Good evening, I'm sliding into your asks because I was just accosted by thoughts of how Carter might handle his short-term telepathic connection to Wilde post resurrection specifically in the Placeholder universe, any comment? -holds microphone in your direction-

how'd you expect him to handle it, huh? feeling wilde's emotions through him. carter's not part of that conversation, isn't there when zolf takes wilde's hand and tells him he'd let wilde go but he doesn't want to, not if there's any other way. has to feel wilde's heartbeat stutter over hearing those words, even though carter doesn't know what those words are. zolf laughs and carter feels a gush of warmth that's all from wilde, all from wilde to zolf.

and then it'll be better when wilde's elsewhere, right? easier at least. but then something happens and wilde is scared and wilde is angry and carter doesn't know what's happening to him other than that something is happening to wilde that is causing carter to shake in his bunk, his heart trying to crawl its way up out of his chest and then-

and then it's hollow and empty, and carter swears wilde hasn't died- sassraa can back him up on this, it didn't feel like a death, but wilde's not there-

how long until wilde falls back out of that portal and into other london? how long does carter spend left completely in the dark on this?

all of a sudden it's easier to feel wilde's love for zolf, because at least wilde's alive, right? except!!!! wilde does die. carter's overcome with a sense of peace, something warm and calm and restful, and then it's like he's been split open from the middle again, the feel of the ship's shrapnel not as distant a memory as he'd like it to be. sassraa feels it too, he can hear them cry out but he can't focus on that, because it hurts where wilde hurts and hurts where carter hurts, and there's so much here it's overwhelming, he closes his eyes and

and wilde's alive. nothing in their connection tells him that was zolf, but carter knows his teammates and despite what most of them all think, he's not an idiot. doesn't need the next moment of warmth, the ghost of arms around his middle to prove that point.

it's almost a relief, really, when they make it to london and crash into the fucking dragon. almost a relief when the world Changes, magic draining from it like blood from a corpse, or wilde's feelings from carter's heart

Perhaps it was just in Aziraphale’s own view that the pedestal he’d put angels as a class on didn’t support emotions like jealousy. Too close to envy, or perhaps the same thing.

Thinking about it in those terms didn’t make him feel any less green.

19. Do you edit your fics after you write them, or do you prefer to just hit post and run (because it’s someone else’s problem now)?

I’m trying to get used to the idea that I can edit my work anytime. It’s not literally set in stone. But I think the most I can do after I post a story is edit a stray typo or a word that doesn’t quite fit, and move on to the current WIP, because there are too many and I want to finish them, so I don’t have the time to obsess over things that are imperfect in my earlier works. I pore over my WIPs a lot, so by the time I post the finished version, it’s already about the way I want it to be at my then-level. Even if me-now would be dissatisfied XD

36. Are there any fics or fandoms you’re embarrassed to have written or been part of?

Nah. Granted, I don’t write a lot of weird stuff (and most of it is probably lost on LJ now), and my earlier things were frankly quite silly, but... I embrace it as the necessary steps on the way that led me to my current point. As for embarassing fandoms... also nah. Cringe doesn’t exist. I enjoy what I like regardless of what others think.

6 the last thing I read that made me laugh? I almost wanted to say I can’t remember but then I remembered I recently reread ‘Saint Jim’s Magic Cock’ by @niishiki (I mean look at the title??? Aren’t you laughing yet? Also, it’s freaking good! Like you randomly go back to it after months good). 

7 the last thing I read that made me cry? I actually never cry while reading (or writing for the matter) but one fic that almost made me was ‘In the end’ by @miscreantahead. That one hit me real hard when reading it for the first time. 

8 Bed sharing or roommates Au? Bed sharing. There is just something about the intimacy of being forced to occupy the same constricted space, feeling each and every tiny movement.

2019 Fic in Review

total word count: Around 59k... thank you, long vampire fic chapters xD Literally a third of that word count, holy shit

fandoms written in: Now, I don’t remember if I calculated the Good Omens story I wrote for the holiday exchange, but tbh, it’s just Gotham

looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? I’m incredibly surprised by that word count, I had only about half last year.

what’s your own favorite story of the year? What It Could Be - strangely, it’s a story combining canon with an au, but what makes it special for me is the emotions somehow.

did you take any writing risks this year? If you can call returning to a story that had been on hiatus for over 2 years a writing risk, then I guess so xD

do you have any fanfic or profit goals for the new year? Finish the vampire story... I’ve also been thinking about maybe turning it into a novel, but that’s probably not gonna happen. I don’t even know how to go about it.

best story of the year? I Although the kudos might not show it, I’d like to name A Little Snow, A Little Peace for this one - a story inspired by a Christmas ad, which in turn, was inspired by true events from WWI. It’s as historically accurate as I could make it, and just the idea of love that transcends language barriers and wars? Ugh my heart.

most popular story of the year? Weirdly enough, it’s Accidental Boyfriends - that pretend relationship trope is going strong lol

story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I know readership numbers decreased since the show ended, but I wish What It Could Be had more kudos.

most fun story to write: A New Kind of Buzz made me giggle the whole time, and Parent Trap was quite funny too.

story with the single sexiest moment: Bruh... literally only wrote one explicit fic, and I’m not sure I like it anymore. It’s On His Knees, if anyone would like to check it out.

sweetest story: Jim’s Umbrellas - Jim realises his feelings for Oswald, but instead of asking him out on a date like a normal human being, he just starts wearing umbrella patterned clothes. Also my latest, Winter Story.

“holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you!” story: Nothing to report here xD

story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters & most unintentionally telling story: Can’t really think of anything here either.

hardest story to write: I still think writing multi-chapter stories is hard af, so I’m nominating the vampire fic, aka The Only Weapon We Have Is Our Trust in Each Other.

biggest disappointment: Work is incredibly draining, so I didn’t manage to finish quite a few fics. Also, I commented a lot less last year, which is very bad.

biggest surprise: That so many people remembered/ embraced the vampire fic when I resurrected it... that meant a lot! Also, thet you people are still there reading the stories, despite the show ending. Which is great, because I still have tons of ideas. xD

2019 Fic in Review

fandoms written in: Gotham (plus one tiny story for the Umbrella Academy)

looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? Well, simply looking at the word count I’m actually surprised how much I’ve written but then I didn’t expect for real life to keep me from writing once summer came along and putting my latest Gobblepot fic “A Gotham Ghost Story” on hold.

what’s your own favorite story of the year? huh, that’s a tough one. I had such a fun time writing all of them and I actually like rereading my own stuff^^ but I guess “Broken Lights”  is my favorite. 

did you take any writing risks this year? hmmm, I actually don’t think that writing in itself is a risk. To me, writing means sharing my daydreaming with others and enjoying their reactions. 

do you have any fanfic or profit goals for the new year? Returning to writing!!!! I want to finish my Ghost Story if nothing else and then going back to another writing project I started with a lovely friend of mine. 

best story of the year? I think Dog Sitter is overall a very sweet story and I guess my characters actually stayed in character until the end. But that’s not up to me to decide :-)

most popular story of the year? Given the hits it’s Dog Sitter but considering that “Bird Catcher” had only 3 chapters and received absolutey delightful feedback I’d say the second one. 

story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I know it’s only a short fic and but I wished “Favors” had gotten more feedback. 

most fun story to write: can I go with all of them except for “Salacious Start”? I wrote this fic to take my mind off of real life which didn’t really work out for me and though I don’t think it’s a bad story I only always associate it with bad memories. 

story with the single sexiest moment: hmmm...I’m quite content with the smut scenes in “Mr Van Dahl’s Remarkable Double Life”

sweetest story: “Bird Catcher” Jim and Oswald are forced to stay the night in the precinct and bicker constantly. Also, “Those Goddam Oysters” in which Jim and Oz are actually married and ‘enjoy’ rotten seafood. 

“holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you!” story: everything’s fair in love, war and writing (cause writing is love) welllll…..maybe except for some lines in Twilight. 

story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters & most unintentionally telling story: probably my short story collection “Tessellate” 

hardest story to write: when I’m in the mood and writing it’s not hard. But whenever I lose my mojo it’s hard af (like right NOW)

biggest disappointment: not continuing the writing project I started with my friend. I feel like I let her down.

Fanfic Ask Game

Was tagged by  @lalaurelia  – thank you! Haven’t done anything like this in ages.

At what age did you start writing fanfiction?

I think I was 16, wrote something for System of a Down. But really, my proper fanfic writing started at 18 with Muse.

Who is your favorite author?

I like Neil Gaiman and Laini Taylor - they’re both great storytellers. 

Favorite type of scene to write?

This is a difficult one, it mostly depends on the story. But apparently I’m good at setting a scene and atmosphere.

What is your favorite fanfic?

I’m sorry, but I can’t just choose one... I still remember the first gobblepot fics I read, and of course they’ve been a huge reason for me staying, but there have been a gazillion others which have slayed me.

What tags do you avoid like the plague?

I don’t read anything with the NOTP. I’ve never had a notp before, so I was surprised at the intensity of my emotions, but it’s so repulsive. From general tags, I’m not a big fan of mpreg.

What AU do you wish to write but feel like you won’t manage?

*insert endless list* There are lots of them... but there’s an ancient Greece one that will haunt me forever. Oswald as a forgotten god and Jim who accidentally discovers his temple.

What has been your favorite story to write so far?

I think Splintered Darkness allowed me to grow a lot as a writer. I love symbolism and painting emotions vividly, and that story was the perfect vessel for it. It’s also probably my most introspective work.

Do you prefer to write one-shots or multi-chapters? Why?

I’m the worst when it comes to multi-chapters. I can maybe keep up to posting regularly for 3 chapters, and then I’m lost. I also get a lot of spontaneous ideas that need to be written RIGHT NOW, so I think I’m better suited for one-shots.

What is your favorite kind of comment?

Any kind!!!!

Why did you start writing fanfiction? Why are you still writing it?

Fanfic allows me to express myself. I’m rubbish at any kind of other art, but words, I like them, and they like me (sometimes). I love how many stories and genres you can explore!

Gobblepot came at the best time... I was still clinging (although not as hard) to my old fandom, where I felt constricted and suffocating after a while (you know how in certain fandoms some BNF comes up with a thing and then everyone treats it as canon?). It was full of toxic people too. I think we have AMAZING writers and stories, and Jim and Oswald are fantastic characters, complex and multi-faceted. I’ve had the best welcome here and then when we started the Gazette, I became even more involved. It honestly feels like a part of myself. I hope we’ll still be here writing about these idiots in the years to come :)
