Some past 1x headcanons (theories if we’re stretching it) aaaand u can have some art to go along with it :)

1: At first 1x was made out of boredom. Telamon wanted to make a little assistant of his own, but ended up making a child. Sure the child was atleast already 7-8 and would never cry or want for anything but it was a child nonetheless. Telamon had to feed it, house it, water it and the such, which was borrrring. Taking responsibility sucked.

2. 1x was made as a blank slate, hence they’re basic appearance. Didn’t really have a personality of their own for a while and was just there to run errands (see figure 1) for Telamon. Most people in the Roblox HQ knew him as the little guy that unfortunately has to put up with Telamon’s shit.

3: 1x was basically self sufficient. Sure He lived with Telamon but he made himself meals from anything left in Telamon’s fridge, got himself/ helped Telamon get ready in the morning. Brighteyes would give them Robux to go get themselves treats from time to time (see figure 2). She thought he was a good kid.

4: It wasn’t entirely child labour. Telamon gave him breaks but what was there to do? 1x had no friends unless you counted the adults he worked with. No kids his age to play with he knew, no school, no nothing.

5: This is more into theory territory I think? 1x isn’t just literally Telamon’s/shedletsky’s hatred, but a representative for something he hated, being mature and responsible. Telamon prided himself on being the admin who did whatever, whenever. An unpredictable force of nature. But having to take care of something? It felt like shackles to him. So maybe he left it in the Banlands so he’d never have to think of it again. Might change this later though, seems a bit cruel.

Not sure yet what I headcanon happened to him to become hatred and stuff, and I don’t wanna go all out cause I hate being wrong. /silly

im not seeing enough love for delta slim. there's a large part of the narrative - that tragedy and hope are two sides of the same coin - which is expressed by him and his dedication to still performing.

performing the blues both because of and in spite of all the things that have happened to him. he's introduced as someone we're supposed to feel sorry for (his drunken state, his fear of his own mortality, the tragedy and brutality he's seen) and yet!!!! and yet!!!! hes still clinging to his passion with bloodied fingertips!!! still playing, still making music!!!

i can't remember smoke's exact line, but it's something like 'I've met plenty of musicians, but I've never met a happy one'. in a way, that's true of all the musicians in the film (pearline is implied to be unhappy in her marriage, the twins' father is stated to have been an awful man, etc). it's especially true for delta slim...but it's not true for sammie, not really, not when it's all but stated outright that sammie feels trapped and stifled by everything except music.

delta slim sees that passion, and he gives his life for sammie in the hope that the music sammie makes will live on. that despite everything that happens, he'll survive and he'll keep playing. he'll cling to that passion with bloodied fingers.

These all work for the story, and good to know most folks still see what Gibson intended (though the runner-up might be just as cool in a fresh way).
