note; i hope you like it! i honestly didn’t know how it would go but this is what i ended up with.

“well thank your for another wonderful evening, dear.” 

“it was my pleasure, mr. larrabee.” you said with a smile as he linked his arm with yours, leading you down the streets of new york city. you furrowed your brows, “are we not taking the car?” 

“i thought that we could walk for a bit, if that’s alright?” you nodded rapidly, “oh yes, of course, i was just curious.” you assured to which linus gave a small smile, he then glanced at you, noticing how you were slightly trembling. “are you alright?” he questioned. you nodded, “why wouldn’t i be?” 

“you’re trembling.” 

you scoffed lightly, “am not.” 

“i can feel it.” he replied with a light chuckle, removing his arm from your grasp before slipping off his suit jacket. “oh please linus,” you shook your head, “you don’t have to do that.”

“too bad.” he then draped the jacket over your shoulders, the warmth spreading over you immediately. “thank you.” 

“your very welcome.” 

he hooked his arm with yours again, “come on darling, can’t let you freeze out here now can i?” you smiled, leaning against him. 

“thank you, linus.”

he furrowed his brows, “what for?” 

you shrugged, “everything.” 

it was no secret that you were falling for the busy business man who continued to make time for you. 

and you were just waiting for him to get the hint.

“well you’re home late.” 

“well i’m an adult, mother.” 

“and are you going to tell your dear mother where you were?” 

“out.” linus replied, shrugging off his suit jacket that you’d returned in the drive back to your home. his mother, maude, sent him a knowing look, “might you have been out with a certain investor’s daughter?” 

“she’s an investor too.” he corrected. maude shook her head, barking out a laugh which confused the man, “is something funny?” 

“oh my dear linus! for someone in business, i’d think you’d have seen it by now!” 

“i’m afraid i don’t understand-“

“that girl is completely and totally in love with you!” 

his mother’s words took him by surprise. “what are you talking about?” he questioned. “all these dinners! linus, you can’t possibly be talking about business the entire time.” 

and there it was. the past dinners he’d been on—business had not been discussed at all. but instead, he’d talked about his passions, what he enjoyed when he wasn’t doing business. you had spoken of you interests too. 

and he’d had such a wonderful time with you. and he wanted to spend almost all of his time with you…

“oh…”

“oh is right. have you finally realized?” 

maybe he hadn’t realized that you were in love with him, but he was certain that he was in love with you.

he darted out of the room, back to the coat rack, retrieving his suit jacket. maude tilted her head in confusion, “linus? wherever are you going??” 

“out!”

you sighed deeply, flopping down upon your bed. has he still yet to take the hint? how many more dinners or events would you have to invite him too in order for him to see?

sure, he flirted with you here and there, but that was it. you were the one planning, making moves, for you were too afraid to truly tell him how you felt. 

maybe you should just give up. he was a smart man, a talented man, not to mention handsome, but far too busy for a love life. it could never work. 

a loud knock echoed throughout your home. you glanced at the clock on your nightstand, it was past midnight, who’d be here at this hour?

you rose from your bed, kicking off your heels before walking towards the door, pulling it open just as another knock echoed.

“linus? what are you doing-“

“do you love me?” 

your eyes widened. you were shocked. was this really happening? had he actually understood?

“linus-“

“do you love me?” 

slowly, you nodded. 

“yes?” 

“yes.”

“yes you love me?” linus asked.

“yes i love you. i’m in love with you.”  you clarified, your voice soft, fragile.

his lips quirked up slightly into a smile. “good, you wanna know why?” 

“why?” 

“because i’m in love with you,” he then leaned in, kissing you deeply, passionately, something that had only happened in your dreams. 

and that’s when you knew that all your doubts had been wrong, and this-you and linus-were meant to be.

If Cary Grant had accepted the role of Linus Larrabee in Sabrina (1954):

Don't get me wrong, I adore the against-type casting of Humphrey Bogart, and I think the end result created some strange magic between Bogie and Hepburn. However, I'm of the opinion that early 50s Grant paired with early 50s Hepburn would have absolutely melted movie screens.

Cary Grant was Sabrina director Billy Wilder's first choice for the curmudgeonly older Larrabee brother who is eventually won over by the fresh charm of Audrey Hepburn in the titular role, but Grant turned it down ostensibly for the same reason he turned down starring opposite her in Roman Holiday the year before.

25 years Hepburn's senior, Grant was concerned about looking like a "dirty old man." After Sabrina, he would turn down working with her one more time in another Wilder flick Love in the Afternoon (1957), that part going to Gary Cooper.

He would finally (thankfully) relent when he starred opposite her in Charade (1963), with the condition that the script be rewritten to have her playing the aggressor in the relationship.

TSITP: Season 1 overall and Season 2 theories

First of all, as I cannot wait one year for season 2, I’m already thinking about it and writing down my theories. It’s never too soon. 

Regarding season 1, the scenes that will have an importance looking forward: - (Episode 2) When Jere said that Belly is his future wife. - (Episode 2) Belly watching Sabrina (1954) and I’m pretty sure that David Larrabee is the alter ego of Conrad and Linus Larrabee is Jeremiah, because Sabrina has been in love with David all her life, such as Belly has been of Conrad. But as we all know the end, Linus leaves with Sabrina to Paris. SO, can it mean that in this version Jeremiah wins and will live with Belly until the end of his days?  - (Episode 3) When Belly found condoms in Conrad’s drawer.  - (Episode 4) The conversation between Jere and Steven about being exclusive as a couple. - (Episode 5) All the conversation Conrad has with Cleveland about being good with yourself first. - (Episode 6) Jere being in bed with Belly, more than Conrad. - (Episode 6) Belly being the only “innocent” girl (virgin).  - (Episode 6) Jere in his room, getting ready (what’s the meaning of that)? - (Episode 6) Jere touching Belly’s breasts (and more)? - (Episode 7) Susannah agreeing to take the treatment. And of course, the amazing cast of the show. 

All that leads to those theories regarding season 2: - Where season 2 will take place? In Boston? Or will they jump directly to the next summer? I honestly don’t think so. I’m pretty sure that season 2 will take place in Boston during fall and Susannah will be healed (I don’t believe that she will die right away). If it takes place in Boston, the show will become like a Gossip Girl version. Also, I honestly think that Nicole will be back (the actrice is too beautiful and good that the show runners will not delete her character in season 2). I’m pretty sure she will be dating Conrad again after founding out that his mother is sick in the last episode. Shayla will be back too. I really want some flashback when Laurel and Susannah were younger.  - Laurel’s family will move to Boston? Or are they already? - Susannah will ask for a divorce.  - I see a potentiel triangle love between Laurel, Cleveland and her ex-husband John.  - Normally Conrad is going to college this year, one near Boston I presume? - Jeremiah will ask Belly to be exclusive (in Boston?) and she will say yes.  - I’m also pretty sure that Belly will lose her virginity next season (too much hint to that - the condoms in the drawer, the only one who hasn’t done it yet, being naked under the towel in front of Jere, Jere touching Belly’s breast), but right now I’m not sure to whom. Will she lose it to Jere as his girlfriend or to Conrad being a one night thing only? I’m torn (even if I wish deep down that she will do it with Jere).  - Also, I think it’s too soon for Jere to propose to Belly. It’s a tv-show, not a movie (trilogy). Did I forget something? What do you think?

This is such a good question, and because I am actively avoiding studying for my Monday morning exam, here are some couples that remind me of Ethan and Charlie. Writing this, I realized I do not have enough couples who are as messy as Charlie and Ethan, and I need more.

Leslie Knope & Ben Wyatt: enemies to secret lovers to soulmates. Beyond their similar storylines, the thing that really connects them to Ethan and Charlie is that they have such similar goals and support each other in achieving them, even when it puts back their own ambitions. Also, I fully believe that, when Ethan and Charlie finally get their shit together, they have a similar arc of settling into a really healthy and supportive marriage.

Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth Bennet: the original enemies to lovers, say no more.

January Andrews & Augustus Everett, Beach Read: mirror images of each other who couldn't communicate their deep love and settled into rivalry instead? And then finally came together when their lives fell apart? Basically the same, tbh.

Meredith Grey & Derek Shephard: I mean, technically, yes, but the better comparison is: Lexie Grey & Mark Sloan. I really can't explain this but by vibes alone.

Dr. Strange & Dr. Christine Palmer: this couple is who Ethan and Charlie would be if their lives hadn't fallen apart. Absent the ethics trial and Naveen's illness in Book 1, they wouldn't have found a reason to let down their guard and try something scary. Ethan absolutely would attend Charlie's wedding and then self-destruct the second he watched her say "I do."

Linus Larrabee & Sabrina Fairchild: an older man who has shut off feelings and finds love against his will? Who self-sacrificed, even when it meant breaking both their hearts? But who ultimately ran away from all the expectations and allowed himself to love? That's literally Ethan and Charlie (also one of my favorite movies ever).

Harry & Sally, When Harry Met Sally: While their vibes are very different, I think the relationship is very similiar. Both couples cross boundaries all the time but can't make the leap until one of them finally decides they need more.

Really, I need more suggestions for angsty couples.
