Yo so when number two stole tak stuff, did he also steal the tak ai? Like a trophy to keep, a terrible fate then being found by Dib. For this zim kill her physical counterpart.

He didn’t just steal it. Just like the rest of the remains of Tak’s Ship, the AI was mixed with Zim’s Voot Cruiser.

Number 2 also overwrote the AI with a completely different personality. He didn’t replace it with his own personality, as he believed (probably rightly so) that if he did that his ship would either turn against him or AI would believe that it was the real Zim try to replace him like it did when Dib uploaded his personality into it.

The AI is more like a SIR unit in terms of personality, obeying the orders it’s given without question, and it has the voice of a SIR Unit as well.

He did a similar thing with Mimi, fusing them with Gir to make a fully functional SIR Unit that sounds like Gir, but acts like Mimi (a proper SIR Unit).

So in a way, Number 2 killed Tak twice. Once physically, and then again by destroying, overwriting and repurposing her Ship AI.

Nimoma has good emotional payoff and animation but nothing else to really write home about TBH

It's very SPOP in that way, where the arcs and scenes are solid when viewed outside of the media in gifset or clip form but don't work as well when actually watching what they're from

For sure! I think that's a problem she-ra and toh both share with Nimona—they struggle with setup but then go ham on the payoff, which leaves everything feeling somewhat unearned.

The end of the movie bugged me in particular—Ballister's 180 with calling Nimona a monster (something he KNOWS pushes her to the brink) after one conversation with his ex-boyfriend was...I think out of place?

Normally if you have a character make a wrong choice like that you, as the audience, would be questioning the whole movie if they had ever REALLY changed. Was Ballister's loyalty truly to Nimona or to the Institute/Goldenloin? But, by that point in the movie they had really sold me on Ballister's complete acceptance of Nimona and disregard of the institute, so....why would he turn on Nimona then? I'm surprised they didn't do this plot the other way, which would instead have only made it seem like Ballister betrayed Nimona, you know? Like they did in Tangled. That way you don't undo Ballister's movie long arc with one scene, but you can still have Nimona go berserk and make her way into the heart of the city.

There were also a couple of other things that felt kinda dropped by the end. Ballister being the first commoner to become a knight? The Queen's important role in this society? This kingdom's prejudice going SO deep that not even a child would give Nimona a chance after saving their life, yet blowing up the wall changed everyone's minds in the end?

There were a lot of good pieces, but they weren't quite put together in the right ways.

YOSHIDA Shigeo (吉田 重夫)

Here's the follow-up to yesterday's post: Shigeo, Sokhna's husband, and mechanic as Yoshida Motors. We do see him in canon, during the timeskip recap, so I had a base.

Notably, his son (and his daughter whose design I'll share soon) inherited the triangular chin, nose, and the arched eyebrows. However, having a cap, I couldn't make sense of his hair.

So it kind of looks 90s, despite technically being set in 2014, but it's okay.

Sometimes, people figure out style that fit them and stick with it, even if it's not 'trendy' anymore. I kind of imagine Shigeo to be that guy that looked 'old' at 25-30, but stayed that way, so ended up looking younger than his peers when age caught up.

Again, a very nice, encouraging, hardworking dad. Can you tell I'm trying to counteract the “awful parents” ratio of Class E? Because I am.

- Oversol, who although being a deeply trusted safe place to go has no particular medical knowledge or skills and will probably just call a very expensive doctor and/or pick Hallowrove up and sprint her to a hospital, while being VERY stressed either way

i can't say i really have a favourite honestly, it's kind of luck based. i'll usually try to watch streams while i eat food, but if ive run out of the ones i'm interested in watching, it's likely im eating to a much shorter video.

I sure do love to go to the thrift store and acquire things!! Today I got a broken (?) little wooden music box, a couple pieces of fabric (one dark pink cotton jacquard and one dark brown and gold sari silk) and also a plate with a picture of the Hartland covered bridge on it. That's the longest covered bridge in the world, and I've walked across it, and now I can eat sandwiches off it's monochromatic blue image.

Hello I am not dead I've just been sucked irrevocably into Stardew Valley by my friend who bought it for my birthday (and also Christmas, because my birthday is three days after Christmas, which is usually the way presents go for me and I don't mind). I've already put like 42 hours into my little farm in the forest and making friends with the residents and I'm having the most delightful time. Also my friend's boyfriend is purchasing a copy for my girlfriend so we can play together. What really sold her was when I told her we could get gay married in co-op. 10/10

Sorry to say this but I don't have a magic trick for that either haha I think the key is to use good references!! Find something for the exact angle or expression you need, and then get borderline creepy by just staring at the face for a while to study it lmao sketch it a few times to get a feel for it, and/or trace it if that helps you, just figure out what makes this particular face unique. Like, as an example with kinnporsche for me it’s Bible's cheekbones and his eyes and nose, or Mile's eyebrows and his nose and jaw etc etc. Focus on these features that stand out to you, and emphasise them.

I touched on this a little bit in a previous ask on faces and while that advice is a couple of years old now, I still think that having the right proportions down makes all the difference. Try not to get lost in the details, that way hyper realism lies :D

Sorry if you‘ve been asked this before, but since we know you‘re fav lmk characters, I was wondering what you‘re favorite duos and trios were?

And/or however many characters you wanna group together. Just in general, the character dynamics you find neat!

(My guess is that MK and Mei are somewhere on the top of the list- if not THE top)

One of my favorite things about lmk (of which there are many lol), is that you could throw two darts, and whatever two characters the darts land on are bound to have an interesting dynamic.

One of my favorite episodes is the Sandy and Huntsman episode (2x08), Tang and Macaque also have an intriguing conflict in 3x08, and Pigsy and Chang'e (3x07) have such a heartfelt shared passion that you can't help but enjoy their on screen time together.

I'm someone who wants a sort of Ne Zha and Yellowtusk "we reluctantly work together" arc, where even though Yellowtusk may have helped nearly bring the world to it's destruction, he ultimately helped save it, and he also happens to know a thing or too about keeping the Jade Emperor's power contained. I think it'd really fit in with lmk's "past mistakes vs making the right choices now" theme—in all honesty Yellowtusk has already paid his time with an eternity spent in the scroll—and now he can truly help make a better world. I think it'd be a neat way to keep him involved in the story, give Ne Zha someone to bounce off of (they both view power as sacred and a huge responsibility, unlike Wukong for example who is much more flippant with power), and would give some juicy drama ("You would betray your brothers?") between Peng and Yellowtusk later down the line.

Though anon you're 100% right, MK and Mei are at the top of my favorite dynamic list lol (They're whole motivation is to protect each other out of 100% platonic love. Obsessed with them). I'm also really partial for the MK, Mei, and Sandy trio that pops up here and there (1x03, 1x04, 3x04, 3x06). Traffic light trio is a treat, and the sunburst duo has my heart forever and always (I love seeing the way MK and Wukong's relationship has developed over the course of the show, both for the better and worse). Pigsy and Tang are always a delight (thank you 1x04, 2x03, 2x04, 3x05, 4x04, and specifically the line "Sometimes it's that little bit of char that makes for a more flavorful meat! Even if it is a bit tangy."), they're definitely at the top of my list. Obviously I like shadowpeach, and shadowpeach + MK (ooooo the monkeys are such delicious/tragic foils oooo), and I think Mei and Wukong have a really interesting dynamic (Wukong seeing Ao Lie in Mei, Mei viewing Wukong as someone who has hurt MK). Wukong and Azure's dynamic is also super interesting (Azure with his unrequited crush and heartbreak), so is LBD and MK's (could talk forever about these two), however I'll cut this off here since I could probably go on for a long while about this specific topic.

Hunter x Leon!! but also maybe Hunter x Ada...

I definitely don't think Leon and Hunter would work. If Hunter was still with the BSAA when they meet Leon, Hunter probably would see him as a buddy. Post-rebirth, Hunter sees Leon as an enemy, but they would mostly ignore Leon, unless he gets in their way. Truth be told, Leon isn't Hunter's type. They like their blondes evil.

Hunter and Ada, on the other hand, could potentially work. Post rebirth, Ada is one of the few people that Hunter warms up quickly to besides Wesker. They think she is a capable and intelligent woman, which is something Hunter values highly. I think the big issue between Hunter and Ada might be a lack of trust since Ada plays her card close to her chest. If Ada was willing to be more open and Hunter was willing to be way less paranoid, they might actually work.

Favorite book and why

Oh god I’m gonna out myself as a giant fucking nerd here because I unironically like a lot of classic literature.

I love A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. People are right when they critique a lot of his writing as wordy and winding, but I think some of his books are less dense and dry than others. A Tale of Two Cities has some genuinely gorgeous prose, both in use of imagery and language, and that, combined with how the writing compliments the motifs of the plot (at least imho!) is actually really lovely.

I also read it at a very tough point in my life and found some of the themes uplifting.

Of more current things I’ve read? Check out Angels in America by Tony Kushner. It’s technically a play, and it deals with heavy topics surrounding the AIDS crisis in the US in the 80s, but it is so stunningly done and has some comedic moments to balance the serious topics.

5! They’re opposites in many ways but they work and would love to hear your take on why

In my opinion, Jane and Maura are so compatible because of that opposites thing. I guess, though, it's like the way they're opposites. They're both really smart, gifted in different areas of cognition, they like to tease and they like to put puzzles together, metaphorically speaking. They have lots of ways in which they are similar.

But where Maura is introverted and confused by a lot of the dumb social mores of the people around her, Jane reads those easily.

Jane gets hotheaded and doesn't think through things, and Maura calms her, helps her calculate (the coffee throwing incident, anyone? MAURA GAVE JANE HER COFFEE). Jane's impulse helps Maura be more spontaneous, and Maura's introspection helps Jane solve problems.

Jane is so all-encompassingly affectionate and family oriented, that Maura has no choice but to be enamored, I think. It's so different than what she grew up with, and she loves it. I think Jane makes her feel like she's the most important person on Earth a lot of times, when in her childhood she often felt alone and unseen.

This may be one of the most important: they look so wildly different. This is by far the sexiest thing about them, and the thing that attracts them to one another (REMEMBER WHEN MAURA SAYS "I JUST WANT YOU TO LOOK NICE FOR HIM LIKE YOU DO FOR ME" OR SOME SUCH SHIT????? WHAT THE FUCK). I think they like that they actually look like opposites. They look very striking together, both beautiful in different ways.
