Apple Seed: Hell's Angels Feat. Charlie

-At Charlie and Vaggie's wedding reception-

Lucifer: (teary-eyed as he yanks Vaggie into a bone crushing hug) Oh! I'm so happy you and Charlie are finally married, Vaggie!

Vaggie: Ack! (Gently pats Lucifer's back) Thank you... Sir.

Lucifer: Come on, Vaggie. No need to be so formal now. Call me- (sniffs back a tear and clasps his hands together) -Dad?

Vaggie: Uh, sure..... Dad.

Lucifer: (squeals and taps his feet in a very Morningstar fashion) Hehehehehehe~ Oh! I almost forgot! (Digs around in his inner suit jacket pockets) I have a special present for you two.

Vaggie: With all due respect, Sir- uh, Dad, I think Charlie and I have enough rubber ducks.

Lucifer: One second! I know it's in here somewhere. No, not that. *squeak!* Whoop! Definitely not that! *grrrrrrrr!* Yipe! I gotta remember to get that out of there eventually....

Vaggie: How many pockets are in that jacket????

Lucifer: Ah-HA!!! FOUND YOU!!! (pulls out a white velvet box with crimson embroidery and presents it to Vaggie) Da-dada-Daaaaa!

Vaggie: (Stomach drops at the sight of the suspiciously ring box looking gift) Uuuuuuhhhhhhhhh, Sir? I'm already married.... to Charlie.... Your daughter..... You were literally just a babbling crying mess in the first row of the ceremony....

Lucifer: Huh? What are you talking about? (Opens up the small box. Revealing a deep red apple seed with a mild golden glow)

Vaggie: A.... candied apple seed?

Lucifer: Not candied and not just any apple seed. This bad boy will be the catalyst for any baby making needs you two gals need.

Vaggie: (blushes) Say again?

Lucifer: This apple seed is imbued with both your and Charlie's essence. So, all you guys gotta do is have one of you (mimics a gulping motion and sound) gulp this little guy down, have a little romp in the sheets to activate it, and POOF!!! The ingestor gets pregnant. (Places the box in a dumbstruck Vaggie's hand) For when you girls are ready, of course.

Vaggie: (stares down at the box I her hand like it's a Carmine exclusive angelic steel bear trap as a million thoughts swirl through her mind) Uh... Thanks... Sir.

Lucifer: (puffs out his chest proudly) You're welcome! And it's Dad now, remember?

Charlie: There you two are! I've been looking for you everywhere! Oooh! What's that?

Lucifer: Hiya, Charlie! Just a little gift from me.

Charlie: (sparkling eyes) Oooooooh! Is that your famous candied apple seed? Vaggie, did you eat yours already? Dad usually makes them in pairs. (Picks up the seed and pops it into her mouth)

Vaggie: (Snaps out of her stupor) Charlie, Don't!

Charlie: *gulp* Hmm.... It tastes different than I remember.

Vaggie: (full body blushing and about to faint)

Lucifer: (gasping and squealing simultaneously as little glitter bombs explode around him, and he claps his hands together excitedly)

Charlie: ......Did I miss something?

So there’s been a leucistic raven around the area I live and they are giving me ideas. 

 Danny is having fun. He’s on vacation! Sort of. Look, the GIW can barely find ecto-animals, and apparently being a halfa means that once Amorpho helped him with shapeshifting, he was golden. Well not literally, apparently his form’s coloration is based on his hair. So. But even then, who expects a raven of all things to be stopping crimes? Or aiding them. Look, the plant-lady has the right idea and he thinks Sam would adore her. Er, as long as she doesn’t kill anyone that is. 

 And Clockwork even gave his approval to do some time shenanigans too! Apparently there’s some super-speed heroes who he’s getting frustrated with and he’s allowed to follow them back in time to mess with their own stumbling through the time stream. Or something, does he really care? No, he’s on vacation! 

 But his absolute favorite has to be this sad funky british man and this age-shifting magic boy. He of course brings them all the best gossip- and food for the kid. Look, just because he’s on vacation doesn’t mean he’s gonna’ be heartless. He remembers how it is as a teenage-hero and the kid is like, ten so. 

 Though he’s pretty sure Mr sad-trench coat dude knows he’s not a normal raven but it’s hilarious to hear him try to figure it out.

Read "Suki, Alone". Liked it in general. But can they please, please hire someone who knows both the show's actual events and how to follow through on a character arc? Because guys. Guys. That comic is not implying about Suki what they meant it to be implying, and all because of literally one line.

So like. From a writer's standpoint:

What they meant to do: show Suki as a community-oriented person who cares for her people, and believes in everyone succeeding together.

As opposed to (spoilers): the thief girl they set her up in contrast with, who's pretty upfront and consistent on primarily looking out for herself. She betrays Suki for one (1) corn chip to improve her own life at the prison, no surprise.

But the problem is: they give Suki an inspirational line to the effect of "we're all working together and we'll all break out together"

The thing she does not do in the show

So if both the show and this comic are canon, then instead of setting up a compare/contrast with the thief girl, they've just set up a comparison. One were Suki is arguably worse, because she's been leading a significant number of prisoners on with her "we'll all fight and win our freedom together!" business, only to straight up cut them out of the escape loop and abandon them, whereas the thief is only leading Suki on in the sense that Suki keeps telling her what it's morally correct to think and confuses snide replies with agreement

My dudes. My fellow writers. You people actually being paid for this. There were so many ways to fix those awful implications against our girl's character, the simplest of which would be to not include that line. Or they could have, you know, made it canon compliant with what actually happens in the show, so that this comic doesn't set Suki up as a betrayer instead of a community builder. Like... just send all her good prison buddies off to other prisons in the wake of the warden finding out they're colluding. Have it timed to be right before the next new prisoners arrive, thus setting it immediately before the Boiling Rock episodes, so Suki didn't have anyone left in the prison she'd want to take with her on a breakout. For bonus points, include a page or two of her and her Kyoshi warriors opening up the cell of one of her prison friends post-war, thus implying she's tracking down and actually fulfilling her promises. Maybe even show her doing the same with thief girl, who was established as being imprisoned on false charges anyway, and also showing that Suki is A) the bigger person, and B) willing to acknowledge her own role in mistakes (because I cannot emphasize enough how much thief girl was not hiding her own priorities, and it was Suki who approached HER with all this, not the girl ever doing anything special to weasel her way in) (this would also open up an opportunity for paralleling Suki's earlier in-comic mistake of not listening to one of her friend's very valid thoughts and feeling, which lead to the girl leaving their island alone pre-canon; a "seeing people as they are, not what you want them to be" moment)

Anyway yeah enjoyable enough for a quick read but another one for the "this can't be canon or the characters are So Much Worse than they were in the actual show" pile

At least Aang didn't promise to murder anyone in this one
