Ryu Number: Robert Catesby
Everyone remembers Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot of 1605—the plan to blow up the Protestant King James I and Catholicize his daughter—but the leader of the group was actually a guy (geddit?) named Robert Catesby. Unfortunately for Catesby, an anonymous letter revealed the whole deal early, and Guy Fawkes was discovered under the House of Lords with 36 barrels of gunpowder, which is an amount of explosives government employees generally prefer not to have beneath their feet (opinions may vary). Catesby ended up shot by the fuzz, and they put his head on a stick. He has a Ryu number of 3.

McPixel has a very clear policy when it comes to copyright infringement.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That policy is "enh don't worry about it."
One of the booms you have to cancel in the game is the one Guy Fawkes is putting together. There's even the location shown to make it absolutely clear:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for the alternate route, you might already know that Lego Dimension lets you play as an absolute crazy range of characters including Sonic the Hedgehog and the Doctor (One to Twelve, plus a bonus War Doctor)...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... but have you ever played Doctor Who: The Adventure Games?
If not... well, tough luck. It was yanked from Steam after the license ran out. Suffice to say (and it'll have to suffice to say, unless you're up for Alternate Methods Of Procurement), you play as the Eleventh Doctor and Co., getting into a short number of Doctor-Who-type adventures that largely consist of interacting with items and avoiding enemy sight cones. One season of four episodes was released, as well as The Gunpowder Plot (the only pseudohistorical episode of the bunch), which was intended to be episode one of season two. Unfortunately, the project was cancelled in favor of...
*squint*
... Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock, apparently. Which IGN gave a 5.5/10, and that was one of the higher review scores. Oof.

If you want one of the most random, funny, WEIRD, and kinda perverted (if you pay attention) video games out there....
(and it just came on xbox game pass)
Mcpixel 3.
(even the name is a joke since it's the first in the series).
It's like Warioware meets schizophrenia.. The entire game is figuring out all the different ways to beat a timed puzzle, but 1/2 the time the real solution makes no fucking sense (like killing a fly and wearing its' wings to fly off. That's one of the PG ones....)
It's simple, yet, it will take you a few tries to get 100% of each round sometimes.
If you want to laugh at something completely and utterly nonsensical, in the best of ways (I haven't laughed this much at a new game in a while) Mcpixel 3. You will never play a game quite like it. I can say that.
Easily 8/10. Controls get a lil wonky, and some of the solutions they make difficult to actually select it, but 100% worth the play thru. Only reason it's not a 9/10 (no game really is a 10/10 besides Skyrim and shit) is because of how insanely short it is. An afternoon. But, to be fair, it was basically made by 1 guy (based on his name dry humping the credits) so...I get it. It took me an afternoon to beat, maybe years for him to make. Go play it. You will have some fun.

At its core, Sos Sosowski’s new adventure strives to make you feel like McPixel. And, thankfully, McPixel 3 on Windows 95 succeeds at nearly every piss and shit joke across the world. I was left delighted at nearly every step of its 3-hour adventure thanks to a surprisingly deep tale that mines the plights of both McPixel and Steve to great emotional success. Underpinning that engrossing narrative is an excellent set of pissing mechanics, which -- combined with fun minigames and plenty of puns -- makes for thrilling action in both the massive setpieces and in the quiet, confined corridors of tense sequences. Sos Sosowski’s second foray into the realm of piss and shit jokes is a continually exciting adventure whose open world and combat are never caught up in a web of overly familiar trappings. This is truly the Dark Souls of piss and shit jokes.

REVIEW | "McPixel 3" | B3 - Boston Bastard Brigade
Tumblr media
My dearest McPixel,
It has been over a decade since your gorgeous orange hair first appeared on my screen. I remember it quite well: ‘Twas a free giveaway on IGN for your debut video game. Knowing nothing of it of the sort, I went in blindly, and found myself simply captivated. The way you disarmed bombs was unlike anything I had ever seen. Dare I say, you were a connoisseur of the art of bomb defusion.
And yet, soon after you had made your debut, you vanished without a trace. Oh, my heart ached for those dark blue eyes and succulent red shirt, in a way that makes many a gamer salivate over a hero with charm and ruggedness. They said you were a bad influence, claiming that you had a habit of causing more harm than good, which is why you went away for awhile. But I said “Nay” to them, and said that McPixel was a hero as noble and brave as a Commander Keen or a Jazz Jackrabbit.
Tumblr media
Lo and behold, just as I was nearing my last drop of hope, there came a trailer. And you, my darling McPixel, were the star of it. Fans cheered for your returned, myself included. As the reel ended, there it was in red and gold lettering: McPixel 3, coming soon! Oh, how excited I was to see you again!
Yet I grew curious: why 3, when there was nary a sign of McPixel 2 on the internet? Had I missed your initial return? You hadn’t written or called me, so I figured you were still working undercover, saving the world from terrifying threats. No matter: you had come back, and that’s all that I cared about.

McPixel 3 Review
McPixel 3 is the follow-up to the 2012 indie darling from one-man developer Sos Sosowski, and it’s a welcome return. Astute observers might notice that the second game was skipped, which is explained in a mini-documentary you can watch. Instead of pondering about what we didn’t get, we can then focus on what we actually do have, and it’s a wonderful palate cleanser of a game. Following the…

Devolver Digital Distributes Delays In Delightful Direct
Skate Story and The Plucky Squire are only a couple of games Devolver announced delays for into next year. Check out the rest of the delays and what's still coming in 2023 here:

In the video above, cheekily titled “Devolver Delayed,” some highly anticipated games previously intended to launch this year…
