Initial Persona: Josephine Baker (I kinda struggled with this one cuz Google dosen't make it easy to research Martinique and I didn't want to do something lame like "Renard the fox lol". I typed up "black woman spy" into Google [because Alya's other story is being Marinette's best friend which is lame] and Josephine was the first French result I got. She was the first black woman movie star and she also spied on the Axis powers for France during WW2. France also gave her the title "Creole Goddess" which scares me)

Associated Arcana: Devil (this is what Astruc would give her lol. It also fits cuz Devil is giving in to your vices and Chloe can't stop doing that), Lovers (cuz it'sabout making a choice between two options and aticking with that and Chloe does that both times she's the big bad of the episode), Empress (cuz Chloe is rich and enjoys her life I guess)

Initial Persona: Marie Antoinette (cuz I am 99% Chloe is based on her and it kinda for a meta perspective on Chloes story where she is the scape goat for even worse villains)

Associated Arcana: Emperor (he's the leader of the resistance i guess), Heriophant? (he gives good advice like 3 times in the series?) , Chariot (the lame answer: he shares character traits with Chie and Ryuji)

Initial Persona: Alexandre Dumas (I was drawing blanks again cuz Nino's only story [outside of being Adrien's best friend] is the resistance stuff so I looked up black people in the French revolution and this the guy I got. Fun fact, he's the father of the guy who wrote three musketeers apparently, I was really not expecting that)

Persona 5 Miraculous.

One of the Palaces could be Audrey, but the team thinks they’re going into André or Chloé’s mind. Until they get into a part it the palace where Chloé is chained up like Ann was in Kamishida’s palace.

Chloé gets a harsh reality check about how her abuser thinks of her as disposable and interchangeable with her sister Zoé. Awakening her spirit of rebellion. IF you were to go the Chloé core 5 heroes route

So what happens is that,

Our first level gets Mari, Adrien, Nino and Alya as our Phantom Thieves.

The Second level is Audrey's Palace where they get Chloé

After the first appearance, they have the online fansite where people start asking to make Changes of Heart. Most of these result in the Mementos fights, mirroring Canon's Akumas.

Someone sends them an ask to Change Chloé's Heart. They manage to get a hit on 'Bourgeois' in the Metaverse, but not directly her. Still, it's a 'Bourgeois' Palace at the hotel, surely that's hers?

Ofc the actual Chloé sees them doing the Metaverse stuff, gets involved and dragged in.

Chloé is confused becuase they think this is her 'Palace', but none of it is right. Some of the places and people are familiar, but many aren't.

They go through the Palace for a bit and run into a Cognition. A little girl named 'Claire'. The girl's form is constantly shifting. Not fully, but one minute her hair is platinum blonde, the next a more strawberry blonde, then a light brown. That sort of thing.

It's only once they finally run into Audrey, realize this is her 'Palace', and hear her give 'Claire' a new name that they realize what the little girl is.

Of course, seeing the truth of how little Audrey cares for her, wanting to keep 'Claire' prisoner but not bothering to see her as a genuine real Person..... kinda really makes her mad as hell and unlocks that Persona!

Luka (despite he's a delinquent) secretly frequents his biological father Jagged Stone for Violin lessons. But Bob Roth, the stepfather is a horrible and cruel father: He disapproves Luka's behavior. Because of the stepfather, Luka's going make an alliance with Lycène Bleue.

Félix is worried about Adrien who's becoming a bad boy. With his girlfriend Kagami, he remembers the time when Adrien was a kindhearted boy (before the latter's parents' death). Adrien commits a prank crime on Kim with spiders (Opposite of the episode Derision).

Zoé Lee is an actress and André/Anamixandre is her film director/mentor. She has the same personality as Canon Chloé Bourgeois. She sadistically burns a script (of an eventual movie not yet adapted) she judges utterly ridiculous. She destroys it at the sight of the powerless scenarist (the writer, an adult). In the Opposite universe, Zoé is responsible of major part of akumatizations.

Lila Rossi Cerise Lenoir is the opposite of her counterpart: Her actions are reasonable and recquire good intentions. She doesn't ruin reputations of her friends (only Colt Fathom's reputation and especially his financial empire). She's a strongly opponent to the Fathom Company ans she acts like an antiheroin: she infiltrates the Company with the help of Wayhem (who seems unrassured about her plan even if they have the common point to stop Fathom's shenanigans). She sometimes breaks the Law for that. We can ses her and Wayhem in disguise of Iris Verdi (based on Lila's fake identities see: #ml leaks) and William Azzurri.

"Iris" feels like proud of her own clothing meanwhile "William" doesn't like his "moustache" (Tikki and Plagg cameo).

bringing this sideblog back from the dead to talk about the au that won't leave my brain. can NOT stop thinking about ladybug persona au...

i was thinking about maybe swapping in adrien as the protagonist bc there's usually several jokes about persona protags being "generic" and it could be a nod towards adrien being very moldable bc i wouldn't transfer sentimonsters to this au but. maybe i'll find smth different to give him to represent that. maybe smth resembling the p5 akechi arc? we'll come back to it

all in all though i decided marinette deserves to stay protag, not only because that's her rightful place but also because her unmatched ability to wield multiple miraculous powers easily translates to the protagonist ability to have multiple personas.

as for the fashion choices above, this is my imagining of what their "phantom thieves" outfits would be if i went with a metaverse mechanic that most resembles p5. i personally like the idea of something more like the tv-metaverse in p4 but the p5 fashion is so good and these characters deserve that so here we are. anyways.

marinette gets a coat that is both impressive and practical, because as a fashion designer she knows what looks good but as ladybug she knows what works well. i'd like to rethink how the wings on the back would be made, but as of right now i'm imagining like. a layer of that holographic stuff they make those skirts and jackets out of? with some embroidery around the edges of it to make it secure in a pretty way.

adrien's outfit is a mess on purpose i promise. because if i’m pulling from persona 5 for outfit inspiration, the phantom thieves outfits are based on the characters internal perception of what their image of rebellion looks like. and i just think the natural process for daddy issues adrien is committing fashion crimes as an act of rebellion. so he gets a crop top with camo pants and a ripped up gold jacket :) is this objectively a bad look? not necessarily! but would gabriel hate it? absoLUTEly. and that's what counts >:3

alya's outfit is simple because her sense of justice is simple. she believes in seeking out the truth and exposing it. hence she gets an outfit that is good for blending in and getting info on the ground. not necessarily what works in a metaverse situation, but none of the game outfits apply like that either so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

she still deserved some cool details though, so she got her miraculous embroidered on the cargo pockets of her pants, some heart frames, and the stitching on most of the seams is orange.

this au is still not super fleshed-out, but i NEED to talk about it bc i need more people to be thinking about it and going insane with me thanks

The next part is a makeover montage and the only reason I drew this. Up on Sunday!!

I imagine that Bad-rien when he became Griffe Noire realised how he longed to be alternative and wanted to change his civilian persona so asked Emo-nette as the resident school alt person. And they both definitely don’t have crushes on each other

(I believe in them dating as villains and identity revealing shortly there after. This took them two weeks.)

I interpret the ending of "Scum Villain's Self-Saving System" (SVSSS) as more of a horror story.

The protagonist is trapped in a lifelong relationship with Luo Binghe, who is so emotionally insecure that the relationship could potentially end in mutual destruction. Unlike the other main leads (MLS) in Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's (MXTX) works, where the foundations of their relationships are clear, Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu (SQQ) have a much more precarious dynamic.

It's evident that Binghe is infatuated with SQQ, whether it be Shen Jiu or Shen Yuan, it doesn't seem to matter. I see the fact that MXTX concealed the identity behind the mask as a literal loose cannon revealing it would have caused everything to fall apart. I don't ship Bingmei and Shen Yuan because their relationship is based on a facade. They are obsessed with an image, not the true person behind it. Claiming it's true love is laughable when they idolize and fall in love with a persona.

In reality, both Luo Binghe and Bingmei are in love with the crafted pretend image of the lofty immortal Shen Jiu created and his beauty. LBG is a stallion protagonist for a reason - he was mesmerized with his Shen Jiu looks. Let's be for real, would Bingge would have spared a glance at Shen Yuan without SQQ's identity? The OG stallion is not lacking in beauties? So what if Shen Yuan is funny and loves Binghe for who he is? He's not the only one.

It's almost as if Shen Yuan's denial of reality, his jokes, and dissociation prevent him from confronting the truth. As an internet troll, ending up with Bingmei seems like a punishment. The system purposely chose someone who obsesses over their idol Binghe, the opposite of Jiu, who despises him purposely almost as if the original wasn't satisfied with the ending. Shen Yuan will love Bingmei wholeheartedly, just like fans love their idols regardless of their faults.

Yes, Shen Yuan made sacrifices and helped Bingmei, but no one would react calmly in his situation. Bingmei, the most bipolar character ever, would obviously lose it if he realized the truth. He thought he finally gained approval from the Shizun he worshipped.

I theorize as long as Shen Yuan has the face and voice, Bingmei would still accept him, even though his world turned upside down. Why? Cause he's delusional, he'll accept anything of his Shizun regardless. I think if an identity reveal were to happen, LBH is selfish enough if SY didn't have a Face Reveal to be the 'not my problem' type. SY personality (if you can really call it that since everything he shows to everyone is different than what be thinks/innermonologues) + SJ face and LBH could live happily in his own delusion.

Just look at Bingge. He wanted the 'kind Shizun' because he believes it was an alternate SQQ, not a completely different person. I mean, who will believe with his 600 harem of 'Peerless Beauties' he would settle for SY true face? Oh no, sir/ma'am, he wanted the 'kind Shizun' cause it has SQQ looks, and that's the end of the story.

I don't see Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu as looking alike or being twins, unlike the popular au or fanfics I've seen personally. Shen Yuan feels like a parasite who can't stand alone and just attaches himself to OGShen Jiu's face, body, and everything he worked for. I headcanon his looks as a normal dude, not a peerless beauty from a book.

Like? Why do people who read the book are so surface level with it as if the Male lead's feelings isn't complex enough about OG? I do believe he was charmed by OG, but SY's SQQ feed onto those pre-existing feelings that were already there in the first place.

In fact, I'll go as far as to say he fell in love with Shen Jiu - an unpopular opinion, but one I stand by.

This isn't about shipping them. It simply doesn't make sense that Luo Binghe fell in love with Shen Yuan's SQQ so easily unless the feelings were already there. This is why he spent his teenage years trying to gain Shen Qingqiu's acceptance and why he transitioned from worshipping the ground Shen Jiu walked on to absolutely hating him, despite not seeing him for years.

I don't think his feelings toward Shen Jiu changed during his time in the abyss; rather, his perspective did. Binghe concluded that the only way to get Shen Jiu's attention was to be cruel. No matter how strong or kind he became, Shen Jiu's disdain for him was an undeniable fact within the canon. Binghe convinced himself that Shen Qingqiu was incapable of love and a terrible human being to cope with the constant rejection.

In the book, Binghe's reaction to Shen Qingqiu's grief over Yue Qingyuan's death is telling. Despite going out of his way to kill the one person Shen Jiu loved most, Binghe is genuinely surprised by Shen Qingqiu's sadness. When he sees how broken Shen Qingqiu is, he doesn't mock or berate him as he thought he would. Instead, he walks away, uncomfortable, because he has to confront the reality that SQQ is capable of love, just not for him.

When Binghe meets Shen Yuan's SQQ, his worldview is further crushed. There exists a reality where SQQ adores him, but it's not the same SQQ. He can't even win SQQ's affection in competition with himself. I despise Binghe, but I feel for him because this must reinforce the idea that something is inherently wrong with him. This realization is so distressing that he starts crying, something he hasn't done since he was 14. Both versions of Binghe are obsessed because that's the only way they know how to love.

To be clear, Luo Binghe isn't bitter about the abuse. Well, maybe it's a part of it, but to me, he's bitter because he was rejected. Had Shen Jiu accepted his love, Binghe wouldn't have gone to the extremes to destroy him and honestly respect to him for rather going through torture than to succumb to a genocidal murder maniac of a yandere.

AU thinking let's go. Bad boy x sunshine is a classic dynamic and I saw MariClaw (marinette x claw noir) and the possibilities are endless. Since I'm a love square shipper this is going to be MariClaw and Marinette x Emo!Adrien! Highkey I headcanon that Adrien became emo because Marinette did it first so I'm not going to dive into mechanics of why Adrien is emo but Marinette isn't. I would say 'maybe he watched too much anime' but the brand of claw noir feels a bit more more wattpad bad boy (back in 2016) than shoujo bad boy, depending on the shoujo. He's been pining for literal years AU

maybe she once gave him a bandaid, maybe he's always seen her from afar and curiousity became love, who knows! Point is, he's liked her for SO long and when he's given the chance to go to school, he's super excited because that's the school she goes to!! Cue manga cliches and the title is probably something like "The New Delinquent is Actually a Softie at Heart and He's is in Love With Me???" It could be so cliche, with very lighthearted and cute romcom moments. maybe a secret admirer AU!!

It could also be super angst/fluff. Marinette thinks the whole thing is a prank, or doesn't think he actually likes her, and it's the slowest burn or the most comedy romcom. Marinette has mixed feelings on the Supreme but there's one hero who she sees a lot (potential for pining on Claw's part) and it bothers her so much that one day she meets him on the balcony and gives him food and it becomes a Thing! Traditional Marichat vibes but with a more kuu/tsun-dere Noir

Reverse crush AU There's a certain brand of danmei where the MC is really really shy and it's a lot of angst until the ML realizes that the stoic MC is just shy and is actually the cutest, kindest person ever. This! Is! EmoAdrien x Marinette!! One of the potentials, anyway. Marinette thinks Adrien hates her because he keeps glaring/staring at her (and all the stares she's used to are judgemental ones), only talks to her in clipped sentences, and never goes near her. Then, something happens!! Maybe he gives his umbrella to an abandoned cat or something, idk. Point is, she gets more interested and it's a slow burn-ish progressive romance :) Now the above [she thinks he hates her] except he keeps partnering her with projects and events and everything and she's really confused by the mixed signals so can he please stop. I think everyone collectively died when EmoAdrien realized + quietly blushed in the movie so flirting would be SO fun here because both of them would get really embarrassed.

Secret Identity AU Maybe the secret is that he's Claw Noir or the secret is that he's Adrien Agreste but either way it'll be fun :> Maybe she hates his alt persona so he dies a little inside everytime she makes a comment or a jab and this can be either very comedic or very angsty or both Dengeki Daisy AU, same scenario, enough said. Would probably be more interesting if its Claw Noir + OG Adrien / Chat Noir + EmoAdrien, just to have more of a switch. (In Dengeki Daisy, MC has online friend A who she's never met, and a classmate B who she kind of hates. She talks to A about B, where she rants about B and A comforts her. A and B are the same people).

Sweet, strong, feminine, girlboss MC? With a the stoic, rich, powerful, smitten ML? say less. He might be more of a tsundere than stoic, though. Gabriel Agreste is definitely the hidden boss. Could be the above but also a villainess/reincarnation/transmigation AU. Reincarnated into a game like an RPG or Stardew or something could also be fun, and bonus points if Mari liked him (as a character) before transmigation!

Gaming AU! Gaming AU. Maybe they meet in a game, on Discord, or because they're always playing at the same time and get matched? This is so beautifully canonical. Especially when Adrien is home schooled, he probably gets really attached to his online friend. And if they're both bullied?? they're each other's comfort (be careful to not let this be co-dependent, unless you're going for that). Can have secret identity AU. But, in my personal opinion, the super cute option is to also have them realize on their own! Maybe they've been doing discord calls for ages and recognize each other's voice. Maybe he's been telling her about the school and they realize they're going to attend the same one! Tbh this doesnt have to be mariclaw but the vibes are cute

Yeah Claw Noir doesn't have to have superpowers in all/most of the AUs

Marinette is a loner/bullied in most of these AUs because otherwise it feels a bit too much like a Mary Sue/self-insert (cute competent popular girl meets famous pretty emo boy who hates everyone except her). Can it be done if she's friends with Nino and Alya? Yep. Heavier themes on friendship where Alya (and maybe Nino) are more wary at first but grow to like him and help him be more self-confident. Less romance focus, more character development/trauma healing

If we're going with canon then for all of these, a true happy ending would involve the Supreme being dealt with, but I don't want to deal with that (plus I don't think we know who he is, anyway)

Personally, I am a sucker for smitten x insecure and EmoAdrien x OGMari fit that to a tee. Emo x Sunshine I have mixed feelings on because boi have I read a lot of that, but if it's done well it's super cute and MariClaw does that really well!! I could probably think of more AUs but I've already spent at least half an hour purely typing I pretty highly doubt I'll write any of these since they feel like longer fics + I don't have enough canon info on Claw Noir to comfortably characterize him; if anyone wants to write or draw something based on these then feel free to!

Hey Cap'n! Decently long time fan here (been phasing in and out of the ML fandom since your Chloé-centric Persona AU days, for a time reference because years mean nothing to me anymore). While I'm currently kinda "phased out" of the ML fandom at large, I still check in on the stuff you and Corner put out every once in a while. Have you ever though of an AU where Ann Tamaki is chloe older sister, it is mentioned in the wiki that her parents are both fashion designers and she is mentioned to be a foreigner (or at least foreigner descent) from what i rebember, have her as another of audrey bastard forgotten children who she abuse and exploits when she bothers to come into her life.

Until an incident force audrey to take her to paris (I headcannon she is a french citizen, because when audrey filled the paperwork she registered ann as a french citizen and since japan does not accept double nationality, when her resident permit expired, since neither audrey or her father bothered to renew it she had to go to france) a month or so before cannon and dumps her with andre an chloe, and then sticks around for some bussiness making Chloe and Ann lifes miserable. She would probably try to be a bigger sister to chloe, trying to teach her better and all that and shield her from audrey, and maybe also andre because that sort of spoil rotten thing he has with chloe reminds Ann too much of her father, you know completly empty platitudes with no true love behind it, throwing her away the moment she becomes to much of a hassle.

This could also be either after or just before kamoshida palace in persona 5 events.

Oh! This is a P5 Crossover! I was confused. I'm not big on crossovers myself, so I'm a bad person to ask this question. It can be tricky mixing genres like that, and you end up with so many characters it overwhelms the plot.

I do like P5 though, and an ML AU that runs on Persona Rules would be fun.
