Summary:
The rules of life for Julie are pretty simple.
1. Go to work.
2. Be home before sunrise.
3. Make sure other vampires and creatures of the night aren’t causing trouble in her territory.
4. (and most important of all) Avoid hunters at all costs.
Everything changes when Julie accidentally saves one from a certain (and painful) death. Suddenly, she and Luke, a hunter who is much more than meets the eye, can't seem to escape each other. Every encounter, every touch, every moment draws them deeper and deeper into a forbidden love that could unravel the fabric of life as they and everyone around them know it.

the wangxian + a-yuan "dads with an adopted son" thing is fine and enjoyable in fanfics honestly but I think we as a fandom are really not utilizing the idea of all of them in unconventional familial structures enough. Like, canonically it wasn't so much that wwx was a-yuan's guardian as that a-yuan was being raised collectively by the wens and wwx was adopted INTO the larger wen family. And lwj got attached to him through that. A-yuan just has these very attached weird uncles/older cousin figures that aren't related to him by blood at all but keep sticking around.
Just think of a modern AU with a lot less death where lwj does as he does in canon and keeps showering a-yuan in gifts as much as he can and when wwx is like "aiyah lan zhan you're gonna spoil him. Not everyone is as rich as you! What's his family supposed to say if they can't buy him all the stuff you do?" lwj just goes "Hm". And from then on out every year once a-yuan's birthday is near the extended Wen family members (well. the ones that are invited that is. No one wants wen chao at a birthday party) wakes up to a wechat payment from lwj.

cousin 6: i just got 400 yuan????
granny: oh that's just wangji
cousin 6: i've never met this guy in my life???
granny: he wants you to buy a-yuan a nice birthday present!

“Peter.”
The boy can’t even look Tony in the eye. Not because he’s afraid, but because he’s tired. Defeated. The most he does is glance at his mentor like a sad, curious puppy.
Tony can only smile.
“You’re doing great,” he tells him.
Peter looks surprised to hear that, as he raises his head a little and actually gazes at the man.
“I know you don’t believe it with how much you’ve been dealing with,” Tony details. “You might think you’re failing, but I see your effort. You’re a hero both at school and at home… and well, everywhere. And I’m proud of you.”
It’s like Peter hasn’t heard these words in forever.
Because his eyes grow deep, his lips quiver, he begins shaking. Tony can tell there’s a lot of pain in there, as Peter covers his mouth once he starts sobbing, so he doesn’t make much noise.
Tony kneels in front of the kid, opening his arms. Peter immediately launches himself towards him, hugging him so desperately, and sobbing so much that it must hurt. Tony hates imagining how long Peter must have kept it to himself. How long has he felt like a failure?
Peter is so much more than “good enough”.
He’s doing great, amazing, even.
And the kid needs to remember that more often.
Tony will make sure of that.

I know someone said it already but it's truly insane to me how quickly gomens2 devolved fans into tjlc-levels of unwell
#i skimmed the first bit of that 16k doc about how ngaiman is a Good Writer Actually in respect to gomens2 and. well#i mean. they could be right. in the way that tjlc could be right in that theoretically it's not impossible#but people arent meant to analyze shows this much. it's meant as a season 2 to a moderately popular s1 which was based of a beloved book#it's not meant to be full of prestige. it's a tv show#are there themes? sure! are there hidden details? sure!#is the writing bad On Purpose? probably not. why would you fumble the ball so hard when you're not guaranteed s3 to clear your name-#-and show the prestige.#idk i havent seen s2 I'm not gonna watch it but like. ngaiman is normally a good writer. but he is also fallible#<- dont come at me for this. i've liked some of his novels and disliked others and am not speaking to him as a person merely his pubbed work#anyways. sorry if you see this ? just got mad at people for not believing that some things can just be bad. and it can suck! but no one-#-is infallible as a writer. and sometimes the team making a show is gonna change the color of the sky because they forgot what it used to be

does the fact that maybe.... 25-50% of the time, i seem to be much, much better at rhetoric and message-crafting than anyone else in the room [union meeting] i am in, indicate that i have a moral duty to go full-time union organizer and be really all-in on Comms and Messaging
#what if i hate 1. anything that smacks of Advertisement and 2. social media#it's just that sometimes it's very clear that no one has ever said#''so what value‚ that we know the people we're speaking to hold‚#is this extremely vague philosophical benefit that we claim is a reason to support us supposed to actually cash out to''#and once you do that. you can actually write something using that point. because you have figured out why the fuck you are saying it#box opener#now you would not anticipate from my sentence structure here that i am actually good at rhetoric#but that's because i just spent the better part of several hours trying to compress several novel and underarticulated points#into a series of snappy yet interlocking 1-minute speeches for a moderately hostile audience#and now i have to do 9pm labwork. so i have nothing left for arranging clauses for you in a way that is sensible ¬ merely grammatical.#i'm actually not sure if this is really a capacity specific to Messaging or if it's just the most obvious to me as a trait no one else has#when we are Messaging. because Messaging makes people stupid#and the rest of the time things hook back up into real information enough that people besides me notice whether things make any sense.

I get that people get excited about their favorite writers contributing new fic but it’s a fine line between nice encouragement and pushing them to write more. Sorry maybe it’s just me but I find it rude when people get pushy about it like you’re not a machine lol Anyway I appreciate you and look forward to your next fic whenever that may be!
Yeah, it’s a bit of a double edged sword bc on the one hand I do obviously love the encouragement and it does genuinely make me so happy to hear people like my writing but as you said I am only a person and I am as much a fic reader as any of you. I want new stuff to read too and I don’t always want to be the one who has to make it yknow. Much as I love it, writing takes a lot of mental effort. It’s tiring. Sometimes I just want someone else to do it for me.

Luke has always loved Christmas, because it's literally magical for him and his family in a way most post people can't imagine. Unexpectedly he finds himself facing down a tight and dangerous deadline, with a nearly impossible solution.
Maybe fate will show both of them the real magic of the holiday season.
