It's not often that he does a double take, but when he saw you for the first time, he was instantly smitten by you.

He tried to play it off, but Lo'ak notices everything. No one is save from his teasing, especially not his siblings.

It started small, when Lo'ak would leave you and Neteyam because he had "businesses" to attend, which was most likely tea parties with Tuk or watch Tsireya just existing.

After a while though, Lo'ak started to yell your name when they were near you or pretends to tell you about his brother's crush on you, just to ask something completely off topic. He's just trying to annoy Neteyam at this point.

And it works.

Neteyam is usually composed and cool, but when you're near, his walls break down completely. It's like you're poisoning his mind with your whole being. There's nothing else he can think about when he lays awake at night. You're everywhere, even if you're not actually there.

One time, he tried to kiss you on the cheek, but you turned away so he kissed the tree beside you. It was pretty embarrassing, and the worst part:

Lo'ak and Ao'nung saw it 💀

It was literally an invitation for them to make jokes about it and mock him. But luckily, your focus was somewhere else, so you didn't notice anything.

Neteyam sometimes giggles at your jokes, even if they're not funny at all. Others mostly laugh out of pity, but there is he, unironically choking his lungs out.

But you're Y/N, so you're, of course, oblivious to everything. Though that's better than to see the guy embarrass himself time after time 😐

Bro needs to take a breath sometime, you're too much to handle for him. You're literally perfect in his eyes.

He's extremely interested in your home too. He'll listen to everything you tell him, even if Tsireya or Ao'nung already mentioned it. It just sounds better when it comes out of your mouth.

IMAGINE A METKAYINA READER WITH MERLIAH’S HAIR STREAKS?? Also, think of Lo’ak’s inner monologue as amore mio aiutami. It sounds exactly like what he was thinking lmao

Lo'ak stared in awe at your figure in the ocean.

He had never seen anything like what you were doing right now!

There was a massive wave in the midst of the waters, and you were standing on some weird board Lo’ak had never seen before.

He couldn’t wrap his head around how you were gliding across the wave on this board, performing bottom turns and snapping against the wave.

How were you doing that??

But that wasn’t the only thing he noticed about you.

Aside from how impressive it was that you somehow managed to stay upright while riding this fairly massive wave, Lo’ak’s eyes raked over you affectionately.

The way your bangles glinted against the sunlight, or how the remnants of water droplets on your blue skin left behind a pretty sheen.

Maybe he was just looking at you through rose tinted glasses, but to him, you were practically sparkling in the water.

What also caught his eye were the pretty blue streaks in your hair; he hadn’t noticed them before, but they were far more apparent when you hit the water.

He secretly wished he could card his fingers through those blue streaks.

Jake noticed his son staring at you intently, and punched his shoulder lightly. He had never seen his son so whipped for someone before!

You did a cutback, and before Lo’ak could shift his lingering gaze away from you, he caught your eye.

Before surfing away from the wave, you beamed at him, dimples on full display just for him.

He felt his heart stop the moment he saw you do so, and the wink you sent in his direction made him go into cardiac arrest.

You chuckled at his reaction, and soon disappeared behind the wave.

Kiri and Neteyam gagged besides him as they witnessed the entire ordeal, then started laughing to each other about how their brother was behaving.

He turned around to argue with them about what was so funny, but stopped when you emerged from the water and made your way to him, board under your arm.

You brushed your stray tresses aside, and asked him what he thought of your surfing.

Surfing? Is that what that was?

Of course he stuttered trying to say it was cool, but you merely giggled at his flushed demeanor.

You held out your hand for him, asking if he wanted to try.

Now Jake joined his children in snickering at Lo’ak’s bashful countenance.

Lo’ak shot a glare at his family, then accepted your hand.

He was definitely gonna rock this surfing shit.

He didn’t mind, though. His failed attempts at surfing on a wave only served to make you smile, so he didn’t care.

As long as it was because of him you were happy.

you woke up to spider shaking you softly, it was bright outside which was something you were not used to since you pretty much spent all your time in the lab

"y/n/n you're the last one up"

"holy shit what? why didn't you wake me up earlier?" you say with a groan

"baby we did or at least tried to, i was the last one to try"

Neteyam come in and starts laughing, you glare at him

"why the fuck are you laughing?"

"no it's just that lo'ak owes me and spider since he said there was no way spider could wake you up, but it looks like he did!" Neteyam says gleefully 

you groan and try and lay back down but spider grabs you

"nuh uh y/n you gotta get up" he says as you continue to struggle against his grasp

"I'll leave her to you" neteyam says as he walks out

you continue to fight spider and eventually he gets annoyed so he just tosses you on his shoulder and starts to walk

"shit! spider! put me down!" you say trying to get off

"no chance y/n/n you needed to get up and if i didn't do that you would've gone back to sleep" 

after marching you out to where everyone was he finally put you down

"good morning y/n!" tuk says giving you a hug

"morning tuk" you hug her back

"why was spider carrying you?" Lo'ak blurted out and as expected everyone was staring at him

"uh cause she wasn't going to get up and come out if i didn't" spider says looking at Lo'ak strangely

"why can't he do that hm? you jealous?" kiri says joining in on the conversation

"what no why would i be" Lo'ak says bitterly 

spider knew full well that lo'ak had a crush on you and was going to do everything in his power to make sure that you were not going to end up with him

"alright kids settle down" jake says coming over to you guys

"but things just got so interesting" neteyam says with a pout

you all laugh not realizing the Lo’ak was evidently pissed at all of yall

jake tells everyone that some of yall can go fishing with him, Neytiri, and tuk or go exploring

You all decided that you were just going to go exploring since in all honesty no one wanted to go fishing

as you guys started exploring, you noticed lo'ak kind of lingering behind the group

you decide to hang back and talk to him

"hey lo'ak you good?"

he looks at you like a deer in headlights, shocked that you decided to talk to him

it seemed that the whole time or even whenever you were allowed out the lab spider was always all over you, giving him barely anytime with you and obviously making him jealous. the worst part? you never even tried to stop spider which made lo'ak mad

"yeah im good, why whats up?" he said looking down at you

"nothing you just look pale and upset"

"yeah little bro you should go back to camp, you look like you're gonna faint or something" neteyam says looking back at the two of you 

"alright i guess I'll go…" Lo'ak says turning around

"i can go with him" you say looking at the group "y'know to make sure he doesn't get lost or anything" 

"thanks y/n" Lo'ak says looking at you and starting to walk, you folkowing behind

Kiri and Neteyam turn to spider whose eyes are narrowed and looks mad

"Dude you good?" Neteyam says looking at spider

"Yeah…no… i dont know" spider says sitting down

"Spider you like y/n its so obvious that its kinda vomit worthy" kiri says kneeling next to spider

"Yeah you get jealous whenever she's with or talking to lo'ak" neteyam adds

"i dont get jealous!" spider says looking at the two

As funny as I find Jake being jealous about reader looking for someone to be with, I find Lo’ak being annoyed that um’ma reader isn’t around as much cause she hanging out with some new guy instead of with the family, Cue Lo’ak constantly butting in whenever he sees reader in a conversation with the dude and just either literally picking her up and walking away or saying Jake needs her for something, no the something can’t wait it has to be now!

lo'ak would turn into a goddamn menace

i work with 14 yr olds and they terrify me lmao, one of them tried to set me up with a stranger who works in a coffee shop down the street because she thought he was cute (without my knowledge) and now i have to walk an extra ten mins to go to another coffee shop 😭 so embarrassing

SO i have no doubt that lo'ak would be pulling some mad shit trying to wiggle his way in between umma and this new challenger, sitting on your knee (despite the fact that he is way too old and big to be doing this; he knows that you're not gonna push him off), interrupting conversations, trying to trip him up with his tail when you're not looking, dragging you away under false pretenses by saying you're needed for something else, etc.

he's also gonna be harrassing jake and neytiri. it doesn't even matter if they're carefully planning their next move to impress you or win you back. lo'ak is over their shoulders the whole damn time with his little comments of "that's a stupid idea. she's not gonna be impressed with that" or "dad, you're so bad at weaving, let mom do it" or "why are you taking so long?"

also, catch him talking up his parents something fierce to you. it's a strange change; usually, you're who lo'ak goes to when he wants to vent about not being understood. now though, he's coming to you to talk about how strong jake is, how he protects his family, how neytiri is so caring and loving, how they'd do anything for the people they love. he's like their number one ambassador, but only to you. he's still shooting them scowls behind your back, silent little glares that say "fix this!"

When I read They Saw Trouble in My Eyes I picture Spider like Jack Champion: much taller than Lo'ak and more built than Neteyam. Its so funny to me that IRL Jack Champion is buff and very tall but in most fics Spider is waifish (directly contrasting canon) and short.

LMAO he really does get debuffed. I made Spider taller than Lo’ak in they say trouble because Lo’ak is like a twig and I think it’s funny to give him a complex, but you simply cannot tell me spider deserves to be tall in au’s when this video exists. Bro is 🤏

i 1000% know kiri is a crystal girl and i have been saying this since i first saw her. her room is definitely very earthy, over run by plants and crystals and definitely has a hammock in the corner w fairy lights being her main source of light. could see the family pet cat only staying in her room so she has scratching posts too i just know it. has crocheted blankets on the bed and tapestries on the walls. very cozy

neteyam's room is like. so tidy LMAO but not in a Clean Way in like a "does not like having things out of place because it makes him feel unorganized" way and definitely has collections of various things sorted around his room. could see him being the type to either have a record wall or a movie/concert poster wall. bed is always made but do not let it fool you his closet is.. a mess..... could see him having a weightlifting corner like a dork too i won't lie

lo'ak.... it's musty i'm sorry. it's not even like necessarily DIRTY he just has worn clothes covering the floor and half empty water bottles EVERYWHERE. definitely has a twin bed that's sheet is always halfway off the mattress. leaves dirty dishes piled on the end table until he's forced to take them to the kitchen. has one corner of the room dedicated to all of his shoes tho. oh and always has red led lights on

tuk's room is either insanely messy or insanely neat and that just depends on whether or not neytiri has forced her to clean it yet or not. there's a toy corner but none of her toys stay there. for sure has one of those princess drape things hanging above her bed. she has some of neteyam's old posters on her walls to cover up where she colored on them with crayon. always something sticky on the carpet

jake and neytiri's room is incredibly neat at all times except for the corner where jake throws his clothes and misses the hamper lmao. i could see them having an accent wall (that jake made fun of but neytiri loves) and a messy dresser w pictures of all the kids on it. neytiri's half of the bed is always made but jake's is... questionable. there's an ottoman at the end of the bed everyone stubs their toe on. (mostly jake. it's funny)

Hey 🧡 Thank you for the love, I have fun making them! Lowkey bummed my posts aren’t posting to tags anymore but alas. With the recent "what ships piss you off + what ships do you love" trend going around Twitter, I was just thinking about mine the other day and realized most of them have some sort of angst to them 😅 Outside of NAMOR X SHURI, here are some of my other fave ships over the years [in no particular order] Let’s get into it *cracks knuckles*

A. SAM X BUCKY: "Can you move your seat up?" "No."

I have to say that this ^ line reeled me in but what sealed my fate was the offscreen friendship between Antony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. Those damn compilation vids on yt killed me; they are too funny together. I genuinely feel like they aren't even acting when they work together. You can see their friendship shine through, and I think that's why Marvel realized they needed to do something with this goldmine. In regards of the characters Sam and Bucky tho, I enjoy both a romantic or platonic love between them. There's a strong connection there either way full of support, transparency, shared pain etc and these two losers have my heart. Also, I will never get over that scene in Endgame when Steve speaks with Sam and before accepting the shield, Sam looks over at Bucky and Bucky nods in support *ugly cries*

Show: The Falcon & The Winter Soldier

B. FLEABAG X PRIEST: "I love you." "It will pass."

This ship is definitely one of those ships that devastated me 🥴 Their awkward and yet endearing connection was everything. Fleabag’s dry humor and wit just jelled so well with the Priest in such an unassuming and comforting way. She truly found her match, which made the whole thing that much more tragic. The parts where he broke the fourth wall with the audience and questioned who she was talking to took me out lmao. I was heartbroken with how the show ended but in the midst of everything, it felt fitting. I don’t think they should have done it any different. I also find it funny that we never learn Fleabag or the Priest’s actual names.

C. INUYASHA X KAGOME: "Sit boy!"

These two are one of my first ships when I was young so the nostalgia hits hard with them. As an adult looking back tho, Inuyasha and Kagome’s relationship pissed me off the majority of the show rofl. His back and forth with Kikyo was SO unnecessary. They were so aggravating at times that at one point it was a toss up between Inuyasha and Koga for me. Koga was looking like the better man for Kagome. He meant business and knew where his priorities were. But in the midst of it all, Inuyasha and Kagome’s bond just did something for me. I remember younger me freaking out every time Inuyasha lost his shit and went full demon mode when Kagome was in any eminent danger. I was like “that’s love right there” lmao smh. Also the fact that they kissed like one time [twice??] during the entire show was so *screams into void*

Show: Inuyasha

D. LO'AK X TSIREYA: "Outcast - that's all they see!" "I see you."

Shout out to my fellow Avatar fans out there ✌🏾 I remember when the first movie came out, I freaked out and wanted a banshee SO BAD bruh lol. With the second installment and it’s new batch of dope characters, there’s so much to talk about [especially with these two]. They are basically a mirror of Jake × Neytiri, but in a different font? I love how attentive Tsireya is with Lo’ak and how much she looks out for him and his siblings. She was the first person to truly embrace and see him for him. Their love lanquage is clearly physical contact and it's too adorable. I look forward to seeing how their dynamic/ relationship evolves over future films to come. My blue babes 💙

Movie: Avatar - The Way of Water

E. STEVEN / MARC X LAYLA: "I don't need protection. What I need is honesty."

First of all, this show was sick on so many levels! You’re telling me we got to have a Guatemalan-American actor and Egyptian-Palestinian actress play mcu characters in a show revolving around Egyptian gods and legends sprinkling in themes of mental health and family?? To say I can’t wait for the second season is an understatement, but I digress. I loved Oscar and May together on screen. It was funny seeing Steven and Marc go back and forth over their dynamic with Layla and then Layla grappling with the multifaceted differences of the man [men?] she loved. I enjoyed all of the action sequences but I hope we get to see more of their complicated relationship explored in the future. It’s just so fascinating to me. I will never get over Steven kissing Layla for the first time and Marc absolutely losing it lmao.

Show: Moon Knight

F. AMY X DANNY: "Why is it so hard for us to be happy?"

Now before y’all hop on my dick for posting about this show [in the midst of recent controversy w/ David Choe, which f*ck that guy btw🖕🏾] I watched this BEFORE Choe’s shit came to light. I can’t tell you what to do. You have to personally make that judgment call of whether or not you want to support/watch the show yourself. Anywho *fixes clothes* This show is insane. It's hilarious, tragic, relatable, the whole nines. There’s so much to it but these two specifically take the cake for me. Amy and Danny's relationship take a minute to come into fruition but by the time I got to the end, I was hooked. I also just need Ali and Steven to do another project together because their a quirky pair, but their a pair I didn't know I needed until now. It was beautiful to see how despite all of their strife, Amy and Danny truly saw one another’s souls. They were reflections of one another. That entire tripping sequence in the desert the last ep was funny af but beyond deep.

Show: Beef

G. DRUIG X MAKKARI: "My beautiful, beautiful Makkari. Did you miss me?"

I'm going to be real with y’all, Druig and Makkari were the one good thing that came out of Eternals for me [aside from Kingo and Phastos' roles]. I don’t know what it was but I couldn't get into the movie for some reason and what threw me was the fact that I thought I would. They only had like 2 seconds on screen but they were the only thing I could think of walking out that theater. I swear I couldn't get over their charming dynamic. That scene where Makarri thought Druig was killed and starts going ape shit on Ikarus was peak cinema. No one harms her man! It was also such a dope moment to learn later on that the actress who plays Makarri, Lauren Ridloff, is deaf in real life. I bow down to that Queen. These two characters are just *chefs kiss* and I really hope Marvel doesn't mess up a good thing and we get to see their relationship blossom over time in a beautiful way. This Druig ^ line KILLED me. Me and who when?

Movie: Eternals

H. ZUKO X KATARA: "You rise with the moon. I rise with the sun."

Yes Aang x Katara are cute but Zutara? ZUTARA?? *violently bangs credit card on table* It was full of angst, grief, healing, sexual tension, the list goes on. They could relate to one another’s pain with losing a parent and so on. Zuko helping her find and confront her mother’s killer was everything too. Of course she had every right to be pissed at him and the fire nation but it was nice seeing Zuko work to gain Katara’s trust over time. He caused so much pain and damage to the avatar crew so for him to come back and try and rectify things was monumental. This is also one of those shows growing up that had me in a chokehold. I couldn’t decide what element I wanted to bend because all benders were so badass to me [my girl Toph was the mvp tho. Hands down the coolest].

Show: Avatar - The Last Airbender

I. RAGNAR X LAGERTHA: "We shall meet again and fight, and drink, and love one another."

Where are my fellow Viking fans? ⚔️ This show was INCREDIBLE and their love story specifically was so layered and complicated. Lagertha was the epitome of loyal but I love that outside of her dynamic with Ragnar, she was just such a dope character overall. She really held her own and took no shit from anyone, man or woman. Her hands were rated E for everyone. Their love had its huge ups and downs but you could tell after everything, there was still a deep affection there. They would do anything for one another and that was apparent every step of the way. Even after Ragnar’s death, Lagertha still kept the love she held for him in her heart. His dynamic with each character on the show was intriguing but nothing beats their powerful connection. She was one of the few people who got to see all of the real and raw sides of him and that was beautiful. The show was never the same once Ragnar’s character died [which I still don’t understand this monumental writing decision??] but it was amazing nonetheless.

Show: Vikings

J. LOUIS X LESTAT: "I wanted to forget him, and yet it seemed I thought of him always."

I didn’t watch the first iteration of this novel so I was completely new going into the show. I heard about it way after it came out but it did not disappoint. It lived up to the hype 100%. Louis, Lestat and Claudia were such a disastrous trio but I loved the little family they created [before things went south rofl]. Louis and Lestat’s story was intriguing and I was engaged from start to finish. I swear that moment when the reporter Daniel put two and two together that Louis gave Lestat an out, I yelled at my screen lol. Their love was intense to say the least and although certain moments were hard to watch, these two were electric. With that, it was so suspenseful watching Louis and Claudia ban together towards the end and scheme against Lestat to gain their freedom. The whole thing was just so *sighs* *refrains from writing a novel*

Show: Interview with the Vampire

K. BRAEDEN X DEREK: "I’m protecting my investment."

I know a lot of people shipped him and Stiles together [I mostly enjoyed their entertaining dynamic in a platonic way] but Derek and Braeden did something for me. They fought bad guys while being domestic together and younger me ate that shit up lol. Also seeing a black woman be in a type of role and show like this was also 1000/10. More black women in fantastical roles please 🙏🏾 I feel like this was the first healthy romantic relationship Derek was in too and it just had good vibes all around. He truly learned to trust a lover again. They are for sure one of my favorite ships. Woo and Jun-Ho need to be protected at all costs 🫶🏾 I don’t even know where to start with these two or this show. If you haven’t watched it yet, please go watch it. It’s on my top kdrama list for sure. Being close to people in my life with Autism, it was heartwarming to see how Jun-ho treated Woo. He treated her like a human being. He was loving, empathetic, patient, kind. All of the ways you should be with others in general, no matter how different or similar they are to you. It was fascinating seeing how the show tackled the subject of relationships that involve differing mental conditions and capabilities. The show was such a slow burn with them that when they had their first kiss I LOST it. I was giggling, screaming and kicking my feet in real time lmao. I’m conflicted bc I want to see a S2 but I also want it to stay the way it is. I don’t know how they would continue everyone’s story but if they resume it, I will be SAT.

And I think what really kills me inside is the fact that Neteyam probs is going to be in A3, but only as flashbacks or memories in the Spirit Tree.
