First, the easy bit, it works. I can’t speak for every game on it since I haven’t personally tried them all, but of the few that I have tried (Cooking Mama and Pokemon Dungeon Explorers), it appears to work. That’s the easily explained bit of how it’s not quite a total scam.

Where it is a scam however is in it’s product name. It’s not really 510 “different” games as it clearly states on it’s product listing. There are quite a lot of duplicate games in there. I didn’t count them all, but I did count at least 4 different copies of Pokemon Dungeon Explorers, and a few Pokemon Rangers Almia.

Since this is basically just a big ol’ folder of romhacks and emulators, I suspect they downloaded multiple different pirated versions of the same games (either knowingly or not), looked at how many roms were in the folder and slapped that 510 label on the listing. Might’ve been done intentionally for padding, I don’t know. It’s mostly whatever to me.

The thing is, for $27, I can’t particularly complain for the number of games that are actually on there, again assuming most, if not all of them work. It’s pretty sick to have that many games on one cartridge. If I weren’t afraid of catching a virus, I’m super tempted to hook up the micro-SD card to my computer, just to clean it up, and maybe even add my own shit. It actually looks fairly simple to expand. I might do so anyways on my laptop which is a POS already so I don’t so much mind if it catches a cold.

Despite only appearing to have NDS games on it, it seems to have emulators preloaded for NES, SNES, GBA/GBC, Atari, and even the Sega Genesis of all things. Also ones for something just called PCE and NEO, not sure what those are though.

It seems like it has all of the NDS Pokemon titles, including the Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, and niche spinoff games. All of the Nintendog games. All of the Cooking Mama games. An abnormal amount of Spongebob, Naruto, Ben 10 and Spider-Man games. And just a whole bunch of random games I’ll probably never touch, but nevertheless are neat to have. Overall, it probably has a good 300-400 unique games, maybe. I’m not counting it lol.

Overall, 7/10 purchase. I do NOT personally recommend (y’all, it could still brick my 3DS it just might not have happened yet idk, don’t be dumb and buy stupid scam-adjacent shit like me).

Raspberry pi zero FM transmitter

I’ll tell you how you can make a simple FM radio transmitter from just a few parts. I found this project a good gateway to raspberry pi, and for windows users, into linux as well. Our little pirate radio has range of about a 100 meters (currently looking for ways to get better range) and needs little power to run.

You will need:

Raspberry pi Zero W (WH is even better as you don’t have to solder anything)

an SD card, at least 4GB capacity

suitable wire

power source (I use a powerbank)

a monitor, mouse and keyboard

a mini HDMI cable, micro-usb to female USB dongle, optionaly a usb hub

Step one: make an antenna

Cut a reasonably long piece of wire and strip one end. If you have a Pi Zero W, solder it to the GPIO pin 4. If you have a pi Zero WH, twist the stripped end around a needle or something similar, you can then simply connect it to the GPIO pin 4.

Step two: Install raspbian on your sd card

Go to the raspberry pi website and download the imager. When it’s downloaded, flash it to you SD card.

Step three: Boot your Pi

Insert the sd card, connect your display with a mini-HDMI cable, your micro usb to usb reduction, optionally a USB hub (or you can do it like me and switch between keyboard and mouse as needed). At last, connect it to a power source. It should boot up

Step four: download the software

We will need PiFM and MPG123.

Open the terminal and type the command as show below to duplicate the code to your Pi:

git clone https://github.com/rm-hull/pifm

change directories to pifm:

cd pifm

compile the PiFM application:

sudo make

update package repositories for raspbian (to make sure we get the latest software):

sudo apt-get update

Then type the next command to install command line audio player mpg123:

sudo apt-get install mpg123

Step five: Run the PiFM

Download any mp3 file you want and put in in /home/pi/Music

the next command starts your proadcast at 98.5 FM:

sudo /usr/bin/mpg123 -4 -s -Z /home/pi/Music/* | sudo /home/pi/pifm/pifm - 98.5

Tune any radio in close proximity (I used my phone’s inbuild radio app) to your frequency and listen to your broadcast.

beware that commands and filenames are case sensitive. You can store you mp3 files in any directory you want, just change the command so it leads to your files. And pick any frequency you like, 98.5 was the first unoccupied frequency where I live, you might have to choose some other one.

Step six: Run PiFM on startup

Obviously, we don’t want to lug around a monitor and a keyboard everywhere just to broadcast a few songs or messages. Thats why we’ll make a script to run PiFM in headless mode (no display) on startup. I chose the simplest way - rc.local.

open the terminal and type in this command to open rc.local file:

sudo nano /etc/rc.local

then type the command we used earlier to start the PiFM on the line before “exit 0″

sudo /usr/bin/mpg123 -4 -s -Z /home/pi/Music/* | sudo /home/pi/pifm/pifm - 98.5 

save and exit rc.local and the make sure its executable by typing:

sudo chmod +x /etc/rc.local

now you can test it by rebooting your Pi:

sudo reboot

Step seven: get creative

Now it’s up to you to use your creativity and make a case for your new Pirate Radio. Not that you have to, but it would be best to protect your creation from the environment. For inspiration, I used an old SIM card router case.

Some words at the end

Check your laws before you start broadcasting. It might be illegal without a license, altough I don’t think anybody will care about a transmitter with a one hunder meter range.

I suggest you also experiment with placement, climb a tree or go on top of a building and put it there to see how far it can reach.

Now that can be very useful. If I ever had some Tablets I can find and use it for one of my drawings, I'm sure I can do best to have that to expand some memory when I want to get more memory for one of my apps on Cellphone or tablet when playing games or drawing pictures or going online. Which I bet this can be useful to use when wanting to get extra space. And I have the same size for a Micro SD card when using the Switch. Tory 😺🩰: Indeed. Even if we want to get more games, we always have to get more memory. Especially if we ever want to beat the game and save our apps in a cloud storage.

Shadow R 😺🗡️: Yup. That's what I do if I finish a game on PlayStation 5. If we ever beat the game or want to earn a platinum or can't earn one, we can always delete it and we still have the software in the USB drive.

Caleb 😺🏀🏈: Yeah which since I still use the PlayStation 4, I got plenty of storage space with a USB hard drive for anytime we need to update or get more games.

Verbatim Store ‘n’ Go USB 3.0 Drive (64 GB) (Installation and Transferring) - Part 2/Final (Nov. 19th, 2022)

🇵🇷Me: Welcome back to this continuing topic review of my USB Drive. After carefully unboxing during part one, I’m now be doing installation and transfer some of my artworks to check out. However so far, I had going for once or twice of transferring artworks and put it into folders. I can do more if I could still, but here it is that I got them stored from last week. Though don’t know if this will be the last during this topic review. Sure hope I can get my own computer/desktop in the future after going around with my iOS device. What that being said, let’s get right on it.

🇵🇷Me: First I had to do is showing some photos I’ve took with my old iPad Mini. Thankfully that it still had some data despite having its full storage. Anyways, here’s what I set up to install my 5th generation iPad with my Verbatim USB Drive. It’s simple as I plugging to the lighting connector. However, I got a notification as expected; pacifically told me to install the app. Though I could just go to the App Store by search when finding “Store ‘n’ Go” app regardless.

🐰🖌Maxwell: Yeah, but at least you got that app installed. Looks like you’ll be using that when trying to transfer/store with your USB Drive.

🇵🇷Me: Exactly. Now when I visited this app that shows I can store or transfer any photos, videos, music, and more. Which is a good thing if I can do on music and videos via recordings for example.

🐰🖌Maxwell: How about taking a closer look of the external storage after plugging your USB Drive right in? However, it seems the numbers of gigabytes doesn’t match of what it supposed to be 64.

🇵🇷Me: This is because the same way I did with my Sandisk 128GB memory card for my Nintendo Switch; back in January 2020 if you remember, right? It counts for something.

🐰🖌Maxwell: Oh, yeah. Just checking, but at least it looks fine regardless of how numbers was being showed. Anyways, how your transferring going?

🇵🇷Me: Doing fine. I went to create one file/folder renamed “Inktober 2022” where I transfer my previous Inktober art that I posted back in October this year. This is what I’m going for of testing it out storing my art. It took about few seconds before completion in progress. As long I needed to be careful not to accidentally unplugged or damage my USB Drive. Hoping I’ll make sure to take care with it while using.

🐰🖌Maxwell: Mhm. Though hoping you could’ve do all of your stuff that you’ll be saving later. I mean you still had plenty room to store of your USB Drive. You even came back to do with your V2 artworks of us.

🇵🇷Me: So far you had 58.11 GB from your USB Drive. Still you can do all of your stuff from your iPad devices anytime.

🇵🇷Me: I know. Though after going through this, it safe to say that my Verbatim USB Drive works out fine. Hoping It can hold plenty of my artworks, videos, and music to store with it. Then next time I can get a new USB Drive with bigger storage in the future so I’ll make a note to it.

My thoughts:

🇵🇷Me: From plugging to my 5th generation iPad and installed “Store ‘n’ Go” app, It was a good start when testing out to store my artworks so far. It won’t be long before I can go back again and make sure to store all. As for the design of the USB Drive itself, it was good too with protection caps to secure both Lighting and Type-A connectors. I’m promise it’ll won’t lose it when putting back.

🇵🇷Me: Yeah, but I would be continuing for further postings if I can. At least my USB Drive is in safe hands now. Don’t think it’ll be the last time when covered it despite sharing this final part.
