Clementine had just had a game last night against the Flyers, the Devils losing in overtime. She got on a separate flight then her team this morning having got permission to leave and meet the team tomorrow in Edmonton.

She walked through the airport holding her duffle bag in her hand, she walked out into the cold Chicago air and smiled when she saw Janelle Foligno in the car waiting for Clementine.

Clementine quickly hurried to the passenger side getting into the warm car, she smiled leaning over the console hugging Janelle, “Thank you for doing this!”

“Of course!” Janelle fondly smiled at her.

Clementine turned in her seat hearing the kids in the back, “Hi Kiddos!”

“Clemy!” The three kids all cheered at the same time having seen her a lot more since Connor had signed with the blackhawks.

“Are you guys excited!” Clementine smiled at the three kids while Janelle started driving through the airport chaos.

“Yeah!!” Hudson cheered the youngest son of Nick and Janelle.

“Me too!” Landon their middle child smiled excitedly.

“Yeah.” Miliana quickly nodded with a big smile always enjoying skating with her dad.

Clementine smiled, and for the remainder of the drive she listened to the three kids tell her everything that’s happen since she has seen them last.

Clementine brushed her long blonde hair out of its messy bun from the flight, she was wearing a pair of jeans and black sweater with a black trench coat, she played with her silver sea star necklace seeing the Blackhawks Arena as they drove into the parking garage.

“Ready?” Janelle asked the four with a big smile exicted for the surprise, she got four nods in return.

Clementine opened the back door helping Landon out as the other two got out on the other side, Landon shyly grabbed Clementine’s hand holding, She looked down with a smile letting him hold her hand.

They walked into the Arena towards the rink where they saw lots of different family and friends getting together for the Chicago Blackhawks family skate.

Clementine saw Connor’s back as he was talking to Nick she gently let go of Landon’s hand and snuck up behind her baby brother, she stood up on her toes wrapping her arms over his shoulders resting her chin on his shoulder.

Connor tensed just slightly before smelling the perfume his sister has always worn and relaxed smiling as he spun around seeing his big sister here, he pulled her into a hug burying his head in her neck, “Faye?” Connor was confused as he thought none of his family could make the family skate.

“Hi connie.” Clementine pressed a kiss to the side of his head, holding her baby brother tightly.

“What are you doing? i thought you couldn’t come?” Connor smiled at his big sister when they pulled away from the hug.

“I couldn’t but i got coach to agree to let me come.” Clementine smiled shrugging knowing she did everything to make sure Connor wouldn’t be alone his first family skate.

“Thank you.” Connor squeezed her hand, before he held her hand and started bringing her to all his teammates who he has already introduced her too but she let him drag her around always confused how he’s always so proud of her.

Connor dragged her to the booth that had skates for the family and friends to use and grabbed a pair for Clementine to wear, they headed to a bench around the rink sitting down putting their skates on.

Clementine was done first and watched her baby brother fondly feeling like it was yesterday their parents handed Connor to her and helped her hold him, Clementine ran a hand through his hair that was messy after he slipped his beanie off, “I’ve missed you.”

Connor looked up from finishing her skates relishing in the comfort from his sister and felt alot of the anxiety and worries go away with her near, “I missed you too Faye.” Connor smiled softly truthfully hating being away in Chicago and none of his family near by, he’s love playing hockey but some days hockey isn’t always enough.

Clementine slipped his black beanie on before standing up putting a hand down to her brother who quickly took it, “Come on it’s been awhile since we’ve skated for fun together.” Connor smiled.

Clementine threw an arm over his shoulder as they got onto the ice and started skating around, “Last time i was on this ice i scored a goal.” Clementine smirked remembering the winning goal she got against the Blackhawks last season.

Connor chuckled at his sister, “We play each other soon.” Connor was so excited to be on the same ice as his sister during a game never having done that before, truthfully he would always rather be on her team and hopefully one day he will be.

“I know I’m very excited.” Clementine grinned shaking his shoulder slightly making Connor laugh, “Mom, Dad and Mads are coming the 22nd right?” Clementine double checked with Connie, knowing they decided to do Christmas at Connor’s apartment this year as it’s easier to meet in Chicago this year than Vancouver.

“Mhm.” Connor nodded still skating together, “Your coming the 23rd right?”

“Yeah i’m taking a late flight after my game.” Clementine nodded having planned to leave right after her game so she had the most time with her family.

Connor nodded happily at the thought of just a few days with his family.

Landon had skated over to them and asked to play with Connor, Connor looked at Clementine not wanting to leave her but she just smiled and nodded.

Clementine watched as Connor skated after Landon just like she use to when he was a super young, she felt a bump to her leg and looked down seeing Hudson smiling up at her, she smiled back at him.

She saw Janelle, Nick and Miliana right behind him, “I think they are entertaining each other.” Clementine smiled watching Connor and Landon chase each other on the ice.

“He’s gonna sleep good tonight.” Nick fondly laughed, knowing how much his three kids love Connor and Clementine.

Clementine stayed skating with them for a good while before Connor and Landon joined them finally worn out, “Had fun?” Nick asked with an amused look.

“Did i have that much energy?” Connor looked at Clementine for an answer.

“Connor, you still do.” Clementine deadpan with a smile, Connor just shrugged knowing she wasn’t wrong.

A media person was skating around taking pictures and asked for a picture of Clementine and Connor, Clementine threw her arm around Connors shoulder pulling him to her as they smiled their identical smiles at the camera, the media perosn skated off saying a thank you.

Connor looked at Clementine with puppy eyes, Clementine fondly rolled her eyes knowing what he wants but nodded agreeing, Connor cheered always loving racing Clementine on the ice.

“Around the net and back?” Connor proposed, Clementine nodded, “3,2,1 Go.” The two started skating really fast to the other side of the rink, skating around all the people on the ice. Connor has always had to work really hard to be a fast skater and Clementine has always just had naturally ability of being very fast on the ice, she quickly got around the net first and skated back to other side of the rink easily beating Connor, she skidded to a stop turning around watching Connor reach the net.

“I’ll beat you one day.” Connor pouted slighty have never been able to beat his sister on the ice.

“Oh i have no doubts little brother.” Clementine fondly smiled throwing her arm over his shoulder again.

They skated around for a another hour before the Family skate was finally over and it was about 3:00 PM so Clementine and Connor had a good few hours to spend together before they had to go to sleep and Clementine was leaving early in the morning.

Clementine sat on the bench taking off her skates, Connor sat next to her taking hsi off as well, “Faye..”

Clementine looked at Connor who was looking at her with puppy eyes, “What do you want?” Clementine raised an eyebrow knowing Connor always uses his puppy dog eyes.

“Will you make mac and cheese?” Connor hopefully grinned, knowing Clementine doesn’t love cooking but she is really good at it.

“Do you have all the ingredients?” Clementine questioned sliding her black boots back on.

Connor rapidly nodded. Clementine fondly rolled her eyes, “Alright fine.” Connor smiled cheering looking very happy.

Clementine stood up with Connor walking out to the parking garage with the Foligno’s to get her bag from the car.

Clementine grabbed her bag from the car and turned around as the three kids all hugged her at the same time, “I’ll miss you guys.” Clementine smiled hugging all three of them at the same.

“We’ll miss you too Clemy!” Miliana sadly smiled, sad they can’t spend more time with her.

“I’ll see you guys soon don’t worry.” Clementine smiled at the three as she bent down to their height, she booped all their noses before getting up accepting the hug from Nick.

“Thank you for watching him.” Clementine muttered to Nick, having actually met Nick and his wife during her rookie year and had asked if they could keep an eye on her brother.

“Of course.” Nick fondly smiled knowing how much Clementine cares for her siblings and anyone can tell how much Connor looks up to his big sister and Nick had no doubt that sooner or later the two would be playing together on one team.

“Thank you.” Clementine whispered to Janelle, having been thankful how Janelle helped make this trip really easy for Clementine.

“Of course.” Janelle smiled before letting her go from the hug.

Clementine and Connor waved to the family before walking to Connor’s car, Clementine got into the passenger seat and Connor in the driver seat and Connor started driving the quick drive to his apartment.

Connor pulled into the parking garage of his apartment turning the car off, They walked into the apartment and headed into the elevator to Connor’s floor. Connor unlocked the door and let Clementine and him in.

“If you wanna take a shower first and then we can make dinner?” Connor suggested knowing Clementine always like showering after being on a airplane and she just loves taking warm showers.

Clementine nodded and headed to the guest room that she has stayed in many times already, She slipped off her clothes getting into the steaming hot shower feeling her body relax from the warmth.

Clementine finished her showered changing into a pair of devils sweatshirt and vancouver hoodie, she slipped on a pair of fuzzy socks and brushed out her long soaking wet hair before grabbing her phone and heading out of the room seeing Connor on his phone in comfy clothes as well.

Clementine plopped onto the couch next to Connor taking the blanket on the back of the couch she picked out for his apartment and layed it over her beginning to scroll on her phone for awhile.

Connor and Clementine were so focused on their phones for at least an hour until Connor’s stomach loudly rumbled, Clementine laughed, “Alright let’s get you some food.” She pulled him off the couch and heading to the kitchen.

Clementine was pleasantly surprised there was actually a few food ingredients in his fridge and started to pull out everything for mac and cheese, Connor pulled out a french bread loaf and started pulling things out for garlic bread.

Clementine and Connor both did their part of the meal and within thirty minutes they had both finished. They plated up their food and sat back down on the couch together turning the TV onto a hockey game that was playing right now.

They finished eating and Connor brought the plates into the kitchen and came back tot he living room and sat on the couch laying his head onto her lap, Clementine looked down smiling at her brother and started playing with his hair.

They watched the entire hockey game and Clementine could feel Connor fast asleep in her lap, she grabbed the other blanket covering him and set her alarm before she rested her head on the couch and slowly began to fall asleep as well.

December 21, 2023

Clementine woke up to the sound of her alarm, she rubbed her eyes shutting the alarm off seeing Connor slowly waking up as well.

Clementine yawned stretching her arms above her head before reluctantly getting off the couch, she headed to the guest room and did all of her toiletries and everything before putting all her stuff back in her duffle bag and closing it up, she grabbed her bag heading out of the room setting it by the front door.

Connor walked out of his room looking more awake, “Ready to go?” Connor asked Clementine while slipping on his slides.

Clementine nodded and picked her bag back up heading out of his apartment and down to the parking garage, they both got in the car and started the drive to airport.

After a little while they got to the crazy busy Chicago airport, getting to the terminal she’s needs to go to. Connor pulled into the parking spot by the terminal.

Clementine sadly smiled and leaned over the console pulling Connor into a tight hug, “I’ll see you in a few days, have a good game tonight, I love you.” Clementine pressed a soft kiss to the side of his head.

Connor held onto his sister tightly always hating saying bye to her, “Have a good game too, I love you too Faye.” He reluctantly pulled away sending her a sad smile, one she easily returned.

Clementine hopped out of the car with her bag and started heading to the door, she turned around sending one last wave to her brother before heading into the airport.

MCD Characters and their Fairy Tail Counterparts

So it is no secret that Aphmau based a lot of her characters on Fairy Tail, and as I mentioned wihile talking with @xerith-42 I think that there are specific characters that do have a genuine counterpart. Some are closer than others due to the nature of being "based" but not exactly like a character and other characters don't have a counterpart as they are just tropes.

Aphmau - Lucy Heartfilia - The main character of Fairy Tail and as bubbly and strong willed as MCD Aphmau.

Garroth - Laxus Dreyar - Strong family values who at one point ends up betraying his (found) family to do what he believes is right. Ultimately betraying their trust which he regains through battling his family. (I can go more into it, because damn is is so close)

Katelyn - Erza Scarlett - An armored badass who presents as tough but can be quick to being controlled by emotion. Is by far the toughest character and will never back down.

Laurance - Loke/Leo the Lion - He is a massive flirt is extremely self sacrificing and will do anything for the main character. Full of genuine love but has a bit of a self-righteous anger streak.

Aaron - Various but Gray Fullbuster - Another self sacrificing person but with a bit more of a nudist streak. Trouble with handling emotions and a tendencey to shut people out with an incredibly traumatizing and difficult past. Also a harborer of dark magic. (Aaron actually cosplays this character in MyStreet)

Emmalyn - Levy McGarden -The classic bookworm character who is incredibly important for lore research. One of the main characters closet companions as well.

Travis - Marijane - Hear me out. They are both characters with demonic powers and a demon form that they kept trapped and in control for fear of hurting others. I also believe that Travis is based on Raven from Teen Titans, as the story is very similar, but that is for a different post.

Nana - Miliana - Cat people with special magic and a fondness for the maid aesthetic.

Beyond this, it gets very stretchy so I am gonna leave it here but an argument could be made for so many characters.

ADELES LORE!!!

Okk so lets start with her family

Her mother is Cerys Rixon (english mom)

Her dad is Radomir Antos (polish dad)

She got younger brother and older sister

Older sister: Miliana Antos

Younger brother: Florian Antos

Cornelius Antos is Radomirs BROTHER (😨) BUT. Because their mother didnt wanted her husband to leave her because of this, she told her husband its their friend's kid...and the friend is 'sick' so she will take care of the kid. Now everyone believes that and Cornelius is like part of family here lmaooo

Adele was born on june 3rd 1754 (so she would be 23 on 1777). She was a kind kid, but..uh..she was kinda troublemaker. Her parents bond was strong, just they argued a lot (kinda affected her future). She had good education, and she was born in aristocratic family. Cornelius was 22 when he moved to england (1766) and adele was 17 when her father died (1771). So the revolution and polish patritons were starting on. She shipped to the england (which was kinda scary because young girl around de confused men. But nothing happend to her) year after her fathers death so she could be adult then. At 1775 cornelius was at the army 2 months, but got kicked out because...uhh that pathetic man had affair with the generals wife. While that 2 pathetic months, adele was helping him with the bruises and scars and he suggested her to be a nurse, she was like "damn we could have more money that way" so she joined JUST AFTER they kicked out cornelius out of the army lmao.

She got friends quickly here. Sometimes she was talking with Mabel (@marsfingershurt oc), she heard good things about freddie (@lil-gae-disaster oc) and had chance to meet him, she is besties with another nurse, Fabian aka Fabianne (@potatosneeves oc) and she was also besties with anna (@schnitzelsemmerl oc) ..she is still..just she got more feelings for her..

Adele died because of shot in 1790 (she was 36). She was riding a horse in some forest, she didnt knew there was a duel and when she was calmly riding..by accident they shotted her. (So she didnt won the duel LMAOOO)

Team Natsu

Natsu dragneel-The team leader and optimistic character of the group. Fire user

good qualities- Natsu Always tries to defend his family when he believes something is unjustified. And often times is there to be the uplifting presence when the people around him loose hope. His admirable trait is that his strength stems from his loyalty to his family and friends.

bad qualities-He goes into situations recklessly without thinking them through first. He is hare-brained about his emotional feelings towards the people he has become closest to and refuses to acknowledge that he may have caused distress. He breaks personal boundaries with his teammate Lucy heartfilia by breaking into her house and touching her body inappropriately without her permission. He has little mental character growth from what we have seen of him from the beginning of the series.

Happy- charismatic counterpart to Natsu and the group. Exceed

good qualities- He is thoughtful and makes good decision a decent amount of the time. He’s aesthetically pleasing to look at. bad qualities- lets be honest he’s a talking flying cat so the most bad he has done is stole some fish or break into lucys apartment with Natsu. besides that I almost didn’t want to add him because he is nearly irrelevant to the development of the series and mostly there as a companion to Natsu.

Erza scarlet-The mother figure / strong physical character of the group. Requip mage

Good qualities- Erza can be a really wise character when talking about her experiences, weather it be with friends or even enemies. She is able to quickly recognize what her next plan of action is. She is open about her feelings on matters during tense situations. She’s always there to offer comfort or advice.

bad qualities- To confident in the power of friendship always pulling through. When she apologizes it’s either too genuine or not genuine enough. I.e when Miliana was upset with her for forgiving Jellal so easily, she didn’t really take any of that to heart and has had a hard time showing her authentic understanding that she did something wrong that has effected her relationship with both people. This sort of happens again during the avatar arc when she offers Gray the position to go undercover in a cult. She tells him not to tell juvia, not thinking that it would screw up her state of emotions. It indeed did and when it was all over she apologized in a half insensitive tone as if she wasn’t all that guilty and would do it again if given the chance. She forgave Jellal to quickly because even though he was mind controlled by Ultear, it doesn’t change all the horrible things he has done to her and her friends. Some character growth but she has blatant issues that are not resolved.

Lucy heartfilia - The book smart / persistent main character of the group. Celestial mage

good qualities- Relatively known for being friendly and forgiving. She doesn’t back down in extensive situations even when her life is on the line. She cares a lot for her celestial spirits and if you come to her with an issue, she is open to talk about it. She’s useful in problem solving even if it falls through a little bit the first time, she masters it pretty quickly afterwards. She’s got extensive knowledge in literature and calligraphy. Power wise she has grown immensely, mentally, she is a wip but she definitely isn’t the same person from the beginning of the series. bad qualities-Thinks to little of her abilities as a mage but then contradicts herself by flaunting her powers to her enemy. Is a bit like erza in that she is ignorant to feelings sometimes i.e she was upset that natsu had left her behind with just a note, but she mostly thought about her losses and didn’t take into account that he had also lost his dad. In turn his runaway quest caused her to isolate herself from the rest of the guild. Keeping track of them only through letters, which she eventually stopped sending because everyone was doing different things. But her insecurities because of the note must of kept her from joining the rest, otherwise she wouldn’t be in a lonesome grieving state. Not that what Natsu did was right but she was definitely blaming him for all of there shared issues. Not to mention when she saw Juvia in a similar depression state she didn’t reflect on it as being similar to her own. When in reality they were both left behind in a different context but shared the same grief. I didn’t appreciate that Lucy didn’t defend Juvia during this time. It was brought back to just her and her friendship with Gray (she slapped him but it wasn’t for juvia.) She never mentioned Juvia at all In that situation even after she had seen the state she was in and knew Juvia had been sick because of it. Why couldn’t she have told him off just like natsu?. Infact she got all blushy when he apologized, it felt selfish. (Further proving that Mashimas statement about writing female characters bad was certainly true. It should also imply male characters as well.)

Wendy marvel - The young healing mage/ younger sister of the group. Air user

Good qualities- Wendy is really useful in dire situations and easily makes amends with a few of her past enemies. She is empathetic and has gained quite a bit of character growth unlike many of the other characters in fairy tail. Once she was timid and felt not useful but now she has some confidence from her experience in battle. She still has a little bit of doubts but she gets back her confidence with a little help from her friends.

bad qualities-She doesn’t really have bad qualities. But in a future post I will talk about her being a child and Mashima really being incredibly gross about it. (Yes she’s over 500 years old but he presents her still as if she is much much younger.)

Carla- The attentive counterpart to Wendy.Exceed

good qualities- she takes up for Wendy that’s it that’s the good qualities.

bad qualities-Grumpy and rude for what. Actually I get it a little bit. But she’s right in that category next to happy.

Gray fullbuster - The quick learning visual expressionist of the group. Ice make mage.

good qualities- Has strong relationships with a lot of people I.e Lyon, Erza, plus team natsu. Reliable, if you ask him to do something, he will try his hardest to get it done. Stays ‘cool’ in most situations. I need help with filling out the rest of his good traits, he’s got to have more*** help.

bad qualities-Back to being reliable, it’s a half and half trait being one of his best qualities and one of his worst. You see when he gets to being obsessed with something he will not stop going after it. It started with Deliora or however tf you spell his name, Gray wanted to be great (Gray-t) enough to surpass him for killing his family and also to surpass Ur his former master. Ok so spoiler alert Deliora is dead and melts away along with the iced shell of UR. Gray’s upset and Deliora still continues to haunt his mind until recently where he is forgotten and is comforted by Ur in an illusion state and his father acting as Deliora to get over his fear. This obsession with something new is created when Silver(his father) tells him to go after the book of E.n.d . Turns out Grays thirst for vengeance never went away, and so with his new devil slaying powers from Silver Gray starts obsessing over finding this book that produced Deliora. Of course Gray becomes a bit of a douche bag in this process, he tries to kill Natsu because he finds out his best friend is attached to the book that caused all his suffering that Natsu knew diddle about. He fiddles with Juvia saying he’ll treat her better or that he’ll give her an answer and runs off to try to get better but really is just holding off on his answer. Much like Natsu he was written with musty traits like, sexually harassing Lucy by asking her for her underwear or commenting on her outfits or her underwear. Stalking Lucy to her home, breaking into her house in an undressed state, trying to spy on women in the hot spring, groping an alchemy of Juvia without consent, putting Juvia in his mouth in her state of undress, this list is unnecessarily long. Next to zero character growth because he hasn’t changed any of his behavior. Please get them all therapy especially Gray.

5. How do you envision them getting together?

Very bad slowburn. Their relationship started picking up right after Lakebed, when Midna slowly opened up to Link and told him about her people, their history etc. I feel like Snowpeak would be a big point where they got really close during harsh blizzards and Link almost freezing to death. What once might've been a silly crush quickly escalated (literally) and they accidentally kissed. While trying to silence unspoken feelings it just got worse and they confessed in very awkward ways

8. What are their love languages, and how do they show each other affection?

They care so much about the other's wellbeing. Midna takes care of Link's injuries, pats his hair and face, while Link soothes Midna's insecurities and acts like her grounding anchor. They like to hug tightly to feel the warmth/cold from the other

9. Do you see them getting married, and if your answer is yes, what would their wedding look like?

In my AU: Yes, definitely!! Their wedding was a very boring ceremony, mostly just formalities and all the fancy stuff. They were kinda forced into it because society pressured them to get married, and they just went with it because "eh, we love each other so why not"

10. Can you imagine them having any kids and/or pets?

AU again: Yes, 2 kids! They have a son called Viro and a daughter called Miliana. Viro was a shocking surprise because they did not think hybrids were possible, while Miliana was a happy accident. Age gap is 5 years and they both inherited Midna's temper

In the first part, we discussed the couple Fernand and Hélène Iveton, their stories, and their convictions here the link first part (https://www.tumblr.com/nesiacha/753999134761058304/fernand-and-helene-iveton-a-couple-in-the-algerian?source=share) . Now, this couple is immersed in the Algerian revolution, which they fully support, and they are participating in this war of independence by supporting the independence fighters. Here, Fernand is about to experience one of his greatest losses: his lifelong friend Henri Maillot.

Henri Maillot was born in January 1928 and grew up in the outskirts of the Clos Salembier neighborhood, where Fernand, like him, was a communist activist with the Algerian Communist Party (PCA). He lived with his sisters and mother and earned an accounting degree in 1947. Henri Maillot decided to fully join the independence fighters after witnessing the repression in Constantine in 1955 (an episode I may discuss in another post). One of the most horrifying anecdotes that made Henri Maillot scream in rage: a soldier held an Algerian baby in his arms, took a gun, and killed him in cold blood.

In October 1955, he was recalled by the French army to Miliana as an aspirant in the 57th Algerian Riflemen Battalion (BTA), which later became the 504th Transport Battalion (BT). He decided to use this opportunity to take as many French weapons as possible for the Algerian insurgents. In early April 1956, he hijacked a truck loaded with arms and ammunition by threatening the driver and then chloroforming him. Several people emerged from the bushes, and the commando stole 74 revolvers, 10 automatic pistols, 121 submachine guns, and 63 rifles, along with many cartridges.

Once the soldier woke up, he alerted the authorities, but the accomplices had already left for Algiers to mislead the authorities. I will quickly skim over the details, but the press condemned Henri Maillot's actions, with some falsely accusing him of being a traitor serving Moscow (in the next post, you will discover why France was eager to uncover any Algerian communists and make people believe they were working for Moscow, even though this was a blatant lie easily recognizable). The French Communist Party (PCF) clearly lacked solidarity with Henri Maillot (the PCA's line at that time was to join the FLN individually, while the PCF, as we will see, was extremely lukewarm on the matter, even abandoning some of the communists). L’Humanité (the PCF's newspaper) only published Henri Maillot's letter ten days later. Here is Henri Maillot's letter justifying his actions and his commitment to the FLN:

"French writer Jules Roy, an air force colonel, wrote a few months ago: 'If I were a Muslim, I would side with the fellagas.' I am not a Muslim, but I am an Algerian of European origin. I consider Algeria as my homeland. I believe I owe it the same duties as all its sons. When the Algerian people rose to liberate their national soil from colonial oppression, my place was alongside those who engaged in the liberating fight. The colonial press cries treason, while it publishes and embraces the separatist calls of Boyer-Bance. It also cried treason when, under Vichy, French officers joined the resistance while it served Hitler and fascism. In truth, the traitors to France are those who, to serve their selfish interests, distort the true face of France and its people with generous, revolutionary, and anti-colonialist traditions in the eyes of Algerians. Moreover, all progressive people in France and the world recognize the legitimacy and righteousness of our national demands. The Algerian people, long scorned and humiliated, have resolutely taken their place in the great historical movement of colonial peoples' liberation sweeping across Africa and Asia. Their victory is certain. And it is not, as the wealthy of this country would have you believe, a racial fight but a struggle of the oppressed against their oppressors and their lackeys, regardless of race. It is not a movement against France and the French or against workers of European or Jewish origin. They have their place in this country. We do not confuse them with the oppressors of our people. By delivering weapons to Algerian fighters, which they need for the liberating struggle, weapons that will be used exclusively against military and police forces and collaborators, I am aware of serving the interests of my country and my people, including those of European workers momentarily deceived."

Negotiations then began between the PCA (Bachir Hadj-Ali and Sadek Hadjerès) and the FLN, represented by one of the greatest heroes of the Algerian revolution, Abane Ramdane, and another figure, Benyoussef Ben Khedda. According to various sources (so I might be wrong), the final result was what I mentioned in the post about the first part between Fernand and Hélène Iveton, although in reality, the negotiations were more complex and were accelerated by the disbanding of the Red Maquis, which allowed the FLN not to recognize the PCA but rather to permit its members to join the FLN individually.

On May 22, 1956, Henri Maillot was sentenced to death in absentia by the Algiers military tribunal (which is a great parody of justice, as you will discover in the next post; some aspects are no less than those of a totalitarian state, I assure you).

He commanded a group of eight maquisards from the "Red Maquis." Their only notable action was the execution on June 3, 1956, of four collaborators of the French army, shooting them after verifying their identities. Unfortunately for them, the noose tightened. The next day, they were attacked by French troops. Maurice Laban (a communist, former WWII resistance fighter, and lieutenant of the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War), Belkacem Hannoun, Djillali Moussaoui, and Hammi lost their lives. Abdelkader Zelmat, a supplier with a mule for the maquis, had been captured the day before and coldly killed. Mohamed Boualem and Hamid Gherab managed to escape.

Henri Maillot was captured and met the same fate as Abdelkader Zelmat but not before being handed over by the gendarmes and tortured for two hours. Subsequently, the gendarme told him he could leave. Henri Maillot knew the gendarme was lying and intended to shoot him as soon as he turned his back. That is why he walked away backward, shouting "Long live the Algerian Communist Party," and was shot by one of the gendarmes. His body was tied to the back of the armored vehicle and dragged for 15 kilometers.

When Fernand Iveton learned of Henri Maillot's death, he cried for a long time, and Hélène could do nothing to help him in his sorrow. Fernand Iveton wanted to take more action following his friend's death. Hélène, as always, understood and supported him as she understand and supported this struggle.

However, for Jean Claude's safety, the couple sent him back to France to be with his grandmother, as the danger was increasing, and they wanted to protect Jean Claude as much as possible. This premonition proved accurate given what would happen, but it would be the last time Fernand and Jean Claude saw each other.

There is an evident rift between the Algerian and French Communist Parties that will further widen in the third part.

P.S.: I had considered briefly mentioning Henri Maillot in this post and doing a separate post about him, but I realized there was too much to say (which doesn’t mean I won't write other posts for a more comprehensive mini-biography and about his entourage). Thank you so much, Anon-friend! I really appreciate the warm welcome back and the ask. Yes, I absolutely adore Wally x Millianna! Criminally underrated pairing (I don't even know if they have a ship name it's so niche lol😅), so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to make a song recommendation and a headcanon for them! Thank you so much for playing my song + headcanon ask game!

Alright so I may have gone mostly with vibes for this one but I've chosen "Love Me Or Leave Me" (and linked the fabulous cover by Regina Spektor) because it just sounds like the love song of 1920s gangsters and given that Wally wants to be/pretends to be a 1920s gangster and Milianna absolutely, without a doubt has the same level of cheekiness as the singer has in this cover, it just felt like the perfect song for them! Also, I feel like this whole sentiment of only wanting to be with each other is very fitting for them and I can't quite explain why I have this vivid image of Miliana kind of playfully teasing Wally that "there'll be no one unless that someone is you. I intend to be independently blue." And I can absolutely see either of them saying (albeit a bit jokingly probably) "I'd rather be lonely than happy with somebody else." 💖

Related Headcanon:

Wally's love of 1920s gangsters also extends to 1920s jazz music, and he loves putting on jazzy love songs to dance to with Millianna who is a wonderful dancer. Wally isn't much of a dancer, so she has to teach him a little bit, but he is very adventurous and likes to try out all kinds of fancy twirls, spins, and dips which Millianna really loves. When they marry, they love dancing around the house in their pajamas, and when they have children, they invite the kids to dance too!
