was just rewatching Jack Saint and Patricia Taxxon's video on Mauler (it's called "Long Critique Is Not Deep Critique" and it's like actually so fucking good) and was so taken aback by hearing Twin Peaks music in there now that i've actually seen Twin Peaks lmao, that Laura Palmer theme is so fucking good, Angelo Badlamenti is just truly on another level, i already wanna rewatch the show now (S02 is good, y'all are just cowards).

And put more tension between her paranormal podcasting persona and real life skepticism#don't love stuff that engages with true crime fans without actively critiquing it. I’ve reached the point in my Fairy Tail rewatch where it’s further along than tfd ever got, which means shit keeps happening that makes me go “fucking WHAT”

I’d say 3-4 chapters away from it#so the plot beats I remember -the seis themselves#- the guild alliance and (most) of who’s participating in that#- big weird land thing goes walkabout and they have to destroy all its legs at once#things I did not remember but that have BLASTED me. - Ichiya.#and I. I fucking hate to say it. bc I hated ichiya the first go round but I think he might genuinely be funnier in the sub? god. god.#maybe it’s also because every time I have an episode going I’m also doing a few other things#- the monkey guys. genuinely thought they were a filler side plot didn’t expect them to come back#- Erigor comes back???? I uh. I killed him off in tfd bc I forgot that. haha. whoops.#- fucking *JELLAL* which is something I am. quite frankly. *shocked* I forgot#this guy is at the centre of like. every goddamn arc <- exaggeration#things I half remember which have yet to be confirmed one of which is kind of alarming#- there was a guy who was real obsessed with potatoes?#- I’m pretty sure this brain guy was uh. white. he’s black. he also has a line about switching ‘dark’ and ‘light’. the implications of this#concern me.

new configeration of the office at work makes it so i won't have a computer at the book-putting-together desk which is fine but it does mean i have no excuse not to get back into listening to my podcasts while i process . only it's been years since i listened to podcast and i frankly don't even know where to start . last time i listened to any podcast for any length of time was the year i first had really bad insomnia and i would put on adventure zone (ethersea? i believe? the underwater one) on an incredibly low volume at like three am and lie there frustrated as i failed to find rest so that sort of soured me on the whole podcast experience . but suppose i start one up in the light of day with a nice new big desk in front of me and a sweet pile of books that need covers? like . why did i stop listening to that show really . or any of the other ones . i bet they're still good
#i stopped halfway through juno steel bc every single episode was like a kick in the head and i couldn't concentrate on anything else#i got like an episode and a half into salt verses but stopped because the narration didn't match up with the story (to me)#like it was too .... character-voicy. and the content is so grim i actually wanted it to feel more flat of affect .#^ but then ... i often feel that . i get that audio dramas have their own style of acting . but it might just .... not be for me per se#because i often find myself getting . i'm not sure what it is. embarrassed? i'm afraid someone will listen in somehow#and think i am listening to a story for little kids . when i have an audio drama on and the character voices are VERY animated like that#which is a super weird thing to think. right? like . where's that coming from#but it's a very distinct sense that sort of puts me off of many shows even if i've heard from all corners that they're good or whatever#but unfortunately transcripts in this context is besides the point . because i need something to listen to while doing a hands-on activity#q

the media which consumes your entire soul at age 12 will forever be a part of you. this is an unavoidable consequence of living and you have to accept this fact. no matter how old you get, no matter how long it has been since you last saw its smug face peeking out from the bushes as it follows you, no matter if you think you have outrun it for good and that you're finally finally safe and you hardly even remember it exists anymore and your brain knows a few brief moments of true peace, it WILL catch up to you in your moment of weakness. and listen you don't want to hear this but sometimes this is necessary for your mental health. you will on instinct want to reject it and run away again but sometimes. sometimes you just need to watch that old show or listen to that silly song or read that weird book again as an adult and it will hurt you a little bit in various little ways but it will also heal you a little bit. you can call it nostalgia you can call it connecting with your inner child or whatever you want but just listen to me it WILL HAPPEN TO YOU TOO AT SOME POINT AND YOU HAVE TO BE PREPARED FOR THIS (i am forcibly dragged off the stage by security)

Was considering buying (ridiculously overpriced) Sunny blu-rays to (very, very legally) rip them (for Personal Use archival purposes), decided to test on a blu-ray I already own, realized my external drive only reads DVDs, successfully ripped a DVD, but then was sent down a rabbit hole trying to see if I could use my (again, very, very legally) hacked PS3 to rip the .iso (I can) since it is indeed a blu-ray player with an attached PC-adjacent machine...
Long story short. If you see me spending $70 on seasons 1-5 on DVD and 6 on blu-ray, no you didn't, but also expect a 1080p season 6 bloopers upload in the near future.
definitely not from me, though. no way. i would never do that. i'm not a pirate. i'm just a good ole upstanding wiki admin.
#i need season 8 so bad but the price of it on bluray is ATROCIOUS#THESE MFERS ARE ASKING FOR EIGHTY WHOLE DOLLARS. Okay I think I actually love the Brazilian dub of toh (<- I do not speak Portuguese)
#ramblings of a lunatic#the owl house#i can't comment on how well things are translated BUT i do know that i love the voice acting for it#the only one I'd say is so-so so far is hunter (I'm just attached to Zeno. tho i do love his latin american VA patricio lago!)#but also i haven't heard much of him yet#BUT WILLOW LUZ AND GUS ARE ALL ON POINT??? not in terms of voice matching but in terms of character energy#lowkey appreciated them not going for as much of a generic high pitched mean girl voice for boscha#as much as i like eden reigel in the og version this version feels like a girl who is good at sports and bullies you abt it#haven't seen Darius' tho (I'm watch asias and switched dubs part way through)#watching in different dubs is fun though!!! it's not as fun as the spanish dub where I can actually catch every other word or two#but it's also more fun bc it makes the episode feel fresher for me. which is nice since I've seen this show like. 4 times lol#anyway! ya learn something new everyday#i think i might watch king's tide in the Japanese dub someday tho bc belos va reminds me of the fuckin. badguy in pretty cure#and that's so funny to me. that's so funny

I had the funniest dream last night that there was a new episode specifically for s2 of H2O. It was just a revamp of season 1 episode 10 the camera never lies but Rikki and Zane teamed up to film something underwater at Mako Island. Rikki was the camerawoman and Zane was the actor (as you do when mermaids are involved).
Filming went well, there were no sharks, and Zane had the money to buy a bunch of cool stuff for filming underwater including breathing tubes and air pumps to explain how the camerawoman could stay underwater for so long (the show just used their actual versions of them because I mean. They had them. At the very least they had them for the scene where Zane sinks in the Lorelei. I don't see why they wouldn't still use them for some s2 shots).
But when they finally got back and were watching the footage they were like oh shit. They can't show this because Cleo Emma and Lewis are going to realize what they did, and they're going to realize they're dating and that Zane knows about Rikki.
So it ended up becoming a hot potato game of passing the footage between each other until Nate got his hands on it and entered it into the competition for himself. So that gave Zane and Rikki a bit of an out because Zane could just say Nate was filming him, but Rikki is upset because she put a lot of work into the film and now she's not getting credit for it. Especially since last year essentially the same thing happened where she made a film and couldn't use or get credit for her work.
Zane ended up forfeiting the submission because of it and shrugs it off when Rikki is like why would you do that, you totally would have won again, it was leagues better than everyone else's. And Zane was like. Yeah. Exactly. You wouldn't have gotten the credit for it, and I don't want to win if it isn't with you.
So, totally unrelated note, I think I just came up with a new filler episode for my H2O fic.
#Cuz it IS an annual competition... I'm just saying...#The A plot being that Lewis has to work with either Charlotte or Cleo and Emma for the film this year#So it's Emma and Cleo vs Charlotte and Lewis#And while Charlotte is very artsy and Lewis has a history of winning... Charlotte can also be very bossy and controlling#So she tries to take full control of the project and tell Lewis what to do so he's basically just doing the work for her#And he has to sit her down and be like 'Charlotte. I teamed up with you because I wanted to work together. This isn't that.'#I love her but she can be very controlling. I know it because I can be that way too#So can Emma btw but the show doesn't treat Emma as terribly as it treats Charlotte 🤔🤔 it treats Emma as quirky and Charlotte as evil#Anyway I personally think Charlotte and Lewis winning the competition after they work out the issues in production would be really cute#Listen. Charlotte might spiral by the end of actual season 2. But I'm going to fix her. She's going to get a redemption arc. I'm not#Going to treat her like trash like the actual writers did solely because they needed an antagonist. It's not fair to her#H2O au#Cruddy rambles#This is going to be my replacement for Hocus Pocus because I consider Hocus Pocus to be non canon#I also think comparing Emma's actions in s1 vs her actions in s2 vs Charlotte's would be a good way to show the reader hey. Charlotte isnt#Actually a horrible terrible no good villain. She has flaws just like the other girls but she's also a decent person when they're not#Constantly being highlighted by the writers to make her out to be an irredeemable antagonist#Also every episode in H2O has to feature at least like 5 minutes of merm. Well I have that with the part I had a dream about so it's perfect#Tho I wouldn't be opposed to there being a bit in the middle where Lewis transforms and has to run off from Charlotte who freaks out#And that's what prompts their talk about her fully taking over the project and smothering all of Lewis's ideas/suggestions#It's very much a reflection of how she is when planning his birthday party but you know we are going to approach this less in the context of#'She's an irredeemable villain' and more in the context of ''she's a teenager with flaws''#Because that is way more reasonable and hey... If it ends up having a butterfly effect on how she acts later on in the season... Well... ;)

high guardian spice is to me what sword art online is also to me. better in the abridged version. though for wildly different reasons
#hgs abridged is a pure comedy and it's super fun as this lowkey low budget type deal. it's halfway a shitpost and a labour of love for the#creative medium of writing an actual fucking coherent story#even with all the memes and stupidity inherent to the shitpost abridged show format#whereas SOAA is just. so good like it's amazing Something Witty Entertainment is doing fucking great things for the medium. pls watch it#sword art online and high guardian spice are terrible in different ways. both of them have a couple things in common though; extremely gener#generic and super mediocre#but while hgsa is stupid fun. soaa is like. i wish this was the actual show. level of quality. so i enjoy them for different reasons#also soaa gets like 1 episode every year or two. which. yeah. its worth the wait though#soaa is high art to hgsa's shitpost. and i love that for them#some of hgsa is like. too stupid for me. they used big chungus recently and i was just like... sigh. but other than that it's pretty good.#i don't understand the jojo refrences but like good for them. glad they're having fun#soaa is like. i genuinely don't need to know anything abt soa or anything else to enjoy it. it works as a standalone property#might as well be original work. except it isn't. so the only reason i'm glad soa exists#is so that i can wath soaa#it's just. it's superb. it's that good. there's Some problems with it (I don't always jive with the humour) but the actual like emotional#beats are REALLY well done. you actually kinda like the characters even though they're#objectively worse people than in soa#somehow#it's just. it's fun. i enjoy it immensely#there was a really good choice in hgsa that made me cackle though#and that's the rework of cal's character. that was a great choice#anyway#done rambling... for now...

what if i made a podcast but i use my low quality earbud microphone and the episodes ranged from like 15 min to 2 hours where i just talk about music i like
#because sometimes i feel like writing stuff on here isnt enough i need to like verbally express it#but 1. im a little insecure about my voice and there isnt actually a 2 im just a little worried about my voice lol#i stutter when i get excited and i i have a hard time controlling my volume#but i might be able to edit the audio so you dont have to turn your volume down every time i laugh or get excited haha#and i have a hard time gathering my thoughts but i can just write down a rough list of what i wanna talk about so i dont forget#idk it would just be something to do when im bored#it would be called charlie is in hell and every episode im inexplicably in a different layer of hell#and season 2 would be called charlie is in purgatory and season 3 would be called charlie is in paradise :)#but thats thinking very far ahead lol#just an idea i had :P
