✨It’s the random wip fairy!✨ share a random part from a wip, then send this to five other people. Let’s encourage some writers!
Here's some soft MidLink that I fell asleep trying to write.

"Would you stop squirming and hold still you stupid wolf!" Midna chides as she tries to keep ahold of the Hylians arm.
That puppy like whine escapes him as he tries to stop fidgeting. Each little tug of the bandages pulling at the raw wounds as the imp carefully patches him up. The crackling fire illuminating her in a way that the monoton lighting of the twilight just doesn't seem to achieve. But here in the dead of night, beneath a starry moonless black sky. Surrounded by the tall grass of Hyrule field. The light dances off her in such a special way.
Despite how tired he is, how much every little movement hurts. Between cracked ribs, bruised limbs, and the deep gashes torn into his torso and various other places. Watching her methodically wrapping the bandages around his torn up arm ends up putting a small smile on his face.
"What's with the stupid look?" She mumbles with a small frown as she glances at him.
He smiles more, looking every bit like a dopey dog. "Y'er soft.."
A startled bawlk of confusion escapes her. "I'm what?!"
"Y'er soft.." He says with a tired little giggle. "Ya like t' think y're all cool an' mysterious but y're jus soft."
"I am not soft!"
"Yeah ye areee, y're really jus, so soft. And ya care and y're sweet! Ya just act like a big grouch.."
"Oh gods blood loss makes you loopy. Did you really loose that much? Are you going to live?!"
Despite the little imps' concern Link couldn't help but smile even more. Giggles escaping him once again. It was nice to see how much she cared. Seeing the sweet under all of her sourness

So you are taking sketch requests? If yes, I would love to see Twilight give a piggyback ride to Midna but in her true form
Also you have a very pretty Artstyle and I love it
Thank you so much anon! That's very sweet of you. I must say, Midna's outfit is so not made for piggybacks, but that only made me more determined to draw it.
Here's Twilight and Midna reunited at last...?
Tumblr media
Or perhaps at the end of their adventure together?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This also finally gave me an excuse to figure out how I wanted to draw Midna so here's a few bonus doodles of me figuring it out.

Febuwhump Day 4: Obedience (Link/Midna)
Ao3
CW for blood and injury, torture, and mild body horror
——————————-
Midna is no stranger to the sound of screams.
Her people had cried out when Zant had taken the throne and transformed her beautiful kingdom into something dark and twisted. Their cries of agony and anguish had echoed in her ears as she fled, a hideous imp, humiliated and furious. And they have remained with her all this time, spurring her onward toward salvation and victory.
But the noise that fills the air now is terrible in its own right. It pierces her skull and sets her heart racing erratically in her chest. And it feels as though it has been going on for eternity.
In reality, however, it has probably only been a few minutes. It doesn’t matter though. Midna has never derived joy from seeing Link suffer. This time is no different.
“Midna,” Zant’s leering voice reaches her ears once more, cascading smoothly over the waning sound of the hero’s hoarse screams. “Be an obedient dear and lend me your power. Do so and your precious, little human need not suffer further.”
Midna’s gaze travels down to where Link kneels mere feet away from her. His body is rigid, held in place by invisible bindings. His cap has fallen a short distance from him; his tunic and pants are splotched with mud, sweat, and blood. Tears stream down his ashen cheeks and well in his eyes, turning their gray the color of a stormy sky. But there is fire in them.
“Don’t,” he gasps, voice painfully ragged. “Please, Midna.”
Zant flicks a hand and the hero tenses further, an agonized whine breaking free.
“Quiet, dog,” he growls. “Count yourself lucky that I have allowed you the dignity of this form rather than letting the twilight have its way with you.”
“Lucky?” Midna shrieks, unable and unwilling to restrain herself. The nerve of this man! Calling himself her king, banishing her from her kingdom, demanding her aid…and now, hurting the hero. Her hero. “Being a human in a twilight realm is excruciating and you know that full well!”
“Come now, Midna,” Zant purrs, rounding her once more. His attempts at sweetness are as sour as his breath. “Calm yourself. This…human is pathetic in comparison to us. He has enjoyed the fruits of his people’s cruelty for far too long. It is time he felt some small portion of what we have endured.”
Midna is seething now. If only she were in her true form. If only she had that shadow crystal. She would rip this monster’s limbs off and cast him into the light-filled world he so detests.
“What we’ve endured?” She spits. “What about the things my people have suffered by your hand? You call yourself their king while you turn them into disgusting beasts!”
She kicks out, struggling against her bonds. But they hold fast, as suffocating and restrictive as this world.
“I have made the kingdom what it long should have been,” Zant replies, tone darkening. “You would have had it fall into obscurity and disrepair. You would have had our people forget all that they have endured because of the light dwellers.
“But you evade the question, my fallen princess. Will you help me or not?”
Link’s eyes find hers. He is breathing hard, shuddering beneath the weight of his own form. And yet, he smiles. It is only the slightest upturn of the lips, like a thread of twilight stretching bravely into the world of light. But Midna sees it all the same.
“Never.”
The word when she speaks it, shatters the momentary silence. She doesn’t have to see him to know Zant’s expression has turned murderous.
(Though, if she’s being honest, does it ever not look murderous? The man is vile.)
Her eyes, however, are only for Link. He is looking at her with pride in his gaze, pride and…maybe the beginnings of something else? She can’t be certain.
Whatever it is, she doesn’t deserve it.
“No?” Zant laughs and it seems to echo in the cavernous space. “Well then. You truly have fallen far Midna, to conspire with light dwellers in such a way. It nauseates me!”
Power surges through the air, a projectile of pure darkness slicing its way toward the hero. The energy it emanates is so dark, so sinister the air reverberates with it.
Midna gasps as she realizes what is about to happen. With an enraged screech, she struggles even harder than before. But she is helpless to stop it.
Darkness, fierce and sharp, collides with Link’s chest. It keeps going, shoving aside flesh and muscle and bone to burrow deep into his heart. His eyes go wide, blood bubbling from his lips as he chokes on a cry.
“This light dweller pretends to care for you and your world,” Zant sneers. “Perhaps, then, he will enjoy internalizing the shadows you inhabit.”
A skull-shattering scream pierces the air. Link thrashes, fighting desperately to get loose. Streaks of black crawl across his skin now, craters of molten obsidian amongst bloodless white.
“I wonder how much he can take before he breaks,” Zant muses.
He twists sleeve-hidden fingers and abruptly, Link crumples. Shadows dance in the air around him as he transforms. And then a beast lays twitching on the ground before her.
“No, stop!” The shout breaks free before she can restrain it.
But Zant doesn’t seem to even hear her. He is too enraptured by his own sadistic glee at Link’s agony.
The shadows around him grow thicker now, more potent. The obsidian marks spread like jagged lines of ink and blood oozes in their wake. They mar the hero’s lush gray coat, trickle into his once-bright eyes.
Midna inhales a ragged breath. If she doesn’t stop this, if she doesn’t act Link will die. That cannot happen.
She needs him to help her save her kingdom and her people. She needs him to save that little country town of his, and the kids who gaze at him like he is the sun itself, and the family he adores despite how they so violently despised his wolf form. She needs him to save the land Zelda has sacrificed so much for, the land Link looks upon with wonder.
She needs…she needs him.
So, she takes a deep breath and focuses. There is a crack, she realizes with a spark of hope, in the magic Zant is using to restrain her. She isn’t certain how she didn’t see it before. Perhaps, it wasn’t even there before.
It doesn’t matter. All that’s important is the way she can exploit it.
Midna forces her hands inside it, pulls it wider and wider until it is a gaping hole. Then, she shoves herself through, shattering her bonds as she does so. And when she opens her eyes once more, she is free.
She hits the ground with a dull thud and scrambles up. Zant whirls to face her, a screech of indignation ringing out as he unsheathes his swords. But she is too fast for him.
Fiery locks fly free, scooping the still-shuddering hero into their silken folds. Magic surges through her panicked and quick. And with a burst of sharp shadows, they are gone.
She lands them in Hyrule Field, for lack of a better place. It is far from most villages at least, with their mindless terror and ready torches. Gently, she lowers Link into the blades of green grass.
She can only hope that the teleportation wasn’t too much for him. But what other choice had she had?
“Link.”
Midna reaches out, ghostly fingers brushing his cheek. The word hitches in her throat, traitorous emotion struggling to break free. Fiercely, she shoves it back down.
“Come on, you idiot! Wake up!”
As if in response, his breath stutters. Gray-blue eyes flutter open, flitting about in a panic before they land on her. He shifts, brushing his nose against her immaterial form. A low whine echoes in his throat.
Midna lets out a shaky sigh. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. He didn’t touch me. Worry about yourself like you should.”
Link huffs a breath, seeming indignant. But his efforts are weak. His usual snark is gone with his strength, sapped by the madman who had sought to use him.
Shaking her head, Midna turns to gaze at the castle that bravely rises past the horizon.
“You just hold on, Link,” she murmurs. “I’ll get you the help you need.”
And after that? She’ll find the might necessary to hurl Zant into the sun.

can you give us more midlink info⁉️ I love them‼️
I uhhhhh kinda forgot you sent this in. Deepest apologies, anon.
Here's a few silly little things:
Remember my headcanon about Twilight being really into silly romance novels? I think he used to read them out loud to Midna whenever they had free time. Midna left before finding out how her favorite series ended and has been wanting to ask Twilight about it, but she's can't gather the courage to ask
I really want to write a scene where Midna flicks her tongue-- and she has a really monsterous tongue, like a snake or a tentacle. Twilight sees it and just... blushes 😳😳😳😳and Wild is off in the corner like OH MY GOD YOU KINKY FREAK
Pre-game Midna was definitely a bit of a party girl who didn't take her duties seriously. She was a heart breaker, and she freaked out when she realized that Twilight was attracted to her when she was an imp
Twilight used to be severely scared of the dark. Having Midna guard him helped him get over it. He got so used to associating darkness with her that, shortly after she left, he would sit in dark rooms and hope to see her shadow take form in the corners

Featuring: MidLink, Twilight&Warriors qpr, hurt/comfort, blood loss, blood and injury, loopy talk, old and new memories
"Yeah ye are, y're really jus, so soft.
Seeing the sweet under all of her sourness.
Things were getting more and more dangerous, the injuries were starting to pile up. The ability to keep potions on him more difficult, and the time to travel to springs and supply spots is getting less and less even with the portals.
At the start he'd bandage his wounds in silence and mend his armor when he couldn't sleep for fear of what could jump out of the shadows. Such a routine quickly became something that kept him sane, so he didn't even realize when she started helping. When she'd take over wrapping the bandages because his hands were shaking. Pulling thorns and teeth from his body and rubbing salves on his burns.
Rather than waking up curled up in the dirt beneath Epona's feet alone and cold. He'd find her curled up with him like a cat during the night, staying as long as possible before the light would chase her into his shadow.
"Oh, oh gods no don't do that! Put those back there's no need for any of your stupid human leaking! You're losing enough fluids as it is!" Midna frets with a forced tone of annoyance. Her small hands wiping at the damp streaks now covering his cheeks.
That's funny? When did he start crying. Another soft chuckle escapes him as he leans into her hands unintentionally. Large warm tears continuing to well up more and more. Truth be told he doesn't have the energy to try and stop them, but try he does, at least for her sake.
"What is with you! Seriously this shit spills out of you faster than blood.." Midna hisses though it's still far more concerned than annoyed.
"'M sorry…jus sometimes they jus, kinda come out ya know? Kinna hard t' stop em once they're goin." He manages with a weak but wet laugh.
"I do not know. I'm above them.." She huffs.
That thought just makes him sad, his smile falling a bit. He knows very much how often she feels emotions. That she bottles all of them up and turns them into anger and sarcasm.
Before he's really aware of what he's doing his arms are around her. Holding her close as he can without squeezing her too tightly, not that he has the strength to smother her with affection right now. Even so the surprised squeak he gets out of her is enough to get a choked giggle out of him.
"Link! What are you doing!" Midna squawks as she tries to wiggle out of his hold without hurting him further.
Link lets out another soft chuckle, resting his forehead on her small shoulder. "M' sorry…jus..j-jus 'member ya don't hafta be 'bove it all when yer with me…"
The little imps wiggling stills as she lets out a soft sigh. Her small hand gently patting the top of his head before her little fingers card through his hair a bit.
"Alright you stupid little wolf…" She murmurs with a surprising amount of gentleness as she rests her head against his. "Get some sleep….we'll get you somewhere safe in the morning…and I'll keep the monsters at bay for now.."
°•○•°
"Okay, okay buddy you're gonna be just fine..I just need you to calm down okay?" Warriors manages in as calm a tone as he can muster.
Blood seeps through the deep blue of the blonde's scarf as he presses it firmly against the ragged wound torn into Twilight's chest. Staining his nimble fingers a bright crimson.
"Mm..'s kinda hard when there's 'n adrenlin fairy flittin 'bout" Twilight slurs as his eyes travel around in a panick. Scanning the battlefield for signs of their friends.
They'd landed in Warriors Hyrule, dropped right in the middle of a battle. Time had been torn asunder again and it was sheer chaos, monsters from all of their worlds tearing through forces like paper. They'd gotten separated from one another pretty quickly.
"Adrenaline fairy? Is that what you said?" Warriors asks with the small bit of amused exasperation he manages to muster. That ever so faint bell like ring to his words soothing Twilight at least a bit. "Please dear farmer, tell me that isn't actually where you think adrenaline comes from?"
A pained but honest chuckle escapes the ranch hand as he lets his head plop back against the boulder holding him upright. "Makes sense don't it? 'S like a spell hits ya out of nowhere 'n doesn't ware off easy..mean we've…we've seen butterflies that can stave off..the cold….an frogs that k-keep yah wake…why not drenlin..fairies..?"
More giggles escape him as he continues to ramble on. Part of him just wishing his brother would stop looking at him like he's dying.
"Okay…okay big guy..whatever you say okay? Just uh…just use that fairy to keep awake okay? We'll get you a potion really soon here.." Warriors says with a nod, his melodic voice trembling slightly.
"Heyyy…hey 'm okay…I'll be okay..I've..I've had worse….I think..certainly felt worse. So 'm kay…okay..?" Twilight says as he presses his shaking hands over the Captains.
"Don't you dare start trying to comfort me." Warriors frowns with a shake of his head as he tries to make sure he's pressing as hard as he can against the wound.
"Ya look so sad tho..." Twilight says with that sad puppy dog whine as he lets his head drop forward slowly. Plopping his forehead against his brothers so he can properly see those fierce crystal blue eyes, that are maybe getting just a little blurry because of the bloodloss. "Don't be sad…no reason t' be sad…"
"I'm…I'm holding your skin together as you bleed out before my eyes! H-how…I'm..I'm watching my brother die and you expect me not to be sad!!" Wars croaks, that bell like sound rattling with a desperation the other doesn't like hearing.
"'M not dying…no sir..not me.." Twilight murmurs.
"Twi you're!-"
"Didja…did ya realize..how pretty yer voice is..?" Twilight interrupts without meaning to.
"What..?"
"Yer voice…sounds like magic..it's all strong an…an commanding….specially..when yer usin that outdoor voice….it sounds like music! Is…'s really hard t' be mad atcha sometimes..specially when yer bein….'noyin..cuz the…the bells sound so happy…"
Warriors cheeks flare a bright red as he tries to focus on the injury again. "Really?! Now is when you go on about something like that?! Now is not the time you stupid wolf!"
Twilight can't help the chuckles that rumble out of him no matter how much they hurt. Squeezing the Captains hands as the wobbly giggles keep coming.
"Oh my….all this time and blood loss still makes you loopy."
The sweet feminine voice stills his laughter. All of the air being torn from his lungs at once.
Warriors pulls his head away from his brother and looks towards the voice. Relief filling his composure. "Midna! Thank the goddesses..please, please tell me you have a health potion on you?!"
"I do..don't worry he'll be alright."
Twilight's eyes fill with tears as he watches the princess come into view. The ruler of twilight kneeling beside him with ease and grace, almost as if she hadn't been missing from his life all these years.
"Sweet wolf…did you miss me that much..?" She whispers softly as thin baby blue fingers begin to card through his hair.
"Yer…yer really here..?" He manages on a choked sob. Immediately leaning into her touch as heavily as he can.
"Yes you silly farm boy…I'm right here.." She murmurs as she carefully shifts closer to him. "Drink this for me okay..? You'll feel a little better…."
Carefully she gets him to drink down the sour red liquid. His pain slowly starting to eb away a bit with each passing second.
"It won't heal you all the way…but it'll be much better in a few minutes.." She whispers as she looks him over. "I've also got some bandages..so we're going to fix you up a bit alright?"
He manages a small nod, the tears still falling heavily as he does. Time passes in a blur after that as his brother, and the woman he misses so dearly, carefully get him undressed bandaged and redressed in an efficient fashion. Apparently he even passed out at one point during the process. Because when he wakes there's a small fire lighting the gloomy little area. He can hear and see that more of his brothers had found them. Piled together and sleeping soundly in a couple different cuddle piles.
He can feel Wars hanging onto him with a strong arm around his waist. That golden halo of hair telling him the Captains face is currently buried in his stomach, and he's at least calm enough that he's breathing evenly. He can also smell that it's Wild who's pressed up against his back in a tight little ball despite the fact he's nearly laying on him, but that's where his investigation stops. His eyes already beginning to water as he slowly looks up at the ethereal figure carding fingers through his hair again.
Midna has him held in her lap with a pillow, his cheek resting against her stomach as he gazes at her. Her hood is down, showing that shaggy spiky red hair of hers that she usually keeps hidden aside from her long flowing ponytail.
"You light dwellers and your emotions.." She whispers as she gently brushes away some of his tears. "Stop that now..you've lost enough fluids as it is…"
He sniffles a bit and nuzzles into her touch. Closing his eyes tightly for only a moment before opening them again, afraid that if he looks away for too long she'll disappear again.
"...It's okay..I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere for a while.." She whispers.
"...promise..?" He murmurs softly.
"I promise….so just sleep, Little Beasty…..I'll keep the monsters at bay for you.."

Oh DO tell me more about the Eveni LU little drabbly thing
You know what, I’ll just show you the part I actually wrote out, since the beginning bit is actually pretty well done.
There’s more to it then this obviously, but this is the part that one night I just wrote out because I was in the mood. this is what I do when I’m bored XD
(For those unaware, Eveni is Link (Twilight in this case) and Midna’s son.)
————————————————————
Link sprints through the portal with a hand held tightly to his son.
That black lizalfos had nearly killed him, killed them both, and the portal was the last place to go. He’s bleeding from a slice to his arm and his head is spinning from dark magic, but Eveni is unhurt, and that’s all that matters.
He breathes in shakily as he holds his son to his chest, looking up at their new surroundings.
They’re in a forest, but it’s much different from the one they were in before jumping through the portal. It’s smaller, younger, and deciduous trees instead of pines, late afternoon sunlight shining through their leaves.
It’s also fall. Which is odd, because it had been late spring where he’d just been.
“Huh,” he says absently, making sure the sling securing Eveni to his chest is tight, “well that’s a might strange.”
His son babbles in seeming agreement.
Link no more hears the presence behind him then senses it, leaping out of the way as a blade suddenly swings through the portal. Eveni shrieks and he bolts, noting that he’s not on any sort of trail or anything as he sprints.
Leaves crunch under his feet and roots stick up from the ground to try and trip him, but he can’t afford to slow down. He can still hear the lizalfos chasing him, and while it’d be so much faster to be a wolf, it’s also a lot harder to hold a baby when you don’t have arms.
Something swipes at his face and as Link jerks to avoid it he stumbles, and claws gouge into the back of his knee.
He sprawls to the ground with a cry, turning and clutching Eveni so he doesn’t hurt him inadvertently, and winces as he lies in the dirt for a second. Link hears footsteps and begins to scramble for his shield when his world lurches, something throwing him backwards and pinning him to a large tree.
And snatching Eveni out of his arms.
Link shouts as the black lizalfos steps forward, holding up his baby as it looks at him with an almost amused expression.
Eveni begins to cry.
“Let him go,” Link nearly roars, but whatever is holding him does not budge even from his in no way measly strength. It’s magic or something— there’s nothing visibly holding him back. “I’m who you’re after let him go he’s done nothing—!”
The lizalfos grins and peels back the blanket, licking its chops.
Link feels an all-encompassing fear crash over him and he shouts with pure panic and rage as he pulls with all his might to break free, struggling madly and feeling utterly helpless as the lizalfos looks hungrily at his son.
An arrow slams into the lizard’s knee.
It screeches, and the magic holding Link fades enough for him to break himself free and leap at the monster, kicking and clawing at its face. It hisses angrily but Link manages to grab his son out of its grasp, holding him close as he scrambles backwards.
He takes a second to thank the spirits Eveni is okay, then grabs for his sword as he tries to soothe the wailing baby and also keep an eye on the lizalfos.
But the last of these ends up being unnecessary.
The lizalfos is already gone, no sign of it but a trail of black blood leading off into the woods. In it’s place are three hylians, one holding a bow, who are looking at him with wide, concerned eyes. Several more are charging into the woods, and Link assumes they’re chasing the escaped monster.
“Sir is your baby okay?” asks one, a short kid with a green bandana in his fringe. He takes a hesitant step forward. “Are you okay?”
Link shuffles back, unsure of what to think of these men. They must have shot the monster, but he’s in a completely unfamiliar location and situation here.
And his head is still spinning from having watched Eveni nearly die.
“Wh... do you...” he asks, clutching his son and ignoring how there’s blood running down both his arm and leg now. “Where am I?”
A large man, wearing armor that’s eerily familiar, holds out a placating hand, sheathing his sword with the other.
“A place called Akkala, or so I’m told,” he says gently, obviously trying to calm Link down, “We’re hunting the lizalfos... or perhaps he’s hunting us. I’m sure you’ve noticed it’s not a regular one of its kind.”
Link bares his teeth in a snarl without meaning to as he thinks of how the monster grabbed Eveni, and the men inch back a bit. He pushes down the growl in his throat and sighs, suddenly exhausted.
“It... chased us through some portal,” he says, blinking tiredly. “Was going for me. Specifically.”
The teenager with the bow glowers. “How many more of us is it going to drag into this? Can’t it just leave us alone already?”
Eveni lets out another wail and Link turns his attention fully to him, holding him closer and gently soothing him.
“Hey, hey it’s okay buddy it’s okay, Daddy’s got you, he’s gone,” he whispers, and his son’s wailing slowly fades to more quiet whimpers. The man in the armor steps closer then, and offers him a cautious hand. Link takes it, stumbling with his bad leg, and the man doesn’t let go once he’s upright, giving him a concerned look-over.
Link meets his eye (the other is closed, a scar marring the lid) and for some reason... he feels that he can completely trust the man in front of him.
“Thank you for assisting me,” Link says gratefully, giving the man’s arm a squeeze. “You helped protect my son, and I can’t thank you enough for that.”
The man nods, and gives him a small smile. “Our pleasure. I’m glad he’s okay. Both of you.”
Eveni rubs his face up to Link’s chest with a whimper, and he shushes him again, running a hand over his head.
You’re okay, you’re okay.
“Hey, is your name Link?” the teenager with the bow abruptly asks. Link snaps his head up and stares at him, his already confused brain not quite up to figuring that one out.
“Wh— yes..? How’d you... do I know you?” he asks in confusion, and the kid with the bandana lets out a small laugh.
“We’ll explain, but uh, why don’t you sit and drink a potion first. You’re looking sort of... pale.”
Link doesn’t hesitate long before agreeing. These people, though they’re obviously all well-equipped fighters, don’t mean him any harm, and helped with protecting Eveni (which makes them more than okay in his book). They seem to be adventurers similar to himself, if he’d have to take a guess, or possibly monster hunters of some sort. Not to mention...
...there’s an odd sense of familiarity about them as well.
But Link is too tired to dwell on it much, so he merely follows the group, brushing a spot of blood off Eveni where it dripped from his arm.
The mystery can wait for now.

In the game of Twilight Princess, Midna shatters the mirror of twilight because for the simple reason of knowing if left open, that everything they did to save both kingdoms would be at risk of yet another attack. This was also shown in the manga. Though the manga creators were given more creative way of telling the story, it is not canon to Nintendo. Nintendo allows it but have made it very clear the mangas have never been canon. Not saying people who are midlink shippers are wrong. Thats the thing about fandoms, you can ship however you like and that is 100% valid for you. Not everyone will ship the same way. Thats okay too. So now that’s out of the way, i would like to discuss something I felt was disturbing.
So in the game midna is very sassy, it just her trying to cover up her feeling of being able to do anything in her current state once Zant turned her into the imp form. So she seemed help, but wasn’t exactly nice about it. Link (twilight) happened to be her tool to getting what she wanted. Taking back her kingdom and giving little care (at first) to what happened to his world. She had an agenda. His agenda was basically to save his home and the people who are in it. The Ordon kids, ilia and the village. He later on found out though the light spirits that his task was much more then just his little village. That he was fated to save all of hyrule. He also even through her sassy ways, could see Midna behavior was of someone who was scared for her people, her kingdom. Though she only saw Link (Twilight) was a means to and end. Her attitude changed after he (despite how she treated him) when he went out of his way to get her help as she was dying. Along with seeing how much both Link and Zelda were willing to sacrifice to help her save her kingdom as well.
The manga story was a tad different and it doesn’t entirely follow the game because the creators were given creative leeway by Nintendo to tell their own version of the game. Yes Nintendo had to approve the manga before it got published. However, Nintendo has been clear that the mangas are just a work of fan content and by no means canon. Other then the one in the Hyrule historia. I actually wasn’t too fond of the creators take on Link’s back story, but that’s just me. Still amazing piece either way. So what is troubling me is the normalization of the way Midna was towards Link (twilight) and assuming that its a healthy relationship (or friendship. However way you saw it) to be physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive towards him. She hits him, calls him names….I mean that’s not okay.
“Oh well she just teasing and being sassy.”
Yeah okay in the game that’s true, the manga really went a lot father then just sass some times. There were other characters in the manga where it sort of implied things far more beyond just abuse, beside link and midna stuff. Manga was far more darker then the game.
At the end of the final manga we come to the part where Midna is about to shatter the mirror and telling Link that no, he can’t go with her. (Manga implied they have feelings for each other) some may assume if they havent played the game she is shattering the mirror for no reason. She is. It cause light and dark can’t mix. That is clear. Thus she is shattering the mirror to once again protect both their worlds from having happened, to happen again.
So now you maybe wondering where I have issue with the manga and Midlink area. Many have gone to say the content in the manga is “Juicy” when Link (twilight) couldn’t understand why he couldn’t just leave with her. Her reasoning was because he belong in the light world. To continue to serve hyrule (completely different from what actually happened in the game). Midna called him “disobedient and rude….” As she has said and told him several time through the manga series. Ever since they met that is how she saw him. “Disobedient” and “Rude”. Then she full on smacked him. A very in character thing for her to do. Yes. Then tells him, “No link, go back”
He replies, “I don’t want to.”
Which then resulted in her kissing him, pushing him away and saying with a smirk, “there’s… your reward.” Followed by “I’m not trying to silence you. That was a GIFT…from the real me.” Followed by her breaking the mirror. Which few speculate once again that this was to stop link from chasing after her. If the mirror was intact. Sure that maybe how it was seen I guess, but knowing all that hyrule went through, midna knew they couldn’t be together and to protect his and her world, it had to be shattered.
So for many people, seeing the kiss is a way to make up for smacking him. People saw this as Romance was confirmed, which no doubt it seems so. However this giving readers the thought that some how the way she treated him during the whole series was completely normal and shows a “Healthy relationship” between two people.
Sorry to break it to folks, but that is in no way “Healthy”. Matter of fact her way of treating him, even if he was was being disobedient and rude, by no means did she need to do half the stuff she did to him. Yes he is stubborn, yes the he sort of got an ego after he got the master sword. But by no means is smacking a person okay or doing half the dang stuff she did. I can’t stand for that kind of message that its normal to hurt each other in a pretty abusive way. Even if it wasn’t abusive…nobody (friend, family, partner) should ever treat another person the way Link was treated in the manga. That is where I have issue is the view that this is normal and okay. Healthy. NO! If you are a midlink shipper and you are making the conclusion based on the Manga that smacking or hurting anyone demonstrates a “healthy relationship” I worry.
So what’s going on in LU, well the Comic creator has made it very clear we wont be seeing midna, that Link’s feelings right now are just complicated and that his heart sort of torn right now, though he is close with Ilia. (Relationship or friendship) she is basing her take on Midna and Link friendship, relationship, its complicated based off the game and not off of the Manga. Not sure of what her take is of the manga it self. But this what she said a long while back:
Tumblr media
So in conclusion, i wasn’t midlink shippers to enjoy their ship, but avoid justifying abusive actions as “Healthy”. Though this is about a bunch of fictional characters. There are folks out there who have or do experience this and chalk it up to they deserve this kind of treatment. Which is not true. Everyone deserves to be in a relationship where one should never be physically, verbally, or emotional treated in such a manner.
Now if you saw things differently and I am open to hear you out. Comment below and explain how you saw the interaction between LInk and Midna.
But I wanted to share my upset at the thought people found the ending showing a healthy relationship by abusive behavior.
That is all. I again don’t want other to take this as me being anti midlink or discouraging people who ship midlink. I was just troubled.
Thank you for hearing me out.

THIS IS GOING TO BE CANON FOR MY MODERN AU
I need to write these. ideas all down. So this song, twilight singing about midna. (obvi when he's older and not a kid anymore)
I've been hanging on, counting days, thinking it was me all along Had a million conversations in my head 'bout where it went wrong And I've got no idea where you've been, who you are, not any more All I got is this polaroid picture of us from June 24th
It's where I kissed you for the first time, laid on your sheets You gave me your heart and said you trust it with me But all I did was let you down, time and time again It wasn't my intention Maybe we should have been friends
So, you're someone I used to know But nobody said it be easy But maybe I should have known One more drink, just swallow it down I gotta get you out of my mind But nobody said it was easy Maybe I should have known
I've been out 'til late, shifting beds, tryna kill the image of you Got a million stupid reasons not to call, it's just that I want to Do you remember how we pulled the drapes in the basement To get away from the world that we couldn't fit in And how we used to walk those empty streets at night
In the city lights is where I saw you for the last time Said our goodbyes Sat in the car, you saw the pain in my eyes But I just couldn't let you down time and time again It wasn't my intention Maybe we should have been friends
So, you're someone I used to know But nobody said it be easy But maybe I should have known One more drink, just swallow it down I gotta get you out of my mind But nobody said it was easy But maybe I should have known
