For the fluff prompt, may I please have Lucifer and "making funny faces behind the computer while the other one is in a boring Zoom meeting" with Mc being the other one???
It starts small.
The most insignificant of details that the eye won't catch at first glance, but the brain notices something is amiss.
For starters, the pair of spectacles Lucifer always dons is sitting on his desk. You swear he was wearing them just a moment before—your eyebrows furrow—but then you divert your attention back to the screen. The demon continues with his paperwork.
End semester projects require regular progress checks. Your group members are done informing the professor of their progress, now it is your turn to speak up.
"We are done with our research," You say, involuntarily straightening your posture. "We have encountered several problems while trying to know more about the economic practices of the Devildom in the year 1121. Astarion and I have gathered what we could find and compiled it in the document attached in our recent email to you."
"And what is to be done next?" The demon asks.
Magoth speaks up, and you take the moment to grab the bottle of water next to you. You open the cap and take a sip, eyes darting behind the screen.
"We have already verified it from—"
You choke on the liquid in your throat.
Several voices of concern chime in through your speakers as you hack and cough. Hurriedly wiping your mouth, you splutter and blurt out words of assurance. The talking resumes, and your brain can't believe what it saw.
Lucifer, pouting as he stares into his phone, the device outstretched in his left hand. Puckered lips and and all.
"Don't." You mouth the words at the demon, who smirks and raises an eyebrow in challenge.
"This project will be submitted by the end of next month," You pipe in, voice confident of your group's ability to meet deadlines. "There's a survey also planned for extra credit, and Astarion has already formulated the questions."
"Very good! Ah, that reminds me, I've made a new email id—please mail me your survey results on..............."
You make the mistake of glancing at Lucifer.
You have to resist the urge to smile after.
He's winking at you now, comically so, and the demon looks ridiculous.
You mute your mic, and let yourself giggle. "Lucifer," You whine, "I'm in a meeting!"
"Can't I have a little fun now and then?" He says, picking up his pen again. "Besides, you should be focused on the meeting, and not on external variables."
You glare at the demon.
"MC?" Magoth chimes. "Are you trying to say something? Your mic's on mute."
You force yourself to make a polite smile. "Everything's alright! Just a little disturbance. Please, carry on."
You lean back on your chair. The sound of pen scribbling on paper makes for a suitable background noise, and you finally focus on the meeting being held.
You assume the demon has finally calmed down on his rare antics.
Progress is made, conclusions revised, and the meeting is wrapped up in the next twenty minutes.
You close your laptop after, and nearly jump in your seat.
Because there is Lucifer, eyebrows furrowed and a hand grabbing his chin. Lower lip being bitten by his teeth.
This time, you let yourself laugh freely.

Yesterday during class I was reading the Greek Alexander Romance and read a passage where he traps the tribes of Goth and Magoth behind 2 mountains (borrowed from the Quranic tale of Dhul Qarnayn trapping Yajuj and Majuj behind a wall) but it got me thinking as a thought experiment about a God less naturalistic explanation for reality which although overall does not make sense and removes the foundational basis of reality, is still an interesting theory to think on.
Although I brushed the thought away, later in the day I had a personal living experience with The Reality that is God and it made me think upon the profound impact of personal experience that most believers do experience.
However where a thousand arguments could not convince Dawkins, a slew of miracles could not sway Pharaoh, yet millions believe without either. Which makes me think belief is a gift that God scatters among souls and one should be thankful to be a believer. Sounding very calvinist in this realisation but it does seem to be what it comes down to, neither personal experience nor rational argument but Divine Grace.

When the worst person is right:
For anyone who doesn’t know / remember, Alberto Gonzales was the attorney general who approved waterboarding, warrantless surveillance, and the firing of DA’s who refused to participate in politically motivated cases.
He goes up there with Harris endorsements like Dick Cheney. People who are so terrible that you kinda have to take a breath and reevaluate just how bad Trump has to be for these… former president administrators to switch sides.
It’s like the Demon lords Astaroth, Magoth, Asmodee, Beelzebub, Oriens, Paimon, Ariton, and Amaymon coming out to say look, we’re great supporters of Hell, we’ve always been for the greatest evil. We’ve even benefited greatly from our selfishness and devotion to destruction. But this guy… Look, Satan was a great guy, the best guy, and that’s why he was Devil. Like us. But just because Leviathan SAYS he’s a Devil doesn’t make him one. You can’t just fall in line. This guy, Leviathan, he’s a monster. He’s going to destroy everything Hell stands for. That’s why I’m supporting the Angel Remiel for Satan this epoch.
Like, WTF worst timeline is this????

Today I’m working on part of my world building book about The Undying Children, aka the Maiur.
If you’re a fan of Lord of the Rings (esp The Silmarillion), you’ll recognize the similarity between Maia and Maiur, which is no coincidence. Tolkien’s Maia, who are wizards like Gandalf and Saruman, are angel-like divine beings who exist (at least) from the moment that Ainu begins to sing the world. (*I might be getting names/details wrong, I don’t have the Silmarillion on hand atm.)
I adore the vast, pulsing, mythic cosmogony of The Silmarillion, and there was absolutely space in my own cosmogony for that class of divinity. It is typical for religious myth to echo the hierarchies of originating societies. You do not just have God and then People (king and people); you will generally see that there are deities or divinities in myth which serve as the court, advisors, vassals, etc.
In my cosmogony, the creation of the world parallels orgasmic child birth. Maiur came from the initial cries of the All-Mother as she went into labor/cried with pleasure. They were sung into existence, you might say. They have witnessed the All-Mother’s every living moments.
In “modern” day, Maiur are living on sea-towers. Which are like wizard towers from traditional fantasy, but you know, floating on the ocean. Maiur are the only creatures who can traverse the oceans. Chaos has frothed the waters and divided the continents. These sea-towers are immune to such forces. Because of this, and the Maiurs’ unique ability of unlimited transmutation, they are significant political figures who meddle frequently. Aesthetically, you may expect Maiur to look like wealthy pirates. 🙂
Here is some of one page out of my appendix about them~
~~~
The All-Mother sang a wordless song, forming sounds by shaping her mouth and vocalizing. The melodies danced and twirled and grew limbs from the consonants while vowels gave them breath. She sang twelve lines between three verses. It took six thousand vetone to complete the song.
First Verse
Ah-Sa-To: Scetta, the yielding.
Do-Ve-Ra: Osse, the wondering.
Ah-Do-Ra: Haern, the knowing.
Ah-Me-Do: Sturmgar, the grand.
Second Verse
Ah-Do Ah-Do: Agor, the forgotten.
Sa-To-Ra-Ne-Me-Ta: Brynulf, the broken
Do-Ra Do-Me No: Melian, the wistful.
Me-Ra Ra-Do-Ve-Sa-To: Arien, the lustful.
Final Verse
Ah-Ah Do-Ra-Do: Geldur, the wise.
Do-To-Ah-Ra Ne-Me-Ta: Miron, the blessed.
Ah-Me Ah-Do Do-Ve-Ra: Magoth, the cursed.
Ah-Do-Ra-Ah: Krysthon, the end.
