Every time someone comments the state of musical theatre in their country by saying musicals here should be presented in English because the translations are awful, a muse loses its lyre.

I mean, sure, if you think musicals should always be sung in their original language to preserve the exact vocal flow the original artists intended or whatever other purist connoisseur reason, fine. You're entitled to that opinion.

But other than that, the correct statement is this: musicals here should be translated better because the current translations are awful.

Just saying.

like, Serana, genuine question, do you just hate being outside?? if so, you should have reconsidered tagging along with a literal Ranger of the wilds. Outside is kind of his Whole Thing. He lives and breathes Outside. If you coop him up for too long he'll start to wilt like a houseplant left in my care. I start foaming at the mouth when i see tourists being like “aha this local tried to scam me by charging me ONE WHOLE DOLLAR for their homemade dessert. Psh. I paid them 30 cents.” Like you will tip your servers 25% because your ass government wont pay them themselves but draw the line at poor people in poor countries charging you 50 cents more than they charge locals. I don’t like hanahaki disease for the same reason I don’t like soulmates. It removes the choice. All the love and feelings feel instantly dampened by the lack of choice. I mean I get that with hanahaki disease there is technically a choice, but “love me back or I’ll die” isn’t really a choice, and the other options aren’t much better either

These aren’t good alternatives, if still feels forced and one sided

Ok so full disclaimer: never took a creative writing class so I'm kinda shit at it. If you come across this and like it, feel free to take it and run.

Childe is the abyss prince.

Born human, stolen as an infant and changed in the abyss, marked by prophecy to either help the abyss conquer the world or end it. Obviously that left some of the abyss citizens a tad upset. Skirk steals him away *again* and teaches him fighting and survival and then promptly steals him away back to the human realm, where he's adopted by the Tsaritsa. At this point he's maybe 13-14, only used to life on the run with Skirk and has to come to terms with the fact that he's human, not abyss.

When the different factions of the abyss come knocking quite a few years later, the Tsaritsa does everything she can to secure her adopted sons future. The heavenly realm holds no love for the human realm, but they HATE the abyss. They would love to have ownership of the person that prophesies the doom to one or the other. The Tsaritsa seizes any opportunity she can to take hold of the situation and arranges Childe to marry Morax, a warrior God who can surely protect him and doesn't care enough about humanity to hurt him.

Now Childe has to contend with a new culture *again*, along with navigating his feelings about his home realm who want him to end his new home entirely. There's also the whole ass God he's pretty sure his adoptive mom just sold him to.

Bros gonna have soooo many complexes. It's even better when he finally learns wayyyy down the line what the prophecy was about. Each family taught him whatever they could to bend the prophecy one way or another but forgot to mention the actual prophecy.

life is jsut like. Public/private trauma diary from one of the most eventful horrors of my young life which I have not even begun to process and yet cannot actually come outright with for fear of communal ostracization, antisemitic reprisal, or else ammunition for further mass murder. Two weeks ago this was a fandom blog. I hope everyone is having fun with their three inflammatory activism posts and then blorbo gifsets

I called reps and senators to ask for ceasefire AND end to military funding until the two state solution is respected and IL removes presence from West Bank, I think the calls were good and very impassioned! Heart on the telephone line. I know that it’s just a matter of calls yes/no but for demographic reasons I don’t think this issue is on reps mind and I don’t think they’ll get many calls. Now I want them to act on it but also never mention me again, because it turns out these are Unpopular Opinions, at least for some, in community I thought was Sane, and a board member was certainly bothered by my naming the Jewish community I’m a part of to to the reps. I didn’t tell her I really laid my heart on the floor about how much these events has bothered me and begged for an end to it. Weaponised Jewish trauma. Anyway. I shouldn’t be terrified but I’m now terrified they’ll actually pay attention and name me, who is now bad Jew, and needed to be told more specifically how traumatic this was for Jews.
