Common Food 🍋 Magical Properties
Lemon
Tumblr media
Purification, love, and friendship are just a few of the most popular uses for lemon in magical practices. As well as longevity. It’s most associated with summertime, and with its bright yellow color and summertime associations you’d think it’d also correspond with the sun, but it’s actual planetary correspondence is the moon.
🍋 You can add a slice of lemon to your moon water, to use for cleansing second hand items, charms and other objects.
🍋 Add a slice of lemon to tea being shared among friends to strengthen the bonds of friendship, or in a purification or cleansing tea.
🍋 Hang dried lemon slices to bring blessings and good luck into your home.
🍋 You can use lemon peels (and the flowers from lemon trees) in love spells; most notably in spells involving platonic love.
🍋 Add dried crushed lemon peels to any poppet for magic related to friendship, blessings, luck, happiness, and self love.
🍋 Add lemon to your bath during a full moon to help boost manifestation spells or rituals. You can also do this when making moon water too.
🍋 Use lemon seeds in spells intended to “grow” or manifest something related to love or friendship. Or in spells that you foresee will take a bit of time to manifest.
Lemon is also known for being high in vitamin C, which helps boost your immune system. It’s used in teas and elixirs to help fight against common colds and flu. It’s high in dietary fiber so it’s also known to help aid in healthy digestion. It’s high vitamin C content also helps promote a healthy heart and liver.
Whether you’re making tea, having a bath, or using poppet magic lemons can be used in a wide variety of ways from the mundane to the magical.

What is Magic?
“Magic is the ancient and absolute science of nature and her laws.” (A. L. Constant, The History of Magic, London 1922)Lets talk about a big question that many beginners want to know. “What is magic?” Many people like to rationalize magic as illusions, parlor tricks, sleight of hand or even fraud. Others dismiss magic as a supernatural fantasy for those who can’t accept “the reality of life”.…

Sometimes, there's no arguing with somebody. Either you believe in the inherent constituency of plants (aka - bitters be bitter, etc), or you don't.
It's sorta weird to argue against that but okay - I hope that works out for you. (Not being sarcastic - you should do the magic that makes sense to you ) I still stand by my point that all plants that share a certain type of energetics (here in my example: bitter) are going to have somewhat of a similar signature in a spell.
Even if for some reason, you don't have good taste buds and can't taste bitter.
Bitter is.
It is beyond us. That goes for things that make things dry versus things that make things wet. Or stimulants even if you have "unusual" brain chemistry that makes you not react to stimulants in the traditional way - stimulants still stimulate.
That's different from "lavender gives me a headache" or "I hate the taste of licorice because it makes me think of my grandpa who was horrid." We can have personal tastes and personal associations but that doesn't override the native energy of the plant. It is additive, not subtractive.
You shouldn't use lavender in a sleep spell if it gives you a headache or makes you nauseous, surely. But that doesn't mean that you should replace that with coffee (a stimulant and the energetic opposite of lavender) because "coffee makes YOU sleep". I do not recommend it. Can you do it? Obviously yes, you can put anything that you fucking want in a spell.
But is it likely to create your desired effect? I think not. I strongly suspect that it would lead to nervousness and long-term possibly insomnia - always waking up feeling unrested.
It's not just about what a plant (or other material) does, it is also about how it does it.

Dhattura (Jimsonweed),magical and other properties
The flowers of sacred Datura open near dusk and close again by midmorning. The large, fragrant white flowers attract night-flying pollinators, but even during the day a variety of insects can be seen in the flowers.
All parts of Datura plants contain dangerous levels of the tropane alkaloids atropine, hyoscyamine, and scopolamine, all of which are classified as deliriants, or anticholinergics.
Datura intoxication typically produces delirium, hallucination, hyperthermia, tachycardia, bizarre behavior, urinary retention, and severe mydriasis, with resultant painful photophobia that can last several days.
Across the Americas, indigenous peoples, such as the Algonquian, Aztecs, Navajo, Cherokee, Luiseño and the indigenous peoples of Marie-Galante used this plant or other Datura species in sacred ceremonies for its hallucinogenic properties.
The common name "datura" has its origins in India, where the sister species Datura metel is considered particularly sacred – believed to be a favorite of Shiva in Shaivism.
The plant is harvested when the fruits are ripe, but still green. To harvest, the entire plant is cut down, the leaves are stripped from the plant, and everything is left to dry. When the fruits begin to burst open, the seeds are harvested.
It was often responsible for the hallucinogenic effects of magical or lycanthropic salves and potions. During the witch-phobia craze in Early Modern times in England and parts of the colonial Northeastern United States, it was often considered unlucky or inappropriate to grow the plant in one's garden, as it was considered to be an aid to incantations.
element : water planet : Saturn nature : feminine
Leaves of the plant are used for banishing ,breaking spells, dream magic and dedication rituals.

Don Balsam ref I? I think?
Cant believe the mafia version got a “ref” before his actual one LOL.
Balsam has a powerful hand in the medical field in his part of the city and some parts outside it depending on alliances. If an unfamiliar subordinate ends up in one of "his" facilities, it's not uncommon to hear from a another boss or even a Don looking for "cures" for their family who got in a pretty bad tussle. Don Bal doesn't really show himself in public unless it's to visit his favorite diner—or his favorite waitress, and meet for business. People who know his practices well nicknamed him "The Doctor.”
