For those of us in the US, the current election results are incredibly stressful. For those of us who are pagans, especially of the pop-culture variety, these results are likely disappointing, disgusting, and terrifying.
Many of us are neurodivergent, queer, or both. We are other. We are likely in danger. Grieve, be angry, whatever you need. Reach out for help if you need support. All of you are loved. Every single one. Once you have felt your feelings, try to turn back to hope and fighting like hell to keep yourselves safe and change this mess we’re in.
The goddesses are with you, loving you, holding you close. Trust them to heal your heart and grant you stability in these trying times.

Adding Spiritual Elements to TOTK/BOTW Gameplay
Sadly, despite being a pretty religion focused game there is not a lot of options to actually show devotion. Here are a few ways I bond with the Hyrulean spirits while playing!
*Always crouch before praying at the altar. I generally crouch, pray, leave offerings in that order so I don't accidentally pick up offerings. It's a small show of respect!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Various offerings at Hylia statues|Silent Princess' on Zelda's pedestal
*Leave offerings at goddess statues. Once you max out your hearts and stamina the statues don't get as much attention. Other great offering locations: Satori Mountain, The Leviathan Skeletons/Dark Skeletons, Temple of Time ground +Sky
*Cleanse yourself in springs, pools found in shrines, also great fairy pools. The Sacred Springs are a top choice but I also go to the depths at the Secret Spring of Revival. This can be a little bit more eloquently done in totk than botw, but jumping in none the less is good enough.
*Clothing is important! Hyrule is known for incredible fashion and lots of symbolism in their clothing. be intentional with the ingredients you use to dye your outfits. I dye my white outfits for the depths with silent princess to purify the clothes and to protect me in the depths (not an actual buff). I dye my sheikah outfit purple with muddlebuds to magically imbue their confusing properties with my sneaky outfit. etc I like to match the vibes of where I'm going with my outfits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Red hair for Dinraal, Purple for Sheikah/Hylia, White for Nadyra/Satori combo
*Disarm in public spaces. It makes it a bit more authentic feeling when you aren't sitting in the middle of town strapped to the teeth. I usually only keep my bow equipped.
*Have some areas be no hunting zones such as forests around the Temples of Time or other sacred areas. Or do the opposite and pick specific sites for animal or monster sacrifice
*Spend time with the dragons. In botw you can leave offerings at their spawn sites, make pilgrimages to see them come up and go down. in totk you can ride on them and use that as bonding time. It's a good time to meditate and listen to the music. When I am farming for dragon parts or need a dragon to appear, I usually go to their spring and leave an offering.
Tumblr media
Me needing Naydra fangs for armor
*Feed the animals! horses, sheep, goats, dogs, even stalhorse will eat apples or meat if you hold or drop the food. Dondons as well can be fed luminous stones, which are known to have connection to spirits.
*Use Shrine cutscenes as moment to recenter and meditate for a moment (aka don't skip the cutscene). I usually skip the cutscenes but sometimes I use the moments to realign myself especially if the shrine was really frustrating.
*Make your house into a shrine! With the gallery options you are able to post pictures on the wall. Usually I have pictures of the dragons or goddess statues, Sonia's grave, or geoglyphs. And you can change it anytime!

My Thoughts: The Elements of Hyrule. I think there are Nine!
Possible long post, so it’s under the cut! ♥️
Ok, so the only post I’ve been able to find was by an archived blog called the book of hylia (I think that’s what it’s called at least) and I have learned a lot of awesome stuff from this blog. It would seem that this blog was super active around 5 years ago and was archived in February 2019. And! They mention the Elements of Hyrule being different than the earthly elements of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air (Spirit as well if you’re a witch). And I love this concept and am currently compiling correspondences based on intuition and association in my own Grimoire. It’s not done yet, but I might post them at a later time if I feel like it.
Anyway, this super awesome blog talks about the Eight Elements: those being Light, Forest, Fire, Water, Shadow, Spirit, Wind, and Earth. These are obviously taken from Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker and their respective Sages. But! This blog was archived before Tears of the Kingdom was released. Which is why I hold the belief that a ninth element should be added to the list: Time!
Legend of Zelda emphasizes the concept of Time so strongly: with their temples, concepts, and stories. There’s time travel in multiple titles. Also, this is just a personal thing, but in Ocarina of Time, Sheik/Zelda is said to be the Seventh Sage, but she is not clearly associated with an element as far as I remember (it’s been a while since I’ve completed that game) so I have always personally associated her as the Sage of Time.
And, with the release of Tears of the Kingdom, this further confirms what I’ve thought before Breath of the Wild even came out: there’s another element and that element is Time! Zelda is even called the Sage of Time by Rauru and the First Sages in this installment!
So…I think the concept and the Element of Time deserves its place in the row of Elements of Hyrule. Also, think about it: nine is a multiple of three, which also has a lot of significance in the series (the Triforce duh), so I think having Nine Elements would be significant.
Disclaimer: this is just my personal thoughts. You don’t gotta accept this into your practice just because a rando (me) on the internet said so. But! If you like the idea, feel free to incorporate it into your practice!
Thanks for reading! I really appreciate it! Bright Blessings!

Jar of Malice
Tumblr media
Preferably created on a Tuesday or Saturday, but a Mars or Saturn symbol on the jar will work just fine.
Ingredients:
Glue
Red and black paint
Thorns/Rusty nails/broken glass
Rotted/dead plants
Dead bugs
Hot sauce
Chili powder
A taglock of your target (name, hair, etc.)
(Optional) Clear quartz; does NOT go in the jar IF you plan on giving the target a chance to redeem themselves.
The clear quartz requires a bit of prep. Over the course of a few day charge it with all the anger you have for your target. Take it with you to work/school and every inconvenient thought, every annoyance, charge that quartz.
It acts as a piece of Ganondorf’s secret stone. To get the leaking hatred that is actual malice in the matter of a few days is impossible, but with the secret stone, it will at least be amplified enough to make your target feel it.
As you toss these ingredients together, feel free to monologue. Let them know that, try as they might, escape is futile and the malice will slowly drag them to the depths. If you plan on forgiving later, give them an ultimatum. Shake the jar violently afterwards.
Make sure to shake it every once and awhile, especially when you’re in a bad mood.
To make sure the glue doesn’t dry, sit the jar in hot (not boiling) water.

Golden Goddess Associations: Hylia
Tumblr media
Note: these are my personal correspondences based on my experiences and the games in the series I draw from. Some of these will almost definitely be different for you depending on your practice and the games you draw from!
Also yes I know Hylia isn't one of the golden goddesses but I didn't think the title through and now I'm four parts into this lol
Domains: the sky, wind, domestic pets, celestial bodies, weather, music and speech, literature and writing, concealment, secrets, travel, puzzles, harmony, fate, weapons, crystals, humanity, knowledge and intelligence (yes, this is different than wisdom- to steal a quote, intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad)
Epithets:
She of red feathered wings
Heiress of the golden ones' gifts
Sky-speaker
Lady of sweet words, of sweet breezes
The one who hides secrets
Patron of writers
Elements: Air, light, wind
Peoples I feel are most connected to her: Hylians, Kikwi, Parella, Mogma, Sheikah
Sages and other important figures: Fi, Zelda, Impa, Link, the dragons of Skyward Sword, the light spirits of Twilight Princess.
Season: Autumn
Time of day: Sunrise and sunset
Colors: white, crimson red, sky blue, orange, sunshine yellow, gold, silver
Tarot suit: Swords
Tarot cards: The Sun, Queen of Swords, Ace of Swords
Animals: cardinals, butterflies (especially blue), domesticated parrots, spoonbills and pelicans, bugs at large
Crystals, stones, etc.: red jasper, red quartz, rose quartz, golden quartz, howlite, moonstone, aventurine, opalite, sodalite, soapstone, bugs and feathers in amber, carved stone birds/butterflies, etc.
Plants (please don’t use these for burnt offerings or consume them without tons of research first! Some of these may be toxic. Also don’t take anything without talking to a medical professional about things like medication interactions if necessary!): sunflower, lily, thistle
Fruits: oranges, pineapple, cherry, citrus, pumpkins, kiwi
Food: pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, cherry bread, cotton candy, sweets at large
Drinks (*denotes alcohol): Apple cider, orange juice, fruit juices at large, red cream soda, fruit flavored vodkas*
Scents and incense: rain, dragon's blood, lemon, cherry, lily, sandalwood
Breath of the Wild in-game offerings: Silent Princess, White or Red Chuchu Jelly, Diamonds, Courser Bee Honey, Hyrule Herb, Hylian Shroom, fairies, or any bug species with an equivalent found in Skyward Sword: butterflies (especially Winterwing), beetles, darners, Sunset Fireflies, and Restless Crickets.

Since I am having a lot of self-confidence problems, I am wondering about knotting a bracelet and enchant it to help. I am thinking about having it relate to the Zelda universe, and my first thought was maybe to have it relate to Revali ? because he has a lot of self confidence. but ? I am not sure about it ? I feel like maybe he might not be the best, since he does go into the "cocky" territory and I don't think that should be my objective. Any opinion, idea on who I could call upon for help on this / create a bracelet after, stuff like that ?

Ahhh this practice would pair really well with my Embodying the Triforce practice! Getting a more concrete feel on the specific energies is a great idea!
Raising Triforce Energy
So the Triforce is of course a strong magical energy, and it’s three parts feel a bit different when separated than they do when in harmony.
The Triforce of Power feels like being close to a crackling fire, warm and flickering, with a slight sting, like when you get too close to the flame.
The Triforce of Wisdom feels like water, cool and fluid, with a slight bite, like winter cold.
The Triforce of Courage feels like damp earth, soft and thick. With a crackle like electricity.
Just for reference these are how the energies feel to me, and below is my method for drawing the energy.
Sit comfortably in a dimly lit room. I don’t feel like the lighting matters over much but it helps me concentrate when it’s not bright.
Cup your hands or form a triangle shape with them. Focus on which part of the Triforce you’re trying to use.
Try and visualize the golden light of the Triforce pooling in your hands. Let the energy build a bit, enough to get a feel for it.
Try and get a feel for the energy of the piece you’re working with. Does it feel awkward? Does it flow freely to you? One usually vibes better than the others.
If the triforce piece you’re working with feels unwieldy it may indicate that’s the one you need more work in.
The piece that feels easy to work with is probably the one you would get if the Triforce split and will likely be the easiest to use for magic.
Practice drawing the different energies and learning how they feel before you start manipulating them and using it for spells and such.

Zonai Spiral Breathing
Tumblr media
This is a breathing technique I am developing that is heavily inspired by the Japanese breathing technique called Ibuki Nagayo.
We have all seen these spirals of energy if we have played Tears of the Kingdom or have seen footage of the game. At the start of the same, we see one of these spirals coming from the remnants of Rauru's arm holding onto Ganondorf's chest. We also see these spirals emanating from every Zonai shrine. This is because Rauru was absorbing the gloom from Ganondorf and transmuting it into purified Zonai energy which seems to be related to light and life. Shrines on the surface do correspond with Light Roots in the depths, after all.
There are two forms to this technique. The simplest to perform and the one that should be focused on most often is inhaling Force energy from the sacred realm and the Earth around you, absorbing it, and then circulating it within your body to improve your vitality.
Begin by getting into a comfortable position. You can sit, stand, or lie down. Whatever is best for your body. Sitting upright or standing are preferred, but any comfortable position will work. Gently settle your mind with a few slow breaths as you allow your thoughts to naturally come and go. Do not concern yourself with thoughts of having to feel perfectly settled to continue. Perfection is a goal to aim for, but insisting on it will massively hinder your progress. At this point inhale deeply, imagining Zonai light energy spiraling into your body and filling it to the brim. Hold the breath for a few seconds to allow it to settle and absorb. Exhale slowly, allowing the energy to spiral in the opposite direction with your breath as you circulate the energy. Try to do this for at least ten minutes, but any duration you can manage will be helpful!
There is a second form I'm working on, but I must be sure it isn't potentially harmful before I make it public. Either way I hope that this technique will be a good addition to our practices!

Hyrule(an Magic) Historia: An Effort for Archival
Greetings. It's my first time posting on this blog, so it's nice to meet you all.
The purpose of this post is to detail my behind-the-scenes effort to archive as many of the lost Hyrulean Paganism/Magic blogs and posts as possible. For those unaware, in the mid-2010s, there was a "renaissance" of The Legend of Zelda Pop Culture Pagan posts and blogs. The pantheon/practice went by many names, such as Mudoran Magic, Hyrulean/Hylian Magic, Hyrulean Paganism, etc. As a result, efforts to find remaining content can be complicated, especially when perusing tags. Different phrases were used for various blogs and posts, sometimes leading to dead ends.
Thankfully, there are some leads. @lostwoodstarryskies made a list of blogs, both old and new, here. This is a good start and helps navigate search engines such as Google more efficiently. Additionally, this post by the now-defunct @/hylianshrinemaiden (more on her later) lists additional blogs.
Now, to Twili (hylianshrinemaiden). While we (the Magic Collective) weren't in the same Pop Culture Pagan circles at the same time, it's clear she was a pillar in the community. It's a shame that she and other active members deleted their blogs, as Tumblr's archival system is half-functional at best. There is some hope of recovering her blog, however. @hyrulian-legends reblogged this post from her, listing various spells and resources from her. While it's not entirely clear if this list is her complete work, it at least gives names to her work. Through this list, I've had some luck on Google, and a surviving reblog of her Minish Cap Glamour was found here. I'm not sure what else is available, as I became un-frontstuck when I was planning on searching further. (Such is the way of systems.)
I plan on delving further into what remains, and I'm very grateful to the remaining community members for their advice on where to look. Many thanks, in particular, to @knightofhylia, @knightofhylia-sageofthetriforce, @wind-sage-serin, and @lostwoodstarryskies. Additionally, those in the Community of Hyrulean Faiths Discord server provide resources.
There remain some posts in the Collective's communal Likes that we plan on sharing upon adding to our Grimoire document, so expect those somewhere down the line. In the meantime, I'll continue my search and bring updates whenever possible.
Sincerely,
Vaati the Wind Mage 🌪️

Cadence of Hyrule (2019)
Well, this is very different and pretty damn cool. Nintendo just announced that the people behind the excellent musical dungeon-crawling game Crypt of the NecroDancer are making a Zelda game called Cadence of Hyrule. It’s out this spring.
The game appears to bring Cadence, the protagonist from Brace Yourself Games’ hit indie, to Link’s world. A trailer shows Link and Zelda fighting enemies throughout a game world that seems inspired by the Super Nintendo game The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
It looks rad.
A press release provided more details:
"As Link or Princess Zelda, players explore randomly generated overworld and dungeons on a quest to save Hyrule, and every beat of the 25 remixed Legend of Zelda tunes is a chance to move, attack, defend and more. From modern-looking Lynels to the Hyrulean Soldiers of old, players must master the instinctive movements of each pixel-art enemy and strategically outstep them in rhythmic combat using an arsenal of iconic items from The Legend of Zelda, as well as the spells and weapons from Crypt of the NecroDancer."
Crypt of the NecroDancer came out for PC in 2015 and was eventually ported to numerous devices, including the Nintendo Switch in 2018. In it, players move a character through a dungeon, one grid square at a time, as enemies also move each turn based on their own rules. The magic of the game is its music, as playing effectively requires you to make your moves in accordance with the rhythm.
This will be the first of two Zelda games slated for Switch this year, the other being the recently announced remake of Game Boy classic The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Surprising as it is to see Nintendo offering two Zelda games in one year, it’s an even bigger shock to see Nintendo let an indie studio work with one of its biggest franchises. Sure, we’ve seen Capcom make Zelda games and Sega make an F-Zero entry (that actually happened, right?), but a Vancouver team that made a Steam indie hit getting to make something Zelda-related—that’s something else.
Fun fact: The official name of the game is Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer feat. The Legend of Zelda.

I have inch tall polymer clay statues of the Wind Waker Goddess statues! Small enough to fit in one of those boxes they ship out jewelry in because I live with disapproving relatives haha. Pic under the cut!
Tumblr media
A question for those who keep a shrine or altar for a golden goddess:
What do you put on that space to signify the actual goddess? (eg an elemental stand-in? a humanoid statuette? nothing?)
I’ve been trying to think of what an open shrine or altar to the goddesses would look like for me, but the ambiguous forms of the goddesses makes it very open as to how you could portray them. I’m finding it tricky to pin down what I’d use  😅
