skirts and blouses. I love brighter colors such as pink and lavender, but I don’t mind darker tones on occasion, especially when the season calls for it.
Some other things that I like are sunsets/sunrises, animals of any kind,  warm beverages like coffee or tea, a clean space, collecting gemstones, candlelight, and soft blankets.
Things I dislike are bugs, getting rained on (I love the rain, don’t get me wrong, but the sensory experience of having rain fall on me is not ideal), large changes in plans, people talking too loudly, and just rude people in general.
Again, if your requests for matchups are not open, feel free to ignore this, but I thank you for taking the time to read this.
Have a wonderful/blessed day,
-Finn
Heck yeah! I opened them indefinitely since I wasn’t overwhelmed with them :))) your Middle-Earthly match is…

Our Boy Lindir :)
Returning to Rivendell on errand from Elrond, you are met with one of his most trusted confidants, another finely dressed brunette elf who greets you with a smile. “I wasn’t warned of any visitors,” he jokes, giving you a charming look, “who might you be?” “Finn, they call me,” you dismount and curtsy as your horse is taken away, “and I come for an exchange with Lord Elrond, if you please. If he is on business, I can-” “Stay, please,” the elf bids you with a sweep of his hand, “we hardly call ourselves the last homely house for nothing. If you can wait until after supper our lord shall be happy to make your audience.”
Easily you can, thus you are granted a room and a meal with the elves, where you are sat with none other than Elrond himself. Lindir, the elf who had greeted you, stands at his side, and you smile at him. Clear as it is that he is not partaking in the meal, you find yourself drawing him into the conversation once the discussion of your craft ends. The…servant perhaps? appears surprised to learn you are a collector and dealer of gemstones. “Don’t worry,” you tease him, “I don’t mine them myself too.” Supper goes well, your deal with Elrond for the gemstones he needed happily closed and yourself quite charmed, both by the fact Rivendell’s lord is making jewelry for his distant wife and by the gracious hosting of his servant.
Offering to walk you back to your room under claim of his home being quite the labyrinth, you ask Lindir how he finds his duties and what the most difficult part is. Simply put? Rude patrons. Your own distaste for the impertinent gets the better of you, and soon the pair of you are swapping stories outside your door. Laughing far louder than you’d have thought allowed in the great ornate settlement. Soon darkness overtakes the hall, however, and pressing a kiss to your hand, Lindir bids you a good night. It hardly escapes your notice the look of scandal across his own face, but in your kindness you choose not to address it.
Sunrise over the Valley of Imladris is one of the most majestic sights to ever pleasure your eyes; sipping the warm cup of tea another early riser shared with you, you glance beyond the spill of golden light to see Lindir making his way to set a harp near the tables. “Getting the players ready this early?” Shaking his head, he confesses the sunrise inspires him, inspires him so that he enjoys rising with the sun to compose songs. Lightning up, you carry your teacup over his way and share your own love of composition. Soon even the gorgeous sunrise fades as you are lost in song, melody overtaking your ears as Lindir sings a poem you’d penned on your travels. His passion is nearly palpable, flooding your heart with comfort and joy and all the same warmth of your invigorating tea. Passage of time utterly forgotten, your musical moment is only interrupted by Lord Elrond’s entrance and passing, quite amused, comment that you two are quite an unexpected gift, are you not?
Heat rushing to your face, you excuse yourself to attend to your jewelry-making. Once again, minutes or hours may have passed when a knock sounds at the door of your lent workspace. Stretching and wincing at the unpleasant pop, you stride across the room on shaky legs to open the door. Lindir! “I…I apologize, Finn, but we were rather concerned when we were told you hadn’t emerged again.” Raising the tray in his hands, one lain with a light meal and drink, he smiles. “We appreciate your work for Lady Celebrían, but please don’t forget to take care of yourself, too.” You could have kissed him then and there, but you waited a week until your departure, goodbye making the taste of his soft lips that much more bittersweet.
More and more frequently do your journeys take you back to Rivendell until the day comes that Lord Elrond himself appoints you his craftswoman…and winks as he inquires that you have more than just a home to return to now, do you not? He knows the trials of love between elves and mortals just as well as he knows it is a choice made freely.
Lindir honors that choice day after day, always appearing as if with prescience that you’ve thrown yourself into your work again. Sometimes you slip into sleep there in your space, awakening with your favorite blanket draped over your hunched form and a cheeky note inviting you for a morning stroll when you’re up for it.

A cool breeze wafted gently through the treetops, the rustle of the leafy canopies blending seamlessly with the chirp of crickets and the throaty growls of the frogs that called the various lakes and fountains home. The night sky looked spangled, the sparkling stars looking like diamonds that had been strewn about along a bed of inky black velvet.
Lindir cupped a hand about a thick white pillar candle, trying to shield it from the wind as he attempted to light it. It took several tries, but finally, the wick caught and held long enough for him to slip the glass cylinder over it to protect it from the wind. He set it on the low, white stone wall that ringed the small courtyard just off his chambers, where it joined nearly a dozen of its brethren, their small golden flames flickering every now and then, but their dance did not include bending to the wind or succumbing to it, thankfully.
His gut churned with a nervousness he’d not felt in what seemed like a lifetime. He could not recall the last time his stomach was in such knots, which was silly, really. You had been a couple for a while now, and saw one another on a daily basis. You’d shared a few kisses, but that was all.
Until this night.
He looked over at the large fleecy blanket spread out across the lush green grass. A bottle of wine chilled in an ice bucket to the side. Two goblets stood beside said bucket, just waiting to be filled. He’d set out the candles.
Now, he waited.
Then, he heard your steps on the grass and smiled even as his heart sped up. Even as his mouth went drier than it had ever been. Even as those knots instead became butterflies and without even seeing you yet, his blood seemed to rush warmer through his veins.
“Oh, how lovely.”
His heart skipped a beat as you came into the courtyard by way of the gate. The moonlight shone silver upon you and he knew he’d never seen anyone as beautiful as you were right then. “I thought the candles might be a bit too much. Are they?”
You shook your head. “Not at all.”
You crossed over to where he stood, stopping before him to smile. “I think they look lovely.”
“Good. I was a bit… nervous. I should hate to have to explain to Lord Elrond how and why I burned down the whole of Rivendell.”
“What would you tell him?”
He reached for you, catching your hand in his, and drew you into his arms. “I’d blame you.”
“He would never believe it.”
“Never say never. I can be quite convincing when need be.”
You gazed up at him. “I’m a bit nervous, I confess.”
“You needn’t be,” he assured you. “But, if you’d rather not tonight, we can always—”
“No, I didn't say that,” you were quick to reply. “I am just being silly.”
“Would it help if I was to ask for your hand first?” A hint of teasing wound into his smooth, low voice. “That way you’d know I am not going to disappear on you come sunrise.”
“Lindir! What a thing to say. Do you think that is what I’m thinking?”
“I hope not. But, just in case. Will you marry me?”
“You know the answer is yes.”
“Very well. Now you have no reason to fear, my darling. You have said yes and you are not forever stuck with me.”
“Oh, no,” you replied dryly, trying, but failing, to look utterly serious, “I have made a terrible mistake.”
“Liar.” He leaned in to sweep your lips with his. He’d meant it to be but a gentle, innocent kiss, but the moment he felt your soft lips against his, he had no choice but to press his a bit harder to yours.
You melted against him, parting your lips and he released a hand to slip his arm about your waist, pulling you flush against him. Your firm breasts pressed against his chest, heating his blood as it slowly changed course in his veins, tightening every fiber, every sinew and tendon, as he responded to just that pressure.
You wound your arms about his neck, welcoming the silken soft stroke of his tongue along yours. His kiss deepened, and when you traced your fingernails lightly along the back of his neck, he shivered against you and sighed heavily into your mouth.
He could resist temptation no longer, the hand he’d splayed across your back sliding down to curve against your backside. He cupped a cheek, pulled you firmly against him, and it was your turn to sigh as that telltale bulge of his erection ground into you to create an altogether new and delicious ache deep inside.
His hand slid up, the other one joining it at your shoulders, where his nimble fingers made quick work of the row of tiny buttons that trailed from the neckline of your gown almost to the small of your back. The fabric parted, the cool breeze skittering across your bare skin as he skimmed his hands outward and the material poured from you to pool at your feet.
You stood naked before him and he almost moaned aloud at the sight—at the high, proud breasts with their already-beading nipples, the curve of your waist and the slope of your hips. Just the sight of you was enough to make his blood scorch through his veins as it flowed south now, his manhood responding to give him away, should you lower your gaze.
But you didn’t. You held his and that served only to fire his lust further. Without shyness or hesitation, he let his gaze roam over you and smiled as he murmured, “You are so beautiful, my love.”
“Thank you,” you whispered back, and then you caught your bottom lip between your teeth when he reached out to cup your left breast. He was so gentle, his fingers dancing along the delicate skin, his thumb slipping lightly about your nipple, which tightened even further beneath his touch.
His fingers tightened about that breast, kneaded it gently, and then leaned in to sweep his lips down along your neck. You tilted your head to the side to allow easier access, and his kisses came softly hot against your increasingly sensitive skin. He punctuated each kiss with a teasing nip, and soothed that with a flick of his tongue.
His thumb slipped about your nipple again, then caught it between thumb and forefinger to roll until you gasped. It was amazing to see how tight it beaded beneath his touch, how you responded when he gave a gentle tug, and when he leaned over to take it in his mouth? You shoved a hand into his hair, twisted your fingers into the length, and gave a tug that sent a sharp zing across his scalp. But that only heightened his arousal for you, only made him want to explore you further, to see what else would make you pull his hair and arch hard against him.
He took his time, let his lips caress each delectable inch of you as slowly as he could, which was no easy feat, as the very sight of you, the scent of you, the feel of you—warm and soft—against him was enough to drive him mad with desire. But, he wanted you to feel that same fairy desire, wanted you to ache for him the way he did for you. This was not only your first time with him, but your first time ever, and he wanted it to be as magical for you as he could make it.
He caught you in his arms, maneuvered you onto the soft blanket, and came over you gently. His lips found yours, his kiss hot and teasing and slow and he fought back a sigh as your lips parted and he slid his tongue along yours again. You tasted of sweet strawberries and he took his time exploring your mouth, drawing your tongue back into his own to savor that heady sweetness for himself.
He swept his lips down over your chin, down the front of your neck, which bowed as he caressed the sensitive flesh. He continued down, moving slowly along you body, kissing his way along your creamy soft skin, burnished ivory in the candlelight, his lips smoking a path along the inner curve of the breast he’d been teasing. With each sigh that wafted to your lips, each hitch of your breath, he grew bolder. Your body fascinated him, so soft and curvy, and as he kissed his way down, he sank to his knees before you. A hint of wildflowers and musk floated up to tease his senses. Your scent. Yours and yours alone.
“My love,” he breathed, drawing back to gaze down at you, at the way your hair glinted in the moonlight, fanned out beneath you. Your eyes were heavy-lidded and sensual, your lips full and pouty from his kisses. “You have no idea how often I’ve envisioned this moment.”
“Do tell,” you whispered, your lashes fluttering against the pale expanse of your cheeks.
“I’ve dreamed of it. Of you. Lying just as you are now, bathed in silvery moonlight, a temptress amongst women.”
Heat crept into your cheeks even as you smiled. “You do have a golden tongue, my love, know you this?”
“I speak only the truth,” he whispered, letting his fingers trail lightly along the rise of your left breast. You sucked in a sharp breath, and he repeated the motion, smiling as he held your gaze even as he cupped your breast, slid his thumb harder about that aching bead, then worked down along the curve of your waist, over the rise of your hip. Each caress left you more languid than the one before it. Each one had you pressing your thighs together because the sensations offered up a hint of relief from the maddening tightness of arousal. You wanted to grab his hand, to guide it to that ache between your legs, but hesitated. What if he thought you wanton for aching to be touched there? What if he found you too brazen for wanting that arousal sated?
So, you bit down on your bottom lip as he continued his leisurely exploration of your body, as he moved slowly down along your thigh, over the back of it, to that sensitives patch just behind your knee. You couldn't help your sigh, which made him smile and switch direction, now skimming long the back of your calf. Up toward your backside. Over the rise of that cheek. Back down. You shivered against him, which spurred him on even further. As he drew closer to those curls at the apex of your thighs, he looked up and whispered, “I love you.”
You smiled, a hand curving against his cheek as you murmured back, “I love you, too.”
He winked then, and moved lower, his lips following in the path of his fingers—thigh, knee, calf—each kiss followed by a hot, teasing swirl of his tongue.
He moved over your thigh and you bit down harder on your lip now. You ached with wanting him, the achy tightness between your legs growing damper with each caress. Everything inside you hummed with the need for him to quench the fires he sparked to life.
Your soft mewl didn't pass unnoticed and it took every bit of will he had to keep moving slowly. He felt your dampness. The scent of your arousal grew stronger still, as if trying to guide him to where you wanted him to be.
He followed that guide, leaning in to graze your inner thigh with a teasing kiss. Your legs parted of their own and he almost signed at the heavy musky scent that filled his nose. Wildflowers. Honey. The most enticing of perfumes greeted him, welcomed him.
Lured him in.
He bent to you, his nose brushing the damp curls between your thighs. Fire swirled through him at the soft gasp that reached his ears when he slipped a fingertip into that wet heat. Slick. Hot. Enticing. He ached for a taste and so bent to you to slip the tip of his tongue into your folds, tracing along the curve of that satiny bead nestled within them. Your hand sank into his hair, spurring him on, encouraging him to caress you slowly, increasing the pressure against you as you sighed and moaned beneath him.
Your hips moved with him, and he responded by flicking the tip of his tongue over that silken pearl, and when you grew wetter still, he let his fingers slip through that slick, stroking toward your opening. You moaned softly again as he eased his finger inside you, teasing you, caressing you inside and out, as you quivered around him. You thrust your fingers into his hair once more, twisting even harder now, your hips rolling slowly toward him to meet each caress. He was in no hurry, savoring every moan that bubbled to your lips, every drop of arousal that clung to his tongue, and he knew you grew close to your release in the way you moved with him.
“Lindir…” Your breathless whisper rose into the gilded darkness. You trembled against him, your fingers twisting harder now, your breath rapid as you arched to meet each slow, teasing thrust of his tongue. He laved along that delicate pearl, gentle at first, but as you whispered “Yes…” he licked harder. Faster. He slipped his fingers into your slick, and when he found what he sought, he slid a finger inside you and smiled as you tightened around it. You sank against him as he continued his onslaught, stroking until he found that small swelling along your front wall and teased it as you pulsed around him.
“Lindir!” You shattered, your release as sweet as your arousal and he was relentless in his caresses as you throbbed around him, trembling and pleading with him to not stop. As if he would. Your cries of pleasure were the sweetest music to his ears and while he ached to find his own relief, he was in no hurry to end yours, either.
He slipped his finger free as you stilled against him and when you sank to your knees to meet his gaze, you whispered, “My turn,” and offered up a smile that turned his knees to jelly.
A hand pressed into his chest urged him onto his back on the soft blanket and he smiled as you straddled his hips and caught his hands in yours before pinning them to the blanket on either side of his head.
Your lips claimed his and as you deepened your kiss, you slid your hands free to catch his tunic by its hem. You shoved upwards, breaking the kiss only long enough to whisk it over his head and then, when you came flush against him, he couldn’t hold back his moan. Your breasts, with those rosy beaded nipples, pressed into his skin, made the ache twisting his insides even worse. Your heat beckoned him, his hips rising to meet it, the pressure offering a bit of relief, but not nearly enough.
His eyes closed as you moved down along him, trailing kisses over the smooth, warm skin his bared chest, and when you swirled your tongue along his left nipple, it was almost his undoing. He had no idea how sensitive his own were until then, and his entire body ached with the need to be inside yours, to feel that wet heat tight about him.
Your hair spilled across his chest, warm and silken, and he buried his hands in it, let the gossamer strands caress him as you did. His head spun from the slow, teasing kisses you rained down over his belly, to the waist of his trousers.
Then you looked up and smiled as you unfastened them. As you gripped them. As you tugged them down and he sprang free from them, hard and proud and begging for your attention.
Your name rose to his lips as you bent over and your lips closed about him. Your tongue moved slowly up from his base to his tip, your lips teased where your tongue did not, and when you gave a gentle pull…
He twisted his fingers in your hair as ever fiber in his body tensed, as the need for release tightened about him like a powerful fist, squeezing and pulsing with each stroke, with each teasing pull. White lights danced before him, and when you traced your fingernails along his sides? His moan rose like a mist into the air. His hips rose to meet each caress. The ache inside him grew stronger and more demanding and he had to force his eyes open as he gazed up at you. “Please… I need you…”
You pulled away, a look of utter satisfaction on your face as you whispered, “Need me for what?”
He smiled. “I think you know, love.”
He came up then, his lips seizing yours, his chest pressing into yours to urge you onto your back once more and as you obliged, your legs parted to let his hips settle between them.
You felt the silken steel of his erect member slip into your folds, slide along your aching, overly sensitive flesh, and you shivered beneath him as he moaned above you. You teetered on the precipice. There was no going back now.
He caught your lips in a lingering kiss and you felt the gentle probe as he positioned himself. You were so tight about him, the resistance greater than he’d thought it would be. He drew in a deep breath and thrust, and you cried out at the brief sting of his breeching you. Then he went still, and you whispered, “What is it?”
“I love you,” he whispered back, then began moving inside you, each thrust slow and controlled, and little by little, the stinging ebbed and only pleasure remained.
And what pleasure it was! It swelled within you both, fiery and hot and sweet, and with each thrust, that pleasure grew. It engulfed both of you, driving you both closer to the edge of madness.
Your heat fed his. His fed yours. He surged harder now, tensing as his climax took root. It began in the soles of his feet and worked its way up like a rolling wave of thunder, and all he saw was you, your eyes sparkling, your cheeks flushed. You were close. He felt it in the way you tightened about him, the way you pulled him deeper still and throbbed around him once more.
Everything inside him tightened. Twisted. Threatened to drive him insane as his climax bore down upon him. He couldn’t put it off, had no choice but to surrender to the inevitable as you squeezed him with a powerful rhythm and your fingernails dug into his chest. You tensed about him.
He twisted his fists into the blanket beneath you, arched hard, and climaxed with a blazing fury that had him moaning and shuddering above you, that had him going rigid from the force of spilling hard inside you and you eagerly accepted it, pulsing and throbbing around him. You clung to him, your fingernails digging deep into his back. Your surrender met his and as he sank against you, you wrapped him in your arms as if you would never let him go.
You fought for breath, as did he, and you held him as he trembled against you. Smoothing his hair away from his temple, you murmured, “I do love you.”
“Oh, I love you, too…”
“I think we should do this again.”
You smiled as he lifted his head to stare at you incredulously. “Already?”
“Well, perhaps we should wait a few minutes,” you amended. “At least my head clears. I might faint otherwise.”
“Probably a wise idea.”
“I thought so.” You tightened your arms about him, and it all just felt so perfect, so right. You were where you belonged and you were not about to let him go. Not ever, if possible. No moment had ever been so perfect, as the one you shared with him in the moonlight on the most romantic night of your life.

🍃Masterlist🍃 Female Half-Elf, Half-Human MC!
A/n: ✨Angst!✨ ✨Angst!✨ ✨Aaaaangst!✨ Happy New Year, guys! I was told I had to post something before 2024, so how does 20 minutes before 2024 sound? I was supposed to post it earlier, but yesterday I was crying over angsty pseudo-relationship stuff and today I had a migraine and just woke up an hour ago. ANYWAY, last fic of the year! I also hesitated to breathe, because shortly after I got this request, I got an emotional lashing for touching Rings of Power without permission? And anyway, Lindir’s sensitive, don’t yell at us. 🥺 mAn, Lindir's gonna make me cry again.
–Word Count: 5,443–
The light, melodious sound of an elven maiden’s voice danced around him, drawing his feet to a standstill. From an above balcony, he watched the scene in awe. How was it possible to have hair that reflected the light of the moon, quite nearly making it look as though your hair was made of starlight itself?
Lindir’s heart melted at your beauty. Not a single elf in all of Middle Earth could hold a candle to you. He counted his blessings that your magnificence was created in Rivendell, a progeny of Lord Elrond himself; a beautiful elf you were, regardless of your half-human descendance. He had the pleasure of knowing you your whole life, something only the most fortunate elf could brag about. Still, some good it did him, when he never had the chance to tell you how he truly felt about you…
Maybe… just maybe… tonight could be that night. You were humming a delightful tune, standing on the edge of a platform, admiring the waterfalls that stretched up the side of the mountain; the shimmering silver water serving as a backdrop, complimenting your dress. If there were a better time to speak up, he was sure now was it, when his heart was fluttering and his urge to have you in his arms was strongest.
With his courage secured, he made move to descend the stairs to meet you. If only fortune were on his side. An elf maiden called out, “Lindir, Lord Elrond wishes to speak with you.”
His eyes shifted to the maiden who called him. “I’ll be there in a moment,” Lindir replied, masking how flustered he felt on the inside for missing yet another opportunity—for foolishly believing he could accomplish something so far out of his reach. Still, as he was left once again to his own devices, his helplessly longing gaze returned to you for a brief moment. You had such a bad habit of wrapping him around your finger, even when you’d done nothing at all.
Sighing, he turned on his heel. Tonight would not be the night, he lamented as he left to tend to his duties.
***
The rain was pattering lightly on the window, but yet, the sun still streamed through the clouds, making for an oddly beautiful sight. Rainbows were fairly common thanks to the waterfalls in Rivendell, but the large rainbows that stretched across the sky were another sight to behold.
Eagerly, you made your way down the hall and to the library. Peering inside, your reason for coming all this way wasn't easily found. Tilting your head, you entered, your eyes scanning the space before the quiet shuffling of paper caught your ear. Following the sound, you spotted Lindir hidden between the bookshelves, a book in his slender hands. His eyebrows were furrowed in concentration and for a brief moment, you debated on your choice of bothering him.
But a soft sigh left his lips, and he left you startled as he addressed you, “Is there something you require, my lady?” He didn't even look up to see you; how could he tell it was you? “Your steps are always soft and easy to recognize,” he said, as though hearing your internal dialogue.
“Well,” you smiled at him, brushing off his quirky way of recognizing you. “I was wondering if you wanted to go on a walk with me?”
This time his head lifted from his book, glancing at you before his gaze flickered to a window. “It's raining out.”
“Haven't you ever wanted to walk in the rain? It's nice and sunny and there's a rainbow outside,” you tried to make it sound as enticing as possible. You didn’t care if it was raining, you just wanted to spend time with him.
As much as he wanted to see you enjoying yourself in the warm rain, he sighed, returning his book to the shelf before grabbing another one to flicker through as he offhandedly answered, “Lord Elrond would not approve if you were to catch cold.” He knew your half-human side was fragile, and he wanted to protect you as best as he could.
“We don't have to tell him,” you pouted. There’s no way he’d reject you so easily. “It'd only be for a few minutes. Please, come with me, Lindir?”
He resisted the urge to groan. Why must you say his name in that manner? You made it so difficult for him to tell you no. Regardless, he didn't have time to be entertaining you, and his heart ached. How many times this month has he had to reject you because he was busy?
For the umpteenth time this month, he declined, “Unfortunately, I have more work from Lord Elrond that needs completing. You are aware that King Thranduil is paying a visit to Rivendell just next week, aren't you? I pray you haven't forgotten.”
“I haven't forgotten,” you swiftly defended yourself despite, indeed, having forgotten the date. The look Lindir shot your way told you of the grave importance of this meeting. This reminder gave you an idea… “Can I help with the preparations?”
“I…” Lindir faltered at your offer, before he sighed again, replying, “That isn't up to me to decide. Though I should say not, with how you'd forgotten the event despite my already having told you earlier this week.”
“Well, then,” you said quite confidently, “I'll just have to ask!”
Though, asking your father only ended up the same way it always ended… with him explaining that you had your own preparations to attend to. You still needed to get a dress for the occasion.
You should have been familiar with not being able to help Lindir, not being able to be around him for more than five minutes, or simply not being able to see him for extended periods. You weren't sure what happened after you both got older… It wasn't like you lived in separate worlds where you never got to see one another. Since when… did he neglect your feelings for his ‘righteous duty’ and ‘responsibilities’? Not that you could blame him… he served your father, Elrond, of all people, and you knew he was a busy elf Lord. You suppose you’d just have to be patient and wait for Lindir to come to you on his own time, when he wasn’t busy, and when he wanted to see you… if he wanted to see you.
***
Lindir felt like he had gone over this list a dozen times, making minor changes each time he set eyes on it. But this was the final look-over and there could be no mistakes. King Thranduil was not one to overlook mistakes, and Lindir would surely suffer an earful if Lord Elrond were to hear but a single complaint from the King of the Woodland Realm. Sighing, he rubbed his forehead. When had things gotten so stressful?
A heavy sigh filled the air, though, to Lindir’s surprise, it wasn’t his own. His eyes flickered around the room, but no one seemed particularly bothered enough to let out such an aggrieved sigh. Peering out of the open window, he found the source of the sigh. You were sitting on a nearby bench, a notebook in hand.
At first, he thought he might have been mistaken about the source, until another sigh left your lips. His heart ached at the thought that you could have been upset over something. But then… why couldn’t you have simply asked someone for help rather than stewing alone in silence?
He was tempted to spare time to go out and console you himself, but again, he was interrupted from his concerns. An elf called for his attention, “Lindir, I’m not sure that this is going to be ready in time for their arrival.”
Lindir’s eyes swiftly shot to the elf at attention. “That’s not sufficient. If any hands can be spared, do so. We’ll not still be setting up when they arrive. We don’t want to look unprepared for their presence. I’ll look into it myself.” Pausing before leaving the room, he thoughtfully added, “If there is a spare moment, can someone check on Lady (Name)? I…” He didn’t want to admit to fretting over you like a worried mother. So, he excused, “I need to ensure she’s prepared for tomorrow.” This time, an aggrieved sigh did leave his lips as he left the room in a hurry.
***
Pattering of feet and clinking of dishes echoed through the halls, the air buzzing with both excitement and apprehension. Oddly, you felt neither of those things. It wasn’t in your interest to impress a friend of your father—if friend was what Thranduil was.
Sighing, you watched the flurry of excitement; elves rushed this way and that to make sure everything was perfect for King Thranduil’s arrival. You understood what all the fuss was about, of course, but everything looked good to your eyes. You didn’t understand what they were fretting over; they’d been at this all morning.
Perhaps you were disinterest in their hard work was because your eyes had been glued to one specific elf since you’d entered the courtyard. Lindir looked to be beyond himself with worry as he tried to make sure everything was set according to plan. At most, they had maybe an hour before everything needed to be finalized. Though, each time you set eyes on Lindir, it seemed like he vanished into thin air the moment something crossed your path, and you lost sight of him.
Your attempts to even speak with him were in vain, as he eluded you each time—though you were sure it wasn’t on purpose. He, as always, had his duties to attend to. You couldn’t blame him when the success or failure of this festival rested on his shoulders. You could only pray in your heart that when the sun had finally set and the music rang through the halls that he would be able to relax and enjoy the festival of starlight. Lindir deserved to enjoy the evening along with the rest of Rivendell and those from the Woodland Realm who accompanied Thranduil. Maybe… Just maybe, then you’d be able to have a moment with him.
Accepting the fact that you were never going to be able to catch Lindir at this rate, you resigned to joining your father and sister, waiting for the arrival of the elves of Mirkwood.
Arwen glanced at you from the corner of her eye before vaguely asking, “Any word?”
You shot her a look that told her to hold her tongue in the presence of your father. “Not a single one, and I’d rather not have a word from you either.”
Elrond looked back at the two of you, his gaze studious as he glanced between you. Slowly, he commented, “Your tongue is rather sharp this evening.” Of course, it was his off-handed way of asking you to open up. You wanted to glare at Arwen for making Elrond take interest in your conversation. The last thing you wanted was for him to stick his nose in your business—your business being your little crush on his seemingly unremarkable advisor.
Luckily, Arwen was there to save you an explanation as she smoothly excused, “She must be feeling the stress of the others. It’s not often we host the King of the Woodland Realm for an occasion such as a festival of starlight.”
“Indeed,” Elrond’s eyes stayed trained on you before he turned his head with a nod. “The King hardly leaves his halls. I feel this will be a festival worth remembering.” And you had to agree with that statement—at least, you hoped so.
Though, as you had expected, it was only a matter of time before Lindir had to join the three of you. Welcoming Thranduil into Rivendell was upon the most important things to be done, and Elrond’s advisor had to be there for courteous purposes.
Lindir, however, paused upon approach, his gaze lingering on you the minute you both locked eyes. His lips had opened as if to say something, but no words came out immediately. He said nothing until he caught the eyes of both your father and sister, to which he shyly complimented, “You're both beautiful, my ladies.” Of course, complimenting you and Arwen was his best move, as opposed to his continued staring.
As he quickly joined Elrond’s side, Arwen shot you a suggestive look in regard to Lindir. Waving her off, you tried not to pay much mind to how close you and Lindir were standing to one another. There was no time for that… If anything, you only had to hope that he would spare you a moment of his time at the festival. But here and now you couldn’t carelessly be sparing glances to Lindir when you were going to be greeting a King.
It was supposed to be an official greeting from one noble to another… However, as soon as the party of elves arrived with King Thranduil, your eyes glittered at seeing another life-long friend of yours at the King’s side. He seemed to get equally excited upon seeing you as well. “(Name)!”
“Legolas!” Now, he wasn't someone you thought you were going to be seeing. Or maybe… he slipped your mind while you were busy placing your attention on the unattainable Lindir…
But the minute Legolas had you in a tight embrace, you forgot about your unrequited love. For the moment, all you wanted to do was catch up with an old friend—even if it disrupted the sophisticated atmosphere of a King entering Rivendell.
***
Lindir would have sagged his shoulders in relief if he weren't trying to maintain a decent image—it didn't matter so much that Lord Elrond praised his good work and gave him permission to enjoy the festival. It was difficult to enjoy himself when… you weren't beside him.
He'd been working hard this whole time with the hopes that tonight might have been the night he told you how he felt…
His hard work paid off… only for you to spend a great deal of time hanging off of Prince Legolas’ arm. Lindir supposed he should accept fate as it was: Legolas was a noble, someone who could make you a queen one day. You deserve the best, and Lindir was far from the best.
Taking his failure to heart and not having the spirit to hang around the festival, he took a walk through the lightly illuminated paths of Rivendell. It was a familiar path… One that you and he used to walk together often. Just down the path, he walked, seeking the lonely courtyard that sat hidden behind a beautiful range of waterfalls.
Though, upon turning a corner, he quickly had to backtrack, concealing himself beside the shadow of a pillar. Just ahead, there was a couple that was barely noticeable in the dim lighting.
On the verge of turning around and leaving them in peace, Lindir paused, your voice catching his ears.
It was then that he noticed the pair was none other than you and Legolas. He knew he shouldn't have been intruding on the private moment, but he couldn't bring himself to turn away, especially with what he overheard Legolas saying, “You know… I have to agree. For as long as we’ve known each other, we’re compatible. I wouldn’t want you to think I’m asking for your hand in marriage insincerely. Still, I value your opinion and your desires above all else. Would you at least consider…?”
“Legolas…” You whispered his name. Lindir could only watch silently as you wrapped your arms around Legolas’ neck and that… that’s what told Lindir this dance was over… It was time for him to let go of his loss. He could only stare for another heart-wrenching moment as the two of you embraced, sharing hushed words as if you were already a married couple.
Turning once again, Lindir made a swift retreat. This entire event made sense now. The reason Lord Elrond placed much of his time and effort into making sure it was impeccably arranged… was because it was to be the night of your engagement. Lord Elrond must have previously come to this agreement with King Thranduil, meaning that you couldn’t refuse, even if you wanted to. Though, logically, Lindir knew you wouldn’t reject Prince Legolas.
Lindir walked down the path, making his way back to the lively festival. This path that was so familiar to him suddenly turned into something that made his heart ache. Fond memories of you that swirled around in his head were like shards of glass made to pierce his heart.
But… he only had himself to blame. If he hadn’t neglected you all this time, then perhaps… perhaps you would have looked at him.
No. He had no chance. Legolas had always been more deserving of your affection, however sparse the woodland prince was in your life. At least the young prince could eagerly sweep you off of your feet, unlike Lindir, who only seemed capable of disappointing you as of late.
Besides, your marriage would only strengthen the bond between Mirkwood and Rivendell, undoubtably. There were only good things that could come from this union. There were a million ways Lindir could justify how right it was for you to be with Legolas, but none of it seemed to stop the agony that assailed his heart.
Lord Elrond was correct… This festival was, indeed, an unforgettable one…
Inhaling softly, Lindir came to a decision. This was fine—all of it. There was nothing more for him to do regarding your well-being now that you were in Legolas’ capable hands. Lindir would just begin preparing for the aftermath of the festival. At the very lease, he still had a job to complete, and he couldn’t disappoint Lord Elrond because he was heart sick, of all things.
***
Fortunately for you… Legolas happened to be very understanding of your position when you explained to him why you couldn’t agree to this arranged marriage. In a marriage, as the two of you came to coincide, there was love to be expected—and not forced love either.
Now, it wasn’t that the two of you were unable to love each other; you were sure you would get along just fine if it really came down to the two of you getting married. However, Legolas understood completely that you were simply in love with someone else. Your heart raced for another who was not Legolas, and so long as it was in his power, he was going to help you express these repressed feelings.
Coming to such an agreement, Legolas wasted no time in helping you search for your missing love: Lindir.
With no luck between the two of you, though you were loath to address your all-knowing sibling, you knew she would possibly be able to help. Considering she had been present at the festival all night, you were sure she was the perfect person to go to in regard to finding Lindir.
Luckily, you made just the right call. “Then you’ve finally come to terms with your feelings…” Arwen displayed a soft smile, agreeing to help. However, she didn’t seem to need your help for this part, as she ushered, “Stay, enjoy the festival. Grab a drink with Legolas.” She gestured for you to return to your waiting friend. “I’ll return shortly with all the answers you hope to find.”
“Arwen…” You almost deflated in front of her, quite nearly put-off with how she was ushering you back to Legolas. But… you knew she was being genuine, and you couldn’t help but smile slightly in return as Arwen walked off, leaving you alone once again. “Thank you.”
Your sister simply smiled in return to your earnest response before leaving you alone once again.
Only, when you returned to the festival per Arwen’s previous ushering, you failed to find Legolas. It wasn’t odd that you couldn’t find him in such a crowded scene, but even the nearby elves couldn’t give you answers as to where your friend disappeared to.
In any case, you were sure Arwen would be quick in her task, and Legolas was probably still off on his noble search for Lindir. At this rate, you felt like everyone was searching for Lindir but you… And while Arwen told you to remain at the festival and enjoy yourself, that was turning out to be a rather difficult and tedious task.
Besides, now that you were alone with your scrambled thoughts, you were feeling the pressure of reality. Arwen and Legolas were searching for Lindir for you… so you could convey your deepest feelings for him. You were sure he would refuse your feelings, simply because he already owed you that loyalty as a servant of Rivendell. Not to mention, he wasn’t the sort to conceal his true feelings very well; to put it simply, he was horrible at it.
The one time dwarves were in Rivendell, he had enough trouble hiding his disdain for them. You were sure this would be no different. He always had to tolerate you because you were Elrond’s daughter. Who was to say he wouldn’t consider it entirely unprofessional? There were a ton of excuses you could think up as to why Lindir might reject you.
All you could do was wait for the time to come. And so you waited quietly by a fountain, brushing your fingers across the silver surface, reflecting the light of the stars above.
***
Lindir’s heart was racing uncomfortably. He was informed by Arwen that you were in trouble and needed his help immediately. Despite not being able to answer why she couldn’t be of any help to you—why did it have to be him?—Lindir was quick to rush down the familiar walk ways to return to the festival.
He wasn’t sure what the issue was that required his attention so direly, but he understood upon seeing you alone… so melancholic—you were like an angel of starlight in his eyes once again, your beauty unfailing.
For a brief moment, he wondered where Legolas was… only to have the thought that perhaps things had not worked out as the two of you had hoped. Now, his heart did not ache because of you… but for you.
Quietly, he weaved his way through the festive elves, coming up beside you. You still hadn’t acknowledged him, so, he quietly addressed you, “My Lady… What brings you such sorrow on such a joyous evening?”
“Lindir…” Your eyes were quick to flicker to him, and for a moment, your sorrows were all but forgotten. Being in his presence was enough to make you forget yourself. All seemed well in your world until it came time for you to answer his question. This time… you had to be honest. Though, your words were shaky and unsure. “I- I only…”
Lindir was unused to you being so demure and bothered. You were usually more certain of yourself and intent on bothering him at the worst of times. This wasn’t like you.
For the second time since finding you, he wondered if he truly was the right person to be beside you, solving your still-unspoken problem. Was this not supposed to be the job of your betrothed? He let out a soft breath. “I… do not mean to pry. But does this have to do with Legolas? You’ve been with him all evening, up until now.” He tilted his head as if teasing you to try to lighten the mood. “Has my lady gotten lost in her own home?”
You couldn’t help but let out an amused huff—he had at least succeeded in making you smile somewhat. “It wasn’t that I lost Legolas,” you admitted, your cheeks burning as you dared yourself to continue your sentence, “I lost you, Lindir.”
Lindir was surprised to hear you say that. His eyes were wide before he dared to ask, “Were you searching for me, my Lady…?” He was hesitant to join you as you gestured for him to sit beside you on the fountain’s edge, but he couldn’t say no to you when you so clearly wanted this.
“I searched everywhere… but it was like you vanished entirely. I feel like that’s been happening more as of late.” Though your cheeks revealed how flustered you were, your eyes shone with despair. Lindir wanted nothing more than to rid you of any ailments, so that he could only see that joyous glimmer in your eyes. But… was it his fault you were in this state? He didn’t have an answer until you continued, “Each time you disappear from sight, my chest feels heavy, and I get terrified that I’ll never see you again.”
“I’m here,” he said reassuringly, though, he wasn’t entirely sure what to say to the betrothed of a prince. There were only so many ways he could comfort you and hope to remain on Legolas’ good side. Still, this was starting to sound more like a personal jab. Had he truly been so neglectful? “(Name)...” For once, he dropped the honorifics, and you felt your heart skip as his hand gently laid on top of yours. “I’m here now. Tell me, what’s on your mind?”
He was gazing at you earnestly. He genuinely wanted to know what was bothering you and if it was within his ability to fix. But he was surprised when you uncharacteristically, and very bluntly, asked, “Why are you always too busy for me?”
The question took him off guard. There was a completely logical answer to the question, though… if he was being honest, he was too flustered to admit it outright. Hesitantly, however, he did tell you the truth, “I have kept myself busy and have done my work diligently, all with the hopes that I would have personal time to spend with you.” He averted his gaze, having more to add, but certain it was an inappropriate time to mention it. Still, your eyes implored him to speak more of his secrets, and he loathed your prying gaze. “I had hoped to have done a well enough job that I would have free time to spend with you at this festival.”
And just like that, he admitted his failed plan of the night; he genuinely did want to spend time with you. While he expected his explanation to be one-sided, you were astonishingly quick at admitting a secret of your own, “I wanted to spend time with you too, Lindir, but you were always so busy for my father. Even before this festival,” you thought to add that last part. “I like you, Lindir, and I’m so…” You trailed off, struggling to find a word to describe your feelings—something Lindir always thought was endearing about you. “I’m so miffed with you!”
“I understand,” he replied slowly, albeit surprised. He couldn’t hide the hesitation in his tone—he was confused. More than confused, his heart was in more pain than ever. “My Lady—” Yet again, he was putting emotional distance between the two of you. “—what of Prince Legolas? The covenant is already arranged; there is no getting out of it.”
“Well,” you spoke coyly, telling Lindir that you knew more than he did. “Legolas and I were talking about that earlier. He was the one who wanted to help me find you in the first place because… well… he agrees with me that we simply weren’t ready for marriage in the first place.”
Lindir hated that you were suddenly being so straightforward with him. Well, he hated it just about as much as he loved it. He could hardly hide his pink cheeks as he made a quick excuse, “(Name), think of the thought that must have gone into this by your father and King Thranduil. It’s not often King Thranduil leaves his kingdom, which means this night was of great importance. I can think of no other reason than that this night was clearly strictly for you and Prince Legolas. This is no time for-”
“I don’t think any of their opinions matter as far as loving someone else is concerned,” you suddenly interrupted him, causing a thick silence to fill the air.
Lindir was left flustered by your bold statement, and couldn’t muster a single thought other than that… you loved him. You said it. It was the first time he heard you say it, though it was ever so slightly indirect, he knew it was directed at him. Still, he wouldn’t jump to conclusions, though he knew all fingers were pointed at one solid conclusion that he’d been ignoring. He patiently asked, “Is this what’s been bothering you today?”
“It’s been bothering me,” you pouted, making him avert his gaze in guilt. You didn’t seem like you were letting him off easy tonight as you accused, “You’ve been ignoring me.”
“I apologize for that…” He paused after his reluctant apology. He knew he was in the wrong, but there was still a lot to be discussed. There were so many unspoken feelings, and so many obstacles that came as a result of these feelings if they were to be addressed appropriately. After a guilt filled moment, he finally spoke again, “Are you certain this is how you feel?”
You unwaveringly nodded, dissuading his doubts with a firm “Yes.”
“Then…” Lindir sighed, finally giving into his overwhelming feelings. “I should admit, in return, that I love you as well.” For once, he shared everything with you, knowing you deserved to know the truth behind his seemingly cruel actions. “The reason for my neglect would partially be because of my duties, but also because you deserve someone better. I… may have been… jealous… over Legolas proposing to you with his arranged marriage, but in the end, I had the thought that you would be better off with a prince.”
You nodded, seemingly understanding what he was saying. He felt relieved that you didn’t think he was intentionally trying to hurt you. “The only thing…” you started softly, “is that I don’t love Legolas like that—not when you have my heart.”
“That…” Lindir faltered, an uncharacteristic move for him. For once, he was speechless. “That wasn’t how this was supposed to go.”
You tilted your head in confusion. “Huh?”
He huffed in frustration, venting, “I was supposed to admit my feelings to you first… but Legolas showed up…” He trailed off, shaking his head. “Regardless, I suppose now isn’t the time for that. Now, let me tell you the truth.” Feeling brave for once, he leaned closer to you. His hand was still resting on yours on the cool stone bench surrounding the fountain. His tone was soft as he whispered, “(Name), I love you.”
He adored the way your eyes lit up at such a simple phrase. It made his heart flutter to be telling you at long last. The smile that graced your features was one he’d remember for a long time as you whispered back, “I love you too, Lindir.”
There would be a time when you would both need to address this with others… namely your father… but for the time being, all that mattered was the two of you. There were many affectionate and tender moments that needed to be made up for, after all, and you had many hours under the glistening stars to do so.

Status as of 9/25/23: OPEN FOR REQUESTS.
Fandoms I write for: Exclusively Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (book and PJ movies). The Silmarillion is just too far above my writing level, and Rings of Power conflicts too frequently with my headcanons.
Characters I write for: I’m generally open to most LOTR/Hobbit canons, but I have greatest interest in the following:
Elves: Thranduil, Legolas, Elrond, Haldir, Lindir Dwarves: Thorin, Fili Men: Boromir, Eomer OCs: Princes Mirion, Turhir, Arvellas, and Gelir Thranduilion
Romantic Pairings I accept requests for:
LOTR/Hobbit Male Canon x Female Reader or OC
Thranduil x OC Elvenqueen Maereth
OC Thranduilion Prince x Female Reader or OC
Elrond x Celebrian (my favorite canon pair)
Tumblr media
Genres:
For Romance: Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, Angst, Slow Burn, Mutual Pining.
For Gen Fics: Brotherhood Action and Fluff are my absolute favorite. I love Adventures and Drama involving Family and Friends.
Ratings I write: Ranges from General Audience to Teen; may go up to borderline Mature, but I do not write Explicit/Smut.
How to Submit a Request:
Use my Ask box to make your request. State your chosen character and/or pairing, and include any details and preferences, such as a specific story, event, time period/age you would like me to tackle, or additional characters you would like me to include.
If you are submitting your Ask in relation to a writing event / prompt list I posted, please say so.
Only one request per message/ask, please! However, hit that Ask button as many times as you’d like.
Anonymous requests are always welcome!
Please also be reminded that:
My Fic/HC Requests are always open. However, it will likely take a long time for me to write your story. I cannot guarantee a delivery time.
There is no "first come, first served" line. I work on whatever I'm inspired to write for the day. I jump around a lot--that's how my brain works.
Please only make a request if you can understand that I am a slow writer, and you are willing wait indefinitely for me to complete your fic.
If, for whatever reason, I know that I cannot fulfill your request, I will let you know immediately. I will never just ignore or delete a request.
You can always send me follow up Asks or Messages regarding your requests; I don't mind this at all!
Every fic I write is a special, custom gift from me to you. I do this for free, using whatever spare time and energy I can scrounge up. The only thing I ask for is your patience--and hopefully a Like or Reblog when the time comes!

sanisse’s kinktober event rules
  [MAIN RULES REDIRECT HERE]
Below are a list of prompts. These are first come, first serve.
You can request any character or pairing you wish. Whether that’s a reader insert or a ship pairing you like. I will be accepting one request per each prompt, but characters/ships can be requested multiple times.

Characters from the Silmarillion, The Fall of Gondolin, the Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power (I characterize people a bit different based on the show > specify if you’d specifically like a rings of power version of a character (i.e. Gil-Galad, Elrond, Celembrimbor...), etc. are all valid. Same rules apply: I don’t really write dwarves, hobbits, or orcs...nothing against them, I’m just not good at writing them. If you’re not sure about a character or ship, feel free to ask!

It was cold as sin. The streets outside were quiet, and glowed red, gold, and green, cheery colours that scattered the late-night gloom.
The tree was up, fully decorated, and a fire burning away cheerfully in the hearth. You and Lindir had huddled up on the carpet, reading and eating christmas cookies. You were both so engrossed in your books that you hadn't noticed the pile of baked treats had shrunk to one. When your hand and his reached for the plate, they struck cold ceramic. "What?" You look down, only to see a single cookie remaining. "We ate them all?"
"Indeed we have," Lindir put his book away, with his eyes on the cookie the entire time. "Well, almost all. There’s but one left." He gulped, his eyes lighting up at the red frosting, the white tree--
The snowflakes in the background, the snow-covered earth. You could feel your mouth watering, your fingers itching to wrap themselves around the cookie. Lindir had the same feeling, then his eyes lifted to yours. "You—you don’t happen to want it," He asked nonchalantly, before turning his gaze back to the plate, one eye on your hand, and one eye on the cookie. "Do you?"
Your stomach growled, as if to say, one more. "Actually, I do." You inched your hand a little closer to the cookie. He did the same. "I want to eat it."
He was not going to let you have it. "So do I," Lindir mumbled, then quickly batted your hand away. You tried to bat his hand off the plate. "Lindir," you giggled when the two of you playfully tried to nudge each other out of the way. "Let me have the cookie."
Lindir, ever the forward-thinking elf that he is, had the good sense to send the plate sliding away from both of you. When you lunged forward, he grabbed onto your waist, making you squeal. "No, y/n," He grabbed onto your sides, tickling you, making you laugh, his own cheeks red with mirth. "No, let me have it."
"L-l-lindir--" you giggled and squealed. You tried to squirm your way out of his grasp, but he had a good grip on you. "L-l-let g-go!"
Lindir was giggling now. "N-no." He kept tugging you back, trying to go forward himself, not succeeding whenever you tried to squirm away from him. Feeling you so close to him, grinding against him as you tried to get away, made him hard. "I w-will not let you go."
"Gimme!" you reached for the plate, your fingers trying to find purchase on the outer rim. "Gimme the cookie!"
His eyes went wide-eyed with shock when the noise of the plate being pulled across the carpet reached his ears. "Y/n! No!"
Lindir tried to pull you back. Alas, it was too late. By the time he pulled you back to him, the cookie was already halfway in your mouth. His eyes narrowed to angry slats. "You cookie thieving little--"
You arch an eyebrow, your mouth full of half-eaten cookie, the other half still sticking out as if to taunt him. "Whaf?"
That uneaten half was too tempting to resist. Lindir eyed it for the briefest of moments before smiling like anything and dipped his head. You felt his teeth sinking into something. The cookie felt lighter. Lindir lifted his head with a triumphant smirk. And that’s when you realized, Lindir was contentedly munching on the other half of the cookie. "Vefy nife." Mouth full, he grinned that Cheshire cat grin of his, thoroughly pleased with himself.
There was something positively delicious about the piece of cookie he had. Lindir sat up straight, took his time to finish, to savour every last morsel. "Vefy nife indeef." Shamelessly, he wiped his lips, licking what crumbs were there off his fingers. "I guess my noble mother was right when she said food from another’s plate always tasted better." He smirked when you glared and sat up. "She only did it with my father of course, and when it was just the two of them at home so--"
You huffed and finished what remained of your share of the cookie. "You will pay for that," you mutter under your breath while dusting yourself off. "I was hoping to finish off that cookie."
Play wrestling with you had put him in a mood for other things. "Well," When Lindir narrowed his eyes, you could see them glinting wickedly in the light of the fire. "If you want to wrap those pretty lips of yours around something that badly," he said huskily, "I have just the thing for you." Tilting his head to the side, Lindir traced a line over your thigh, making you tremble. "And it’s much bigger than a cookie."
The innuendo made your cheeks burn, and the hand gliding up your thigh made you shiver. "I’m not that hungry," you mumbled, not wanting to give him even an inkling of what his touch was doing to you.
"Really?" Lindir chuckled huskily. "Your mouth says one thing, but your cheeks and eyes say something else altogether, meleth." He curled a finger under your chin and tilted it up. "Oh yes, there it is, plain as day. The red cheeks, the widened eyes." He ran a thumb over your lips. groaning when your mouth parted slightly.
You could’t help but purr when his thumb kept circling your lips, your heart racing like you had been running for miles. Your body’s response was one of need, that he was not the only one in the mood, after all. Lindir closed his eyes, groaning under his breath when you wrapped your lips around his thumb. "Still not in the mood?" He breathed when he pulled his finger away.
"Well, what if I am in the mood?" Your breath had now grown as ragged as his. His offer of letting you put your mouth to other uses was proving to be more appealing by the second.
Lindir smirked, took your hand and helped you up. He led you back to the sofa and sat down, had you standing in front of him. "Now," he said, tossing a cushion to the carpet between his legs. "Let’s put that pretty little mouth of yours to good use."
You blush, but grin and sink gracefully to your knees.

Erestor for the ask game???
1: sexuality headcanon
Very very gay, but somewhere on the ace spectrum. I just strikes me as the kind of guy who's happy to have sex but doesn't seek it out.
2: otp
Glorestor. :) Peak "someone will die." "~of fun!!~" energy and it's so much fun.
3: brotp
Celebrian & Erestor! Like I'm currently very partial to Elrond & Erestor and Erestor & Celebrimbor, but Cel and Erestor (and Lindir) are comrades-at-arms in the running of Imladris and in making sure that Elrond sticks to a reasonable sleep schedule. Especially in the early days of marriage, Cel had a LOT of questions for him regarding her husband bc Elrond hates seeming Weird(tm) but Erestor has exactly zero tolerance for bullshit. Yes Elrond, you have to wear a coat when it's cold. No Celebrian, don't listen to him he is currently ill.
4: notp
Elrond x Erestor is just.... I can't. I literally cannot. I hate it so much. And generally any female character, OC or not. He's so homosexual to me. I even have trouble really envisioning him for insert requests if the reader is AFAB.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
Actually really loves kids and is super good with them! He's prickly with adults but he's super amicable and nice around smaller people :)
6: favorite line from this character
'Thus we return once more to the destroying of the Ring,' said Erestor, 'and yet we come no nearer. What strength have we for the finding of the Fire in which it was made? That is the path of despair. Of folly I would say, if the long wisdom of Elrond did not forbid me.' this reads as so incredibly salty to me lmao. Erestor is tired of this conversation and has no fucks to give, not even for Elrond, and while he will concede that yes, Elrond is incredibly wise, also he's going to make it abundantly clear that he thinks the Maedhros method of destroying the ring is stupid.
7: one way in which I relate to this character
in terms of fanon Erestor I deeply relate with how chronically done he is.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
Bruh idk?? Erestor's pretty chill on that front.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
Neither. Rat bastard.

Hey, babes!
Honestly I have brain rot for the idea of the ‘woman of the group does sexy dance to help mission’ trope and like LOTR boys. I also have brain rot for them hearing her sing ‘I Wanna Make Love To You’ by Etta James.
Anyway can I request the elves reactions to reader do a sexy burlesque/strip style dance? Like they in the audience and how they’d react.
By elves I mean: Elrond, Lindir, Thranduil, Legolas, Haldir and Arwen
OK I’M YELLING (I went ahead n threw our girl Galadriel in there cuz gotta catch em all right? 😁) there’s not really a mission lol but hope this does it justice! My latest D&D session the other night ended with burlesque performance so this feels like the perfect time to post this hehe
The Elves Reacting to F!Reader’s Burlesque Performance
Warnings: suggestive obviously 😆
Thranduil
Sure, he knew you’d all but been dared to set foot upon the stage, but something in your resolute expression and the long robe you wore had Thranduil’s eyebrows raising. Nary did he expect the way your hand shot out, grabbing the pole the moment the lights dimmed, or the way your robe dropped, revealing the lowest-cut, highest-slit dress he’d ever seen you in. Breath hitching, he watched as a long wave of fabric draped between your gorgeous legs, which wrapped around the pole as you climbed it. Eyes darkening as you spun, he could hardly help imagining what, or whom, else they could wind around so, and if he would ever be so blessed to see the confident air overtaking you again…
Legolas
Frowning, Legolas disappeared further into the gathering crowd. Gimli was the one who’d dared him to attend the show, telling him he was sure no pointy-ear could handle it. How could it be so, simply a performance? The crowd looked far too eager for you to be putting them into any sort of- oh. You emerged onto the stage, forearms and down covered with feathers like the wings of a great bird. Your legs were almost entirely bare, skirt minimal and bodice little more than a corset. Twirling and pirouetting into poses the woodland prince could only describe as suggestive, you beamed innocently at the crowd and hid behind your feathers, lashes fluttering. Another performer emerged behind you, hands on your waist and fingers deftly loosening your corset… Gripping the arms of his seat tighter, Legolas leaned in, a yearning in his own fingers readily accepting his friend’s latest challenge.
Haldir
A dancer you were. That was a known fact whispered among those familiar with you, often calling you something of a knife-dancer. Curiosity got the better of Haldir when scandal colored whispers of your performance right outside the woods. Was it dangerous, perhaps? Pride flowed into the little smile of anticipation he wore as fast-paced music filled the room and flames were snuffed, leading you to slide gracefully into the dim. Crouching, you crawled to the edge of the stage with a bloodthirsty grin that sent shivers down Haldir’s spine. Flicks of your wrists revealed your famed blades, which you twirled, tossed, and dragged gently along the length of your tongue. Brows raising, he found himself leaning forward with new interest. What sort of dance was- Coherent thought ceased immediately when you tossed your blades, caught them, and began slicing away at purposefully shoddy seams upon your outfit, revealing more and more until the elf was on the edge of his seat…
Galadriel
Hearing of a new form of entertainment served only to pique Galadriel’s curiosity and draw her from her frequent solitude. After all, if it was making her people happy… She did not expect to see a lone performer upon a platform, elaborately feathered fans covering most of her figure, but there you were. Clad all in white, at least from what she could see near your feet, you slowly closed the fans. The long swaths of fabric that hung near the ground begun only at your hips, the expanse of your legs utterly bare as you extended them, moving gracefully across the stage as your fans accentuated every curve and undulation of your body. Jerking, you rotated, hips swiveling as you happened to face the Lady of Lórien, and watching you through her lashes Galadriel felt a devilish smile rise to her lips. She saw exactly why there had been such a buzz…
Lindir
There had been talk of you giving a performance of some kind, but all Lindir had been able to retrieve on the subject was that he should quite like to be in the audience, so with a light heart he shuffled into the crowd, pleased to be quite close to the stage set up for you. Perhaps you’d learned a new instrument under his nose and wishes to surprise him with a performance! Perhaps- You slunk to the center clad in, oh dear, quite a sheer skirt. Feeling a rush of heat to his face, he tried to focus upon the swell of music, largely successful until you ripped your top off, hips swinging lower as your layers thinned and thinned… You froze momentarily, wearing little more than your corset, and made direct eye contact with Lindir, whose eyes widened and body felt quite faint. Slowly, deliberately, you took up your dance once more, grinning at him as you began unlacing the back of your garment. His hands shot up, half-covering his face, but he couldn’t help himself peeking again and again.
Elrond
Housing a troupe of performers was certainly an unusual set of circumstances, but not in the slightest beyond the reach of the great homely house. Indeed, at encouragement from Lindir to let music fill his halls, Elrond acquiesced to a performance, unknowing of the so-called ‘dancers’ who would emerge after the exuberant wind section. In fact, it wasn’t until they called you out that Elrond’s eyes widened, brows expressive as ever as they flexed in great shock. You were lowered down on ropes, sitting with your legs largely bared and swinging. Garments- quite the loose term- of drapery covered the rest of your form, but as you leaned back in your swing, you began twisting, swiveling, removing one veil after another… Elrond found himself looking this way and that, but his eyes could never leave you for long. Feeling his gaze darken and his hands flex, he wondered what he had gotten himself into…
Arwen
How scandalous could it be? Many a friend or even a family member or two had rolled eyes and whispered harshly about your performances, but Arwen was not afraid. No matter what it was said to be, she would experience it for it to be so in her mind. Thus she found herself in the audience of the very subject of contempt, the somewhat smaller ratio of maids to men not lost upon her. A great fount was all Arwen could see at the center of it all, at least until one bare leg slowly arched from its edge. Blinking, Arwen watched as it was followed by another, each of them kicking some water onto the crowd before your hands gripped the other side, flipping over to render most of your body visible. Hanging from the sides, you swiveled your hips, head innocently rested upon your folded arms as if your…ahem…rear end were not moving so. Sitting up, you let go, dropping back into the water with a splash before emerging again and grinningly tossing water on more patrons. Arwen found herself mirroring your expression, following your every motion with interest and a strange sense of elation.

hey, I got a little request for a fluffy care fic but it’s more of a sensitive topic so if ya don’t want to do it I understand but… could you do something with a female elf reader x Lindir and it’s ‘shark week’ but he’s so naïve and innocent he doesn’t realize that’s why she’s in pain until someone tells him. If this makes you uncomfortable you don’t have to.
Tumblr media
You lay in bed, hugging your stomach. This pain was unbearable. Your world began to grow blurry and you moaned. Your stomach hurt, your back hurt, and you were hungry.
“Y/n?” Lindir slowly opened the door to your room. “What are you still doing in bed? Lord Elrond had been waiting for you for over two hours.”
“Leave me be, I’m in pain…” you whispered.
“What do you mean?” Lindir asked, walking over and pulling the blanket down so he could see your face.
You looked up at him as his face changed to one of shock and concern. “Y/n, you’re pale…what’s wrong?”
You whimpered and clutched yourself tighter. He sat and gently rubbed your back. “Do you want me to bring you some tea along with something to eat?”
You nodded and he gave your shoulder a squeeze before standing. “I’ll let lord Elrond know you’re not feeling well…” he whispered.
You moaned in response before closing your eyes.
-.-.-
Lindir placed a plate on a tray along with a small tea pot and a cup and took the tray back to your room. He slowly entered and set the tray on the bedside table before slowly sitting you up and stacking the pillows for you to lean agents. “Hey…”
You smiled as he gently brushed your hair from your face. He slowly set the tray on your lap before standing. “I’ll be back shortly, I just have to inform lord Elrond you won’t be joining us today.”
You nodded as you sipped the tea. “Thank you Lindir.”
Lindir left and entered the library.
“Did you find y/n” Elrond asked as he set a few scrolls on a desk.
Lindir looked at him. “I- she’s still in bed. She could barely move and her face was pale. I’m afraid she has an injury she’s not telling us about.”
Elrond chuckled and shook his head. “No lindir, y/n is not injured”
“What? But- my lord I’m sure you would think differently if you saw her condition-”
“Lindir, the symptoms you’re describing are quite clear. It’s simply that time of month for her.”
“Time of month- what?”
A female elf chuckled and walked over, whispering in Lindir’s ear before taking a few steps back.
Lindir’s face and ears turned bright red. “Oh…I see…” he murmured.
The elf and Elrond began to chuckle.
Lindir turned even more red. “It’s not funny,” he grumbled before walking off embarrassed.
Lindir worked up the courage to enter your room again and he found you clutching your middle.
He frowned and walked over to you. “Is there anything else I can do for you?”
You held out one arm, motioning for him to come closer. He did and you pulled him in for a hug. “Just hold me…”
He turned red again and froze for a moment before going to the other side of the bed and scooting over to you and letting you rest in his arms as he leaned agents the pile of pillows.
You buried your face in his shoulder and slowly took in his scent, relaxing a bit. He was stiff for a while but he soon was cuddling you as much as you were cuddling him. He had his cheek wresting on the top of your shoulder.
-.-.-
Lord Elrond searched all over for lindir before deciding to check your room. He opened the door slowly and a smile came to his face when he saw you asleep as lindir gently rubbed your back.
Lindir looked up when he felt eyes on him. “Lord Elrond I-”
Elrond held up his hand. “Take some time off, she needs someone by her side.”
Lindir nodded as the door closed.
You woke some time later and immediately hissed in pain. Lindir was immediately asking you what you needed and you nuzzled closer. “I need a distraction…” You mumbled.
He thought for a second before placing a kiss on your forehead.
You were surprised by his actions and looked up at him. “I…you…”
He looked away, afraid he’d done something wrong.
“You missed…”
He looked at you as his ears heated up and he placed his lips on yours.

You could barely hear your own thoughts over the racing beat of your heart as the coach rolled over the bridge into Rivendell. It had been years since the last time you laid eyes upon it and you wondered how much it might have changed since then.
Finally, the horses drew to a halt and a footman opened the coach door and brilliant golden sunlight spilled into the dark interior.
You leaned forward, and bit back a smile as Samara said, “Careful. You wouldn’t want to fall headfirst out of the coach in front of Lord Elrond. That’s probably not the impression you wish to make.”
“No, you’re right, it isn’t,” you tapped your left foot, which rippled with pins and needles, “but my blasted foot is asleep, so perhaps you should go first.”
As you’d expected, your maid looked thoroughly horrified, shaking her head as she said, “I could never do that, my lady. Your mother would kill me if she found out.”
“I wouldn’t tell her.”
“She would still find out. She always finds out.”
“Very well.” You gave your foot one last shake, but most of the tingling had stopped so perhaps you weren’t taking too great a risk in putting any weight on it. Either way, you held your breath, reached to grip the side of the coach to steady yourself, and vaulted from the coach.
The pins and needles that had flooded your foot only moments ago now prickled up your leg, but at least you didn't stumble as you found yourself staring up at the footman. You’d forgotten how tall elves were. All of them. There was not a single short elf to be found anywhere in all of Middle Earth. Of that you were certain.
“Welcome to Rivendell.”
A shiver tickled along your spin at the low, smooth voice that you had not heard in forever and when you turned and saw him, you couldn't help your smile as Lindir added, “Foot fall asleep again?”
“How did you guess?” You turned to him and your heart skipped a beat, just as it always had when you were younger and you met those warm, dark eyes.
“Because,” he swept toward you, his dark hair sleek, shimmering with shades of gold and russet in the sunlight, “I know you sit with your legs curled up beneath you until you can no longer feel them. It’s nice to know some things never change.”
He stopped before you, his smile as warm as his eyes. “It’s good to see you.”
You gazed up at him. Like all of the other elves, he towered over you, slim and elegantly handsome and you remembered a time where you would have slid your arms around him and hugged him close. But now, you weren’t so certain that would be appropriate. After all, so much of time had passed.
He solved your dilemma by engulfing you in a hug so tight, it took the breath from your lungs and in an instant, you felt as if you’d come home. In a way, you had, for though you were of Man, you had been raised not far from Rivendell and had spent a good part of your early years there, welcomed by Elrond and his people.
“I have missed you,” he murmured, giving you a squeeze. “You are just as I remember, you know.”
“Oh, I don't know about that,” you told him as you reluctantly pulled away from him. “But it’s nice of you to say.”
“And who is this?”
He gestured to Samara, who bobbed her head. “Miss Samara Greene,” she replied softly. “I am in her ladyship’s employ.”
“And where is his lordship?” Lindir looked back at you. “Last I heard, you were married.”
He said it softly, but there was no mistaking the hurt in his deep voice. Hurt you never meant to cause and regretted causing to that very moment. But the decision to marry had not been yours.
“He is not coming,” you replied, casting a glance at Samara. “He and I are no longer a couple as of the first of the year.”
Perhaps it was only your imagination, but you’d swear his eyes widened ever so slightly. But then they were back to normal so perhaps you had only imagined it. Either way, he bobbed his head. “I am sorry to hear that.”
“I’m not,” you told him without thinking. “He was an ass and I’m far better off without him.”
Samara gasped, but you knew Lindir well enough to know that, despite his outward neutral expression, the small crinkles at the outer corners of his eyes only showed when he smiled or when he fought off said smile. They showed now. He fought off a smile.
“You’ve still not learned the art of mincing words, have you?”
“I’ve not and I think I never shall. Will that trouble you?”
He chuckled softly, shaking his head. “Not one bit. Come, and have a bit of refreshment. MY lord Elrond is not here at the moment, but you will be able to catch up a bit at supper this evening.”
With that, he offered you his arm. “I’ll have your servant shown to your chambers, but I would love it if you would come walk with me a bit.”
“I don’t think—” Samara began.
But you cut her off with a gentle, “I’ll be fine, Sam. I’m in good hands.”
Samara’s forehead creased and a slight scowl tugged down the corners of her lips, but all she said was, “If you say so.”
“I do. I will see you later.”
“Arun,” Lindir turned to the taller of the two elves standing just behind him, “Please show Miss Samara to her chambers.”
“Aye,” Arun bobbed his head, then to Samara said, “If you will follow me.”
Samara didn't look at all convinced, but nodded and did as she was told, falling into step behind Arun, who lead her away from the main drive, up a white marble staircase, where they vanished from view.
For the first time in many years, you were alone with Lindir and all the while you’d been in the coach, you worried that seeing him would be awkward, that conversation between the two of you would be stilted. You’d loved him so much for so long, and had crushed him when you told him your father had arranged your wedding to another.
You slipped your arm through his, trying to ignore how thick and solid that arm was beneath yours. He was tall and slender, but you knew firsthand the muscle beneath that slim build. Knew it and knew it well.
He broke the silence with a low, “So, where should we go?”
“You lead. I’m afraid I’ll only get us lost, it’s been so long since I was last here.”
“I wouldn’t let you get lost. At least,” he looked down and grinned at you, “not too lost, anyway. Not that much has changed around here. A band of dwarves passed through not too long ago, which made things interesting.”
“Dwarves?” You looked up at him as he led you up the same staircase as Arun and Samara had gone. Only at the top, the white stone walkway went in several directions, like the spokes of a wheel. In the distance, to the west, Elrond’s palace gleamed all white marble with gilded edges and adorned with collages of lapis lazuli and other various stones. In the opposite direction, a welcoming forest where you’d spent hours as a child climbing trees and playing games with your friends. They always accepted you, didn't hold being of Man against you, just and Lindir never held it against you. In fact, he used to tell you how he liked that you were not elven. That you were unique, as he’d described it.
But he led you down a different spoke, one that led up and behind the palace to the north, but then wound away from it as well, and you smiled as the soft rush of water floated toward you. “The fountains?”
“It was months before Elrond could bring himself to turn them back on. He only did so a few weeks ago, you know,” he said as you crested the gentle slope and the tiered fountain came into view. It looked as if it had been carved from the rock itself, but you knew better. It was sculpted of the same marble as Elrond’s palace, trimmed with gold and lapis lazuli as well. Four tiers high, each one fed the one beneath it, emptying into a pool that was waist deep. As you drew near it, a gentle, cool spray rose from that pool, bringing back memories of splashing about in it with the man beside you.
“Why had he turned them off?”
“The dwarves. They found great joy in playing in it. They were an… interesting bunch to have in residence. Very high-spirited and very messy. They drank most of our wine, ate themselves silly, and splashed about naked in the fountains.”
You fought back your laugh, but couldn't contain your smile. “And so Elrond shut them down?”
He nodded. “He wanted to have it cleaned out in case they… left anything behind.”
“Lindir!”
“What? I didn't say they had, nor did I order it. It was all my lord.”
“And did he ask to have it shut down after you and I—”
His hand came up to cover your lips gently. “Shhh… he does not know about that and he never will.”
“He never found out?”
His hand muffled your words, but he shook his head. “No. He never did. And I’ve never told a soul about what happened that night.”
His voice grew softer, as did his eyes and you swallowed hard at the memories you’d tried for so long to forget. “I owe you an apology,” you told him, catching the hand he’d put over your lips in your and as the moment you touched, his fingers tightened about yours.
“You owe me nothing,” he told you, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. “It was beyond your control.”
“Still… it wasn’t fair to you and I—I just… left.”
“Again, also beyond your control.” He caught your free hand in his to squeeze that as well. “So, what happened? With your husband, I mean.”
“My ex-husband. We knew we didn't suit and he found another he preferred above me.”
“He is a fool.”
Lindir said it softly, just as he said most things, but there was no mistaking the intensity behind his words. You felt them clear through to the core of your being and you shifted to link your fingers with his. It felt so right. For the first time in years, everything felt right.
“Lindir, I can never possibly make up the hurt I’ve caused you.”
“There is no need to,” he replied, shaking his head. “You’re here now and I am hoping you’ll remain here. With me.”
Those were the last words you’d ever expected to hear him utter to you and your heart beat faster, rose as if it had wings, and you found yourself holding your breath. “Are you certain that’s what you want?”
“Is it what you want?”
You nodded slowly. “I’ve regretted leaving here every moment I’ve been gone, but I didn't dare let myself even hope a moment like this would come. I was so certain that another would have won your heart and you’d be happily married with a passel of children.”
“I thought the same, to be honest, but there is no other woman I wish to be the mother of that passel of children. You’ve had my heart since we were but children. And now you’re here and I am hoping like mad you will stay.”
He moved closer, and before you could say anything else, he leaned in and his lips met yours. His kiss was exactly how you’d remembered, soft and sweet, his lips warm as they moved against yours. His hands tightened about yours as his lips parted and his tongue caressed yourself in a slow, teasing stroke that set your head to spinning at once.
You gently pulled your hands free, eased your arms about his waist, your hands flat against his firm back, and smiled as he wrapped his now free arms about you, bent you back slightly, and deepened his kiss further. Butterflies came alive within your belly, their wings battering your insides to leave you almost lightheaded as he slowly drew back and broke the kiss.
Then, he pressed his forehead to yours, whispering, “I’ve missed you, love.”
“I’ve missed you as well.”
“So, you will stay?”
“Do you wish me to?”
He smiled. “More than I have ever wished for anything else in my life.”
“Will Elrond allow it?”
“I think so. He’s quite fond of you, you know.”
You pulled back just enough to meet those beautiful, fathomless dark eyes. “Then yes. I will.”
“And you’ll allow me to court you?”
“Did you think I wouldn’t?”
He let out a low chuckle, and brushed your lips with his once more, then without warning, swept you up in his arms. Those butterflies multiplied as he moved off the walkway and headed in the direction of the fountain. “What are you doing?”
“I told you, Elrond had it shut down and cleaned and I think we should be the ones to take advantage of the fact that now they are pristine once more.”
“And if we are caught?”
He smiled. “We worry about that when and if it happens.”
“Will you find yourself in trouble?”
“Again, we worry about that when and if it happens, and even if it does, ask me if I care.” He paused as he reached the fountain and then lowered you back to your feet. “Unless, of course, you’d rather not risk it.”
You smiled up at him, winding your arms about his neck and as you pulled him toward you, you whispered, “I’ll risk it,” just before his lips mets yours again.

Hello my lovely lady. 💓 I was wondering if you could write a, Lindir x female elf reader story? Lindir appears in the hobbit movies. Please ✨🥺
Lindir~ Purposeful
Synopsis: Lindir is surprised to find you, his long-time crush, traveling with a company of dwarves. He’s fearful for your life, so what can he say that will get you to stay by his side?
🍃Masterlist🍃 Female Elf MC!
A/n: To start, I was looking up videos on YouTube to get more familiar with Lindir and the first commercial I got was “Lindor, made to melt you” and I wheezed over it for the longest hour of my life. 💀 I was destined to be a Lindir simp; the YouTube gods have foretold thus.
–Word Count: 1,760–
The clean air of day was a welcome thing in Rivendell, it was always such a peaceful place and its magic was enough to soothe even mental ailments. Well… it was mostly always peaceful, if you consider that a company of dwarves—even if small—was a rare sight.
To make this company even stranger, Lindir was most interested in the fact that a familiar elf-maiden was traveling with a bunch of rowdy dwarves, an unassuming hobbit, and a gray wizard—but this elf-maiden wasn’t just any elf of Middle Earth… You were an elf that he had once held affections for… and oddly, upon being in your vicinity again, his feelings seemed to blossom strongly. How was it you managed to hold his heart for so long?
He wasn’t originally going to disturb you while you took your rest in Rivendell before heading out into the wilds of the world… but per Lord Elrond’s orders, Lindir was the one to make sure the guests were comfortable—that included you. And where else should he have found you besides on a balcony, looking over the beauty that was your home land?
You had clearly heard him approach you, so it didn’t startle you when he suddenly commented, “You’re not with your companions.”
You lifted an eyebrow. “Should I be?” You were sure that even Lindir would understand that you just wanted to relish being home while you had the chance.
After a half-second of hesitating, Lindir asked, “What is a maiden doing with… this lot?” He picked his words slowly and carefully, not meaning to offend you if you just so happened to prefer the company of dwarves to your own kind.
“Gandalf is a dear friend, and I agreed to join this company on his behest,” you answered as if it were a noble mission, and not some game of death that had the potential of a dragon killing you all at once. “And… if I’m being honest, I traveled with them because Gandalf said we’d be passing through Rivendell.” You paused again, quietly adding, “I haven’t been home in a while…”
“You haven’t,” Lindir agreed, though he looked almost neglected as he quietly asked, “Is that truly the only reason you came?”
In truth, you had craved to visit Rivendell specifically for the chance to see Lindir again, but now that he was in front of you, you didn’t know how to make words. You could only shyly utter, “It’s one of my reasons…”
Even after all the time you spent away from Rivendell, things never changed between the two of you; you were always dancing around one another, neither saying what you really meant.
Lindir tested, “You're truly following them to face a dragon?” That was the harsh reality you faced; and you could tell Lindir was worried about you.
Things fell into a tense silence as you stared whimsically at the waterfalls. Instead of answering his question, you tried to brush it off and say, “I'm helping them return to their home.”
Lindir sighed as he observed you. He always thought you were so selfless and put others before yourself; but you also had a great heart-wrenching habit of putting others before him… Based on your response he asked, “But will you return home?”
It was unlikely, though you couldn't give him an answer and the silence persisted until you finally offered, “Let's take a walk.”
Thankfully, he didn't disagree. He'd never tell you no. But taking a walk with Lindir, all you could do was reminisce about your past together rather than focusing on a bleak future that you may or may not have.
Still, you couldn't avoid the topic for long. By the way he fidgeted with his hands, you could tell Lindir was nervous—or maybe not nervous; he seemed genuinely scared, and you were unsure how to comfort him or assure him you'd be alright.
But you never had time to try before Lindir spoke, “You're a strong maiden… and I should have the utmost faith in your abilities. I only…” He trailed off, though he expected you would understand what he was trying to get at.
“Again?” You asked quietly. It felt like déjà vu all over. This conversation had happened before… It occurred the first time you had left Rivendell for a life of adventure. But now that you've experienced the world for yourself, you knew what you had to tell him. “You have a purpose with Lord Elrond… Mine is not such a lavish pursuit. I wish to help those I can help so long as it's in my power to do so. That means…” You continued slowly, “venturing outside of Rivendell.”
It was a suitable response, even he could admit that, but it wasn't what he wanted to hear. “But what power do you have against a dragon?” It was his turn to make a point as he still tried to convince you, “I'm sure if you stayed we could find something-”
“Mellon nin(my friend),” you interrupted softly. “I am to my sword and bow as you are to your literature and voice.”
Lindir seemed particularly upset, though you knew the details of your journey this time were much more imminently dangerous. But his complaints caught you off guard. “But why for dwarves? Of all the reasons you could have to wield a weapon…” He sighed warily as if just mentioning Thorin’s company caused him a headache. “And I can only imagine if they're as… rambunctious as they were at the meal with Lord Elrond…” He trailed off unsure of what kind of insult he could have to throw their way without equally insulting you. “I fail to see why you would go so far.”
“Honestly… They're not as bad as you think. They're a merry bunch, really—even if we have our differences.” You paused, gauging Lindir’s seemingly mournful expression. Was he that upset over the company you joined? “Lindir, I know you think little of dwarves, but there's more to them than meets the eye. Sure, they can be rude and brutish and stubborn… and many other things—you probably have a list longer than the distance across Middle Earth—but my point is that-”
“Meleth nin(my love),” he interrupted you with red cheeks. It made you come to a pause as well as you processed his words. “Let us stop this foolish dance,” he sternly demanded; his rigid body language telling you he was taking this conversation very seriously, and he would not continue to dance this never ending dance with you. “We both know it is not the dwarves that make me wish for you to change your mind. Your aspiration to help them is a noble one.” He paused, trying to come up with the right words to say under your seemingly heavy gaze. But, for the first time in his long life, words weren't coming easily to him. Sighing, he relented, finally asking, “Is it selfish that I want you to stay… for me?”
Your heart skipped as your wide eyes stayed trained on his face for any hidden meaning, anything that could give you a hint as to how to reply. “Lindir…” He called you his love… You were just as speechless as he seemed to have been. “Lindir…”
Glancing away from you, he was feeling awkward at how you only seemed to be able to utter his name. Perhaps he had misread something of your relationship. “Sorry,” he sincerely apologized. “I'm asking too much of you, mellon nin(my friend)…” He admitted to himself, glancing away, avoiding the cold heartache of rejection. “I should return to my duties…”
“Wait,” you called, making him stop to at least regard you. “Did… Did you mean it?”
He stayed frozen, exceedingly quiet for a few moments before he acknowledged, “Every word.”
You faltered, uttering quietly, “Meleth(love)…” You searched his gaze for truth and he desperately searched yours in return. Seeing the longing in your gaze, he embraced you in his arms as quickly as you were to wrap your arms around his shoulders, pulling him closer to you. “Le melin(I love you)...”
His arms tightened around you, not wanting to even think about you leaving his embrace. Despite your soft declaration of your feelings, he timidly asked, “Will you stay with me?” Pausing he rephrased, “Actually…” He met your gaze, and you found him staring at you with tenacity deep in his eyes. “It’s less of a question… (Name), I want you to stay with me.”
“Lindir-”
“Let me be your purpose,” he interrupted you. “I know you are a strong maiden and you would wish to use this strength in the defense of others, but I cannot let you go again… not when I don’t know if you’ll return to me. I will speak to Thorin myself about relinquishing your service to the company. Just… say you'll allow me.”
“Lindir,” you called once again for his attention, the elf too determined with his plans to recognize that you already had your answer. “Let me talk to Thorin with you. I owe an explanation to them.”
His heart soared as he took this as an agreement, a promise that you weren't going to leave him, that you were going to stay with him; it was a sign that you loved him as much as he loved you. “Very well, meleth nin(my love).”
And he was all too eager to break the news to your company… except for the fact that the dwarves had already seemed to have left. He should have been relieved that they had gone on without you… but this presented a different issue that needed addressing.
Now… If only they knew what the odd smirks between Gandalf and Lord Elrond were about…

Note
Hello! Can you write something about Lindir x female human reader? It could be anything, fluff, smut, angst etc. There aren't many stories about him. Feel free to ignore this, if you don't want to.
I’m not formally taking requests. That wasn’t really what my last post meant but more of a suggestion where I could go. But I can add Lindir on to my list of other characters to write for. Thank you for the suggestion.
