Everyone’s posting their Octonauts OC so I’m gonna reintroduce mine!

Ferris

Early to Mid 30’s, Cis, Gay, He/Him

Species: South American Grey Fox

Occupation: Octonaut, Therapist, Meteorologist. Aboard the octopod, he tracks the weather weeks in advance so the Octonauts know what to do in future situations. He also holds therapy sessions, for the crew (something they never know they needed considering how taxing this job is)

Personality: Ferris is generally very friendly and welcoming, he’s a social butterfly, he enjoys talking to everyone on the Octopod. Especially Captain Barnacles and Bibi He’s very passionate about his work and is ready to lend a helping hand at any chance he gets.

However, he has heavy imposter syndrome and can fall into fits of self doubt when he fails at something, and he has little patience under pressure and can snap a bit. But besides that he’s really good at controlling his temper, often smiling even when he’s angry. (Think Shinobu from Demon Slayer.)

Ferris is also very compassionate and patient when need be, as a kid he was always taken care of by his older brother (his parents couldn’t because their jobs kept them busy throughout the day.) And as a result, he wants to help others.

Bibi

Late 20’s early 30’s, Non-binary, Bisexual They/Them

Species: Gray Rabbit

Occupation: Octo-Agent, Bibi is a search and rescue specialist stationed in Alaska, they run a station near a bunch of mountains. They help rescue creatures after storms, mudslides, and avalanches.

Personality: Bibi is socially awkward, they like life in the mountains of it means being alone, they tend to self isolate which isn’t good for their mental health, but they don’t really mind it. They aren’t completely isolated from others though, as being an Octoagent meant having to occasionally call on the Octonauts for help, and Bibi really likes them. Especially Barnacles and Ferris.

If Bibi is comfortable enough, they’ll stand or sit closer to someone or even talk a bit with them, but they prefer to be quiet.

Bibi does love very deeply and expresses it through art and letters, they seem completely socially stale but that couldn’t be further from the truth. They’re very emotional but they keep it to themselves out of fear of being too much to deal with.

Opal

Late 30’s Cis, Lesbian, She/Her

Species: Ocelot

Occupation: Octo-Agent. Opal is Silviculturist for the rainforests of South America, she takes care of the upkeep of the area around her tree house station. She makes sure animals and plants are safe, dhe cleans up any mess left behind, protects it from deforestation. Etc.

Personality: Opal is extremely nurturing and gentle. She has loads of love to give, she’s not the most talkative out there but she’s always happy to listen and learn. She especially enjoys the company of Selva, who has been dear to her ever since they were young. (They may or may not be a thing :))

She’s always been quiet but kind as long as she can remember, she never wants anyone to feel alone. She also has a protective side as she never wants anyone to get hurt. She’s a cat of prey but she’s personally vegan. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, she’s especially fond of kids.

i miss the show and Jessica is definitely a comfort character of mine. and for those who are new, she’s Dashi’s daughter!

She’s very bright and explorative, always on the OctoPod or briefly on missions with her momma. She’s mainly close to Kwazii and Shellington!

Different Beast (Siren Paani Song fic)

think I'm starting to go on with one of the theories involving this AU

ok so I guess in this parody Kwazii Tricks Siren Paani while Hazel saves real Paani from prisonment and the other octonauts helped in. now let's a get on with the song.

*Kwazii throws a lasso at siren paani's tail and Siren Paani Screamed as he struggles*

Kwazii: let's cut the charade you're no friend of mine! You've been trying to trap us here this whole time! I know the great secret where the real one is hiding.

*meanwhile Hazel was searching deeper into the coral reef until she sees some sort of prison, and inside made her shock to see the sight of paani floating under a sleep spell trapped in seaweed*

Kwazii: yar, I know exactly who you are, a siren

*Siren Paani hissed, while at the prison, Hazel removes the seaweed*

Kwazii: My real paani knows I'm not afraid of the water, and my real paani knows I'm afraid of spiders. and while you were so focused to trap us here in a sneak catch, you didn't notice that your prisoner got snatched....

Siren: What?!

*Siren sees Hazel swimming away with unconcious Paani and tries to stop them but is pulled down by Kwazii's lasso and with the help of Captain Barnacles*

Kwazii: we are the ocean's saviours, we are the one who saves all, no more of all decieved, they won't take the suffering from you.

Octonauts: We are the water warriors, we save the seas with honour, you are their threat no longer, they won't take the suffering from you.

*after avoiding many obstacles Hazel and Paani arrived at the gup and Peso checks on Paani's health*

Kwazii: we've been out here on the sea for about few hours or so, we were ready for our very journey, and we helped the creatures as well.

Hazel: *arrives next to Kwazii* but then when we reach to the lagoon, we notice that there's no animals, Kwazii figured there might be sirens, trapping creatures to their prison.

Kwazii: we covered our ears with octo plugs, that's how we resist your charms, you pretended to be our friend so we just played along, we read you lips and phrases, scanning for information, Sirens knows about every route and horizon, Now we know a way to get back to the octopod.

Octonauts: we are the ocean's saviours, we are the one who saves all, no more of all decieved, they won't take the suffering from you. We are the water warriors, we save the seas with honour, you are their threat no longer, they won't take the suffering from you.

Siren: Spare me, oh spare me please?

Kwazii: why? so you can capture more creatures in your twisted corals? nah you wouldn't have spared us.

Hazel: I made this great mistake, it almost cost our lives, I'm not taking this risk because of the cutesy charms.

Kwazii: Cut down the chains let us break the spell, that is what we must do indeed set them free.

Siren: No!

*the octonauts split in groups setting the fishes free from the trance and helping them escape while Barnacles keeps the siren contained *

Hey, my friends are cool though! They're incredible! Tweak can build a high-tech machine in mere hours, even minutes! Kwazii is a total daredevil PIRATE! who can drive a GUP like no other! Captain Barnacles is strong enough to lift me like a weight with just one paw, not to mention his leadership skills! Dashi programs these incredibly robust softwares and can easily manage and fix them all at once and so quickly! Peso literally saves lives constantly!! And oh, my STARS, the professor, our founder and owner of presumably the best library on the planet, we wouldn't even be here if it weren't for him! And he's incredibly intelligent and knowledgable in all fields! You cannot call them nerds under any circumstance!

I may be approachable yes, that may be a good thing, but it also means I'm easy to bully, easy to tease. I don't perhaps want to be insanely cool, like Kwazii, but I just wish maybe I was more.... skilled? Or just.... I don't know, everyone just seems so much more... it's as if everybody on the Octopod has a role that's cooler than mine.

A friend of mine inspired me to make some pride flag octopi (octopuses? octopodes? whatever) so here's the first one :3 (note: I am not agender myself, I am just making these in a variety of pride flags because I can)

Octonauts OC

(I got a comfort character for my comfort character)

I drew this guy in my last post, though I did get his hat wrong. Meet Barnius Polar Bear! (I'm not sure if he's even an OC since he's just an airheaded version of Barnacles).

He's going to be one of the polar bears I'm adding for an AU of mine.

Character lore info below:

Character Lore:

Note: the brother being referred to here isn't Barnacles.

Uncanny resemblance: He looks just like Barnacles apart from the eye color.

Adventurer with a purpose: Just like his brother, he sails around the world exploring the sights and finding a cure to an illness.

Personal therapist of Barnacles: He will act as the person that comforts and hears out Barnacles' problems and worries.

Time of meeting: Barnacles will meet Barnius during the Above and Beyond series. A moment where Barnacles is alone at the Octopod since everyone is busy with fieldwork (similar to The Bamboo Rescue episode). Barnacles then decides to go on a solo patrol with the Gup-A and while on a patrol gets caught on Barnius' fishing line.

Smart Himbo: He's good at what he does but becomes a total himbo when learning new topics or generally socializing.

Extreme Introvert: He is completely alone in his boat with Barnacles being his first friend outside his direct family.

The younger one: He is younger than Barnacles.

So close yet so far: Barnius and his older brother live opposite to where Barnacles and Bianca lives (My explanation for why they never met until now).

Above and Below: Barnius is a sailor while his older brother is a pilot (I might actually add this guy soon to give Dashi a copilot in the Octoray).

Opposites attract: Barnius' brother has the complete opposite personality to him but they get along very well.

Trivias

I based him of book Barnacles being white all over with blue Accessories.

I got his name from Barnacles' name change from the other Octonauts dubs.

Let me clear this up: snails belong to the phylum mollusca, meaning they’re closer relatives to octopods than any creatures of mine.

OCTONAUTS AU MASTER POST!!!!

because I’m gonna post it sense I was told not too :)

Disclaimer: I have not seen anything with Above and Beyond

So this AU is also kind of my headcanon for the show. It works as both the animal, and human versions of the characters.

So In this universe the Octonauts program is an internship, founded by Professor Inkling, and taught By Captain Barnacles. The rest of the characters are college students aside from the vegimals who are the same as they are in the show for the animal version but other staff members recommend to Barnacles by shellington for the human version. (They just needed someone to cook cause Kwazii was doing it before and he just makes things unbelievably spicy)

Differences in the animal version:

The animal version is basically the show but with the internship thing and the Kwazii being adopted stuff applied. Everything else is untouched. All the whimsical things that don’t rly make sense in a human universe like talking animals still apply in this universe while they don’t in the human one. unrealistic looking tech like the gups and octopod are the same as the show in both versions because they are too Iconic.

FUN FACT, abyss monarch was actually designed with eldritch horror vibes in mind, that was stated by some of the designers who worked on them :3

they have eyes all over their body, not just on their chest. they have extra eyes on their face, down their arms, a bunch on each tentacle, and more on their chest, they just keep them closed most of the time because that's So Much Vision

i like to imagine they have some passive powers from the darkness of the Sea Fairy Tear that they dont really think about using, they just Do.

like sensing stuff in the darkness. they can sense where life is without having to actually look at it

they can change their coloring, they just prefer black because it helps them blend into the darkness of the abyss

shadowmancy is another favorite of mine to give them!!! they can use the shadows as physical things the way they use their tentacles. this came with them absorbing the darkness of the Tear/Sacred Pearl, but their control over the magic is something they were taught and used in Sugarteara before they became abyss monarch

also on the lines of shadowmancy, they can use the shadows to travel around as they please. they sort of melt in and out of the darkness.

theyre VERY flexible. they can contort their body to the EXTREME. (this is actually something they could do before they became abyss monarch, but they had a reputation to uphold then, so...) they like to do it as abyss monarch, it's like stimming to them. not uncommon to find them contorted around themself just for fun

very good balance. you can't knock them over. they can also walk backwards as easily as they walk forwards

they have 100% eaten other people before. not that they go out of their way to do that, but when they black out... the abyss is Hungry.

their blood is black.

their mouth is a horror show. they have a beak the way all octopodes do, but they also have sharp teeth and their tongue is abnormally long. they can also unhinge their beak and open their mouth far larger than they have any right to.

anyways open ovenbreak and go vote Abyss Monarch for cookie of the year :3

Finished reading the Planeswalker's Guide to Edge of Eternities. Other than terminology collisions, it was actually fine, until the Kavu planet. That's one of the dumbest things I've ever read

The gulfs between two given solar systems

You know it's finite because you can see the inside edge. If it was infinite in space and not in time, the light from the Chaos Wall wouldn't have reached Pinnacle yet. If it was infinite in time and not space, entropy would've maxed out already

You literally acknowledge an outer boundary, which is the actual equivalent of the CMB

I think that would be more interesting if the Illvoi didn't have human faces to begin with. Make them properly like the octopodes in Children of Ruin

I was going to comment on how we already saw the card Sothera, the Supervoid, but Tezzeret also points that out

This annoys me because supervoid is already a term in astronomy, and photon collar is too similar to the photon ring around real black holes

Okay that's stupid. It's still gravitationally bound even if you move the rocks from one place to another, and a type 0 civilization can't mine even the smallest fraction of an entire planet

That's not how gravity works. Gravity pulls objects into spheres. If this is a Roche limit situation (it's not, this is the second planet in the system), then their mining wouldn't have had any impact

The Best Animal

so according to my note for this idea @lostcephalopods suggested it, probably months ago.

Summary: Virgil and Remus are arguing over which is best, spiders or octopuses. The rest of the sides have to escape them by heading into the real world and confusing Thomas by their presence.

Thomas blinked as his Creativity appeared in the living room, looking cautiously around the room before sighing and collapsing across from him. “Hi Roman, pretty sure I'm not asking for ideas or motivation right now. Why're you here?”

“Sheltering. They got into Patton's room earlier and mine was basically taken over immediately because that's what Remus does now. Janus thinks you're the safest place to stay right now.” Roman explained looking at him, before checking the room around them again. “Given it's Janus we're dubious over that accuracy especially since he's actually sheltering in Logan's room now.”

Before Thomas could ask just why his sides needed to shelter, as if Remus wasn't a decent start to the explanation, Patton appeared on his lap, only to jump off and shove him forwards to hide between Thomas and the sofa.

Logan and Janus were soon to follow now, both just brushing off their clothes before looking around the living room in a calmer fashion than Roman had done. “Being in the real world should limit Virgil's summoning abilities even if I'm dubious that it would impact Remus's transformations as you're suggesting.” Logan was commenting before nodding to Thomas.

“I would love to know just what you need to shelter from, or have you all decided we need to do an impulsive video?” Thomas asked, looking at the three he could without twisting.

“Creepy crawly death dealers.” Patton half wailed from behind him, explaining nothing except that spiders were somehow involved.

Janus just nodded, “Indeed, there are a lot of spiders around the mind space currently. Virgil and Remus are debating the best eight-legged animal and while Remus has been transforming in order to make his point Virgil prefers simply summoning them and both were trying to recruit us to support their choice.”

Inside Thomas's mind, Virgil turned from the argument for a moment, snickering. “I think the others are hiding in the real world now. He's getting worried about us. Wonder if he's amused by them all too.”

“I'll go check when you admit squids are the best multi limbed creature.” Remus grinned, form shifting as he glided closer to Virgil's head.

“You were arguing for octopuses! Don't change animals for no reason and stop lying. It's always going to be spiders that are the best and you know it!” His attention snapped back to the argument at hand, a mixture of spiders and frogs now falling on Remus. “They keep pets! They're like the only animal other than us to keep pets. And you want me to believe loners lost in the sea are better than that?”

Remus cackled at that, “Is that why you like Patton so much? You can't just decide to be a light side cause Patpat turns into a frog.”

“I didn't – Fuck he really did that, didn't he?” Virgil went to argue only to stutter in realisation.

“Yup, maybe he's insecure and thought doing that would make you stay with him when I showed up!” He cheered his words, excited at the idea.

Virgil smirked, “So you're happy that spiders keep pets? See. They are the best.” He gestured to the spiders and frogs from before, now on the floor and clearly moving to find each other, forming their own families.

“Octopodes are not loners! They literally gather in hundreds to nest and die. They're so fucking community focused they die together!” Remus countered, immediately returning to their original argument.

“Communal death is not community! In humans it's a horror. It's society failing.” Virgil snapped back.

Neither of them noticed Roman quietly popping up, keeping to the edge of the room where there were fewest spiders. “Or maybe you should both admit that the greatest animal that actually exists is the platypus.”

With that he was laughing as Virgil and Remus were promptly on the same side, arguing for both animals.

He carried on laughing when Virgil summoned two foot of water into the room, starting about knee height to part way up their chests with octopi and squids swimming through it.

The laughter stopped and Roman very quickly vanished back to Thomas when Remus turned into a giant spider, now dangling from the ceiling.

“Both brilliant?” Virgil said after watching Remus's cackling for a moment.

Remus grinned over at him, “For reactions like that, definitely. All the creatures in here are brilliant.”

Thomas blinked at Roman's abrupt reappearance. “So you weren't successful in getting them to stop arguing?”

“I was, but I don't recommend going back to the mind-space for a while.” Roman insisted after a moment checking Remus hadn't followed him.

Janus smirked over at him. “I told you you'd only get Remus to transform in support of Virgil.”

“No, you said I shouldn't try getting them to support each others animals against one I chose.” Roman protested. “You never mentioned Remus becoming a giant spider!”

“It was implied.”
