What if I did the funniest thing ever

A little part of something I wrote instead of studying.

Draxum had been pancing around for the past half hour, waiting for the slider to wake up. He tried not to panic, as the turtle's head was out of the water so technically he didn't choke... Right?

He must admit he got into the tiny lake himself to find his vitals.

"You're gonna crave a whole pathway if you keep pancing..." Said a sleepy, sore, voice, echoing around. "I'm sorry I fell asleep... It's comfy here"

"You have a broken arm. How are you even comfy?" Draxum points out.

"Water is comfy..."

Yeah, Leo thinks, water is comfy. It let's you float as if you weren't inside your own body. It's the closest to freedom someone could get.

But it also was dangerous... Like fire. Weird comparison, but really... Water and fire, for Leo, weren't that different. Both are needed for survival but can kill you at any time. The taste of freedom they give, a mere consolation of the full extent of their power. Only a taste of real, impossible freedom.

Freedom was a difficult concept for Leo. He feared it, because he didn't understand it. Where does death start and freedom end? Water is freedom, because it lets your soul float away from what pains deeply inside, fire is freedom because it covers ugly, dark fear with passion and lives on it, turning it into more ashes that darken it even more.

But where is the line that keeps that freedom from becoming indomitable?

He refuses to believe there isn't such a line. That freedom is a semiotic movement instead of the binary opposite of death. He refused to believe freedom was a straight lineline, from lesser to greater.

Nevertheless, he's staying inside the lake.

Dry and Cold

My eyes are dry, my hands are cold. The noose around my neck is gold. A butterfly black, a skull that’s cracked. My eyes are dry, my hands are cold.

I’ve hurt my head, the pavement’s red. The concrete is kinder than my parents’ bed. Never did the sheets, hide a monster beneath. It slept on the bed, now the pavement’s red.

The flashes are white, the sirens are loud. A scribbled note, the paramedics found. The clothes will be black, for the lineline’s flat. When it’s off into the ground, the sirens won’t be loud.

12. Show your favourite drawing from this year

Since I already showed the Maddie and Harr piece in the previous ask, I'll just post my second favorite from this year:

15. Biggest artist pet peeve?

Tangents. Have been a longtime watcher of Sinix's art youtube and it's one of his pet peeves, so much so that it molded into one of my own peeves.

Can't think of any recent examples I've got, so I'll just show this Jumin from Inktober 2016.

(ignoring that the hand is kinda fucked up in general *cough*) his finger knuckles almost line up perfectly with the line of his shirt collar, esp that index finger.

(though I think this might be more of an inking issue since looking at the sketch version, that finger knuckle tangent isn't really there)

17. What inspires you?

Not sure if it really counts as an answer, but I like looking at my personal improvement in my art. Like, I can look at some art I created in middle school with the same fondness that I look at my work now. 'Tis why I love improvement memes and draw this again challenges because it shows artistic growth.

Not finished with it yet, but back in 2014 I made an art improvement/growth meme on dA and felt it was time for an update. Here's some previews:

If you want more specific things, other than the fandom artists at large, I like things that are soft and dreamlike or sweet and cute. Some specific ones include this Japanese artist and their watercolor-like style:

Celesse, who does animals in old-timey clothes a al Beatrix Potter

Another artist that does the animals in clothes things, but is more a traditional artist

Heikala with this dream-like atmosphere to their work

and Watercolor by Shibasaki (yes, Japanese Bob Ross that tumblr introduced me to and now I love his calming watercolor videos)

22. When is your prime time to work on your art?

When I can find the time and energy. Preferably daylight hours as it gives me more time to work, but it's not always feasible with a rl job. Nighttime hours, I'm usually too tired for drawing fun times, but they do happen sometimes.

Yeah, imagine how different the story would have been if the Uchiha had let anyone, shinobi or civilian both since to be cop technically you don't need to know how to use chakra and all that, join the police

Like. It's obvious that people are not gonna trust them if it's only them and they keep everything within the clan. They could be accused A) to use the Sharingan against the civilians (I'm not saying it ever happened, but that the civilians would have a reason to fear their dojutsu), especially with how many misconceptions about the Sharingan are around, and B) to play favorities if an Uchiha ever has to be arrested. Like. This one we see it happen with Itachi. The three Uchiha cops accuse Itachi of having killed Shisui, Itachi snaps, they threaten to put him in jail and Fugaku stops them and takes the blame on himself and Itachi is let alone. Also C) they're all trained in using the chakra to some extent, since it's needed for the Sharingan, and shinobi vs civilians? Yeah, the civilians are not gonna like that, they could see everything as an abuse of power if the Uchiha are not careful (and let's be honest, they probably weren't being careful)

I also think it's said that Danzo after the Kyuubi attack pushed to move the Uchiha district where the prisons were? Or something like that, which wasn't good

Also I'm skimming the KMP page rn and it says that after the massacre the authority over it had been given to a clan distantly related to the Uchiha, so technically they were still around, and that it has been opened to everyone only after the fourth shinobi war

Hfhxud so even after the Uchiha were killed off the police force was still given to exactly one clan? They were really ready to set another clan up for that?

Gdi i’m glad Kiba came in and changed that cuz it’s BS, and i think he would have done it during Kakashi’s reign (lineline wise it makes sense) and i kinda love that cuz Kakashi saw first hand how the uchiha were treated and how distrusted they were, partially because they alone controlled the police force

I don’t like cop kiba but at the same time, good on him. Let’s not put that in the hands of one clan cuz it never ends well on either side

inktober - day 1 🌸 susato

hello! its been a while, lots has happened but i'm getting back to drawing often though inktober! i'm not following any prompt lists or anything just any ideas i can think of! today is susato mikotoba as i have been playing the new ace attorney games and got to game 2 and ahhhh i love her in the uniform. a shame it is to never be seen again but understandable. this was done with my new ohulu markers plus copic lineliners and white gel pen/white posca for highlights. i'm looking forward to using more of these markers!
