This shitty Harry Potter game has been making my blood boil so let me get personal real quick.
I am not Jewish. This body is not Jewish. Didn't grow up with Judaism, or practicing any of those beliefs.
But for the majority of our life on this Earth, for whatever dumb reason, people believed we were Jewish.
I was beaten to a pulp, made fun of, called names for years on the simple fact that people thought I was Jewish. Teachers would not intercept. No adult would try to stop it.
"They're just expressing their own personal beliefs."
This followed me from when I was about 5 or 6 all the way to my adulthood. I would have everything threatened towards me, people trying to come to my house to hurt me.
Of course over the years they found more reasons to try and hurt me (being queer and disabled for starters). But from the very beginning people hated me because they assumed I was Jewish.
Despite this, I will never fully be able to understand actually living as a Jewish person. I was never Jewish and I don't practice any similar faith.
But when I hear desperate calls for help from actual Jewish people, begging and pleading to not give money to antisemitic bigots who will fund efforts to hurt them, I unfortunately still (on some level, not entirely) understand where they are coming from.
JK Rowling is not the only one you will support if you buy the game. You will support the game devs who share the same exact views.
The only difference between Hogwarts Legacy and donating directly to antisemitic causes is you're getting Nazi Propaganda The Game out of it.
I do not care if this makes you feel bad, because it should.

Propaganda
Marilyn Monroe (How to Marry a Millionaire, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Some Like It Hot)— Ngl I thought you all were lying about sexual attraction until I saw Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Shelley Winters (A Patch of Blue, A Place in the Sun)— She was originally set up to be like a classic bombshell, but ‘got tired’ of those roles and instead went for more interesting, complex characters. And she’s sooooooo good, her performance really makes A Place in the Sun for me, she brings such a quiet dignity to a character that could so easily have otherwise been this unkind caricature. Other fun facts: she was Jewish! She claimed that her ‘chutzpah’ was the reason she had so many affairs (including w notable hot men burt lancaster, william holden, and marlon brando)!
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Marilyn Monroe:
Tumblr media
She's amazing!!! A classic bombshell, as well as a strong women who overcame so many obstacles. She also advocated for others, like Ella Fitzgerald.
Tumblr media
That fucking saxophone that cuts in whenever she appears on screen in Some Like it Hot
Tumblr media
I mean, it's Marilyn Monroe. She's adorable. She's gorgeous. She funny. She's the total package
Tumblr media
She's the original American sex symbol, an iconic beautiful woman with eyes you could get lost in, legs for days, gorgeous hair, and a cute tummy. Her voice! Just listen to her voice!!!!!
youtube
She is considered one of THE sex symbols of the 1960s and one of the greatest actresses of all time! She HAS to be on this list!
Tumblr media
no vintage movie woman is more iconically hot
Tumblr media
People are most familiar with pictures of her in the white dress or the Happy Birthday Mr President one, but imo she is at her most beautiful and looks most comfortable when she is photographed by women like Eve Arnold
Tumblr media
It’s Marilyn Monroe. If Aphrodite was an actual person, she’d be Marilyn. Do I really need to say more?
Tumblr media
What can I say that hasn't been said? Marilyn's legacy is so much bigger than she was in life. She's a defining symbol of 50s and 60s Hollywood sex and it's obvious why. She was absolutely stunning and the camera loved her.
Tumblr media
Shelley Winters:
Tumblr media
started her career as more of a glamorous bombshell type and gradually transitioned to more of a (milfy as hell) character actress type but consistently slayed no matter what she was doing

one of my favorite moments from the 2016 Doom game is where Doom Guy is fucking up some of the tech in order to beat the demons, and he takes care to save the AI assistent connected to it. A lot of characters who aren't hyperviolent killing machines wouldn't have been written as valuing the life of an AI enough to save it, but Doom Guy does, and that's great
Oh, yeah. As Hyperviolent Manly Men go, Doomguy is one of the most sincerely, genuinely heroic. Not just in terms of "Great man doing great thing" but he genuinely cares about others. His relationship with Daisy and the fact that he's doing all this for his precious bun-bun is funny, but also a demonstration of his big heart.
Doomguy cares so much.
One of Doomguy's biggest standout moments to me is midway through Doom 2. Humanity is trying to escape the overrun Earth but the demons have a barrier stopping them. Someone has to stay behind. Doomguy doesn't even consider getting on that ship; He blazes a one-man trail into their base and opens the barrier so that the rest of humanity can escape, then sits down and waits to die.
He legitimately tries to sacrifice himself for the good of the world. And the only reason it doesn't take is because someone transmits the location of the demon portal to him, and he decides to go down swinging instead. And then fails at that successfully.
Doomguy is genuinely a protector. He gets mad at people who do dumb shit like trying to harvest energy from Hell and put everyone else at risk. He is frequently uncooperative, listening to what others tell him but deciding on his own initiative what to do with their advice or instructions. But his ultimate endgoal is to close the Hell portals, make the demons go away, and save the world.
Preferably with himself on the other side of said portals so he can continue to have justice for Daisy.
Also, fun fact, he's Jewish. Doomguy is descended from Wolfenstein's Hyperviolent Manly Man B.J. Blazkowicz, who single-handedly killed the entire Nazi army and then shot up Hitler. I just think that's neat.

Small rant about colonialism and Israel's genocidal campaign
The fact that people continue to support Israel when there are PICTURES of what the hell is happening in Gaza disgusts me.
A four-day ceasefire isn't enough, it needs to be a permanent ceasefire.
I don't even want to think about what will happen when the ceasefire ends...
The dead children, the mothers, the fathers, the sisters, the brothers, the friends...
And then the videos and photographs of the civilians..
All the heartbreaking images I seen, it's permanently in my mind.
"Oh but Hamas-"
SHUT YOUR GODDAMN MOUTH YOU GENOCIDE-LOVING MANIAC!
PALESTINE ISN'T HAMAS, CIVILIANS AREN'T HAMAS, GAZA ISN'T HAMAS, THE WEST BANK ISN'T HAMAS!
A MAJORITY OF GAZA'S POPULATION WERE CHILDREN WHEN HAMAS GOT IN POWER! AND A MAJORITY OF GAZA'S POPULATION ARE STILL CHILDREN!
Just admit you like watching innocent children die you fucking monsters.
"Palestinians are like Nazis!"
NO THEY FUCKING AREN'T! KINDNESS IS A HUGE PART OF PALESTINIAN CULTURE!
PALESTINE DIDN'T ATTACK FIRST WHEN THE JEWISH PEOPLE ARRIVED, IT WAS ISRAEL THAT ATTACKED FIRST!
IN ALMOST EVERY SINGLE PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTEST I HAVE SEEN THEY KICKED NAZIS OUT BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO BE AROUND NAZIS!
PALESTINIANS. ARE. NOT. NAZIS!
"From the river to the sea Israel will be free."
"Free Israel."
FREE ISRAEL FROM WHAT? THE MAP!?
ISRAEL DOESN'T NEED TO BE FUCKING FREED FROM ANYTHING EXCEPT FROM THOSE GENOCIDAL RIGHT-WINGS!
"Oh so you're an anti-Semitic person because you support Palestine!"
I AM SPEAKING OUT AGAINST GENOCIDE! HOW DOES THAT MAKE ME ANTI-SEMITIC!?
And then there's Israel's propaganda.
What a ton of bullshit.
Creating a fake website and claiming it's an official Hamas website that will cause a virus on devices to try to justify genocide? Bullshit.
Using A.I generated images to make it seem like people are supporting Israel? More bullshit.
Using dentures and implants and claim that it's the teeth of children? Bullshit. And let's not forget that dentists pointed out that it was dentures and implants, and that those didn't look like the teeth of children.
All the attempts to try to get people to sympathize with Israel have been bullshit.
The only thing Israel has succeeded in is showing their ass to the world.
Fuck America, fuck the U.K, and fuck Israel.
"What does the U.K have to do with this?"
Clearly we're forgetting that for a time the U.K was colonizing Palestine, after WWI they took it over as a "mandate".
"Palestine colonized Israel first!"
I'd like to see your source for that. Clearly you never paid attention in history. Palestine never colonized Israel.
I will never support Israel or any nation that funds their genocide. I will never listen to people who try to "justify" Israel's genocide. I will always stand with Palestine.

Actually, you know what? No. I'm going to fucking force y'all to keep seeing the hostage rescue because it deserves to be appreciated. You should be HAPPY these men are home, that they were rescued from the depths of hell where Islamic terrorists dragged them. If you don't want to be shown the Jewish nation's love for our people, then you can just block me.
Listen to how excited the soldiers are at having found and rescued two hostages. This is coming after the recent discussion around how many hostages are realistically still alive, where the numbers were depressingly low.

I just can't
So leftist want all Jews dead because they label them as white (most of them) and quite a few people on the right actually think Jews are controlling the world and want them dead.
I don't fucking understand this. I really don't I do not get the "Jews are actually destroying the world and are puppeteering in the shadows" mentality. the same as I don't understand the History illiterate people who think Jewish people are not native to the Israel.
No really prove it. You can't. OH WOW some people in positions of power around the world HAPPEN to be Jewish. Ok......so what? What's your point. That's the same mentality of, "Some black people commit crime, therefore they must ALL commit crime." And yes it is exactly the same. And yes I see you leftists. You think Jewish people are all just these white landlords who are trying to take away poor "poc" peoples homes. Sorry shithead. No. Palestinians are not defendant of Philistines. WE KNOW they aren't. AND even if they were. Jews lived in that region even before they did.
I do not get this Leftists and Far Right hate of Jews. I really don't. It makes zero sense. I'm in servers in discord that talk about things like DEI, and current day issues and when I get in VC, or listen to certain people talk or hint, they are all trying to say that "The issue is Jews". HOW EXACTLY!?!? WEF is not headed by some "Jewish Cabal". There's no "conspiracy" where all Jews just have this INSTALLED SOFTWARE where they are like, "Ya know, I want to destroy every country, I want to rule from the shadows, and I just love flooding nations with those not of their ethnic groups".
WTF. No really WHAT THE EVER LOVING FUCK! I can't get away from this shit. It's insane to me that leftists and far right all seem to believe the most insane conspiracies about Jewish people and I legit DO NOT understand. Dear Far Right, the idea that "A few Jewish people are in positions of power and doing stupid things. Therefore all Jews are the problem" is quite literally no different AT ALL than the Leftist view of, "White people have owned slaves period, they will never be able to repent. Henceforth are all evil." IT'S THE SAME FUCKING MINDSET!
And Leftists. LEARN ACTUAL FUCKING HISTORY. And maybe stop viewing all groups you hate as "White" or "White adjacent". Stop viewing Jewish people through the lense of "Landowners" and "Rich people". You are literally participating in the same Nazi rhetoric Hitler did. You are no better than the far right.
What the fuck is wrong with the world. What? The Bible called Jews god's chosen and now the whole world just wants to just delete them? I'm not even religious but fucking hell. What the FUCK.
Mutuals. Follows. Please if you know anything I ask you weigh in on this. If I tag you don't feel obligated to respond. I'd just like your opinion on this. Because I respect your opinions.

The truth about Tim Miller:
A gay man whose world view led him to become a lifelong Republican has the political acumen of a Jewish man who becomes a Nazi.
But it's even worse than that: it's like a Jewish man who helped build the Nazi party. That type of person can never be one of the faces of the Democratic party because he'll never understand it. And honestly, how could he?
To be part of a persecuted minority but find your identity in an alliance with the persecutors? You're unable to grasp any kind of reality that exists outside of whiteness. Whiteness is going to always come first.
And after you spent a decade being Frankenstein, your Republican monster inevitably chased you to the only other game in town: the Democratic party.
Because the GOP never really stood for anything but racism, sexism, and chasing power, and because there's no culture, no values, and no soul, a totally insane lying lunatic was able to swoop in and demagogue his way into ruling the party with an iron fist.
And I get it, you're gay, and now your allies wants to destroy the lives of everyone like you while being happy to use you to further those ends. It's untenable. But instead of putting up a fight and trying to save your party, you go to where the grass is bluer.
One problem: the Democratic party has a soul and it's name is the BLACK VOTER.
Where you wouldn't fight for your party? We will. Where you wouldn't guard your party from demagouges? We do. We don't have the caucasity to assume that we'll be alright. We're not white. It's always existential for us. We can never take our political power for granted.
That's why when you were grooming your party to fall victim to Trump, Bernie Sanders was over here falling flat on his face. Hillary built with us. Biden spent his whole life with us. They have equity. If you want anything over here in Dem land? You need us. Being a former Republican, you have no idea how we work because YOUVE NEVER HAD TO LISTEN TO US.
I'll get to how I know YOU, Tim Miller, have never listened to us in just a second.
That's also why we kill off culture vultures. We're so sensitive to anyone who wants anyone who wants to use us for their gain when we know they'll never get in the trenches with us. And we see it coming a mile away.
That's why we never fall for Trump scams in trying to astroturf black support. Not only does our life depend on us seeing through it, we're disgusted by it.
Now you've abandoned your party. Despite all the money you've made grifting off the party, you have one bad day in your new Democratic life, and now you're trying to rally us to abandon our decades long investment in Joe Biden because he needed a nap, a Joe Biden who beat Trump when you losers couldnt, and you are flumoxed as to why we won't give up like you.
It's because you don't belong here. You have no equity. You haven't built anything with us. You've never been in the trenches. You're not in touch with us. You don't know the community. And more than anything, you don't have the first clue about Black culture.
And in the past 3 days, with endless Black people, specifically Black women, telling you you're wrong, you have no idea what you're talking about, and that you need to LISTEN to Black people, your every response has been the white privileged casually racist response of "I know the Black community better than you."
You don't.
Hell, the idea of representation never even occurred to you until you adopted a Black kid and you're walking through the toy aisle and couldn't find any black dolls. If you couldn't grasp that until it was forced upon you, what makes you think you know us better than we know ourselves? We've been black our whole lives.
And how do I know you'll NEVER have a place in our party?
759.8K
You adopted a little Black girl and still don't even bother to listen to Black women, let one Black people.
In the words of Kendrick Lamar: You're not a colleague. You're a fucking colonizer.

im so tired of having to defend myself on both sides
like. ok. i'm queer right. bi, demigender, aro, etc. also you know a girl, demi or not. all the time i have to defend myself from american christians who via mistranslations and misinterpretations spread by horrible leaders for generations have been led into a cult-like hierarchy that tells them to hate me when hate for us isn't in their book or supposed to be in their ways.
i'm also "christian". i hesitate to use the full term because of how bad american christianity has gotten. but i believe in the same god nontheless. every day i feel i have to defend myself from queer people as well
like. i so get it. as i have just established american and european christianity has gotten so fucked up and literally off-script that i'm shocked we haven't gotten another 95 thesis and a completely new branch. it's awful horrible and people who believe in such ideas should not be in power. to the point where calling myself a christian feels wrong. at least in america.
i need ya'll to have some nuance.
firstly the understanding that those who hate queer people, non-white people in any form, women, whatever else. isn't even in the text they follow. people have misused it since it was written. preaching just the verse saying wives should care for their husbands and not the one right after saying husbands should love their wives. taking out verses referring to god's "womb." about adam might not even being a man, as in, more likely nonbinary, the verse about david getting an errection when hugging johnathan. changing verses about cleanliness into women and men not wearing the same cloths. changing verses about cultural codes and allowing a world where people have to resort to prositution into verses condemning homosexuality. [X]
like. you know the matrix. was written as a trans metaphor. then a bunch of alpha sigma grindset rich white boys took it and appropriated it, misinterpreted it, used it to boost themselves and hurt women. it's like that. those people don't make the matrix a bad movie, they just don't know it's a trans metaphor. and trans people who enjoy the matrix are like. normal and cool.
as you can see i am passionate about this. i have all this stuff memorized not only to defend my queerness but my christianity as im doing now.
there are queer christians. there are certainly poc christians as right now, south america and south africa have the highest christian populations, to the point where they're sending missionaries to america.
again i'm asking for some nuance. when i see posts basically saying "the christian god is dumb" or "satan was right actually" and blantent misinformation about what the bible says. like those kind of posts hurt my heart. my god made me queer and loves me for it, i believe in a kind god, most good christians do. i feel like other religions don't get this treatment and it's just to spiritually piss off your catholic parents.
speaking of, in doing so you seem to forget about other abrahamic religions.
i once saw a post criticizing something directly from the old testament, out of context of course. saying god was cruel and the belives were flawed and all this due to one verse. people tend to forget, or not know, that the "old testament" is the tenoch. slightly different book order, same writings.
christians, muslims, jewish people, worship the same god. different names for god, some god, same base. if you make jokes about christianty willy-nilly, you're going to accidentally hit someone else. and even if you don't, you may hurt someone still.
it doesn't hurt because i think it's "sacrilegious" or i think you're going to hell. it hurts because my community doesn't care. my community doesn't see the nuance in people and decided a specific religion is the enemy. a specific group of people is the enemy. ive been marked as the enemy
it's casual jokes to you, to me it's making fun of my god
listen, by all means make fun of the assholes. i make fun of them every day. millionaires who use privet jets than preach and love to overlook the many verses condemning the rich and saying rich people don't go to heaven. people saying that as a woman of god you shouldn't enjoy sex. weirdos online and irl that seem to think patorizing random people will get them to church. dumb white people. it's great. fuckn. mormons and jehovah's witness leaders who are straight up running a cult based on a thread of the original intention. and it's funny because they're the assholes.
but don't attack the base religion itself. understand that the religion isn't inherently harmful, certain branches, beliefs, misinterpretations, and leaders certainly are. but please be kind to the people who are normal
before you make a post saying you're gonna. i dont know 'kill the uncaring god' that you're hurting people like me, any abrahamic religion, anyone who believes in a god possibly. also that's basically my parent, it's like you're insulting my awesome mom to my face bc my older sibling sucks. like thats just mean to her for no reason.
i'm just. tired. im stuck in the middle and i hate that i have to make this post because like. this is my home and my people and im tired of seeing this shit from my peers and family. just. have nuance. care about people. don't just say shit about a religion if you don't know its true.
im tired.

genuinely what the fuck
why does everyone have a thing against Jewish people gee’s, I just like the way the blog is set up and the Jewish history fun facts.
And what the hell are you on about? Also your reply was blocked by the censors. (I had to go on my alt to see what you said) and Rightfully so. But what the fuck man.
and
Tumblr media
Also @nightmaretour since when??? No genuinely curious about this!
as almost all people I know who are either mentally ill or well autistic/adhd/the other ones happily use the term, and it’s a proper term in like laws and shit.
so I’d appreciate a follow up thank you.
sorry for my responses I didn’t actually understand you at all, I had to highlight the message just now to finally get it.
Again I do have learning disabilities I can’t read everything exactly correctly, it’s why I’m disabled by it lol.
(Hi talking to an actual person with severe learning disabilities here! I Could not read until I was 10, could not write until I was 14, and couldn’t write a coherent sentence until I was 16. So please keep in mind)
most of the resources and my entire life I’ve only ever heard it used for mentally ill people and such, and for people with neurodevelopmental disorders like me since I’m also autistic, I didn’t know it was offensive sorry/srs
I’m still pretty new to all this stuff, I’m pretty used to being the one talked about, not the one talking.
who listens to people with learning disabilities and actually doesn’t call them slurs, sure as hell not been my experiences.
I was basically severely abused academically and verbally, and just this stuff is new to me.
I haven’t had much of a chance to get into learning disability culture since I was pretty isolated.
and if you @nightmaretour are taking the side of @blachernaepalace please do not interact since they are awful, and I am not bringing in I/P politics to this blog unless it directly relates to ableism.
and it does not right now.
I will be reporting @blachernaepalace comments as they are actually antisemitic, and it was horribly rude and derailing to voice those comments.
@spot-the-antisemitism
please do your thing

“Remember, kids, if you’ve got a racist grandparent who espouses negative views toward an entire group of people, then you’d better listen to them because they’re right! Some entire groups of people are just collectively evil and can never be trusted!” - Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken
If there’s no discourse about this now, then I suspect there will be soon once more people see or hear about this movie because good lord. For those who don’t get it, the context is that in the film the main character Ruby discovers that she’s actually kraken royalty and this of course creates generational angst between her and her mother and grandmother because everything’s gotta have generational angst in it these days. She is told by her grandmother that mermaids, the long-time enemies of the krakens, are all evil and untrustworthy sirens who manipulate people and seek domination over humans. Ruby also befriends a mermaid named Chelsea, who specifically calls attention to this feud between the two species and specifically says that she wants to put a stop to it with Ruby’s help. And so Ruby naturally says “screw your bigotry, Grandma; I’m standing by my friend even if she’s a mermaid”.
......Which leads to the inevitable third act “reveal” that Chelsea was actually manipulating Ruby the whole time in order to acquire a source of power, doesn’t actually desire peace between the species, and just wants to assert domination over humans as is her kind’s wont.
Look, if the bullshit about krakens and mermaids was not present in the movie, then despite what a hackneyed obvious “twist villain” scenario this is I still would have accepted it because it would just be an isolated incident between two individuals. Without the species feud, you could just freely respect Ruby for having such an open heart and positive nature, and freely hate Chelsea for remorselessly taking advantage of that for her own self-serving agenda.
But because this occurs against this specific backdrop, the movie is flat-out saying that racism is justified and that the teen protagonist should’ve listened to her racist grandmother! All mermaids ARE evil, untrustworthy sirens who manipulate people and seek domination over humans, and Ruby was a total dumbass to dare to believe otherwise about Chelsea!
Imagine if in The Little Mermaid, Ariel is exposed as a mermaid, Prince Eric immediately reacts with disgust before he and his followers harpoon her to death before cooking and eating her bottom half. Guess King Triton was right, all humans are heartless barbarians!
Or imagine if in Luca, the townspeople accept all of the sea monsters at the end, only for the sea monsters to murder them all in their sleep and lay waste to the town. Guess all those fearful superstitions about sea monsters were accurate and should have been listened to!
Or imagine if in Zootopia....oh heck, do I even need to give this example?
If you think I’m overreacting here, then just swap everything said about mermaids in the movie and replace “mermaid” with “Jew”. Chelsea’s Jewish now. Ruby has the audacity to believe that her Jewish friend isn’t some heinous caricature made of her people, only to learn that actually that caricature is spot-on, so from now on she will never trust a Jew again and will accept her position defending humanity against the evil Jews. Sounds fucking horrible when I put it that way, doesn’t it? I recently said that it’s a good thing that kids have recently been getting more stories calling out how wrong prejudice is, so to see a movie aimed at kids that is actively justifying and encouraging prejudice is mind-blowing in the worst way possible. Who the Hell signed off on this? Did nobody stop to consider the unfortunate implications? Did they think making Chelsea a caricature of a pretty, popular, two-faced Mean Girl justified applying that characterization to her entire species? Or was this Jeffrey Katzenburg being a petty bitch (again) over the fact that The Little Mermaid was being remade without him and he just wanted to stick it to Disney? Whatever the case, I’d recommend giving this movie a pass.

“‘from the river to the sea’ is not antisemitic, it’s about palestinians taking back their indigenous homelands from the evil oppressive (((israelis))) and kicking out the dirty (((zionist colonizers)))! taking the Jews’ side here is like siding with the white european settlers who stole and colonialized the united states from native/indigenous americans. you wouldn’t be mad at an Indigenous person for killing their colonizers, would you? israel needs to give the land to palestinians and leave, which will free them from those nasty jewish settlers.”
so jews aren’t native to israel? where the fuck are we supposed to go (which is what zionism actually means, not that anyone would or does actually give a shit)? why are we not good enough to live on the land we came from, and how the hell do you know who it originally and rightly belongs to? moreover who gives you the right to decide?
It’s a false equivalency made to manipulate naive “activist leftists” (a group which I used to consider myself a member of, not anymore) who are too afraid to form a complex opinion on their own and default to what they think is “rooting for the underdog”. They think they’re progressive but they are, and have been the exact same people to say “wow those dirty jews are being really mean to poor little germany right now, fuck those guys. Thank goodness someone is finally standing up to those monsters.” that’s not even a hypothetical fyi that is a stance I have actually seen posted recently. Sorry but personally I think if you’ve ever thought or said “maybe the nazis were right” then you should automatically have to turn in your “leftist card” or whatever. like, oh my god listen to yourself right now. it’s embarrassing and scary as hell. I hope they still have the courage to leave those posts up when the Simon Wiesenthal Center does a 21st century nazi hunt once this war is over.

A Newsroom Reunion
Title – A Newsroom Reunion
Pairings – Y/N&Jensen
Word Count – 3,970
Warnings – war crimes, depictions of torture (just in case)
Prompt – Journalist(s)
A Jewish reporter goes to Israel to cover the Israeli/Gaza war and gets taken hostage live on air in front of her boyfriend, who is anchoring the news. She's kept hostage for weeks, with no information on whether she's dead or alive being given back to her station, and her boyfriend is beyond panicked about her safety. One night, she gets rescued in a trade: American hostages for Hamas soldiers. How will her boyfriend react when she is brought back to the studio after being gone for so long, a prisoner of war?
Tumblr media
“If anyone is going to know what the hell is going on over there, Eric, it’s me. I’ve been inundated with this shit since I was a child. If we are going to cover this, we need to make sure we cover this correctly and not like these other media hacks who are acting like this is a brand-new war,” Y/N said, pacing in front of his desk with her hands on her hips. Eric followed her with his eyes, confusion coloring his expression.
“What do you mean?” he asked her. She scoffed as she shot him a look, continuing her path back and forth.
“Israel and Palestine’s governments have been duking it out over land forever. I think the last negotiation back in… I think it was in 2010 when it was not accepted because Jerusalem wasn’t included in the Palestinian portion. Still, it was one of the best land distribution deals Israel had ever offered them. But that’s the key point. It’s not the people who are fighting; it’s the governments. Most of the people have been living peacefully amongst each other for decades. The people want peace,” Y/N ranted in one long breath. She then stopped and turned to face the news director face-on with narrowed eyes. “Hamas is a terrorist organization that is killing everybody: Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike. Hell, they are killing their people! They are using the Palestinians as human fucking shields and teaching the children that Jews are evil and need to be murdered.”
Eric was quiet for a long time as he considered her words, and when he finally spoke, his voice was low and concerned.
“Your fiancé isn’t going to like it.”
“It isn’t his choice to make.”
“Are you trying to prove something?”
“This is work, it’s not personal.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m sure! I want to cover this, and you know as well as I do I’m the best one to do it.”
Eric went quiet again for a long moment before sighing.
“Alright, fine. But you explain it to Jensen.”
Tumblr media
“It’s been almost three fucking weeks since anyone has heard from her, Eric, don’t tell me to calm down!” Jensen shouted at his news director. The entire newsroom at CNN pretended to ignore them while listening to the argument that had been occurring and growing in intensity every day since their lead reporter… their lead Jewish reporter… went missing while covering the Israel/Hamas crisis.
“We are working on a solution to getting her out of there, but it takes time,” Eric explained with exaggerated calmness.
“That’s not good enough! Do we even know if she’s alive?” Jensen asked, pounding his fist into a nearby desk. Eric opened his mouth to say something to calm his lead anchor down but closed it, knowing nothing he had said could. The truth was, he had no idea if she was alive or not because despite what they were hearing about Hamas treating hostages humanely… there was zero proof of that.
“Jensen,” Eric said, his voice low and controlled. Said Anchor roughly, running his hands over his face and shaking his head.
“I know how good of a reporter she is, and I know she’d beat my ass for saying this, but that doesn’t mean she should have been sent there. You know she was spoiling for a fight.”
Y/N was standing before the camera wearing a bulletproof vest with the word PRESS across her jeans and polo shirt. She wore a helmet with CNN’s logo on her head. She knew that helmet would do nothing to protect her skull from damage should a rocket land near her. Jensen knew it, too.
Around her neck was a thin gold chain and a Star of David charm he gave her on their second anniversary. He begged her not to wear anything remotely Jewish over there, but she said she was going to represent her religion and her culture and tell the true story of the war. She had it around her neck when she kissed him goodbye at the airport before walking through the security checkpoint. She had it around her neck the last time she was seen on the air.
Before she even finished her live shot for the evening news, Hamas terrorists were there. They grabbed her, knocking off her CNN helmet and yanking on her arm. The camera was still rolling as they shouted at her in Arabic. She tried to pull away from the man yanking on her, yelling at them that she was a reporter. She turned toward the translator with them and shouted at him to translate what she was saying.
Back in the United States, Jensen and the rest of the staff of CNN watched in horror as Hamas dragged Y/N away from the camera and shoved her into a waiting vehicle. Jensen started shouting at the screen, saying things like she was American and a member of the Press; they couldn’t do this to her. The terrorists couldn’t hear him. No one other than the people in the studio could listen to him, not that it mattered. The car had already driven away, and she was already gone.
“Never should have sent her out there,” Jensen muttered, leaning on one of the tables.
“You weren’t going to stop her,” Eric said with a sad smile. “She was going to find a way to get out there and cover this war regardless of whether we sent her.”
“Hey, Jensen!” Katie called out as she walked over to where they were standing.
“What!?” he snapped at her, turning her head to the side to glance at her. Katie paused, her eyes growing wide as she stumbled a little bit. She had never been on the receiving end of his temper before.
“Yuh… You’re uh… you’re needed on… on set… in 10,” she stuttered, her voice much more subdued and quieter than her usual perky, cheerful self. She then immediately turned and walked away as fast as she could, heading toward the producer desks with a glance over her shoulder at him. Jensen turned his head forward and closed his eyes, a curse muttered under his breath.
“You need to get your shit together. You can’t just snap at AP’s because you’re worried about Y/N. We all are, but we also have a job to do. She’d be furious if she knew you were acting like this,” Eric reprimanded under his breath, so no one realized that he was disciplining his lead anchor in public.
“I know,” he muttered guiltily, running a hand over his face before rubbing it over his hair and neck. “I’m just scared out of my mind and hate feeling this helpless.”
“We’re gonna get her back,” Eric said, touching Jensen’s shoulder. “Have a little faith. Go get ready to get on air.”
Tumblr media
Y/N had no idea how long it had been since she had been taken, only that she was exhausted, hungry, and desperately wanted something to drink. She was given very little food and only had one glass of putrid water daily. Her clothing, which was nothing but rags at this point, was hanging off her body. Her shoes were long gone, and her feet were cut up in various places as she was forced to walk barefoot across the burning, sharp stones.
She was sore. There was a cut on her mouth from where she was backhanded by one of the Hamas soldiers when she mouthed off to one of them, another above her eyebrow for struggling when they came into her cell. Her eye was black, her stomach hurt, and her muscles ached from lack of nutrients.
Loud voices speaking in Arabic started shouting just outside her small room. Y/N startled, trying to shrink closer into the corner she was sitting in. Wide eyes watched as arguing men walked over to her room, one of which was unlocking the door. Someone shouted at her in Arabic, and she sat staring at the man. He repeated it, louder and angrier, but she shook her head slowly. With frustration, he walked over to her and grabbed her arm. He yanked her up to standing and shoved her out the door.
“No, no, please,” she begged with a rough voice. Another man grabbed her arms behind her, slipping her hands through rope and tying them tightly.
“Whatever is happening, please don’t hurt me,” she muttered, shaking her head as tears flooded her eyes. With a man on each of her sides holding tightly to an arm, Y/N was dragged out of the building and toward a waiting car. Shoved not so gently into the back seat, the door was slammed behind her. When she looked up, she saw another American there.
“What’s happening?” she whispered. The man sitting there shook his head.
“I don’t know. Are you hurt?” he asked, his voice scratchy.
“No, not really.” Y/N moved herself to a seated position and looked out the window. She was jolted awake over an hour later when the car stopped moving. She hadn’t even realized she had fallen asleep.
“What’s going on? Where are we?” she asked, her voice still just a whisper. The man in the car with her shook his head. Suddenly, her door flew open, and she was yanked out of the car. The man shouted after her, but the same happened to him moments later. They were dragged around to the front of the vehicle and shoved toward a patch of grass. More Arabic shouted at them, guns drawn and pointed at them until they were standing on the green grass. Once there, they returned to their vehicles and drove away.
The four Americans looked at each other, wondering what to do next, when a string of Jeeps bearing the Israeli Defense Foundation insignia pulled up. The relief that flooded Y/N at that moment brought her to her knees, and she began to sob.
“They didn’t even untie their hands, those filthy bastards,” she heard one of the soldiers with a thick Israeli accent mutter as they came closer to them. One of them came up to her, placing a hand on her shoulder as another one went to the ropes behind her back and began to untie her hands.
“Are you alright? Here, has some water,” she said, holding a bottle of cold water. Y/N looked up, her tear-streaked face looking into the kind eyes of a young Israeli soldier. She held the bottle to Y/N’s mouth and let her drink a bit before pulling it away. “Only a little; you don’t want to be sick.” Once her hands were free, the other soldier approached her opposite side.
“Come, let us help you up and get you someplace safe. You have many people worried about you,” the kind Israeli soldier said. They each took one of Y/N’s arms and helped her stand and walk to one of the waiting Jeeps.
Tumblr media
“With the latest on the Israeli/Hamas conflict, we head into the newsroom to our correspondent Jared Padalecki. Jared,” Jensen read off the prompter. Jared nodded his head with a somber expression.
“We have just learned moments ago that Hamas has released four American hostages, however, the identities of those hostages are currently unknown,” Jared said as he referred to information he was looking at on a computer.
Jensen’s eyes lit up at the comment, his heart picking up its pace. Hostages have been released.
“What we do know is the four hostages are American and were taken during the early days of the conflict,” Jared continued. “As you know, CNN’s Y/N Y/L/N was taken hostage from assignment during an air raid near the Erez Crossing. CNN has been in negotiations with Hamas for the safe release of Y/L/N but with no success yet.”
Jensen’s breathing ticked up a notch, his eyes bouncing between the monitor showing Jared, his report, and the camera. He knew Eric was in the control room, monitoring the show from the booth tonight. He knew Eric was monitoring him from the booth tonight.
Jensen shook his head as he glanced down at his hands, wanting nothing more than to jump up from his seat and call every contact he knew to find out if Y/N was among the four rescued Americans. There were four chances that Y/N were among the rescued hostages, and he could have her back in his arms any day now.
Jo, the female anchor for the evening, reached over and squeezed his hand. He looked over at her with red-lined eyes. She gave him a hopeful look before retreating to her seat.

A few days later -
Y/N watched the elevator numbers change slowly, shifting her weight back and forth between her feet. Her arms were wrapped around her middle as if they were holding herself together. Her hair was dirty despite multiple showers at the hospital she was taken to, and then she was debriefed at the military base, so she pulled it back into a messy bun on the top of her head. Whisps and strands fell around her face and down her back anyway. Her skin was sunburnt: her cheeks and nose were bright red, and her lips were chapped despite the heavy layers of ChapStick she had been wearing since the hospital. The cuts to her lip and eyebrow were still healing, but the black eye was still dark and swollen.
They gave her a pair of worn jeans that belonged to someone who worked on the base and an oversized T-shirt that fell to her knees. She took a pair of scissors to the T-shirt, slicing up the side and knotting it at her hip. Military-issue boots adorned her feet.
She was tired and still hungry despite the food she was given. She was still thirsty despite countless bottles of fresh, cold water she had drank. And this? This was the slowest elevator ride ever.
The two Marines escorting her had been kind the entire time they were with her. Making sure she had enough water and whether she wanted any more food. She was always asking her about her comfort. She asked one of them if they had any advice on how to make the nightmares stop so she could get some sleep. He had smiled in a reflective, sad way and told her that time was the only way. She didn’t speak much after that.
When the elevator finally opened on the 18th floor, she walked out and looked around the newsroom for someone she knew. When her eyes landed on a television and saw that Jensen was on air, she realized just how late it was. Without thinking about it, she slowly made her way toward the studio. That’s when the whispers began around her, but she ignored them. She had one thing on her mind at that moment.
“Ma’am, do you know where you are heading to?” one of the Marines asked gently. Nodding, Y/N reached over and grabbed the handle of the heavy door that led to the studio.
“Y/N!?” a voice called out in surprise. She turned her head toward the voice, staring blankly at Meg. “Oh, my God… Y/N…”  Meg started to go over to where the tired woman was, but Y/N shook her head.
“I’m seeing Jensen first. I don’t care if he’s on the air,” she whispered roughly, her eyes watering. She gave the producer a broken smile, then pulled the door open.
“Oh, my God,” Meg repeated, watching as Y/N entered the studio with two dressed Marines following her. Suddenly, she snapped out of her stupor and turned, shouting as she ran to the booth. “Katie!! Find Eric and tell him to get his ass to the booth! Y/N’s back, and she’s about to interrupt the newscast!” Katie was startled, confusion coloring her face.
“What?”
“Now, Katie!” Meg shouted as she ran down the long hallway to the production booth, where a crew was putting the show on air. She threw the door open, startling the people inside.
“What the fuck, Meg!” the director shouted at her, looking at the well-liked executive producer like she was crazy.
“Whatever is about to happen, stay with it. Y/N’s about to reunite with Jensen on air right now!” she shouted, walking over to the producer's seat. She pushed the producer out of the way, holding out her hand. “Gimme your headset, gimme gimme gimme”
Y/N slowly made her way around the long wooden wall that made up the set's backdrop and turned the corner into the room. Lights above them angled toward a large desk centered in front of the backdrop, and cameras with people manning them were also pointed at the desk. Y/N didn’t see any of it. Once she spotted Jensen, she made her way to stand in his sightline. The water gathering in her eyes started to fall as she stared at her fiancé.
He was studying the paper scripts in front of him, a pen in his hand. He made some notes in the margins of the paper. Suddenly, he frowned and moved to hold a button down before he spoke.
“Whatever it is, Meg, it can wait,” he snapped, letting go of the button and returning to his notes. A small smile danced on Y/N’s lips, the movement feeling foreign. He repeated the action a moment later, snapping at the producer again.
“Jensen,” she tried to say, but it came out as a whisper. Dropping her head, she tried to clear her throat, swallowed, and then looked up again… into the vast green eyes of her fiancé. He was staring at her in disbelief, his breath almost nonexistent.
“Jen,” she muttered roughly, quietly.
“Y/N?” Jensen asked in disbelief, moving slowly: he stood, reaching into his ear to pull out his earpiece simultaneously. The second time, he said her name was stronger. “Y/N?”  She nodded a small smile on her lips, tears making their way down her face. That’s when his restraint broke. He moved around the desk and to her in three steps, wrapping her in his arms.
“Thank you, God,” he muttered as he held her as close to him as he could get, one arm wrapped around her, the other pressed against her neck. Once Jensen’s arms were wrapped around her, and her arms were wrapped around him, she began to cry.
“I thought I was never going to see you again,” she whispered, pressing herself as close to him as possible. He pulled back slightly and gently brushed her tears away with his thumbs before pressing his mouth to hers in a gentle but passionate kiss.
“I love you so much,” he breathed once they separated.
“I love you,” she repeated, pressing her lips back on his. They separated and stared into each other’s eyes for a long moment before Jensen pulled her back into his arms, relishing the feeling of her being there again.
“I’m never letting you go on assignment again.”
“I’m okay with that,” she said with a smile, looking up at him, her face wet with tears. She looked tired and beaten up, dressed in clothing that wasn’t hers and didn’t fit her, and it was the best thing Jensen had ever seen.
Moving carefully to wrap his arm around her shoulders, Jensen led them out of the studio and back into the newsroom. Once there, the entire room erupted in cheers, causing Y/N to flinch and pull away. One of the Marines with them immediately took control of the situation and moved forward to quiet down the cheering friends.
“What’s wrong? Are you alright?” Jensen asked quickly, his voice laced with panic. Y/N shook her head frantically as she pulled away, trying to back away from him. The other Marine who was with them gently removed Jensen from her side and began to speak quietly to the frightened woman who was on the verge of a panic attack.
“Take a breath, ma’am. You’re in New York now, not Gaza. Close your eyes and pay attention to your surroundings. Notice that the air smells different here. Things feel different here…”
It took almost ten minutes, but soon, Y/N could open her eyes and breathe normally again. At some point, she had made it onto the floor. She looked to the Marine apologetically and shook her head, looking away. She rubbed her hand over her chest and held back a sob.
“Hey, we talked about this. It’s going to take a while. Finding a good therapist to help you work through the trauma is going to be necessary, but having friends and family here to help you is a great first step,” the Marine said, kneeling next to her. Jensen came up next to her, finally being allowed to approach her. “We didn’t warn anyone about your aversion to loud sounds like we had discussed doing, so it’s expected that this would have happened.”
“Is she okay?” Jensen asked quietly, kneeling. He placed a hand on her shoulder.
“She will be. Right?” Y/N nodded slowly, accepting the hands to help her stand. She looked over at the group of people watching anxiously.
“There’s a lot of people who want to see you,” Jensen said quietly, looking back into the newsroom. Everyone stood and looked on worriedly. “You think you can handle that?” Y/N nodded and made her way over. Moments later, they swarmed her in a group hug.
“Are you the gentlemen who brought our Y/N back to us?” Eric asked, approaching the two Marines standing near them. The Marines turned to face the news director, and one nodded.
“We escorted her here as she requested,” he answered. “She was held there the longest and experienced the worst of the abuse. I’m the Chaplain of the Navy, Captain Mathew Davis, and this is Lieutenant William Arnold.” Eric held his hand out, which the Marine shook.
“Thank you for bringing her home.”
“Just doing our job.”
“You did more than that, trust me,” Eric said, shaking the other man’s hand. The two Marines nodded, then turned and left the building.
“I wanna go home. Can we go home, Jen?” Y/N asked softly, looking up at her fiancé with tired eyes. Jensen looked down at her, pressing his lips to her forehead.
“Of course. Let’s get you home,” he muttered. Eric watched the couple stand and turn.
“Take a few weeks off, Jen,” he said, causing Jensen to turn and look at him. “I’ll send you the contact information of a good therapist. You both should go. We’ll talk next week sometime.”
“Thanks, Eric,” Jensen said with a soft smile, his arm wrapped around the most crucial thing in his life. Eric’s eyes drifted down to his star reporter, recognizing the look of trauma all too well.
“You have no idea how glad I am you made it out of there, kid,” Eric said quietly. Jensen looked down at Y/N and moved his arm as she hugged Eric. Eric closed his eyes and held her tighter, kissing her temple.
“Thanks, Uncle Eric,” she whispered before pulling away. Eric brushed some hair from Y/N’s face, causing her to smile softly before curling back under Jensen’s arm.
“Get out of here. I’ll come by this weekend, and we can talk more then,” Eric said. Jensen nodded, pulling Y/N with him.
“I’m never letting you go,” Jensen whispered to her hair as he kissed her head, guiding her to the elevator. Y/N laid her head on his chest and sighed.
“I’m holding you to it.”

Okay one thing I keep see coming up when people say that the genocide of Palestinians is bad is demands of what those same people think the solution to the Palestine/Israeli territory issue should be
"what do you want the Israeli people to do?"
"where do you think they should go?"
"how do you think the country should be run?"
And why?
I mean the reason is to make you feel guilty and worried about the other side but also it doesn't make sense to me to ask really because it's not like you want an actual answer (my autism may be showing here)
Look it should be universally understood that no one is allowed to commit genocide
No one gets to do genocide! Genocide is bad!
That should be a universal and uncontroversial belief
But like how to effectively solve the underlying issue so everyone is happy?
Idk
I'm a nobody ex-christian who grew up in the States and moved to England as an adult
I'm not Israeli or Palestinian
I'm not Jewish or Muslim
Hell, I've never even visited the area
I am not a politician or involved in politics in anyway
My knowledge of world politics is very limited
This is not my field of expertise and I'm looking at this issue decades and decades after it became an issue
So no I don't have any solutions and it's weird that you would want me to come up with any
And even if by a miracle I came up with the perfect solution...what good would it do? Who would listen to me?
I have, objectively, no power to get any plan implemented and if it did it would be rightly resented by the people who live in the area in question
So asking me how I think the government should be run or how to share the territory or how any repartition should work is kinda silly
The only thing I know with conviction is genocide is never the answer because it is never ok to commit genocide
That's an easy answer that every single person on earth should agree on always and it's fucking upsetting that that's not the case
So yes I can with confidence call out the genocide happening in Gaza while at the same time not having any clue how the conflict behind this heinous crime against humanity can be solved
And that doesn't mean I think the Israeli people should all be deported and/or killed. Genocide is bad remember.
I just don't have any answers other than that and you wouldn't want me to anyway

Omg I wish I could ban tiktok from my parent’s phones. It has completely sped up their radicalization process. My dad today briefly mentioned the “Jewish circumcision method where they used their teeth to cut the skin and drink the kids blood.” I want to scream! How has he become so blind to propaganda?? How has he fallen so deep into this pipeline?? Like it’s crazy!
Please I beg people to have learn reading comprehension, to look into things instead of blindly believing a tiktok. You are aloud to learn things without an “authority” telling you about it. Please understand criticism or challenging those harmful beliefs isn’t a personal attack! Please have more awareness outside of your echo chamber!! Just because you can’t actively see the harm those beliefs cause doesn’t mean they aren’t damaging.
I know there isn’t a lot I can do to help my situation with how deep my parents are and who they are as people. Which is really depressing. But please if you find yourself falling down these pipelines understand where your going is not good. My mom started with homeopathy/alternative medicine and now look where my parents are, right wing conspiracies and Nazi ideology. Just because you aren’t actively going out in the world and doing physical harm, doesn’t mean what you’re believing in and supporting isn’t harmful. Please have some awareness. Being spiritual also doesn’t stop you from being brainwashed with propaganda. If someone is trying to explain why having a new age belief is wrong maybe listen instead of being defensive. Like seriously grow up, you are capable of learning something new and listening to a challenge. You are allowed to be wrong and grow. You should be able to question your religion.
Fucking hell your dad fell for what- 💀
That. That's literally just blood libel. Ugh.
I'm so sorry your parents fell so deep into this bullshit, and I appreciate you sharing your story. This is an excellent example of why it's important to be aware of what conspiratorial bullshit looks like and where it's likely to be. The New Age to Alt Right pipeline is very real and claims more people every day. If people want to act all precious when I call out this kind of shit, I want them to know that they are functionally just Nazis at this point, because those are the beliefs they're defending and upholding. It doesn't matter if they, personally don't identify as Nazis, because it's all the same bullshit. And it deserves no respect whatsoever, because Nazis deserve no respect whatsoever.
