not to be insane about her on main but you know I never stopped thinking about jessica right. you know I never stopped thinking about jess lockwood
shes like. she's JESS.
shes haunting the narrative. she's haunting lockwood. shes haunting nothing at all, in the literal sense, which is rather strange. shes in Lucy's face and the way she stands at the door. shes got lockwoods eyes, or maybe hes got hers. she's burned into her bedset. she's burned into her house. she's burned into wood. she's a broken pot. she's a clumsy rapier. she's waiting at the apple tree. shes sleeping under her covers. she likes stickers. she's a kid, she's a guardian, she's not going to take off the baby wallpaper in her bedroom. she's clung to youth. she's forced to grow up. she's younger than her baby brother. she's the world. shes important enough to die for. she's important enough to live because of. she's blue and swollen and on the floor and dead. she's pale and smiling and holding her brother in her lap, immortalized, shoved in a dresser drawer because somebody couldnt handle seeing her face.
she's that important. she's that important.
she's a lockwood, she's a mirror, she's lucy joan carlyle and anthony john lockwood and a reminder and a child and doomed, doomed, doomed in such a way that she could save everyone else.
she's the boxes lockwood couldn't open. she's the right time. she's warm feathers and stitches purposefully undone.
in her childishly wallpapered room, she is sitting, watching, cross legged on her bed.

i literally don’t care who says otherwise, lucy and lockwood are the most UNHINGED CODEPENDENT FREAKS of any media. from their very first interaction lucy can already see herself fighting ghosts alongside lockwood indefinitely. lockwood giving lucy his sister’s necklace. basically the entirety of the hollow boy. come off it, luce, you know i’d die for you. lucy leaving the agency so lockwood doesn’t end up dying because of her. lockwood waiting for The Case Of A Lifetime to get lucy to come back to him. their journey to the other side. lockwood saving lucy when her cape tore. THEIR MATCHING WHITE STREAKS. lucy and lockwood becoming even closer after their trip to the other side. lockwood showing lucy his families’ graves. he will sacrifice his life for you. lucy swinging from a trapeze to save lockwood. skull implying that lucy is lockwood’s reason for living. it was a symbol of his undying devotion. lucy always staying behind with lockwood when he tells the others to go without him. lucy knowing that lockwood will inevitably follow her to penelope’s room in fittes house. lockwood arriving at the penthouse and lucy’s heart singing at his arrival. lucy staying with lockwood because she couldn’t imagine living without him. lockwood asking lucy out for a walk and gifting her his mother’s necklace. lucy putting on the necklace and ending the story with her going to lockwood.

Lockwood and Co Appreciation Week 2024 - Day 2, Favourite Underrated Moment
The Lavender Lodge Case
This case is a literary masterpiece. It's got everything: suspense, action, humor, the skull being a snarky little shit

Thinking about what a season 2 of the show would/could look like, I tend to assume there would be a little less antagonism with the Lucy/Holly relationship - similar to what they did with George in season 1. Mostly because I think the show makes Lucy a little less of a “Not Like Other Girls” girl (understandable, that’s generally a phase that young girls grow out of, and show!Lucy is older) but also because the Lucy/Holly rivalry was always *really* about Lucy’s relationship with Lockwood anyway, and I can see the show making that more explicit. But then I wonder if the poltergeist at Aickmere’s would still be a result of that Holly/Lucy fight, or maybe they’d bring Lockwood into it, or even the whole team. I’m a big fan of the trio fight in episode 4, so I’d be more than happy to see them play up the rifts between all of them near the end of that storyline. Would make Lucy’s leaving even more heartbreaking imo.

I just started reading the third book for Lockwood and Co and my favorite thing is the first case they are working on. Like there’s so much chaos...George manages to set Lockwood on fire and then Lucy chucks a water bottle at him to put it out and it hits him in the head and knocks him out the window. They’re more of a danger to him than the ghost at this point and it’s hilarious.

The world is not prepared for the person I will turn into once Lockwood says "come off it, you know I'd die for you" to Lucy in the show.

OK although we were ROBBED of the slow motion team failure at Lavender Lodge ft. Lucy BEANING Lockwood in the head with a water bottle, part of me thinks we might not have gotten it in the show anyway??
The books are absolute PEAK comedy but the show tends to downplay the humour for being ✨atmospheric✨ and tense which I totally get because you want to hook in viewers who haven’t read the books. But that means we kind of miss out on some of the bits that had me creased when I read them.

Not me crying over this scene again. When Lockwood gets blasted away from the well, he wakes up and thinks Lucy is Jess for a moment. But right before that, we have this scene.
What I love about it, is Lockwood is so resolute—after Jess, after his parents, he couldn't lose someone else. And we know from THB that Lucy reminds Lockwood a lot of Jess—I think that's partly why he's always so desperate to save Lucy (not to mention that's just who Lockwood is and that even here, Lockwood has early feelings for Lucy)—in some ways, she's the do-over he never got to have with Jessica.
I also think that in many ways, this is why Lockwood comes to love Lucy so quickly. Like the famous Fleabag quote—"With all the love I have for her. I don't know where to put it now," I honestly think that's how Lockwood felt after Jess died. He had all this love left and nowhere to put it.
And here comes Lucy, so brave, so talented, so alike to Jess in so many ways (though there are notable differences), and Lockwood just immediately latches on - like here is someone I can place this love onto.
And then eventually that familial love turns romantic as Lockwood and Lucy grow and mature.
It's just so stunning, and I love that Stroud has Lockwood think Lucy is Jess several times in the earlier books, because of this.

I was standing in front of his door and I looked great. (ich stand vor seiner Tür und sah toll aus)
This is one of the scenes I love the most. Because even if she doesn't want to put him in danger, she keeps coming back to him with her danger. So that means that she trusts him to protect her from it.
