First off I guessed that was a pic of Alain Delon, coz he got photographed smoking all the time and the thought of Timmy getting photographed smoking seemed impossible. Second of all, it turns out to be Timmy with a smoking match!! He storied the pic with "strike another match/ go / start anew". Okaaay. But I'm unstanning because of his font choice. Coz ew. jk, jk.

i just found out that jessica's face tattoos translate to the litany against fear which... wow. (for those curious, david j peterson, the linguist behind the chakobsa in dune part two, posted it to his twitter account. edit: i've been informed he also has a tumblr account @dedalvs check him out)

we can see jessica recite this litany during the water of life scene in dune part two, but also during paul's gom jabbar scene and the desert storm scene in dune part one. it goes as follows:

david j peterson is also the dude behind a bunch of other popular conlangs, like the dothraki and valyrian languages from game of thrones. i was so hyped to hear he'd partnered on with denis villeneuve for the dune movies and he did not disappoint! you can thank him for the realism of paul's chakobsa scenes in part two, especially his final grand speech.

one of many compelling devils minion things 2 me is how it starts out as a horror story from daniel's pov and a romance from armands. like daniel gets tortured and stalked and deals with every possible moral & ethical inner conflict Especially wrt his own desires and self disgust, meanwhile armand has decided to cast himself in the role of manic pixie dream girl. (emphasis on manic)

and then as soon as armand realizes his remaining choices are to turn daniel into a vampire or let him die, there is a Hard Reversal and suddenly armand is living his worst nightmare while daniel is granted his greatest wish.

tvc is full of almosts and parallels but i do love the specific brand of tragedy inherent in the genre disconnect of the dm relationship. theyre perfect for each other and horrible for each other and they can never and will never be on the same page. any change you could make to their stories to make the relationship actually function healthily would necessitate an irrevocable & irreconcilable change in character. their love cant fix or change the people that they are. they keep loving each other anyway. it kills them both but sustains them like a curse. do u see??? do u see.

I will not insist on strictly canon depictions. Insisting on strictly canon depictions is the fandom-killer. It is pedantry and jerk behaviour that demotivates fanartists and fic writers. I will face not-canon-accurate depictions. I will permit myself to either enjoy them or look the other way if they are not to my taste.
