HELLO PEOPLE
HEY I FINALLY FINISHED THIS THING!!! It is my biggest project yet and i'm quite proud of it
I spent so many hours on this help this is what gay archivists do to your brain
[ID: A screenshot of a Bing news page. It shows multiple news stories about Al Blaschke. The most prominent headline reads: "103-year-old man breaks Guinness skydiving record". / End ID]
[ID: An image of Tiffany Pollard looking extremely shocked. The caption reads, in all caps: "Simon?" / End ID]
I genuinely love the hypocrisy shown within the avatars. Especially with Simon Fairchild.
Simon's entire philosophy is about our own insignificance in the universe and our lack of importance. Yet, the moment he is in any potential danger, Simon bails on the conversation.
For him, seeing others and the world as insignificant only applies if it gives a path to his own indulgence and satisfaction. The Vast is about taking and gluttony as much as it's about feeling small in the face of the universe.
So, in that way, seeing others as insignificant is just a way to not see the fault of your own actions. A hedonist lifestyle in its most extreme, and in that way, death is the most fearful prospect. Knowing the world is so infinite, you view yourself as better.
Just like all avatars, Simon's view of "insignificance" is just an excuse to hurt other people.
Never thought of Simon Fairchild as an outright funny character... until MAG174 in which his entrance is him falling from the sky and faceplanting into the dirt, genuinely thinking he's just having a fun hang-out with The Boys, while the statement is about a giant creature which blocks out the sky aka a giant f-you to Jonah/Elias
fully expecting everyone that made art of past s5 moments to go back and poorly edit in a distant helen sitting in a lawn chair with popcorn and binoculars and watching everything go to shit
