okay so my ENA theory is kinda out there and i dont feel like citing a ton of evidenceso just like. trust me on this and let me have it in writing so i can potentially say i told you so.
ENAs werent soldiers. they were servants.
i believe the world they exist in, ostensibly some form of afterlife, was once a bustling and charmed utopia. we see so many empty, vague cathedrals, ruins, deserts and wastes with evidence of what once could have been life, or is some new form of life. there are very few genuinely inhabited spaces, and theyre closely guarded and exclusive, or succumbing to their own hedonism and devolving slowly into madness.
ENAs notably appear to have a more primary side on the left which is always very polite and agreeable. they also tend to be happy to go on random quests, ultimately never serving their own personal interests or getting to know themselves unless under great duress (the power of potluck).
i believe ENAs originally were only one color each, serving as NPC butlers of sorts. theyre regarded as lesser beings due to being literally soulless- that is, beings constructed entirely within this afterlife-esque realm, with no real soul attached. as such, they cannot be forgiven of sin, nor be considered truly "alive" in any capacity. mannequins serve as recepticals for ENAs to be projected into in order to complete a given task- simply empty husks to be filled with code.
i believe some sort of great cataclysm occurred, or perhaps this realm has existed in such perpetuity that it has simply degraded over the eons. it is still relatively unknown that ENAs now have something of free will. perhaps their original "maker" or "master" no longer exists, and so they persist only as a remnant of an age long past, even forgotten by most. and so they are regarded as a mere nuisance, leftovers without purpose or free will, milling about and bothering anyone nearby to serve a goal that no longer exists.
over time, perhaps in gaining more experiences and achieving a base level of sapience, ENAs gained their unstable, emotional halves. an attempt at understanding what being alive is, what having a soul is.
with this in mind, it makes sense that ENAs are generally naiive, polarized, and unstable. think of meseeks from rick and morty. they werent meant to be alive this long!
and if ENAs are servants... they could be made to do anything.
anything at all.

How to show and how not to show a serious topic, Hazbin Hotel and Rick and Morty comparison.
WARNING THIS POST CONTAINS GRAPHIC DECEPTIONS AND DISCUSSIONS OF S//A AND ASSAULT TOWARDS MINORS. IT IS ALL FICTION. IF ANY OF THESE ARE TRIGGERING FEEL FREE TO LEAVE
So I was watching Rick and Morty Meseeks and Destroy and it baffled me how they handled a sensitive subject much better than Hazbin Hotel. Let's start off by Hazbin Hotel's depiction shall we? For context for those who don't know, Angel Dust is a porn star who gets s//a by his boss Val for what seems to be in the regular. This is shown in a song with very suggestive lyrics while he is heavily sexualized. Feels a lot like fetish content.
But that's not even the worst part, there are s//a scenes made by someone who fetishizes s//a. Warning these images are graphic and can be triggering. These are also randomly shown throughout the song, they also give no warning for this so you can't even fully skip the scene since its not one scene.
And they also joke about s//a in a later episode, which I like dark humor, but make it make sense. What do you want people to take seriously?
Now, how does Rick and Morty handle it? They do show a different subject, with Morty nearly getting violated by Mr. Jellybean. You may not need context since this scene did get popular, but Morty made a bet with Rick that they could do a simple, fun adventure. Morty is around 14 while Rick appears to be in his late 50s early 60s.Rick agrees to the bet and they go on the adventure. They do make a joke about r*pe but it is done by Rick which is in character with him being cycincal and this was done before the scene.
Now eventually they are walking down steps and Morty stops by the bathroom. In the bathroom he meets Mr. Jellybean. He appears to be nice which shows how predators aren't obvious. They normally seem nice
Now everything seems fine, but then Mr. Jellybean gets...touchy. Morty gets uncomfortable and attempt to leave but Mr. Jellybean forces him to stay.
Now this is where the triggering scene starts, trigger warning. Nothing happens thank god due to Morty being able to fight him off. And the scene, while triggering can be skipped easily since it's one scene as a whole.
This scene was made to show how horrifying attempted r*pe is. There is a dark joke about how Rick is having a good time but this does fit with the show's dark humor
I do believe they should've put a trigger warning, but that's my only complaint about the scene in general. Morty goes out of the bathroom and begs Rick to just go home, Morty cries for the first time in the series and it's really easy to feel bad for the poor kid who was clearly traumatized.
Rick catches onto what happens and choices to comfort the kid, arguably the biggest piece in the show is nice for the first time here.
This cheers Morty up for the moment until they see Mr Jellybean again and Morty immediately leaves with Rick.
He does eventually get his karma shortly after by getting shot by Rick
Rick and Morty handled this better by not sexualizing their character while spreading awearness, treating the situation seriouslt and showing how horrifying it is, and not getting some who fetishizes r*pe to make the scene. We also get to see the biggest piece of shit in the show be nice for the first time. It shows how predators often come off as nice. This is definitely the darkest I'll ever get with my posts, but I hope you enjoyed reading it and agreed with me.

Is it a coincidence that both Rick AND Beth abandoned morty for summer? Like father like daughter? And isn’t it interesting that in this universe she doesn’t regret not aborting summer? They way rick hugs summer back in the gotron episode. But he never hugs morty back until fear no mort, but even that has hesitation. He said summer reminds him of Diane. Does Beth think that too? would rick abandon morty for Diane if given the chance— morty clear thinks so from his pov in the hole, but the question is, would Beth give up morty and summer to see her mother? I really want to dissect why everyone in the family dislikes morty.
Jerry calls morty stupid multiple times, and always yells at him for not trying hard enough. I see this as projection, personally. Jerry projects his own insecurities onto his son because he cant be the Only one like this. Morty even says he’s just like his dad, when someone asks “is everyone in your family an idiot?” And morty says “well for sure me and my dad are” in the Pluto episode.
Rick dislikes morty early on because he is supposed to. He knows thats how Ricks are supposed to treat morty, but we clearly see that rick cares the most, especially in Close Encounters of the Rick Kind, where he cries watching memories of morty. Evil rick says that no rick cares about their morty, and from then on we see rick continuously overcompensate with insults towards morty. However, we see that rick truly cares in multiple episodes, to name a few; Meseeks and Destroy, Get Schwifty, Look who’s Purging Now, Rest and Ricklaxation. These are all episodes prior to season five, where rick realizes he is a bad partner and leaves. Something interesting is that in GoTron, Rick only abandons Morty when his ideas are not being backed, and are instead being backed by summer, who he says reminds him of Diane (in fear no mort). It’s interesting because we can assume that rick is looking for comfort and acceptance from Diane, and the closest person he can get it from is Summer. He also values summer in this episode because she has never really stood up to Rick on adventures, something Rick dislikes about Morty.
It’s also interesting to add to the mix that his Morty is Morty Prime, the grandson of the man who killed his family. Rick had no problem leaving the rest of the Prime dimension behind, but on some level i think he knew that he needed Morty Prime (before he had even really gotten attached). Rick values the one thing he has against Prime, but he knows that Prime is in Morty’s blood, and I think every time Morty stands up to Rick he sees a small flash of Prime in the kid’s personality, and it scares him to death. It’s a juxtaposition between one grandchild representing his dead wife, and the other representing his mortal enemy.
Finally, I want to talk about why Beth seems to dislike Morty so much, only really showing she cares when he’s in distress—and when she’s right. Beth obviously seeks Rick’s approval, and because of that she has a lot of the same traits. Again, Morty stands up to her, (i forget what the episode is called) but when Summer is turned giant, Morty tells Beth that she is just as arrogant and reckless as Rick, and that being like him isn’t going to make him like her more. Beth wants attention more than anything, and when she and Jerry are going through the divorce in season two, Summer immediately chooses her mother, refusing to talk to Jerry at all. Morty, however, talks to both of his parents. Beth values loyalty and trust over everything, and her abandonment issues are obvious when she appreciates people who stay more. In the Prime dimension, Beth Prime tells Jerry, “a real man stands by his woman,” and in the post credits scene they have this exchange:
Jerry: do you ever wonder what happened to rick and morty?
Beth: sometimes, but i hate to admit that now that they’re gone, im finally happy.
Beth knows that Rick would always abandon her, and on some level i think she believes that morty is betraying her by putting trust in rick, among her disappointment in a lot of Mortys actions in school and socially. This episode really shows that she values Jerry and Summer above Rick and Morty, because Jerry and Summer would always stay.
Beth and Summer both know that Beth had almost aborted Summer, and Beth wants to prove that she’s not like her father; that she wont suddenly abandon or betray her daughter. Choosing Summer over Morty in Morty’s Mind Blowers is Beth’s way of showing her devotion and loyalty to her daughter, saying that she wouldn’t leave. She’s better than Rick. Again, in the GoTron episode, Beth is willing to leave morty behind because she trusts Jerry, summer, and Rick more, because she knows they could leave, and she needs them to stay with her, because they have shown that they’ll stay with her. the only time Beth truly comforts and shows affection to Morty is in the Planetina episode, where she consoles him after the break up. In some way, this reminds me of something Rick would do, and has done. She and Rick had both at one point manipulated a loved ones relationship for their own benefit, or simply to hurt someone else. Rick sabotaged Beth and Jerry’s marriage multiple times, and Beth (even though she was right bc planetina was lowkey weird as hell) sabotaged Morty’s relationship—actually his happiness, and the first time he had felt valued—because she needed to feel valued more, the same way rick wanted to be valued over Jerry.
Idk if this makes sense im just kind of spitballing here but . I think everyone in the family has a distinct reason for disliking and excluding morty, and while they have their moments, i don’t really think they matter compared to the sheer amount of disrespect morty gets. I didn’t put summer here because they both have their own problems, and for the most part they value each other the same amount because they both want to break the cycle their family is stuck in.
If u read all of this thank u :) lmk what u think

Can we please get another scene of Rick (the real Rick) calling Morty “junebug” or at least a flashback of him calling a baby Beth that
The fact that it wasn’t him that said that makes me so angry because I heavily headcannon that he calls Morty that on accident whenever he’s extremely worried abt Morty (like if he was bleeding out and barely coherent) or if Morty was really freaking out about something (like at the beginning of Meseeks and Destroy, but yknow after he’s had a lot of character development and is actually able to show his affection towards Morty and treat him like a grandson)
#rick and morty#morty smith#rick sanchez#please call him junebug again#i need it#it’s my roman empire#show this child that you love him#platonically#rickorty dni#nothing against u as a person tho#I’m sure ur lovely irl :)

People who have never watched the show: Rick is a "too cool to care" protagonist!
Meseeks and Destroy: *Rick throws a bet to make Morty feel better after Morty's experience with Mr. Jellybean and kills Mr. Jellybean once he gets Morty safely away from Mr. Jellybean*
A Rickle in Time: *Rick literally willing to sacrifice himself so Morty can live*
Rest and Ricklaxation: *Literally the entire third act was about how Rick cares about Morty but considers it a toxic part of himself and an "irrational attachment"*
Yeah sure buddy, tell me you never actually watched the show without telling me you never actually watched the show.

what are your favorite r&m episodes? (i love your fics so much btw!!)
what a crazy coincidence i literally just spent the last hour rereading those fics and nodding sagely. my best work fr. thank you so much for the kind words! jumping into it:
my #1 favorite episode without question is Rest and Ricklaxation. peak peak peak codependency, and it reveals so much about their relationship but also about their individual characters. it's also just an incredible episode of television and i rewatch it regularly, lol.
Morty's Mindblowers. of course. changed the game irreversibly and so fucking funny to boot
TALES FROM THE CITADEL is my favorite non-r&m focused episode, they fit so much drama and lore in there in such a short amount of time, it's so so so good. i love every character. i miss slick and campaign manager morty (and yes, cop rick..) every day of my life.
SOLARICKS!!!!!! so much fun, so much happens. the amount of lore and angst, my god... & it's still funny on top of that, the best ensemble episode for sure
s3 premiere Rickshank Redemption blew my socks off when i first watched it and i think it holds up incredibly. i love how complicated morty is in it vs rick who is just being like. The Most Rick he could possibly be. underrated and underdiscussed at this point imo
like Rest & Ricklaxation, A Mort Well Lived reveals a lot about r&m's relationship and is also just an intriguing, well-executed concept
i love the implications of Vindicators 3 of COURSE, and i think i reference it the most often in my works, but it's not a very interesting episode outside of r&m's relationship. same goes for like, A Rick in King Mortur's Mort
beth is one of my favorite characters and many of the jerry/beth saga eps are classicsssss: Meseeks and Destroy, Big Trouble in Little Sanchez, and of course the LESBIAN EPISOOOOOODE Bethic Twinstinct my beloved.
honorable mention to The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy which is one of the first episodes where we see morty blatantly manipulate rick and rick fall for it completely. also get to see rick's influence on how morty handles conflict & protects his family
honorable mention #2 to Final DeSmithation for my favorite fight scenes.
Ok, elephant in the room is Fear No Mort. inarguably a fantastic episode and also has crazy shit like morty VERY CLEARLY being a competitor to Diane; just insane, insane stuff. but something about the ending was missing to me?!?! idk. would love to hear the people's thoughts.

“Existence is pain.”
Rick and Morty’s Mr. Meseeks were right—existence is, indeed, pain.
The problem with existing in this world is that it is inherently meaningless, and we are forced to persist in order to find a meaning for ourselves. It comes easily to others in the form of their passions, and relationships. To others, it is nothing but torture.
We were born into this world without our consent. That is to say, we never chose to be conceived and birthed, only to be subjected to the cruelty of the modern world. Of course, it would be justified to be depressed about the things we never chose for ourselves, but are forced to struggle with.
The human is naturally averse to harm. There is always an internal struggle when the moment to commit suicide comes; and self harm is a product of the need to deter pain that would otherwise be unbearable. At times—most times, in fact—I just want to tear myself apart.
Piece by piece, I want to disintegrate until all that’s left is a trace of my consciousness. What would the world look like without the pain of cognition? I know, however, that is impossible—at least with aversion to suffering, it is. All there is, is hope that better days will come, even if it is the most shameless and blatant of lies.
Which begs the question—why must we continue to exist when it only leads to pain?
Being a Meseeks is a far more desirable form of existence. Imagine being summoned into this world, meeting an organism that wants something, et voila! Their command is your purpose, and you stop existing the moment you fulfill the order—what bliss their lives must be. We, on the other hand, do not meet our creators before being born—we don’t come with instructions.
If all that we can do is persist despite all this needless suffering, the only real way to move forward is to scrape each and every tinge of joy that life offers, and desperately hold on to that fleeting feeling of euphoria. Otherwise, there is nothing else in this life. If there truly is a creator, the first thing I would do in the afterlife is to give them the middle finger—proverbial justice for all the pain I have had to live through.

The Meseeks are so aspirational. I also wish I could stop existing between goals.

If Rick & Morty gets more multiversus reps. I could see the rest of the family could join in. Yeah, I heard the pickle Rick and Mr. Meeks's rumours. Pickle Rick could be a skin. And Mr.meseeks might be a mini-game. Yes, other characters deserve a spot but I kinda want to see the multiversus versions of the Smith Family.
Although I wouldn't hate a disheveled Mr. Meseeks tasked with protecting the multiverse
