A Castlevania movie was planned for release in the 2010s, but canceled because its title, “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate: The Movie: Part 1: The Trevor Belmont Legacy” was too easily abbreviated into “CLOGFLOBBLIT,” a cuss word in Esperanto.
LoS!Simon requested by @wingedknightrose. I wanted to try doing an outfit swap with Haunted Castle Simon, as they both have wives named Selena (who is roughly penciled in the background, I'll have to think on how her appearance would look in the LoS universe).
I've made a few posts speculating on Nocturne; some silly, some serious.
Out of all of them, I legitimately hope to see Alucard, if he shows up at all, have to fight the 'dark magic' version this trio. No idea how this would be set up with the plot or who would even have the power to summon specters this specific, but given these three are a boss in Symphony and tormenting Alucard is a norm for the writers, it seems almost within the realm of possibility.
Or just Richter's group vs the original cast would be interesting in itself and Alucard is mercifully left out of the fight.
Probably hoping for too much, but fingers crossed all the same.
...
Bonus Speculation that I think would be hilarious:
There is a bizarre sequence in Lords of Shadow where Gabriel Belmont is shrunk down to the size of a mouse in order to chase a tiny creature through the gears of a music box.
Seems a little closer to Disney humor (thinking Onward,) but I'll still laugh.
We gotta have some humor amid the soul-crushing moments, right?
Right?
...
Ultimately, though...
...really...
...really...
...really hoping Nocturne is good. Everybody hates it when a good thing is ruined by a bad sequel/spinoff.
May I ask your thoughts on Lords of Shadow Dracula?
Oh, I love him.
joipegr For as much shit as I give any sympathetic take on Dracula, this was one that I could stand. Mostly because of the circumstances. At least the creators divorced him so much from the original Castlevania Dracula that it feels earned. And, obviously, he's so far removed from Book Dracula that it's redundant to even point it out. They don't even call him Dracula, they call him Dracul.
So, Gabriel Belmont, right? He's in this thing called the Brotherhood of Light-- they're kind of morally grey despite the name. He's trying to defeat the Lords of Shadow so he'll be able to resurrect his dead wife who is stuck in limbo. Totally fair. See, some fantasy men lose their wives and they know how to be pragmatic about it. But it turns out that he actually can't resurrect his wife, whoops. So he takes up the name Dracul and ends up becoming the Prince of Darkness. The vibe is sort of that, no matter what, there need to be dark forces in the world they're living in, and Gabriel is the man for the job because he can keep the rest of them in check.
I think Protagonist Dracula works in Lords of Shadow because he's a Belmont in both name and function. We're rooting for him because he's gonna kill Satan, not God. In fact, he's God's silly little guy, God loves him and that's why prayer and stuff don't harm him.
It's similar, but of course not perfectly so, to Soma Cruz- the final reincarnation of Dracula in the original Castlevania timeline. In Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, he fights through an evil castle just like the Belmonts do all with the goal of preventing some cultists from turning him or some other dude into Dracula.
Compare all this to Netflixvania Dracula, who is played in too sympathetic of a light for any of his actions to feel in character. He's not evil enough, he's just a sad little man who wants to take the entire world out with him, and that's just pathetic. You watch him and his sulking and think "babe, if you want to die that bad, just do it". And then he does. He forces his son to kill him in the least climactic death ever. Boring. Why couldn't you have just died earlier, old man?
Just finished my first run of Three Houses (Golden Deer route), and your Sothis-is-the-daughter-of-Palutena-and-Gabriel-Belmont idea actually explains a hellva lot. Crests being gained by drinking Nabatean blood, Nabateans sleeping for years on end, Nemesis returning to life with creepy red eyes... it all fits pretty well if Sothis was a Dhampir. And I just KNOW Drac had to have been DEVISTATED by Sothis murder- she was the only child he actually got to raise and then he lost her too.
Sothis, floating in the air, cramming her face with cookies: I'm just glad you didn't go on a murder spree after I died.
Gabriel: You may thank your daughter Seiros for that. We found her and her survivors before I was given a chance to rampage and taking care of them was more important.
Sothis, handing him a cookie: But after that?
Gabriel, biting into the cookie: After that, vengeance was hers to take, not ours. And, I dare say, she did a damn fine job.
Sothis: HA! Attagirl. Not super hyped about the religion she built around me, but I get that she didn't have much of a choice if she wanted to hold Fodlan together.
Gabriel: Daughter... are you sure you are happy as a spirit? We could have you rembodied.
Sothis: Father, thank you, but I'm happy where I am. There's no use chasing after what was. I mean, hell, I can turn back the hands of time, but I can't remake things to how they were.
Gabriel: I see. It seems I got my wish.
Sothis: Eh?
Gabriel, taking her hands in his: That my daughter would be wiser than me.
Sothis, tearing up: Aw, come on. You're gonna make me bawl, dad.
