Promise
Nasiens wiped a tear away from her face, worrying Percival. He immediately got next to her, putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Nasiens? Are you ok?" Nasiens nodded.
"Yes... I'm just so glad we are all together again...!"
She smiled and her friends smiled back at her. They were all really happy but they were also exhausted. They decided to grab something to eat before bed.
"You coming guys?" Donny asked, walking behind Anne.
"Ah, we'll be right there!" Percival answered, gently tightening his grip on Nasiens. She looked up at him, confused but also in awe.
She couldn't help it. Her heart started beating faster whenever she looked at him. So handsome and strong... She shook her head. Now wasn't the time. After all, he looked worried.
"What's wrong, Percival?" they were alone in the balcony and the silence unnerved her a little.
She found herself engulfed by two strong arms holding her tightly. Percival face was buried in her chest, making her blush. She prayed he didn't notice her growth...!
He did, and he liked it, but kept it to himself. There was something way more important to ask now.
"...do you forgive me Nasiens?" his voice was a whisper and it shocked her. She hugged him back, rubbing his back. He sounded... scared?
This kindhearted boy was going to be her end.
"Oh, Percival... there's nothing to be forgiven," she said, petting his head and resting her face on him, talking as gently as she could, "the decision you made hurt you too, I'm sure... and everything you did was to help us, and we know that. I know that." she took a deep breath, waiting for him to understand her words. She continued, "it was... very lonely. And scary. I missed you so much...! But I never lost hope you were coming back to me..."
Percival looked up at her from his position, his eyes sparkling. It made her realize her choice of words. Her face became all red.
"AH! I MEAN...! US! I meant... come back to us...!" she wanted to hide but her hat was on the floor so she opted for her hands. Her hands were cold against her face. Maybe that would cool her down.
What an embarrassing thing to say...!
Percival just tightened his hold on her, making her whimper.
"Percival...?"
He stood to his full height, never breaking his hold on her. He put his hand on her hair, bringing her face to his.
She honestly thought he didn't know what a kiss was, but good lord, was she mistaken.
He was definitely being driven by instinct. The kiss had started chaste, albeit a little rough, but soon became desperate. Years of yearning surfaced and Nasiens moaned into his lips, giving him entrance. His tongue pressed against hers and her knees buckled, making her almost fall. Thankfully, Percival was still holding her.
The need to breathe made them stop. They refused to separate, though. He rested his forehead on hers, still flushed by the kiss and looking for another one. Nasiens was no better. She was almost hyperventilating, but the excitement was too great. Her hand squeezed his shirt, trying to get him even closer. She wanted to kiss him again.
But Percival gently cupped her face, his eyes suddenly firm, looking at her intensely. He had to make something clear to her first.
"I'm always coming back to you. I promise."
Nasiens felt tears forming in her eyes again. She hugged him, burying her face on his chest.
"Please make sure you do...!"
Half an hour later they arrived at the dinner table. Neither Donny or Anne asked why Nasiens' lips were all puffy and red, or why Percival had claw-like marks on the back of his neck.
Some things were better left ignored.

my fave thing is seeing people describe raccoon city as a huge city and it's like. that is a town with a population of 100k. i understand the portrayal is wack but literally it's a town of 100k people.
that is, at best, a mid-size town. they got lucky and were selected as a pilot program for a subway system that never got rolled out to the rest of the us because our infrastructure is garbage. umbrella put their lab there BECAUSE it's unassuming. everywhere we walk through in re2 and re3? that's just downtown. the rest of the city doesn't look like that. it's wide roads and cospes of businesses. chris leans over jill's desk in the morning and asks, "did you see they're building something on the corner of north and main?" and jill doesn't even look up because "it's probably another bank."
when rebecca, fresh out of college, selects STARS out of all the organizations vying for her talent, people scratch their heads. she could be living somewhere much more glamorous. somewhere you don't have to drive 45 minutes to find something to do. but rebecca sees potential in everything. she's got a real sixth sense for when a place is about to blow up.
