30 Days of G/t Self Care

I'm not fully sure where this idea came from, but here we go! I do enjoy a fun little daily challenge, and like most things my mind went to “but how can I make it G/t?” And here we are! Just in time for the new year, a 30 day self care challenge but… sizey. I wanted to make an actual calendar thing, just in time for the new year (though it can be started at any time, it's not specific to January). Check the days off, spread them out over a longer time, pick out just the ones that speak to you, whatever you want to do 😊 Here's the guide to go with it.

Day 1. Set aside a few minutes to take some deep breaths and focus on the present moment. To help ground yourself, perhaps wrap yourself in a blanket and imagine you are in a large, lovingly grasping hand, or hold a small item and imagine it's a tiny friend.

Day 2. Revisit some nostalgic G/t media. What first got you into this? Let yourself reminisce and remember why you love this in the first place.

Day 3. Make G/t art. It can be anything! Drawing, writing, crochet, pottery, you name it. No need to hold yourself to a certain standard or show anyone else, just take some time to be creative. Even if you don't deem yourself an artist, give it a shot and see if you enjoy it!

Day 4. Relax with a word search puzzle. I made a G/t themed one for you right here!

Day 5. Try out this journal prompt. If you could be tiny/big at will, what types of things would you do to relax? How might you extrapolate from this and apply it to your real life?

Day 6. Stretch your body today. What imaginary setting could you give yourself to make it G/t? Are you surrounded by gigantic furniture in your mind’s eye? Perhaps the yoga video on your phone helps you pretend you have a tiny instructor?

Day 7. Listen to some G/t music. This could be anything, from sizey music videos to songs with sizey lyrics to the Arietty soundtrack.

Day 8. Practice gratitude by listing out all the little things you're thankful for. (See what I did there?) Add some big things to the list for good measure.

Day 9. Practice stepping out of your comfort zone a little bit by talking about G/t, out loud if you’re able. Whether it's discussing with a friend (you brave soul), recording yourself on your phone (you can immediately delete it), or just mumbling to yourself in the shower. Maybe you’ll realize you want to make a G/t podcast and we all win!

Day 10. Here's a little creative prompt. Arrange everyday items to make a G/t scene (use toys, miniatures, or even fashion a tiny person out of paperclips or paper). Take a picture, share it if you like!

Day 11. Create a cozier space today to enjoy your G/t content. Grab some blankets, make yourself a snack or some tea, light some candles, whatever sounds nice to you. Sometimes it's making a mundane moment special!

Day 12. Make yourself something healthy to eat. While you prepare it, imagine how different the task might be to carry out if you were very big or very small. Maybe even have some fun making your snack in miniature too.

Day 13. Try out some affirmations today and see if you can make them both sizey and relevant to your life. Ideas of mantras could be “I am allowed to take up space,” “I choose to appreciate the little things today,” “I will achieve great things through small steps.”

Day 14. Go out into nature for some fresh air. Lean in close and pay attention to the small details, perhaps imagining a shrunken version of yourself or a small friend exploring.

Day 15. Challenge yourself to learn a new skill today to bring your Gt ideas to life. Maybe it's learning how to code, or making your own VR avatar, or learning a new art tool or technique. It's finally time to watch that tutorial you've been saving! 

Day 16. Pull out your dream journal, or start up a new one! Maybe we’ll figure out the whole lucid dreaming thing and come close to experiencing Gt, wouldn't that be the dream~ If this doesn't resonate with you, maybe start a journal to jot down your Gt daydreams instead!

Day 17. Relax with a crossword puzzle. I made a G/t themed one for you right here!

Day 18. Try to cross a few to dos off your to do list someday. Make it more fun by adding in some joke tasks in there, like “leave out a snack for the fairies” or “prep for borrowing trip tonight” or “meet with giant friend for coffee.” Maybe even schedule some real life Gt tasks - such as “work on chapter 2 of (Gt story you're writing)” or “plan a VRC hangout”.

Day 19. It's time to dress the part! Is there any way you can dress up or accessorize yourself in a sizey way? Maybe you have an oversized hoodie, or a necklace of a tiny Eiffel tower, or an old shirt with Tinkerbell on it. Did you know you can actually buy Arietty’s giant hair clip thing? Or if this better scratches your creative itch, maybe your objective is to make tiny accessories for a toy or figurine.

Day 20. Take some time to rest. Just allow yourself to lay down in a quiet, cozy setting for at least a few minutes and have some dedicated G/t daydreaming. 

Day 21. Try out a new exercise routine and use your G/t imaginings to make it more fun. Watching a new workout video? You’re a giant visiting the gym and that's your human instructor on the screen. Spontaneous dance session in your room? You're a fairy frolicking in a field of enormous wildflowers. Going for a swim? You're actually crossing a vast ocean, or maybe a small glass of water.

Day 22. Check out a new G/t story. Not a big reader normally? Just give it a shot!

Day 23. Give yourself a pamper night, whatever that means for you - face masks, cucumber water, a warm drink, candles, the works. Pamper night (face masks and stuff)

Day 24. Make or buy something for your G/t interests (miniatures or toys, “max”iature like a giant flower pillow, fairy-themed stationary, make a giant paper mache strawberry, etc)

Day 25. Relax with a coloring page. You can use any of your favorite artist’s lineart (just make sure to get permission and/or proper attribution if you want to post it). Here's an example option from me.

Day 26. Make a list of all the things you love about G/t. It's always nice to remember the various ways this interest might benefit our lives.

Day 27. Motivate yourself to try out a new hobby by making it G/t. Take that pottery class you've been meaning to take and make a giant acorn-shaped mug. Get into cosplay so you can dress up as a borrower. Dabble with watercolors and you may end up becoming a G/t artist. Study a new language and enjoy new sizey media you couldn't understand before. Whatever speaks to you! 

Day 28. Do a favor for your future self and make a self care kit for when you're having a hard time. This could include a journal or affirmation cards, or perhaps some grounding items like fidget toys, stress balls and mints. Add a little something G/t in there too. Perhaps some kind of miniature with an interesting texture, or a fidget toy in the shape of a person, or a stuffed animal of a giant ladybug to hug. 

Day 29. An act of kindness can do wonders for our mental health. Send someone in the G/t community a kind comment today, whether it's a long-time friend, someone you just met in a Discord group, or a comment to your favorite G/t artist. 

Day 30. Reflect on all the activities you’ve tried during this self care challenge and journal about it. What have you learned about yourself? What might you incorporate more into your self care routines going forward? Pat yourself on the back for investing some time and attention into yourself - you deserve it!

A/N: Hi everyone. Just a little treat for Halloween Night. This was inspired by the wonderful list of prompts created by @hearts-hunger, specifically by number 6. campfire ghost stories.

I really hope you like this!

Word count: 1.5K

It was a chill evening in late October. Your friends had invited you to join them for a party around a campfire and you didn't know why you had accepted.

You didn't really understand all the hype for the Spooky Season so you had given in to their pleas just because you didn't want to be considered the usual killjoy.

Your friends had recommended that you wore a costume and when you had rolled your eyes at the request, they joked that they would send you right home if you didn't.

So you relented, opting for a simple white long-sleeved flowy dress to portray a ghost.

It was rather simple, but you liked it.

Of course, as soon as they saw you, your so-called friends didn't fail to point out the minimum effort you had made to build your costume.

At that, all you wanted to do was turn around and walk away when you saw him.

You had never seen him. Or you would have remembered him.

He was sitting a little apart from everyone else, and no one was by his side.

He had long brown hair and deep brown eyes that shone like gold and copper with the flickering orange light coming from the bonfire.

He had an acoustic guitar on his lap and was strumming away lazily, looking completely lost in his mind.

You understood he was dressed as a pirate because of the flowy white shirt he was wearing, almost totally unbuttoned, showing off his chest, and the three-cornered hat by his side, on the bench he was sitting on.

You sat down on a blanket opposite to him and kept observing him as he strummed away on his guitar.

As if he could sense he was being watched, his gaze lifted from the guitar and locked with yours.

At that exact moment you felt a chill run down your spine and you quickly looked away when someone shouted your name.

When you turned back again, he was gone.

You sighed, a bit sad, and pulled the blanket up on your shoulders.

It was getting very cold outside.

Someone suggested telling ghost stories around the fire and everybody cheered, gathering around there to listen.

One of your friends started telling an old story of ghosts and as you took a look around, you spotted the mysterious boy again.

He was surrounded by people but the scene looked a little odd. The people around him seemed to completely ignore him. It looked like they didn't even see him there.

He still had his guitar on his lap, you could hear the melancholic tune he was playing very clearly from where you were.

His eyes met yours again, as if he knew you were watching him.

He smiled this time and you mirrored him.

The shiver you felt when his eyes met yours for the second time turned into a scorching hot feeling that spread in your stomach and made your cheeks tinge pink.

Suddenly the music stopped with a sharp sound.

One of the chords of his acoustic broke, making his beautiful melody stop abruptly.

He sighed and dropped the instrument on the ground before standing up, picking up the guitar and heading towards the house.

He moved around people and, again, you thought that something was off. They seemed to be completely oblivious of his presence among them.

As he disappeared in the darkness of the house, you found yourself on your feet with the blanket around your shoulders following the same path he had taken mere minutes before you.

The house was completely dark and silent when you got there, the only feeble light coming from the crescent moon high in the sky.

You started roaming around the big rooms and corridors lined with closed doors until you found one of them, the last one of the floor, with its dark wooden door slightly ajar.

From the outside, you could see a warm orange glow reflected on the shiny floorboard that creaked under every step you took to slowly move forward and peer inside.

As you got closer, the desire to enter grew unbridled in your chest.

Before you knew it and without any recognition of it, you found yourself inside the room.

He was there, sitting on the bed with his acoustic still on his lap. He was fumbling with the new guitar strings he was neatly and carefully fastening on his instrument in the light of a little bedside lamp.

When he sensed your presence there, he lifted his gaze to yours and motioned you to come closer.

With slightly unsteady steps, you walked towards him and you heard your dress flutter on the ground. You dropped the blanket around your feet.

He observed you closely, without saying a single word.

You felt your cheeks turning pink the more his eyes bore into yours.

When he stood, you backed away and ended up against the wall behind you.

He came closer and his icy fingers grazed your cheek, making you shiver.

His thumb started caressing your bottom lip and you nodded.

You needed to feel his lips on yours.

When his cool lips touched yours, a shudder ran down your spine and a burning feeling invaded your body.

He slowly backed away from the wall and ended up sitting on the bed again, in the exact same position in which you found him.

His hands slipped to your hips and squeezed, making you sigh.

He kissed your clothed tummy and your hands tangled in his soft hair.

He started bunching up the fabric of your dress and when his lips touched your bare skin, your grip on his hair tightened, making him groan.

He kissed and kissed your tummy, the feeling of his plush lips was so addicting.

When he hooked his fingers in your panties you surprised yourself as you helped him slide them off your legs.

His big doe eyes met yours from below and you pleaded with him with a soft whisper.

He didn't speak, he just started placing his kisses lower and lower on your tummy making you shiver.

When he reached the downy hair between your legs, you gasped and his eyes connected with yours immediately.

You pleaded with him again and he smiled sweetly at you, giving you what you needed.

His mouth dipped lower and his tongue slid gently between your folds.

You gasped and he continued placing gentle kisses and licks between your legs.

Your grip in his hair tightened even more when he placed one of your feet on the bed, to have better access to your center.

Your head fell backwards with a moan when his rhythm quickened and he started playing with your clit with quick expert rolls of his thumb.

He moaned, sending sweet vibrations through you and your body jolted forward as you reached your peak.

You fell on the bed in ecstasy, but when you started calming down you noticed something odd.

The room was dark and silent. Nobody was there beside you, every hint of his presence was gone.

You exited the room, looking for him, but the hallway was empty and dark.

You went slowly down the stairs only to find some of your friends in the kitchen, getting marshmallows to bring outside.

They saw you and greeted you.

But you didn't meet their eyes.

Your eyes were fixed on the wall right behind them where a few pictures decorated the wall.

One in particular caught your eye and you felt your body start to shiver.

A thin layer of cold sweat started covering your skin.

There he was.

His eyes were looking right at you from a black and white old photograph on that wall.

He was standing in the middle of a countryside road with an old hat on his head and a cigarette dangling from his lips. That same acoustic guitar by his side. On his lips there was a barely-there smile and his gaze was lost in the distance.

Underneath that picture, there were a few neatly scribbled words.

One of your friends saw you looking at the picture and detached it from the wall, handing it to you.

"Who is this?" You asked, with a trembling voice.

"This was a blues artist who was very famous around town. He was the owner of this house actually." She said looking at the picture herself.

You were starting to shake, unable to think straight.

"Oh, and since we are all in a horror story mood, you should know that he was found dead in this house, right in the room at the end of the hallway upstairs" your friend confessed to you, with a makeshift spooky voice.

You paled.

The room at the end of the hallway.

You quickly turned to go outside but you stopped abruptly.

"Hey, are you ok?" One of your friends asked, slowly waving a hand before your eyes.

A chill sensation pervaded you when, sitting on the armchair in front of the fireplace, you saw a figure.

There he was, smiling at you in the exact same way he was smiling in that picture.

When your breath caught in your throat, his smile turned into a smirk.

"You look like someone who has just seen a ghost." Your friend said, chuckling and going outside to join the other people, completely oblivious of the man sitting on the armchair that winked at you and patted his lap at your friend's remark.

Grass Game Observation Log - Employees Ver.

[Spoilers for the game!]

This log is dedicated to pointing out the small details for the Greener Grass employees in terms of their artistic significance/animations/quirks/potential (headcanon) personalities. (Also known as: doing more guesswork that also functions as a semi game guide.) Since they don’t have names, they will be listed out with a number according to the order of their appearance.

Employee 1

[Sorry for the crunchy quality, it’s a bit hard to take nature documentary level of pictures when they’re out to maul you.]

First appearance: Hole 8

The first enemy you encounter in the game. Has the least amount of tolerance to the player’s stare, as well as a normal charge build-up (5~6 seconds).

Special (warning) animations: Leans to the right, swaying, widening posture has footstep sounds, hands at the sides, extreme twitching, charge.

Notes: An employee who seems to be the most normal one among the commercial trio. He is easier to deal with once you have dealt with the others in previous runs. Seems to have a charming “average Joe” attitude. His expression is the most normal one despite the permanent smile. Looks straight and forward. He just seems more curious than hostile at times. He emerges from a bush from your side, like he’s really more into watching you golf. The background music is also more tense, but stealth based since he’s creeping from behind.

He’s up to mischief, no doubt.

Employee 2

First appearance: Hole 10

The second employee encountered in the game. Has a seemingly normal/low tolerance to your stare, but is enraged faster (4 seconds).

Special animations: Snarls/hisses, arms at side, sways, twitches, charge.

Notes: A lot of people have mentioned that she seems to be a bit different than Employee 1. Faster and more aggressive. I don’t think she’s necessarily faster, but she is definitely more aggressive since she never starts her enraged animations the same time as employee 1. Also, she likes to move across you instead of directly behind you. I like that she literally has a threaten emote by literally hissing at you. It’s disconcerting given the player feels even more pressured in return. Her expression is also angled down in such a way that she seems like she’s constantly glaring at you, which is a nice touch. It is easier to spot her since it almost like she’s wearing a white mask from a distance, but when you observe closely, it’s just the moon’s bright light that makes it look that way.

Can dodge soul balls and run away to self preserve. I think she has a more combative but go-doer personality. A kind of person who is cynical or even hostile to interact with at times, but is the only realistic one who wants to get any sort of work accomplished. I also noted that she doesn’t make a sound during her appearance at Hole 10. There is no bush rustling sound like Employee 1 unless you have “text for audio cues” on, but within the game itself there is no sound. Meaning she was deliberately silent all the way through unless you looked behind and realise she was there all along. Background music is more intense, loud and sharp once she is spotted, like alarm bells ringing in your head.

She’s the competent one, and knows what methods yield more effective results.

Employee 3

First appearance: Hole 12

The last of the commercial trio to appear on the golf course. He has the highest tolerance to the player’s stare and a very arbitrary charge build up time (I tried a few times, and it seems that when it actually builds tolerance is hard to determine since most of the time it twitches and ends up walking to you anyways).

Special animations: Leans to the left to righten posture, walks a few quick steps towards player, stop. Repeat until system decides to build rage fully (listen to the static cue) <- should this occur, animation changes to leans to the left, sway, arms at side, twitch, charge.

Notes: An employee with the least amount of screen time, but is no less interesting as the other two. Unlike the others, his head is constantly tilted back, and he actually looks like the only one who is having a good time with that smile. Allowing him to just walk towards you is the funniest bit the game could have done for people who like to take risks and golf right next to the enemies while staring them down. A lot of players like to glance at the enemies while walking past them, so Employee 3 is a big haha moment to anyone who likes to get close enough because this guy will start moving.

A person with a relaxed and unbothered personality despite having a seemingly arbitrary(?) and unpredictable mechanic. No conflict whatsoever going on in this man’s mind. Doesn’t hiss at you or give you weird looks. Just good vibes, murder and helping out wherever he can. Background music is whirring and choppy, uncomfortable with its speed and strange rhythm. So chill that he is always the last one to know what’s going on and late to arrive at the scene. Oh well.

Ending notes:

• I love all the enemies in this game because they are very unique in their own way. It is not merely a matter of taking the red light green light and weeping angel mechanics to a next level, but also the fact the at they individually have their own “quirks” and little habits: one is more patient, the other moves without a care, while another gets agitated when you look at her for even a second longer. It’s really the little things that others don’t pick up on during the game itself since it can be stressful, but knowing who does what enhances the experience.

•• If there is a tip I can give to beat the game with these enemies included, it is to:

1) Always know where you’re swinging + what direction your ball is going to. Blindly swinging in a panic will increase the likelihood of losing track of your ball rolling into a bush or getting yourself cornered near rocks.

2) Moonwalking is a good way to keep your enemies in your line of sight instead of turning your back on them. This also helps you to circle around them without being backstabbed. If you have to, glance at the ground very briefly, but not for long. Always try to have them within somewhere visible. Remember — they move behind much faster without your stare. Doing so will buy you time and put distance between you and the employees. Just be careful to not walk backwards into the water.

3) It sounds ineffective, but patience is key to getting around them. Playing the long game of manipulating their positions is necessary as there will be many times they are right next to you while the ball is close to the hole. Do not risk it by being impulsive as what will happen then is that you will end up swinging too much, causing the ball to roll further away. Instead, lead them away before tapping the ball into the hole. My unpopular opinion will forever be that this game isn’t as hard as people say it is; it’s just that it’s natural to want to rush through the holes, so you get punished if you’re not cautious or patient.

••• I wonder if originally, we were meant to stand off against all three of the employees at once considering in the caddy house cutscene, employee 1 was there when we closed the door. Either this, or it was just implying all three had been on the course, but employee 1 merely chose to sit out for some reason and didn’t appear. Or maybe the developer just forgot that hole 12 is just employee 2 and 3.

Hackney Diamonds

Heads up: this isn’t very positive…

I finally sat my ass to listen to Hackney Diamonds, expecting… honestly not much. I don’t know why, maybe it was instinctual. I never fell for all the praise from the biggest music editors. It saddens me to write this one day after my eternal love’s birthday (yep that’s Keith) but I was right to trust my gut. When I see that the reviews for this album range from a Four from Financial Times to a Five from the Telegraph, and there is a 4.5 from Classic Rock in between, I can’t help but laugh. It is saddening because it feels like a pat on the shoulder to the old fellas, who “still got it”. Supposedly. A younger famous band would be lucky to get a 3 for this album, let’s be real. What frustrates me also is that they said this album is so much better than the “mediocre” A Bigger Bang and… uh… no? A Bigger Bang is a much more inspired and original work than this thing, with much more sophisticated compositions and well thought out lyrics. So below is my list from best to worst, but in truth, I doubt any of these songs will make it to my playlists, maybe the first three, maybe none.

1. Rolling Stone Blues. I read an interview in which Mick spoke almost dismissively about this song, he had a vibe of “oh yeah we put that Waters stuff there to remind nostalgics it’s us, whatever, who cares”. Well, it grieves me to say it is the best song in there.

2. Live by the sword. The critics have been gushing about how the new album sounds like the old them, some even dared make Exile comparisons, Jesus. This is one of the two songs at most that sound like the old them.

3. Whole Wide World. This is the other one. It gave me some vague Paint It Black vibes, like an extremely mediocre copycat but it’s an interesting song on its own right.

4. Tell Me Straight. I was waiting for Keith’s song with hope, I was let down. However the song has more character than most of the album.

5. Dreamy Skies. Some distortion of Far Away Eyes there?

6. Depending On You. This is like a Eurovision “rock” ballad that is super generic but somehow stays with you for a few minutes.

7. Sweet Sounds of Heaven. Whoever compares this song again to Gimme Shelter needs to stop working as a music critic. It’s not all that bad but it’s too mediocre to make such comparisons anything other than crazy.

8. Driving Me Too Hard. Now starts the horror of “Mick thinks he is in a pop-rock boyband” which frankly is the theme of the album.

9. Get Close. Please don’t.

10. Mess It Up. Well I call this self-awareness. The most entertaining thing about this album is listening to the songs they chose to release as singles!

11. Bite My Head Off. So I can’t hear this thing anymore.

12. Angry. Okay I don’t know if Angry is truly the worst, because everything from place eight and lower is a music-less blur in my head, however it deserves last place because they had the abysmal judgement to release it as first single and music video. Unbelievable.

Jane Eyre adaptation OSTs, ranked

Because I have OpinionsTM. The main criteria here is "how Jane Eyre" each of these feel, being the main trait in it how much drama, high emotion, operatic-ness and cheese they contain, how much they reflect the environment and feel of the story, independently of how much they fit the specific adaptation they were made for. Some context will be taken into account, and also how aesthetically pleasing they are, etc, but not specifically their overall match with the tone of the adaptation they belong to (mainly because that makes them really impossible to compare with each other).

Before properly beginning, I will put outside this list the OST of the 1973 BBC adaptation. As much as it is big and operatic and has a lot of gusto, it's also not an original composition for the series -it's Edgar Elgar's 'Introduction and Allegro' for Strings (Quartet and Orchestra), Op. 47, and I think that disqualifies it.

That now out of the way, let's proceed:

7. Jane Eyre (1983) by Paul Reade.

This one is at the bottom mostly because of how sweet and tranquil and restrained it is overall. I'd rather expect it for something like Cranford or Anne of Green Gables. There's nothing even remotely Gothic or super dramatic to it.

6. Jane Eyre (1943) by Bernard Hermann.

Bombastic, like all things Hollywood in the 40s, but also very, very, very generic. Can fit anything from Victorian Romance to Contemporary drama and a serious old-timey silly simphony cartoon.

Best tracks: Rochester, Springtime, Mr Mason, Farewell.

5. Jane Eyre (1970) by John Williams.

It's comforting, once in a while, to know even the greatest are not very inspired sometimes.

Mind you, this still IS John Williams. The melodies are beautiful, the leitmotif carries solidly through the different pieces and morphs deliciously... but it doesn't sound like Jane Eyre. It doesn't sound like anything remotely in a zone anywhere near Jane Eyre. The tone is epic, but as in war-epic, with a dash of romance. What you'd expect for, say, a Zefirelli adaptation of a Shakespeare play?. The instrumentation, heavy on flute and a sort of harpsichord and sometimes... glockenspiel? does very little to evade that idea.

Best tracks: Trio (The Meeting), Across the Moors, Reunion.

4. Jane Eyre (2006), by Rob Lane.

This one is... fine. It's fine. It surely does have big emotions, it can do spooky and it can do joyful... but, listen, Rob Lane is an award-winner composer. We are talking of the person that composed the epic theme of Merlin. Here are some samples of his Jane Eyre score:

But you know what really puts it at the "bottom of the best" list? The... peculiar... way in which it sometimes sounds way too close to Thomas Newman's score for Little Women 1994. Maybe it is a matter of the director temping scenes with LW tunes and requiring the score to sound very similar, but even then, it's not... a good look.

Listen, for example, to this segment (it will play first "New York" from the score of Little Women 1994, then the music you hear when the servants prepare Thornfield for the arrival of the guests. The sound on the second is a bit muffled because I removed the vocals manually):

3. Jane Eyre (2011) by Dario Marianelli.

*gasp*

Yes, I went there and I'm not sorry. But also, this is not about dissing this score at all. It's really, really good. And truly, the difference between 3 and 2 is almost a technicality.

Declaredly, the director wanted Dario Marianelli to make this score as contrasting as possible to the one he composed for Pride &Prejudice (2005). This is in principle a good idea, because these works do feel like completely different universes. But one thing that the P&P score had going for itself, and that I see as a weakness of this one, is the distinctive character of each piece of the score; one blends into the other, and the general tone, while very atmospheric and supremely gothic, is also very restrained (it sounds contradictory, but it isn't). Which isn't very Janeeyresque at all.

Best pieces: A Thorough Education, Waiting for Mr. Rochester, The Wedding Dress.

2. Jane Eyre (1997), by Richard Harvey

(here is my own extraction of the music from the movie itself. As such, because of vocal isolation procedures, there's distortion and quality loss, specially in the parts under dialogue, but it still gives a complete impression of the OST as a whole).

I mourn that it has never been released, because to me at least it is hauntingly beautiful and memorable. Jane's leitmotif really just captures so much about the hardship and grief mingled with hope and yearning, and high drama and struggle of the story, that even if some of the other parts of the score aren't as distinctive or memorable, it still places it near the top.

Best pieces: Jane Eyre (Main Theme), Rochester's Fire, Handshake at Sunrise.

1. Jane Eyre (1996) by Claudio Capponi and Alessio Vlad

Jane Eyre (1996) will justly loose most accuracy rankings, but the score, the score is the one thing in it that very much does feel like the novel to me.

The music for this production is distinctive and gorgeous; it’s very simply structured around three main motifs: a journey motif (very clear in Infanzia di Jane, Viaggio di Jane), a love motif with a joyful (Tema di Helen, Matrimonio di Jane) and a wistful movement (Tema di Jane, Jane e Rochester), and a dark motif with a regret (Tema di Rochester, Ritorno a Thornfield) and a danger (Incendio a Thornfield, Inverno a Lowood) movement. The score moves seamlessly from poignant and reflective to sinister to hopeful, to innocent and pastoral and back again.

Best pieces: Infanzia di Jane, Helen e Jane, Tema di Jane Eyre (reprise).

1. What is their favorite movie? hmmm ok I’m picking Daesha! I think The Princess and the Frog would be a beloved of hers, as she’d really connect with Tiana! She’d love Mulan, too. She’d also rly like Legally Blonde!

She’s an autumn person, I think! It just has her Vibes! She’d really enjoy watching the leaves change, and her caf cantina’s cozy vibes are even more immaculate in autumn!

3. What do they find annoying?

Men.

Just kidding lol. She would definitely make that joke and not mean it…usually. Homegirl has some Stuff to work through in that area. Anyways, she’s annoyed by anyone who messes up her cantina’s vibe. And everything about Twi’lek stereotypes infuriates her. But when it comes to domestic, everyday annoyances…I think she gets frustrated when people pick apart movies. She’s like “it’s my day off I took off w o r k to enjoy this so LET ME ENJOY IT”

4. How would they like to spend their Christmas or equivalent holiday?

She just celebrated Life Day with her parents for a long time, which was really intimate and enough for her. She and her parents are very close, and they’re super proud of her! Daesha loves welcoming people into her caf cantina, but she’s a bit of an introvert when she’s off work, and she’s quite the workaholic. So she doesn’t make a lot of effort socially, besides the customers who eventually become friends and family to her. One in particular…but that’s another story.

5. Do they play an instrument? If so, what? How good are they at it?

Nah, but Daesha does love listening to music! She’s got one headphone in most of the time and gives the BEST music recommendations!

6. What’s their favorite meal to eat?

Daesha’s breakfast is caf, so that one lol!

7. Do they have a favorite video game or board game?

OOH Daesha would play a lot of board/card games with her parents!! I think she’d love Monopoly lol and the card game Spades! She’s very competitive, but in a fun way. When she was a kid she was more fiery about it lol but she’s usually more chill now. Usually. Unless you get her really worked up. Also she’s secretly a gamer on her off days and story video games make her cry like nothing else, especially Undertale

Her parents make her celebrate lol. and they leaked her birthday to her customers so they all join in and every year they bring decorations as soon as the store opens and hang them everywhere and buy way too much caf as a present for Daesha haha

9. What’s their bedtime routine?

she used to SUCK at self-care, but now she’s got a fire skincare routine lol. she always makes a to-do list for the next day before she goes to bed in her super organized planner! she’s an early riser, so she doesn’t stay up super late—unless it’s the night before an off-day, in which case she g a m e s so hard and then falls into bed. also occasionally she gets stuck in the hypnosis that is Brooklyn Nine-Nine and binges too many episodes. she only once in a blue moon, tho. also yes her favorite character is Rosa, closely followed by Amy

10. What’s an OC (or canon character) they like to spend time around? What do they tend to do together?

She and Hera VIBE. they connect for so many reasons and on so many levels! throughout the Rebellion, they don’t rly get to see each other, but afterwards, they reconnect, and they FaceTime/holocall or whatever about once a week! it’s therapeutic for the both of them, and they very occasionally meet up and Daesha makes her caf and they talk for hours. also Daesha loves Jacen so much she thinks he’s the cutest thing and sometimes when Hera’s out doing General Things and no one in the Ghost Crew is available she drops him off on Keothon and he hangs out with Aunt Day for a while and she lets him help out in the caf cantina! he loves being a mini barista and the customers adore him!

i literally daydream about people asking me stuff like this LOL. so this is hardly a comprehensive list of all my favorite songs ever but here are some songs that are really important to me!!! this got REALLY long so i put it under a read more

1. meet me in the woods by lord huron

my absolute favorite song Ever like of all time. means everything to me. i could listen to this every single day and never get tired of it. INSANELY fun, incredible vibes, makes me want to go outside and shoot a beam into somebody. lord huron is an Experience. all their albums are concept albums and there’s actually a fair amount of lore going on. on the physical CD for strange trails it actually has the characters’ names next to their respective songs

for meet me in the woods, it sounds very upbeat and happy, but listen closely and you’ll realize it’s not quite as it seems… in-universe, it’s narrated by a woman named francine lu, and the song has the same chords as the first track of the album (and another of her songs) “love like ghosts”. she also narrates “the night we met”, easily LH’s most famous song. francine lu is not having a normal one. what’s her problem? listen to find out…..

2. crystals by of monsters and men

this was my favorite song ever for about 6 years until meet me in the woods ranked just a tiny bit higher. sooo fucking fun, itches a part of my brain that’s only accessible via icelandic stomp & holler. makes me very happy and always cheers me up! of monsters and men was the first new (at the time) band i ever really discovered on my own without hearing about from my parents or other people, and i’ve been listening to them ever since (almost 13 years!!) they are incredibly important to me and i highly recommend all of their albums

3. sunblind by fleet foxes

relatively new but became a favorite as soon as i heard it. this is also one of the most Me songs i can think of on top of just being so fucking gorgeous and raw and heartfelt. this song is a tribute to deceased musicians who influenced robin pecknold (the lead singer and songwriter for fleet foxes) and how their music is pretty much the reason he’s even alive today. my favorite lines are “only way that i made it for a long time / but i’m loud and alive, singing you all night”. this entire album is sincerely a masterpiece and i highly recommend listening to it all. fleet foxes have really beautiful and unique lyrics, they remind me of mitski’s lyrics in that they’re very poetic and personal and emotional but still subjective enough that you can connect them to your own life

4. this must be the place by talking heads

specifically the stop making sense live recording, which i still half-refuse to believe is a live recording because it’s just THAT fucking good. whenever someone says david byrne can’t sing i direct them here, because he does sincerely have an incredible voice and he simply Chooses to sing weirdly bc he’s a quirked up white boy with autistic swag.

this is just a really sweet and romantic song from a band that otherwise stays far away from love songs and it works extremely well. this entire album is fucking incredible and easily the best live album of all time. half of them are BETTER than the studio recordings, and you can also watch david byrne leap straight up backwards like a full 4 feet

highly recommend watching stop making sense just the entire film

5. vein of stars by the flaming lips

back in 2014, i watched a very beloved streamer play a game called “space engine”, in which you explore as much of the universe as we’ve theorized to exist. this was a little before copyright laws got so fucking strict on youtube and twitch, so mr. vinny vinesauce could play any music he wanted while planet-hopping. one of those songs was vein of stars, and it’s been one of my absolute favorites ever since.

the flaming lips are definitely an acquired taste. wayne coyne does Not have a very good voice and it can get extremely grating, especially to someone who hasn't heard them before. but when it works, god it works. this song is so pretty and nostalgic to me, always calms me down whenever i’m In A Mood. it’s nihilistic but not in a depressing way, more like “yeah maybe we aren’t here for any particular reason, maybe there’s nothing after this life. there’s nothing we can do about that, so why worry?”. very peaceful. REQUIRED listening when stargazing

6. good old-fashioned lover boy by queen

one of the first songs i ever truly hyperfixated on. unfortunately i listened to it SO fucking much it kind of ruined it for me, but i still do really love it. i may not listen to it that often anymore but i felt obligated to put it here bc it had a Profound Effect on my developing brain

7. too much time by john vanderslice

the year is 2012 and you're halfway through the newest episode of the hit podcast welcome to nightvale. cecil announces the weather. little do you know that you will carry the next 3 and a half minutes with you for the rest of your life. this one is just absurdly nostalgic to me (and not to mention incredibly vash the stampede coded). beloved song!!!

8. waltz for zizi & the real folk blues by the seatbelts & mai yamane

well it’s no secret that i think cowboy bebop has the greatest anime soundtrack of all time and one of THE greatest soundtracks of all time Ever. this is just an objective fact actually.

i believe this is because the seatbelts and specifically the composer yoko kanno studied real jazz, blues, and bebop to make the ost. like it's not just "jazz-flavored", there is genuine, deep respect and you can hear it in every single track. waltz for zizi gives me physical goosebumps every single time i listen to it, it's absolutely perfect. i've made it a ritual to listen to every time i visit the shore at night and go stargazing. sincerely transcendent experience

9. cuckoo song by cosmo sheldrake

hhhhhrrr this entire fucking albummmm hhhhhhhrhhhhrhhhaauuuuUUUUOOOGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

back during my final semesters of college, i had to take a course for art degree seniors. we’d pick something we were passionate about, make art for it, and it would be hung up for a week in the exhibition room. i chose birds of course, but wake-up calls inspired me to shift that choice to something more important than just random funny bird drawings. i focused on bird species that have gone extinct within the last 60 years because wake-up calls is made almost entirely out of endangered bird songs.

i’ll be honest i can barely listen to this song or anything on the album because i WILL literally start sobbing like in real life. cuckoo song in particular just makes me start crying every single time i listen to it, it’s like a magic spell. it’s not even necessarily sad but just viscerally bittersweet. the art for the album is made by flora wallace. here’s the spotify canvas i made a gif just for you 👍

10. take you back by orville peck

and finally………….. the song that made me realize that i actually DO love real country music a lot, and that the derivative “bro country” sub-genre that developed in the early 2000s has absolutely destroyed any positive opinion of country music in society. we NEED to go back, and orville peck is more than doing his part. this is the first song i ever heard by him and it's just so goddamn fun. i am completely unable to not sing along to this when it comes on

not only do i highly recommend orville peck but also any country music from the 50s and 60s, especially marty robbins, charley pride, conway twitty, and of course mrs. dolly parton. and later country rock/folk rock bands like america and creedence clearwater revival. it’s SO good i’m so serious

orville peck is the only modern country singer i can think of who's not afraid to bring back the harmonicas and whistling and steel guitars and whip cracks and yeehaws. it's fantastic. he's also gay and an outspoken trans ally. i believe this gives him the power to revive country music from the dead ��

Every Tyler the Creator Album Ranked

And then, out of the bleu, I listened to every album from the predictably unpredictable Tyler, the Creator. Frankly, I only knew him best from Loiter Squad and The Jellies with the occasional cameo via Regular Show and Axe Cop. It was last Fall where I started listening to music more, eventually going Tyler's full discography. Here we are now, recognizing his game, getting surprised in more ways than one, and going through his albums from good to peak. Don't take this as a "worst to best" ranking, I will confidently say he has no bad records. But, gotta discuss one thing though before we get to the list and that is...

0. The Grinch Album

Back in 2018, Tyler was commissioned to make a couple songs for Illumination's Grinch movie. They were okay even though they wasted his version of "You're a Mean One" on the opening minutes instead of the part that matter. It was in the same year that he made an EP with songs inspired by the movie that weren't used in said movie, just something Tyler was into doing. It's only six songs, ten minutes and change, but it's breezy while not being annoying about the Holidays. I'd overall say, since it came beforehand, the EP's great in getting a feel of IGOR's instrumentals but with a more upbeat tone. You can really tell Pharrell Williams was a big influence to Tyler here, coincidentally since Pharrell made songs for Illumination and a couple of these Grinch songs resemble his works in a way. If I were to rank it, it'd be number 6. Way too short to fairly ranked among the others but admittedly memorable compared to the bottom 2. With that said, NOW let's do this...

7. Cherry Bomb

Again none of these are bad albums, and I say this was a very important one for Tyler's career. Cherry Bomb is to Tyler what Vaudeville Villain was for MF DOOM. After the Wolf Trilogy, this was him popping off one more time like the old days before coming to terms with where he wanted to go next, you notice with how things mellow out halfway in. You get how his direction in music shifted while not feeling ashamed of what used to be his initial style; Flower Boy wouldn't have worked without this and I can see why it's Tyler's personal favorite. With that said, most the tracks aren't as memorable as the later albums on this list. 'Deathcamp' is a fierce bop opener, I love 'Find Your Wings', 'Okaga, CA' and '2Seater', but man it can be a tonal mess that doesn't reach the same highs. Plus it's the one where I can say the mixing is weird; like some vocals feel muffled and the production sounds unintentionally worse than Goblin. The titular 6th song I just hate, personally the all time worst song he's ever made and it's not close. Not as great an album as I'd hoped, but to dismiss this album would feel wrong as it exists no differently to Tyler's growth as a artist. Change ain't easy, y'know.

6. Goblin

Yeah, even I can't deny this is the weakest of the Wolf trilogy. It's better than Cherry Bomb in that it has a... more consistent flow, but that leads into my biggest problem. Goblin feels too same-y and just a messier expansion to Bastard. 'Yonkers' I'm amazed got the praise it did when I could tell Tyler made it as a joke; emblematic of his career I guess. Still, when it hits it hits, we got 'She', 'Tron Cat', "Nightmare', 'Windows', and you get into it better than Cherry Bomb. Now I'm one of those crackpots that thinks of this, where if you ever get into Tyler's music, I recommend Goblin after Wolf where you'll understand the latter more but listening to Goblin then Wolf as naturally ordered will play out like an edited timeline story if listened to all at once. Goblin overall feels like that middle child where it fits the time it was released but hasn't aged as well as its siblings.

5. Scum Fuck Flower Boy

This is probably blaspheme but it is one of those cases where this is great but the next few albums are just better to me by comparison. I can appreciate this album more after listening to Cherry Bomb; the neo soul heavily leaning from CB's latter half songs. The vibes are more chill but retains those underlying somber feelings like previous albums. This felt like he refined his style; Tyler got to loosen up lyrically & it's all a mood. At the same time, I didn't grow up with this album while I wish I did. It just doesn't resonate with me as much while I do grasp how the Creator was feeling when he made this. Best way to describe is that I could see the characters that exist in the albums; I can see Wolf Haley, Baudelaire, IGOR, etc. It's hard seeing Flower Boy himself because he feels that overshadowed between his works of the past and future. Again not like I didn't understand, just that it wasn't as impactful as I'd hoped. Don't take this as a negative, because this is just how strong Tyler's music can be for me.

4. Bastard

I genuinely tend to switch between Bastard and Wolf as to which is number 3. For Wolf, it's with the storytelling and the composition that's done better. For Bastard, it's the energy and unfiltered fun with it being Tyler's first mixtape. I was taken aback initially on the contents of this like I will not call it "horrorcore" but it's like JESUS christ; can't even tell you what's on this for the fear of getting flagged. However, I say Tyler's music gets better with re-listens. Bastard feels like the title lives up to the name; Ace and Odd Future making bangers together, flippin' birds to the sky, and the titular track laying out that it isn't just shock value for the sake of it. This feels like the album Tyler would always want to make starting out, with that no fucks given confidence being the foundation of him exploring his troubles with love and developing a career. Basically, the "Fatherless Behavior album" as my friend pointed out that blessfully hasn't aged like milk given the man's future livelihood. I enjoy Bastard for its garage appeal and this being where Tyler got to start out before 'Yonkers' pushed him to stardom.

3. Wolf

This to me has the best storytelling in Tyler's discography. I like that it kinda tricks you in terms of what the perspective is for the album's concept. You could say this is about Wolf Haley himself finding some peace after Goblin and getting in the love triangle with Samuel and Salem. You could say this was more Samuel's album while Wolf is mostly out the picture hanging with Salem. Either way works with Tyler's growth considering this is far less shocking than Goblin and Bastard combined. You can tell while Samuel exists as the remaining edginess of Tyler's past, he's cooled down with the graphical lyrics for a different approach to his music; 'Answer' and 'PartyIsntOver' shows his softer tune that fits the album's camp aesthetic. Again, this and Bastard I will flip ranks on certain days, but I can see why it's the fan favorite among the initial three.

2. Call Me If You Get Lost

From what I've seen before listening, I figured that this would be a flex album and Tyler did not disappoint. Tyler Baudelaire felt like a real persona, I'd say the evolution of Wolf Haley with DJ Drama being the cherry on top. I think this wouldn't have worked as well without the hypeman, not only for being a great jab at DJ Khalid after the one sided beef back in 2018 but an enjoyable narrator that I couldn't imagine any other for the spot. Call Me is just the epitome of swagger, the time where Tyler can finally gun out with his rap skills while it's not full on chest beating. Like his previous albums, it explores his love life and how he works out his feelings when things don't go right. Felt like Tyler at his most vulnerable, especially with 'Wilshire' that's the longest song if you don't count the notable conjoined tracks like 'Sugar/I Thought You Wanted to Dance'. When you recognize growth, this album was it. Incorporating his previous albums into this, utilizing his ability to make banger after banger. That's if you don't count The Estate Sale, basically a victory lap upon the existing victory lap that was the base album. When I say 'Sorry, Not Sorry' was the pinnacle of Tyler's whole career I mean it. Call Me If You Get Lost felt like a celebration, where you're with Tyler in how much he's living life. This seriously would've been number 1 with or without Estate Sale, if not for...

1. IGOR

Might as well say it now: it's his magnum opus. I've brought up a couple times now that Tyler's music can be messy and that can apply here, more on a emotional level than technical. Here though, that's what makes it perfect. This album is about the love you had being pulled and eventually crushed, and it's not around to sugarcoat. What helps it stick out is knowing IGOR exists as his own being, not just a persona of Tyler. He embodies how we all can feel when it comes to heartbreak and how ugly the emotions can actually be. This wouldn't have worked without 'New Magic Wand', without 'What's Good' or 'I Don't Love You Anymore'. Tyler's music, from what I've recognize, has always been taking ugly with the beauty you can find and this is that note perfected. Being the shortest album of the collection, this album's ergonomic where I can hardly listen to one song on its own and was the record I've listened to the most because it got better every time. This isn't even accounting for 'Are We Still Friends', which I've considered the all-time greatest closer I've ever listened to. It brings me to actual tears every time and it's like everything clicked. This felt like more than just Tyler proving himself as the Creator, but him respecting the oldheads of music with this neo-soul masterpiece.

Conclusion

Tyler's music is the first instance I truly grasped what he meant by each album pinpointing the certain periods of his life. Listening to his works in order, you understand his growth as an musician without it ever feeling out of nowhere. What I love most is that you can tell he constantly had fun producing; the confidence he always has even at his worst can't be understated. It feels like Tyler got to grow up on his own terms, never taking his success for granted and becoming the most prolific artist I've known next to Kendrick and Dre. Having caught up, I'm genuinely interested in his next direction because hell, what else is there to say?

1.) View Monster by Lemon Demon. It's not easy for me to pick a Lemon Demon album, so this is the one that statistically has the highest number of my favorite tracks on it. Honorable mentions to Damn Skippy, Hip to the Javabean, and Dinosaurchestra.

2.) Treats by Sleigh Bells. Yeah, Poach likes Treats. Who knew? Zero skips in this album but Rill Rill is actually probably my least favorite. It's a good song, but this album does not need that breather in the middle of it.

3.) I Was A Teenage Washout by The Washouts. The only album by The Washouts. This album consists of music recorded by Jeff "Rip" Carson from between the ages of 11 and 16. Most songs were written by him as well. Discovered this artist/album while researching covers of Last Caress. Near as I can tell, Last Caress is the only non-original track on the album, but I could be wrong. Either way, this one grinds the line between "highly underrated" and "acquired taste."

4.) Paul's Boutique by The Beastie Boys. This album serves cunt hard. Again, no skips here except maybe the intro and outtro. Nothing wrong with them, but if you listen to the album often enough they can become tedious.

5.) Astro Lounge by Smash Mouth. Yes, the album with All Star on it. Turns out every track on this album fucks super hard, and there's quite a bit of variety to their sound. Another rock solid zero-skips album.

6.) The Conet Project. This isn't really an album. In fact it isn't really music at all. It's a five-disc collection of shortwave radio oddity recordings. Basically there are certain mandatory rules when broadcasting on shortwave frequencies. Recordings in this collection showcase stations that break these rules consistently over a long period of time, leading many to believe they are government sanctioned in some capacity, although they have never been publicly acknowledged or explained by any governing body. I listen to them on the reg.

7.) Cross by Justice. No skips. You've probably heard a song or two from this album even if you don't realize it. I seem to recall the "the party don't start til I walk in" line from THE PARTY being a popular meme some years ago. There's just no weak links in here at all. Perfectly cohesive album.

8.) f# a# ∞ by Godspeed You! Black Emporer. Another fairly famous album in music circles. There's not much I feel a need to say about it. It's beautiful, it's very dear to my heart.

9.) Puberty 2 by Mitski. This list is bookended by albums that were difficult for me to pick out from the rest of their artist's catalogue. Bury Me at Makeout Creek and Be The Cowboy are close contenders, but in the interest of not repeating an artist on this list I chose Puberty 2. Fireworks and My Body's Made Of Crushed Little Stars are almost guaranteed to bring me to tears anytime I hear them.

1) Gets turnt up at a party on caprisun

Okay, if it wasn't Caprisun but actual alcohol, Mirror is the cheapest and easiest drunk while Brooklyn is the one who enjoys a good drink the most (and can hold her liquor the best). Caprisun though? It's super sugary and I've always seen Cat as the OC there that's most prone to sugar rushes...along with caffeine really affecting her, as a bonus headcanon.

2) Laughs a lot

I think this one is a three way tie between Amber, Dell, and Mari, all of whom are quick to laugh and smile. Mari and Amber are both just quick to find either the fun or the positives in a situation whilst the trickster Dell knows that laughter and smiles often can be used to great effect to endear yourself to others.

3) Will blare loud death metal music but is a cinnamon roll

Okay, death metal doesn't really exist in The Ever Young, but if it did, this is so Nina or Mirror, mostly because this girl behind the screen actually has a really huge love for metal (been listening to way too much Children of Bodom lately haha), and because I find it funny to have someone super small and cute and seemingly completely shy and innocent like Nina be into music like that. But then, she's a lot more than she looks in most aspects.

4) Likes hugs

Okay, this is easier to answer this way:

Even the suggestion of a hug makes Mirror panic and move as far away from you as possible. Unless she really likes you and trusts you, hugging Tea will end up with her stabbing you. Dell would let you hug them but there's a 50/50 chance something really bad might end up happening to you. Hugs with Lou end up with your wallet gone, just because they can. Cat hates hugs from people she isn't close to and Whisp hates physical contact of any sort from people she doesn't trust. Brooklyn has to be in the mood for hugs, even from people she likes and while Nina likes hugs, she is really bad sometimes at remembering how strong she is so hugs can be very painful from her. So only Mari, Marta and Amber are safe bets for hugs.

5) Will stab you if you take their piece of pizza

Okay, so this is just related to food in general and not just pizza but both Lou and Whisp know what it is to starve, to be completely without food. And because of that, both of them do have some food-related insecurities that do lead them to becoming rather territorial of their food, though neither one of them would probably resort to murder if you did take it.

6) Stays up too late and regrets it

Mirror doesn't sleep. Not for pleasure, at least. She is capable of passing out from pain or because of injury but she has no need to actually sleep, nor does she know the experience of being tired.

7) Lets their phone die

Okay, phones don't really exist in The Ever Young but if they did, I see Tea being the one who cares least for her phone and the one most likely to be perpetually on low or no battery.

8) Eyebrow Game. Strong AF.

Dell has the strongest eyebrow game. Like, their eyebrows are always great...even when they shapeshift, if what they shapeshift into has eyebrows, they even make sure to bring strong eyebrow game in that form.

9) Regrets decisions made 5 seconds ago

I think almost all of the characters do face this at least once during the entire storyline, but I think it happens most frequently for both Amber, who does things just for her own amusement without really thinking things completely through, and Nina, who , when upset, becomes just someone who acts completely on emotion and impulse.

10) Will punch you in the face, and you will thank them for it

Amber, Tea, and Mari can all do this and the person would have either asked them to or thanked them for doing so because of powers these women possess throughout the story.

11) Listens to gentle instrumental music but looks like they will kill you

Tea is someone I do see as enjoying just peaceful instrumentals during meditation or training, something soothing and calm in the background for her mind to absorb. Make no mistake though, not only does she look like she'll kill you, if you pose a real and present danger to her or those she feels the need to protect, she will gut you.

12) Makes flower crowns

I don't know why but there is actually a scene, because it popped into my head as something cute and light and charming in between some super serious moments, just kind of roughly written out, of both Nina and Cat chilling together in the grass and making flower crowns together for the others.

13) Makes non-funny puns

Amber loves to toss out really horrible pick-up lines to make others laugh and it's hit or miss on whether they succeed. Meanwhile Lou has a very dry and acerbic wit and a lot of their jokes tend to go over people's heads.

14) May or may not own 500 stuffed animals with all intricate plotlines and personalities

Okay, so it's not so much stuffed animals, but I do think Whisp is someone who made up lots of imaginary friends, fully fleshed out people with their own families and stories and personalities, to combat some of the loneliness she's spend a lot of her time in.

15) Has an obsession with dragons

Its' Dell. I don't even know why, it was just the first and immediate answer that came to mind and the only answer that feels at all right.

16 & 17) Doesn't blink twice when it comes to murder & will offer to kill someone for their friend

Okay, I am going to combine these two. And I'm going to be upfront before any of the story beyond the world-building even gets posted. Upfront and honest - The Ever Young is not a soft place. It is not a safe, secure, happy world where there are no real stakes in place. The Ever Young, at the point we go into the story at, is a powder keg, a land on the brink of all out war. There are no guarantees of safety or continued survival for anyone living in that land and even the most pacifistic of these OC's, if push comes to shove, would end up killing to protect either themselves but especially their loved ones.

18) Likes rocks

Mirror, for some reason not even she understands, seems to have retained a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the various types of rocks and gemstones and the symbolism behind them. I mean, she can't remember anything about herself but she knows all that. I also see Marta and Cat both liking pretty rocks and gemstones, with Marta being prone to wearing jewelry made of them, particularly a necklace Kusakabe gifted her made of turquoise.

19) Knows how to bake a cake

I see both Mari and Marta being good bakers. And what's more, it's something both women truly enjoy doing and before things got so bad in The Ever Young, I like to believe the two women would meet up throughout their years growing up together to have baking dates, where they'd talk and laugh and enjoy each others company whilst making delicious treats.

20) Knows all the words to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody

Okay, so again, I don't think this is something that would canonically exist in the world of The Ever Young, but if it did, the answer to this question would be Brooklyn and Cat both because nothing will ever convince me that all of HOMRA's boys don't know every word to this song and that they don't sometimes just spontaneously and drunkenly start singing it in the bar.

21) Has screen shots that will ruin lives

While not screenshots, because again, no cell phones exist in The Ever Young, both Whisp and Dell tend to trade in information and secrets and that's part of what makes both characters quite as dangerous as they are.

22) Likes being petty

Honestly, Amber does find some amount of joy in being a little childish and petty, maybe even instigating some petty revenge or prank wars, though she never becomes actively mean and cruel in those endeavors unless the person in question truly deserves it.

23) Will cut you

Tea is one of the most accomplished and well-known swordswomen in the land. She won't just cut you, she'll carve you up like a Christmas turkey.

24) Will get angry at themselves when they develop a crush on someone

Okay, Mirror struggles to really understand her own emotions and even more so, she struggles to feel like it's okay for her to have any of those emotions, especially towards other people, as she feels she would just be a burden or something unpleasant to them so the first sign of her liking someone would honestly scare her so much. I also think Lou, Dell, and Whisp have really hard times trusting other people fully and so, when they feel that attachment or attraction to another person, they do have some complicated and conflicting emotions because they are scared to let people get too close to them, because they all have been burned badly by people in their pasts.

25) Will fight someone twice their size

Nina? She isn't even five feet tall. Does that stop her from kicking ass and taking on a literal giant at one point? Most definitely not and she'll tell you it was one of the most fun experiences she's ever had, she had a ball going up against him.

2. Album of the year?

It's not an album from this year, not even close, but Departure Songs by We Lost The Sea. It's one of my favourite albums of all time and one that I come back to very often. It helps ground me when I get too anxious and was a much needed source of comfort for a pretty rough year

I mostly stuck to old favourites for this year so I don't really have a good answer for this one :((( (send me songs you think I'll like!!)

6. Episode of TV or webisode that defined the year for you?

Oof... it's gotta be Moonlight Chicken ep 7. Death, grief, community, support, love, carrying on.

7. Favourite actor of the year?

It's been a year of comfort rewatches for me so once again I'm going with an old favourite that I still stand by - Tatiana Maslany, my queen. In my eyes nobody will ever be able to beat her. If you haven't watched Orphan Black, add it to your list and WATCH IT, even if it's just for her - 90% of the show really is just her so it all works out

15. What's a bad habit you picked up this year?

You and @dribs-and-drabbles have yelled at me about it enough this year (with very good reason, ily you both, thank you for looking out for me 💖) to know that it's my complete disregard for sleep as a concept. I'm hoping to change that this year.

18. A memorable meal this year?

Two highlights!

The first is this espresso panna cotta, shared with my best friend in our favourite restaurant in the town we went to college in as our final meal before she left the country to pursue a PhD. So proud of her, miss her so so much 💖

The second I don't have a picture of, but I learnt how to make tom yum soup (thank you thai qls for the cravings!). Paired with some egg noodles, my ultimate comfort food for this year.

21. What's something new about your place of residence (room, home, or general location) now vs the start of the year?

There has been a tray with about 8 different balls of yarn that has been a permanent fixture in a corner of my room for the past 2 years now - my temperature blanket from 2021. For some reason, it just seemed never ending and I had almost given up hope on it ever being a completed project. But I finally finished it about a month ago and have moved on to different projects. Now it's a cozy blanket that I can cuddle under (and scream into) while I watch my fav shows

Ranking the songs from TMBG’s The Spine

The Spine is my favorite TMBG album of all time, so I thought it would be fun to rank the songs bc i love talking about music and making numbered lists :)

16. The World Before Later On - Really neat, I like the sort of message and concept it has, but the sound isn’t my favorite.

15. Spines - Pretty neat, pretty catchy, but it doesnt even compare to its singular counterpart. the instrumental is cool too :)

14. Damn Good Times - I like how bouncy it its and how they lyrics are sung, its really neat!!

13. Au Contraire - Very cool, very catchy, i really like singing along to it!!

12. Wearing A Raincoat - I originally ranked this lower, but changed my mind bc i rlly like the sort of breakdown it has!!! it’s real good, i really like the lyrics :)

11. Thunderbird - The first song i ever heard from The Spine! I found it bc of an ask someone sent me about the song, and i really liked it!! its really catchy :)

10. It’s Kickin’ In - Gosh i love this song it just so catchy!!!! The singing and the instrumental are just perfect, its super fun to dance around to :) also i like the explosion sound at the beginning

9. I Can’t Hide from My Mind - A really good closing song for this album, how it kind of ties into the themes of the mind throughout a couple other songs. A nice chill tune, really cool! :)

8. Memo to Human Resources - I really like the lyrics, and the counting in the background in the first half of the song is really cool me :) its a really cool song overall, and its what gave me the feeling that the rest of  this album would be amazing, even after listening to the best song on the album just before ;)

7. Stalk of Wheat - Really catchy song with a silly instrumental, and i just really like the lyrics!!! theyre really cool :) and the singing is great, overall great song!

6. Prevenge - PREVENGE IS SO GOOD OH MY GOD its just.... oooughh its just great, the instrumental is amazing and the lyrics are super catchy, and the little bridge before the final verses and chorus is my favorite part i absolutely love it <3

5. Bastard Wants to Hit Me - BASTARD WANTS TO HIT ME OMGGGGG it’s really good, so good and so cool!!!! i actually really liked the autotune they use, the lyrics are pretty funny, and the instrumental is just SO GOOD!!! the little guitar like sound during the chorus is my favorite, if you focus you can hear it and its awesome :) (also there was an animation made for it by Laika Studios and its pretty cool!)

4. Museum of Idiots - Museum of Idiots makes me feel.... so much. The whole orchestral instrumental is incredible, the lyrics just really get to me and just everything about it is amazing (it makes me think of pagekat also for some reason)

3. Experimental Film - The second ever song I heard from The Spine! I seeked it out because i heard that the music video had the Homestar Runner characters in it, and I fell in love with it instantly! (it also helped that the main character in the music video was Strong Sad hehe <3) I just love the everything about it; the instrumental, the lyrics, the video, everything! it just makes me happy whenever i listen to it, i makes me want to sing and dance!! :D

2. Broke in Two - Would have been the best song on this album if it not were the song in the number one spot. SO FREAKING CATCHY AND AWESOME AND I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!! <3 (broke in two sweep!!!)

1. Spine - THE MOST PERFECT SONG EVER AND ITS ONLY 33 SECONDS LONG. and maybe (VERY big maybe here) thats a good thing, but i just wish it was longer!!!! the singing and the lyrics just speak to me so much it just makes me feel so much emotion!!!!!!!! the best song in the album by far <3

Dramas I watched in january and february 2023

New year, new dramas, I’m kinda suprised that I alredy watched a lot of dramas. So let’s go to the list:

1) Unforgettable Love

A cute and funny c-drama, about a children’s psychologist that has to treat the son of a CEO (the kid can’t speak because of a trauma). The kid treats the main girl like she is his mother, and obviosly the CEO is gonna fall in love with her. It's a light c-drama, with a couple who have good chemistry and charismatic characters. My only criticism is that it could have had fewer episodes.

2) Love in the Air

I enjoyed it, had fun watching it, but it wasn't a favorite. The story is divided between two couples, and the drama ended up being divided into two parts, 6 episodes for one, 7 episodes for the other. I thought that the story would focus more on the racing part, but they are not as relevant as it seems, the focus is on relationships. In many moments of the story I felt quite uncomfortable because of the violence, especially in the last few episodes, so if you have triggers with things related to sexual abuse, I suggest watching with caution. As for the romance, I was surprised by some scenes because they were very explicit, Thai people are not afraid to have sex scenes.

3) Between Us

I really enjoyed this one, it’s an one night stand that becomes a estabilish relationship without the couple noticing. The main couple is great, the supporting characters are very funny, there’s a drama related with the trauma of the main character, but it’s not heavy enough to make it hard to watch. I’ll be honest, I didn’t really care about the other couples, but it was not boring.

4) Bad Buddy

I had started watching it in 2022, but I didn't want it to end, so I just put it aside for a while, but in February 2023 I decided to finish it because I just love this story, so I rewatched all the episodes and watched the rest. Now I can safely say that this is one of the best dramas that exist in BLlandia, the story is simple but at the same time it doesn't make you bored, you fall in love with the characters, you root and suffer with them, the actors are incredible, and there is a lot of chemistry even though there is no sex scene (which is not necessary, by the way). The OST is wonderful too, I got addicted to "Just Friend?" and "Our song" which are sung during the story. About the ending, it has a bittersweet taste, because it's sad that they have to act like that, but at the same time there's that hope that things will get better. I feel like I'm going to carry this story with me for a while, it's a shame they didn't make a special for it.

5) My School President

Probably my FAVORITE DRAMA OF THE YEAR!! I loved so much this drama, It’s cute, funny, it’s a musical, the characters have a lot of chemestry.  It’s about a music club of a school that is in risk to be closed, so the vocalist and leader of this band tries to save the club running for president of the school, but obviosly it goes wrong and he loses it. And now he has to hope that the elected president to be merciful with them.

I love the characters, the school president (Tinn) is my favorite, he's actually a dork but to everyone he's very serious. Gun is very cool too, and he carries the most dramatic part of the story, the actor is great. The drama has a amazing OST, I recomend to listen to it too.

6) Enchanté

I didn't have much expectation for this one, because I saw a lot of people saying it wasn't very good, but I really liked it. I loved the main couple, there is a mystery in the story, but I think the relationship growth was more interesting. I loved Akk, you can feel the love he has for Theo, and the actor is great. I liked Theo but to be honest I didn't like him in the last episode because I don't think he sacrifices himself enough, I think Akk had to work harder for their relationship. Overall it's a very cute drama, it's fun, I recommend it.

1) Mr Gu 

It’s another CEO drama/ contract relationship. I’m not sure if I’ll finish this one, because with time it becomes very repetitive.

2) The Romance of the tiger and the rose

A very interesting drama about a screenwriter who one day wakes up in the drama she is writing. One thing I’m loving is the fact that the world of the drama is a matriarchy. 

3) Legally Romance

A time travel story in which an aspiring lawyer goes back to her college days and tries to change her destiny.
