decided to crack out the green stuff world gold pigments to test out on these easterlings, i dont think this video captures just how nice the sheen is after just one coat
March's painting! My partner was away for most of this month so i took the chance to try and burn through a huge batch all at once, painting all the Gondor models I have. This is fourteen Warriors of Minas Tirith, ten Knights of Minas Tirith, and a Gladiator for my Black Templars (not from middle earth)
This all puts me at 48 models painted for the year. Including models bought and sold that puts me at -69 for the year. Nice.
I have warhammer events early in May and June so what I should probably do is prepare for those by painting the Marshal for my Templars and then some Imperial Fists... but what I really want to do is paint Farsight or some more Tau, to try out with the new book. I'm well ahead of my goal of ten models a month, so could very comfortably focus on a couple of single models or something.
Progress on the warhammer board! Foam is down and landforming has begun!
First were two soon-to-be rivers, carved with great difficulty. They will be made more aesthetic when the time comes for modelling compound to be slapped on it.
Tonight’s actual work was a lot of raised land,l. Cut using a wire cutter (with probably not enough ventilation) and currently sitting without glue on top of the table, as I have not totally decided on positioning for everything.
I did some light modding: turning six sword-only uruk-hai scouts into berserkers (with two-handed swords) and ferals (with two weapons), a banner-uruk (the reverse has scrawlings in cirth that amount to 'middle-finger [at] everyone'), and a drummer and priest of Morgoth.
Conceivably, I could use another banner, but practically, I haven't been able to fit in a second banner in Lurtz's scouts before 800pts, which is well past their peak. Similarly, if I need a Scout Captain, I'll probably grab one of the berserkers.
There's definitely room for expansion on the side of the warriors/siege troops. I don't particular want to get siege engines, but some bombs, ladders, and enough uruks to credibly assail Helm's Deep would not go amiss. Not sure how I want to handle crossbows yet, whether that's bashing some together or biting the bullet and getting official ones... *goes and looks* ...oh they're failcast, to heck with that. Bashing it is!
For the other parts of Isengard: I have warg riders (not quite 400pts; would need a second box to actually field the Legendary Legion), and Dunlanders (about 600pt), but they've yet to be painted. All built, though.
Since I am phasing out twitter gradually I think I should start off with a model that I personally had a blast painting but a character whom is one of my favourite from the works of J.R.R Tolkien! One day I'll get a better set up for taking photos of miniatures.
Noldorin Elves of Eregion, pledged to the defence of Imladris and the command of Elrond.
I'm building up a small force of Rivendell for games of MESBG after a demo game got me lightly hooked. It's a solid rules system and the smaller scale minis are a fun challenge.
