Epithets of Hyrule
The Golden Goddesses
Epithets are “an adjective or phrase expressing a quality or attribute regarded as characteristic of the person or thing mentioned.”
(Thank you Oxford Languages for the definition!)
Epithets are used in multiple religions, including christianity, hellenic paganism, norse paganism, kemetic paganism, and even in celtic paganism. People have used Epithets to denote the specific aspect of a deity they want to invoke.
However, I have not seen many people discus the epithets that could appear in pop culture paganism, and in this case specifically, Hyrulean Paganism.
So here are my current ideas for epithets of the Goddesses.
(Note, epithets that are most closely related to a specific race/species is denoted by a color or symbol. Goron, Gerudo, Rito, Zora, Hylian, Sheikah)
Din
Lady of the Red Earth, Earthbreaker, Earthmaker, Foundation of the World, Lady of Power, The Gerudo Mother, The Desert Mother, Din of the Forge, Kingmaker, King Mother, The Sandstorm, Of the Wastes, Of the Burning Hearth, Torch in the Night, Sister of Courage, Sister of Wisdom, Brother, Fire of Gorondia, She who is cradled in Death’s Maw, The Desert Wind, of the Fury, Autumn Harvester
Din, for me, is associated with Fire and Earth, Gerudo and Goron, and thus some epithets are more species specific.
Din of the Forge is also common with smiths of all species.
Nayru
Lady of Wisdom, Lady of Justice, Mother of Law, The Arbiter, of the Sea, of the Rain, She Who Watches, of the Deep, of the Storm, of the Fury, of the Cascading Falls, of the Hidden Waters, Queen Maker, of the Burning Cold, Knowledge Keeper, All-Knowing, the Teacher, the Shield, of the Gentle Snow, Owl-eyed, Sister of Power, Sister of Courage, Winter Keeper
Nayru is associated with water, ice, justice and knowledge. She is most closely associated with the Zora, and Hylians, but some other races have epithets for her as well.
Farore
Lady of Courage, Lady of Life and Death, Sword Keeper, Hero Guide, Mother of Life, Mother of Monsters, Secret Keeper, Lightning Rider, of the Storm, of the Fury, the Whispering Wind, of the Roaring Wind, the Verdant, Dragon Chaser, the the Joyous One, the Dancing Wind, Spring Bringer, the Huntress, Protector of Children, Will O’ Wisp, of the Cutting Wind, of Lost Things, of the Lost*, Path Walker, of the Wind, Sister of Power, Sister of Wisdom
*while this is the only epithet the Goron use, it is not Goron Specific.
Farore is my matron. I tried to keep things equal, but I will naturally favor her. I do actually ise quite a few of these epithets when I write prayers or blessings, and occasionally I will feel the urge to write a blessing invoking one.
Hylia
Guardian of the Triforce, Light bearer, of True Aim, the Winged One, Queen-mother, Queen-makerMother of Hylians, Bane of Demise, the Great Vanquisher, She who Carries Summer, of the Burning Light, the Arbiter, She Who Watches Over Time, Hero Maker, the Song Writer, the Hearth Light, Torch Against the Night, Scourge of the Undead, She Who Favors Wisdom, the Sacred Dragon, the Gentle Healer, She Who Seals the Darkness
Hylia is the last one I created epithets for at this time. She is dear to Hylians, and thus has many Hylian epithets.
I will eventually write all of this in zonai, ancient hylian, and common hylian (or I will at least try) and thus ends this post!
Merry met, and blessedly go!

Zelda's Ward
Tumblr media
I created this spell as an inspiration from Zelda's magic. From playing Age of Calamity, you get to see her powers at work. This may be a bit of a spoiler for you if you have not played. So if you have not played the game and would rather wait this is your warning now to click off and find something else to do.
Once you unlock her powers after her will to protect Link you can switch to her luminescent mode where she glows, levitating off the ground in a heavenly light.
The way she outstretches her hand, banishing any sort of malice around her in glowing golden halos. It helped me implement ways in my practice to literally banish negativity and ward my space with my own energy.
This is more of a higher energy-costing exercise. More of a temporary ward that gets the job done when needed. So layering is best in this case so you can bring this down when your other ward is crafted. Also is an excellent energy cleansing method to get out any negative energetic gunk from your space.
Let's get started.
Sitting down get into a trance-like state to build energy. My favourite method is using any sort of music that really makes my body sway, that build-up of energy in my body extends to my magic. Really you can use any sort of method.
Envisioning a light can be any light that you feel is that core energy from your being. If you cannot visualize try focusing on feeling instead.
Outstretch your arms, and feel the tingle of your energy under your skin. Really try to use your senses to connect to your core and that energy thrumming and buzzing.
Once you feel confident that you have gotten it. Try to connect with the spirit of Zelda herself. The one who just wants to protect everyone around her. Her people, kingdom and Link. Think about how you'd like to protect your home, the people in it, your pets, and yourself. Now what do you want to banish? Negativity? Negative energy? An entity?
Try to envision or feel a bubble of energy in whatever colour you feel is right extending from yourself. Start small. Start with just around yourself and extend it a bit past yourself. Once you feel like you have it. Push it out in one blinding bright bubble across your home and past your property, solidifying right at your property's markers. Holding strong in a dome of impenetrable light. One that burned up and purified any sort of negativity. Banishing it in one go. Pushing it right out of your space.
Remember this is more of a temporary method. It can suck up a lot of energy. Remember to drink water afterwards and eat something small.
Happy witching!

Lady Din: Goddess of Power,
Embrace me in your strong, flaming arms.
Burn away the old and cultivate the new within me,
Just as you cultivated the land of Hyrule.
Tumblr media
Lady Nayru: Goddess of Wisdom,
Pour your wisdom into me.
Remove the disorder from my inner being
And foster the Spirit of Law in my heart.
Tumblr media
Lady Farore: Goddess of Courage,
Fill me with your sacred Life.
Teach me to honor all living things
And to serve others even in the face of adversity.
Tumblr media
Lady Hylia: Goddess of Time, Protector of the Triforce, and Sealer of the Bringer of Demise,
Smile upon me so I may feel your warmth and love.
Banish the darkness from my soul
And fill me with the golden light of the Triforce that I may embody the virtues it exemplifies.
Tumblr media
Goddesses wash away all defilement in my soul.
Make my inner world pure as snow
So I can live a life filled with your presence and divinity.
So May it Be.

The Golden Goddesses and the Triforce
Symbols are very important in any spiritual practice, and probably the most important one in a system inspired by The Legend of Zelda is the Triforce.
Hyrule Historia establishes the Triforce as another creation of the Golden Goddesses:
“Upon leaving the world, the goddesses left behind the Triforce: three golden triangles. It is said that any wish the possessor of the Triforce desires will come true” (pg. 70).
The Legend of Zelda Encylcopedia further explains that “the three triangles of the Triforce [...] represent wisdom, courage, and power,” thus creating a direct link between its power and the powers of the goddesses themselves.
Tumblr media
Additionally, “the Triforce is the ultimate force behind all things. It is capable of granting the wish of those who lay hands on it, but only the first person to touch it will have their wish granted [...]
The Triforce does not discriminate between good and evil desires, but a balance of power, wisdom, and courage is required to unlock its full force, and one must demonstrate these qualities through sacred trials” (p. 13).
So a couple things to unpack here. The first is that the Triforce, to me, represents the qualities I want to be mindful of as I go through daily life. You cannot utilize your power well if you do not temper it with wisdom, and you cannot act on that wisdom if you don’t have the courage. The balance is the whole point. The trials of everyday life are what allow us to hone these qualities.
The second thing is that the Triforce is wish fulfillment made material. This makes it a wonderful symbol to utilize in prayer, witchcraft, or other manifestation work you incorporate into your practice. Because the Triforce itself does not judge between good or ill deeds, its use would of course be guided by your own moral code.
The Triforce is without doubt the most powerful and meaningful in the whole series, so making it THE central pillar of my practice just makes sense.

Epithets of Hyrule
Regional Spirits/Dieties
Soooooo.... As I posted prior, I'm a moderator for a relatively new discord server called the Community of Hyrulean Faiths, which is a wonderful experience so far! However, as a quick disclaimer, most of my experience with LoZ is BOTW/TOTK, with a smattering of a few other games mostly lived vicarious through fanfiction. I make no promises that I will cover all the deities and spirits of Hyrule, both for personal reasons(I just objectively refuse to honor Demise/the Calamity with epithets), and also just from lack of knowledge(sorry Lord Jabu-Jabu).
I can say this one will include the Great Deku Tree, Lord Satori, Farosh, Naydra, Dinraal, and probably Fierce Deity. I may include a bit on Ancestors/Repetitive Spirits(like the Blood of the Goddess, The Hero's Spirit, and the Corrupted Champion, among others), but I make no guarantees. If YOU have an epithet that you think of/use, please share! I would love to expand my lists, and share to others!
@ringaroundtheroses Thank you for the lovely reblog, it was so nice I had to write more!
The Great Deku Tree
Lord of the Forest, The Korok Guardian, Grandfather, Eternal Cycle, He Who Was Planted By The Hero, He with 1000 Memories, Watcher of the Sword, The Verdant Sage, He Whose Roots Run Deep
Lord Satori
Lord of the Mountain, Keeper of Abundance, Blupee Father, Grandfather, Unknowable One, Mystical Guide, He Who Was Lost, Keeper of Hidden Things
Fierce Deity
The Hero's Ascension*, Guardian of Termina, He Who Broke The Moon, Catcher of the Falling Moon, Timebreaker, He Who Is the Mask of Ancient Power, The Trapped Guardian, The Fury, Furious Warrior, He Who Is Ready for War, The War Herald,
NOTE THAT THERE ARE POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR TOTK BELOW
Dinraal
Guardian of Power's Spring, Lost Sage, Devoted of Din, Burning Fury, Burning Peace, Eldin's Dragon
Naydra
Guardian of Wisdom's Spring, Lost Sage, Devoted of Nayru, Freezing Fury, Frozen Peace, Guardian of Age, Lanayru's Dragon
Farosh
Guardian of Courage's Spring, Lost Sage, Devoted of Farore, Chraged Fury, Storming Peace, Faron's Dragon
Worship of the Heroes
Heroes are where things can get a little complicated. Most people know the story of the Hero, the Blood of the Goddess and the demon king. Most regions have specific epithets that correspond to each of the three(baring the Corrupted Champion, who is usually refered to as Demise, of the Lord of Hatred. SO the worship of these spirits always looks different, and its very easy to adjust your worship to match your life.
Anyway, I am now exhausted. Have a wonderful day! I will try to add some more tomorrow! Enjoy!
Merrily Met and Blessedly Go,
Ori

I realized I don't have any hyrule specific spreads, so I'm working on putting some together. pardon my great graphic design I'm using ms paint and a touchpad
A good spread for when Calamaties hit! This spread is intended to be a good pep talk while giving you a nudge in the right direction. Use it to get messages from the Goddesses or with any spirit!

First of all I love your art (especially Ganon) Second, I wrote with a friend about this and I thought it was a great idea. Imagine if in the new Botw you could play with multiple people. You could choose between Zelda, Link and Ganondorf as characters. If you play alone, your choice determines how hard the game will be, f. E. When you play with Link or Zelda people will be more inclined to help you than when you play with Ganondorf. (1/?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ohhh this sounds like Mass Effect meets Legend of Zelda! This is a really cool concept and would be an awesome title geared more towards the older generation of LoZ fans! Sadly i don’t think Nintendo would be in for such a mature themed game, but one can hope that BoW2 will incorporate something along these lines, esp being to play all three of the triforce holders. And ganon being hot and possibly being a good guy ;w;

Ocarina Song Correspondences
Tumblr media
As I further develop my own Hylian Faith that I practice in a way that emulates Link, I find the ocarina to also be an important spiritual tool as the Ocarina of Time was an important tool in the Hero of Time’s arsenal, as well as the key to open the door to the sacred realm. Of course other instruments may also be used, considering how important a lyre harp has been in the series as well.
Most of my practice is energy cultivation, meditation, and prayer, but I’m also slowly working on my own magical system utilizing various tools for spells, such as talismans and music magic. Due to this, I have devised a basic correspondence list for many songs from The Legend of Zelda. Please bear in mind: I am super new to this so my correspondences will be fairly limited. Also please remmber that your path is your own and you may make your own correspondences. Intention and sincerity are the most important elements. Some of these correspondences are related to specific deities, sages, races, and even characters since people will have very individual practices and I want to hopefully provide inspiration for one’s own faith.
