hello friends. despite my 9 million existing dreamling wips i'm feeling the need to branch out a bit for the sake of my mental variety. what pairing other than dreamling should i write a little something for? could be romantic or platonic
other way of phrasing i guess: any pairings you really want to see more fics for in the fandom?

How have the residents reacted to meeting Calliope?
Lucifer: *holding Calliope* Everyone. I know this sudden but Alastor and I have a daughter and we are expecting another baby in about six months. Meet Calliope!
Angel Dust: Oh fuck! She’s a cutie!
Husk: *pale* Did you say Alastor…that’s his kid?!
Lucifer: Well mine and his. Why?
Husk: *knows full well that he’ll be put in baby sitting duty* Goddamnit…
Niffty: *scuffles over and sees baby* She’s so small! Smaller than me! No fair! I’m supposed to be the small one around here!

The Children of War: Thoughts on Calliope.
I know there's a lot of contention about Calliope returning at some point in the future, even though I'm on the rocks about it and can see it being both an interesting plot point and a regression of the original story.
But there is something so heartbreaking about the idea of Atreus somehow meeting this girl that still carries her wooden flute like a lifeline. And she sees this lanky boy with bright red hair and blue eyes and little features that make her eyes blurry because her papa left her and he has been gone for so long.
Especially if we have Atreus leave Kratos at the end of Ragnarok. Only to somehow find this girl who talks about the flute her papa carved for her, reminding him of the wooden toys and the knife he still carries on his belt his father had made for him? How these two children saw how war destroyed the father they don't realise they share in different lights; one whose life was cut far, far too short by her own father's blade and one who carried that same rage in him and was terrified of what he could do?
Calliope is the ghost of everything Kratos didn't want for Atreus. She is the centre of all his fear and secrets and lies that in turn hurt Atreus. The source of every nightmare and hesitation that almost cost Kratos another child. The idea of these two children meeting and becoming friends and learning to realise through one another that their father never wanted to hurt them and in his resolve to do better he made many, many mistakes.
And the image of Kratos falling to his knees when he sees his children together because he thinks he is too late and Atreus has joined all the other ghosts of those he loves? I'm conflicted.

"You have met Morpheus."
I love how Calliope tells Madoc, "You have met Morpheus."
When we talk about someone from a dream, we usually say "I saw so-and-so," not "I met so-and-so" because we regard dreams as illusions: something that we see but don't engage with. But here, a dream is very much an interactive space where you can have a "meeting" with the King of Dreams.

Having found her travels bringing her to Scandinavia, it took Calliope some time to get used to not only the cold, but also how some would refer to where they were as Midgard. She felt as though she had stepped into another world. The other muses she accompanied in the travels didn't seem bothered by it, but than again, neither of them had been to the Elysium Fields only to be brought back from them either.
Music filled the room thanks to the other muses. Smiles lighted the faces of happy patrons, probably drunk on drink and not just the inspiration ignited from the music. Calliope was off to the side, busy scribbling away another idea when she heard two men off to the side, bringing up a ghost from her past -- her father to be exact. Apparently the 'Ghost of Sparta' was in these lands. Without any hesitation, Calliope stopped what she was doing and dashed from the inn.
Her heart was pounding in her chest, hands shaking, as old memories returned. But it wasn't enough to stop her. She wanted to see him again, to let him know--- CRASH! She had knocked into a young boy, so lost in her thoughts and not paying attention to what she was doing. "Ah, I'm sorry. That was my fault. Are you okay?" Calliope said, helping him up.
@ofluckandmagic liked for a starter with Calliope! (for Atreus!)

Y’all I’m supposed to be working on homework right now but my mind cannot stop thinking about Unity staying in the Dreaming and befriending all the residents like
Unity having tea with Cain and Abel and Goldie being stoked that he has another lap to sit on
Bonus points if she puts Cain in a good enough mood that he actually doesn’t kill Abel the days she comes over
She explores Fiddler’s Green and Fiddler’s Green becomes Gilbert for a while so they can talk about books together
Nightmares love that Unity isn’t put off by them (I mean this woman called Dream of the Endless a dumbass TO HIS FACE)
Unity brings Lucienne tea in the library and sits and talks with her when she has a break
And if Lucienne hasn’t taken a break that day, Unity makes her take one
Gault giving Unity updates on how Jed and Rose are doing (because Gault stayed friends with Jed you can fight me on that) and Unity committing these updates and stories to memory
Lucienne knows Unity frequently reads Rose and Jed’s dream books but doesn’t anything about it
Matthew also gives Unity updates on Jed and Rose and also tells her about stuff that went on while she was asleep
Unity (after talking with Lucienne) figuring out the kind of family she technically married into and deciding she wants to get to know Dream as a person, because he’s technically her brother-in-law and she never really got the chance during the whole vortex debacle
Dream of course resists and avoids at first because the situation that made them technically in-laws was messy (put delicately), but Unity goes “I’m sorry this wasn’t an option pal” and now they have tea together once a week (Dream sulks about it at first but now looks forward to it)
Unity being able to sort out all her feelings when she learns the truth about her golden-eyed man and move on, and the process is scary and painful, but it’s okay because everyone she’s befriended in the Dreaming supports her the entire way

Calliope: Valentine’s day is just a consumerist holiday that holds no real value other than drive people insane buying heart shaped chocolates for their significant others and—
Apollo: Calliope! I wrote you a poem!
Calliope, already crying: You did?
