Love changes everything - Chapter 11
No matter how much Charles had begged Camilla to spend Christmas with him, though he knew it was impossible, she had spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with her parents before she’d travelled back to Bolehyde Manor on Boxing Day when her parents went to see Annabel and her little wholesome family. Camilla, of course, had been invited too, but she knew she wouldn’t be able to cope with the family bliss at Annabel’s house. She was happy for Annabel, of course, but it would be too much to take, especially with Andrew’s birthday coming up the next day. Christmas had been more of a torture anyway and she was glad to escape the baubels, the trees and the herold angeles everywhere. Her house wasn’t decorated for Christmas at all, a harsh contrast to the glitter and gold and the ethereal legions of angels that had been everywhere last year. Though she’d been heavily pregnant and barely able to move at all she’d decorated even the smallest corner of the house last year. Baby’s first Christmas was supposed to be perfect after all. But now the rain pouring heavily outside matched her mood far better. She had tried hard to put on a happy face for her parents and Mark, but it had worn her out. And she wasn’t sure how she was supposed to live through tomorrow. The thought of Andrew’s birthday almost made her sick. Just why was he not allowed to turn 36? Why did he have to play the hero again and be killed? What utterly sick game was the God above playing? It had not always been easy with Andrew, his affairs had silently killed her, but why, just why, did such a horrible thing happen? What had little Tom done to deserve this? What had she done to deserve this?
She was missing Charles, too, and a part of her had wished they’d be able to spend Christmas together. They’d spoken briefly on the phone on Christmas Eve and she regretted having declined his offer, or more his plea, to be able to see her on Boxing Day. Maybe he would still come like the last time she’d forbidden him to come on Tom’s birthday? But time passed and there was no Charles, so she just played with Tom and wrapped herself in a blanket in the living room once she had put him to bed.
The darkness outside came early and the raindrops on the window looked like ink-spiders. God, this really didn‘t feel like Christmas at all. Over and over she pondered if she should try to ring Charles but then again it was only half past four, though outside it looked like witching hour. Oh well maybe she just shouldn’t be so grand, she decided. With quick steps she walked to the hall where the telephone was standing and dialled the direct line to Charles' room which he had given to her in wise foresight. In nervous anticipation she dialled wrong two times before she was lucky and the call got through.
“Hello?“ asked a young voice that definitely wasn‘t Charles‘. Somehow the voice sounded familiar, but she couldn’t quite recall of whom it reminded her.
“Ummm… hello… I’d like to speak to Cha… umm, the Prince of Wales, please.“
“Sorry, Miss, you missed him. He left quite some time ago… to see his new girlfriend.“ The boy made a retching sound and suddenly it dawned on Camilla who it was.
“Edward?“ she asked, ignoring the clenching of her heart. Was she the new girlfriend? Or did Charles, indeed, have someone new? Deep down her Camilla knew that this wasn't how Charles would handle this, but the years with Andrew had traumatised her and of course she knew that Charles had to date other girls as well. He had to find a wife, someone worthy to bear an heir.
“On the phone, Miss,“ the eleven-year-old replied, clearly not remembering her voice.
“This is Camilla, we used to do two or three go-kart chases a few years ago.“ Camilla smiled, living from that memory. The memory seemed to be from someone else’s life, not her own. A life that was light and carefree and the only trouble in the world was which party she was going to go to the next day.
“Oh right!“ There was a sound of enlightenment in his voice. “I d-” there was a rustling and some voices in the line and suddenly Edward seemed to be eager to hang up the phone. „Merry Christmas, Camilla!“ he said and hung up before Camilla had the slightest chance to reply.
That had been a lovely surprise, but it hadn’t really helped her find out if she was going to see her prince today or not. Charles would surely have told her about a new girlfriend, so it was almost safe to say he’d be here anytime soon. It was a four hour drive from Sandringham to Bolehyde Manor and probably even longer today with that bloody rain. Why on earth did it not come down as snow? It surely was cold enough outside. With her heart feeling at least a little lighter she made herself a hot chocolate with two shots of rum. It would surely warm her up from the inside as well.
An hour later she heard a car rolling over the gritty grounds and her heart made a jump. This had to be Charles! With her plushy slippers on she made her way to the entrance hall and before Charles could ring the bell Camilla opened the door and it only took Charles a second to get to her and fling her in his arms. What a man he was! Camilla didn’t know quite how he did it, but he always knew exactly what to do (well… mostly…).
“Happy Christmas,” Charles whispered and placed a light kiss on Camilla’s nose.
“Happy Christmas, darling,” Camilla breathed back in return, wrapping her arms around him tightly. It felt so incredibly good to have him in her arms, but after a few moments she pulled away. “Come inside! You must be freezing!” With that she ushered him inside the living room. “Do you want to eat something? Or maybe drink? I’m sorry I didn’t bother to lighten the fireplace,” she bubbled, not quite knowing where it suddenly came from.
Charles chuckled, she was just so adorable. “Darling, relax,” he told her and flashed a smile at her that turned her knees into jelly. Despite the circumstances Camilla found herself to be head over heels in love with the prince again, a thing that still felt unreal. Being with him made her forget the uneasy feeling she’d had the past few days and she didn’t think about tomorrow, which she dreaded.
“Right!” Camilla exhaled loudly, then laughed and flopped down on the sofa, pushing Charles down with her. “Thank you for coming,” she placed a soft kiss in the middle of his perfect mouth and cuddled against him.
Charles smiled, happy that his appearance apparently made her very happy. “You didn’t seem surprised, though,” he mused and looked at her with a quizzical expression.
“I simply knew you wouldn’t listen to me.” Camilla gave him a soft poke in the ribs. “And Edward told me about your new girlfriend…” With lightheartedness she told him about her call at Sandringham House and how she’d hoped he’d come. It was wonderful to chatter and cuddle and kiss and make up for the missed days. After a while they exchanged Christmas presents - they hadn’t really talked about it, but both of them had something for the other. Camilla received a lovely light blue silk scarf and a pair of whopping diamond earrings that she’d probably never be able to wear, though they were immensely beautiful and she loved them so very much. She’d gotten Charles a new record and a Barbour jacket, so that he’d finally get rid of his old one. The last time he’d worn it he’d been soaking wet because it had so many patches. Her presents felt a bit lousy compared to Charles’, but she knew he loved them and that was the main thing. This Christmas was very far from perfect, but with Charles in her arms and the laughter they shared, this Boxing Day finally felt like Christmas, no matter what tomorrow would bring.

Well, first of all I would like to thank you for always answering our questions. I thought of something these days and it makes a little sense. I believe that satura loves geto but I think he fell in love with the teenage geto and not with the adult geto because he didn't live with and doesn't know the adult geto because they were away for 10 years. and the adult suguru and the teenage suguru are totally different people. Can you tell me what you think and if this makes sense? sorry for the text.
Hey anon, don’t thank me yet I have like 5 questions resting in my ask that I feel so lazy to answer 😭😭😭😭 I will get to them eventually but ty for these questions 🫶
Also to answer your question, you are not entirely wrong I would say he is stuck in the past for sure BUT he would love Suguru in any situation. Especially when ch 236 dropped and Gojo answered “If you were there to pat my back I would’ve been satisfied” imagining Geto among his students in his cult leader outfit, I just knew he had never stop loving Geto. Teen Geto was his first love for sure yeah but I think he reminisces more about his three years of youth than teen Geto.
To gojo, teen geto, adult geto, any geto would be Suguru. In jjk0 when he tells Yuuta that Geto was “his one and only” he uses present tense, that personally resonates to me as even in those 10 years they were separated and even though teen Geto and adult Geto might not even be the same person anymore, his love never deteriorated for Suguru.
Also to me, Gojo and Geto are soulmates and even if the person you love changes, I think their soul would still be the same one you fell in love with.

Dirty Three — Love Changes Everything (Drag City)
Tumblr media
If the title of this new Dirty Three album immediately conjures memories of the 1987 soft-pop single by Climie Fisher, fret ye not — Warren Ellis, Mick Turner and Jim White are sounding as raw and elemental as ever. It may be over a decade since their last album, 2012’s Toward the Low Sun, but each member of the band has been plenty busy in the interim. Ellis has been playing with the Bad Seeds and working on soundtracks with Nick Cave. Mick Turner has started a fantastic new band called Mess Esque. And Jim White has been playing with Marisa Anderson, Beings, Jess Ribeiro and Xylouris White. However, as soon as these three men come together, they bring their collective experience and intuitive interplay to bear.
“I” is a summoning, an explosive reunion, in which the three players jab and jostle loosely, testing the boundaries of their long-standing relationship. Turner’s guitar simmers with distortion and feedback, White threatens to play like a conventional rock drummer, and Ellis saws his way into the picture with his trademark searing, yearning tone. Then, in a sudden left-turn, “II” feels like some grave news has been unexpectedly delivered, its plaintive piano chords like eyebrows raised in concern. “III” carries the album to its midway point with an anxious, keening whine of violin and the insistent tick of hi-hats, while the piano tries to bring some sense of resolve. The guitar and violin tentatively circle each other, proposing and re-proposing a middle ground, only for the piece to gradually disassemble into silence.
“IV” is built around Turner’s eerie waltz-time guitar and Ellis’s ghostly violin scrapes, White offering up gentle washes of cymbal. It rarely raises above a whisper, but amounts to one of the most affecting stretches of music on the album. “V” opens in a similar vein to “III,” with White’s insistent hi-hat, then Ellis picks up the thread with a pizzicato figure and Turner lazily strums a couple of open-ended chords. Ellis kicks in his distortion pedal, White ups the density of his playing, and all three players are soon matching each other’s fire, only for the piece to ebb away in its closing moments.
Thankfully, “VI,” the 10-minute closer, provides a satisfying though slow-burning pay-off. It emerges from a snaking whorl of violin loops, the guitar and piano each staking a claim towards establishing a defining theme. At various points during the second half, the music threatens to take off into a more fiery, chaotic realm, only to recede into questioning placidity. Much like the rest of the music on this album, it goes nowhere and everywhere all at once, creating and re-creating a space that feels intimidatingly boundless.

The Power of Love: A Force That Transcends All Boundaries
Shaina Tranquilino
September 19, 2023
Tumblr media
Love, the universal language that has captivated poets, inspired artists, and bewildered scientists for centuries. It is an enigmatic force that permeates every aspect of our lives, dictating our emotions, actions, and relationships. Love is a feeling so profound and multifaceted that it defies simple definition. In this blog post, we delve into the depths of love to unravel its mysteries and understand the incredible power it holds.
Love as a Driving Force:
Throughout history and across cultures, love has been regarded as one of the most powerful driving forces behind human behavior. From romantic love to familial bonds and friendships, it shapes our desires, ambitions, and choices. Love motivates us to go above and beyond for those we care about, often pushing us out of our comfort zones or challenging societal norms.
The Transformative Effects of Love:
Love has an extraordinary ability to transform both individuals and communities. When reciprocated genuinely, it can heal emotional wounds, mend broken hearts, and nurture personal growth. The presence of love in our lives gives us a sense of belonging and purpose – a comforting reminder that we are not alone on this journey.
Moreover, love extends beyond individual connections; it has the power to foster compassion and unity within societies. Acts of kindness driven by love have sparked social change throughout history. Whether it be advocating for equal rights or fighting against injustice, love provides the fuel necessary to challenge oppressive systems and create a more inclusive world.
The Complexity of Love:
Despite its immense beauty, love can also be complex and perplexing. It can bring joy but also heartache; build bridges but also create divides. We may find ourselves torn between conflicting emotions or grappling with the unpredictability of affection's ebb and flow.
However, it is precisely these complexities that make love all the more profound. The highs and lows of love teach us valuable lessons about vulnerability, resilience, and the depths of human emotions. It is through these experiences that we learn to appreciate the true value of love in all its forms.
Nurturing Love:
As with any powerful force, love requires nurturing and cultivation to flourish. It demands open communication, genuine compassion, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability. Through small acts of kindness, empathy, and understanding, we can create an environment where love can thrive.
Love has been celebrated and explored by humans throughout history because it holds an undeniable power that transcends time and place. Whether it be romantic or platonic, familial or communal, love enriches our lives in countless ways. By recognizing its transformative potential and actively nurturing it within ourselves and our relationships, we can harness the extraordinary power of love to create a more compassionate, harmonious world – one filled with unconditional acceptance and understanding for all.

Let's give space to hatred so that this feeling can pack its bags and leave; let's give it space, otherwise, it will never leave our lives.
Love doesn't need permission to enter; it just needs the space to do so.

One of my recent theses is that Aspects of Love is a concept musical masquerading as a book show, which is why it is so misunderstood. I thought I would outline this thesis here.
First, it starts with Love Changes Everything. Its 2023 revival moves the song to the middle of Act 1 in order to have it sung by Michael Ball, which is a key error (Ball plays George in the revival, rather than Alex, who he originated in 1989). The song is here:
It’s quite literally a thesis on love, extraneous to the book - Alex’s naive thesis on love. What’s interesting is that it is only the first thesis on love we get. When we first meet George, Alex’s uncle, who lives hedonistically and flits between lovers just as Alex believes that Rose is his one true love, he sings this:
Life goes on, love goes free is George’s philosophy. Both of these moments are much more typical of a concept show than a book show, and seem indicative of Lloyd Webber (as book writer, though not lyricist) being inspired by the Prince era in the States, and in particular I would argue A Little Night Music, where songs like The Miller’s Son highlight philosophies of love to be analysed within the context of the show. What is interesting about Aspects is that neither Alex’s nor George’s philosophy remains unscathed. By the end of Act 1, George is married to Rose, and Alex reprises Love Changes Everything on the way to the army, to destroy himself in his loss of Rose. By the end of the second act, it is George who will have died, destroying himself over his possessive incestuous love of his daughter Jenny with Rose, and Alex who rejects both Rose and Jenny in order to flit like George did with his old lover, Giulietta. The final reprise of Love Changes Everything is crucial (and foolishly omitted from the 2023 revival!) as heard below:
Heard at 4:40 on the above track, we hear the final line twice: love will never never let you be the same. When Alex originally sang this, it was a naive take on the power of one true love. With all we know now, the song has totally changed its meaning - love has the power to bouleverse everything in your philosophy and turn you inside out, Alex into a hedonistic cynic and George a man who dies for love. The ability of the one song and lyric to develop like that over time is much cleverer than it is given credit for and one of the reasons I think it works much better in context.
Although Aspects has a quintet of lovers, the final one who experiences that true bouleversal is Rose. Rose does not outline a thesis in the same way, but she scorns Alex early in the show, telling him that if he can do one thing it is “just leave me”. Later, close to the end of Act 1, she begins to show her inability to be vulnerable when she tells George that he must promise to answer whatever she asks him with yes, and ends up marrying him. Both of these lyrical and musical motifs are repeated in the culmination of Anything But Lonely, where (from 2:44) we hear:
Rose: Just promise one thing.
Alex: Alright, what is it?
Rose: Don’t ask me questions; you must promise this.
Alex: I can’t; I must know what it is.
Rose: Don’t leave me!
Whilst Rose doesn’t have the same thesis outlined, she is proof of the same fact that love changes everything. And whilst I have criticised song placement in the 2023 production, and would also argue that it tries to sideline the more uncomfortable aspects of the show (incest and age gaps) that are actually vital to its plot, it is still up there with Oklahoma! as one of the most interesting shows currently playing in the West End and definitely requires a visit before it closes next month. Aspects of Love as a title lays out exactly what this show is - a conceptual analysis - and the show has been much maligned, I think, by being misunderstood as a traditional book musical.

Never really saw the whole picture. Omg.
Ineffable fools rush in...
still not over the fact that Crowley WALKED ACROSS CONSECRATED GROUND, then stood next to a BASIN FULL OF THE THING THAT DESTROYS HIM, in a church he'd just DIVERTED BOMBS TO, so he could stand IN THE EXPLOSION with Aziraphale and trust Aziraphale's miracle to SPARE THEM EXPLODING TOGETHER, and he trusted it well enough to use his own energy to RESCUE AZIRAPHALE'S BOOKS, which he knew AZIRAPHALE WOULD FORGET TO DO, and he did all that while he was ON THE WAY TO ANOTHER JOB, which he fucked up because he remembered to protect the books but FORGOT TO PROTECT HIS OWN STUFF, and then he spent the rest of the night HELPING AZIRAPHALE LIVE OUT HIS HOMOEROTIC MAGICIAN THEATRICAL DREAMS like he hadn't just BURNED HIS FEET TO SHIT like dear lord Crowley the power of love is a heckuva drug, isn't it?

i feel like, while gabriel gives adrien orders in an obvious way, just clearly telling him what to do, emilie would give him instructions through compliments-- you're a good son, you're such an obedient boy-- and reassurances-- you're going to love this, you won't mess up your photoshoot-- and it seems harmless, she's being nice, but if you watch she always touches her ring when she says something like this. and she's never wrong about adrien.
