Bones, are there any Bisexual character in your AU? I myself, am a proud bisexual who NEEDS MORE BISEXUAL CHARACTERS IN MEDIA! I headcannon Bluestar as being bi and Leafpool as well! Mothwing is DEFINITELY a Lesbian!! MOTHPOOL FOREVER! HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!!!!!!!!!🌈
I approach bisexuality as a default! Cats who lean towards certain genders are the exception, not the rule. I just write it being totally standard to feel attraction to whoever.
So I try to make an effort to show it in the story, by having cats visibly display it. I crave media that has bisexual people who act on that attraction as more than offhanded background lines, if that makes sense
Characters who are shown being bisexual;
Ivypool. Dates Blossomfall, has a pretty massive breakup, marries the ex-kittypet Fernsong.
Dovewing. Dates Bumblestripe, ends up with tiny wife Heartstar.
Brushblaze. Joined WindClan over how smitten he was with Onewhisker; eventually ended up with his Honor Dam Whitetail, and fathered Heathertail's half-siblings, Galerunner and Smokehaze.
Onewhisker. The iconic bisexual disaster. Of course. Brushblaze, Firestar, Smoke, Whitetail... they were all items at one point.
On that note, Firestar is aromantic but not ace.
Harestar, Breezepelt, Heathertail. They're married together.
Violetshine, Tree, Dragonfly. Also married to each other.
Leafstar. Husband Billystorm, girlfriend Echosong.
Bramblestar. Yes. The worst person you know is bi. He was in love with Stormfur during the journey and I do imagine he has at least a little bit of a thing for Spiderleg after he retires.
Squirrelflight also, though. Likewise I imagine she feels something for Daisy, but always has other things on her mind. I ideate about them ending up together in a peaceful moment after TBC and quietly being together in the latest arc
Also Nightmare Exes being contrasted with Dream Exes is VERY funny to me
Reedwhisker is still pining for Hawkfrost, but he did happily sire Duskfur's kits for her and took care of her. I think he would have been able to love her more fully if he wasn't constantly missing Hawk, he's had a lot of grief in his life.
Crowfeather made Leafpool feel loved and important for a while, and she thought he was hot, but god she regretted it after a few weeks and doesn't know what she saw in him
Bluestar had a LOT going on, but I wax poetic about her too much. She's a whole rainbow. This girl's pride flag is shrimp colors.
And this is all in addition to cats who casually talk about how attractive other cats are, how they'd consider relationships with them, but end up with one permanent romance.
So yeah there's a lot of bi cats, listing them is moot because if I don't explicitly state they heavily skew to one gender (Hollyleaf for example), I am writing them as bi-default.

Marcy brought her switch to Amphibia and kept being the clumsiest motherfucking woman alive but stopped using it when she saw Anne because she didn't want to get lectured

On some observations
(wrt my mothpool post because I’ve been paying more attention to fandom at large to observe the Onestar nonsense)
[Link to TLDR]
I think it’s very telling how pretty much everyone seems to have interpreted the simple statement “mothpool has an age gap” as “you shouldn’t ship mothpool.”
The reality of life is that most relationships have an age gap. Even excusing the fact that people exceptionally rarely date people with the same birthday as them, it’s common to date people who are more than a year or two older/younger than you. I suppose I can blame this one on this particular fandom skewing young? As in, most people in high school date people within a grade of them. It’s rare for a freshman to date a junior, and pretty much everyone agrees freshmen shouldn’t be dating seniors. So I suppose it makes sense to apply that logic.
I bring up Mothpool sometimes because it’s such a popular ship, but it has a larger age gap than, say, Feather/Crow, a ship which is often aggressively disavowed in more puritanical communities, explicitly on the grounds of the age gap. I have my complaints with that criticism of the ship, but my point remains: that age gap is likely around nine moons — using the fact that Crow is Deadfoot’s son, and Feather is supposedly around 7 moons old when Deadfoot dies, the first fact being present in TNP itself and the second being explicit in TPB — and they meet when Crowpaw is nearly a warrior — again, see the prologue of Midnight — so it would be hypocritical to dislike that ship for age gap reasons, and yet ship Mothpool, which has a minimum age gap of nine moons*, although likely more, and meets when Leafpaw is no more than seven moons old.
*Complicated by contradictory timelines. Using only TNP, we would infer an age gap of six moons, but that’s impossible because of when Tigerstar dies. Really, Mothwing has to be a year older than Leafpaw. The time skip between TPB and TNP is either a year or six months, and both options create major contradictions, but the series treats it as a full year. I used nine months as my stated minimum because if I let Mothwing be born around the same time as Crowpaw — she’s technically older — then they’re both approximately warrior aged, and both have the same impossible age problem, which feels appropriate. At any rate, even if you use the six month age gap, it is subjectively experienced as a larger age gap, because Leafpaw is younger than Crowpaw. Furthermore, the same age gap between Mothwing and Leafpaw exists between Leafpaw(/Squirrelpaw) and Crowpaw, which is again, the same as the age gap between Crowpaw and Feathertail, but experienced as a larger age gap because the characters involved are younger.
I think the fact that the simple statement of truth that such an age gap exists causes so much strife is telling because…well, I never intended to even imply that it’s an unhealthy relationship because of said age gap. I would argue against that quite effectively by pointing out that they’re both new (med) apprentices when they meet, putting them on equal footing, and they’re in different clans, which basically nullifies the power imbalance of an age gap. Leafpaw’s crush begins young, but they don’t grow close until Leafpaw is older, and that’s when you begin to get the sense that things are reciprocated and romantic…
…statements which are all also true for Feathertail and Crowpaw.
(Arguably, Feathertail shows less interest in Crowpaw than Mothwing does in Leafpaw.)
So really the only defense to “there is an age gap between Mothwing and Leafpool” is “no, there isn’t,” because any other argument would be applied to other ships that have been disavowed.
Not that I think anyone is doing this consciously. I’ve just been turning it over and over in my head: why are some ships criticized heavily for their age gap, and others ignored?
Someone once commented that they wouldn’t date someone who was nearly 18. I, being in my 20s, agree with that — mostly because I wouldn’t date someone who was still in high school.
But would I date someone who had already graduated high school, and was maybe in their first semester of college, but because of birthday nonsense, hadn’t yet turned 18? Provided they were, again, nearly 18 — probably? There’s nothing magic that happens on someone’s 18th birthday that makes them an adult when they weren’t before.
Crowpaw might not have “graduated,” because he still hasn’t got a warrior name, but he’s canonically very nearly a warrior, and implicitly over a year old (again, see prologue of TNP + reference when Deadfoot died with when the journey begins). He spends months with Feathertail — the length of the journey is unclear, but looking at the events timeline makes me think it took them a full season — and they meet as equals (prophecy cats). The fact that this ship is considered unhealthy, but Mothpool isn’t (when Leafpaw comments frequently that she’s nervous Mothwing, having her full name, doesn’t view Leafpaw as an equal), says to me that there’s some secondary, unstated factor.
I leave it as an exercise to the reader to determine that factor, but if you need a hint: I’ve seen multiple people criticize the Bramble/Squirrel age gap also ship Squirrel/Tawny.
[Discussion welcome.]

Overly complicated Ashstar Au: Part 1
(Spans over TNP, PO3, TBC. In this I don’t think OOTS would happen since the conflict is changed and AVOS would happen but in a shorter span of time, in like a super edition or short series)
Inspired a lot by @lockandkeyhyena ‘s au! Go check him out he’s making a animatic currently and it looks awesome for his ashstar au. Part 2 here!
Bramble becomes deputy of TC like in canon, he and Squirrel are mates but problems ofc are there bc he doesn’t like Ashfur and he’s her friend. But Squirrel doesn’t trust Hawkfrost and Bramble is being a little pissy boy about it, punishing her a lot. Very toxic already. (For technicality’s sake I’m saying he trained Whitepaw while Ash trained Birchpaw)
While Ash is now dating Hawk he does still have this attachment to Squirrel. And definitely hates seeing how Bramble treats her.
Hawkfrost crafts his plan to test his brother, either he kills Firestar or he betrays him and if he does then Ash is to leap from the bushes behind him and knock him out. What they get planned for was Brambleclaw attacking Hawkfrost. Caught in surprise he couldn’t roll out of the way of the stake going through his chest. Ashfur is horrified and leap out, but he has to act fast so he rescues Firestar who was coming back from receiving his life and told him that Bramble was working with Hawkfrost to kill him and become leader just like Tigerstar did! Fire is shocked but remembers Tigerclaw doing the same to Bluestar so long ago so he denounces Brambleclaw as deputy and makes Ashfur his deputy instead.
Squirrelflight is obviously horrified, she suspected Hawk of being untrustworthy but never her own mate. She breaks up with him and cries to Ash about it, who can’t help but love that he’s the one she turned to. Though ever beat of his heart reminds him of Hawkfrost. He felt this airy love and warmth with him. His hatred to Bramble is solidified even more. Now Brambleclaw is treated as a cat in their clan, not a clanmate but just there. And Ash makes sure to make his life even harder by giving him many unwanted chores, keeping him away from Squilf, and always making him do Dawn and Dusk patrols.
A bit after this and still reeling from the shock of her ex mate trying to kill her father she agrees to go with Leafpool, and immediately takes in the three for her. When she returns she never states who their sire is, some believing it’s most likely Brambleclaw and she just didn’t want to associate him with her kits. But Ash, looking at the small gray spotty tom with soft blue eyes can’t help but wonder what if their his? Immediately he feels unsure but keeps up the act of a uncle figure to them, helping out when Leaf isn’t there since she’s always so cold to him.
Squirrelflight asks her dad to make one of them apprenticed to Ashfur, a gesture by her to show she cares a lot about him helping her raise the kits (tho it’s purely platonic on her end). As such he gets Lionpaw, the overly ambitious, quick to act, and roaringly loud young cat just as his namesake. While he does try to be a good mentor Lionpaw is a handful and he gets real tired of the guy, sometimes being a bit too harsh though he tries to be nice. He does notice the toms fighting skill and learns that battle training is the best way to keep him interested.
Then he overhears it, walking back to drop off his squirrel and take a nap, he hears whispering form the healer den. Curious he gets closer and sneaks forward to hear. Inside Squilf and Leaf are talking in hushed voices about the three. “We should tell them Leaf it’s not right to keep them in the dark! Plus their almost warriors.” He hears in a anxious tone from Squilf though Leaf’s reply was sharper and clearly a no “Squirrel if anyone finds out who really fathered them I’ll lose everything, they’ll hate us don’t you know? Their whole world would break if they knew!”
He jumps back and drops off the squirrel, shaking the bristling down his spine and trying to stay cool. Too emotional he takes a walk instead, going down to the lake to think. Ash knows they aren’t his now. The little hope of a life after feels like it was shattered. All he can feel is the anger bc if he’s not the sire to them, then their Brambles. The cat who killed his mate here at the lake and hurt Squirrel. Sorry excuse of a mate for her at all when they were together. She chose him? Anger fuels him and he wants vengeance. He would make them feel the pain he did at losing everyone around him.
(For note, no Squirrel never “chose” Brambleclaw over him this is deluded thinking that she is his and any relation to him would be cheating. She didn’t and she is completely innocent just trapped in the crosshairs of two horrible nasty guys who like to control her)
He gets a flaming branch, one he found while checking camp after it was struck by lightning and brought it to a bramble bush near camp, where he tossed it to start the fire. He plays up being the deputy by helping everyone out, going in to ‘save’ the remaining cats who he knows are just Squirrel, the three, and Bramble.
There it is. The three trapped, Squirrel having trouble to push the branch to them. He helps but before they reach the other side he pushes it over, hanging them over the fire on this teetering branch, any moment able to catch on fire and crash them into the fiery flames below. Squirrel shrieks “What are you doing?!” And he just scoffs as he hold the branch steady. She can’t push him away or he’ll lose his grip and the branch will fall along with the three shaking cats she called her kits.
He screams his feelings out. He hated them. He hated her. But most of all he hated the blood that ran through them from their monstrous father. He’s about to lift his paw and let them plummet but Squirrel says the truth. They aren’t her kits. They aren’t Bramble’s most definitely. She took them in because their mother couldn’t. She raised them as her own but she wasn’t the one to kit them. The three are shocked, Ash is surprised. But he can’t let them die now. They don’t deserve that. They didn’t lie or share any blood with the cat who murdered his mate. And they just learned their mom wasn’t even their blood mother. He lets them over, Lionpaw saving Squirrel from a branch as they fled that tried to fall on her but they all make it out with few burns.
None of them speak of what happens as he crafts his plan to hurt the one who really deserved it, not some kits who were innocent of it all. He’s at the river, staring at its moonlit reflection. Memories of laying on his mates back as they floated on the waters surface (like otters), the bright eyes his frosty eyes look at him. He’s swirling his paws in the light when paws slam into his back, pushing him into its depths. He can’t breathe. The waters filling his lungs. But he wasn’t weak, pushing up he launches the cat off his back but they quickly bounce back to finish him off. They wrestle, the only discernible feature of his attacker being hostile glowing green eyes. He’s pinned as claws sink into his throat. He’s about to die. But he can’t yet. No matter how much he missed Hawk he couldn’t see him till he fulfilled what they couldn’t.
“I know who your parents are! I know who really kitted you!”

It seems Holly is the Stephanie of the Moral Orel AU, right? I'm really curious about her in this AU, so please share anything you wish about her!
I'm also curious, is there a character who acts as a Danielle Stopframe to Bramblestars Clay Puppington?
ashfur takes the role of danielle!!! in the books bramble and ash are known as really close friends so that's why many people ship them lol
i like to headcanon ashfur having a crush on bramble, but after bramble shows no interest in him he gets obsessed with making squilf suffer, and eventually even forgets about him having a crush on bramble in the first place.
ashfur does alot of stalking on squilf and eventually learns the truth with the three, and threatens to reveal it if she doesn't divorce bramble. squilf obv doesn't wanna divorce bramble so hollyleaf hearing this convo kills ashfur before he can do anything
after that she runs away to sinville and starts to live with fallen leaves. after some while and with the advice of fallen leaves hollyleaf visits moralton because shes homesick. she tries to not make anyone recognize her but squilf sees a glimpse of her before she enters the sinville bus at the station.
after this squilf visits sinville to see holly, and tries to convince her to come back (in her visit in sinville she also meets moonlight) holly decides to move back to moralton in secret and starts to work in the erotic shop, she learns from mothwing (who is very close with leafpool) that if shes leafpool's kit than crowfeather might be her father. eager to meet a new family member she introduces herself to him (crow had no idea that leaf actually had the kits) and the two eventually start to bond!! (also holly gives him dating advice lol)

warriors: the new prophecy #3: dawn
date started: 21/01/2023 | date finished: 03/02/2023
how are all these cats so rude like, brambleclaw having a go at hawkfrost for not being clan born meanwhile they share a horrible father. any sort of superiority they think they have, they always use it to talk badly of other cats for their circumstances. which like, being born a kittypet, or rogue is not all too bad. firestar and cloudtail turned out fine, russetfur was a rogue, i think there were some bloodclan members and rogues that joined shadowclan.
how can he have respect for firestar, who was born outside of the clans, but also insult other cats for the very same fact.
and almost every cat does it, throughout the entire series.
spottedleaf is here again!!! no more, why can’t it be another medicine cat coming to them in their dreams. yellowfang exists, or bluestar, whitestorm, lionheart, redtail. there’s many thunderclan starclan cats to choose from to send messages to the living, but it’s always spottedleaf because she’s just so nice!
like she is in love with leafpaw and squirrelpaw’s father and interferes with his love life and upsets sandstorm (who barely talks in this book despite her kits taking up the entire pov of the books). something about it being her talking to them is so icky. i think she literally mentions to leafpaw about how they could have been her kits if she wasn’t a medicine cat? it’s so creepy, leave them alone. it should be yellowfang, who literally saw firestar as her son and it would be fitting that she cares for firestar’s kits. oh well!!
and instead of the psychic powers that link squirrelpaw and leafpaw being the way that squirrelpaw finds out where leafpaw is, it’s of course, a dream featuring my least favourite, spottedleaf. get out of here!!!!
graystripe gets captured and brambleclaw orders everyone to run away. immediately after thunderclan’s deputy is catnapped, leafpaw notices how different brambleclaw is “an experienced, confident warrior, calmly issuing commands in spite of the huge danger they were all in”
i guess if i hadn’t read it already i wouldn’t notice how obvious it is that they are hinting at brambleclaw being graystripe’s replacement
is this how squirrelpaw and brambleclaw start to fall out? by her discovering hawkfrost is his half brother and thinking he has evil ambitions like tigerstar? because i know brambleclaw becomes closer with hawkfrost eventually and squirrelpaw must not trust him and encourages brambleclaw to distance himself from hawkfrost? i think that’s how the brambleclaw, squirrelflight, ashfur drama must start. because i don’t remember it, but i’m calling it now from reading the beginning of chapter 11. i hope i can come back and write that i was right about it!
sunnyfall noted that because the writer this time was kate cary rather than cherith baldry, there’s different character dynamics. like mothwing and leafpool not being as close (sad), mothwing and hawkfrost getting along better because hawkfrost is less aggressive, stormfur doesn’t have a crush on squirrelpaw (thank goodness), and leafpaw and squirrelpaw don’t have a psychic connection to each other.
i was sitting here wondering, now what the hell does “a dying warrior will guide the way” mean, a living clan cat will start to die and then show them the way, a starclan cat will come to talk to them? no a shooting star. that makes much more sense but i would have also never guessed it. it’s quite a minor point in the book so i don’t blame myself for not remembering it.
i had forgotten that crowpaw asks tallstar that his warrior name be in memory of feathertail, i like it. he’s lucky that his prefix works with the suffix “feather”. it’s a nice name. although i’m sure the authors did plan his name from the beginning.
i’m sad that stormfur feels like he’s lost everything in the clans that ties him to them. he has lost his mother, sister, father, and even his mentor. i guess his closest relationship left would be mistyfoot. it feels a little weird that everyone related to graystripe has been taken away from the clans. of course i know graystripe comes back later. i don’t even like graystripe that much because he’s hot headed and annoying, but his kits and their relationship to bluestar’s kits and her story are something i really like about the first arc. plus stonefur’s death was horrible and i feel bad that mistyfoot’s family is all gone. like blackclaw is her mate and is mentioned in the allegiances but like, she had kits last arc and none of her kits are mentioned as warriors or apprentices in this book. according to the wiki, reedwhisker is mentioned in moonrise, but won’t appear again until twilight. poor mistyfoot, the rest of her kits don’t live into adulthood and reedwhisker is not even mentioned in books that he’s supposed to be alive in. maybe he’s mentioned in the actual chapters of the books, but there’s too many cats from other clans in this book to remember who’s there and who isn’t.
like throughout the entirety of the journey from the forest to the lake, i obviously know that mousefur is a character, she’s alive, she even has an apprentice. but she isn’t mentioned at all. illustrations to accompany the chapters would be cool, that way, even without being mentioned, you could look at the illustrations and go “ooh that’s mousefur, and her apprentice spiderpaw!” even cloudtail and brightheart aren’t mentioned after they are rescued from the humans.

This started as me trying to think of something to write for a KestrelJay fic, but thanks to @mallowstep enabling me it became a full-on Po3 + OotS AU. I present to you: Po3 + OotS but the powers don’t come with a prophecy attached AU. Alternatively: Po3 + OotS but Jayfeather willingly became a medicine cat out of delusions of grandeur.
The only reason I’m deleting the dark forest part of the conflict is so I can use the powers but still have this AU be about an entirely new interpersonal conflict that doesn’t cross over with that whole thing
Jaykit figures out very early on about his dream powers, using it to hop across the dreams of his littermates and others in the nursery. Growing up he hears lots of stories about dreams and prophecies and medicine cats and the rest, so naturally he gets really excited about this special power and gets it into his head that he’s destined to be the next medicine cat.
(He can’t see in dreams on this one. He knows he’s actually dream hopping and not just dreaming of the others in the nursery because he’s very insistent about asking others what they dreamed about. The other kits are impressed but no adult gives him the time of day with it.)
Hollykit, ambitious little furball that she is, also gets it into her head that she’s going to be the next medicine cat. When playing in the nursery, the arguments about it are endless.
Lionkit’s concerned because if both his siblings become medicine cat apprentices, does that mean he’s gonna have to put up with that meanie Berrypaw all on his own? 3:
As they approach apprenticing age, Leafpool notices the two siblings are very much serious about wanting to be her apprentice. It’s at this time that Jaykit starts to brag about his dream hopping ability as if that’s going to guarantee him the position. Hollykit, meanwhile, is trying to help however she can.
Leafpool very much thinks Hollykit would make a better apprentice, she sounds much more helpful to have around and she thinks someone should really check Jaykit’s growing ego.
The day of their apprentice ceremony comes and Jaypaw is fucking pissed, like in canon Lionpaw goes to Ashfur, Hollypaw to Leafpool, and him to Brightheart.
Brightheart and Longtail are really trying to be helpful and encouraging here. Longtail even sort of came out of retirement just so he could assist them outside camp. But Jaypaw’s just being a brat and it makes all three miserable. He won’t listen to instructions, he rushes everything just so he can go pester Leafpool, when out on patrol he will try to sneak away, he is very rude to them, etc.
Lionpaw tries to be a supportive brother, trying to give Jaypaw encouragement and tips, reassuring him that he can grow up to be a great warrior, convincing Ashfur to let them train together, and so much more but he’s just met with the same scorn and aggression that Jaypaw has for Brightheart and Longtail. Doesn’t help matters that Lionpaw is just good at this, reinforcing Jaypaw’s belief that this is not his special destiny.
Hollypaw is trying her best, but like in canon she just struggles a lot with memorizing and identifying herbs and of course being grossed out by actually treating injuries. She also tries to extend an olive branch to Jaypaw, only to be met with scorn and particularly harsh insults. He also tries to butt in whenever he has the chance. Leafpool’s getting really fed up with all this.
This whole thing lasts for like a moon to a moon and a half and the whole of ThunderClan camp just doesn’t have the energy to deal with Jaypaw anymore. The general stress and just in general being so worn out give Jaypaw the perfect in to enter Leafpool’s usually more tightly guarded mind. She originally thinks the little brat has just been so annoying she ended up dreaming of him but when he turns up the next day and recites her whole dream to her, she sighs in defeat.
She’s perfectly aware that she shouldn’t reward him for wearing her down, but this has gone on long enough. She’s seen Hollypaw and she knows it would be better for her to swap mentors now. And if StarClan has given Jaypaw this power, she’s not about to go trying to prevent his destiny. She knows better than to piss them off.
Jaypaw is an immature, smug little shit about this whole thing, and Leafpool knows she has her work cut out for her in regards to nipping that in the bud. At the very least he’s obedient now and very eager to make up for lost time.
Their first night on the apprentice’s den, Hollypaw and Lionpaw begin to bond over complaining about their dickhead brother. It’s extremely cathartic and even though they’re keeping everyone else up they don’t mind either. They needed that release as well.
Hollypaw quickly learns that Lionpaw is very good at this warrior thing, way better than she’d expect with how behind she is. They figure out Lionpaw’s got a power as well, and while Hollypaw’s initially concerned he will turn out a dickhead as well, the experience of Jaypaw keeps Lionpaw humble. At least when not around Berrypaw.
It’s Jaypaw’s first half moon gathering and he can’t help but bounce with excitement. He’s excited to meet everyone and share tongues with StarClan and to be announced officially as Leafpool’s apprentice and all the rest. As they meet the others he finds that the other two apprentices are not being as friendly as he’d expected. Willowpaw is downright angry at him for costing her a friend, while Kestrelpaw is polite but distant. They’ve both been warned of him and seeing them both act so coldly really hurts Jaypaw.
(While all of this is happening, LionBerry is going through a rivals to lovers arc in the background. And of course we all know Hollypaw is massively gay for Willowpaw.)
Jaypaw is really lost on what to do. He wants to make friends with the other medicine cat apprentices, but he’s just not got the social skills for this. He thinks invading their privacy in dreams is a good idea, kind of forgetting everyone and their mother know of his power and that most people find that creepy.
It takes a while, but seeing his desperation to make friends, Kestrelpaw starts to open up and Jaypaw is massively emotional about it. They bond as friends and over time they get Willowpaw to also open up. The three become really close friends and they encourage Jaypaw to fix his relationship with his siblings.
When Hollyleaf and Lionblaze get their full names, Jaypaw starts to reach out to them. They’ve seen Jaypaw becoming more humble and minding his own business over time, so they’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But it still takes time for their relationship to be repaired.
Willowshine and Kestrelflight earn their full names and Jaypaw couldn’t be more proud of his friends. Him and Kestrelflight begin to date (using those handy-dandy dream powers they don’t even have to meet physically!) and he starts to relay messages between Willowshine and Hollyleaf.
It’s around this time that Flamepaw, the token straight of the medicine cat gang, shows up. He’s basically the reverse of that whole “Everyone has a gay cousin and if you don’t it’s you” thing, which becomes really apparent with how his gay cousins dominate the conversation at all the half moon gatherings.
(For the sake of the joke, his siblings are bi. He only learns this after telling them about how gay the half moon meetings are.)
When Jaypaw earns his full name, Leafpool names him Jaystorm because of how much of a handful he was as an apprentice and as a reminder to not fall back on those old behavior patterns.
Jaystorm announcing his full name to his siblings and showing healthy pride in his accomplishment is basically the end of his arc regarding repairing his relationships. They’re now all equals in the eyes of the clan and they get along pretty well. They’re his preferred escorts whenever he has to go out of camp and they’re glad to spend more time with him.
Fast forward to the time of OotS, Jaystorm notices fairly early on the signs that Dovekit also seems to have special powers and begins making plans to ensure she and Ivykit aren’t driven apart by ego and jealousy like he and his littermates were
Dovekit, thankfully, starts showing interest in becoming a medicine cat while Ivykit doesn’t. Come their apprentice ceremony, Jaystorm maneuvers to have himself be named the official mentor of Dovepaw and Hollyleaf the mentor of Ivypaw.
(Leafpool’s still around or something. I deliberately also omitted the fire scene and the parentage reveal drama. But she’s just not a character I’m interested in and sidelining her is for the good of the story.)
Having someone with partial medicine cat training mentoring Ivypaw means Jaystorm can very easily make an excuse to have her as part of his escort when herb gathering. Ivypaw, of course, complains endlessly about it, but she finds it nice to have time to spend with Dovepaw.
Under the guidance of the three, Dovewing and Ivypool grow up to be well adjusted adults who deal with the whole powers thing very maturely. All five of them are very close to each other, to the point the three almost consider those two as honorary little sisters.
(It’s fine, Cinderheart ends up having Fernsong with a completely unrelated tom. Lionblaze is too focused on his husband Berrynose to have eyes for anyone else. It fixes the incest, even.)

Longstar AU plotpoints
For @blupple-pie, who requested more Longstar AU!  Thanks for the interest!
First off, the name changes for reference!
Longtail = Longstar
Princess = Flamewish
Tiny/Scourge = Frostfoot
Squirrelflight = Foxflight
Leafpool = Swiftpool
Snowkit = Snowthorn
Mistlekit = Mistlenose
Shrewpaw = Shrewleg
Lionblaze = Lionblossom
Jayfeather = Jaywhisker
Hollyleaf = Hollywish
Ivypool = Ivyleaf
And original Characters Flyshadow and Coldlight, kits that are claimed by Frostfoot as his own, but it’s unknown if he fathered them.  But he’s absolutely their dad, no matter the blood.
So I played very loose and free with the timeline, because a) it’s been a while since I read the original and b) I didn’t care, I just wanted to have fun!
Anyways, here’s the major plot points!
Wishkit survives and is found in the woods by some wandering humans who nurse her back to health, and rename her Nutmeg.  She falls for Jake, and has her litter.
The encounter with Tiny, Thistleclaw, Bluefur, and Tigerclaw goes as canon up to a point, but Tigerpaw hurts Tiny badly enough that Bluefur brings him back to Thunderclan.  He's in the Medicine cat den healing up, and bonds with Spottedpaw/leaf (I can’t remember how old she is) and eventually, he sees there’s something wrong.  After some coaxing, and talking with Bluefur (who’s starting to see Tiny as a surrogate son), she spills the beans about Thistleclaw, and hoo boy does he get permabanished reeeaalll fast, pretty much leaves a cat-shaped dust cloud.  Tiny becomes Frostpaw, and Tigerpaw gets mentored by uhhh Bluefur or Thrushpelt.  Then canon continues until...
The fight between Longtail and Rusty!  They’re fighting and Rusty’s pinned when out of left field WHAM!  Princess, who is a Concerned Sibling, sees Kitty Fight Club and her precious sibling getting walloped and absolutely Y E E T S Longtail off her bro.  Bluestar is thankfully impressed she snuck up on camp, and can toss a full-grown warrior like a leaf in a strong breeze, and decides to induct them both into Thunderclan.  Now Firepaw, seeing as he’s had some weird dreams, become’s Spottedleaf’s apprentice, and Flamepaw becomes Bluestar’s.  Canon continues, with character swaps and more apprentice interactions until...
Yellowfang!  See, Fireheart looks identical to Wishkit, except for his pelt, and Flamewish has her pelt.  So when Yellowfang tackles Firepaw while he gathers herbs, she has an emotional flashback, and cut to Firepaw bringing a traumatized old lady back home, Bluestar can I keep her?  Canon continues until...
The death of Lionheart...Longtail heroically throws himself into battle, and is named Deputy, to his and almost everyone’s surprise.  Tigerclaw does try to kill Bluestar later, but it’s both Longtail and Flamewish that confront him.  Longtail knocks him off her, and Flamewish yeets him out of the den.  Canon continues until...
Snowkit!  The hawk swoops but is intercepted by a pissed off Speckletail and Brackenfur, saving his life but at the cost of crippling Speckletail and sending her to the elder’s den when Snowkit and Mistlekit become apprentices.  Canon continues until...
Cloudkit!  So Flamewish wanders off to Two-leg place and comes back pregnant!  Whoops!  So Flamewish becomes nursery bound, and befriends Brindleface, who agrees to nurse Cloudkit, who becomes like a sibling to Fernkit, Ashkit, Flykit, and Coldkit.  Canon continues until...
Tigerstar attacking Windclan!  His attack on Gorsepaw appears to kill the apprentice, but after the attackers leave, he wobbles his head up like “Ha! Gottem!  I need a doctor!”  His injuries are substantial, but he survives, losing some hearing and walking with a severe limp, but compensating with keen vision and smell, and sharp tactical skills.  He later becomes Gorseflicker, then eventually Gorsestar!  Canon continues until...
At some point before Bloodclan shows up, but after the Dogs attack, Longtail, just promoted to Longstar, and Flamewish have a Feelings Jam and start cat-dating. She’s glad he didn’t make her Deputy, and likes Whitestorm for it. And somewhere in there, Frostfoot brings in two kits he claims are his now.  He found them, finders keepers. Canon continues until...
Bloodclan emerges!  But it’s not Scourge obviously, but a familiar face with a new name - Thistleclaw to Tyrant!  When Tigerclaw is revealed to have killed Bluestar, Tyrant whips around and uses his cat-openers on his former apprentice, insta-killing him on the spot.  The warning is given, the Battle happens, and a few new things happen as well!
Whitestorm gets pinned by Bone, but the Apprentice Squad, with Flypaw and Coldpaw, knock him over and destroy his stupid face.  Graystripe defends Fireheart, still his best friend, from Darkstripe, but Darkstripe survives and limps off after the battle, with the ghost of Tigerstar whispering in his ear.
And that’s the first part!  Next up, the appearance of Darktail/Darkmoon, the Journey, and the Three!  Stay tuned, probably tomorrow!

Tbh, I’ve always had an issue with background love interests in the series. (Such as Cloudtail and Brightheart Brackenfur and Sorreltail Dustpelt and Ferncloud and ESPECIALLY Thornclaw and Blossomfall) I feel like how they’re relationships where portrayed In they’re respective arcs feel sudden and sloppy and it made me kind of iffy about them (but I especially hate DustFern and ThornBlossom) No offence but giving these characters sudden lovers feels wrong. I’m not saying BrightCloud and BrackenSorrel aren’t wholesome or never had any built up, but I feel like the respective arcs was ruined by giving them respective lovers and futures with kits.
With Brightheart Brackenfur and Ferncloud‘s lovers feel like it’s a little out of place. Sure i kinda feel like they would want to move on to new characters (they’re kits) but I don’t feel like they should end it so over due they should have made it like- a friend who potentially became a lover. So they can have shippings. Just flat out making them lovers without character development is an issue. (But I especially agree DustFern is an uncomfortable ship with how Duspelt fawned over Fernpaw so much) (it’s no argument why people like the ship Firestar and Sandstorm, they spent a whole arc developing they’re friendship. And they portrayed that friendship to lover transition so well. Meanwhile Graystripe and Silverstream was phoned in and Silverstream died like a book after they’re relationship begun. I kinda wish they did the same with background characters and make them just as intriguing as specific main character relationships. (except BrambleSquirrel obviously)
Feel free to disagree and make an argument/debate about some of these because I only really hate DustFern and ThornBlossom for reasons that are obvious. And I don want you or anyone else to take my arguments the wrong way as these are the best examples at the top of my head.
I do personally disagree here I’m afraid. With some points more than others. I fully agree about DustFern and ThornBlossom being uncomfortable though. All of these couples do have some form of build up. They aren’t just slapped together without any build up like other background couples have been (especially recently).
The weakest build up I would say is ThornBlossom. At one point in oots Lionblaze sees the two of them messing around and does wonder whether they are romantically involved (there actually practising dark forest moves but whatever). And yeah it does kind of feel the two were slapped together so I do agree with you there with those two, I feel like this is too tiny and too far away from AVoS to be considered significant.
Ok next with with Bracken and Sorrel, I would say these two probably had not much build up but it was still there, after the great journey the two did start to become close. Brackenfur does approach Sorreltail at one point and basically asks her out on a date and does show concern for her before she becomes his mate, it isn’t a lot before Sorrel becomes pregnant, especially considering she is Leafpool’s best friend, but it is still there.
Dustpelt and Ferncloud is gross but there was a lot of build up for this. The two did seem to share affections for each other, Fernpaw did seem flattered by Dustpelt’s frequent attention. It’s totally disgusting and wrong that it’s presented as a positive thing in the book, and narratively them being together as soon as she’s a warrior makes sense purely from the narrative we are presented with. So even though it makes my skin crawl, it wasn’t sudden, there was mutual affection there.
And finally Cloudtail and Brightheart. These two definitely had build up. I know I’m biased because I love this couple but throughout the rising storm and dangerous path (pre accident) there were signs. Brightpaw expresses a desire to have Cloudpaw back after he’s kidnapped but twolegs, she’s the first apprentice noted to greet him when he does return, and she immediately starts grooming his pelt, and at one point Cloudpaw asks if he and Brightpaw can go hunting and the two dash off together joyfully as soon as the go ahead is given, I know all this probably doesn’t amount to much but Fireheart admits he didn’t realise how Cloudtail felt about Brightpaw, and since we’re seeing this though his eyes it would make sense that we haven’t seen more of the two prior to this incident. And personally I would argue that what happened after Brightpaw’s accident was fantastic relationship build up for the two of them.
The thing with background characters in warriors is that you are unlikely to see much of the ins and outs of their relationships unfortunately because they are background characters living in a clan of 30+ cats and we usually only see things though the eyes of one person within this clan. I personally would argue it would be pretty unrealistic for a single character to know and observe the exact ins and outs of the relationships of everyone else they live with. However there is room for improvement, especially recently. There have been a lot more couples recently just slapped together without the protagonist observing anything going on between them, which is a shame. So I agree with you that there is definitely a need to give background characters more of a spotlight, but to explore them in the same capacity as FireSand is probably unrealistic given the length of the books and how many cats there are. And I personally think there was sufficient build up with 3/4 couples you mentioned given how none of them have POVs, especially BrightCloud.

Breeze Pelt x Jay Feather Headcanons
I may make a Jay x Breeze x Fallen headcanon post later but I wanna focus on two people for now! Headcanons under cut
-As we all know they hated each other in the past, but stuff can change
-They first started talking when all the other medicine cats stayed behind in their clans due to a lot of cats getting sick and Breeze Pelt was bored and struck up a conversation since nobody else was there that he wanted to talk with
-That same day he managed to make Jay Feather genuinely laugh, while the leaders were speaking he made a joke about Firestar and Jay laughed, Breeze Pelt saw stars.
-While Jay Feather knows a relationship like this is wrong, they like the thrill of it all and Breeze Pelt sure as hell doesn't mind running away from patrols.
-Jay Feather and Breeze Pelt both train in the dark forest, one because they get to see each other and two, because Jay Feather and Breeze Pelt feel strangely at home there
-The first time Breeze Pelt made a move was before a moonpool visit that Jay Feather and the other medicine cats were going to, Breeze Pelt pulled him aside and held the others hand while using every pick up line and flirty remark in the book
-Maple Shade ships them both
-Once, Breeze Pelt invited Jay into his home in the Dark Forest and he confessed to him over a movie (Jay can see in the Dark Forest btw)
-He didn't even outright say 'I love you' They were just watching a show and the characters kissed, Breeze Pelt just said fuck it and went for it
-It went well, and after talking they started dating
-Once Breeze Pelt tried to just make pancakes and coffee, he burned both and Jay Feather was pissed, it was 7 in the morning and they were making pancakes.
-Jay Feather, due to being a medicine cat, can go WEEKS without sleep, all they need is coffee and they're good, which concerns Breeze Pelt so whenever jay Feather isn't in the Dark Forest he convinces Maple Shade to make a portal and bring them there so they can sleep
-Breeze Pelt loves coffee, but unlike Jay he likes more stranger coffees, his favorite is Dirty Chi coffee, while Jay Feather will just get a cappuccino or a frappe from Starbucks.
-Breeze Pelt is the type of person who never tells anyone if he's sick till he vomits and or pass out, which leads to Jay Feather needing to keep a close eye on him and scolding him ALL THE TIME.
-Jay Feather likes wearing dresses, not to formal occasions, just for fun and because they like to wear them, they're comfy. And it's not really a problem since Breeze Pelt isn't the type to judge.
-Breeze Pelt enjoys reading, so Jay Feather, being as loaded as they are, always nearly buys out the whole book section whenever they're shopping at a book store.
-Breeze Pelt paints his nails black since Jay Feather both hates it but also thinks its cute, so its fun watching his lover stammer over what they're about to say.
----NSFW AHEAD---
-Jay Feather tops, even though they're blind, since they mainly fuck in the Dark Forest since that place doesn't snitch on anyone, it doesn't matter.
-Jay Feather doesn't mind being bottom, they just like making Breeze Pelt work for it
-But one time, they almost fucked in the Thunder Clan kitchen
-That was because Jay Feather was getting coffee during a late night shift and Breeze Pelts horny ass snuck in through a window and, you know what happened
-They like banging in chairs
-for example, Jay Feather is trying to work on medical files, Breeze Pelt sits on their lap, starts kissing they others neck and, you know what happens
-They have very high energy so they can go 12 at night to 12 in the afternoon
-Breeze Pelt likes using his claws whenever he can, he wants everyone to know Jay Feather is his
-Jay Feather is the same but with hickeys
-Jay Feather is weirdly really into pain, which Breeze Pelt abuses alot
---NSFW over---
-When the two are in the Dark Forest, they both play a lot of video games, which Jay Feather are pretty decent at.
-Their favorite games to play are GTA, Among Us and a few others
-Jay Feather is a amazing cook, most medicine cats are. Whenever Jay realizes Breeze Pelt hasn't eaten, they will legit whip up a 4 course meal in 15 minutes just to get them to eat something
-They have 3 kids, Blaze Eye, Quail Wing and Eagle Feather.
-Jay Feather likes podcasts. Their favorite podcast is The Corporate Casket.
-When Leafpool found out, she was very worried that Jay would make the same mistake that she made. Jay Feather had to be refrained by Breeze Pelt from smacking her and remind her that they're not a fucking idiot
-They're wedding was AMAZING let me show some photos
-What the wedding area looked like-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Jay Feather ofc wore a dress, and bought Breeze Pelt a REALLY pricey suit because they weren't letting this wedding be a complete cheap shit show, this is the dress and the suit was just a normal black suit, so you can prolly just imagine that
Tumblr media
-Breeze Pelt and Jay Feather both bite their nails, Jay Feather does it out of stress and Breeze Pelt does it out of boredom
-Breeze Pelt, despite knowing they cant, sometimes he imagines running away with Jay Feather and leaving the stressful clan life behind
-They do often talk about this, but they know its just a dream.
-Breeze Pelt is surprisingly the 'everything needs to be clean' one out of the two which makes Jay Feather laugh whenever they see the other rush to clean something in 2 seconds
-jay Feather gets surprisingly violent randomly, mainly when he doesn't get enough sleep but Breeze Pelt tries his best to keep his lover calm
-The only sport Jay Feather can do without looking stupid is ice skating since Hawkfrost taught them and a few others, Breeze Pelt likes roller skating so it works well
-Jay Feather gets misgendered due to their long hair, they are mistaken for a girl. This pisses Breeze Pelt off a lot, so when he can he will track the person down and either kill them, torture them or anything in-between
-Breeze Pelt is pan and Jay Feather is gay
-Breeze Pelt was the first person Jay Feather came out to as non-binary, Breeze Pelt just smiled and asked if they had a new name, pro-nouns and if they wanted to go shopping for anything. Jay Feather nearly cried
-Jay Feather has a really good gay-dar, so when Breeze Pelt came out as pan, Jay Feather just sat there and said, "I've known for months, its not new."
---Well thats it! requests are open, if you want to request anything, you can-- Amber
-Jay Feather often wakes up angry in thee middle of the night from talking with Yellow Fang or anyone else when they do, they figure out who Breeze Pelt is and just lay into him and calm down.
-in this au, Breeze Pelt is adopted, but unlike Jay Feather nobody knows

Can I just say Leafpool and her character arc in PoT was a complete wasted opportunity to show that at least some of the Warrior Code was outdated and needed revision?
Ok, I understand. A good chunk of the Warrior Code reads more like Common Sense then needing to be a law (the Code about putting your clan above outside friendship is a good example) and the bulk of the first series was dedicated to showing how breaking the code could make your life hell (especially with forbidden romances)
But then we get into New Prophecy and it starts to get to the point where you realize the younger generations are having a much harder time following the code, especially the rules concerning Outside Friendships and Romances. As the series goes on it really does seem like they were going out of their way to show how a chunk of the Warrior Code, especially ones that concern romance and friendships, were very out dated.
This brings me to Leafpool, a cat who becomes a medicine cat and is also the third major medicine cat that I know of to have kits and break the code (Moth Flight started the rule, Yellowfang birthed Brokenstar, and we know who Leafpool birthed).
It could have been extremely easy for the code to change from this due to the fact that after the reveal that Leafpool broke the code Thunderclan didn't care. She only stepped down due to her personal shame. She was not forced to and in fact many urged her to retake her position until she did so in The Last Hope. When you combine this with how much importance her own daughter Hollyleaf put on the code, you could have had a situation where Thunderclan could have had a discussion about it and decide "Hey, Leafpool had kits and it didn't effect her ability to be an amazing medicine cat in anyway. Maybe this rule needs changed?" And go from there.
I'm kind of hoping The Broken Code brings up revisions to the Code, because a lot of it is outdated (I might go more in depth on this later) and real world governments have revisions to their parliament/laws when needed so I dont see why a bunch of fictional cats cant say "hey, this rule is doing us more harm then good, maybe we should change or or get rid of it?"?

For a ship thing, do Crowpaw and Squirrelflight!! P.S. Can't wait for your MAP!!!
AAAA thanku!!
OWO
Who asks the other on dates: Squirrelflight. She's more adventurous and likes pulling Crowbreeze out to places (before and after leaving ThunderClan) that they can see the lake or get him used to non-moor terrain.
Who is the bigger cuddler: Squirrelflight. She may be smol, but she is fluffy and Crowbreeze has to fight off his clanmates when the fluffy she-cat lays out in the sun.
Who initiates holding hands more often: Crowbreeze. Once he and her become mates in WindClan, he's one for being affectionate in front of his clanmates to show that he is dead serious on having her as his permanent mate.
Who remembers anniversaries: Both! They celebrate around every Greenleaf when Squirrelflight joined WindClan. And every Newleaf when they had Jaywish, Hollybramble, and Lionshell.
Who is more possessive: Crowbreeze. Especially when Squirrelflight joined WindClan as ThunderClan demanded her back, and then there was Bramblepetal who was obsessed. And of course WindClan was a bit unconvinced she was there to stay, even when Mudstar vouched for her.
Who gets more jealous: Squirrelflight. It was worse when she was stuck with Ashcloud and Bramblepetal. And Crowbreeze was being flirted with with other WindClan she-cats.
Who is more protective: Both! They will mess you up if you're stupid.
Who is more likely to cheat: Neither! Or both, if you consider they are a half-Clan couple and y'know-
Who initiates sexy times the most: Squirrelflight. She is the adventurous one, more ways than one.
Who dislikes PDA the most: Both! They are happier together, and don't care if everyone sees it. They can and will sit next to each other, eat together, sleep together, hunt together, even go on missions together with their tails entwined and purring on max.
Who kills the spider: Neither. They catch em and give them to the medicine cat.
Who asks the the other to marry them: Both. When everything was coming to a head, they met up with Leafpool and admitted to hating being apart. And with the problem with Ashcloud and Bramblepetal at it's worse, it only made sense for someone to join the other's Clan. And in that case, Squirrelflight hated everything of ThunderClan at that point. Except her sister. Bless Leafpool.
Who buys the other flowers or gifts: Crowbreeze. He was almost a medicine cat back before his attitude got him turned away. But he loves the smell of certain herbs and sneaks them into flower bunches he grabs for Squirrelflight.
Who would bring up possibly having kids: Both!!! They were happy, even when WindClan was still skeptical. And when Leaf-bare came, everyone was convinced as the bright orange she-cat waddled around with a plump belly and still demanding hunting patrols. She had to be told she was pregnant, which is fair. Squirrelflight was still in hunter mode before she realized she needed to slow down.
Who is more nervous to meet the parents: Crowbreeze. Moons after Squirrelflight is a WindClan senior queen (and warrior for some hunting patrols), he is only even able to talk to Firestar and Sandstorm about everything that happened. But thankfully, the parents do take responsiblity for their actions back then.
Who sleeps on the couch when the other is angry: BOTH. These two barely fight. Their squabbles are small jabs that barely escalate, but the rare times that they do someone pulls out and sleeps a small distance away. Or most time Crowbreeze sleeps back in the Warriors den and Squirrelflight the Queens den.
Who tries to make up first after arguments: Both. They know they're words hurt and are the main couple that shows others that hiccups in a relationship is not the end of the world.
Who tells the other they love them more often: Squirrelflight. Crowbreeze likes silence, Squirrelflight likes noise. She will yell her love for him when he leaves camp for any reason.

In the seer au, with Jaypaw going to Windclan and working with Leafpool, would that lead to trouble later on if cats find out about him being Leaf/Crow's kit? Because seers aren't supposed to be in their families clan?
i don't want to say too much about it, lest i show my cards for the next few fics, but uh. okay i'm going to talk about the end of "it's been promised to another" which, if you're not up to date with stoalg, well (a) spoilers but (b) the end of ibpta has discussion both of death/exile and abortion.
anyway so saying the problem here is seers aren't supposed to be in their family's clan is like saying, "yellowstone just erupted, and also there's a power outage."
i mean yeah those two things Sure Are problems, but one of them makes the other basically irrelevant.
as far as the cats are concerned, jaypaw isn't related to crowfeather and leafpool. (short of like. he couldn't have kits with a half sibling that would be Bad.) but squilf adopted leafpool's kits, leafpool's kinship ties are broken, that makes them squilf's kits.
so Even If there wasn't a bigger problem, the being leaf's kit thing wouldn't be an issue.
she didn't even nurse them for longer than like. a quarter moon?
anyway. crowfeather is definitely irrelevant here. he didn't raise them in the Slightest, he's not their dad.
(they have no father, they have two moms. squilf and mothwing. mothwing isn't supposed to be a parent but uh. well. she Loves Them a Lot a Lot a Lot.)
but yeah, nominally at least, the cats wouldn't hold jaypaw's bio parentage against him in any way.
being in windclan is definitely highly sus for him, because they take this stuff The Most seriously, but they also. so as a reminder, the status at the end of iaffl is
mothwing and flamepaw in thunderclan
spottedleaf and kestrelpaw in riverclan
cinderpelt and willowpaw in shadowclan
leafpool and jaypaw in windclan
(some of them may have their full names but i'm being quick.)
and so there's really no possible solution to the problem? like. okay, so...jaypaw and willowpaw are a Potential swap, since both flamepaw and kestrelpaw results in someone returning to their birth clan, but shadowclan wouldn't want to give her up because she knows all the Clan Specific Deal. (jaypaw would know stuff for windclan, but significantly less.)
anyway, you see the difference between ideals and politics here. ideally there wouldn't be a problem, but the clans would not like it.
but of course! leafpool is a seer. and so figuring out What to Do about Her is way much very much the bigger problem.
at the end of ibpta, she basically has three choices: die, be exiled, or abort her kits. she chooses option four: try to avoid her other choices.
like, the clans are uh, very much Not Pro Choice. okay general reminder: my warriors worldbuilding does not reflect my views about the world. i am not trying to build a good world, i am trying to build an interesting one.
anyway.
when your infant mortality rate is ca. 50%, every kit's life is precious. killing kits (including unborn ones) is a crime punishable by Instant Death.
leafpool is a seer so who fucking knows what would happen, because harming a seer is punishable by anything from a Big Time Long Term punishment to Exile to Death. highly dependent on the level of harm (accident, accident but serious, any level of intentional harm), but like. cats know who the seers are. it's important to know before you bring an apprentice to battle.
god it's been Ages since i rambled about stolag's world building. mothwing's piece is like. the biggest chance to expand on that and it's through such a low-battle time it doesn't come up. why must i be like this.
so yeah so! who knows what would happen bc by that logic you get: leafpool kills kits → leafpool must be killed → leafpool either has to kill herself or whoever kills her must be killed
(you might be saying, "wouldn't a murderer for punishment purposes get immunity?" to which i say, "this is not that type of world. the rules about seers trump every other rule. even where it doesn't make sense.")
anyway, obviously that's not super relevant because that doesn't happen.
if leafpool was discovered when she was pregnant or nursing, the kits would have been given to a windclan queen. they may or may not be told about their birth, but the other clans certainly wouldn't.
leafpool would be exiled or killed. it's not super clear what would happen, but either way, she would lose everything.
kestrelpaw is the oldest apprentice, i believe, but willowpaw would be chosen for obvious reasons. windclan is probably best equipt to deal with this Particular situation, because windclan elders share the burden of knowing the whole hymn. so willowpaw would have people to teach her everything she needs to know.
willowpaw would receive her full name after learning the full hymn, and windclan would have to trust that the stars would guide her to oversee the correct rites. (singing days, fasts, and approving names of kits.)
(and who would name her? she would be instructed to pray on it and starclan would give her a name. not sure what i would name her. windclan doesn't have any sense of passing names on, so while if this were in thunderclan or shadowclan she would be named willowface, willowbark, or willowleaf with some level of certainity, there's no such convention.
i might name her willowshine or willowlight.
which might give away that her name isn't necessarily going to be willowshine in stolag.
but i digress.)
anyway! that makes willow the youngest medicine cat, and cinderpelt the oldest (without an apprentice). so shadowclan jaypaw instead.
anyway! yeah the fact that she's his mother is certainly a problem, but it's almost insignificant to the greater problem that a seer had kits.
a scuffed knee compared to a broken femur, if you will.
so yeah, there'd definitely be a problem, it just wouldn't have much to do with the family relationship. if, say, he was a squirrelcrow kit, windclan would be a-okay with him staying, because crowfeather isn't his father in any meaningful sense.
hope that makes sense! sorry i started rambling about politics again.

Rules: Choose any three fandoms (in random order) and answer the questions.
i choose: heck, let’s go with the 3 i’ve been most into recently!
star wars | fire emblem | warriors
the first character you loved:
anakin skywalker. i still remember being indignant when ahsoka talked back to him in the tcw movie | either lissa or frederick | probably dovewing (i borrowed the fourth apprentice from a friend and read that first before going back and reading the rest of the series)
the character you never expected to love so much:
probably ezra bridger, tbh! i started watching rebels purely for ahsoka and rex and did not expect to get so attached to the ghost crew literally within the first 5 minutes of spark of rebellion | TAKUMI | ... god, it’s so hard to remember these things, the first time i read these books was so many years ago... squirrelflight, maybe?
the character you relate to the most:
echo! i used to read encyclopedias for fun as a kid so i understand his love of the reg manual | probably sumia? i don’t quite have self-esteem issues like she does but i do tend to downplay my strengths and kinda write myself off. plus we both love reading and even tend to prefer the same genres (mostly fantasy and fiction) | leafpool because i too spend a good deal of my time pretending everything is fine even if it’s not and trying to fix my mistakes,
the character you’d slap:
wat tambor | fernand | clear sky. i’ve had enough of that dude
three favorite characters (in order of preference):
anakin, kanan, rey | gaius, takumi, lissa | JAYFEATHER, lionblaze, bramblestar (if i’m being totally honest jayfeather alone is favorite characters #1 through 10 for this series i love him SO MUCH no one else even comes close)
a character you liked at first but don’t anymore:
... i don’t really care for ventress? i don’t dislike her, but i don’t seem to like her as much as everyone else does. i thought she was cool the first time i watched tcw all the way through, but now... | cherche, maybe? i don’t think i’ve ever really disliked a fire emblem character - at least not one from any of the games i’ve played - but i’m not as interested in cherche as i used to be | sorry, dovewing
a character you did not like at first but now do:
ahsoka, believe it or not. i don’t remember caring about her too much when tcw was first airing, but i really like her now | camilla | as usual i never really disliked hollyleaf but i like her more now than i did the first time i read the books
three OTPs:
anidala, kanera, ultimate rarepair™ arcmaiden | the Original Rarepair™ ricken/lissa, chrom/sumia, gaius/robin | bramblestar/squirrelflight, lionblaze/cinderheart, hollyleaf/fallen leaves (honorable mention for bluestar/oakheart bc i do love me those classic and tragic Forbidden Relationships but hollyleaf falling in love with a literal ghost is just too good of a concept and is therefore slightly higher in the rankings)
