Showed my work to family and the response was, well, let's just go with less than enthusiastic... Not unkind, but it left me feeling like a child seeking validation, which is stupid. I'm not, I'm just (apparently) really bad at reading people. I don't pick up on the subtleties so if someone says they like a thing, I share more of it, not realizing that maybe they were just being polite.

Take this blanket (pattern: cosmic cal by Helen Shrimpton), for example . A while back, I gifted it to my mother only for her to immediately give it away. If I'd realized she wouldn't value it, I'd have kept it for myself. And yet still, here I am, trying to share things with people who clearly are not interested. 😒 Am I a hopeful optimist, an idiot or just a slow learner?

Rhetorical question, by the way. This really is just a long winded way of venting into the void and saying, sod it. From now on I'm going to do this stuff for myself. My art. My enjoyment. The way I should have approached it from the start.

Edit: thank you to everyone here who has commented, liked or reblogged my work. It warms my dark and brittle soul to see that people *do* like what I do. I know I'm just bitching here about how the people close to me don't seem to care about it, but I know there are many, many other people who do and that matters to me. I appreciate you all. 💕

Finished the house for now, but I'm probably gonna add more stuff in the future. I'm honestly surprised how fast I finished this whole project (4 days), though I guess it's kinda cheating since I didn't build the house and some of the furniture but instead painted it, but it was still fun nonetheless :)

Yes they are :))) Some of them did catch on fire on the candelabras at pomefiore and they entered mini dark fire mode (silly little harmless legged flames) And to andwser another question about the fate of the minis at diasomnia well... No idea if they stayed in dark fire mode green edition or if it was too much for the little guys, I'll let it to your imagination...

how did you get so good at art i'm so in awe 😭

I could keep going for hours on how I “got good at art”, cause there’s a lot more behind it than just sitting down and drawing but it’s that first step thats so important. Drawing and putting the practice down on paper (or tablet).

Oh, I doodled on a post it? Actually, it’s practice! I made a bunch of fanart? More practice. I worked for hours on this piece and I hate it and I’m gonna trash it? That feeling sucks for sure- but also that’s HOURS of practice, and now I know what I don’t want to do next time.

And I get a little better each time!

It's Menos Mooooooondaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

I made these for @ippoddity's birthday last month, and did a little photoshoot before I packed them into their box and sent them off. Menos Matryoshka! Painted in a style inspired by khokhloma, a style of Russian folk art.

The wooden bases are from a craft mall in St. Petersburg. I've had them for quite some time, and they seemed PERFECT for Menos. I painted them with black enamel paint + acrylics for the rest. They were also painted with mortal terror, as I learned how to paint vines and strawberries (ALL FOR YOU, ICHIGO).

Then I had lots of fun posing them like they went to a mall in the 90s for family portraits. 😊

I made him out of paper clay because I wanted a mini Maitimo on my desk.♡

I still want to add more details to him ....but it's hard because he is sooooooo tiny

....uhhh....maybe....I got carried away and made him too small lol because I wanted to make a tiny findekano too, but if maedhros is "tall" then....fingon needs to be.....smaller than this:

I finally have found a way to adapt the pattern to make sweaters for all the sizes of little lads I make! <3 Tiny sweaters for even the tiniest of froggies! (Click on the pics for a better quality <3)

"crowd control" was fun but it felt a bit like a modified make some noise episode. the way make some noise will do improv karaoke, this felt like another spin on the base msn premise. maybe because of the prompt nature of both
