Happy 2024! I hope you all have been celeb rating or at least enjoying the holiday season.

I wanted to shoutout my favourite posts from 2023 - that just means I reblogged them during 2023 and I like them.... ALOT!

Well it finally happened. Finally caught covid for the first time 😭. Got any favorite whumpy eps/movies to rec to keep me busy? ❤

Once Upon a Time has a lot good whump for various characters. I'm partial to Killian Jones and August Booth so I'd rec the following episodes: 2x12 killian hit by a car and broken ribs and handcuffed to hospital bed, 3x20 killian nearly drowned, season 5 killian covered in blood and tortured by hades, 4x16 has both hook and August whump

Hawaii Five-0 is a fav of mine. Specifically these episodes: 1x23 danny is poisoned, 4x19 danny and steve collapsed building, 5x07 major Steve whump, 6x25 steve shot, 8x10 danny shot in quarantine, 10x22 danny kidnapped and shot

Stargate SG-1for some great Daniel whump the og whump king: Need (2x05), Legacy (3x04), Meridian (5x21), The Light (4x08), The First Ones (4x08), Evolution (part 2) (7x12)

The A-Team 5x13 when Face is shot and held hostage

The movie The Man From U.N.C.L.E is both a fun movie to watch and has some good whump

The Martian. Just watch the Martian. It's so good

Burn Notice. I don't have specific episode recs but Michael Westen gets whumped often. Sometimes its tiny and sometimes its BIG and its always great.

Broadchurch for some excellent angsty, heart condition David Tennant

These three episodes of Bones: 1x15 when booth is in an explosion, 2x18 for some booth torture, 11x01 good whump too

These episodes of 9-1-1: 2x18 my fav. Trapped under an exploded fire truck, 3x01-3x03 the tsunami arc

Lucifer 4x05: Held hostage in Lux, shot in the stomach and is bleeding out in the club until he, Chloe, Eve, and Ella are rescued.

Graceland: Just the whole show really but check out 1x09/1x10 when he gets stabbed, 2x13 he gets shot, 3x01 aftermath of getting shot, 3x07 emotional whump, 3x08 the best! Withdrawal scene

BBC Merlin the whole show. 1x04 is a fav of mine. Merlin poisoned. 1x13 good Arthur whump, 4x02 and 5x08 more good merlin, and 5x13 for more arthur

Movin' on Up - Primal Scream (granted i think i had heard this one before but hearing it again in the end credits of one of the eps of season 1 of The Great possibly triggered a manic episode that kept me high on dopamine for the entire last summer)

Temptation - New Order (i owe any coolness points i have to listening to the trainspotting OST at 16 [oprah voice] she is the mother I never had, she is the sister everybody would want she is the friend that everybody deserves. i don’t know a better person)

Bashir with the Good Beard - Lady Parts (i would be remiss if i didn't include the brilliant original songs from We Are Lady Parts & this punk rendition is catchy & hilarious. check out their cover of 9 to 5 too)

What’s your favorite episode in 5? um...  I don’t really know. it’s a toss up between 5 and 6, but 8 also had some incredible moments. 🤔 can’t decide

What’s your favorite season in 2? THE FIRST! not even a competition

How long have you been watching 1? since November 21, 2017 - the day it came out, and I became immediately obsessed.

How did you get into 3? god, I don’t even remember. odds are I saw some gifs on Tumblr and decided to give it a try.

Favorite actor in 4? it’s funny because his character is my least favorite in the show, but Tom Hopper (he plays Luther). he’s honestly such a sweetheart, and he had minor roles in Merlin and Game of Thrones which are also favorites of mine, so I just can’t not love him, y’know?

Which do you prefer? 1, 2 or 5? oof. I’m gonna say Runaways just because my biggest OTP at the moment is from there, but honestly, I love all 3 shows an illegal amount.

Which show have you seen more of, 1 or 3? Brooklyn has 7 seasons and is still going while Runaways was cancelled after 3, so I’m gonna say b99 just for that reason, even though I watched both shows multiple times.

If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be? look, they’re all pretty fucked up, and I have enough issues of my own, thank you very much. but I mean... if you wanted to give me 5′s powers I wouldn’t be mad about it, as long as I don’t turn into a 50 year old in a 14 year old body. 

Would a crossover of 3 and 4 work? after the Hargreaves accidentally caused the apocalypse, Five uses his powers to take them all back in time to try to prevent it, but they go haywire once again, and all 7 siblings end up in an alternate universe’s New York City, where they meet the detectives of the 99th precinct. the 99 try to help them get back home, but end up teaching them about love and family instead. It probably wouldn’t make for very good TV, but I’d read the hell out of that fic.

Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple? Nico/Gert, or Karolina/Gert

Overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5? they’re so completely different it’s almost impossible to compare, but I’m gonna go with b99 just because it’s season 7 and they haven’t let me down yet, while the Witcher could very easily end up a disappointment.

Which has better theme music, 2 or 4? The Umbrella Academy doesn’t have a theme music so it’s Jessica Jones by default, but it’s okay because it’s just about my favorite theme music ever, tied only with Daredevil and Doctor Who. tua’s soundtrack fucking BOPS though.

1. who is your favorite character in 2?

Xena. How is this even a question? This bish was so extra I didn’t even know the meaning of the word until I saw her bury her damn armor in the first 30 seconds of the first episode. The battle cry, the chakram-- the leather. My poor baby gay brain melted.

2. who is your least favorite character in 1?

Fucking Merlin. I would normally say Kilgarrah the dragon, as the instigator of most of Merlin’s dumbfuckery in one way or the other, but I can at least say Kilgarrah had his motives for doing what he did and insomuch at least remained consistent. Merlin not so much.

3. what is your favorite episode of 4?

Tie between “Exodus” and “Luthors”, I think. Maybe. Any Lena-centric episode is up there, honestly.

4. what is your favorite season of 5?

Probably S1. It’s the most cooky, and the most unique, where they really leaned into the teslapunk vibe and the revisionist history angle (not in a “if the nazis won” kind of way either) in how Helen knew so many people from across history. It also has Ashley, my poor heart.

5. who is your favorite couple in 3?

6. who is your favorite couple in 2?

Xena and Gabrielle. Can you believe my ace ass watched through the entire series thinking they’ve got the absolute Life™, tooling around the ancient world as besties? I only saw the gay when I atched a BTS interview with Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Connor where they were like “yeah it was totally gay” and I was like ( O.o ) and immediately went to re-watch it and only THEN did I realize how fucking gay it was oh my god.

7. what is your favorite episode in 1?

“To Kill the King”. I know it sucks when a show peaks in S1, but honestly? We’ve got the pinnacle of Morgana’s spirit in her efforts to free Gwen’s father, her rage in her failure to do so, and her impulsivity in deciding to do something about it by conspiring to assassinate Uther. And then we also have the embodiment of her kindness when she changes her mind at the last moment and kills to protect him. It only goes downhill from there.

8. what is your favorite episode of 5?

TEMPUS. Motherfucking god almighty “Tempus” took my breath away when I first saw it. It’s always the first one I go back to. The continuity, the performances, the sheer badassery from Miss Helen Magnus…. THAT was a masterpiece of television and anyone who disagrees can kiss my ass.

9. what is your favorite season of 2?

I gravitate towards the second season of X:WP, honestly. They’d hit their stride, and the season was predominantly one-offs, which I prefer over the heavy seasonal arcs they get into in later seasons. It also has my favorite episode, “A Day in the Life.” I live for “day in the life” type episodes, and this is the reason why. 

10. how long have you watched 1?

Ummm I binged the entire series oh…. Two years ago? Since then, I’ve watched only the pre-evil Morgana-heavy eps when I need something on in the background.

11. how did you become interested in 3?

So what happened was that I got to military training early, and had to spend two weeks in med company until my training billet opened up. While there, a buddy of mine had some atlantis eps on a usb drive and we watched during personal time. After I heatstroked twice later in said cycle, I had insomnia for the following year, and decided to catch up on the show-- from the beginning of SG-1. I watched whenever I couldn’t sleep and ended up getting through all 200+ episodes by the end of the semester. It’s probably the only reason I survived that year at all, tbh.

12. who is your favorite actor in 4?

Three-way tie between Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, and Katie McGrath. All three have the knack for non-verbal acting that I really gravitate towards. Some cases in point are Kara’s physicality in Season 1, and Alex’s coming out arc in Season 2. For Katie McGrath, I could point to any scene between Lena and Lillian, or Lena and any moment of vulnerability. Given the right material, all three are breathtaking.

13. which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?

Uggggghhh….. It’s definitely between 2 or 5. Both are equally meaningful to me. But I have to admit that I re-watch Sanctuary more, and I was definitely more active in the fandom there than I was for Xena, so… Sanctuary.

14. which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3?

Ha. Ha ha ha hahahaha… 3. Stargate SG-1 has 214 episodes, not including two spinoffs, plus a short-lived animated series, a mobile game, and 31 tie-in novels (50+ if you include the atlantis tie ins and assorted novellas). 

Merlin has 65 episodes.

15. if you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?

By nature, Lena. By choice? Alex Danvers. She is the embodiment of everything I ever wished I could be. Her close bond with Kara. Her fierce protectiveness-- and ability to back it up. Her trust and confidence in herself and her friends. Her authority and physical prowess. Yeah. I’d choose to be Alex.

16. would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?

Strictly speaking… yes. There’s not enough room here to go into full details, but yes. It’s entirely feasible.

17. pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple

Arthur and Morgana. I say this in full knowledge that they’re siblings (hence the unlikely and strange part), but they’d be okay because in my mind they’d rule platonically and each of them would have their own spouses and it’d be two pendragons ruling to protect camelot and the rest of the world quivers before them.

18. overall, which story has the better storyline, 3 or 5?

What kind of question is that? Which storyline? They both have duds, and they both knock it out of the park. Am I supposed to compare bests? They fill different niches, bro DO NOT MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN SANCTUARY AND SG-1 I REFUSE

19. which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?

I feel that this is an unfair question in this day and age, as most current tv shows don’t have theme songs the way they used to. They don’t have opening credits, so how are we supposed to be able to ID a theme song like we did in the old days? 

That said, I’m able to hum the Xena theme right off the bat, while Supergirl I’d only recognize if I heard it. So, Xena wins. Xena also wins for opening voice-over.

it’s always hard for me to choose between reid and garcia but for some reason (not a very deep one) i always have to fall back on little spenceroonie. he’s a delicious treat that one. all around excellence in just about every way.

2. Who is your least favourite character in 1?

ooooooooh that’s an interesting question!!! i haven’t done an entire rewatch in awhile, but off the top of my head i love the troll arc episodes, and also THE LABYRINTH OF GEDREF gimme all the self sacrifice for tru love it’s DELICIOUS. this is a hard question cuz i love so many eps really i could go on :// k but i came back to add this cuz i just remembered that ep where merlin “fell in love” with freya and how i used to cry and cry over it so lkdjkkhgk there ya go. i was such a dork.

hmmMMMMM that’s tough but i have been bingeing so i should be able to answer this... i guess i have to go with season 2 because watching that jam soulmate slow burn come to fruition is one of the most satisfying feelings on the planet.

well i mean that’s like asking what tastes better, freshly baked bread or freshly grilled steaks.. i just can’t answer. LotS is an incredible story with so many interesting plot lines, but the office is one of the most original comedies of its time (yes, i know the british one was first, i said what i said), so i don’t think it’s possible to choose a better one.

omg the merlin theme music lives in a very special place in my brain that few things access. let’s leave it at that.

series 2 was BY FAR the best. it was soooOOOooOOo good and the following seasons just couldn’t quite...get there. it’s a real shame that all the following series revolve almost entirely around morgana trying to take camelot from arthur. it just can’t compare to the gorgeous pathos that series 2 has being centred around merlin’s struggle to deny his true self to everyone around him and live what feels like a lie for the sake of some destiny he doesn’t understand :( 

merlin’s whole character being built around this theme of having to hide your true nature from everyone around you and basically being forced to live a double-life, and they work this into series 1 & 2 in a way that is TOTALLY analogous to the gay experience while ALSO leaving merlin of HIGHLY ambiguous sexuality was causing me EXQUISITE PAIN. (btw im not saying this was an intentional analogy on the writers part, just that it’s analogous lmao). i wonder if it would be SO HARD for writers to THINK for 5 seconds how this shit can affect the lonely LGB’s in their audience!! that ep where they go back to merlin’s village and he reunites with his childhood friend? who dies for him??? DEATH. the freya episode??? DEATH. 

honestly it would have been so much better if they’d had the nerve to either kill arthur off earlier (like at the end of s3 or something) or to allow merlin to reveal himself to arthur MUCH earlier to refresh the dynamic/take things in a new direction bc as it is the formula they stick to gets stale in s4 and s5 and those are a lot weaker than the first few series. :(

i totally get all the fuss about merlin/arthur but i don’t ship it. the dynamic is basically “hey arthur just wanted to let you know i’m worried this person is trying to kill you and everyone you love and i think we should do something about this oh and btw i would do literally anything for you and i’ve saved your life about 1000 times” “oh fuck off merlin you piece of shit when have you ever been right about anything? you are the most fucking useless person i know and a coward to boot, god why the fuck do i even put up with you? shut up and wash my boots and bedsheets” like? and it never changes? and yeah sometimes it’s played for laughs but most of the time it genuinely...isn’t funny. like merlin will be plainly upset or on the verge of TEARS about something and arthur will still be just taunting him. it’s so...sad. it’s also frustrating bc aside from merlin and gaius (I LOVE YOU GAIUS), merlin and arthur are the only really meaningful relationship on the show lol. and it’s sad, but i can’t believe anyone thought there’d be any romantic revelation between them in the finale. :( they brozone merlin and arthur SO HARD in the latter series lmao. i understand WANTING it to be there, but looking at it objectively they were clearly never even unwittingly encouraging a gay reading between them past season 1, which imho has some light-hearted subtext. in the latter seasons (especially s4 and s5) they were actively discouraging it tbh.

but due to merlin’s ambiguity and his sole attachment being to arthur you can still read merlin as being completely in love with arthur the whole freaking time if you want to which is just the absolute worst because it is so painfully unrequited lmao. it’s so alarmingly easy to read merlin as having a huge crush on him in s1 i sort of can’t stop it so that doesn’t HELP MATTERS.

arthur is literally too stupid for life and even though i detest uther i liked his presence in the show and it was weird after he died. also his death was extremely anticlimactic and contained no catharsis for his character. :/ why would u waste all that.

i could not BELIEVE the way lancelot just up and fucking DIED the way he did, but then he got necromanced back for that contrived nonsense with gwen (not one of their better plots tbh) and i was like “oh so i guess that’s why that had to happen” lame. that brings me to...gwen. 😩 ugh god, i mean she’s lovely and i don’t dislike her or anything they just do a crap job with her. she’s just very limited in this role as a peripheral love interest who is just so...bland. :/ like...she’s kind and sweet and caring and good and beyond that she basically has no personality or memorable traits and no role outside of helper or damsel in distress. at first i wondered if she was gonna be a love interest with merlin, then she’s a love interest with lancelot and then she’s the love interest for arthur and it’s just like...whatevs. i’m guessing another reason merlin/arthur was such a big deal is because arthur and gwen are so boring and in such a limited role gwen really can’t compete with merlin, who gets to be riddled with pathos and a deeply affecting internal struggle lmao. also doesn’t help that gwen and arthur have no chemistry and their romance comes out of nowhere and is basically irrelevant to the story. they literally don’t even have any kind of farewell or meaningful final scene together lmao. but y’know...arthur is basically just a ken doll most of the time soooo :/ which is ALSO annoying because when they actually get bradley james to EMOTE instead of being a macho dickhead he is fuckin’ AMAZING

one of the worst things about s4, apart from the dumbass evil uncle, was the knights of the round table suddenly turning into the douchetool bro club 😩 gwaine especially. i really liked him in s3, y’know, he was a charming rogue, but then he get’s fuckin flanderised in s4 and just turns into a total fucking moron. and i can’t believe perceval survived everything. why the hell did gwaine die instead of perceval. UNbelievable. (they literally killed off every actor that had ANY chemistry with merlin lmao...i’m just sayin)

i loved morgana as a character, and liked morgause. morgana is deeply tragic and i really felt for her tbh. she had a great deal of potential and it’s such a shame that a connection/relationship between her and merlin was never explored or developed in any way. they are the two most compelling characters and imo the ‘two sides of the same coin’ analogy fits them far better than than it does merlin and arthur lmao. exploring them would have been a way better direction for the show to go in than just setting them at odds the way it did. she got shafted for arthur tbh. (no one is surprised lol)

the final season was a bit...too serious for me. it made everything feel quite nihilistic in a weird and unpleasant way. the tone is darker but it lacks any poignancy because the storytelling is so rote at that point. it didn’t work with the show’s formula and seeing merlin kind of jaded and so utterly Done and Tired of all the shit he has to put up with and being taken for granted by everyone endlessly was...sad and made it all feel pretty empty at times. i missed the trolls and goblins and fairies :( the finale legit got the emotions going again though ;_;

anyway i fucking LOVED this terrible fantasy sitcom-y drama i LOVED it i GOBBLED it up 9/10

‘Short’ Compiled Merlin Rant

It’s long. More under the cut.

On the Ending:

One of my favourite things about the show was the lack of historicity. It was placed in “a land of myth and a time of magic,” meaning it has no relation to our reality’s place and time constraints. The show takes elements from the 5th all the way to the 15th century with even 21st century elements added to it, when it comes to costumes, customs, places, names, spirituality, cultures, foods, you name it. 

It had knights of the round table sitting around a high medieval feasting court with Morgana dressed in a 21st century dress with romantic-medieval elements, celebrating events with religious undertones in a world without a ‘new’ religion, eating from silver 19th century plates with tomatoes on them. The final scene to this show messed with its own setting and context. 

By showing us a Merlin in 21st century Glastonbury walking past the Tor while a truck passes him by places this story in a certain time and place while everything before wasn’t. This means historicity all of the sudden does apply, and leaves us with the implications of racial elements, religious discrimination, cultural discrimination, etc. 

By adding this little one minute scene the writers kind of destroyed the wonderful setting they had, where pretty much anything was possible. For me, personally, I loved seeing black people around Camelot without any reasoning for why they might be there. No story of “my family came here with Roman invaders,” no Moorish ancestors, just black people in Camelot without a historical context for why they might be there. They didn’t need a reason to live or be, they just were. My story will completely disregard this badly written one minute scene.

On Religion:

For a show in “a land of myth and a time of magic” the show does a good job at throwing all kinds of cultural and religious aspects into a blender and decking it up with an Arthurian flavour. This is not so much a point of criticism, as I rather like this lack of historical regard and accuracy as it allows for creative freedom, as well as representing a world with greater possibilities.

The one thing that has been on my mind however, when it comes to world-building for my own Merlin fanfic is the presence of, or rather complete lack of, the ‘new religion’. Throughout the show the ‘Old Religion’ is mentioned as something previously widely practised and regarded yet after the Great Purge, which is only 20 years away from the pilot of the show, shows all practises outlawed and suppressed.

Question is, what was it replaced by? I’d like to argue that instead of having a ‘new’ religion to counter the old, the Old Religion was the only practised one and has been replaced by a secular, yet sort of spiritual, society.

One thing to explain before I begin is stating how the society might have some religious aspects, it is secular in the sense that organized religion has no position nor is institutionalized in Camelot. So the Old Religion would be organized religion, and current society is secular but spiritualistic with religious influences.

The first reason for why I’m arguing there is no new religion is because of the complete lack of historicity in the show. Many viewers have claimed the new religion in BBC’s Merlin to be Christianity, or rather Celtic Christianity, but I would like to counter those statements.

I’m no historian so take all of this with a grain of salt. While many forms of paganism existed in Britain around the beginning of the Dark Age (I’m not going in on the name Britain too just take it for the sake of argument) Christianity had already emerged way before, and was instituted as Britain’s state religion under Roman rule probably around the 4th century.

However one thing you need to let go off when thinking about BBC’s Merlin is historical context. There is no Roman-ruled Britannica. There is only ‘Albion’ which forms its own historical context devoid of ours, merely influenced by. Therefore it is not ‘logical to assume’ that Christianity would take the Old Religion’s place. And that’s just the start of it.

Building on the cultural hodgepodge that is BBC’s Merlin, I would also like to point out the circumstances of the Old Religion and its replacement in relation to real world counterparts. In the series the Saxons make their appearance in season 5. Put in a historical context, Saxons (and other Germanic tribes!) invaded/migrated in large amounts around the fall of the Roman empire.

Eventually Saxons embedded themselves in society creating that Anglo-Saxon Britain you might’ve heard of. One of its biggest aspects? The Old English language. Going back to BBC’s Merlin, its Saxons do not seem to be either Christian nor Germanic pagans.

Old English has existed long before Saxons set foot in Albion, as the show indicated they had never done that before. Germanic traditions such as Ostara are celebrated before Saxons arrive, too.  In all, nothing has historical backing, just influence.

Now let’s talk about Camelot’s ruling structure, and then compare it to real world examples. Camelot is an absolute monarchy, its head one king. This king makes all legislative decisions, and while backed up by advisors is not exceeded in position by anyone, let alone a religious governmental body.

Most administrative duties fall on the keeper of Camelot’s library, who answers directly to the king, and again, no religious body. While Christian influences can be found in language (“Go to hell!” or “Goodbye”) and symbolism (that scene in the Eye of the Phoenix) no concrete or direct indication of the Christian church is made. Aside from that, Christian influences are also found in the Old Religion, such as the Cup of Life (the Holy Grail).

In addition Camelot still uses elements from the Old Religion in a ‘secular’ way, such as festivals. Whenever the Old Religion is mentioned it is made clear that while not being a completely organized religion its priests held power in legislative bodies of Albion (priests at court) and that its laws and practises were practised throughout the land.

In conclusion Camelot is a secular society retaining some religious hangovers and spiritual aspects preceded by a Camelot practising the (Old) Religion in Albion. The denominator “Old” in the Old Religion related less to a new religion replacing it, but an old religion being abolished/disbanded by a secular society. Old relates to its status as having been practised, not that an old now has a new.

AKA this is just one big excuse for me not to have to translate Christianity to my Merlin fanfic and just roll with it. Only question left is on OTHER religions than Christianity. BBC’s Merlin makes my head hurt as usual.

On Avalon:

Lastly my Merlin fic disregards the continuity errors and the way Arthur died. Because I need Arthur to come back rather faster than the ending of the canonical story, I will change certain things. If you want more details you can look at the never-ending list of lore explanations and such I’ve made but for now I’ll do a short version. 

All of this destiny stuff was not a ruse like I’ve seen people make commentary of. Kilgarrah did not state Arthur would come back to give Merlin false hope nor did he state Arthur would rise in the distant future. As I’ve deleted the possibility of Arthur rising up in this world, our world, he would return to life in the world of Albion, a land of myth and in a time of magic. The White/Triple Goddess was the one who created his destiny, as Morgana’s, as Mordred’s, and she informed Kilgarrah.

So here it comes, long story: Lake Avalon used to have an island, but this was moved by ancient High Priestesses, and is now the Isle of the Blessed. By doing this they imbalanced magic in the world and upset the White Goddess (she who created all). The White Goddess created a destiny for a sorcerer who would be able to return Avalon to the way it should be, and re-balance magic. 

Therefore he would bring back magic to Albion (and Camelot). In order to get people to honour her again she created the destined ‘Once and Future King’ who would unite Albion under her banner. However she also created another destiny for another ruler who would be able to unite Albion under her banner in the case Arthur would fail, namely Morgana. 

The White Goddess let destiny play out, and as Arthur had still not brought back magic to Camelot when she wanted him to, she destined him to die (see the Disir episode). What she did not account for was to have both Morgana (who did not really honour her) and Arthur die. Because of this she needed to bring back Arthur, who had the biggest chance of uniting Albion and bringing back magic. However in the state she is in (she can never help directly, only when she is summoned like in ep. 9 s. 5) she cannot do so directly. She needs Merlin (and others) to bring back Avalon to its original state first.

So TL;DR: White Goddess fucked up, caused all the misery, in hopes of fixing her High Priestesses mistakes. She wants to press the reset button but can’t until someone helps her reach it first.

This brings me to the last change, and that is the isle of Avalon. As you can read in my rewriting and added information to the show’s canon, the Isle of Avalon was never there when Merlin reached the lake in the first place. 

So basically instead of having Merlin take Arthur to lake Avalon and seeing the island in the background, you have Merlin taking Arthur to the misty lake we know from the show. Gaius tells Merlin to take Arthur to the Isle of Avalon where he can be healed by Sidhe magic, but the Isle of Avalon was never there throughout the show in the first place. So instead of having this image of Avalon, with a random island added, like shown ONLY in the last episode:
