When something goes missing, you can always recreate it by the hole it left. I know her name was Clara. I know we travelled together. I know that there was an ice warrior on a submarine, and a mummy on the Orient Express. I know we sat together in the cloisters and she told me something very important, but I have no idea what she said, or what she looked like, or how she talked or laughed. There's nothing there. Just nothing. Are you looking for her? I'm trying. Well, she could be anyone, right? You don't know who you're looking for -- I mean, she could be me, for all you know. There's one thing I know about her, just one thing -- if I met her again, I'd absolutely know her.
We need more weird historian rep in Doctor Who. The companions are too normal when faced with the prospect of time travel. I want a companion who makes a list of super specific historical destinations related to their dissertation. I want somebody whose first reaction to finding out that the Doctor is a time travelling alien is to create a Microsoft Word document and ask, “What caused the Late Bronze Age collapse?”
"the doctor is aroace," i say into the mic. the crowd boos. steven moffat throws a tomato at me. i walk off the stage. then, several voices arise from the back of the room. "they're right", say over a third of the actors that have played the doctor over its 60 year long history
Recently started watching White Collar! More interesting than its reputation gives it credit for, but if the network were being at all honest with us, Mozzie would be trans and either a furry, a drag queen, or both
I’m still really sad about the 60th anniversary specials being more of a celebration of rtd’s era than of the overall show. the 50th was so fun bc it brought together rtd’s and moffat’s eras along with the fandom’s beloved eighth doctor (the minisode!!) and introduced the war doctor all to help us understand why the doctor has become what he has in nuwho. the glimpses of all the classic doctors! a peek at the twelfth doctor! the return of the zygons from classic who in their first nuwho appearance! the 60th specials just felt like regular rtd episodes. tennant as the doctor, donna and her family, and unit. I guess we got mel but not very much screen time. the episodes aren’t terrible or anything and ncuti’s doctor is delightful!! but the specials just don’t feel like an appreciation of what came before them :(
back in the Superwholock days there was this post getting passed around my corner of tumblr about "teflon writing vs velcro writing," ostensibly as a nutshell summary of why fandom reacted so differently to Steven Moffat and Russell T Davies as Doctor Who showrunners: slick and polished and easier to admire (when done well) or coolly assess its flaws (when botched) than to get a grip on or pull apart & tinker with, vs. messy and prickly and grippy and tinkering-friendly and prone to getting its hooks in you whether or not you ever wanted that
and that's very funny to look back on with the distance of hindsight, because to this day--a full decade after peak Superwholock--RTD-era Who and Kripke-era SPN remain THE most insane, crazymaking, irreversible-brain-damage-inducing, "compelling in the way where they make me INCREDIBLY ANGRY and ITCHY TO FIX THEM because i am so stupid-invested that they still have me by the balls, even when my engagement is just picking apart the frustrations of how and why they SUCK" turbo-examples of velcro writing i have ever encountered in my LIFE
hell, they aren't even so much like velcro as they're like snagging the folds of a lace circle skirt on a whole branch of actual cockleburs and trying to wash the shrapnel out with fucking gorilla glue
.....and then there's BBC Sherlock. which was neither velcro writing nor teflon writing but an elaborate many-year con, targeted at the EXACT kinds of people who maintain a secret good Supernatural that lives in their heads, whose one neat trick was to bait its marks into collectively hallucinating a brilliant show so that Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss never had to put themselves to the trouble of writing one.
the part of the episode where the toymaker was like “look what horrible things and sad endings happen to the companions” and they were just straight up all moffat made me scream laughhhhhhfjfh
It's finally on Youtube! The edit that started it all… I'm forever grateful for this video. It was a milestone in my amateur editor career in 2017. It's very special to me and I'm glad I get to share it again in glorious HD on youtube, to I hope a wider audience. Lots of love from me my beautiful Sherlollians! Love you tons.
Welcome to the Tournament of the hottest boy band members of the 80s/90s
It was inspired by all the tournaments pitting famous beautiful people versus famous beautiful people of specific eras and specific jobs. The polls should start on the 8th of April, leaving around two weeks for submissions. I’ve compiled a list already but you can submit other boys that aren’t on the list through a google form. Feel free to submit non english speaking boy bands.
Propaganda
The only pictures accepted will be pictures from the 80s/90s and very early 2000s. To submit propaganda either use the same google form as for submissions (even if the guy in question is already on the list) or through the submission box or tag me on posts.
