Hey, hey you, you want an angsty prompto headcanon? no? too bad. Iggy and Gladio and Noct all spent- likely the majority of their lives with access to the armiger on merit of their stations. But Prom? Prom likely didn't get access to the armiger until he'd been certified as Crownsguard (which would make him what? 19-20 by most accounts? most people place him completing his training pretty close to when the bros depart for altissia)

So consider- Prompto carrying just a few spare potions on him, some gauze, a snack, a canteen. Prompto carrying things on his person by force of habit from training and two decades of life without a pocket dimension to stuff his stuff in.

If you want to be a little less canon compliant I also raise you- Prompto carrying his pistol in a traditional holster rather than the armiger. especially once the stakes start climbing and the bros get into more and more dangerous situations (post-Titan prolly). He feels like it's easier to pull out than worry about focusing on the armiger and he feels just a little safer.

I raise you One More option as well for episode prompto specifically. Prom deciding to carry one of his pistols on his person because he's alone and the unfamiliar wilderness in enemy territory is dangerous and he's not cut out to be a solo fighter. Carries some spare first aid materials too. snacks. water. starts making the trek westward to hopefully meet up with the boys. And then he gets in a fight. maybe with a pack of voretooths or garulas or some MTs. Whatever the case, he runs out of potions and still tanks one hit too many. maybe he's limping. maybe he broke an arm. maybe he got a nasty cut and he cant afford the blood loss. It's fine. After the fight, he reaches for the armiger and-- nothing. his fingers close around empty air. He tries again. again, again, again. a potion, a hi-potion, a sword, a fishing rod, a loose pepper, a chocobo plush he and Noct won ath the arcade before everything came down around their ears-- anything at all. He's cut off from it. Noctis must have cut him off somehow. Noctis must really, really hate him. (Maybe, later, wandering the frigid magitech facility, he'll wonder if Noctis knew the truth about him before he himself knew)

was binge reading kaito kid going through it fanfics and came accross the DID subesction of fics.... obviously my psych self immediately opened google doc for a new au! ....and then stared at the blank page for 30 minutes before deciding today was a drawing day instead of a writing day! so tumblyr will be blessed today instead of my AO3 account lol

Yesss, i’ve never liked the whole Maegor is born from witchcraft, so he’s doomed to have dragon-mutant babies. With him having so many wives and desperately wanting children I got Henry VIII-vibes too!!

i definitely DO think there is canon basis for the idea that witchcraft was behind some part of it, and i know a lot of people like it .... it's just not my cup of tea 💔 one of my favourite parts about asoiaf are the historical parallels and i think maegor's undoing (to a degree, obv that wasn't the only wrong move the guy nicknamed Maegor The Cruel made) being the way he treated his wives and his court is a really fun way to inerpret specifically his fertility issues especially with his pretty clear henry viii-isms

Something that I feel a lot of fans forget when they get angry at Phoebe for refusing to help Cole in the Wasteland is that he's not just asking her to save him. Despite saying that the Source is gone, he very intentionally still asks her to be evil. That's not me being dramatic or anything either because that's very explicitly canon. Phoebe, even as a Charmed One, doesn't have the power to resurrect Cole. As a good witch, she just physically (magically?) can't; it's not something within her abilities. (Obviously, otherwise, she and Piper would've resurrected Prue.)

The only method that Cole gives her to save him is the Grimoire. Y'know, the book that requires you to be evil to even touch it, much less use it. That's not something that you can trick; she would have to become evil again to even use it. He knows that, even acknowledges it to Phoebe in the Wasteland. She literally tells him that she won't use dark magic again, acknowledging it as evil. Cole isn't like oh, forgot about that! No, he asks her if she wouldn't use it "even for us." He knows what that would entail and what that would require Phoebe to do.

That isn't even getting into what the spell itself would require. This part, admittedly, is speculation but with the Grimoire being the Grimoire and resurrection like that being so rare and difficult, I have a hard time believing that the spell or ritual wouldn't have involved killing innocents. (Personal headcanon is that the spell calls for at least one heart personally. We see with Tuatha in That Old Black Magic that she uses a human heart to disempower witches. Something much worse would logically be required for a resurrection spell.) Just asking Phoebe even retrieve the Grimoire, much less use it, is bad.

As for later, she is still planning on giving up her powers, so it's not as if she'll be able to discover some other method to save him. She won't be Charmed anymore. And while, yes, the Angel of Destiny gives them some time to make this decision, there's still a time limit on how long they can take this option. Maybe with more time, Phoebe would have been able to figure out a way to save him without the Grimoire. However, it'd have required her to stay chained to a destiny that she no longer wanted and give up the future that she, and Piper, wanted: one free of magic, pain, loss, etc. So, yeah, she simply doesn't have the time, resources, or ability to save him without the Grimoire (which still isn't an option anyways). And by the time that she and Piper decide that they want to remain as witches, Cole has already freed himself, so it's a moot point anyways.

I mean, genuinely, in this situation, what did people want Phoebe to do? She didn't refuse to save Cole; she literally could not save him from the Wasteland. (And this is without delving into the argument about if Phoebe should save him or is obligated to save Cole anyways, which is a completely different question involving their relationship, choices, and morality.)

So imagine if Dick did get like kidnapped by the court of owls when he was a child and Bruce never saves him. (Like that one glimpse into the comic panel except THIS bruce is aware of the original timeline and it kills him and Dick is like actually pure evil and keeps succeeding in where Joker can’t.)

Dick has a habit of bending his ankles out abnormally to perch. He has a habit of batting at himself or punishing when he thinks he’s done something wrong.

And?

He always, always goes for the kill.

Bruce couldn’t have felt more guilt than ever knowing in another universe he saved this kid, some maybe universe alternate shenanigans, he SEES that dick is nightwing or robin and he saved him from this fate.

Instead he currently has the court of owls apprentice who hates his guts and wants him dead, who has pushed him off a cliff before, who would have ran into a street full of fear toxin then face him.

He hates himself for it.

He sees the lovely family he’s supposed to have, keyword supposed to and cringes everytime he sees how bad he messed up in this one.

Imagine if in this timeline he tries to save Jason because he sees him as robin in the other timeline but instead of Joker, Dick is the one to maim and kill him per order of the owls.

Because the bat is the enemy.

Imagine Jason coming back so angry, distraught that Bruce let him die only to have the alternative timeline revealed to him, only to see it’s the original one, only to learn was struggling to decide between hurting one son to save the other.

And damage their relationship forever, or let the other be killed. Jason is both mortified and disgusted at the fact that Dick is a hero in another world and his brother.

He’s ruined two sons.

Then comes along tim.

He’s aware this time, that tim is his son, or should be and yet he refuses Tim, so badly. He ignores him despite knowing young Tim’s fascination.

Yet the gods have a cruel way of laughing at him.

Because the owls finds him fascinating.

A young bird who wants to possess knowledge? from a family of wealth? He’s absolute perfect for an apprenticeship and then Bruce is too late, once again.

The owls have snatched another and Dick, oh so ever protective now has a baby bird in his nest, a Tim Drake who lets himself be fed all the lies and the manipulation.

But he cannot bring himself to kill.

A slight habit they’re working on.

And like clockwork comes along Barbara, she was never meant to be, she was late in this time, he learnt in the original timeline she was batgirl, an inspiration for girls around and women, she was absolutely awe inspiring.

And yet he watches as Dick lunges his sword into her spine and paralyses her forever.

His sorry will never not be enough.

He hesitantly accepts stephanie into his life with open arms, she’s not his daughter and never will be but she sure does act like he’s an old man whose just taken to any stray rat he can find.

She loves the robin.

It gives her freedom.

When she asks “where did Robin even come from? not exactly dark and edgy.” In her own words he can’t find the simplicity to say he stole it from the original Bruce and his son.

To remorse on what could have been him and his son, sure Dick’s parents might have died but he could have saved a boy and made him a wonder.

Yet that never happened here.

And bile fills his mouth as the Joker gets too close, putrid fills his veins and his heart as he watches Tim get close, Timothy drake who couldn’t kill before, shakily plunged a dagger into her heart and she died.

In his arms, the robin suit stained with blood as she made incoherent statements, gestures, trying to comprehend why he was so sorry, why he wasn’t more angry and all he could do was beg for someone to save her.

No doctors could in time, it nicked an artery, she was bleeding and bleeding fast, the shock was worse when she realised her life would end so young.

He’s, terrified.

When Duke comes along.

A boy with the powers of light surely must be a miracle? he must survive? No, not even the slightest, before he can dawn the ‘signal’ suit he plunges from a roof and disappears.

Bruce watches the original timeline with something heavy in his chest feeling cursed, why does that man get to be at least, happier?

No body was found but he has a feeling he’s dead anyway.

Then Damian is born, his son, Talia hands him over when he’s just a baby, her eyes aren’t full of fear but sharing secrets they both know, in both universes he’ll become robin, in one he might die.

So Bruce protects him, he sleeps by his crib at night awaiting the devils to take him.

He bites at his nails and loses sight of himself.

But it’s okay as long as he has his son.

He babyproofs the manor which is NOT easy, god he complains to alfred a million times, he has to strengthen the chains on the chandeliers and get them higher.

(He sees in the original timeline Dick climbing on them, swinging and breaking one and his heart mourns for a little boy who could have been his son)

He puts baby gates everywhere on the stairs and he means everywhere, alfred thought he was overdoing it but he was strict.

Talia comes, once, he pretends not to notice but her eyes are full of remiss wanting to see her son so he pretends to sleep a bit more as she opens a window, slips in and hugs her baby tight.

It’s alright.

They can both tell themselves.

It’s alright.

The owls can watch and bide their time but this time he would succeed in protecting his son, he wouldn’t let him die or be taken away and when he sees the angry face upset at him for opening the door too loud, he finds it all worth the wait.

Also on the TMA/Ffxv fusion situation, I think Melanie, basira, georgie , and daisy are still creeped out by Jon and think he’s dangerous but it’s more just ingrained lucian prejudice than anything real this time.

Not cause they are bad people but because jon is a hedge-witch and only the royals are supposed to have magic, he’s literally a heretic it is correct and logical to be wary (it just so happens the gods are assholes and you shouldn’t even trust them.)

Difference here is jon could not give less of a shit i think. He’s friends with local hunters and others who still believe archaic philosophies so he’s good xD

this may just be the solas stannie in me but every time someone is like "haha fenris would hate solas" I'm like. well i think he would initially. i think they would have an absolutely fascinating dynamic. but i also genuinely think solas is one of the only people ever who could change fenris' mind. especially veilguard era where he's able to be honest and share what he knows openly and fully.

Thoughts about zombie viruses in media?

HI!!! IM SO GLAD YOU ASKED

Zombie viruses are INCREDIBLY hit or miss for me. I either love them or hate them and very often hate them.

My main problem is that SO much zombie media tries to be accurate to real life or take real world inspiration, and as someone who knows a lot about diseases, that ruins it for me SO bad. No matter what you do to Rabies it will not do that. Neither will prions. Honestly prions as a zombie virus often has racist roots in misperception of the Kuru outbreak in the Fore people. (Looking at you DEAD ISLAND.)

I like zombie viruses that are removed from reality. That's honestly why I've enjoyed the MLP infection au trend so much- quite a few of 'em hit the perfect sweet zone of fantasy science and pure fantasy. The Resident Evil series is in a similar spot- the science in that series is COMPLETELY insane and means nothing and it's beautiful.

When zombie media focuses on scientific explanations that are just- not science, it leaves out the much more amazing chance for weird story telling. Give me more magic viruses! Ancient curses! Completely implausible viruses that acknowledge they're implausible and don't focus on it!

....also sometimes when people learn I like diseases they immediately ask me about zombies and it makes me want to bite someone.
