Some of the guys from Horror movies I love seeing growing up. The Grudge, Candyman and The PuppetMaster Series. There used to be a channel I would watch that would just be old B-rated horror movies from the 80s and Kungfu Movies. And that's ALL I would watch when there was nothing good on the Main Horror Channel.
The Grudge was actually the first proper Pg-13 movie I watched on my 13th birthday-despite already having had watched a BUNCH of Rated R horror movies cause Public TV's rating system is fucked (DeadGirl, The Woman, etc...) So it has a place in my heart despite my personal rating of it being an 'pretty okay' movie.

Ju-Ken (Sengoku-Jidai/Vamps) Birth Chart 101
Tumblr media
Date of Birth: June 27th 1971 Birth Time: I do not know Ju-Ken’s birth time, therefore I do not have his rising/houses
Sun: Cancer Moon: Leo Mercury: Cancer Venus: Gemini Mars: Aquarius Jupiter: Scorpio Saturn: Gemini Uranus: Libra Neptune: Sagittarius Pluto: Virgo
Table of Contents: Ju-Ken Birth Chart Inner Planets/Luminaries: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars Inner Combinations: Sun + Moon, Mercury + Venus + Mars. Outer Planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto
JU-KEN BIRTH CHART
Tumblr media
Inner Planets/Luminaries Since the Sun + Moon are not planets, they are referred to as the luminaries. These placements are also collectively referred to as personal placements, as they deal more with specific personal aspects, and the outer planets deal more with large group things.
Sun: Ego - Base Personality - Overarching Identity - Building Block for All Else
Sun in Cancer:  Ruled by the Moon and represented by the Crab, Cancers can have a tough outer shell but are very soft and gentle on the inside. Water signs are known for emotional sensitivity, and Cancers channel that sensitivity into their charm and charisma. A Cancer’s charisma is gentle yet powerful, commanding attention in a room even if unintentional. This natural draw for attention can make many Cancers quite shy, though there are less shy, outgoing Cancers as well - it all depends on the rest of their chart. Regardless of how shy or outgoing a Cancer is, they need a good amount of time alone to recharge their energies or they can become moody and withdrawn. Cancer energy represents new ideas, heart-on-sleeve emotions, and romantic creativity - Cancer is naturally gifted with initiating creative ideas and does well in jobs and situations involving creative brainstorming.
In youth, Cancer’s sweet, sensitive nature comes through as their shell is still soft - unfortunately this makes them prone to others trying to take advantage of them. As adults, many Cancers either come off as cool and stoic or aloof as they try to keep their sensitive side drawn back from those who would misuse them. Once a Cancer trusts you and is comfortable enough with you to show that sensitive side, they become the sweetest, most caring friends you could ask for.
Cancers are quite particular about things, and generally run their homes, being very home-oriented and very good at planning things - especially social events. Often the “mom-friend” in their social groups, regardless of gender - making sure everyone is taken care of and having a good time. Cancer’s ego is fueled positively by giving them space to process and express their emotions and moods. They’re also prone to nostalgia/sentimentality so delving into positive memories together or listening to them reminisce will build that positive relationship.
Cancer’s ego is fueled negatively by poking and prodding at their moods, taking advantage of their sensitivity for your own gain - this will cause them to harden their shell more, and can cause resentment. If a Cancer trusts you enough to let you into their shell and you betray that trust, they can hold a grudge for a lifetime. Even if they say they forgive you, they will never forget what happened.
Moon: Emotions - How We Process & Emotions and Information - How We React To Others’ Words, Actions, and Expressions - Our Sense of Stability/Security
Moon in Leo: Ruled by the Sun and represented by the Lion - Leo is pride and sustaining energy. Leo Moon’s emotions are tied directly to the ego, and it can be difficult to separate the two. Leo’s fire energy means emotions are felt intensely, and they can be very passionate people. In fact, emotions can be overwhelming in their intensity at times and it is important for these people to have an external outlet for their emotional waves - such as music/art/writing/fitness/hobbies involving physical work/etc - and with a flare for drama Leo Moons make excellent actors, attorneys, and sales-folk.
Leo energy is stubborn, motivated and charismatic. Emotions come in with a vigor, find a foothold, and latch on until they can be processed thoroughly. Leo Moons can be quite stubborn, letting the heart overrule the head. This applies to all kinds of emotions, both negative and positive. When upset it can take awhile to feel okay again, and when overjoyed they feel like nothing could bring them down! Leo Moon is fueled positively by emotional care to their ego. Compliment them, let them know how important and valued they are, and when giving criticisms, keep it as positive as possible. Don’t over-boost their ego, elsewise they can become full of themselves. But healthy compliments and reminders that their presence is important will keep them going! Leo Moon is fueled negatively by critiques without emotional warmth - as well as empty ego boosts. If the compliments are not sincere, and are just said to keep them happy, they will pick up on it and learn to assume that people are giving fake compliments to stay on their good side. Critiques or statements made bluntly or without a corresponding compliment can be taken to heart as them being faulty or wrong, even if that was not the original intent.
Mercury: Communication - Gaining Knowledge - Thought Processes - Written/Verbal Expression of Ideas
Mercury in Cancer: Cancer’s sensitivity and charisma comes through with a defined duality. When it comes to communication, Cancer’s charm shines as they speak with gentleness and care. Communication can also be moody, and sometimes reserved - it’s not uncommon for Cancer Mercury to pull their energy back and cease communication for periods of time. Water signs are known for high intuition, and in Mercury, they pick up information with great ease. They absorb the energy of the room and pick up on every subtle cue - vocal tone, facial expression, things unsaid lying underneath spoken words. Because they are so good at picking up underlying meaning and energy, they can often assume that others do the same and don’t feel the need to communicate in great deal. This can cause communication issues with more direct and analytical placements as they’ll feel that Cancer Mercury is expecting them to be mind-readers. It’s important for Cancer Mercury people to understand that most others won’t understand things as intuitively as them, and some people really do need things stated or spelled out more than they think. Cancer Mercury has a great memory - especially emotional memory. They relate knowledge to emotional experience and can be very reflective and sentimental. They’re less likely to remember exact information or details about a person or experience, and more how the person/experience made them feel, which in turn determines how they communicate their thoughts about the person/experience. With expression being inclined towards feeling over practicality or detail, it is best for these people to express themselves through creative means such as music, writing/poetry, art. With Ju-Ken, his Cancer Mercury expresses itself best through his music & lyrics~
Venus: Love - Beauty - Aesthetics - Money (Earning & Spending)
Venus in Gemini: Ruled by Mercury and represented by The Twins, Gemini prizes communication and energetic movement. With interpersonal relationships, this means being drawn to people who can have interesting conversations and are knowledgeable on a variety of topics. People who can’t hold a conversation or have shallow interests will bore Gemini Venus and they’ll quickly move on to more interesting people. When it comes to romantic relationships, good looks only go so far, as they need the intellectual stimulation to keep the mood going. These people are known to be social butterflies, keeping a large social circle with a variety of people from different walks of life. They can’t stand only being surrounded by one type of person. They value and need people with different backgrounds, thoughts, and world-views to keep them intrigued.
Gemini energy is adaptable, analytical, and curious. They’re always looking for the next new, exciting thing to keep their curious minds busy. In Venus, this means lots of relationships, varied friend groups, lots of different jobs or many changes within one job, and a variety of hobbies. Gaining new information from a variety of sources is highly important. Venus also rules the areas of beauty, aesthetics, and fashion. Gemini Venus’ interest in many things shows they may frequently change their style or surroundings. Bright colors and unique prints keep their environments lively and energetic. With Gemini’s sociable nature, it’s common for Gemini Venus to fill homes, offices, and other personal spaces with displays of memorabilia attached to friends and family. Photos, gifts, and souvenirs from trips or other events that hold memories with the people dearest to them fill shelves and wall-space with pride.
Mars: Action - Physicality - Assertiveness
Mars in Aquarius: Ruled by Uranus and represented by the Water Bearer, Aquarius is the rebel of the zodiac. Aquarius is different for different’s sake and gets bored with routine and the mundane. They’re always looking for fun, new things to do and have trouble sitting still. Never wanting to be predictable, they love to experiment and change things up. They may regularly change their fashion style, or if they stick to a style you can be sure it is distinctly them. They stand out in a crowd, sometimes on purpose but even if they aren’t trying to, they do. There’s a strong belief in the freedom of people to express their individuality, and they are quick to encourage others to do things for themselves rather than for the expectation of others. The status quo just does not hold any appeal. While holding this need for change, rebellion, and expression, Aquarius Mars can also have a stubborn streak. They want to do things for themselves and nothing will keep them locked into a pattern or habit more than people telling them they need to change. If they do change, it will surely be in a different direction than they are being asked to go, just to prove that they can. Even with this stubborn streak, Aquarius Mars isn’t very forceful and prefers to be laid back and just enjoy the ride of life. Aquarius energy is determined, curious, and innovative. Aquarius is stubborn in the need to move around and change their environment often, in both big and small ways. Aquarius Mars thrives in environments that allow for them to do a variety of things and have a regular change of scenery. They suffer in environments that have few, repetitive tasks for them to do and don’t allow much movement. They would do much better in jobs that require travel and have flexible, varied schedules than jobs that are based out of one location and have a regular, consistent schedule.
Inner combinations These are the major combinations, though all placements relate to each other. If you would like an analysis on any combination not covered here, please let me know.
Cancer Sun + Leo Moon: The duality of having Cancer, ruled by the Moon, in the Sun position, and Leo, ruled by the Sun, in the Moon position, means that his ego and emotions are so closely tied together that it is nearly impossible to separate them. While most people feel a tie between their emotions and their ego, for this dynamic, this connection is the strongest. This intense sensitivity makes him very passionate and compassionate, as well as very creative. However, it can also be a very overwhelming dynamic that can cause him to pull inward and need a lot of solitude at times in order to process everything. This combination brings out a strong sense of protection. Self protection of course, but also protection of others. If someone in their family or social circle is having a hard time, he’ll jump in to help any way he can without question. This trait is admirable yet can become targeted by those who would take advantage of such kindness. Therefore discretion is necessary. In my experience, most Cancer Sun, Leo Moon combination people live by the thought “I’d rather help someone who didn’t need it than not help someone who did”.
Cancer Mercury + Gemini Venus + Aquarius Mars: This combination is always seeking new, exciting avenues of life. There’s a restless energy that gets bored easily if kept in the same overall environment for too long. A variable social circle and work schedule is necessary to keep the energy flow up. Gemini and Aquarius in this combination can make it easy to detach from people and places, but Cancer both here in Mercury and in the Sun position keeps him from detaching completely so that a healthy amount of emotion stays tied with various people, places, and experiences, even after they’re long past. He can be quite nostalgic, and he has a lot to be nostalgic for! Cancer Mercury works with his Gemini Venus and Aquarius Mars to fill his home and heart with the most precious memories made with all the people he meets and places he goes. It’s important for this combination to find balance between the heart and the head as it can become too easy to get stuck in one space or the other.
Outer planets
The planets beyond the asteroid belt move more slowly through the signs, and their traits and influence have to do more with large groups than personal things. How they relate on a personal level involves connecting them back to related personal placements, as I will show with each placement.
Jupiter: Travel - Education - Authoritative Structures - Luck - Growth & Expansion
Jupiter will present in 1 or 2 signs in a year.
Jupiter in Scorpio: Ruled by Pluto and Mars, and represented by the Scorpion, Scorpio is the sign of deep transformation. It’s an intensely intuitive sign that brings to light the hidden depths and mysteries of life. Scorpio Jupiter uses the hardships of life to create their own happiness, luck, and freedom. Understanding the darker and difficult sides of life make it easier to distinguish genuine positivity from fake positivity - what it means to be truly happy versus faking it until you make it. Authoritative people and structures in their life impress a sense of fake happiness and freedom - an attitude that things are fine when they’re not - and Scorpio Jupiter will see through this easily. Issues with authority come from resisting the pressure to pretend things are okay and actually seek ways to make situations better. They can detect people’s true intentions and get upset if their words/actions don’t match their intentions. Therefore, they can be very private people, only opening up to those they can trust to be honest and forthright. Scorpio energy is stubborn, stead-fast, perceptive, and investigative. Scorpio is very intuitive and Scorpio Jupiter can, if they chose, be very gifted with matters of psychology, medicine, healing practices, and the occult. From therapists to detectives to psychics, they seek to understand people and help solve/heal them. When they travel, they are very observant of different people and ways of life. With Jupiter representing expansion in life, this gives a natural strength to being able to read between the lines and find deeper truths in areas they choose to focus on.
Saturn: Responsibility - Discipline - Karma Saturn will stay in a sign for about 2.5 years - Taking about 29-30 years to go through all 12 signs. Saturn rules time and life-lessons. Approximately every 28-30 years, Saturn will return to the sign it was in when you were born, and your Saturn return period emphasizes the life-lessons that Saturn is trying to teach you.
Saturn in Gemini: Gemini is all about duality, knowledge, and communication. Gemini Saturn’s lesson is about using personal intellect to communicate effectively. People with Saturn in Gemini may struggle with communication, either being overly logical and analytical in communication or not logical and analytical enough. Saturn teaches you to find the balance between communicating exactly what you need and assuming other people will just intuitively understand your thoughts and needs. It’s the balance between the heart and the head - spending too much time brooding in emotions or wrapping oneself up in logically rationalizing every part of life keeping actual action from occurring. Gemini Saturn reminds people that while yes it is important to think things through before acting, action needs to happen eventually and that communication is the best course of action. Tied in with Ju-Ken’s Cancer Mercury, I would guess that his struggle would be more with not being logical or analytical enough with communication and expecting others to intuit his words through emotions. His lesson with this placement is to communicate more under the assumption that others aren’t as intuitive about his true meaning as he thinks they should be.
Uranus: Rebellion - Liberation - Innovation - Upheavals
Uranus stays in one sign for about 7 years.
Uranus in Libra: Ruled by Venus and represented by Justice, Libra seeks balance and harmony in all things. Rebellion and innovation show through in reforms to social and structural ideas and systems of justice. What is fair or unfair, what is balanced, and what can be done to have a more harmonious balance of society. Keep in mind, with the duality of nature and nurture, the exact definitions and ideas of what is fair, harmonious, and justice will vary based on influences people are raised with.
“The last time Uranus was in Libra was from October 1968 until September 1975 stimulating changes in social justice, diplomacy, music, and the arts.” (https://www.san.beck.org › Astro-Uranus)
One of the big social showings of this time was the hippie movement - make love not war - challenging the priority of war over interpersonal relationships.
Since this is a larger group planet, for the individual it is important to relate back into the chart. Since Libra is ruled by Venus, looking into Juken’s Venus sign is where his personal expression of this placement comes through. With his Venus being in Gemini, he seeks balance, justice, and harmony through the combination of a variety of people from multiple walks of life through open-minded communication. Going further, as Gemini is ruled by Mercury, his Cancer Mercury plays into this as well. He is sensitive and empathetic, and values the freedom for people to express their views.
Neptune: Dreams - Magic - The Subconscious
Neptune stays in one sign for 14 years.
Neptune in Sagittarius: Ruled by Jupiter and represented by the archer, Sagittarius is all about forward momentum into the unknown. These people look for potential through the lens of their personal religious/philosophical beliefs. Therefore this will present differently depending on what those beliefs are for each person. They can become very attached to their beliefs whether this be a specific religion, a driving life philosophy, or a social cause. Sagittarius likes to look for solutions, therefore Sagittarius Neptune looks for solutions to life’s problems through their deeply held beliefs - depending on social upbringing and other chart elements this can cause difficulty in accepting others’ beliefs. With Sagittarius being ruled by Jupiter and Ju-ken’s Jupiter being in Scorpio, he may be drawn to religious/philosophical beliefs and ideas that have to do with the occult, or darker sides of humanity.
Pluto: Things That Are Hidden - The Shadow - The Taboo - Long-Term Transformation
Pluto stays in a sign anywhere from 12-30 years depending on the speed it is moving. This is the generational planet.
Pluto in Virgo: Ruled by Mercury, Virgo is detail oriented, health conscious, and pragmatic. Pluto has to do with transformation, and Virgo Pluto transforms by analyzing the details of life - what works and what doesn’t - what needs to be changed and how that change can take place in a practical way. Relating back into Juken’s chart, Virgo is ruled by Mercury, therefore Juken’s Cancer Mercury comes into play. He will find transformation in his life by using practical means of communication - i.e. utilizing his communication style to express his beliefs and needs, and to meet the needs of others around him. Further, Cancer is ruled by the Moon and is present in his Sun - so his Leo Moon and Cancer Sun pull through with his Virgo Pluto to show a need for balance between strong, charged emotions and practical, analytical communication. He can find security in healthy expressions of emotions and needs.
Pluto was last in Virgo 1956-1972 and during this time there were a lot of pushes for societal restructuring especially around lifestyle structures. New lifestyle innovations gave people more options and flexibility to self-express away from the cookie cutter conformity of the first half of the 20th century. People born during this time continued to push alternative lifestyles and subcultures during their formative years in the 80s and 90s.
Overall
Ju-Ken thrives in environments where he can express himself creatively in a variety of ways with a variety of people. We see this clearly as he’s a member of multiple bands, each of which have distinctly different styles, and does support/session work for a variety of other artists all of which span a wide variety of styles/genres. From classic rock, to hard rock, to metal, to punk, to visual kei, to jazzy styles, to pop styles, and all areas in between. He’s a musical chameleon and this is honestly one of the things I admire the most about him as a fan! I absolutely love how varied he is and how seemingly effortlessly he flows among musical styles. He’s introduced me to so many artists and styles that I never would have considered before, and really expanded my musical palate. Therefore, I’m very glad that he found his niche and has been able to especially develop this part of himself through music. It’s truly wonderful~

TGCF fanon ships ranked from most to least canonical/plausible
Mu Qing/Feng Xin: this one is an obvious one. I’m not a fan but it’s two men who’ve known each other for hundreds of years and fight all the time. I can’t begrudge ppl who read sexual tension into that. It’s a natural ship
SQX/HX: basically inevitable even if I prefer the revenge thriller angle. The idea of captivity fueled by a deep grudge turning into love is bound to make fandom go crazy, and SQX is a fan favorite. I admire MXTX’s decision to leave that plot a mystery, and of course most fans went “they fucked”
YY/SH: plausible but again I find it more interesting in the canon version where it’s a complicated relationship marred with resentment
Ju Wun/Guoshi: obviously they do have a canon friendship but I was floored when I found out ppl shipped them. Like we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel here
Qi Rong/Lang Qianqiu: just goes to show that fandom will ship any two males it can gets its grubby little hands on. I’m surprised that this one has its own subfandom and would advise those people to seek help

Callisto (Voyage - Bit 2)
Tumblr media
Prologue Incident - Bit 1 | Bit 2 Fallout - Bit 1 | Bit 2 | Bit 3 Voyage - Bit 1 | Bit 2
As I continue to write the Prologue, have a little Lee Taylor and Jeff with some Johnny and Scott on the side.
As always, many, many thanks to @tsarinatorment @scribbles97 and @janetm74 for the ongoing support, as well as my technical advisor @onereyofstarlight for the geek out fest on the weekend ::hugs you all::
I hope you enjoy this. I’m certainly enjoying the challenge :D
-o-o-o-
Jeff stared after his son for a long moment. Emotion swirled in his head and tangled with his stomach. That lightspeed jump did mess with his innards more than he would admit.
But Virgil’s words messed him up even more.
What weren’t they telling him? What had happened to Scott while he was gone?
He had read a good percentage of the mission reports and backtracked through Tracy Industries’ history over that eight years. Scott’s conduct was exemplary. He couldn’t be prouder. Both organisations had flourished under his sons’ management, Scott being the major driving force, but his younger sons stepping in where needed.
Hell, even Gordon had dabbled in aquaculture and Tracy Industries was now a major player on that front.
Something soured in his gut that had nothing to do with lightspeed travel. Perhaps he needed to be a little more honest with himself. Maybe things had gone so well, that in truth, his return wasn’t really needed.
Scott was brilliant, his brothers…hell, Jeff was ever so proud. His sons were everything. They had accomplished so much.
But what did that leave for Jeff?
He cursed under his breath, disgusted with himself. His natural competitive tendencies did not need to be deployed against his own children.
But that vacant feeling of loss and lack of purpose swelled. He hadn’t even thought about not going on this mission. He had grabbed it like a lifeline and now, somehow, he had managed to alienate those brilliant young sons and caused pain and worry where he had no intention.
“Jeff? Where the hell are you?”
Lee.
Despite himself, Jeff smiled.
Pushing off from the bed, he floated through the door and into the corridor. Lee was expertly manoeuvring down one wall, his experience showing in every movement. “I have to say that this baby of yours definitely hits the spot. I’ll have two for the Mars colony, please.”
Jeff snorted. “Get in line. The GDF are already on my back.”
Lee pulled up alongside. “You gonna give them one?”
“I doubt it.” He sighed. “Val is ready to vouch, but from what I’ve read from the last eight years…I don’t think they can be trusted.”
“Then what are you going to do?” They drifted down the corridor towards the mess. “This technology is a great step forward.”
“Yeah. So much power, Lee. I’ve worried about the Thunderbirds getting into the wrong hands. This….hell…Brains and Michael make a formidable team.”
“Your boys make a formidable team, Jeff. You should be proud.”
“I am.”
Lee pulled him to a halt with a hand. “Then what the hell are you doing out here, Jeff? Gerry had me on the pipeline frantic.”
Jeff blinked. “Gerry?”
“The swimming one.”
“Oh, Gordon?”
Lee waved a hand dismissively. “Yeah, whatever. But he was upset. Said you were trying to kill yourself.”
“What?!”
“Said your health wasn’t up to a long space flight. I know you know better than that, Colonel.” Blue eyes pinned him.
Oh, for the love of-
“I’m fine, Lee.”
“Bullshit. You may not be using that cane of yours, but I saw your medical charts when you got back. You fried your bones good, and your circulation has seen better days. Don’t think I’m an idiot. Gerry may be the excitable one, but he’s not dumb. Hell, even I can see Vinnie and Steve ain’t happy either.”
Jeff stared at him, caught between outrage that his best friend still couldn’t remember his sons’ names and the thought that Lee was also ganging up on him along with those sons.
“I am perfectly capable of handling this voyage. It is short. It is safe.”
Lee snorted with derision. “I know you know that there is nothing ‘safe’ about any space voyage, Jeff. Hell, you’re the one who taught me that. What are you playing at?”
That got his back up. “What am I playing at? Berry and Ju are missing, Lee.”
“Don’t you trust your boys?”
“I trust them!”
“Then let them do their jobs. You’ve done enough.”
Jeff glared at him. “I don’t see you retiring your space legs.”
“I didn’t go missing for eight years and fry my bones. You don’t have to do this. Your boys will find Berry and Ju. I’ve seen them in action. You should trust them.”
Jeff’s shoulders dropped. “I do.” It was an exhale. But... “Lee, I have to. I can’t sit on the sidelines anymore.”
Blue eyes stared at him, appraising. They weren’t unlike his eldest son’s eyes and probably shared the gene through Lucille.
The thought of his wife clenched his heart like it always did. Lee didn’t look much like his sister, but there were traces.
“Well, you’ve argued your ass out here. Looks like you’ve pissed half your family off in the process. I’d tread carefully. That eldest of yours looks ready to chew iron.”
Jeff grunted.
Lee reached out and grabbed an arm. “They’re good boys.” A swallow. “Lucy would be very, very proud.”
It was targeted and it hit perfectly. His throat tightened just a little. “I know.”
No more than breath. “I know.”
-o-o-o-
“I want to know why.”
John looked up from his tablet to see Scott floating in the doorway.
The astronaut knew this was coming. Hence his retreat to Thunderbird Five for a ‘systems check’.
“Because Dad needs this.” He turned back to his tablet, poked the device and shut down the scan he was running.
Scott pushed off the door frame and pivoted to a vertical stance - as a commanding posture as he could get in zero-g.
John raised an eyebrow, but didn’t comment, forcing himself to relax in his partially seated position. He knew his brother was unhappy with him and he understood why. So, the question was a pertinent one.
“Dad does not need more illness and that is exactly where this is leading.”
“We won’t be out here that long.”
“How do you know? We don’t know what has happened? We won’t know fully until we are on site.”
John let his brother’s ire wash over him. “Scott, what are you going to do the day they say you can no longer fly?”
Blue eyes stared at him a moment. “What has that got to do with anything?”
John’s lips thinned. “Deny it all you want, but you know exactly what I mean.” He held his brother’s glare. “Dad has been grounded for nearly two years. Put yourself in his place. How do you think you would feel?”
He could see the inner turmoil on his big brother’s face. He hated going against Scott. It didn’t happen often, but it did happen and each time it hurt because it felt so wrong. Someone had to stand up for Dad in this and John feared the day he would be in his father’s place. To not be able to go into space. To never be able to see the stars unfettered by atmosphere again…he dreaded it. Just like he knew Scott dreaded losing his wings.
It was inevitable and they would both fight it as long as they could.
Just like their father.
But understanding didn’t make it any easier from a son’s perspective either. John knew in intimate detail exactly what his father’s health issues were. He empathised with him in ways that perhaps only Alan amongst his brothers could possibly understand. If he wasn’t careful, this was his future, too. Perhaps not as severe, perhaps not quite the same, but the risks were there.
His father’s cane reminded him every time he saw it.
Scott had already changed his rota on Five, Alan standing in more often, John on solid ground enough for cursed gravity to keep his systems running as they should.
Virgil had become hypervigilant as well, medical checks increased. He had once caught Dad’s chart up on display right next to his own, Virgil’s eyes comparing symptoms, obviously worried towards preventing issues before they happened in his little brother.
It had been a taxing couple of years.
“Okay, you’ve made your point.” It was grudging. “But it doesn’t remove the fact that his health is at risk. After all he’s been through…he’s been hurt enough.”
“Him or us?”
“Excuse me?”
“We have all been through hell and back. This isn’t just about Dad, Scott. I know. I’m just as scared as you.” He was, but he was shunting it away. He couldn’t afford it. “But this is who he is. You know that. He’s not going to wrap himself in a blanket, sit in a chair and rock his life away. If he did, he wouldn’t be Dad.” He blinked. “How do you see your twilight years? Are you going to slow down any time soon?”
“John-“
“He’s got all of us. He’s not alone out here. We’ll keep him safe.”
Blue eyes continued to stare at him, but there were no more words for a long time.
John simply stared back, calm and waiting.
“I am so angry at you.” The words slipped from his brother’s lips in frustration.
“I know.” John tilted his head just slightly. “Because you know I’m right.”
Scott got angry a lot, but he was rarely blinded by it. He couldn’t afford to be. And while Virgil tackled their big brother in his own way, John, in the few times Scott turned to him in this kind of situation, found that waiting him out with calm words usually worked. Not always, sometimes his brother just exploded more. But this time, this time John knew he was right and that Scott would understand, if he would listen.
His brother’s lips thinned, obviously with reluctance. “I want a medical monitor on him at all times. I want Five trained on him at all times.”
John arched an eyebrow, reached over and thumbed a switch. Their father’s vitals flickered into all their holographic glory. “Virgil already beat you to it. Wouldn’t let him on board without it.”
Those eyes tracked the readouts but Scott didn’t comment. “Keep an eye on him.”
John sighed and picked up his tablet again. As if he would do anything else. “Just like I do with all of you. They don’t call me the ‘Eye in the Sky’ for nothing.”
A grunt and Scott moved back towards the door. John poked at his tablet and resumed the scan he had been running. It wasn’t often humans were in this chunk of space and he planned to record everything he could.
If he was non-verbally dismissing his brother, it was on purpose. Scott needed to process and John was not needed for that.
And John had work to do before they jumped again.
He didn’t notice his brother leave.

NCT 127 Compatibility Reading
you are most compatible with Taeyong!
Tumblr media
*   *·.   ° °• ✦   . · ☆ .  .·* ·. •  • °✷  *
Trine – Sun & Moon
For starters, both of your Sun signs are Water signs, so his Cancer Sun trines your Pisces Sun! This means you will have an instant connection and will be able to relate to each other. Additionally, your Moon signs trine each other, so you can also relate to each other on an emotional level! The way you feel and express your emotions are similar and compliment each other! You would feel comfortable speaking about your feelings and will find comfort in one another.
Taeyong’s Leo Moon also trines your Aries Mercury and Venus. This is great because you two would feel comfortable and happy when talking with each other, and your emotional communication is smooth. You will be able to talk about what you want from a relationship and how you feel about it. You have similar ideas and ways of thinking and will like doing creative things together!
Sextile – Mercury & Venus
Mr TY Track has his Mercury and Venus both in Gemini, which sextile your Mercury and Venus in Aries! Gemini and Aries are a great combo, since they both need a lot of stimulation in a relationship and will be able to give that to each other. Whether it comes to communication or romantic aspects, you two will be complimenting each other and have fun spending time together. Your styles of communicating will be similar and it is unlikely for you two to experience misunderstandings. You can resolve your conflicts relatively easily and like exploring ideas together.
Your Venus Sextile suggests that you two have similar ideas of a relationship and have similar tastes and interests. Spending time together would be great fun for you and you’d relate to each other’s romantic wants and needs. Gemini and Aries know how to keep the other on their toes.
Sextile – Mars
Your Mars is in Scorpio, which off the bat already trines Taeyong’s Sun in Cancer. This means he can identify with the way you take action and pursure your goals in life. This is a very beneficial aspect and promotes the attraction between you two! Taeyong will like supporting you and help you get to your desired goals!
Your Mars also sextiles his in Virgo, which means you have similar passions and desires. You can relate to each other’s way to work towards your goals and each other’s drives will be attractive to you. The physical energy between you two will be smooth and you both know how to make the other angry (and hopefully avoid that). Virgo and Scorpio are a great combo because they both have an eye for details and can stay calm when conflicts occur. You are both more likely to talk it out rather than hold a grudge (this would apply more to Virgo than Scorpio I’m sorry lol. You guys like to hold a grudge sometimes).
Overall, I think you two would have great potential for a relationship! You two know how to keep the other happy and will be able to comfort but also surprise the other. Your placements suggest that you will love spending time together and have great attraction (you also have the same Juno sign ;) ). This would be a smooth and fun union.

disclaimer:
of course there are a lot more aspects to consider when doing synastry. but considering that would be a tad too long to do here - i just sort out the aspects that are the most striking to me. also - there is no “perfect” synastry. it would be nearly impossible to do a synastry without finding some disharmonious aspects. this is simply my interpretation of the most prominent aspects between the two charts. also astrology is a purely theoretical concept, you should always take these readings as interpretations. we, of course, don’t know these idols personally and this is all speculation based on their and your natal charts.

At the Edge of Nowhere
(( So, guess who went ahead and scratched that crazy itch I got yesterday? Yep, Scotty did. It turned in a small fic instead of a drabble, since apparently I had more to play out than I initially thought, but...here it is. I took the chance to experiment a bit with the writing style too, while I was at it, ‘cause...why not? ))
(( I’m not really sure of where the idea came from, I just really wanted them to have interact, somehow, without inventing something too complicated. And this was the result. Also, it doesn’t mean that I won’t try to shove Five into John’s universe or vice versa at some point, but for now I’m good with this xD ))
(( Sharing just in case anyone is in the mood for some random oddity! ))
(( I even posted in on Ao3 if anyone wants to have a look at it there! ^^” ))
They sit side by side, watching the eternal sunset of Eternity stretching before them, swinging their feet past the edge of the Abyss, unfazed by the danger of its depths. The darkness seems to be threatening to suck them down, condemning them to an endless fall, and yet they pay it no mind, each of them far too interested in sipping and enjoying his drink.
The silence floods past them, over them, through them, carrying the whispers of their lives. However, for this ephemeral moment, they are given the almost unique chance to ignore them. It’s a rare gift, one that deserved to be savoured, like a fine well-aged vintage. Like the ambrosia that the ancient gods, legit and false, so much have lauded.
And so they sit, the Boy and the Fool, side by side, on the edge of the Abyss.
The atmosphere is almost companionable, as much as it can be when shared by two strangers who carry with them too much baggage. A past and a present that are too dark, too painful. There’s as much kinship and understanding between them as there’s mistrust.
They let the quietness linger for a while, listening only to the taste of the alcohol that coats their tongues, knowing that the stasis won’t last. Neither of them is good at keeping his mouth shut when something is making their skin itch.
“Th’ ‘ell ‘s a lad like yeh doin’ in such a place?” The Fool finally asks, turning his eyes away from the magnetic horizon and landing them on his unlikely companion.
The Boy scoffs. Why is it always the same old story with everyone he meets? “I’d watch my fucking tongue if I were you, young man,” he shoots back, with a withering look. “I’m far older than I look. And I’m older than you for sure.”
A half laugh rises with a small cloud of smoke, but it dies in the matter of seconds as the seriousness of those declarations settles in.
“Blimey. Yeh ain’t pullin’ me leg, are yeh? ‘Ow old are yeh s’posed to be den, mate?”
“Do I look like I’m kidding? Trust me, mate, I’m not. I’m fifty-eight. And I’m stuck in the body of a thirteen-years-old. There’s nothing funny about it.”
“Bloody ‘Ell. Fifty-eight n’ still a lad? Tha’s...insane. I dun envy yeh. Nay.”
The Fool shakes his head, but, despite the lingering astonishment, there is a glint of amusement in his eyes. “Tell us, tho. Woh’s yeh secret? I gots me diabolical trick to slow down agin’ n’ all, but it obviously ain’t workin’ as well as yehs.”
“I got stuck in the future for forty-five years and, when I finally figured out the equation to go back to my time, I missed a typo and...this is the result.”
“Soddin’ math. ‘S one o’ th’ bloody reasons why I ne’er managed to get alchemy rite. T’in’s keep blowin’ up in me face.”
“Sodding math indeed. Cheers.”
“Cheers.”
They clink their glasses together and go back staring at the frozen skyline. Two sets of blue eyes. Different shades of the iris, similar heaviness burdening them.
The Boy steers his drink with his straw, lips pursing pensively. “Speaking of things that suck, what is this place exactly? Am I dreaming? Or did I accidentally take some of my brother’s drugs and this is like the most boring trip in history?”
The Fool scoffs. “Gonna pretend tha’ yeh didn’t jus’ insult me too, together wit’ dis soddin’ place.”
His gaze wanders for a split moment, touching their motionless surroundings. “Ah, I dunno, mate. Could be yeh dream, aye. Could be mine. Or maybe we bot’ stepped inside another real wit’out noticin’ n’ ‘ere we are. Wouldn’t be th’ first time for me. Won’t be th’ last either.”
“I’ve never been in another world. I’ve travelled through time, maybe a bit too much, and I’ve rushed through the fabric of space but this…” The Boy waves his free hand. “This is new. It’s easier to think of it as a dream, so I’d go with that, if you don’t mind. The last thing I need is another headache.”
“Wohe’er works wit’ yeh, mate. I get it. At times, ‘s be’er pretendin’ life ain’t real. ‘S good for yeh mental sanity. Even if yeh got none left.”
The Fool takes yet another drag from his cigarette. Curiously enough, it doesn’t seem to be shortening, even if the ash falls down on his trench coat.
“One t’in’ I can tell yeh ‘bout dis place, tho. It ain’t somewhere e’eryone can visit. Yeh gotta carry some serious shite wit’ yeh to ‘ave stumbled in ‘ere. Do yeh?”
The Boy shrugs. “Maybe? I kept pushing and pushing, even after my father had told me not to and I ended up after the End of the world. I heard the bastard’s voice echoing in my head for the past forty-five years.” He makes his voice thicker for a moment. “I told you so, boy. I told you so. Asshole.”
A long sip from his drink, as if he is trying to wash away that intrusive voice from his ears, before he continues.
“I worked for this organisation that monitors the timeline for a while as a trained assassin. They made me into the perfect killer, a tool for their plans. I had my goals, though, since the start. I took their deal just so that I could go back to try to stop the Apocalypse and save my family. We ended up breakin the world anyway, so I dragged them all back in time to try again. Of course, all that shit followed us. Because it’s never that easy, is it?”
The Fool nods and the Boy can tell that his companion knows that sort of feeling far too well. It’s nice to be fully understood, for once. Even if the understanding comes from a nameless stranger he’ll probably never see again. Assuming that their meeting is truly happening in the first place.
“So...We saved the world this time but broke the timeline. And now my childhood home is gone and me and my siblings are stuck in a timeline that holds no place for us anymore. I’m still trying to figure out how that’s supposed to work. Oh, and that bastard of my adoptive father is hunting us down using the kids he adopted in our place. It’s a real mess.”
There’s bitterness colouring his voice, the embers of a fight that’s too stubborn to die just yet, but the exhaustion is stronger.
“Though, between you and me...All I really want is a decent nap and a dozen more drinks. Maybe get a dog too. Not necessarily in that order.”
The straw produces a light slurping sound as he takes the next sip. “What’s your story? You must have one too, since you’re here...wherever here is.”
The Fool tips his head, in a sign of acknowledgement. No comments follow the tale, and there’s no real need for them there, out of time and space.
“Grew up in me own particular version o’ ‘Ell. Me oul man was th’ fuckin’ opposite o’ ‘father o’ th’ year’...So, I ran in my teen years, still thinkin’ I coulda owned th’ world. Stuck me nose in e’ery bloody t’in’ tha’ was magic n’ occult. One nite I got too cocky and damned an innocent girl to Hell. Earned a bloody place wit’ me name down there too in the process.”
The voice that spells out the words is casual, but there’s something haunted in his expression, darkening his eyes.
“Spent all me life tryin' to make up for tha’ bloody mistake. Ended up messin up meself and most o’ me mates n’ th’ people who ‘ad th’ ‘orrible o’ puttin’ their faith in me as a result. Girl’s still in ‘Ell, th’ bloody Devil ‘imself gots an eternal grudge against me, I gots demon blood in me veins n’ me soz arse ‘s still damned. I might not be a professional like yeh, but I bet I gots jus’ as much blood on me ‘ands. N’ even more souls on me conscience.”
The ice clinks against the transparent walls as the glass is lifted. More sourness to wipe away the one that the words have left on his tongue.
“Nowadays, ‘s mostly me, meself n’ I. Me best mate, too, from time to time. No clue o’ ‘ow he survived bein’ by me side for so long. ‘M still tryin’ to make t’in’s rite, but...for th’ most I jus’ try to be there to do th’ bloody dirty job no self-appointed ‘ero gots th’ time to do. I might be lost, past th’ point o’ no return, but there are lots o’ people out there who aren’t yet. Th’ fuckin’ least I can do ‘s tryin’ to ‘elp ‘em, aye? Make dis soz existence o’ mine wort’ more than misery n’ destruction.”
A drag from his cigarette and there’s a small hand landing on his shoulder, in a brief pat, before he has finished sucking the smoke in. The light pressure says more than a thousand words could.
“Between you and me, tho...I could use a dozen drinks too. Maybe more. N’ a bloody vacation. To sod off somewhere, even for jus’ a day. Maybe take me best mate n’ dis other lad I know. Oh, he could use a break too, th’ poor sod.”
The Boy makes a sound of agreement and he is back stirring his drink. “What a pair we make, you and I. And I don’t even know you.”
“I ‘ear tha’ loud n’ clear, mate. Bloody loud n’ bloody clear. Woh’s tha’ yeh drinkin’ anyway?”
“What? You ne’er seen a margarita? Where the hell are you from? England or Mars? Come on, try it.”
“Oi, I know woh a fuckin’ margarita is, oul man. Yehs jus’ a bit...flashier than woh ‘m used to.”
“Special recipe. I perfected it myself.”
“Now, tha’s more like it. I like a bloke who can make ‘is own drinks. There. Yeh like g n’ t?”
The glasses pass from one hand to another and then they both turn to look back at the unchanged horizon, holding each other’s drink.
A moment to sniff the liquors, in unison, and then the Boy dips his lips in the clear spirit while the Fool wraps his mouth around the straw. The tastes mix in the silence and it’s a symphony of citrus and sourness, with just the right amount of sweetness coming at the end.
“So, what happens now?” The Boy asks, after a moment.
The Fool shrugs. “Ah, I guess we wait till all dis fades. Or till we do. ‘S always ‘ard to tell when it comes to dis sort o’ shite.”
A huffs, with the faintest hint of irritation. “For someone who’s supposed to know a lot about this stuff, you give the worst cryptic answers. I can’t tell if you’re that ignorant or if you’re just fucking with me.”
A nudge in a smaller, slender side and a sharp smirk. “Who knows, mate. Yeh guess ‘s as good as mine. Keep th’ drink. I gots more back where I come from. Consider it a safe trip back home present. I’ll keep yehs as a reminder.”
“A present from a guy I never truly met? And a reminder of something we didn’t even speak about?”
“Nay. Jus’ th’ memory o’ some peace n’ quiet in decent company.”
“Fair enough. I can drink to that.”

Happy October!!!!
In honor of my favourite month, October, I'll be posting a movie, horror icon/character, or mytholgical/folklore creature everyday that puts me in that fun and spooky mood leading up to Halloween 🎃🎃👻💀👻🎃🎃
October 8th...
Kayako and Toshio Saeki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Ju-On series began in 1998 with the short films Katasumi and 4444444444, directed by Takashi Shimizu. The first two installments, Ju-On: The Curse 1 and 2 were direct to Japanese video in 2000. The films gained popularity and in 2002, Ju-On: The Grudge was theatrically released in Japan and premiered at the October 2002 Screamfest Film Festival. Shimizu went on to make Ju-On: The Grudge 2 in 2003.
Tumblr media
The tragic fate and history of Kayako and Toshio Saeki is shown in 2000 Ju-On:The Curse. Takeo Saeki murders his wife Kayako when he discovers her journal and her hidden feelings for a former male acquaintance. On top of killing the family cat Mar, it's not quite specified if he actually murdered their son Toshio. Personally, I always felt he left Toshio alone, hiding in a closet and Toshio died from shock and starvation. Possibly an accident and he drowned in tub, or his father did murder him and it's not shown or hinted as to how. Takeo Saeki did not stop there, he brutally murders the wife and unborn child of the man Kayako was secretly in love with, furthering the rage to other locations infecting all those in the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of these rage filled murders create a curse. It revives the family as onryō with Kayako’s ghost murdering her husband Takeo. (onryō are a type of vengeful ghost. I will be doing a highlight on the folklore soon for October.)
Tumblr media
Everyone who lives or enters the house in Nerima, Tokyo will eventually be consumed by the curse. The curse then spreads to the place they die in and in turn consumes anyone who goes there. This is a very intricate series and told out of sequence making it all the more fun piecing together. The make up is simple and wasn't heavy in cgi, until the American versions in 2004, and the later Japanese continuations. I have enjoyed the more recent movies, but I'm a fan moreso of the original short films and the first 4 directed by Shimizu. Creepy, atmospheric and a horrifying story.

@oboete-iru // RANGIKU.
❝ Ne, Gin —- the other day Abarai-fukutaichō mentioned that you said some pretty awful things to Kuchiki-fukutaichō, back when she was on trial. He didn't go into specifics, but it was clearly something they were both holding a grudge about. You should really apologize to Kuchiki-fukutaichō -— especially since you're trying to make amends with everyone now that you're reinstated. ❞
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TRUTH BE TOLD, GIN HADN’T REALLY THOUGHT BACK ON THE INCIDENT WITH HIMSELF AND RUKIA ON THAT BRIDGE, breaking her resolve hadn’t managed to outrun the daunting shadow of his subsequent official betrayal of Soul Society. If Gin had to attest to his morality in the face of his actions against the young Kuchiki girl, he’d outright deny any presence of such morals. HE HAD BEEN CRUEL, NEEDLESSLY SO, and no matter what justification or reasoning existed in the mind of a villain, their acts were still, indeed, villainous. Gin wouldn’t waste his breath working circles around the matter; he’d admit his wrongdoing.
However, he also had to admit that he couldn’t have cared less for this, in a cold numb kind of way, a way he knew was also wrong. RUKIA HADN’T EVER LIKED HIS PRESENCE, and that was long before he hammered the final nail into that coffin of her dislike by shattering her will. The only reason Gin felt anything at all was due to the fact that he was being specifically asked to consider an apology. Part of, most likely, his lifelong journey to unlearn his toxic methods, his detachment from others. In his own mind, the reality was that he felt little remorse -— considering he had broken her resolve to die, Gin felt the nature of this was up for debate, at least. Nonetheless, it would be simpler, either way, if he merely followed Rangiku’s advice. SHE WAS RIGHT, BUT ... THE WAY THAT RENJI BROUGHT THIS UP TO RANGIKU FELT, TOO, WRONG.
❝ Seems a bit strange... him tellin’ you that instead’a comin’ to me, like he’s wantin’ you to feel bad about it too. He could talk to me ‘bout it, I ain’t bitin’ anybody anymore. ❞
A deep sigh breathed out into the paused air, the hesitant thought, a deep consideration marring his brow. Normally, he’d keep quiet about his mulling and be done with it, smile, wave her off, and carry on. But he knew better than to sink into the muddied pit of his old methods now, right in view of her, whilst being asked to face his mistake. Poor form, if he did such a thing. Rangiku deserved openness, especially now when confronting him on the matter of a side of himself she hadn’t seen.
Gin opened his mouth, thought for a moment, then closed it. Yet rather than run from his confusion, his hesitance, he embraced it openly. To show her that he was trying. The captain quietly turned to properly face her, sat straightened, tucked his hand into his sleeve and hummed out another thought.
❝ ——— I’m havin’ trouble thinkin’ of what I’d say. Doesn’t feel right, jus’ sayin’  “ sorry ”  ‘bout it all. Didn’t feel right with Izuru, either, but he’s too nice to tell me to my face that he still needs more time. How would you do it — if somebody swore y’hurt’em so bad, an’ you did somethin’ terrible... you’ve done nothin’ to make’em think anythin’ better of you, you got no right sayin’ sorry with any kinda implication of gettin’ forgiveness... it’s THAT BAD... —— how would you apologize without it soundin’ fake ‘n just bringin’ up more pain for them ? ❞
Another pause, and Gin at last relented to the more avoidant nature, the recoil, the subtle smile worn and never reaching his eyes.
❝ Besides, I doubt she wants to ever see my face again. I don’t blame’er. ❞

*chinhands* so tell me about guinevere being gay and doing crimes in space
There are three rules that an e-space* Navigator lives by:
Know who you are
Know where you’re going
Know where home is (just in case)
*“espace”, more often; hyphens don’t survive casual parlance; it’s short for “extra-space” because scientists aren’t always good at naming things. just thank god for the one physicist who raised an early objection to “subspace”, even though in early models of layered reality, what came to be known as “espace” was, indeed, below our space.)
The third is easiest, because it’s drilled into every recruit from the second they’re brought to the Lighthouse - which is usually at an age so young they’ll forget having lived anywhere else before. There might be an official name for the headquarters of the Navigators’ Guild on paperwork somewhere, but inside the space station’s halls and outside it, on every ship and planet and empty space between stars in the galaxy, it’s the Lighthouse. There’s a general understanding of why: it’s where navigators call home, where they can look to for aid and succor when the seas turn rough, in this space and the other.
Most people don’t understand, though. Because most people are not navigators: they have never stayed awake while every other mind in the ship was sent very carefully and very deeply into sleep, while the ship passed across a crackling boundary between this reality and another. They have never held themselves together in a world where up was not quite down because neither of those terms applied, where colors were tastes were neither, where time and space were both only suggestions, and the map is a matter of focus in your mind.
You are lost as the default, in espace. Or, “lost” isn’t a term that applies, because all reference points are only in your mind, and if you don’t have your destination absolutely clear, you will be lost in the metaphorical sense as well as not quite the literal. So the politer, more bureaucratic line is that navigators (orphans, usually) are taken in so that their training can begin as early as possible, the truest truth is that it is so that when they begin their training, they will have somewhere to come back to. (Their very secretive training; it’s not, allegedly, sink or swim, but the Guild protects the secret of how it trains its navigators more closely than it guards anything.) So that no matter what, if they lose track of their destination - too unfamiliar, or even unwanted - they can always remember the Lighthouse. The bunkbeds and warm corridors of the dormitories; the creatively placed asteroid ring, more for agility practice in dart-fliers than anything else; the iconic long body of the station itself, modeled half-seriously after a lighthouse of old (symbols can matter in espace), floating amidst darkness and a starry background, the nearest planet several standard-orbits away for the sake of autonomy…the navigator’s last and truest port in a storm.
The earlier a young navigator-to-be can fix that in their heart, so surely that they’ll know the exact moment its closest, to fire the engines to make the jump back, the more likely they are to, indeed, return home.
The second has been touched on! Navigation in espace is a matter of focus and knowledge, intuition, sense of the shape of a world without shape and essence of a world - or rather, a very specific part of a world - in which its rarely manifest. Many navigators dabble in art of some kind - painting, sculpture, crochet, poetry - because it helps them capture what cannot otherwise be captured. Or maybe so much time in espace means they can’t help but see this world differently as well, and need an outlet…opinions differ. Among navigators. Person to person, you know?
Anyway, because of this quirk of interstellar travel, most planets have, gloriously from a worldbuilding perspectively, entirely in-canon motivation to have highly specific unique traits. The easier a planet or station is to remember, itself and only itself, the less likely ships are to be lost on the way to it. So there’s a planet in Alpha Centauri renowned for its deserts, and its annual global competition, bringing thousands of would-be bakers, confectioners, and more each year. There’s a space station circling Rigel where every citizen proudly gets a new tattoo each year, and so does the station itself, vast stenciled artworks commissioned by the ruling council and drawn by artists in space suits. There’s old Red Mars itself, now more a tourist trap than anything but still just as proudly rust-colored, the closest any interstellar ship is allowed to the nature reserve of Earth.
So, know where you’re going, because going back to the Lighthouse gets you safe, but it doesn’t get you paid. The Guild cares for its navigators, it really truly does…on average. But there are bureaucrats and business managers in there, too, and they know they’re sitting on the galaxy’s most valuable monopoly.
And first: know who you are. Nothing in espace is real the way it is in standard space, including the self. Don’t worry about the crew or the passengers, or even the materiality of the ship itself - the ship AI will keep track of them, as well as of time as it should be passing. Nothing determinedly holds to numerical time like a digital mind. They’ll keep track of the navigator’s physicality as well - that’s what the biotagging chip is for. But most navigators do some sort of dance, martial art, or other exercise as well, to give themselves a better sense of, well, themselves - it’s always good to have a backup. Any passengers and crew are so unconscious that they may as well be inanimate, which is why an AI can keep track of them jus fine - the navigator, of course, is awake for the whole voyage.
So, the woman who in another life might be named Guinevere…
Her first name is Djinn, because a lot of navigator orphans are named after mythical creatures or heroes, from one culture or another, that can fly. A lot others are named after mythical heroes or creatures known for sight. The people in charge of children at the Lighthouse are a bunch of nerds, really, or they were once, and tradition stuck.
Her last name is probably Navigator, because being named after your profession is as old as civilization, and there are fewer things its easy to be proud of than being an official Guild-licensed navigator. You get to choose a surname when you get your license, and like many before her, Djinn chose that.
Once a navigator has their license, they’re more or less loosed unto the galaxy, if they want to be. You’re welcome to work as an independent contractor, so long as you still pay your percentage back to the guild of every navigating fee, and don’t undercharge the Guild minimum.
Djinn elected not to do that, actually. She wanted to travel, of course, to fly, to spend as much time as possible in hte giddy twistedness of espace. But she didn’t want to manage her own business, and she didn’t mind the Guild taking a little higher percentage to have jobs lined up for her. And she was good, oh, she was good, so it wasn’t long before she was flying precious cargos and even passenger ships - small ones, to start, and not particularly pricey (not used by the affluent, that is, who would pay more for a more experienced navigator, with more successful trips under their belt). But still, a very promising career, and she was comfortable.
She always has a sketchbook, luxurious paper so she can save or destroy the drawings as she wants, rather than wipe them clean from a laminate. Physical rather than digital, because she’s drawing this world, she says, so it has to have real mass - but she almost only ever uses pale colors. Bright things, she saves for paint, when she has time and space and money for an easel, and that art is twisting and bright and incomprehensible to everyone but a fellow navigator - and even then, most understand what she means, but now how she’s representing it. No one really experiences espace the same way.
She’s short of stature and of hair, skin probably #C26604-ish? and walks with a dreaminess in her eyes and the confidence of someone who knows she’s weird - as most navigators do. Also, definitely practices some science fiction equivalent of judo. Has slightly more energy than she needs at any given moment, and when she decides to move fast, will do so. Physically, emotionally, and in terms of decision-making - will put off decisions if they’re unpleasant, but will make them quickly if they’re not, and commit 100%. Stubborn or determined, however you want to phrase it; holds grudges…but if pushed to reconsider something, will do so, and will willingly change her mind. Often in the 100% opposite direction from before.
(It’s hazardous to go into espace unsure of what you want in life.)
Also, she’s not actually a licensed navigator anymore, by Guild rule. See, I said she was good, right? Really good? So, most navigators have a seat on the bridge - they don’t really need to be there, but it feels right - and that’s where they stay for the duration of the espace journey. Easier to focus if you don’t need to move, don’t need to think about anything but where to go and when (”when” maintained by the ship’s clocks) exactly to make the jump back to get there. There are probably IV tubes and catheters and everything, because it can be a several subjective hours sometimes, and better safe than sorry.
But Djinn was good, oh, she was really good, and she didn’t need that stuff. She didn’t want that stuff. Always a little more energy than necessary for the moment, remember? So her knee jiggled, and that was fine. She stood and stretched, and that was fine. She paced the bridge, alone save for the AI, and thought about the swirling patterns on the outer skin of that one station, or the best donut she’d ever tasted on that one planet (she always wanted to be more of a sweet tooth than she actually was.)
None of this was per regulation, but it was the sort of thing that got comfortably ignored by the Guild, if you admitted it - and you were encouraged to, for your own safety as a navigator and that of your ship, and in the interest of more data gained about espace travel. And then not reported on to whoever’d chartered the navigator, so long as the nav was back in their seat by the end and got the ship to its destination just fine, because what the layperson didn’t know couldn’t hurt them.
But, well…
It doesn’t get much harder to hold yourself and everything under your care together as they are the longer you’re in espace - additionally, but not multiplicatively, much less exponentially. Time and space still function in a way, so trips between this planet and that are known to have a certain average amount of time, but it’s flexible. If a navigator can confidently know themselves through, and the ship AI has a confident grasp on everything else, there’s no reason she shouldn’t pause in her destination-seeking, or at least not focus quite so hard, and just…wander the ship for a while. See the sights (that aren’t quite, here.) Enjoy the upsideways-tasting sensations.
So, Djinn met an AI with whom she really got along, did a couple trips in a row on that ship specifically, and then talked them into covering for her while she stole stuff from the passengers. More for fun than anything, honestly. But she got…well, she got caught, mostly, more than she got anything particularly valuable (probably?). (She got away with it like a dozen times, first, though.) And stealing from passengers while traveling through espace, while nearly unprecedented, is illegal by the laws of every place of origin she flew from…which is what applies on-ship until the destination is reached, by interstellar law.
More importantly, it was against Guild rules. They claimed precedent, because the Navigators’ Guild looks after its own, so Djinn wasn’t imprisoned anywhere. But her license was revoked for 7 years.
We meet her sometime in year 4, maybe 5 of that probably, I think on the equivalent of Jackson’s Whole.

Do you recommend any other good kdramas?! I need a list while in isolation lmao might as well get my kdrama watch on
i don’t know what you’ve watched or what you’re watching so i’m just gonna list my favorites
these are in no particular order
Hospital Playlist (currently airing)
a slice of life drama with an amazing cast and incredible writing, the five friends will make you want to be a part of their group, it has been a while since i’ve seen such a well written drama and characters
Prison Playbook
same writer as hospital playlist so it is equally as good. it revolves around a few inmates in a prison and their life behind bars, it’s lighthearted but it shows the dark side of prison too, i really recommend it, the cast is spectacular
Fight for my way
if you’re a slut for friends to lovers trope and coming of age, this is for you. park seo joon is always a win and i have a soft spot for him playing the underdog. this drama also revolves around 4 friends and them trying to achieve their dreams
Class of lies
this drama was criminally underrated. a lawyer goes undercover as a teacher in a school to try to uncover the murder of a student. it was really intense and very good acting from everyone. yoon gyun sang was a snarky bitch and i was loving it
Extraordinary you
if you haven’t heard about this then you’ve been living under a rock probably. the characters of a manga become self aware and try to change their story that the writer set for them, it also has past lives trope and rowoon’s visuals
Catch the ghost
this drama is just
ko ji seok: yoo ryung no
yoo ryung: YOO RYUNG YES
and they fall in love. but seriously it’s super adorable
Black
a girl who sees grim reapers. a grim reaper who posesses her childhood friend’s body. they fall in love, but it’s tragic
Designated survivor 60 days
an adaptation of the american drama with the same name, but it’s infinitely better because ji jin hee and son seok ku are in it. at first i didn’t think i would like a political drama but it was so well written and the cast was so amazing i was obsessed
Life on mars
jung kyung ho falls into a coma and travels back to the 80s where he has to solve crimes even though his profession is originally a CSI. their dynamic with park sung woong was amazing
Memories of the alhambra
lots of people have a grudge with this one but personally i really enjoyed it. hyun bin gets his hands on a virtual reality game that later turns out to be very dangerous. also exo’s chanyeol is there
Stove league
just like with designated survivor, i didn’t think i’d like a drama about baseball, but it quickly became one of my favorites ever. the magic of good writing. nam goong min is tasked so destroy an already dying baseball team but he goes rouge and he wants to save them instead
The fiery priest
one of the funniest dramas i have ever seen. an NIS agent turned priest who constantly beats up people and curses at them? dear lord this was amazing.
Strangers from hell
if you like thrillers then definitely watch this one. i didn’t think lee dong wook could be this creepy and hot at the same time but i was proven wrong. im siwan moves into a studio the occupants of which are all psychopath murderers while he has to deal with the intense pressure from living with these people and everyone constantly looking down on him in his life
Two cops
kim seon ho posesses ju sung suk’s body? more likely than you think
Weightlifting fairy kim bok joo
perfect. just so good. she’s a weightlifter. he’s a swimmer. they fall in love and become everyone’s favorite couple. worth the watch
While you were sleeping
lee jong suk, suzy and jung hae in see each other’s future through their dreams. intense sls. i loved it.
Save me
seo ye ji gets roped into a cult after she loses her twin brother so taecyeon and woo do hwan are set to break her out of there. it’s incredibly intense but I LOVED IT SO MUCH because every character is just so smart and don’t make obvious and stupid mistakes. the writing is increcible in this
there’s a lot more i could recommend but we’d be here all day

From the Fifty Ways To Kiss Someone Prompts
10. …desperately
ft. Trey x Dorian (Dragon Age)
“It’s a strange sort of place, isn’t it?” Dorian strode forward and rapped on the icy cavern wall with the point of his staff.
“Easy with that thing,” Trey teased. Dorian felt the weight of the elf’s hand across his shoulders as he clanked by. “You don’t want to bring this whole place down on us.”
“Ha. If I did, would we be free from needed to go further in?”
Trey chuckled as he strode away, but didn’t answer.
The frozen cave the Inquisitor had led them into was not only so frigid it hurt to breathe, but it was damned narrow too. Quite frankly, it made him nervous to think of delving deeper into it at all. One never knew what they might find. And if Dorian wasn’t going to be paid quite handsomely in his tent for this later when they returned to camp, he would have never agreed to follow Trey along on this little sight setting spree. He would have much preferred sitting beside a fire, thawing out frozen fingers around a mug of steaming tea, and perhaps with the handsome Inquisitor himself curled around him as well. Just the thought sent a delightful shiver down his spine. He made a mental note to make that part of his bargain as well.
Just a few more days, Dorian told himself. A few more days and they’d be done with the Emprise du Lion and then he would make Trey swear to never bring him back.
CRACK!
Dorian stumbled back from the rubble falling from the ceiling to his right. His arms went over his head but as fast as it had come, it was over, and the last few stones pelted him, leaving stinging welts where they hit. Coughing and spluttering, he couldn’t see past the swirling dust as welled up from the cavern floor.
“Amatus?!” He hacked his lungs out as soon as the word was spoken, but it didn’t stop him. “Treysomel!”
Dorian rushed towards the wall of collapsed ice and rubble and fell to his knees. Magic thrummed beneath his skin and sparks began to spit around his hands as he grabbed every piece of rock he could reach and flung them carelessly behind him.
When one of them hit something metal.
“Ow.”
His head snapped around so fast, he could have broken his neck, but there, crumpled to his left, was the dusty but unmistakable shape of the Inquisitor.
“Amatus,” Dorian practically sobbed. He scrambled to Trey’s side as the elf groaned and shook shards of ice from his hair.
Pulling the other man into him, Dorian crushed his lips against Trey’s, ignoring the grit and ignoring the muffled protest. Maker blast him, he was just so thankful Trey hadn’t been beneath the cave in. Nothing tasted as sweet as the Inquisitor’s lips on his, nothing.
Trey pushed Dorian off of him and turned his head to dry cough on his hands and knees. Dorian rubbed his back, fretting to himself until the elf could speak.
“I told you not to bring this place down on us,” he choked, “ but would you listen? Noooo. Someone has to poke everything with his staff…”
“Kaffas. I’ll poke you with my staff you no good, son of a–”
Trey interrupted the slew of obscenities Dorian had intended to hurl with his beautiful mouth and Dorian decided that this time he wouldn’t chide him for his rudeness.
36. To give up control
ft. ( @angle0fthegourd‘s favorite OC ship of mine) Space!AU Trey x Vonauk, my Vulcan OC (Starfinder? Technically??)
The shuttlecraft’s lights were turned down as low as they could go in order to conserve power. There was no telling how long it might take the rest of their party to discover the fact that Vonauk and Treysomel were missing from the ship, and perhaps even more time for them to find the shuttlecraft in question. There was ample time to quantify every possible solution to their current predicament. Vonauk had gone over the calculations in their head more times than they could count. Each time, the chances of their survival were slim to none. It would be a close call on whether they would run out of emergency rations or atmosphere first, and an even closer call on which fate would be worse to endure.
Treysomel sighed from his seat beside Vonauk at the command console. In quick succession, his long tinkerer’s fingers typed out a command code before the holographic console powered down entirely. Vonauk’s own hands paused in the air where their own console had just been moments before as Treysomel unbuckled himself from his seat. "It’s a lost cause no matter which way you figure it,” the elf mumbled. “No sense beatin’ around the bush.”
Vonauk dropped his hands to the bulkhead. “No cause is truly lost. If I recalibrate our communications relay and divert power from all nonessential systems, I should be able to maximize the range of our–”
“Give it up, will ya!” Treysomel snapped.
Vonauk arched a slanted eyebrow at him. “While it’s logical to have such an adverse reaction in the face of–”
“Of certain death?”
They frowned. “Our death is not certain yet, Treysomel.”
“Maybe not yours,” Treysomel replied roughly, running his hands through his already mussed auburn hair. He’d been half tearing it out for hours. “But I reckon mine is. Maybe you can live. I’m sure there’s some Vulcan way you can conserve your body’s energy, live for a while without food or maybe even air, but I sure as hells can’t. I’m done for sittin’ out here.”
“Your friends may find us yet.”
Treysomel’s ears flattened close to the side of his head as he considered, and Vonauk watched the play of emotions over the elf’s face in undisguised fascination. Hope, confusion, resignation, fear. Even distraught as he was, he was more beautiful than he had a right to be. Which made the fact he was correct all the worse. Eventually, he leaned back into the seat’s headrest and let his face turn towards theirs. “Ain’t nothin’ for it. Just give it up, darlin’.”
He lifted his hands from his lap and they closed warm and urgent over Vonauk’s, sending a shock of pleasure through their body. Treysomel pulled them towards him and kicked the side of their seat so it would swivel until the two of them faced each other. He leaned forward in his own seat until their faces were inches apart. Vonauk became painfully aware that Treysomel’s thumbs rubbed over the back of their hands, and their face warmed uncomfortably.
The elf gave them a lopsided grin that didn’t quite touch his green eyes. “I don’t think I’d ever get used to the color of your blush… Listen, don’ think too much about it, jus’ tell me goodbye. Like you mean it. Precious time’s a wastin’.”
“Treysomel…” Vonauk wanted to assure him they would do everything in their power to get him out of this. They wanted to tell him help was coming, and that if he just let them man their station, they could ensure his survival. But the platitudes rang false, even before the words ever left their mouth. The others in their party might’ve treated Treysomel poorly because of his dubious upbringing, but a fool he was not. Vonauk had seen that from the beginning. They would be doing him a disservice by attempting to convince him everything was fine. Nothing was “fine.” They had gotten the two of them into this mess, lured Treysomel away because they knew he would do anything to help them, and now Treysomel was going to pay the price for it. Holding a grudge might not be the Vulcan way, but Vonauk doubted they would ever forgive themselves if the beautiful creature before them died on their account.
Not if. When.
“Hey.” Treysomel’s fingers traced Vonauk’s jaw and brushed their temple and they shuddered at the flair of sensation the elf left upon their skin. “Don’ look so worried,” he murmured. “S'not a good look for ya.”
He made jokes, bit out bitter laughter in the face of long odds, in some attempt to ease their perceived suffering. Vonauk’s heart twisted painfully in their side.
“Come on.”
Vonauk searched Treysomel’s face one last time and found nothing but resignation there. “If you would just let me…” but Treysomel’s face said it all. No one was coming. Not on time.
Vonauk closed their eyes and closed the last bit of distance, finding Treysomel’s lips soft against theirs. They had seen so much death in their time and was hardly moved by it, but this…
Why did this have to be different?
The elf grasped at them and when his fingers grazed their skin, they shuddered. And when he eased from his chair and pulled them after him, they let him. He could have this. It was logical to fulfill his final wishes if they could, even if it would mar their soul than they would ever care to admit.
Neither one of them saw the light set into the bulkhead wink from steady red to blinking green with the acknowledgment of their emergency distress beacon.

‘Let’s Get Personal’ Meme (OOC)
Tumblr media
Star sign: Aquarius
Put your playlist on shuffle and list the first four songs that pop up:
Saturn - Sleeping at Last
From Now On - The Greatest Showman Soundtrack
The Hounds - The Protomen
Fly Low Carrion Crow - Two Gallants
Grab the nearest book to you and turn to page 23, what line is 17?
“For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which even you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.” -The Prophet, Khalil Gibran
Ever had a poem written about you?
Yep.
When was the last time you played the air guitar?
Literally every time a song with guitar comes on.
One sound you hate and one you love:
Hate: Nails on chalkboard/high pitched noises. Awful, awful things. Love: My niece giggling or the sound of my crows talking to me. Squirrel chatter is pretty cute too.
Do you believe in ghosts?
I sure as shit do.
Do you believe in aliens?
I do, though not in the green men from Mars way. Like, there is a big possibility that the universe created other forms of life - just maybe not carbon based. Maybe there are hydrogen gas pockets out there with thought and self-awareness. I’m jus’ sayin’, it’s possible.
Do you drive and if so have you gotten in a crash?
Yes I drive and yes Ive been in an accident, though I was the passenger. I had fractures in my spine and still managed to walk away from the vehicle that was smushed into a house (yes, a house). It was either stupidity, stubbornness or shock that kept me on my feet and out of a wheelchair.
Do you like the smell of gasoline?
Gods, yes.
Last movie you’ve seen?
Rampage, and let me tell you, I loved it.
 Worst injury you’ve ever had?
See car accident above. (I really shouldn’t have been able to crawl out of that car, let alone stay on my feet.)
Do you have any obsessions right now?
Steven Universe. I am hooked.
Do you hold grudges?
Nope. Ain’t got time or energy for that shit. I don’t like to spend my time being angry over things I ultimately can’t change and would rather spend my time focusing on things that make me happy. It happened. It’s over. Learn from it and move on.
In a relationship?
Eight years!
