"Mi-Minato, I can't move.." A terrified voice can be heard in the quiet space. Your heart thumped inside your chest, your body almost shaking in fear.

"It's getting closer, what should I do!!" You glanced at the blond man just a few meters behind you, you yourself about to cry.

The blond man bit his lip and said in a stern voice, "You have to move, (y/n). If I move, we'll all die." Minato then continued, "You have to call for help. Look for Fugaku, he should not be so far from here."

"You know I love you, (y/n), you can do it. " Minato finished with a smile on his face.

"B-but if I move.." You weren't able to continue your sentence out of fear, your brain looking for any way out, "Toad.. your toad.. use your toad!"

Minato widened his eyes in realization and quickly summoned a toad to go look for Fugaku. Noticing the hurried expression of the summoner, the toad immediately disappeared and frantically searched for Fugaku. A few moments later, Fugaku arrived at the scene breathing heavily, a kunai gripped tightly on his hand.

"Fugaku! You're here!" Minato let out a huge breath in relief at the presence of his friend.

Fugaku's eyes darted around the room looking for the threat inside the room before noticing what his friends are doing. The Yondaime of Konoha was crouching down trapping something with a transparent cup and his wife is standing frozen as if a statue.

"....Minato, (y/n), it's only a bug." Fugaku said in a deadpan voice.

You interrupted him, "It's not only a bug! They are 2 flying damn cockroaches!" You feel like the cockroach on your thigh seems to be crawling towards you even faster, "Fast, Fugaku!! KILL THE DAMN FUCKING COCKROACH!!"

Hello It’s Me(Kakashi Hatake x Reader)

Summary: Reader has been alone most of their life, and while they lost everyone they loved dearly, Kakashi has been there for them for as long as they remembered. Maybe, just maybe, they could eventually overcome their sadness and become lovers.

You were no stranger to heartbreak and pain. In fact, you almost relished in it because you thought it was the only thing in your life that was constant. It started with your parents dying when you were really young, and that left you all alone. You weren’t part of a big clan and most of the people who you were related to stayed away from you. Everyone thought you were cursed or something seeing as most of the people around you kept dying.

The only good thing in your life ended up being Obito, Rin and Kakashi. The three shinobi from Team Minato. While Minato wasn’t your sensei, you stayed close to all of them. As time went on, you found yourself falling in love with Obito.  You couldn’t help it, he showed you such kindness and compassion that you hadn’t seen in so long.

So when Rin and Kakashi returned to the village without Obito, you considered maybe he was only trailing behind. You didn’t want to consider the worst and that he was dead or lost. You wanted him to show up and make you smile. You wanted him to come kiss you and tell you everything would be alright.

But when you saw Kakashi with a Sharingan, you knew Obito was no longer alive. You threw yourself to your knees, wailing and screaming. Your heart was broken and there was just no way you could be consoled. Kakashi and Rin tried everything, but eventually they had given up and just led you away so you could have some privacy.

Rin tried to tell you that Obito died valiantly, saving both of them, but you didn’t want to hear it. Kakashi tried to tell you that Obito’s last words to them was to tell you that he loves you. It broke your heart even more knowing that he was thinking of you right before he died. Kakashi wanted to give you the Sharingan, but you refused. Obito had given it to Kakashi, and you wouldn’t take that from him.

Years went by and your heart grew colder and colder. When Rin and Minato died, Kakashi became cold as well. You both ended up joining the ANBU; Kakashi at the request of Minato, and you at the request of your former sensei. It wasn’t easy at first, but you took to it like a moth takes to a flame. It calmed the troubles in your heart a little, but you still had nightmares every night of Obito.

Kakashi was hurting too, and it didn’t take long before you two decided to confide in each other. Kakashi would tell you how he felt guilty about how Rin died and how he wished he could go back and save Obito and Minato. You would tell him how you wished you could save your family and Obito. Both of you would drink until you would black out, only to wake up the next day and get right back to work in the ANBU.

It’s only when you both became adults that something changed between you two. Your heart would never forget Obito, but Kakashi was someone you could always count on. He would often come over and spend the night with you, making you forget all your pain.

The first night he made love to you, you could feel your heart heal a little. You thought maybe he felt the same way, and your assumptions were proven to be right when Kakashi let it slip during sex that he loved you. It hurt you so badly, because it brought back so many memories of Obito.

“Kashi, please…” you plead. He frowned at you, turning away from you ashamed.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it, it just slipped in the heat of the moment.”

You placed your hand on his shoulder, leaning over to kiss him on the cheek. He seemed to calm down after that.

“I better go.” He said, getting dressed. 

You sat on the bed, not sure how to react. You wanted to chase after him, but you knew it would be tough to reassure him. You were both hurting so badly, and you needed each other. You just didn’t know if you could be in a relationship, and especially not with each other.

A few nights passed, and you waited on him desperately. You wanted the skin on skin contact and the affection. You felt full and happy with him thrusting deep within you. You loved the way he smelled and how good it felt when he kissed you deeply.

There was a knock at your door, and you rushed over to open it. Kakashi stood there, his arms crossed and looking very nonchalant. You bit back a laugh, but instead you allowed him to come in. “Listen, what I said the other night…” Kakashi started, but you cut him off with a chaste kiss.

“Don’t worry about it. It doesn’t have to mean anything at all, if you don’t want it to.” You tried to get him away from these thoughts, but he wasn’t having it.

“I want it to mean something. You deserve love, and I deserve love. We don’t need to be these broken people anymore.” Kakashi confessed, and you felt your heart race.

“What do you mean? Doesn’t the memory of Obito or Rin mean anything to you?” You felt a little hurt, but you wanted to hear him out.

“It will always mean everything to me, but we are both here and now. If you don’t want to be my lover, that’s okay...but just know that I never want you to change and I always want to be there for you.” Kakashi explained.

“Oh, Kashi...you really mean that?” you asked him, hoping he’ll confirm it.

Decorating the nursery (before Naruto is born)

“Babies like colors other than pink and blue yaknow?” You told the lady at the store when she showed you the color swatches from the nursery collection. Minato and you were starting to decorate yours because your due date was almost here. All you needed was a perfect color for the walls, but the ones the lady was showing you were too boring.

“Babe come over here” called Minato a few paces away from you. “I found one you’ll like!” You ran towards him and saw the color he was holding was

“Hokage sama, excuse me but, I don’t think bright orange is an appropriate color for a nursery” said the store attendant.

“It’s perfect! I love it. That’s the one I want, and I’ll bet Naruto will love it too!” You contradicted her.

“Then it’s settled, we’ll be taking this one.” He informed the lady.

You walked out happily with your pots of paint and spent all afternoon listening to music and painting the walls with your husband. The next day he brought home a few plants and placed them under the window of the nursery. You painted little suns and stars all along the walls. Satisfied with your work, you looked around the room and knew, Naruto was going to be the happiest baby here.

Minato and you finally get some sleep

After an evening of crying nonstop and throwing things, food, toys, you name it, you were finally able to put Naruto down for the night. The blond baby looked so angelic while sleeping, however, achieving that was hard with your little monster. You spent an hour on the rocking chair trying to get him to calm down, while Minato finished the household chores you two barely had time to do anymore. When you finally placed Naruto on his crib you quietly got out of the room.

“I think we’re good now” you whispered to your husband.

His face, equally tired as yours, lit up. He immediately dropped everything and went with you to your bedroom. You both fell on the bed between lazy kisses and soft caresses.

“My gorgeous princess, I’ve missed having you to myself”

You two cuddled in bed, trying to get the rest you so desperately needed. Plus, Minato needed it too, he was splitting his time between Hokage duties and dad/husband duties. He was doing amazingly though, you were living a dream.

Cooking for Naruto

“I know it’s not as good as Daddy’s but you have to eat it” you pleaded to your 6 month old baby as if he could understand what you were saying. “He’s running late tonight and you have no choice but to eat my cooking”

It was the fifth time your blond child spit out the applesauce you made him. The worst thing was, you understood him. You couldn’t compete with Minato’s cooking, but he’d been stalled at the Hokage’s office and you had to make dinner for your baby tonight. You’d never thought making baby food would be this hard, all the other moms made it, but honestly you couldn’t get yours to taste good.

You tried and tried to make it, but somehow you always cut your fingers while chopping vegetables, made it too salty, or too sweet, or without enough flavor, or the texture was weird. But Minato, he worked wonders. He made it seem like it was the easiest thing in the world. Chop, blend, cook, done! And it always tasted good. Naruto ate every last bit, but tonight he was stuck with you, his mother who couldn’t cook.

Naruto cried because he was hungry, and it pierced your heart.

“I’m sorry, i’m sorry I can’t cook better.” Giving up, you gave him a few store bought biscuits for babies, so he would at least have something in his little belly. You sat in front of him, and out of nowhere, tears started running down your face.

Then the front door opened and your husband rushed to your side.

“What’s wrong, beautiful?” He asked picking up your baby with one arm and wiping your tears with the other.

He settled on a chair next to you, and held your hand.

“You can tell me”

“It’s just...  I-I” you sobbed “I’m a terrible mother”

“Why would you say such a thing? You’re wonderful, you’re the most caring woman I’ve ever met. That’s one of the reasons why I married you, you can’t possibly think you’re a bad mother”

“B-But I can’t even feed my own child” you cried, reaching to hug Minato and Naruto for comfort. “I tried, but I can’t cook. And he’s hungry. I’m such a failure.”

Minato stroked the top of your head

“Y/N, cooking is a skill, you can only get good with practice, and you barely started doing it. Give yourself a chance. I bet you’ll be amazing when he grows up. Besides, you can’t judge your parenting ability by your cooking skills. You’re still an amazing mother. Now take the baby while I cook you both something good, yeah?”

You wiped your tears and nodded with a weak smile.

“I’ve got your back, remember we’re in this together”

The best babysitter

Your husband sat behind his desk drowning with the day’s work, when he heard a knock on the door. Kakashi “Thank you for coming, it’s good to see you. I have an S-Rank mission for you” said Minato to his student. “It’s utterly important that you do it and I can’t trust anyone else ”

“I’ll do my best, sensei” replied Kakashi

“It’s outside of ANBU, so you can take off your mask” Kakashi did as he was told and Minato flashed him a big grin.

“I need you to babysit Naruto tonight. Y/N has been working nonstop with the baby and I’m going to take her out for a date, she deserves it”

Kakashi’s shock was visible, but Minato knew he’d do the job better than anyone.

Kakashi arrived to your home surprisingly early and told you to dress up because Minato would be picking you up in a few moments.

The evening was perfect, simple, yet beautiful, just how you liked it. Your husband took you then to your favorite restaurant, and afterwards you had a romantic walk through Konoha’s calm streets.

“Do you think they’re alright?” You asked Minato.

“I bet they’re doing just fine”

“I don’t want to get home too late, because Kakashi is a kid too and he needs some sleep.”

You’re so thankful that your husband got you out tonight. It had been a while since you had the chance to enjoy yourselves like that. You wrap up your lovely evening an hour later and head home, still a good enough time for a kid to get sleep.

When you arrive, you see the most heartwarming scene. Kakashi has Naruto in his arms and is singing a lullaby to him. You gently take your baby from Kakashi, and place him in his crib. Then you lead Kakashi to your guest room, and force him to sleep too. You know how much he’s been through, but Minato and you have taken it upon yourselves to be the family he so desperately needs.

“Hey, honey,” you strolled into the Hokage’s office, swiftly shutting the door behind you. Minato was bent over his desk, hard at work. You admired the man’s work ethic, but sometimes you really wished he didn’t work so much. It seemed like ever since he became Hokage you had barely seen your husband. “I brought you lunch.”

“You can just leave it on the desk, thanks.” He looked up from his work just long enough to smile at you, and then his yellow head was bent over the desk again, writing furiously. You took a deep breath, fighting back your disappointment, and dropped his lunch bag on the desk. You had brought your own lunch as well, hoping to steal a few moments to eat with your husband, but that didn’t look like it was going to happen today. You couldn’t remember the last meal the two of you had shared.

“Have a great day, honey,” you mumbled, walking out the door. Your cheeks burned, tears forming at the corner of your eyes at the rejection. My own husband is too important to pay attention to me.

“I love y--” Minato replied, but was cut off by the abrupt shutting of the door. He looked up, but all he saw was a closed door, his spouse long gone.

The next day, you came home from work as usual, ready for another long night alone. Maybe I’ll bake something. That’ll make me feel better, right? You unlocked the door to your home, and instantly the aroma of candles and freshly cooked steak surprised you. What’s going on? You took a step inside to find your kitchen table laid out with a full romantic meal for two: two steak dinners with two glasses of your favorite wine, with candles and rose petals spread about the table to set the perfect atmosphere.

A soulmate is hard to discern and harder to wait for at times. With so many options and variants it was so very likely that one's soulmate wasn’t in this lifetime, or a part of their generation, or even in the world. Sometimes, the soulmate was at your side all this time, but with none ever the wiser, not even the soulmate themselves. The signs of a soulmate were hard to recognise at times, for not everyone had the obvious markers.

Minato always figured that his soulmate would come. After all, he had the most obvious marker on his finger, a little red string that went into the distance. He figured that, when time allowed it, they would find each other eventually.

Though, brilliant and patient as the man was, there was no sign of his soulmate. The string remained, invisible to anyone else, always loose, waiting for that tug. When the war started you didn’t seem to come any closer, the string still heading so far away. Beyond his own camps, beyond that of the enemies, passing by the burning villages that were sacrificed in the fight.

He grew up and he grew disillusioned with the thought of meeting you. War passed, another fight started, friends came, were lost and betrayed. Minato’s life was too uncertain to keep on waiting for you. His life was too short, too turbulent for him to really tell when the end would come and he would die alone.

And despite all his patience the man was terrified. Terrified that he wouldn’t experience life as a normal man as he waited for you, agonising that he might never have a home to call his own if he didn’t act fast. And though he covered all of that up under layers of sweet smiles and patience Minato thought of all that and decided that, perhaps patience didn’t mean forever and waiting didn’t mean stopping himself from experiencing.

Kushina’s hair was as vibrant as the red string attached to his finger. A colour he had come to deeply care for, for it symbolised the figure that was you, the person he didn’t know, the one he never met.

How cruel fate was for both you and him. Just as Minato had found his happiness, the beginnings of a family sprouting up, just like he had always wanted, there you were.

It started with a tug, the man realising that the red string had suddenly gone taut, as if you were near. Feeling his heart leap, but also horrified, the male branded himself, his weapon at the ready as he leapt over to another tree.

It was the clang of metal clashing and eyes filled with contempt that met their target. A moment of stillness, a realisation, the plunge of a high and hearts dropping down into stomachs, devoured by the acid there along with whatever feelings there may be.

Fate had no message for the tides of the world. It did not care for the conflict between two and the stage of many. Soulmates could be born ages apart, be parent and child, and they could be enemies set out to kill one another.

There was no love reserved within that reservation in one’s heart. Just acceptance of a cruel fate.

Flashing out of your way the yellow flash vanished, sparing the both of you the pain of ending a life too soon and taking the life of a supposed mate.
